The story of the time I called one of Naruto’s biggest plot twists two years (ish) before it happened and confused all of my friends:
Back in high school, I was Grade A Naruto trash. I watched the anime (both the dub and sub), I read the manga, I had so much stuff with Naruto characters on it that it was ridiculous. I even had my own ninja OC (Her name was Kyo after the lead singer of Dir En Grey). I drew Naruto characters on everything, wrote Naruto fan fiction, and posted my head canons on message boards.
And my Naruto husbando was Itachi.
I loved Itachi above all other fictional characters. I cosplayed Itachi, most of my fanfictions and head canons were about him, and I would defend him to the bitter end.
This spurred what my friends believed was my most wild head canon:
Itachi was not actually a villain. Itachi murdered his family on the Hokage’s word and was infiltrating the Akatsuki on behalf of Konoha, in order to protect it. His guise was so good that even his only living relative believed it.
Most of my fan fictions revolved around this theory, including my most popular fan fiction at the time.
So, I went on and on about his head canon for years. My friends would sometimes roll their eyes, but let me have my fun because I wasn’t hurting anyone. I was just writing fan fiction and drawing fan art.
But then, after two years of this, it was actually confirmed in the manga. Everything I ranted about was true. I walked into school after reading that update with the most smug grin on my face because I was right, and about something I was sure I just pulled out of my ass.
And that is the story of the time my most ridiculous head canon actually became real canon.
You have an excellent grasp of English. How did you learn so fluently? By the way, your artwork is stunning; keep it up! :)
Hmm…English has always been a big part of my life…so it came natural to me.
- I never went to an international school, but I’ve learned English since elementary school because my parents encouraged me to.
Growing up I’ve always been that kid who’s obsessed with western movies and music.
I don’t watch dubbed movies (because oh god they sound so horrible???), I read Harry Potter in the original UK version,
and all my fav bands are from the US or UK.
- In junior high I used
to spend a lot of time talking/collaborating with people from different
countries in an online art community.
Befriending people from different countries
and hearing their stories have always been interesting for me.
So somehow I was never involved in
the online communities in my country and irl none of my friends had
the same interest as me anyway (they were always into Japanese/Korean idols…stuff I was never interested in).
Also used to follow famous Youtubers like nigahiga or Shane Dawson at
that time. I don’t watch them anymore but they were so funny! (idk if
this helped improve my English skill?? learned some bad American jokes from them? LOL)
I went to a university where all the classes are conducted in English
for my major. I had
to use English all the time, with the international students and
non-Japanese professors, for reports, thesis, etc.
- Btw, many interesting fanfictions
are written in English. I’ve been reading fanfictions since junior high. That’s how I got
into some pairings. Probably improved my English too?
tl;dr, I think if you like something so much you’ll find learning it easier for you! English
came easy to me, but when I tried to learn Chinese it’s the OPPOSITE. I
have many Chinese friends at uni, so I enrolled in the course once
(thinking maybe I should learn some Chinese to communicate with
them!)…but then I dropped it after attending two sessions because I
just couldn’t do the intonation right, it frustrated me and I gave up.
Nope, I can live without using Chinese. Will just use
all the time. Hahahah
“It’s only a nightmare and soon we’ll be set free….”
BABY KWAMI IT’S FINALLY DONE. I’ve been working on this all month,
easily totaling 30-35 hours of work from start to finish. Each of the 51
psds had to be sorted, the layers compressed, and then turned 3D and
animated. IT WAS A LOT OF WORK.
There wasn’t enough content of my ot3, so I made some
I imagine after they reach the surface, both sans’s relationship with toriel and grillby develop at the same time, until he realizes he’s sorta kinda dating both of them now whoops??? But grillby and toriel get along really well anyways, so they’re happy to hang out all the time and go on dates together and take up all the room on the bed so sans is trapped in an inescapable but very comfortable fire/skeleton/goat sandwich. It’s all very good and sometimes in small moments like this sans can hardly believe these two amazing people even want to be part of his life.
Bonus sort of process pic at the bottom? I tried shading in monochrome then overlaying color on top of it, rather than taking the time to individually select all my colors. I wouldn’t say it saved me time but it did make my colors look more unified.
