i didn't really have a reason for making these

So um,,,

This one actually goes for @nellos12

I just wanted to draw something nice for u, so,,,

  • Keith: And Lance...
  • Lance: *stops by the door* Yeah?
  • Keith internally: You are such a valuable member of the team. You basically pull us all together when we need it. If it weren't for you, we wouldn't be here today, having this moment. You are my impulse control, always helping me to see clearly when my emotions are too much for me to handle, and that's probably the reason Red chose you to be Voltron's right hand when we needed it. She knows how much I trust you, how much the team needs you. I don't know why you devalue yourself so much, and I feel bad that we as a team didn't make it clear how much we appreciate you. You are really important. But I'm not good with words, so how can I make you understand? How can I get you to cheer up and go back to your cheerful self?
  • Keith: Leave the math to Pidge.
  • Keith internally: nailed it
Power Rangers Fucked Me Up Reason #1

Kimberly’s reaction to finding her note in Billy’s pocket. It was an off hand comment, probably something she joked about with her other friends. But finding in it in Billy’s jacket made her realize what she said really impacted him as a friend. He even kept the note.

I didn't get the impression that falling in love with a human was forbidden, I just thought having a nephilim with them was forbidden... Being in love didn't seem like the reason to keep Cas from acting on his love for Dean imo.

It’s so heavily implied that love or sex is forbidden in any way regardless of making babies that I don’t even really question it anymore…

The Angels (the militaristic dink Angel season 4 part of the group that we see rear their heads every now and again) generally seem to see humans as mud monkeys and beneath them.

Then we have:

1. Anna who ripped her own grace out to experience things including and focusing on - sex.

2. Balthazar and Gabriel who are seen as having fallen, having rebelled and the focus is on them having lots of sex.

3. Over the seasons various Angels threaten Cas with his close relationship with both brothers, often and mostly later Dean specifically and in season 11 they threaten to cut off his penis while talking about how Cas always chooses them.

x

None of these are about making babies.

So yeah imo there’s a clear link between a relationship and sex (not just making nephilim) and falling / rebelling / not being accepted by Heaven.

||Part of this really happened, though I improvised a bit.||
  • Person who has only seen Durarara!! Anime and admits to being too lazy to read novels: Why would anybody like this guy? *posts gif where Izaya is saying*"People are my playthings."
  • Me: There are reasons I like Izaya: For one, he's intelligent, charming, cunning, has class, cares for and values his friendship with Shinra in his own way even though he has trouble with empathy(something I relate to), and despite everything, he's just a human even though he's able to bring down an entire organization like Amphisbaena. Not to mention I'm pretty sure he's jealous of practically everybody he comes into contact with. Shizuo, Mikado, Shinra, even Celty.
  • Me: He punches a telephone pole upon realizing he'd be betraying his only friend by normal human standards.
  • Me: And he was neglected by his parents emotionally. That's a very typical cause of personality disorders, just so you know. It's not entirely his fault that he is the way he is. Just saying. But I enjoyed watching him outsmart Amphisbaena. And I really like reading the novels for his philosophical views. Plus, he's kind of agnostic and fears death more than anything, something I can relate to.
  • Me: Haha his hand was literally swollen up because of slamming it into the telephone pole. But you know what happened when his sisters expressed concern for his hand?
  • This-
  • Mairu tilted her head and asked as she saw his right hand, “What happened, Iza-nii? Your right hand looks swollen.”
  • “...Health (Are you alright)?” Kururi looked at him with worried eyes.
  • Izaya stroked her head with his left hand and lied with a sigh, “Yeah, I got this when I was running away from Shizu-chan.”
  • “So you deserved it after all—”
  • “Keep yourselves away from muscle idiots like that one. Or you could die, you know.”
  • The siblings continued their conversation as they disappeared into the city night. The city, which took in everything it was offered, absorbed their talk into its nightly cacophony as it did any chit-chat within any normal family.
  • -
  • That was from the ninth Durarara!! Light novel.
  • But what was even sadder was the scene before that -
  • The twins flanked Izaya as he began walking, a bitter smile on his face. Mairu, who was on Izaya’s right, raised her face to look at him and said in a natural tone, “Say, Iza-nii. We know that you probably don’t treat us any differently as you treat other people, but keep in mind that we still think of you as family, OK?”
  • “All of a sudden you’re saying things that would actually make me happy. What happened?” Izaya felt that the line didn’t sound like Mairu, who usually told him to “Die!” and highkicked him when she saw him. He glanced at his sisters’ faces—and saw that they were smiling innocently back at him as they continued.
  • “So, if you get killed by Shizuo-san, Iza-nii, we’ll make sure to cry a little bit for you before we laugh about it.”
  • “Small (Just a little)...”
  • “...I was a fool to expect any family love from you.”
  • Izaya chuckled and walked faster.
  • - Also from LN 9, I have no clue why it wasn't in the novels. It really should have been. Especially the scene where he actually punched the telephone pole. But another reason I like Izaya is because not only is Izaya changing, but Narita himself said, "I have a feeling there was a scene where he cried, but he didn't let the readers see."
  • Somebody else: There are many reasons that make me like Izaya Orihara, like his fascinating personality, but that doesn't mean I think of him as a good man ¯\_(ツ)_/ ¯ I love it anyway
  • Person who has only seen the Durarara!! anime:
  • *throws in lame ass argument about what 'bad' things Izaya has done, without arguing, even though the argument could go both ways, considering he did take down Amphisbaena, and took Jinnai Yodogiri's corporation, giving Kasane Kujiragi back her freedom.*
  • Me: He's neither good nor bad. Most people can't be classified as either. We're all selfish in our own ways, and have a dark nature down deep that makes us want to test people at points. But without proper nurturing that can become harmful by nature, and it can consume us.
  • Somebody else number 2: The funny thing is that most people fail to recognize that they are of equal good/bad scale to Izaya without realizing it. It's only because Izaya is presented as an antagonist going against the common societal view that he is seen as a villain. Anyone that stands out against what is accepted is seen as bad because that is what we are taught at a young age to believe.
  • So saying that you hate Izaya because he is evil or bad is playing into those accepted, ingrained, and common beliefs.
  • Person who has only seen Durarara!! anime:
  • I don't have to like Izaya. I don't agree with you, and I don't want to argue about this. Izaya is pretty terrible. He started a whole war for fun, and told a girl to commit suicide. Any Shinra was just assuming when he said that Izaya has a fragile heart. Shinra is just some underground doctor(me: that doesn't know what he's talking about)?
  • Me: You don't have to like him, but you can't just deny canon. First off, he didn't want to start the war entirely for fun. He's an atheist/agnostic, and is terrified of death more than anything. The novels outright called Shinra, "his friend, the first person to see through Izaya to his true nature.". And Shinra described Izaya's 'true nature' as being more human and his heart more fragile than anybody else. Nextly, Shinra isn't 'just' some ignorant doctor. He has the potential to be the most manipulative character on the show if he really wanted to, and he's not ignorant. He's actually fairly insightful and observant, even when others aren't even though he ignores them because he only cares about Celty. Even Tom seemed weary of Shinra, implied by the novels.
  • Somebody else 4: Whether you like Izaya or not doesn't matter, because it's not just interpretation, it's canon, so in other words, you're just ignoring facts to justify your hatred for him.
  • Person who has only seen Durarara!! anime:
  • I mean he could made different choices and it could have turned out better.
  • Person who has only seen Durarara!! anime: I think Izaya's the worst one because he started the war.
  • Me: The same could be said for pretty much every single one of the characters, who all have done some pretty bad things, and crossed over things Izaya never would. *points out Shizuo's non justification for his hair trigger and how if it weren't for Simon, Shizuo could have killed somebody. Points out Ran's joking about raping both Saki and Mikage, as well as his abuse towards his brother, not to mention what he did and threatened to Saki(though he is jealous of the love Aoba receives from his parents, and the natural leader role Kyouhei has), points out Anri's hypocrisy in siding with Saika just because she saved her, points out Masaomi's cowardice(even though he has his really good moments), points out how Izaya saved Saki and multiple other girls from abusive situations, and especially Kuon's sister's experience with Izaya and how they can't properly seem to live without Izaya, points out the fact that, in reality, Mikado stabbed Aoba because he wanted to fulfill his ego, as well as the fact that he shot off a gun and caused a spark in the Awakusu-kai, points out some of the things Namie and Seiji did, not to mention Shinra's manipulative nature. Above all, points out all the trouble Nasujima caused and the terrible things he did(to Haruna and her family especially), as well as Jinnai Yadogiri sending Vorona(serial killer for fun at first, likely because of neglect) and Sloan to kidnap a child and do who knows what with her, considering all that Jinnai did to Ruri(also serial killer, but less for fun and more for revenge to get back at those who killed her parents)(not to mention Jinnai doing experimentation on her), though killing still starts to consume her because she feels freedom by doing so), Adabashi beating Shinra to a bloody pulp(though not apparently as bad as Shizuo has supposedly done to Shinra in the past, according to Shinra himself)(after which Izaya had Izumii break Adabashi's leg broke and kept him in his apartment for three days until he managed to escape.)* I'm not going to even go into Shizuo beating up a guy for simply questioning the purpose of life and telling him to go die, or the things Vorona, Shinra, Walker, Erika, Aoba, Rokujo, even Celty,(probably)Simon, and many others have done. Because every character has flaws and weaknesses that make them human. Minus Takashi and Jinnai Yadogiri, everybody has a least one person they have an attachment to of some sort and can feel a little closer to than others, even if they won't admit it, mostly everybody has unhealthy obsessions, Izaya nonetheless. But most everybody is changing, Izaya has even took the huge step of NOT calling Shizuo a monster, and instead admitting that Shizuo is just a man that distanced himself from humans. If that alone is not an improvement for him, I don't know what is.
  • Person who has only seen the Durarara!! anime: *obviously didn't read much of anything* Eh, Izaya's not good, and I just can't find it in myself to like him. If he were a real person, I might sympathize with him a little bit, because he could find help, but he's just a character, and there's no real justification for why he is the way he is.
  • Other person who has only seen the Durarara!! anime:
  • The anime is made for you to interpret Izaya however you want.
  • Somebody else number 4: This is why people need to read the novels. There is more to Izaya than what is portrayed in the anime.
  • Me: Plus, both the anime and manga is there to promote the original sources, so, naturally, they are going to leave out stuff, because they want you to read novels.
  • Somebody else number 5: Izaya isn't evil. He's not a sociopath. He's not a psychopath. He's not a troll. He is indeed only human and only wants a little more in his life than sitting on a bed and binge watch anime. There's so many reasons to like him <3
  • Me: While sociopath can be a generic term used for people with delayed or limited empathy(due to trauma)(unlike psychopaths, who are just born that way), as far as I know, sociopathy can still be detected in brain scans, because their brain still works and is wired very similarly to a psychopath. Either way, I honestly don't believe Izaya is either. I believe that he's just a human with a normal brain like both of his brain scans suggested.
  • Somebody else number 6: I honestly love hate him, but mostly I hate him, but I gotta admit he's a hot bastard.
  • Me: You're kind of missing the point, but whatever. He, just like anybody, has a side to him one can hate, but he also has a side to him that makes him a very complex character. The way he views things are so fascinating and he really opened my eyes to certain things. I can relate to his philosophy, I can empathize with his feelings about humans, and especially his hatred/jealous of Shizuo(having grown up with a brother that acts much like him, just to a less extreme, not mention I've experienced some domestic abuse, so I don't just like him for his looks alone(even if he is pretty good looking. Like I said, he's charming, cunning, shrewd but with class, is kind of funny at times, has views on society that I personally understand, is jealous of a lot of people for various reasons which I can also relate to. Despite being a mere human, he uses his wits to get out of dangerous situations, and to take down corporations like Amphisbaena and Jinnai Yadogiri. He has a an amazing ability to turn the tables when one least expects it, and wonderful flexibility as well. Unlike Shizuo, who has super strength, or Mikado who has close confidants he can truly rely on, or Celty, who can use her shadows and many others, Izaya is just a human(though he's jealous of every one of them, not forgetting Shinra, and doesn't actually want to be acknowledged as himself.)
  • He's an incredibly written character in the novels, but ultimately one I can relate to in certain aspects, including the feeling of loneliness, and feeling fear at the one he called his '(only)best friend' being mad at him. It honestly frustrates me when people bash him, or ignore the things that make him who he really is.
  • Izaya isn't a sadist, he just wants answers. And he's an emotional masochist at it's finest, possibly a chaotic neutral, and both an Anti-Villain and Anti-hero(though maybe a little more on the Anti-villain side at times). Also, lastly Izaya didn't "convince girls to commit suicide". In reality, he saved them in the novels(even if it wasn't really his intentions.) Ryo didn't happen. Izaya didn't cause the blood splatter. Because Manami and the other girl were the last two he messed with, and it clearly said that nobody he met up had actually went through with it in the end.

He has said multiple times that he hates that ppl associate him as the "good looking" musician and wants to be known for his music instead. He was saying he even wanted to shave off all of his hair bc that's all ppl were looking at. I'm thankful he just didn't shave it off bald bc he got REALLY close to doing it a few weeks ago. This is why he cut his hair. Some fans have already "left" him because he isn't as attractive anymore... but that was the whole point. He didn't want fans like that.

Wow! That’s actually a really good and powerful reason! I get it. And, honestly, I have to commend him for doing it, because it makes a shit load of sense, actually. Thanks for that explanation though, because I was just thinkin’ he’d gone off the deep end! Haha!

It's oversaturation. I was talking to a friend of mine and she likes James Corden's show but she's not into 1D. She didn't get the promo push that Harry got - she was like, who is this kid, why is he getting some sort of preferential treatment when he's yet to prove himself? Sure she ended up liking some of his songs, but she didn't get the whole idolization as if the show was salivating over him for no reason. And now having him on again is just... it makes no sense.

I think the week-long thing was probably a great idea promo-wise, but yeah, I don’t get the purpose of targeting the exact same audience for a fifth time. If they really wanted him to get more late night promo, he could go on a different late night show and target a different audience.

Hi cat. I need some help. My own kitty has been missing for two weeks now and I'm going to make missing posters soon. I'm really scared that I won't find my baby. She was my first friend and she was always there for me even at my lowest. She was one of the reasons why I didn't end it all long ago. I don't want to loose her. Please give my anxious self someting to hope for. I don't have much of it left since she disappeared. Just... please.

HAPPY LATE BATTLE OF HOGWARTS

Ok, so this isn't perfect and there’s some stuff I want to change but I’m pretty happy with out it turned out. I woke up this morning and decided I really wanted the train in the drawing but I couldn’t find anything that showed the train in front of Hogwarts (I probably didn’t look hard enough) so I just put it where I thought it looked best. So although it doesn’t match the real Hogwarts perfectly it’s close enough for me.

I have been on a little bullet journal hiatus this summer which is mostly why I haven't been posting much. I still love bullet journaling but I just had no reason to make spreads and to plan out time that didn't need planning if that makes sense (In better words I didn’t do anything this summer that required me to plan it out as ~intensely~ as I would in a bullet journal). But since I start school tomorrow I decided it was time to start again and what better way to start off a new school year than with a Harry Potter Spread! I haven’t done the monthly overview or the weekly spreads yet since I spent 3 hours on this page but I should have time tomorrow to do them and I am very excited.

I know lots of people have started school already but I hope everyone has a successful year and I look forward to seeing all of your posts and being able to interact with you all in the future! So feel free to message me at any time (If I haven’t answered your message I’m sorry I haven’t been on Tumblr but I will after I post this) and happy studying!

I feel really silly for not being overjoyed by the Doctor being cast as a female. I didn't like the Master's change to Missy. (I know you enjoyed her but I didn't to much nor the Master in season 3). After 12 regenerations, I don't see why the Doctor would change genders. (It's different than being a ginger.) I kinda wish that they had brought Jenny back instead. I don't think a timelord couldn't be an adventurous heroic female. I just wish it was a new character. Does this make sense?

well I think there are a lot of reasonable reservations to have about casting a woman as the Doctor, in terms of how it will be handled or not handled, the fact that DW’s problem has never been a lack of white women in leading roles so this is perhaps not as revolutionary as it would like to pretend, what exactly the implication is for gender here if we go the “boobs=woman now” route as we almost certainly will, etc

for all those reasons and more I’ve never really been that firmly in the woman Doctor camp, it was never really something I was pulling for. but I do happen to love Jodie Whittaker a lot and I think the show really desperately needs to do something to feel fresh again, so maybe her + a new showrunner can seal the deal.

i think there’s kind of two different things here. there’s the question of “can a woman play the doctor convincingly?” and the answer to that is unequivocally yes. “is casting a woman to play the doctor the correct and/or most progressive choice?” is a bit more subjective

I actually submitted fan art 3 or 4 times too, then tried to send an ask about it twice, which you also didn't get. Then you turned off anon asks, so I just gave up as for some reason Tumblr refuses to let me make an account. Said drawing was of some small not story-relevant post you made, so there is now no point in sending it. >.<

Dude, I really don’t understand!! If you have a problem submitting fanart, PLEASE message me. Anyone can message me, so please do so, I feel so bad :’c

Ok I’ve been meaning to make this post for awhile now, but I keep procrastinating lol

I wanted to discuss and compare between two anime that came out in the same year (2016) Which is ‘Kiss Him, Not Me’ and ‘Yuri on Ice’. I only wanted to compare the two pairings Victor x Yuuri and Kae x Nishima, and how different they are. And maybe how bullshit Victuri is at showing any romantic relationship lol. And point out the censorship bullshit people are still throwing out. Even if Kae and Neshima are both girls, they’re still a potential gay pairing (which I wish was canon), and the anime isn’t a Yuri too. And the fandoms constant complaining of lack of LGBT characters or couples, and how Yuri on Ice is the only one to represent that, which is bullshit. Ok anyway… this is pretty long sooo.. and I tried to make it short too, but I failed lol.

Hi there! I just wanna say I love your blog and thank you translating all the information Yana gives out! It makes me happy to know what our favorite artist talks about! And I have a question, I know you probably submitted this before but Sebastian and Vincent's resemble is actually intentional, right? Yana didn't really mean to make them look alike right?

Hi, no problem!

As for Sebastian & Vincent, Yana once said that there *is* a reason why they look alike, but she probably won’t reveal it in the manga! (Here’s the full translation of that blog post)

But she also said on twitter recently that she has problems with drawing good-looking adult men differently (so people can tell them apart), so yeah, I’d say their resemblance is intentional but also “un”intentional to some extent! xD

reasons why seungkwan is a sweetheart
  • even if he’s part of the maknae line, you can see how much 17 members rely on him, always checking his reactions, and expect him to lead everything (and are usually lost if he’s not there)
  • if no one is saying anything during an interview, even if he’s not the MC he either leads the members or starts talking even if it’s nonsense to save the situation
  • he always tries his best to give good advices, and more than anything: always encourage people a lot
  • he’s able to get along with everyone, even new staff really quickly
  • he likes to make a lot of jokes, but he’s always careful of people’s reaction: if it looks like he said/did something that would make other unconfortable or hurt them he apologizes right away and try to make them feel better by saying nice things about them or gives them a hug
  • he just gives tons of hug to people who are pouting even a bit, or just tons of hugs in general
  • he’s just extremely polite and respectful: like on One Fine Day, when they were given something to eat after picking bossam in Cheongsando, he was the first one to go to other workers to feed them
  • after Mingyu used one the bossam to stop a fire, he apologized right away with a 90° bow to workers who gave them bossam
  • he’s careful of everyone like he tries to make everyone shine, and he keeps telling fun stories about members who don’t talk much
  • he protects his members of any situation where they could be embarrassed: when people ask Jihoon’s height, when Jeonghan accidently spat on the floor (and he moved quickly to hide it with his foot), or when Hoshi was asked if he changed the choregraphy this week too but he didn’t so Seungkwan immediately explained how Hoshi had so much work that it was impossible for him to do so
  • he’s careful of other members likes and dislikes, like when a member suggested to cook curry in a cooking program, he immediately said « no we have a member who doesn’t like curry » before Woozi even said that he disliked it
  • he’s extremely observant and can tell when seungcheol is lying, when woozi is embarassed and acting like he’s not, or really pretty much anything about the members
  • he’s interrested in foreign members’ culture a lot, like  he kept saying to Minghao how he wanted to try chinese food, until Minghao had enough and took him and Jun  to a chinese restaurant
  • and he’s always talking in english, and even try to communicate with foreign fans by using it
  • he didn’t show much of his japanese yet, but it seems pretty good since he’s one the of member who says the longest sentences in japanese
  • he’s very affectionate with everyone really and even more to fans: he greets them with the biggest smile on his face, hands waving really high in the sky, and he  just looks so happy and excited
  • when he leaves he either greets the fans the same way, or looks really extremely sadden to leave
  • he always tries his hardest to communicate with fans, no matter if they are foreigners or not, he has no problem trying to use their language, and start asking them questions about where they are from even if the situation doesn’t really permit them to talk
  • so whenever he’s in a situation where he can’t really talk (like when he was doing Sukira for exemple) he writes on a notebook things he wants to ask to fans (« are you excited for the comeback? », or after asking to a foreigner where she’s from: « NY? » to make sure), saying thank you to fans « thank you for congratulating me for my graduation♡  », talking about his feelings « i’m going to sing later, i’m so nervous », « i missed you »
  • he’s also one of the member who communicate the most withs fans on SNS
  • because of Pledis’ rules he sometimes has to refuse things like taking pictures, or giving people his signature, and he was said to look extremely sorry and apparently kept apologizing everytime it happened
  • he always show the same respect to sunbae groups, no matter if they are a popular or an unpopular group, he’s admiring all of them and keeps talking about how much he liked one of their song or enjoyed things they did in the past, etc
  • he’s like some kind of Jeju ambassador: never letting anymore makes fun of it, even if playing along with other people’s jokes would make it easier for him to fit
  • he has his own insecurities like his weight or his dancing skills (he used to be considered one of the worst dancer) and how he’s the one being scold the most during recording usually, but he never blames anyone joking about his weight, or people scolding him during dance practice, or  during recording. He just keeps working hard to diet, and improve in any area he’s not confident in
  • he makes sure the members don’t loose confidence in themselves, like when seokmin had to show a special talent on a show but reactions weren’t so good, he took his hand even if he was really far away from him to show support
  • he showers members with praises about anything related to their insecurities: like randomly talking about how happy he is that seungcheol is the leader, how much he likes mingyu’s skin color, or how fun joshua is and actually not a boring person at all…
  • when Jeonghan joined the group and was awkward with everyone, Seungkwan was the first one who tried getting close to him, by doing a lot of silly jokes, and it was never said but it looks like it took some time for Minghao to become close to the members, and Seungkwan also seems like one of the first who started looking out for him
  • he loves babies and kids so much and if seungkwan is usually the most professional of the group in any given situation, kids are an exception for him: he just stops talking about what he was supposed to talk about and keeps playing with the kid and talk no-stop about how cute he/she is, or even almost forget about the « no photo of people without their consent » rule, because they are so cute to him
  • he knows every members’ birthday
  • seungkwan always thought during his predebut days that he would be the least popular, and his biggest fear has always been not getting any attention at all, not being noticed
  • he was said to be a soft-heart boy since predebut: he cried more than Chan when his father came, also cried the hardest when samuel’s mother read a letter written for seventeen’s members, was the only one who cried when he read his letter for his mother on parent’s day, cried when doing a video message to his mother on 17project and couldn’t stop crying after seeing her, cried at the boys wish concert, cried when seventeen won their first rookie award, and got extremely emotional on his last day at Sukira with Ryeowook and the rest of the S-line, and on the One Fine Day when the 3 leaders read their letters
  • he also cares a lot about member’s feelings, like he was afraid for seokmin’s feelings when no judge talked about his singing in 17project (while seungkwan was praised), or when vernon said he felt sorry to seventeen about SMTM, he said later in an interview « He was talking about how he was sorry. What’s there to be sorry about~ right? » ©
  • he loves his mom so much and keeps talking about her no matter what; he even almost gave up on being an idol because he didn’t want to leave his mom in jeju
  • he gets anxious really easily, and sometimes he’s tired but since he’s the moodmaker and has pride on this title, he doesn’t want to let other people seeing his tired-side and try to gives energy to people as much as he can no matter what
  • i have so many things to say but i’ll stop there, so just remember that seungkwan is a sweetheart and that he deserves all the love

I recently asked one of my closes friends out, and he said that he wasn't the type of person he was into. I am transgender, so I am not physically a male yet, and I am starting to believe this is the only reason no one really in comfortable with being with "someone like me." He didn't mean to hurt my feelings, he is very supportive, but it is start to make me feel very anxious when talking to people. It this too far fetched to assume?

Kii says:

I don’t think you’re being very fair to your friend by making this assumption. As long as he’s not otherwise transphobic (which, if you consider him one of your closest friends, he’s probably not?) then it might be as simple as he doesn’t want to date you. I have plenty of friends who I have a lot in common in and consider myself very close with, but I would never date them. If you want to know his reasoning, you should ask him instead of making an assumption.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who despises the idea of Lancelot as a plot line for the sake of angst and suspense because, even if it didn't validate horrible stereotypes, it's just extremely uncomfortable to have to watch, probably even more so if some viewers traumatic experiences with someone preying on them in a sexual way.

Have some more reasons why I don’t like it, then! :D

The VLD writers have emphasized Lotor as a character who’s unlike his father, and this and the overall hype around him suggests Lotor is going to stand out.

Making Lotor in any way abusive, someone who throws power around to get what he wants when it comes to prisoners and desperate people who can’t defend themselves- really doesn’t make him stand out at all. It’d make him a slightly different flavor of the general controlling unpleasant jerk we’ve seen most of the commanders play into. It makes him another Morvok, another Warden, another Prorok.

I don’t think Lotor is going to be a sweet innocent puppy. I mean, with the promise that the galra political situation is going to get pretty dang interesting I expect to see that in order for Lotor to stay at least near the top of this suddenly headless organization, he’s going to need to be the type to roll up his sleeves and go for the kill.

DotU Lotor was a very calculating character, but also one with his own standards. I understand there was a plotline where a villain separate from the drule (galra) was planning to extort the paladins for medicine they needed, and Lotor’s response was to attack him and prevent him from doing that, because what the hell dude? Allura is dying.

So that’s going to be interesting if that’s a trait they boil over to VLD Lotor, and I swear I heard a writer interview mentioning that “odd sense of chivalry” is one of the things that appealed to them about the character. Which, bereft of the general abject sexism in DotU, “weirdly chivalrous” cannot coexist with “predatory romantic behavior” without the latter making the former seem like a palatable farce that has no actual deeper bearing on their character.

You cannot say “this guy’s predatory but he’s like. noble about it.” It doesn’t work that way. Chivalry at its core is respect for people and their autonomy and that covers people you find attractive. The whole concept of chivalry is “acknowledge that you have power and maybe don’t leverage that over defenseless people to get what you want at their expense.” They’re either playing chivalrous Lotor or they’re playing creep Lotor. You can’t have both. It ain’t gonna work.

The only reason that DotU… sort of, got away with that idea is because of, again, a lot of sexist writing, that humanizing and sympathizing with Lotor is no problem because they’re okay more or less sweeping under the rug what he’s done to Allura. And Force pretty much went the opposite way- throwing away Lotor’s chivalrous elements in favor of playing him up as creepy and controlling, which… I’m not a fan of since it feels like they chose to retain the less compelling side of his personality.

Honestly, a calculating person who’s spent their entire life raised in a semi-dystopic spacefaring empire trying to grapple with a strongly-held sense of personal morals would be really interesting to watch, especially in how it could create serious conflict, because there’s no way in hell Zarkon’s ideas about “weakness” and emotional sensitivity have not majorly affected his relationship with his son, especially considering in DotU Zarkon mocked Lotor all the time, and Lotor historically has been a very emotional person. (biggest reason why I think his heroic counterpart is most likely Lance, who’s the most emotionally free-flowing of the team!)

Coming to you because I know you're among the positive blogs. I know Cas can't possibly be permanently dead. But his death scene was so... odd? I mean, why did Cas have to go after Lucifer all of a sudden like that? Did he not know about Crowley's plan and thought Winchesters were in trouble? They were about to seal Lucifer away. So Cas coming didn't make sense? It felt like it only happened so that Cas could "die". I wonder if the aftermath of his temporary death is what really matters here 1/2

2/2 It just felt like Cas only went after Lucifer so that there would be an excuse for his death scene. And since I know Cas won’t stay dead, I imagine that the reason he had to “die” was actually to bring something more than shock to the finale. I imagine it’ll have to do with Dean. Could be about exposing his feelings, but could also be he does something to return him, and that will play a part in S13. Sorry if I’m rambling. I just have a lot of thoughts. And feelings. Thanks if you answer. :)

Yep. So we had Jess/Cas (again, after the whole seeing him in s8 thing)

And Colette/Cas (like this is new)

So I had this first initial feeling too, that it felt like Cas mainly died for Dean’s man pain, because his story was not explained at all, we don’t know if he was manipulated / brainwashed, if he was right or not? However, knowing now from Jibcon that the important thing is how Cas is affected / transformed from the death and that we will see Dean’s reaction further in 13x01 (and most probably Pining!Dean for a good chunk of s13) I am ok with it :D

I’ll link you to my meta post about 12x23 as it shows all my thoughts on this!
