So you wanna learn how to make simple icons, and make them fast? This is the post FOR YOU. I constantly brag about my 1,500 icons for each of my muses, all simply edited and edited fast with minimal effort on my end. (Note, this tutorial ISN’T how I edit my icons, but how I make editing them easier on myself.)
For this tutorial, you will need: Photoshop! I use CS6 and while these features might be in earlier versions, I suggest getting CS6 to make things easier on yourself! Icons to edit! Make sure you’re allowed to edit your icons if you download them from someone else’s icon set.
If you are cropping your icons yourself, try to save the image with the artist’s URL- that way, you can credit the artist if someone asks for it, and you can delete the icon if the artist comes and asks you not to use their art. If you didn’t crop your icons yourself, don’t worry about it, but please remember to be respectful if an artist approaches you and asks you to stop using a certain icon that uses their art! If they say to stop, stop using the icon and delete it like they asked you to.
That said, let’s get right into this! If a part has confused you, please don’t be afraid to head to my inbox and ask me for clarification! Also note that this is MY METHOD of making icons- there is no Right or Wrong way to make icons. This is simply how I do them, and how I edit 1,500+ icons in a matter of 10 minutes.
I saw that the user thewinedarksea copied a lot of your graphics like their /post/161143984886/ or /post/161522765123/ and I think you should know. Even their new playlist /post/161916734321/ looks exactly like the ones you did. Just keeping an eye out for you.
Okay this is like the third or fourth time someone mentions this to me so I think I finally need to answer. I follow @thewinedarksea and I have no problem with her edits, because yes they may look similar but in the end they are completely different because she did something original with it and not just took mine and re-uploaded it.
Do you know how many people use the same templates or are easily inspired by someone’s work? Do I care if people create the same templates I did? No I don’t. As long as no one is blatantly re-uploading my stuff and claiming it is theirs, I don’t care at all. Hell, I even encourage it. Go and create similar edits as long as you’re doing your own and tag me in it. Because we all clearly have more from new graphics instead of people going around trying to accuse someone for creating original content.
So please if you want to keep an eye out for me look if you find people re-uploading my stuff and claiming it as their own. Because that are the real vile people, but definitely not her.
Aaaaalright, let’s do some spring cleaning, shall we? I’ve noticed a lot of different fandoms making new tags specifically for edits, gifs, colorings, graphics etc. and I figured we could hop on the bandwagon. （‐＾▽＾‐）
I know, for myself at least, that the FT tag is kind of unpleasant to go through. When your looking specifically for edits and such it’s pretty troublesome, unless you’re using the most popular feature then everything’s pretty dandy. Only then, a lot of people’s work goes unnoticed and doesn’t receive enough recognition.
It’s a great tag for all over community stuff, but sometimes it gets downright annoying. I know we also get confused with “Fairy Tale” a lot so, let’s make use of this tag.
This tag’s already being utilized, but doesn’t get that much attention. I’ve seen a lot of posts floating around that FT should have it’s own “edits” tag and we already do! Let’s just spread the awareness of it yeah?
And of course to keep this tag what it should be, there’s gotta be some guidelines.
Here’s some do’s and dont’s-
DO post gifs, edits, manga colorings, manga caps, fanart etc.
DON’T post rants, text posts, reposts of someone else’s edit or fanart, or personal things regarding FT.
There are so many reposts in the tag and it’s horrible guys. -____-“Credit goes to the owner!!!@!@!xD” is not a good way of giving credit. It’s not giving credit at all. It’s not that hard to hit the reblog button. That way you still have whatever it is you wanted to post on your blog, and you’re also keeping the source intact.
PSA: “WeHeartIt” is NOT a source.
And it’s really that simple guys. Also, please keep your “anti-tag’s” out of this one. Shipping wars are dumb and don’t belong in this particular tag. Keep the hate out. (⊙‿⊙✿)
This will make things easier for people to find nice edits, and maybe even find new people to follow. So reblog, like, whatever you choose. Just spread the knowledge of this tag! (>‿◠)✌
