As some people know, I was working for some time on a fic about Laurent speaking to Auguste’s statue throughout the years, but decided to give up on it because I’m lazy and also, honestly, because it’s just kind of sad.
However I wanted to post just the last scene of Laurent bringing Damen to the statue, simply because it can stand on its own, it’s finished, it’s happy, and I know some people did actually want to read that fic. To those people: I’m sorry! Here’s a one-shot, likely riddled with grammatical errors, just for you.
Laurent could tell that Damen was anxious, which was a rare occurrence, and looked paradoxical on a man who struggled to look anything other than regal. He hid his worry poorly, as he hid everything, wringing his hands together and then letting them go again. His dark eyebrows were furrowed and his mouth was pulled into a straight and serious line. In spite of all this, he still managed to walk with an air of purpose. Perhaps it looked like confidence, if you did not know him.
