i do not own any of the photos in the poster tho

the foxes definitely get more fans after they beat the ravens so imagine:

  • they had a small following beforehand; it was only really Nicky, Renee, Matt and Dan who ever answered their tweets or interacted with them after games, and it was a nice little community.
  • with the foxes being famous for being given second chances, people felt comfortable sharing their own bad personal experiences, which the foxes helped them with as much as they could.
  • the only time the fans entirely lost their shit was when Kevin first joined, and tbh Nicky was probably there screaming along with them. they had to deal with a bunch of shit from raven fans, so social media was a nightmare for at least 3 weeks.
  • Wymack explicitly told all of them to keep off the internet until it all died down - that lasted for three hours until Dan was there defending a bunch of younger fans from a group of angry ravens.
  • Nicky is one of those angels who follows everyone back;  he always retweets their comments and answers questions.
  • during the season when Neil joins, the foxes don’t spend as much time online because of the amount of shit this boy caused, but that doesn’t mean they don’t spend time with fans at games.
  • now this is where Aaron is in his prime.
  • Neil is so confused how Aaron goes from the Salty Son™ to the Flower Child™ whenever he’s around fans.
  • he signs posters (especially the anti-raven ones, the nerd will call fans over so he can tell them to keep up the good work), he takes selfies, and actually seems like a nice normal young sportsman.
  • one time Neil saw him hug a crying girl after she told him about her struggle with addiction and how the foxes were great role models for her (credit to @delphyc for this idea thank u omg).
  • the fans love Aaron and they also love Renee. the younger kids always stare in wonder at her hair, and the older adults are always calling her a ‘good christian girl’.
  • a lot of people know it was her idea about giving ticket money to charities as well. she always gets messages from the charity members or people who the charities help, telling her thank you etc.
  • it makes Renee’s week whenever she gets one, because it makes her feel like the good person she’s been striving for.
  • and then there’s Neil, who doesn’t really know how to deal with all this sudden attention.
  • like at first he’s a little rude to fans, because he’s oblivious to it as he is with any human interaction.
  • “neil wtf why did that girl just run away nearly in tears”  “her drawing didn’t look anything like kevin”  “and you told her?!
  • but bless his heart he gets better. he’s particularly good at helping the fans drag the ravens, which Allison always helps him with.
  • sometimes though it gets a little too overwhelming for him. it’ll be a bad day, and just so many people calling his name and shoving photos into his face panics him.
  • Andrew always notices. he wraps a comforting hand around the back of Neil’s neck, and pulls him into the locker room and away from the noise.
  • they don’t talk, just sit with each other until his breathing has evened out, until he rests his forehead against Andrew’s shoulder and mutters a ‘thank you’.
  • but the fans also help ground Neil at times.
  • so many people recognising him as Neil and not Nathaniel; all their stories how Neil has helped them through difficult times; all of them appreciating Neil.
  • on those days, Neil is all smiles and energy when with the fans, and is the last one to leave with Andrew staying steady at his side.
