i do not draw her enough

I animated my little Emma build! And I recorded the process! I’ll be posting the rest of my little tutorial on how I made and animated her soon. And I’ll even make the build available on dropbox for anyone who wants to play around with animating without having to draw so much. (The link will be available with the next tutorial post)

If there’s enough interest I’ll add one or two other characters for her to interact with. Probably Hook, maybe Regina if any SQers are so inclined to give this a whirl (do let me know!)

Also coming soon: A proper walk cycle!

Enjoy!

I had an Experience today folks

I walk into a coworker’s office to get some flyers printed for an upcoming event. As they are being printed at an agonizingly slow pace, she turns to me and asks “Hey Taylor? Are you friends with any artists?” I respond yes, I know some people, what exactly are you looking for? She begins to tell me a story about how she met a student a few years ago who gave her some drawing samples and said she could illustrate a book. This student has 3 jobs and a full coursework load- definitely not enough time to do commissions.

“But her artwork is so beautiful!” my coworker laments as she takes out a sketchbook the student gave to her years ago. Now, I do not know what I expected to see. What I do know is that I did not expect to see manga-style furry artwork. Like, the exact style you would have seen on Deviantart back in 2009, complete with pencil smudges? Lovingly scanned using a library printer? And a caption that would read “XD Smexi~~~”? Something vaguely like this:

You get the point. Anyways, I smile and ask what her book is about- attempting to hide the fact that I am frantically trying to figure out at exactly what moment I had left the administrative office of the history department of my high-level research university and crossed over into the Twilight Zone. A Twilight Zone where grandmothers in university administrative positions hand you the ghost of deviantart regrets past. She looks me dead in the eyes and says “Fornification. I am going to teach the young people about fornification.”

At this point I’m rapidly losing my grip on reality. But that was okay because she launched into a 45 minute lecture about why she wants to write the book. Her lecture she gives spins a rather confusing web- linking the history of anti-black racism in Europe with Chinese politics in less than a 3 minute span. I am still holding a pencil drawing of a catgirl in my hands. My flyers are still printing.

I am almost dissociating by the time she tells me she is going to make Christianity the framework of her book. That’s it, I think, I’ve lost it. I grip my keychain, a gift from my boss, in my hand as if it is my last possession from a former life. I am vaguely congnizant of the fact that she asserted that there is not a single person on the planet who does not believe in a god- and those who are not Christians are just afraid of accepting the existence of Jesus. I don’t argue, I am too tired. I am a broken woman already. I am still gripping a catgirl and my keychain.

She says she wants to teach the young people about all of this so we can all unlock a better future together (with Jesus). She says she know she will be effective because she can see the gears turning and switches flipping in my head. She’s wrong, I’m actually fairly busy astral projecting into the beach scene painting behind her desk. But she wants the illustrations because she wants the book to be fun for the young people to read.

I tell her she should contact some people in the art department.

anonymous asked:

I love your art and if your still doing requests I have a strong need for a ladynoir(or any love square ship) doing that upside down spiderman kiss thing

AHHHHH thank you! <3 ;u;
I actually noticed that there’s a bunch of Ladynoir and Ladrien versions of this so I wanted to try something different… a Marichat spiderman kiss :D I don’t draw enough Marichat anyway.

I know it makes sense for Ladybug to hang from her yoyo like Spiderman, so you never really see Chat (or Adrien for that matter) as Spiderman in this kiss pose…ergo I wanted to try it u3u I’ve never really been sure how his staff/stick works, but I do know he can like..stick it against/onto a wall and it juts out like a perch. So..yeah xD

Is this pre- or post-reveal?? You decide.

Fishing: digital painting walkthrough

So I got a question on anon asking me about my drawing coloring process, and unfortunately I accidentally deleted it, because I have clumsy fingers on mobile.

Thank you so much for your interest, I’m really honored! I will try and give a brief overview of my drawing process, and hope this is helpful or useful to you! I just started experimenting with Photoshop last summer around July, so I’m definitely not the most experienced, I’m still learning a lot!

I’m going to be using this drawing of Lapis, because it’s one of my favorite pieces and it is more detailed than my average drawing:

This drawing was inspired by the episode “Alone At Sea”, where I wanted to illustrate this concept:

This was my main reference, but I also throughout, used a lot of google images of water and colorful fish.

Sketch: My canvas size was 3000 px wide and 2000 px high. I tend to sketch with the standard brushes and I actually have like 2 layers of sketches (one for basic shapes/sizes of things, then one for rough details and things).

Lineart + base coloring: I add lineart, usually px size 6-8, with the pencil brush. I then add base colors, using the default solid brush. Usually they are the generic color I’m going for. I try not to get too stressed about the base colors because I usually cover most of them up.

Primary highlights/light sources: It gets more interesting once you establish primary light sources, so where the main light source is coming from, as well as reflections of things. I use a larger brush and add these on new layers, set to either overlay or screen or pin light. So I wanted light to be shining through the water, making the color reflect on Lapis, which is how it works with real light.

Detail/color: I think this is the most fun part, where you choose colors to paint over. I think I painted this the way I normally use watercolor, which is combining a lot of complimentary and contrasting colors with varying amounts of saturation. It’s more complicated to explain that, but it’s a lot of eyeballing. For example, referring to the reddish colors, I tried spreading them around the drawing instead of having them just in one place. The reddish fish reflects around the water bubble, and the light is reflected on Lapis’s clothing as well.

Highlights: This makes your drawing really stand out - often at this stage, many layers are on ‘luminosity’, ‘screen’ or ‘overlay’. I also do this with the lineart layer as well, so there are not just harsh black lines, which can be distracting. There are also secondary light sources, such as at the back of Lapis’s head, because I felt like there was still not enough red-orange in the drawing.

Small white lines also make a big difference (such as those on the bubble, and on the edges of her jacket/in her hair).

I later went and adjusted the color balance a bit, as well as increased the contrast so some more areas would appear darker and it was a bit less green in color.

That is kind of the overview! I hope this was helpful at all, or at least interesting! If you have any more questions I would be happy to answer, I enjoy rambling. Sorry if this was a bit long!

Thank you so much for taking an interest!

meet Liesel Meminger, the book thief

Some book/movie characters are so special that I always postpone drawing them. I feel like I’m never good enough to do it and that ‘I should wait a little more’. Like they are too special for me to practice my skills on. But then again I’m kinda weird most of the time.

p.s. After I posted this I was reminded that Liesel has brown eyes! It’s just been a while since I last read the book and I had forgotten that detail about her. Now, I’m not gonna change the colour in my drawing, simply because the blue is important here visually. I just wanted to let you know that it wasn’t on purpose that I painted blue eyes, it was a mistake but the colour scheme is already set.

I am SO happy with how this came out!!! I hope @wiishu looks beautiful enough! I really do enjoy G/t stuff and thought this might be a funny idea with those jokes about Jack being a leprechaun and the little reference to the “Whose More Likley…” video. :3

It’s the beginning of March and spring is on it’s way, and with it LOVE! XD These two are just the best together and I really look up to Wiishu has a fellow artist. This is my first time drawing her, but definitely not my last.

Hey guys, Emerson here. I know I don’t post much anymore, but this is something that means a lot to me.

Anyways, my budgie Pond is sick. We don’t know with what, we’re still waiting on the test results. We suspect that it’s chlamydia. I wanted to keep her at the vet for today and into tomorrow, but we had to go against vet’s orders and take her home because of the vet bills for keeping her there (totalling to $1100 between yesterday and today, but we cut it down to $700). We had to take her out of the oxygen tank, and her breathing is shallow and rapid. She’s not doing well out of the tank. My dad argued that she’s a $20 bird and that the expenses were far too much for a parakeet. I know you guys would understand the frustration this kind of statement brings about. I mean, if it was our dog who’s sick, he would do anything for him. I even offered up my whole savings to keep her there, but he wouldn’t allow it. So I’m stuck begging on the internet for help. The goal is to raise enough to cover current costs so we can break even and put her back in a hospital setting, specifically under intensive treatment and in an oxygenated tank.

If you donate, you can message me afterwards and I’ll try and make you some art. I’m decent at pet portraits and drawings. I really appreciate anything that comes our way, anything helps. Thank you for your time.

Someone save Solas from Miel.

TAZ Lady Week is coming up so I needed a Killian design I actually liked, considering she is my fav and all! Muscle for STRONG but padding for GOOD CUDDLING W/BLUE DRAGONBORNS. I see lots of mistakes here but hopefully I’ll draw her enough to hammer those out. You should check it out and participate maybe?

I also put in my 3 favorite duck breeds because she deserves to be happy. They are a dutch hookbill, a call duck, and an indian runner. Listen. My dog is actually a duck. I bet ducks are the only dogs that don’t run off the moon and if they do, they can fly. Give the orc a duck.

Jasper Storyboard Comparisons and Rankings

A comparison of Jasper storyboards inspired by evieisyourqueen/critically-bitter. Save two exceptions I chose boarders that provided a lot of Jasper content, at the very least a full scene’s worth. Katie and Lamar I didn’t include as they drew Amethyst disguised as Jasper. I didn’t know how heavily that influenced their drawings of Amethyst/Jasper in the episode so I didn’t include either of them. If they do board more for her or post more art of her I’ll probably update this list with them. Hillary wasn’t included as she hasn’t boarded Jasper at all, and unless I missed it or didn’t pay attention didn’t see enough art from her with Jasper to get a solid grasp on how she’d draw her.

All that said, let’s get this analysis started!

Colin Howard

I really like Colin’s Jasper! It’s fairly consistent and looks very nice. The arms are well defined and her jaw and neck look thick and powerful without seeming awkward. Said jaw is rounded but without looking too soft either. Her expressions are some of her best here, especially those smiles she gives. My favorite aspect is probably the hair though. It’s huge and fluffy, something about how Colin draws it gives it presence and feeling. All around a great Jasper.

10/10

Fun Fact- Colin also drew some of the early sketches for Jasper before her design was finalized!

Jeff Liu

While occasionally inconsistent looking, Jeff’s Jasper is still quite good. She reminds me of a Tiger a lot in this episode, fierce and intimidating. The hair seems to have less volume on the whole, but spikes up when she’s especially angry. The chin is either rounded or angular with her body a touch on the leaner side of Jaspers at times. I’m not always a fan of how he draws her mouth, but it’s a smaller complaint compared to other stuff we’ll be getting into… Another good one all said and done, if a touch inconsistent at times.

8/10

Joe Johnston

Another great Jasper! Her expressions are probably at their sharpest and most frightening here, just look at that grin! Her hair is really big here, though not in the same way as Colin’s. It really adds to her already massive size, which is always a plus. Her body type also seems to be just right here, not too small but not too thick either. The jaw looks more rectangular here compared to Colin’s rounder one. While it’s not my favorite, it’s certainly up there.

9/10

Fun Fact- Jeff and Joe have also boarded Malachite the most so far!

Lauren Zuke

Here’s where it starts to fall flat a bit. The brief parts where Jasper is boarded by Lauren are… not great looking, to say the least. Looking at their sketches is a better indication of how their Jasper could look, but I’m still not a fan. Something about the torso feels off and the fact this is a leaner looking Jasper isn’t helping. The hair isn’t as big but certainly fluffy looking, The face has it worst here though, with the over all shape and the too big eyes making it look rather off compared to other Jaspers. At the very least it’s consistent, but it’s not helping much.

6/10

Paul Villeco

Surprise! Zuke’s Jasper isn’t my least favorite! That honor goes to the inconsistent and quite off model boarding of Paul Villeco, and my god does it show. All these are from different episodes and dear lord it’s bad. From the odd jaws and ridiculous proportions of The Return to the long neck and odd body shapes in Crack the Whip, it’s hardly ever looks good and looks ridiculous at worst. He has improved though and by Earthlings his Jasper manages to get some consistency, but it’s still a touch too lean and even the consistency falls apart once the corruption scene happens (though he also didn’t board that part entirely). It gains some points for saving itself at the end, but outside of that it’s my worst by far.

3/10

Fun Fact- Despite being my least favorite Paul Villeco actually boarded Jasper the most. Huzzah.

Raven Molisee

Now here’s a return to form! While some minor inconsistencies with the hands, hair, and teeth abound, this is still a great Jasper. A well proportioned and thick body, a strong jaw somewhere between Colin’s and Joe’s, nice looking hair on the whole and wonderful expressions, Raven’s Jasper makes me wish she drew her more on the episodes she had with her rather then Paul. All over a good Jasper, if lacking some sharpness on the whole.

8/10

Rebecca Sugar

Without a doubt my favorite Jasper. The hair looks wonderful, the right mix of volume and fluffiness. The body type is excellent, looking strong and well muscled but not leaning too far on the thick or lean side. The best part hands down has to be the expressions. While the eyes aren’t as sharp as I would prefer them Rebbeca never makes them feel too big and the range of emotions she gets on Jasper is amazing. Definitely the first person I draw from when I want to draw Jasper.

20/10

Fun Fact- In addition to never drawing Jasper with her helmet Rebecca also drew additional boards for Jasper in Chille Tid and Earthlings!

Bonus!

Amber Cragg

Amber hasn’t had a chance to board for Jasper much yet but I hope and pray she does soon. While some of the proportions look off and the hair not super consistent, Amber’s expressions are amazing on Jasper, in particular the detail on the teeth. More of Jasper’s huge canines in the art please. Now that she’s been upgraded to a storyboard artist maybe we’ll see some of her Jasper soon! Maybe? Please…?

So listen my loves, I really REALLY appreciate that people like my art enough to share it on their own blogs or Instagram accounts. But for the love of GOD, do NOT tag the boys or their families when you do!

Because if you do tag them - especially on a drawing that shows Harry and Louis kissing - what are you expecting them to say? If they do comment of course it’s going to be a denial or something rude.

Daisy is 13 years old. The nasty things some of the Instagram larries are saying her on this account in response to her comment are atrocious. None of us know how much control she has on her social media and she’s a child. I’m not personally offended that she said I was sad and pathetic. I don’t give a shit, actually. But the venom being spewed at her because she basically “denied Larry” only makes us all look bad. That is really what I’m offended by.

Areeba Siddique’s Art Connects Her to Women Around the World

This post is in celebration of Women’s History Month. Throughout March, we’ll be highlighting the stories of women doing extraordinary things around the world.

Art didn’t always bring Areeba Siddique (@ohareeba) the joy it does today. “Drawing used to make me anxious,” says the 19-year-old from Pakistan. “I would think, ‘What if it doesn’t turn out good enough?’” As her style evolved, Areeba started overlaying quotes and drawings, writing poems and sketching comics in a style more akin to collage — she calls them art journals — that made it feel easier to touch on topics of religion, identity and feminism. “I grew up in a house full of women,” says Areeba. “My history is female. It’s in my bones. It helps me connect to other women.” Soon, Areeba hopes to go to art school to continue her craft and spread her message. “I want my illustrations to speak to other covered Muslim women — and all women, regardless of race or religion — and let them know that we’re all in this together.” #WomensDay

Art Therapy

Request: I was wondering if you would write something were the reader and Bucky fell in love, but Natasha was really horrible and told the reader to stay away from Bucky, Bucky doesn’t understand why

Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Fem!Reader [Enhanced]

Word Count: 6,658

Bucky lay in bed staring at the ceiling. He couldn’t sleep most nights. The rare times when he could, his mind was plagued with nightmares. The doctors in Wakanda had assured him that it was perfectly normal. His psychiatrist at the Avengers compound told him that the therapy would help with it. He even had a prescription for sleeping pills after he mentioned his insomnia. But Bucky didn’t like taking them, the feeling of something making his mind hazy was too close to how he used to be while under Hydra’s control.

When I was ~9, I read an interview with JK Rowling in which she said that she was OK casually sharing her drawings with people, but not her writing. She said she thought it had to do with the fact that she knew she wasn’t good enough to make a living as a visual artist.

My child’s pudding brain mulled over the logic of this. I wondered if the reason for my insecurity about singing in front of others was not because I was bad at it, but because I was actually pretty good.

It was definitely because I was bad at it, but for a few months Rowling gave me a kind of secret pride about my badness.

I cannot animate, ok, do not look at me! I have no idea how that works!
Also, Hooray for Navy. That other doodle I made when I felt bad Navy and Army were separated after all that effort. Doc screams and nobody can hear it. I am so mad at Ametoots not givin a flip about her potential cheerleaders that I just draw a lot of fluff?? To Cope?? Anyway she is annoying the heck outta them and Doc got enough of this attraction! MOVE!

I didn’t want to do this unless I didn’t have a choice I….im unable to currently afford living in my apartment and I could really use any help anyone has to offer with paying my rent due by the 3rd of the month. Reasons I really didn’t want to get into but to put it simply I kicked out my last roommate from the past 7 months because of abuse. Mainly mental and verbal, I won’t name drop and I won’t say some of it wasn’t my own fault, but living with them was driving me to a place I couldn’t stand anymore and I’d rather struggle than be even more depressed than usual and deal with someone that made me very uncomfortable.

My rent is over $1,000 and I only get paid every two weeks and my checks are hardly $600 on a good week. I’m trying hard to find a better paying job, I have a degree and even that’s not helping. It’s tough. I also have my cat and honestly I’d rather starve before I let anything happen to her because she’s all I have. She’s taken care of just fine but I’m really stressed out about rent and upcoming bills. Honestly if everyone donated a dollar I’d actually have enough to cover the other half of rent for the next 2 months at least which would help tremendously. I can draw things to help with donations, I don’t believe my art work is amazing or anything and it’s traditional but I’d appreciate any help I can get so my cat and I don’t get evicted. My PayPal is mfai351@gmail.com. I’m doing it this way instead of typing out a gofundme. Please please help if you can, thank you.
