Hey! Regarding the sixpenceee fiasco I've been reading her posts and stories for like years and it might just be because I usually skim but I don't recall any specific stories that target mental illness. Do you have any clear examples??? Rly shocked tbh bc I used to love her

I’ve been seeing the stuff go around for a couple of years now and I admit at first I didn’t pay it much attention, which is a shame because a lot of those call out posts had good links that are now all gone because of people deleting. As a result, a lot of the initial stuff that made me start thinking more critically about sixpenceee’s posts have been deleted. I’ve spent the last few days trying to source them again via people’s new urls and internet archives, but literally 90% of the links are gone.

So, I’ve done a bit of digging of my own, and I’ve managed to find some still live posts that I think illustrate what I’m saying a bit better. I’ve screencapped them all and will be hosting the images myself independently of a specific post, so the links should always work.

I’m specifically focusing on the content of this ask here, with posts that use mental illness as entertainment, or treat it in the same way as regular “creepy” (i.e. horror) content.

  • The case of Margaret Schilling is a post about a woman in a psychiatric hospital who died after getting lost in the building, and her body wasn’t found for many weeks. There is a short paragraph at the end about how the hospital is apparently haunted by Margaret now, but the majority of the post focuses on her being mentally ill and the suffering she must have felt being lost and dying of cold and exposure. There’s also a picture of the stain her decomposing body left, so beware of that. It’s tagged #paranormal.
  • The Mentally Ill Man Who Cured Himself With a Gun is a post about a man with serious OCD who tried to kill himself by shooing himself in the head, resulting in brain damage that “cured” his OCD. The photo is of a man with a gun to his head, if that will bother you. It’s tagged as a science post.
  • Short Creepy Story is a story from Reddit where the “creepy” event is a schizophrenic woman acting strangely because of her hallucinations. That’s it. Dude’s mum is schizophrenic and he goes upstairs to find her in the bathtub thinking she’s in The Little Mermaid. The title is “short creepy story” so like, yeah.
  • The Child Star is a story from Reddit which focuses on children being sexually abused and not understanding what’s going on, and the police interviews with one of the grown up children who is now clearly suffering from mental illness thanks to the trauma. (Full story)
  • The Suicide Orphan is a story from Reddit which focuses on an orphan that drives people insane and results in them committing suicide, and I know that this isn’t the only example where sixpenceee posts things that use suicide as the main element of a horror story, which is exploitative and also I personally think it’s inappropriate to use something that comes as a result of serious suffering and imply that it was the creepy ghosts that did it. (Full story)
  • “Psychopath” post includes a link to a quiz where you can see where you “fit in on the psychopath sprectrum”. I’ve seen people mention her using outdated terms in her posts and so this is here as proof that it does happen, and also because “do you have a severe personality disorder?” is a bit of a cheap entertainment trick in my opinion.
  • Karin Catherine Waldegrave is a post about a woman who replies incessantly to her own posts on social media, believing she is the target of a conspiracy. It’s clear she’s likely mentally ill. The post is tagged #creepy.
  • Chinese Water Torture is a post about the torture method that drives victims to extreme stress-related mental instability, and is here both because of that and because the fact that it’s tagged #creepy, which doesn’t seem appropriate.
  • The Edmonton Train attack video shows someone apparently in an altered state of mind through drugs or mental illness (or both) attacking someone on a train. She gifed a video which has since been deleted but a different video of the attack can be found on Youtube, and described it as “insane”.
  • Drawings of a Young Schizophrenic Boy is exactly what it says – a bunch of drawings from a young boy suffering from schizophrenia. The boy is quite obviously distressed by his hallucinations but the post is treated like the other paranormal posts, designed to shock and scare. The post is also tagged #creepy, which is inappropriate. (Close up of caption and tag, as the image is difficult to read)
  • Made By a Paranoid Schizophrenic Patient is another drawing by a person suffering from schizophrenia, also tagged #creepy, and this one with a self-promo in the caption.

I also found a post where sixpenceee addresses the claims of ableism. She says she agrees on the points made about films and stories portraying the mentally ill/physically disabled as “scary”, and that she tries to avoid using words like “insane”. She also asks people to differentiate between her paranormal/creepy posts and her scientific posts. However, she still continues to frequently refer to things as “insane”, both as descriptors and to self-promote her blog (1, 2, 3).

This covers the things I’ve seen people claim she does, but if anyone has any other links (especially things saved from earlier posts like this) feel free to add on.

Leorio is so much more beautiful in the first version of the anime than the 2011 version. I don't know

ehh i don’t like discussing 1999 since I personally can’t get into it and everytime someone compares it to the 2011 versions I get even less likely to watch it, so i’m not the one person to go to about it nonny :/

When it comes to Leorio I only trust the manga. 2011 did him dirty in many ways (removed his muscles, deleted most of his big scenes, adding fillers of him complaining and being obnoxious, twisting situations around, removing a lot of his texts that were supposed to show more of his caring side, and i’m not even touching how obvious their hatred for Leorio is in the movies) so I don’t want to defend 2011!Leorio either since I’m still angry at those chances.

But I still can’t get into 1999 so I’ll show bad faith about it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Even if I try not to let it get to me, that’s the kind of person I am, I get petty after being told a lot something against something I like.

Although, I recognize for 1999 that at least Leorio has the bodytype he’s supposed to have in the manga. I’m still kinda frustrated by the lack of muscles 2011 showed. But at the same time 2011 removed the scenes he was supposed to show them so *cut to my despair*

But when it comes to faces, idk. I’d be full of bad faith. I care about manga accuracy more than looking for him to be pretty, and no matter how pretty he is in 1999 I don’t really manage to see my Leorio in him? I mean 2011 may not do it perfectly but at least i recognize the panels the design comes from.

So ye sorry I’ll be that annoying “Can’t pick the anime, the manga all the way” person.

Have a nice day nonny!

it somehow makes me even more uncomfortable when out gay men like andy and dan are the ones who ask those questions. even if they aren't aware of the truth (which tbh i honestly don't think dan is, i think he's being played by simon j and thinks he's so close to the source that he can't be wrong) they should know that what they're asking is only going to result in a denial regardless of the truth and how not cool that is to put someone potentially closeted in that position

sameee. I know it’s their job etc but it makes me really uncomfortable to see anyone put in that position.

I really don't want Hides group to go to the 24th ward or meet up with Kaneki just yet tbh. Now that Furuta is away it would be great to take this time to go free Rize? I don't want anyone to magically show up and save the day. I want this to be like a wake up call for Kaneki, the results of the poor decisions he has made. Though, regardless of how the issue in the 24th ward is resolved, Kaneki will place all the blame on himself. I just hope he doesn't snap and go all ruthless/emotionless...

Yeah, I agree. I’ve said this before, but I think this is a fight that Goat have to win for themselves. I’d be pretty disappointed if Scarecrow’s group showed up to the 24th. (I say that, but it would make Hide appear in the manga again so I’d probably be ecstatic from that alone lmao.) Honestly though, I think they should stay apart at least until this whole Goat extermination operation is over. Scarecrow’s group probably have a lot on their hands as it is; they just kicked the fucking leader of the CCG out of his position of power, not to mention, Urie was severely injured during the fight and they’re probably tired out from it too. Now would also be a good opportunity for them to perhaps interfere with Yoriko’s execution, and through saving Rize (which we’ve already speculated that Hide has ties to) it would also be a good way to get him involved with Kanou, who seems to have been looking for.

If you don’t know already (referencing back to this post), it appears as though one possible translation for what Scarecrow says in this panel is  “Now then, but shouldn’t Kanou be here?” Which would imply that he has been looking for him for whatever reason and this could be a good opportunity to get them involved with eachother.

(As a side note, isn’t it cute that he always sits with his legs crossed? Blessed boy.)

As for Kaneki, I know he will most definitely blame this on himself, regardless of what happens, but his character is in desperate need of progression, so I doubt that having him regress into stoicism as a result of this would be a good choice on Ishida’s part. So I’m thinking instead that he should take this as a sign that he has to adapt his methods hopefully work towards being a better king and leader; one worthy of respect because of what he has done instead of what he has lead people to believe he’s done (killing Arima).

Those are insanely impressive weight loss results! If you don't mind me asking, what are you doing to lose weight so fast?

Thank you!

I exercise a lot - 4+ days a week in the gym after college, 5+ days yoga at home - and I eat… tbh a lot lmao

The diet I’m on (Slimming World) lets you know what foods you can eat as much as you want of and still lose weight - so like veggies, fruit - even dried pasta and rice! I mainly cut out all fat and all ‘added’ sugars. Natural sugars like in fruits and stuff are okay, it’s just like added sugar in sauces, drinks, bread, ready-made produce etc

Keith's eyes again! Yeah tbh i don't understand there needing to be anger over it lol. It's really not a big deal. I will say in light of your results that I'm an artist though ^^; but I mean I never draw his eyes like vivid purple. Like I said it's usually so dark you can barely tell it's not black lol. I always chalked the tiny up to his mixed DNA. Like some special melanin or something to give it a purplyness while still staying close to a normal human color.

That makes it even more intiresting!

I do add an indigo to his eyes when I draw him. I thought if anything his eyes should be gold because of the galra in him

But that leads to a whole other conversation. Like, are we going to get to see Keith turn at least a little purple?? I want him to have a little “nightmare” about tuning purple and getting ears and then waking up and going to Hunk to tell him about it (since hunk was trying to see if his skin was purple)

anonymous asked:

dave hi!! what is your honest opinion on mercy players? many youtubers, streamers, and people on the forums seem to hate her so much. i really don't see the problem with her tbh. people always say she gets carried but how is that true when she's the one in battle healing y'all 🤔 people make remarks about me playing her when i have to heal but i'm not even a one trick? i can play dva, winston, reaper, lucio, zen, and zarya as well. why can't people just be grateful that mercy players will heal?

reasons people don’t like mercy generally involve/have to do with:

1. mercy OTPs. being a one trick anything can result in problems when you have to play another hero/switch off that hero in comp

2. the above, but refusing to switch off. don’t even get me started on all the mercys i’ve faced/played with who kept playing mercy even when she kept getting picked off by the enemy being half flankers gunning for her in particula

3. the above, pertaining to mercy’s lack of transferable technical skills. y’know how any widow main almost always also plays tracer or mccree? or some other hitscan? widow requires (at least some) good hitscan aim, so a person who’s good at widow can probably play other hitscans well.

mercy’s primary way of helping the team involves holding m1/m2 with minimal aim required. while it IS important for any healer main, especially mercys, to pay attention to positioning and to have good gamesense, being a good mercy doesn’t mean you have to have good aim (but that’s good too, so you can gun down flankers and whatever. it’s just not a requirement of successfully playing mercy - hence the accusations of mercys being ‘carried’; they’re not usually the ones who HAVE to frag to aid the team)

4. mercy inherently being a high risk/high reward pick. a mercy with bad posi/gamesense is painful to play with. yes, the team has to keep their eye on her, but if she can’t also help to protect herself and doesn’t know when she has to be hiding or on the field, that fucks the team over when they need rez, because having mercy in a (or the) heal slot means you won’t have a defensive support ult (luci/zen) to use in a teamfight.

5. the above, but when she’s on the enemy team. rez is an extremely influential ability on the outcome of the game when used correctly. a single clutch rez can gamesave a match and turn the tide of the fight, or even the entire round, in your team’s favour. so when your team can’t pick the enemy mercy off, it can be annoying to have your ult combos tossed aside by a single rez.

6. she is a priority target, which means you absolutely have to protect her, and she doesn’t have the same type of sustain/self-defence as the other healers. if she’s on the enemy team, you have to go after her either before/the first in a fight, or during it or she’ll rez. and this can be annoying when your DPSes don’t understand they have to ult her and not the fucking orisa because she can rez the orisa.

7. i guess some people also have a problem with entitlement complaining about every single death and placing the fault on the team. you’re not a good mercy if you think all your deaths are 100% certainly your team’s fault. a good mercy knows enough about positioning and has the gamesense to stay alive by being in the right place and to be alive in crucial moments so she can pull off a clutch rez.

there ARE oftentimes problems with the team just not looking out for mercy at all and overall being rude and inconsiderate, but it’s important to know that this is not the case for every death.

mercy has a good healrate, pretty decent mobility including sometimes having vertical mobility, and an ult that can change the tide of a match. being able to tank heal and heal quickly are part of what make her so powerful. qp is a whatever zone, but if people are complaining about mercy in comp just for being mercy, that’s not a valid complaint. yeah she’s annoying, but that doesn’t make her a bad pick.

if they’re complaining about the enemy mercy, that means she’s doing a good job (and maybe your team’s DPSes need to focus her more). if they’re complaining about the team’s mercy, maybe you’re getting rolled, maybe they’re not protecting her, maybe her positioning and timing are bad. picking healer is good, but that doesn’t automatically make the person a boon to the team simply because you can be a bad healer, just like how you can be a bad tank or DPS.

tl;dr: mercy has her merits and when played effectively can be devastating and the single biggest bane to the enemy team, but while she has excellent HPS and an absurd ult, she needs good positioning and gamesense to be effective to the fullest. and though she needs those things, she doesn’t need high technical skill meaning she doesn’t need to land/secure kills to be played well like ana or widow or genji or whatever. this means she’s both easier to play and has to rely on her teammates to secure kills, but it doesn’t mean she’s a bad pick and can in fact be a very good pick.

So…I just started watching Ellie’s streams about a week or two ago (some time around the release of AToTS) and she totally got me into this adorkable show/skit/animated short? idk (Amongst other things…my brain is chalked full of madeon and electro swing now, haha). I also wanted to credit the colouring style used in this picture to her because it’s actually a really fun colouring technique that I had only used for pencil drawings up until now, so…uh, yeah! It’s real awesome and makes the whole process really interesting! It’s really flipping great!! xD

But yeah, anway. *whispers* This little film is the best so you should really go watch it. At some point. Ye.

We don’t even know if i’ll actually do it.

I hate how everyone is going insane about Peter Parker smut saying its disgusting while the flock towards Riverdale smut when they are 15 too 😂 don't let the haters tell you what to do with your writing!!

i feel like people tend to forget that we’re writing about fictional characters, and can’t separate the fiction (character) from the reality (the actor), which results in people screaming about tom’s peter being underage. i mean, i understand and respect people’s decisions about not wanting to read or write smut for whatever their reasons are, but i don’t appreciate being told my blog is “disgusting” because i’m writing what i want about a man that is playing a character who happens to be 15.

and also with riverdale tbh all those actors look like they’re 20+ lmao, so i think that’s why people forget they’re all playing mostly underage characters; whereas tom looks fairly young (16-20 age range), so people tend to forget that he’s not actually a 15 year old boy.

but anyway, thank you so much! ♡ i definitely don’t let others’ opinions dictate what i write and about who, so that one message did not and will not stop me from doing what i want lmao

His eye socket met with one of Hacked!Chara’s infected knives, resulting in the cracks he has now. As for what was going on outside the door back in the prologue, that was his world being destroyed. :) The cracks were received sometime after that though.

When will the result for new popularity poll out? Tbh I'm a little worried about Nami's popularity since I heard Japanese fans don't really like how Nami behave during Whole Cake Island arc especially after she slap Sanji. They said how she not understand Sanji's reason and all. And they're disappointed with her.

Nakama, you should see it from a 50/50 point
Whatever the reason, Oda-sama knows why he made that scene…
The correct question would be: How do you think Zoro would have reacted if he saw Sanji’s attitude against Luffy? . . Any nakama would have acted like Nami, because for something Luffy is the captain…
Sanji did not seek support so if fans do not realize it, it means that they do not see everything involved in the bond of the mugiwaras…
Thanks for your message, a hug from Bepo…

This discourse really sucks because, yeah, sure, aces n aros are included outside of tumblr, but.. i just don't ever see anything about it? Like however small, lesbians and gay people, and even trans people as of recent have representation in media and in real life events but i don't ever see aces n aros included in that? Its such a lonely feeling tbh

Ace and aro are identities that only (relatively) recently have been given a widely-used label. It’s going to take a while for our very allonormative society to give them recognition as a result. But it will come. We need to stick together and push each other up–trans people still need lots of positive representation in media. As do bi people and pan people. Aspec people are just heaped into that pile of underrepresented/poorly represented identities.

Give it time, but it will come.

anonymous asked:

since domestic cats are invasive species and don't coexist with their ecosystem, does that mean most or all domestic animals are like? Like are domestic animals no longer in balance with nature?

Tbh the idea of “balance with nature” really isn’t a concept I put much stock in. Nature is constantly changing and adapting, and what may have been a perfectly harmless addition to the ecosystem a hundred years ago could be a devastating invasive species today. Many modern “natural” landscapes are the direct result of thousands of years of grazing, farming, and other anthropogenic activities, and while the domestic species that shaped these environments may have been “invasive”, at this point, it is the removal of those invasives that would cause the most ecological devastation.

Cats in particular get picked on as being particularly harmful because most domestic cats are allowed to roam freely and because they don’t really have an economic purpose. As such, the adverse effect that cats have on the ecosystem has no real benefit to even it out. Livestock can also have a very dire effect on natural environments, but because livestock is required for food, clothing, and milk, they tend to get a free pass. In the UK and Ireland thousands of wild badgers are culled every year in an attempt to protect cattle from the spread of bovine tuberculosis, but no one makes the argument that cattle are an invasive species and therefore should be removed. In fact, while the existence of cattle has a deleterious effect on badger populations, the extensive grazing of Irish and British lands is what enabled both islands to develop such a rich diversity of insects and bird-life in the first place.

It’s just really not just a question of “balance” with nature. It’s a question of whether or not an invasive species has a harmful effect on what humans consider to be natural, and whether or not the existence of the invasive also has any particular benefits that might justify its presence.

So, in answer to your question, yes. All domestic animals are, to a degree, invasive species. Heck, from a certain point of view, humans are technically an invasive species. But just because an organism is ‘invasive’ doesn’t automatically mean that removing it is the best course of action. Cats are over-populated, quick breeding, and have a massively deleterious effect on surrounding bird and rodent species. From an animal welfare standpoint, they are often diseased, carry infected wounds, and present a risk of spreading pathogens to other animals, including other domestic animals and humans. In the case of cats, and cats alone, removal of the invasive populations is by far the best course of action.
