i don't believe this at all

I don’t know how Ouat writers come up with some great ideas only to solve them in the span of an episode in the most superficial and depth-lacking way possible.
I said it before that I never liked the idea of Regina splitting herself, but it could have led to interesting situations. I for one would have loved to see Regina getting used to have the Queen back and the struggle there. To go back being a whole person.

Instead we get Regina giving the Queen some of her love and taking some of her darkness and then send her to some fake place with a fake Robin? Also a place where her other half killed the queen and king and kidnapped the princess, that happen to be her son’s grandparents and other mother. So she also has her wishrealm son trying to kill her.
I never thought I’d see any part of Regina being willingly separated from Henry. Part of season 6A was spent making it clear the EQ was his mother as much as Regina (like that scene in 6x03) and then she just leaves him to go live in a a fake realm, created by her wish, to be with a different version of a man she was with.
What has this show become? I refuse to believe the same minds and writers were behind season 1.

Lana was incredible, though. But she always is.

I cannot believe I have to be saying this because by now we should all know and show common decency but for the umpteenth time. Leaving rude reviews on people’s stories is wrong. It is not critique, it’s not helpful or useful, it’s just mean. I’m not talking about comments when someone says the usual nice review and then comments about something that is helpful. I am talking about a whole paragraph of vitriol.

I know the commenter may sometimes think they are being helpful but you are not. Fanfic writers are all people with their lives, working, trying to pay bills, going to school and to leave just a nasty comment is rude. You’re not talking to a machine, your words do not get sucked in by the void. They are read and impact actual humans, people who didn’t even need to write it in the first place.

I’m not saying kiss someone’s feet when you don’t like a story but don’t like, don’t read. People have stopped writing fantastic fics because of comments but it is more than that. People have been hurt by mean comments. People have stopped doing something they loved because of them. You don’t know people’s lives and what they are going through but what we all should know is that they are living one, most likely a busy one and they still put their time and hard work into making something. Don’t be an ass.

I’m not saying don’t give criticism because most people will appreciate it and be grateful for some help. Just don’t be rude about it and don’t get nit-picky. Fanfic isn’t a body of work created to withstand criticism and deep thought and debate. It is purely done for enjoyment. Don’t ruin that for someone else.

Fun fact: It’s been 1 year and 7 days since I started this blog and tbh I’m so unreliable I can’t believe I’ve lasted this long.

Thank you to my 1761 followers to date that encourage and inspire me to keep going. I love you all!

I hate the way we can’t just like or dislike things anymore. Everything has to be a debate. If you dislike a thing, you have to prove that it’s objectively bad, preferably by calling it whatever-ist or whatever-phobic. And if you like a thing, you better be prepared to defend that preference against people who’ll tell you it’s whatever-ist or whatever-phobic.

Screw that. I like things because I like them. I dislike things because I dislike them. I don’t have to justify anything if I don’t want to, and other people sure as hell don’t have to justify anything to me. It’s okay to like different things. That’s why the world is so full of stuff, so that there’s something in it for everyone.

Happy Saturday, studyblr babes! This past week was about springtime, new opportunities, and acceptance. Here’s what I’ve learned: we are all build-in with issues and faults and that’s just the way it is. Everyone is going through something else. Give yourself a break. Stop beating yourself up for being human. The sun will always rise tomorrow.

Now Playing (aka two songs that got me through all the shit I was going through this week):

Shake It Out- Florence + The Machine

Wake Up- Arcade Fire

I am intelligent
I am funny
I am strong

I am thoughtful
I am a hard worker
I am responsible
I am enough
I am enough

A guide to being a vocal citizen

For people wondering how to take action post-election of a racist demagogue (pulled from Twitter and cleaned up):

Make a spreadsheet or a file for your representatives with names, addresses to their offices, phone numbers, and contact forms. Put everyone there. Make a note in your calendar app to check in on issues once a month.

Pay attention to news. If you get angry, upset, or worried, seek support from friends but ALSO shoot these reps an email, too. Be courteous but firm and blunt. It’s a numbers game. Often we remain invisible because we don’t go to events and rallies and can’t be physically present. But we can attach our names to emails, we can write letters, we can be vocal. We don’t have to be invisible.

You can do this with your national reps, state reps, and local reps. If someone reps you anywhere, note them. Open a line and revisit it. It’s hard work and slow. One email at a time. One letter at a time. One call at a time. Emails are easy these days, so splurge every few months on a stamp and send a letter if you can. Put your humanity in front of these people. Flout it. Some won’t care, but others will. Change ONE mind and results can cascade.

Rural areas are bubbles full of bigotry and now it’s newly revealed. But we white people who live here have the clout and power! We can speak up when our reps say terrible things, and do terrible things, and vote terrible ways. We can go “I am disappointed in you.” It’s work, but as we’ve seen the last six months, it’s time for us to do that work. If someone goes “who are your reps” you gotta know. If you don’t know and you’re mad about this election, it’s time to create that file and keep it with you and use it.

The time for social media rants only is over. Or, do those, but maybe pull those threads out into a paragraph and send them to your reps. And don’t ONLY email or contact when things go badly. Also reach out when things go right. Even if they voted AGAINST something. Treat them like you would want to be treated if you were wrong or mistaken. But we’ve gotta reach out and let them know we’re here.

Anyway, I know this is hard work. If you need help collecting your reps, give me a ping via DM and I’ll help you get started.
