“I was raised here, but I also lived in town. What makes me come back here are the people: They’re not gonna look you in the eye and lie to you. They’ll tell you how they feel, and what they think.” “The people in Cougar?” “Just country people. People call them rednecks and hillbillies, but that’s not how I feel. I like being around nice people. I don’t like being messed with, or playing little games. I don’t like people who steal from you as soon as you turn your back, people who try to take your girl as soon as you leave the room. That’s how it was when I lived in town, and it put me in a depression. I got into drugs, and lost control of my life. Coming back to the country is the only thing that saved me—the only thing. Since then, I haven’t gotten high, and I’ve been nothing but happy.” “Do people ever look down on your choices?” “Some of my friends in the city ask me, ‘Man, why do you like it all the way out there? There’s nothing. You don’t even have cell phone service.’ I don’t have a cell phone! I don’t need one. I can walk right here, sit down, and I guarantee you that five or six people I know are gonna roll by me at some point. If I walk down that street across from the store, I’ll run into somebody. What the heck do I need a cell phone for? There’s always somebody you know around here. That’s how I want to live my life. There’re a lot of good people in the city, too, and there’re bad people everywhere. But in a small town like this, word gets around so fast that if you aren’t a good person, we’re gonna know about it. You get weeded out quicker—if you ruin your name around here, it’s hard to get it back. So people have to be generous and kind.”
A/N: Based on the 1st episode of TrueBlood. I wish Eric was in this episode cuz he’s my bae but snoozefest Bill Compton will have to do. NOLA and No babies. Enjoy!
TrueBlood & Chill
Since Caroline had arrived in NOLA 6 months ago, Wednesday TV nights had become another one of their things. Caroline had refused to live in Klaus’ mansion, much to Klaus’ displeasure, but in an effort to spend more time with him, she began showing up every Wednesday night with microwave popcorn and M&M’s.
This week, Caroline chose TrueBlood for them to watch. Klaus scoffed at her choice but indulged her, as always. He was simply happy to be in her presence. He’d watch paint dry if it meant having her tucked into his side.
The classic HBO logo appeared on the screen and the episode began as Caroline pulled the blankets tight and Klaus slid his arm around her, making her sigh with contentment.
“Oh my gosh, is that girl about to give him a hand…yup, she’s doing it,” Caroline said with disgust as the woman on screen began pleasuring the man with her hand.
“Sweetheart, if you, are ‘bored’ like the woman in the car, I’d be more than happy to assist.” Klaus smirked and Caroline smacked his arm.
“The Japanese created Tru Blood, I can definitely see that, there are so many smart people there. I bet it’s all factories and geniuses.”
“I did promise to take you to Tokyo, remember?” Klaus reminded her.
“I know.” Caroline smiled shyly to herself, avoiding his eyes.
The vampire on screen’s fangs popped out with a light swishing sound and Caroline giggled.
“Why don’t your fangs make that noise? You’d be ten times scarier,” she said with a smile.
Klaus grimaced at the thought, “I’ll keep that in mind, sweetheart.”
