What are your opinions on John winchester... just my curiosity spiking?
Oh boy, that one.
I think he was a bad, neglectful parent. But I don’t agree with the pretty wide-spread characterization of him as a total demonic, drunk asshole who hates his kids’ guts and beats them up. I don’t think John actually beat them up – not on a regular basis, at least? I could maybe see arguments getting heated and violent, but not so much of a constant smackdown for every small mistake. He might have put them down verbally, if the Impala comment to Dean in the end of s1 was anything to go by… we all know Dean would never let Baby get rust or anything :(
I think he, kinda, destroyed them emotionally and totally didn’t provide enough support. He loved Sam and Dean, I’m pretty sure – but love alone’s not enough. He was a traumatized, scared man who wasn’t in the place to raise kids. I know it turned out that this childhood was the only way Sam and Dean could save the world. If they were raised happy and safe without any training and only ever becoming close with each other in their formative years, I doubt they could foil Lucifer’s plans that were thousands of years in the making in Swan Song. But John had no way of knowing that, so, that’s no excuse!
Also, that face that Dean makes in the Dark Side of the Moon when talking about John…
Yeah, that one. Poor guy. From the looks of it, John would never let them be kids, especially not Dean with his parentification burden. I could maybe understand wanting your kids to be ready if you know monsters are coming for them. But, damn, he could’ve stayed with them. Teach them how to shoot a gun if you really gotta, but you can also play catch with them and read them bedtime stories, yanno.
I know that it shouldn't bother me, but I really don't know how much time is gonna pass for me to see the girls supporting each other's side projects without thinking how things were when Camila was in the group. Is just that she got so much hate (not from the girls) for doing the same things and they didn't showed any support to her like they do to each other now. Idk, it feels kind of off to me thinking how she handle all that still in the band and everything change when she was gone 😪
Okay buckle up, this is a long one 😂 (disclaimer: all personal theory)
Everything changed because the narrative changed - this whole supporting each other and being the happiest they’ve ever been is just a way for them to save appearances, the last thing the label wants right now is for the fans to think that the girls are unhappy. Camila’s departure and the audio leaks of Lauren crying raised a lot of suspicion in the fandom during the break - plus now Camila is actually telling her story and why she needed to leave.
See they’re making a very smart move to keep the fans talking and making people think there’s a feud. Because when 5H is pushing Ot4 and saying that they support each other through everything it makes people think that when Camila was there something was wrong, and obviously it was her fault since now that she’s gone everything’s dandy - they’re putting all of it on this communication thing, therefore also putting a little reminder of the supposed meetings Camila didn’t go to.
Then on the other side you have Camila, who’s been telling her story, explaining why she left, never directly involving the girls but clearly stating that she was unhappy. Little by little we discover that she turned down projects while being in 5H, that she wanted her exit to happen differently that it did.
Now there’s three major ways to react to all of this as a fan (I’m sure there’s more but I’ll narrow it down to 3 general ones)
n°1 : You think Camila is lying, that she casted herself aside while being in the group, that she purposely didn’t communicate with the girls about her solo projects and that basically the girls have been mad at her for 2 years and that’s why they didn’t support her and that only now that she’s gone they can finally be all happy and sunshine while subtly shading her for leaving.
n°2 : You think LAND are lying, that Camila warned them, prepared them for her departure, had those lengthy conversations she stated they had and was basically screwed over by the statement letter for her departure. That now she’s the victim of 5H who are trying to play the nice guys that were abandon by their friend, basically making her a selfish traitor when all she really wanted was to be happy and understood.
n°3 (what I personally believe right now) : You think all of this is bullshit. That the label, who represents both artists, is putting in place a narrative to make the fandom and the medias talk and boost the sales. That neither Camila or LAND really had a choice in whether or not they wanted to play that narrative because they are both under strict contracts. That the label allowing them a little bit more of freedom in the writing of the album is a consolation price but doesn’t stop it from controlling every other little thing. You may think Camila’s whole dramatic departure was a set up, that all those letters were already written long before their release. And you also may think that now, by making the fandom basically choose a side, the label is putting in place a competition between 5H and Camila, and that nothing is better than that to boost the fans and make them want to support their favorite enough to crush the other.
Personally, n°2 was my first reaction when Camila left - I thought she was a victim, probably because she is indeed my favorite and I couldn’t possibly believe she would do such a thing as leaving via her representatives. After she released her letter I thought, yes, that’s the truth, and then when 5H replied I was shocked and hurt for a while. But then I thought back to Mani crying at their last concert and Dinah’s ig post telling Camila she supports her no matter what, and her cheering and singing along with Camila during her Bad Things performance. A few doubts start creeping in my mind. Then the audio of Lauren crying leaked, letting us know that it wasn’t only Camila being unhappy in this group. Then after complete radio silence, finally an interview in which Camila says she isn’t talking to them at all, while at the same time official papers are found by the fans/detectives, proving that Camila wasn’t part of the 5H brand during the 7/27 tour and that her departure had indeed been known for a very long time. And I wonder, if it had been known for so long then how come her departure was such a shock that it could ruined 5 years of friendship? At that moment I knew something was wrong and that we were being played.
We didn’t get much from Camila’s first interviews but then 5H arrived with a giant OT4 stamped on their forehead and a new single that would be in the charts next to CITC. Of course that wasn’t enough so they also make Lauren and Ally release their solo projects to come in competition with Camila’s collabs.
You see, this is all planned out and has very little to do with what the girls are actually feeling or the true nature of their relationship with each other at the moment. That’s why I believe they’re still talking to Camila and they’re all very much aware of what the other one is doing and are very supportive of each other.
I know it’s hard to keep that in mind when you watch this interviews, especially if you’re very protective of your favorite, whether it’s Camila or 5H, because the first instinct it to find someone to blame and that the label, while being in control of everything, is hiding behind the girls, who therefore become the fandom’s punching bags.
You add to that the obvious sexualization of the girls with Down and Camila’s “I want a spanish boyfriend” bullshit - you got in the label the perfect target to blame sweets - maybe that’ll bother you less 😊
The fact that Maggie’s wearing a suit in this picture
means so much to me. I’ve always hated wearing dresses and was never comfortable in them. It’s only recently that I’ve started gathering the courage to wear suits in front of my family and I’m still uncertain and scared about it each time. But to see this, a woman wearing a suit for a formal event, on a show like Supergirl just means the world to me. It’s not just a pantsuit she’s wearing to work or something like that, but a suit she’s wearing because she wants to dress nice for her girlfriend.
There are still so many people out there in today’s society that do a double take and stare when girls or women wear suits, with or without ties, as well as tuxedos. And to see Supergirl dress Maggie in a suit instead of a dress like many other shows would’ve done, makes me really happy. It’s helping to normalize women wearing something other than dresses. And quite frankly, this picture alone is helping me to realize that I have every right to wear a suit and I should be comfortable with my choice.
in my third year of high school i met my best friend, i think people tend to have the idea that best friends are people that have known each other for years, but i only started to get to know mine 2 years ago. did i have something to rival this before? no. i went through 15 years of my life without someone i could properly class as my best friend and so it’s important to remember that there is someone out there for you, someone who’s going to stick by you and help you through hard times. someone you can share laughs with and inside jokes. someone who’s always going to show you how much they love and appreciate you. sometimes, they just take a little bit of time to find.
Dude imagine if Pearl goes on a few dates with Mystery Girl and the topic of singing comes up often and when Pearl gets home all she can think is 'what if I haven't improved as much as I thought' and she suddenly gets so worried about singing in front of MG because it didn't impress Rose as much as she would've liked so what if MG isn't impressed either? So she worries about it for a bit and a few weeks later she shows up at the car wash and Greg's a little confused but he rolls with it and -
- he’s all like “Hey, Pearl! What’s up?” And she’s really flustered and
stares at the ground for a minute before looking back up at him and
saying “Can you teach me to sing?” And he’s confused because he’s heard
her sing and she isn’t bad at all, and even if she DID want lessons why
would she go to him? But all he says is “What?” And Pearl simply
responds with “There’s a cute girl. Can you teach me to sing?” And the
realization suddenly hits him and he feels kinda bad but he also knows
- doesn’t need lessons whatsoever but for her sake he agrees so once a
week they meet up and he “teaches” her how to sing and about two months
into lessons Pearl shows up grinning and she starts talking about how
she sung and MG loved it and she goes on for a few minutes and she’s so
HAPPY and Greg’s so happy to see her so happy but all he says is “Guess
you don’t need lessons anymore, huh?” And Pearl stops for a moment and
hesitates before embracing him and thanking him and Greg is just -
- caught off guard and kinda shocked and he breaks out into this big
grin and he’s just like “No problem” and it would just be a REALLY cute
way for them to bond and I’m sorry this is so long and took up like four
or five asks or whatever but it’s adorable and I needed to share it
okay so this question may be worded weirdly, but i was wondering after i asked about your favorite rhink moments if you had any that didn't involve physical contact? like maybe a moment that just really showed how long/well they've known each other or just something cute
No worries it wasn’t worded too weirdly at all :) hmmm…. this one is more difficult anon. I do have a few, although there are so many nice ones.
1) That moment when Rhett thought Link had found the blood oath was so nice. That entire GMMore (Link’s High School Gym Bag) really said a lot about how much history they have together.
2) That moment when Link flat out refused to acknowledge a possible end to their friendship, without even thinking about it.
Can we talk about how much of the Sterek chemistry and friendship-and-maybe-more onscreen is specifically because of choices Hoech and Dylan made, outside of the direction and script, and possibly IN SPITE of the direction being given? I know canon didn't show them as romantic, but I definitely think both actors looked at and reacted to each other in ways that really let the fans see the potential. (1/2)
(2/2) You can argue that a big chunk was due to how much the actors like each other IRL and that coming through onscreen, but that certainly wasn’t all of it. Dylan’s great at showing those nuances as the script calls for them (like when he looks at Lydia in context), but clearly the scripts never said for Dylan and Hoech to look at each other the way they did, but they still went for it. I honestly don’t know if they were open to full Sterek, but they really seemed to be in degrees.
Whether they wanted canon romantic Sterek or not, they were both certainly onboard with more Stiles/Derek interactions. There are receipts of them pitching a scene to Jeff… only to have that scene taken and used for other characters.
And yes, the writing in this show is generally not great, and the acting is… what you’d expect for a show about teenage werewolves. But the Stiles/Derek scenes were always better than they appears on paper because both of the actors had such great chemistry, and elevated their scenes about the script.
And they both did a lot with looks, and touches, and tiny gestures that showed these two characters cared about one another even when they weren’t talking together. There’s a sort of an awareness in scenes of where the other one is, and they play off each other’s reactions. They certainly did more than the script required of them.
So I saw the 10/13 show, and I knew Christy had been out sick earlier in the week so I was listening to see how she sounded and she was INCREDIBLE like she didn't sound sick at all... Until she sneezed really loudly during the Count Ipolitov solo in Stay I Pray You when it was absolutely silent it was the cutest thing I had ever seen.
The conversation between jon and dany was better than we thought. The spoilers said that he doesn't care if she can't have children, but actually he didn't really believes that and its much better because he knows that there is the risk of getting her pregnant and he doesn't care. For Jon that's huge, that shows how much he loves her. He better says 'i told you so' when they find out about their baby.
Oh my god I didn’t even realize this. Lol all those antis saying he’d only sleep with Dany cos he believes she’s barren like nah my mans low key wants to put a baby in her.
What's beneath the ark gonna be about? Also, I didn't know you made 2 comics! I should start reading the other one too!
Beneath the Ark is another angel/demon motif story (sorry I really like writing supernatural religious things ahh) where a girl, Autumn, periodically sees visions, all of which are random and minor events around her. She’s pretty much the world’s worst psychic.
One day someone who says their name is Michael shows up and says she’s been assigned to him to help prevent a huge catastrophe. He then forces her into visions, all of which has varying results, and end up getting them into trouble with a couple very unsavory people. They eventually see something they really shouldn’t have.
It’s going to be a mature comic (blood, sex/nudity, language). But I’ve been able to experiment with different coloring and story techniques. I’m excited to see what you guys think. I was signed so far for 1 whole season so far. Well see how it goes
Discussing season 7, Harington said he focused on making the romance believable. Umm.....I didn't think he was that bad of an actor. However, If that was his goal, he failed miserably.
LMAO pretty much! Also, I typically don’t believe a word that comes out of ANY of their mouths -they’re ALL trolls, and it’s not like they can *truly* give away insider info …it would spoil the show.
But …. this is the dude that swore he was really dead for an entire year, so I take anything he says with a grain of salt.
And btw: Kit isn’t an awful actor. True, he’s not the best, but you have only to rewatch the sizzling sexual tension in his scenes with Sophie to KNOW that he can be rather convincing when he needs to be. So, there’s that. 😏
If you're feeling up to it.... request? Cherry on top? Girls night at a cabin (Caroline, Bonnie, Katherine, and Rebekah) retreat and the boys interrupt the evening festivities. Which sucks because now they are all stuck inside a one bedroom cabin + pull out couch during a blizzard. Whatever shenanigans ensue is totally up to you! :)
I am so freaking sorry, for one taking so long, and two for…wtv this is. I didn’t know how to go about it, but I needed to just write something and post it, or I’d go insane, so this came out and it looks half-assed and bad and I don’t like it, and you’ll probably be disappointed (lord knows you deserve better) but at least I did it…? My advice to you, is send this prompt to a better writer haha But I hope you’ll manage to like some of it? Thanks for sending me this prompt tho!!
The cabin was warm and peaceful, - the fireplace mesmerizing if you looked into it for too long - while outside the snow started falling fiercely and relentlessly. It only made the room that much more comfortable. So far none of them were fighting - well, they weren’t physically fighting at least - but instead were drinking and somehow enjoying each other’s company.
“We should play never have I ever.” Katherine suggested, sipping on her vodka.
“You and Rebekah have probably done everything, how would that be any fun for you?” Bonnie asked confused.
“I assume the fun part would be that we’d get to drink every time and find out some of your secrets. Not that I enjoy understanding how Katherine’s brain works.”
“Oh Rebekah, I’m honored, you truly know me so well. Maybe later I’ll get to know you better too.” Katherine flirted, licking her lips in anticipation, and in return getting a dirty glare from Rebekah.
I wonder if this is what John felt like after TRF. This mad hope that this is all a nightmare and it didn't really happen. As their anniversary came did he wonder? Have this stupid reckless hope that maybe, just maybe he'd come back to him and they could be okay again? Sherlock can't be dead. He was beautiful and brilliant and so alive. Where did he (we) go wrong? It tears me up inside. Even more when I think about John. To think our show is dead hurts so much. Especially after hoping again.
We are all John, Lovely. Hurt by the person / show we love ((un?)ironically both named ‘Sherlock’).
I don’t think the show is dead; I still have a bit of hope that they didn’t TOTALLY destroy it into something unrecognizable, that this is just a plan and we need to be patient (I’m still having a hard time trying to figure out how we went from TAB to S4…). But I know that there’s the 99.9% possibility that we are supposed to take it at face value, it is what it is, and accept that they purposely ruined their own narrative because they didn’t really want it to be Johnlock after all. It is disappointing, absolutely. We still have the fandom, though; we keep the original narrative alive and thriving. We love them more than ever before.
I think I liked the Volturi throne room much better in NM than I did in BD, it didn't make sense to suddenly change it all and I know it shows like darker tones but still...I just didn't get why they had to change it. So I'm wondering what your thoughts are on it? And is there anything that made you frustrated - movie wise?
I have mixed feelings about the change in the throne room. I really loved how it was in NM because it was very opened and sunny; I truly think vampires like having those opportunities to be in the sunlight, without having to worry about humans seeing them (like how the Cullens have a very opened home). But, I did like the kind of creepy vibes with the BD throne room and it was more close to how I imagined it based on the book’s description. But to be honest, I really didn’t like how the book portrayed it. It seemed very bare bones (stone walls with only the three thrones in the center) and had some sort of large drain in the center so that bodies could be disposed after feedings or executions. The Volturi, or at least Aro, have a better aesthetic than that. In NM, it was all pearly white marble and ornately designed; I really liked that a lot. So, yeah I agree with you because I preferred the NM throne room. Each movie they changed something because of the directors and it really bugged me (i.e: Alice’s hair length).
There are few particular things that frustrated me about the movies, and they are all Volturi related, surprise surprise.
I really wish the alleyway scene would have resembled the book scene more closely. I really like the good cop/bad cop vibe Demetri and Felix have going on. Plus, I just think it’s kind of funny that Felix is looking for an excuse to get into a fight. To be honest, it probably would have been the highlight of Felix’s week.
I wish we could have seen that scene where Gianna offers Bella tea to calm her down after Bella sees Heidi leading the tourists to the throne room. Bella and Edward get into the discussion about how much Gianna knows and Bella is appalled/shocked that someone could want to be turned by them after knowing what they do to humans. And I think this scene brings up a really huge point about Bella’s lack of understanding on the whole vampires thing.
I shuddered, “How can she want that?” I whispered, more to myself than really looking for an answer. “How can she watch these people file through to that hideous room and want to be a part of that?”
Edward didn’t answer. His expression twisted in response to something I’d said.
This paints a really great picture between Bella versus Edward’s beliefs on vampirism. Bella is shocked that Gianna would want to be turned by a coven that freely kills humans, even though Gianna is a human. Bella kind of justifies the whole vampire thing by telling herself that she will never kill any humans, only animals, because of the Cullens. I really think she kind of ignores the fact that all of the Cullens, except Carlisle, have killed humans. I think Edward takes Bella’s statement in a more of a “how could someone want to be a vampire because you would want to kill humans,” kind of way. Obviously Edward knows more about the realities of being a vampire than Bella and I think this scene could have been used to show how Bella has this very idealist view of vampirism. Throughout the whole series, Bella kind of brushes off this idea and I was really hoping in BD she would slip up so she could understand how it really is a blessing (she gets to be with Edward forever and such) and a curse (she will have to deal with constant blood lust and the consequences of giving into it on occasion). But instead she got super-self control, so yay.
The whole battle scene in Breaking Dawn makes me so livid. At the very least, the Volturi Coven/Guard, Romanian Coven, and Egyptian Coven should be extraordinary fighters because of there experiences in wars. I’m not a war expert or anything, but I’m fairly confident charging straight at the enemy is a surefire way to get yourself killed. Also, no one really utilized there gifts except Bella, Jane, and Kate, which kind of bugged me. I also think some of the deaths were a little ridiculous. Like, Demetri just kind of chilled for a few seconds as Edward flew towards him and proceeded to decapitate him. Don’t vampires have like super-reflexes? Also, I really wish Renata would have been involved in the fighting scene. That would have been interesting to see.
Can I ask what do you think of Aron overall? IMO your last reply didn't really leave a positive impression of him but might just have been me. I think people have already made their minds up about him which when you think about it is such a shame especially how much of an effort he has made for us especially through MA (his old radio show) at one point that was all the closest communication with NU'EST we were getting.
Alright, here’s my honest thoughts on Aron. Some people might not like them, but I’m just sharing what I’ve observed.
Yes, Aron is immature and I think he’s terrible at coping with trials and tribulations that are handed to him. I think he’s kind of escapist, and I think the reality of what it means to be an idol hit him hard as NU’EST struggled over the years. He thought he was gonna go to Korea and be a huge celebrity. He said himself “fame and money on my mind.” Aron romanticized the concept of being a Kpop idol the way most Kpop fans do, he was young when he made the decision to go to Korea and train under Pledis. The big issue here is Aron does not adapt well to change, and he still, to this day, struggles to assimilate into Korean culture.
Aron is also a speak/act first and ask questions later kind of guy and it gets him into trouble. He’s terrible at self-filtering and I often think he doesn’t quite understand the gravity of what he says and how it can affect the people around him. He did really well in school (he was actually accepted into New York University but instead chose to pursue a career in music through Pledis), but he’s not an intellect. Not by far.
But I also think Aron loves people; he’s a socialite. He enjoys high energy and fun. He’s actually quite simplistic in nature; give him a beer and a group of friends and he’s having a good time. He likes attention, he likes talking, he likes making friends. He’s got a great personality for being a host, which is why it was so wonderful for him to be on Arirang as a radio DJ because it gave him an outlet to be productive and involved in something. And you could tell he enjoyed it.
And despite not necessarily grasping the effect his words and actions can have on people, he has shown realization that NU’EST has saved lives and he’s appreciated what the group can do for people. He does appreciate his fans, normally he is always updating his SNS so that we are always informed and always know what he’s up to. And for anyone who thinks that Aron hasn’t shown support for his co-members, you are mistaken. Aron is also currently barred from posting to his SNS account (though he’s been shown on his friends’ accounts multiple times, as they aren’t under any SNS ban) but he has been liking posts asking for support for the other 4.
He’s not perfect, and stacking him up against the other 4, he seems to be lacking in many ways, but I also think there’s a lot of good and potential in Aron, if he could just see it and strive to do something with it. He irritates me often, but I also love him the way I would love a brother.
I know people have been sending me multiple, negative asks related to Aron because they’re trying to trick me into validating some ot4 ideology, but the joke is on them. I support ot5, as long as it includes an Aron who puts in the work and wants to be there. And if Aron wants to leave? I’ll support ot4, because what’s most important to me is that everyone involved is happy, that the decisions are being made consciously, and that it’s a productive move for all 5. Aron might have a lot to learn, but he’s still a part of this group until he decides to leave, and I will always root for him to grow and learn. Because I think he can.
