You had gotten it printed into your brain. It was too late now, you couldn’t forget your idea, no matter what. Bruce knew, and didn’t try to stop you from doing what you were gonna do anyway. Besides, he thought it was cute.
What was your idea ? Simple. Damian never had a normal childhood. He was still a kid, only eleven…So he still had a chance at having somewhat of a normal childhood (if you put his nightly activities on the side…and the fact that he had been raised to be a killer).
Against all odds, you and Damian clicked pretty fast. He warmed up to you the fastest…He felt like you were the only one of the bat family not judging him in any way. Also, you told him off when he was going to far, and he found that he couldn’t speak badly to you, that you had an effect on him that made him want to be nicer. Better…In a word, you quickly became his mommy.
He never really had an actual mother. Talia wasn’t exactly loving with him, and she did try to kill him a few times, succeeding once (a memory you don’t like to remember). You were the first one, even before Bruce or Dick, to make him feel loved and to make him feel what love really was…How could he resist that ?
The first time he called you “mom”, not “mother”, “mom”, you cried, and the poor boy thought he did something wrong. You explained to him that it was “happy tears”, but you’re not sure he understood. He gave you an awkward hug, and you couldn’t stop but smile. It’s that exact moment that forged the idea of trying to show him what a normal childhood was. But, even though he considered you his mom, he wasn’t going to make things easy for you and your plans.
Hey guys! It’s me again, and I sorta wanted to write a Tom meet-cute because I daydream about those 25/8? This is just soft, fluffy and sweet, I hope you like it!
Author’s note: Tom is my screensaver and I went to Barnes and Noble today and the girl that was ringing me up was really, really nice and we were talking about Marvel because I was buying a comic, (I finally found Spider-Man Blue, three cheers for me!) and she was literally like, “oh my gosh, you and Tom would be super adorable together! I can just see it now!” And I sort of died? So this is just a story branching off of that?
“Is that your boyfriend?” The saleslady asked, referencing the girl’s phone, as a smile that stretched from ear to ear crossed over her features. “He comes in quite often, has mostly good taste in books, although, sometimes his choices are questionable at best. Likes fantasy and adventure, some good, some not.”
The girl’s eyes widened and her mouth flopped open and shut like a guppy’s as she attempted to stutter out an appropriate response.
Tom Holland was the girl’s screensaver, and no, he most definitely wasn’t her boyfriend because he had no idea that she existed. Even if he had stumbled across her fan account, she’d just be another fan to Tom, maybe she’d even stand out for being an ultimate creep.
“He’s a very polite boy, you’re so lucky! My daughters are only interested in self-obsessed assholes.” The lady began to scan her choices, continuing to rant about her daughter’s apparent bad taste in men.
The girl was still struggling to comprehend her situation. The saleswoman clearly knew Tom, who apparently came in often, as did she, so she couldn’t really say that he wasn’t her boyfriend without looking like an utter and complete weirdo.
Pondering, she bit the inside of her cheek. Their paths had never crosses, so what could be the harm in indulging in a little fantasy? “We’ve been dating since last Spring,” She said, not daring to look into the kind eyes of the saleswoman.
“Ah, I see. I bet you two look absolutely adorable together, maybe turn him onto some high quality literature next time he comes in, eh?” The woman smiled from across the counter, waving the girl’s new Philip Roth books in the air before handing them over.
Reaching for her five purchases, the girl smiled and nodded, “I’ll do my very best!” She called and waved as she left the store.
Over the next few days, Tom wandered back into the bookstore. Navigating his way down the store’s narrow aisles, Tom searched for something that he could read on the plane that he’d inevitably be boarding sometime soon. He paused every so often to pick up a book, glance over the summary on the back, and reshelve it to it’s proper home.
After shuffling down another section, he came across the very same saleswoman who had helped the girl moonlighting as his girlfriend.
“How come you guys never come in together? She knows some good authors, I’m sure she’d love to help broaden your horizons.” The saleswoman said, maintaining her position, crouched over to straighten and tidy the shelves.
Tom looked around, unsure of who the woman was speaking to, because as far as he knew, none of his friends knew about this store. They opted for Barnes and Noble, while he prefered to dig.
“Yes, you. I just met your girlfriend and she’s lovely. Great taste in books.” The woman said again.
Scratching his head, Tom wasn’t exactly sure what to say, so he played along, not wanting to be rude. Surely she must be confusing him with someone else, because he didn’t have a girlfriend to share books with, as much as he’d like one.
“Yeah, we just have different schedules, she’s usually in class when I peruse the bookstore.” Tom said, bending down to help the woman on the floor.
“She’s very cute, and very sweet. It’s nice to see young people reading something that isn’t their twitter feed.” The woman said, taking one last glance at the fixed up shelf, before nodding decisively and standing up.
Tom stood as well, chuckling, “My Dad’s an author, so reading has always been apart of my life.”
“You guys are lovely, let me know if I can be of any help.” The woman began to walk away and Tom shook his head and laughed.
“How do you know that my girl is my girl? We never come in at the same time.” Tom asked suddenly, curiosity leaking into his bloodstream.
“She comes in more often than you, buys more books than you, and you’re her screensaver. It’s quite cute, actually.” The saleslady called out.
There it is, Tom thought, she might be a fan. He couldn’t think of any other reason that he’d be her screensaver. Shoving his hands into his pockets, Tom smirked and picked out not one, but two books. One to leave at the register for her the next time that he came in, and one for him to read while he was on the press tour.
“That is so thoughtful! She’ll love it!” The woman said from behind the cash register, clapping her hands together. “I’ll make sure that she gets it, alright? Wanna put a little message in it, promise I won’t peak! I’ve got a pen right here!” She chirped happily.
“Yeah, alright, I’ll actually do that. Could I please borrow your pen?” Tom asked.
Drawing a heart to conclude the note to his ‘girlfriend’ that he’d never met, he said thank you one to the lady one last time and left the store.
The very next morning, the girl pushed her wallet back into her purse at the bookstore’s register, waiting for the same saleswoman to finish ringing her up.
“Saw your boyfriend yesterday, left a little something for you.” The saleswoman smiled, turning around to sift through the books on display behind her to find Tom’s choice for the girl.
The girl felt the fiery licks of scarlet coloring her skin again. Her hands shook, surely Tom thought that she was a mega, ultra stalker. He’d probably left her a note begging her to kindly fuck off. She wished Mother Earth would swallow her up the same way it did to Sita in ‘The Ramayana.’
“Don’t be embarrassed, silly, it’s endearing.” The woman handed her a book titled, ‘Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair’ by Pablo Neruda. “He’s paid for it, of course, and he left you a little note on the first page. Lent him the pen myself.”
“He really shouldn’t have,” the girl stuttered, her hands almost noticeably shaking as she held the book within her palms.
Inside, Tom had scribbled out,
Seeing as you’re my girlfriend, I thought it was only fitting to leave you at least twenty love poems. Left you a song of despair as well, seeing as we haven’t met yet.
Your devoted boyfriend, Tom
“Could I go back and pick one out for him as well?” The girl asked, feeling a tiny bit braver after reading Tom’s cheeky message for her.
“Of course! I love this, I wish more couples did things like this for each other, it’s endearing!” The saleswoman smiled, shutting the register.
After picking out an appropriate novel, she left the store, smiling, blushing and practically gliding on air.
Later that very afternoon, Tom was chased by the overbearing coldness of the afternoon breeze, and his own excitement over whether or not she’d received his present, back into the bookstore.
Not even bothering to look at anything, he came to a halt in front of the saleswoman, who upon seeing him enter, tore through her display to retrieve the novel that she’d left for him.
“Did she get it? Did she like it, I haven’t heard from her yet.” Tom asked, beaming at the woman.
“She loved it! She loved it so much, in fact, that she’s left one for you as well.” She handed him a novel called ‘One Day.’ “She’s left a love note for you as well!”
Tearing the book open, Tom came across her delicate handwriting sprawled in black ink.
Here’s to hoping that I meet you one day.
With all the love in my heart-
Your mystery girlfriend
Fighting the urge to hug the book closer to his chest, Tom made a choice.
“I’m going to go pick her a book out right now, and I’m going to wait right here until she comes back in. I want to give her this one in person.” Tom turned on his heel to search for the perfect book for to give her, when the saleswoman informed him that she’d already been in today.
“Alright then, I’ll be back first thing tomorrow.” Tom blushed, but continued on his way down through the shelves, desperate to find the perfect book for her.
Deciding on ‘You,’ by Caroline Kepnes, Tom paid and left the store, planning to return right when the bookstore opened.
The very next morning, Tom was perched in a cushy, plush chair, obscured by stacks and shelves housing novels, waiting for her. He’d positioned himself perfectly, ensuring that he could see the register at all times, but that the people at the register wouldn’t be able to spot him, unless they knew where he was hiding.
He was completely on edge. Every time the door opened, he’d practically leap to his feet, only to be met with disappointment because mostly everyone who wandered in off the street was either male, or too old to be his mystery girlfriend.
Finally, when Tom had all but lost hope, a girl so otherworldly beautiful that Tom truly debated in his mind whether or not the girl was even a girl, he briefly wondered if she was an ethereal fairy of sorts, floated into the room.
Her hair reflected light the same way that waves in the sea did, and her voice was so soft and warm that it sounded as he imagined his favorite hot drink would taste. She waved hello to the saleswoman before diving into the poetry section, hidden deep within the store.
Jumping to his feet, Tom rushed to finally meet her, rolling the book he planned to give her in between his palms.
Checking his hair one more time, Tom came to a stop next to her.
“Excuse me miss, I was just wondering if you happen to be my mystery girlfriend, who apparently has better taste in books than me?” Tom’s confidence was evaporating as she turned around to face him.
She was even prettier up close and Tom wanted to scratch his own eyes out for beginning the conversation with such a shit line.
Thankfully, she smiled, a strawberry jam colored blush widening across her delicate features. “That would be me, but unfortunately, you’ve caught me off guard and now I don’t have anything to give to you.” Her eyes refused to meet his own for more than a few seconds.
She could barely believe any of this. First, her celebrity crush and her happened to both shop at the same bookstore. Then, he goes along with the charade of being her boyfriend, and even leaves her gifts, and now, he was standing in front of her.
He looked like Prince Charming and her brain was turning to mush.
“Lucky for you, I don’t mind. But, I do have a book for you.” Holding the novel, ‘You,’ out to her, he began to sway from foot to foot, nervous that she’d hate it.
“Funny enough, that’s one of my favorite books,” She laughed, “But are you planning to kill me?” She referenced the plot of ‘You,’ which was more or less a horror story, hardly the conventional romance.
Stuttering, Tom attempted to clear his name. “I just thought it was fitting, seeing as we met in a bookstore, and so did Joe and Beck,” the main characters who become romantically involved in the novel, “And really, I just wanted you to have the line about the mouse in the house.”
“Are you going to get a cat to chase me out?” She teased, and Tom laughed.
“Absolutely not, you’re just all I’ve been thinking about. I wanna know you, and learn from your apparently epic choices in literature.” Tom said, leaning in closer to her.
“Than sit, and I’ll pick you something out?” She questioned, shyly moving to sit on the floor, her arm curled around more than a few options.
The pair scooched into one another one the floor, and the saleswoman watched, smiling from her spot at the register. Her two favorite customers were finally together.
Her eyes twinkled as she turned the radio onto a station that played only love songs.
They read love poems, and love stories together, so it only seemed fair that they listened to only love songs as well.
“I am sorry guys, I didn’t think that the vampire would …” I said
“You didn’t think? You almost killed Sam!” Dean yelled.
I looked down, afraid of looking into Dean’s disappointed eyes. This was my worse nightmare ever since I started hunting with my half-brothers Sam and Dean. I was afraid that one day I would get one of them killed.
“Dean, it’s not her fault! She almost got killed too!” Sam tried to reason with Dean.
“Better her than you.” Dean said under his breath. Sam did not hear it but I did. Dean thought that I did not hear it because he rushed to help Sam into a chair to check his injuries. Sam had a rather ugly cut on his abdomen.
“CASS!! We need you here!” Dean yells. A slight flutter of wings and the angel appeared. Cass did not ask questions and went straight to healing Sam. I looked at them and realized one thing. They were the original trio. Two brothers and an angel. I was just a burden that they had to bear. After Adam and mom died, they took me in because “I was family.” Honestly, they did it because the felt guilty for leaving Adam in the cage with Lucifer.
I rushed into my room before either of them saw the tears in my eyes. It hurt, knowing that I was a burden and that I was not wanted there. I walked into my room, shut the door and collapsed onto the floor. There was a sharp pain on my thigh where I fell into some broken glass. I slowly got off the floor and started taking off my jeans. I bit my lips to stop myself from yelling out in pain.
There was long gnash on my thigh. I guessed the adrenaline kept me from feeling the pain. Suddenly, the room started to spin. The next thing I know, I was on the floor and then, there was darkness.
My eyes opened slowly. It was like in the movies where the unconscious person slowly regains consciousness. Everything went from blurry to HD in about five seconds and three blinks of the eye. I was on my bed. It smelt like it. I heard some awful yelling only to realize that Sam and Dean were having a full blown argument just five feet away from me. I closed my eyes and pretended I was still asleep.
“She is nothing more than a burden. If she had told us she was hurt, none of this would be necessary!” Dean yelled.
“Dean, you were too worried about rubbing her mistake into her face to even check her for injuries. This is your fault Dean!” Sam replied, slightly agitated.
“She almost got you killed Sam! What was I supposed to do? You are my brother! She is nothing more than dad’s bastard of a daughter!” Dean said.
“You are just jealous because she had a normal life and you did not! Face it Dean, she is our sister! We are supposed to be loving brothers.” Sam argued. Dean said nothing more and stormed out. I heard Sam pull a chair and the next thing I knew, he was holding my hand.
“Y/N, I know we have not been the best brothers in the world. I am so sorry. I should have have taken better care of you when Dean did not. In some ways, I understand you, being the younger one. But don’t worry. It will all change now. I promise, you won’t ever be a burden to us.” Sam said.
I decided that it was time that I “woke up,” so I, channeled my inner actress and faked my awakening. I made sure I blinked a couple of times, moved around slowly and moaned in pain. I opened my eyes and saw a teary eyed Sam in front of me. Sam had a big smile on his face.
“You are awake, are you alright?” asked Sam.
“I am fine, what happened?” I asked.
“Well, you were hurt. There was a huge cut on your thigh. It was worse than my injury. Why didn’t you tell me or Dean?” He asked.
“I didn’t want to be a burden, sorry. I thought I could handle it myself. I am so sorry.” I said almost crying.
“Hey, hey, hey, don’t apologize. You did not do anything wrong alright. You are not a burden. If anything, you are a gift to us. Don’t tell Dean, but I have always wanted a younger sister.” Sam said.
“I won’t tell Dean. Thank you Sam.” I said.
“Call me Sammy, like Dean does.” Sam said, holding my hand.
“Okay Sammy, I love you.” I said hesitantly.
“I love you to sissy. Get some rest, I will bring you food later.” Sam said. Sam stood up, gave me a kiss on my forehead and left my room. I felt a little better and for the first time, I felt like I was loved. I rolled over and slept with a smile on my face.
After that incident, Sam and I had become closer. He and I would spend hours reading books together in the library. He convinced Dean that I could stay in the bunker and provide information to them while they were on hunts. It proved to be a good idea as I helped them crack a few of their hard cases. Sam was very proud of me and would tell me so.
Dean on the other hand was different. He started to treat me worse. He would only talk to me because Sam was in the room. When Sam was not around, he would ignore me completely. I figured that I could not be too greedy. I assumed that Dean was jealous that I was spending more time with Sam. He made sure that there were always out on cases so I would have less time with Sam. Sam realized what he was doing but did not confront him.
“Y/N, we found a case. It is in Michigan.” Sam said while standing outside my room door.
“What? But you guys just got back yesterday. Don’t you guys need to rest and recover?” I asked. Honestly, I just wanted some quality time with Sam. I missed him while he went on hunts.
“I know sissy, but Dean says that it is important and there were no other hunters around to help.” he said, looking at me sadly.
“Well, I guess that can’t be helped. I missed you though.” I said. Sam came in a sat beside me on the bed.
“I know that Dean has been doing this because he is jealous that we are together so much. I should have said something, I am sorry baby.” Sam said. He only called me baby when he wanted to make sure I did not get angry.
“I know too. Don’t worry. He is your brother first. I come second. I am okay with it, as long as both of you come back in one piece. Contrary to what you may think, I do love Dean too. I love him like how I loved daddy. Dean is a lot like daddy.
“Baby, I promise I will talk to Dean about this alright. I also promise to make sure Dean and I come back in one piece. I love you so much.” Sam said, giving me a big hug.
“I love you both, my big brothers!” I said, returning the hug.
“We’ll be back in a couple of days. We will check in every night and whenever we need too. Behave!” Dean said, standing outside my door. Sam huffed in frustration and turned toward Dean to say something but I replied before he could.
“Yes Dean, I will. Don’t worry about me.” I said. Sam turned around me and he mouthed an apology to me. He stood up and followed Dean. I took a deep breath and looked around my room. Another few days of being alone.
I spent the next few days cleaning the bunker. I washed all the bed sheets, deep cleansed the kitchen and dusted the place. When I wasn’t cleaning, I was knee deep in the lore, trying to help Sam and Dean with the up and coming monster.
After I had identified the monster, I went back to bed. It was already midnight and I was exhausted from all the work. I slept well, knowing my brothers will be back the next day. Around four in the morning, I received a call from Sam. I immediately panicked. I was worried something had happen to either of them.
“Sam! What’s wrong?” I asked. My heart was racing.
“It’s Dean, he got hurt bad. He might not make it.” said Sam. His voice was breaking.
“Where you you guys? I will be there as soon as I can.” I said. I got up and started stripping off my pajamas.
“Michigan General Hospital, drive safe sissy.” Sam said. I was heartbroken. I could sense that if Dean died, Sam would be devastated. I wished that it was me that was dying. Then, an idea hit me. I knew what I had to do.
“Sam, don’t worry. Dean will pull through. I promise you.” I said before hanging up.
There was only one way to save Dean. I put on my clothes, collected several items and then left. I was scared of what I was about to do. But I was more afraid of losing Dean.
“Hello darlin, what do I owe the pleasure?” Crowley asked.
“My brother, Dean. Save him.” I said.
“What are you willing to offer, my sweet young thing?” Crowley asked, stroking my cheek. I looked in Crowley’s eyes and sensed some sympathy, well, enough for the King of Hell.
“Anything.” I said. The next thing I knew, Crowley’s lips were on mine.
I walked in the hospital and saw Sam and Dean in the hallway. I ran straight towards Dean and gave him a big hug. The next thing I knew, I was violently pulled away from Dean.
“This is all your fault!” Dean yelled at me.
“What? I don’t understand!” I said. Did he know about the deal that I made?
“If you had done your research, I would not have gotten hurt.” he said. Then, Sam yanked me away from Dean and into his arms. He held me close to himself.
“Dean, it is not her fault. We all did research and came up with the same conclusion. Don’t pin this on her, you selfish bastard!” Sam yelled at Dean. Sam then took my hand and pulled me out with him.
“Where the hell do you think you are going?” Dean asked.
“I am riding with Y/N!” Sam yelled back. I tried to stop Sam but he was too strong for me. I let him pull me out of the hospital. Sam opened the passenger seat door and gently shoved me inside the car. He then went around and got in the driver’s seat. We were on the road in five seconds.
It has been three weeks since Sam left Dean in Michigan. It has been an incredibly stressful week for all three of us. Sam and Dean were talking more these day, it seems like they have solved their issues. Sam has been extra loving to me. He spent more time with me. I took full advantage of it, knowing I only had a week before my time was up.
I yelled Sam’s name. No answer. I walked out to his room. He was not there. I checked the kitchen and then the library, no one but Dean. I walked in slowly. Dean was having a beer, at 10 a.m. It did not look good.
“Dean, where is Sam?” I asked.
“None of your business.” Dean said, gulping down the beer. Normally, I would have apologized and walked away. But since I only had days left, I figured that I should know the truth to why he hates me so much. I pulled a chair and sat in front of him.
“Why do you hate me so much Dean?” I asked, looking straight into his eyes.
“I don’t hate you. Why do you think I do?” Dean asked, looking away. I was furious. He was trying so hard to hide his hate for me. I made a deal to save his life and he won’t even look at me.
“Really? Ever since I you found out about me, you have treated me like shit. I tried everything I could to please you. I saved your… I am sorry that your duo became a trio. I am sorry dad did not treat you like he treated Adam and I. I am sorry I had a mother and you did not. But this is not a reason for you to just pretend I did not exist!” I yelled.
“Fine! I hate you! I hate that you had a better life with dad than me. I hate that you just barged into our lives and made us responsible for you. Most of all, I hate that you took Sammy away from me. You are nothing but a burden. You should have never been with us. If I could, I would put you in the cage with Lucifer!” Dean said. I was shocked. I did not know his hate had run so deep.
“Maybe your wish would come true.” I said. I stood up and walked out of the library.
That night, I wanted to spend the whole night with Sam. It would be my last night with my beloved brother. I would miss him the most. I faked being afraid of a nightmare to get him to stay with me. We spent the whole night talking and laughing. Sam finally slept beside me. I was awake. I spent about an hour watching him sleep. That was how I wanted to remember my brother, peaceful and happy.
Finally, I slowly got out of the bed so Sam would not wake up. I changed my clothes. I took one of Sam’s flannel and tied it around my waist. That way, I would have something of Sam’s with me. Then, I took Dean’s shirt and I wore it. I now have both of my brothers with me. I was ready for the consequence of the deal.
I walked out of the bunker. Outside, Crowley was already waiting for me. He saw the tears in my eyes. I thought I saw him hesitate. Then he clicked his finger and we left.
Being in the cage with Lucifer was absolute hell. He was exactly how Sam described but ten times worse. He would fill my head with lies. He only mentally abused me. Apparently, Lucifer was a gentleman and would not hit a woman. That was the only good thing going for me. I was to be Lucifer’s punching bag. It keeps him from attacking the rest of hell. This went on for a long time.
— Sam’s POV
It has been almost five years since Y/N left. Dean and I have searched high and low for her. Nothing. I was devastated. Dean was sad too but somehow, I felt that he was hiding something. I never got to confronting him because I was afraid that he will leave me too. Fast forward to now, where I have to be in the cage with Lucifer to get him to work together with God.
I am afraid that Y/N is in hell. We found and killed a few crossroads demon before Crowley came and told us to “go to hell” when we asked if Y/N made a deal. I could have sworn that he knew something about Y/N. I did not press the issue. Part of me was afraid of what I would find out. The other part of me just missed her.
Now, I am about to be transported into Lucifer’s cage. I was nervous. I shook that feeling away and nodded to Crowley. He seemed a little hesitant but he motioned for Rowena to start the spell. In an instant, I was in the cage with Lucifer. He smiled at me and pointed behind me. I looked behind me, there was no one. Then I looked down and I saw her. My sister was in the cage.
I rushed to her. She seemed unharmed. There was no bruises on her body. I noticed that she was wearing Dean’s favorite t-shirt that he lost and on her waist, my flannel. I shook her and tried to wake her up. She did not move an inch. I turned around to Lucifer and was pushed down.
“Now, now, let’s not get antsy. I know you have many questions, but one at a time please.” Lucifer said with a smile on his face.
“What is she doing here?” I asked.
“She made a deal with dear ol’ Crowley. Simple as that.” Lucifer said.
“But why would she make a deal? We weren’t dying or anything. Sure we were hurt but both of us was not injured to the point of death except… Dean.” I said, looking down at my poor sister. I was mortified.
“Yup, dear sister made a deal to save her brother’s life. How touching. That is actually the reason why I was so nice to her. She knew what it felt to be abandoned by a loved one. The same way God forsook me, Dean forsook her.” Lucifer said.
I knelt down and held my sister’s body to my own. I felt the tears filling my eyes. I was filled with guilt and anger. I was angry at myself and Dean not knowing that she made a deal. I was guilty of not confronting Dean about mistreating her. I felt like a failure. I had failed my only sister.
“Enough of this sappy feelings. Let’s bring the guilty party into this court! I shall be the judge this time.” Lucifer said as he snapped his fingers.
“Dean Winchester! How do you plead?” asked Lucifer.
Okay. You dont know how much I hurt for Will when we see him again, 3 years later after Digestivo.
The guy is still fcuking trying so hard to move on from THAT. And the fact that Will is still trying so hard to move on speaks how strong he can still feel the pull even after 3 fcuking years later with a wife and a kid and a new house and a life free from the FBI. He is still actively fighting all of it.
The guy didnt let Jack in his house, despite the freezing cold and despite the fact the guy still values his relationship with Jack, enough to listen to him even though the guy didnt want to talk about the murders at all. Will could have drove Jack away and not talk to him at all. Instead, he was “I can’t just shoo you away so let’s hear it anyway.” But not in his house where the guy could not bear to hear the echoes of his and Jack’s voices talking about murders and serial killers bouncing in the spaces his whole new life is built around (because it sure hell will bounce like crazy). Jack and his cases are tainted with thoughts of Hannibal, the guy would not NOT be reminded of Hannibal and the past life he’s trying so hard not to think anymore.
The guy didnt go fishing with his wife and kid.
Instead, he stayed at home to fix a door.
We are talking about a guy who used to have a deskspace dedicated for crafting his own lures, near his bed. Heck the guy was a fcuking fly fisherman and he was good at it! But the guy could not bear to share that outdoor activity he loves/loved with his new family without being reminded of Abigail, his murder-daughter who was given and then taken away by Hannibal,
It was only in his memory palace but he sure is fcuking so happy about the idea, look at that face. Im not crying, you are.
When we see him 3 years later, Dear Will has not been able to put the past behind him at all. He’s still at that stage where reminders can take him back to the past as if he’s still living in it. Emotions are still attached to those thoughts and memories, and Will still feels those emotions strongly.
And what makes this hurt more is the fact that Hannibal made it sure just so.
The moment Hannibal surrendered, all of Will’s plans of moving on were screwed. Will can change his life completely, new house, a happily married life, new things and activities to occupy his mind and time BUT Will would not be able to completely not think about Hannibal when (1) he still hears what’s going on with Hannibal, and (2) he can’t completely avoid it.
With Hannibal’s arrest:
1. Hannibal will be all over the news.
In this way, Hannibal is still in Will’s fcuking face, unless Will decides to move to a remote area or island. But we know that didnt happen
2. There will be trial, in which Will will be very likely dragged into. Oh yes he certainly was.
3. More Hannibal will be on the news.
You see? The news will be covering his arrest, his stay at bshci, his trial, after the trial — the Chesapeake Ripper is caught and that is sensational my friends, the media will follow him and will talk about him for g-d knows how long.
How long, you say? Looks like Hannibal’s trial was a thing for all 3 years??
Poor Will. And the fact that Will’s visit made it cover story worthy means Hannibal the Cannibal is still relevant after 3 years since his arrest, i mean surrender.
Hannibal knows Will’s recipe for moving on — time, new environment, new people, not knowing what’s up with your ex Hannibal. Will may not be able to forget but these ingredients will gradually dull his feelings until they are no more. Someday, it’ll all be nothing but just memories for Will. And Hannibal knows that him leaving, just as Will wanted him to, will ensurely make that happen.
So what’s Hannibal’s plan? Get in Will’s face and make sure he wont be able to entirely escape it. Keep dear Will emotionally attached with memories of you.
You tried so hard Will but Hannibal knows so much about how your mind works.
Okay, about the fishing
My sorry ass managed to look away from Hugh Dancy’s glorious face only now in my Nth rewatch and see the thing past him
Wait. What is that golden circle thing behind him. Looks familiar…
And in a different angle… pardon the dumb quality, no giffing tools for me so if you want it clearer i suggest to go back to this scene in that episode.
Yes, it IS that fishing gear the guy has
— this magnifying glass.
Because his fishing gear isnt out of sight and boxed up, it does seem Will was still fishing!
HOWEVER this does not guarantee or say with absolutecertainty that Will DID NOT stop fishing. (i mean, for all we know, he could have just put it on display or something but not really using it, or maybe it could be Molly’s. The woman CAN fish at the very least so…)
What it tells us is that there is possibility Will was still fishing.
HOWEVER this does not change the fact that Will chose not to go fishing with his wife and kid on that day.
Because for some reason, Will needs or wants to be alone?
Or because fishing with his wife and kid family that day isn’t ‘good’ for him since it reminds him of his murder daughter Abigail?
A lot of things could be on his mind then since what does he do when he wants to quiet his thoughts? He fixes stuff. What are those things that could be on his mind?
Maybe Hannibal’s note just came in and somehow he feels like it’s something to do with those peculiar murders in Chicago and Buffalo he had been reading about? Wait, so does that entail that Will somehow knew Jack will pay him a visit about the murders any day by then??? Or maybe even on that exact day because he knows Jack knows what’s in Hannibal’s note since the fbi 'screens’ the ingress and egress of Hannibal’s parcels? Another possible reason why Will chose not leave the house that day????Woah, no i am not looking more into that or i will digress
Whichever the case may be why Will chose not to go fishing with his wife and kid that day, he was trying to 'stay away’ from the memories of Hannibal the past he left behind, coming back to haunt him.
The question I get the most is, ‘Do you want [Iris] to have powers?’ And while I would say, ‘Yes, I would love to strap some leather on for an episode’, I love that she provides this human quality to this very superhuman show. It’s something that our audience can all identify with. None of us are probably gonna get struck by lightning tomorrow and end up being the fastest man alive, I mean it could happen. But this show reminds us, you know, if you did get struck by lightning tomorrow, are you Barry Allen, or are you a villain? Who are you today, and what kind of person are you? So, it’s really fun for me to get to play this really human element on our show. I think [Iris] is extraordinarily important to Barry’s superhero narrative.
