Why I want to stop watching the Blacklist (a.k.a., A Rant by Me)

This used to be my favorite show. Hands down. I would legitimately schedule things around it; I would leave events early to make sure I could watch it live; I would post about it on Tumblr and read other people’s posts the rest of the evening; I would search through multiple review site’s posts the next day.

I loved the dynamic between Red and Liz. I loved the mysteries and the little morsels of answers that we would get. I loved how, in the S1 finale, it felt like no one was safe: Meera got killed; Harold got attacked and nearly killed; Tom was shot and left for dead.

But, over the past few seasons, this show has become the bane of my TV-watching experience.

I would watch it, sure. But that was because I didn’t want the folks on Tumblr spoiling it for me. It was because I thought we were finally getting answers – which is what they teased us with every other week – only to feel so disappointed.

This last year, I made reaction videos for a friend of mine for every single episode. You know what one of the most commonly said things in those videos is? “Well, at least next week’s preview looks good.” Only to be disappointed in that episode, and to say the same thing about next week’s preview, and the cycle repeated itself until we actually got a half-way decent episode (which was usually some kind of finale or premiere, because that’s the only time actual shit can happen – during Sweeps Week).

Over and over again, both online and in person, I compared this to those scenes in cartoons where someone puts a carrot on a fishing pole in front of a donkey, and the donkey runs so hard to reach the carrot, only to never get there.

That’s how this show has felt the past season or two.

It’s only a shadow of what it once was, and I’m tired of it. I wish I could stop watching it.

So many other people I follow on Tumblr have said they’ve either stopped or thought about stopping. By comparison, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad and the Walking Dead seemingly increase their viewership every season; the Blacklist has been NBC’s lowest-rated show in the demo for the last year, IIRC. The ratings for the Redemption spin-off were so low, the showrunners tried to pass it off as a one-off miniseries, when it was ALWAYS intended to be its own full-length show.

I understand that the show does well in DVR viewership numbers, and it was the most expensive TV show that Netflix had purchased when Season 1 was released.

But, this show continues to disappoint me. There’s hardly anything I like about it anymore. Hell, even James Spader, who’s a master at his craft, seems to be bored with it. His monologues are becoming more and more cliche, and even his amazing performances can’t save this dumpster-fire.

Its protagonist, Liz, is all over the fucking place in terms of characterization. First, she was naive and learned her “husband” had used and abused her. Then, she went to the dark side, chained him up on a boat and said she’d never forgive him for what he’d done. Then, she apparently forgave him, slept with him, had his kid, tried to remarry the guy, and then faked her death to get away with him and is now living her happy dream life with her little girl and her ‘perfect’ husband.

What happened to the dark, morally questionable, grungy Liz? What happened to the Liz who was jaded and afraid after being on the run for several weeks, or months?

She just settled down with a guy who she used to hate and she’s living the dream.

What in the literal fuck?

And, for all the time that has been invested in Liz, she has made little to no progress in her characterization these past few seasons. In fact, she’s done more of a 360. She’s right back where she started, more or less.

Why should the audience give a shit about her journey if she’s not making any progress? Why should we care that, halfway through this show, she has everything she’s ever wanted?

The side characters, like Aram, Samar, Ressler, Cooper and others are there just to serve the plot. Any time there’s a semblance of some character development or plot progression, the showrunners regress everyone back to Stage One so we can do it all over again. Aram and Samar look like they’re making progress in their possible romantic relationship? Fuck that, we’ve got to make sure Aram runs back to his abusive girlfriend and string this thing along another season! Remember when Ressler got shot, had prescription drug problems, and was in Narcotics Anonymous? Yeah, me neither.

Mr. Kaplan, who was best when she was on-screen to sass and help Reddington once every few episodes, gets pushed into the spotlight for some made-up bullshit reason that had never been discussed or hinted at previous to the “Mr. Kaplan used to work for Katarina Rostova” storyline. And while Susan Bloomaert is a fantastic and underrated actress and did her absolute best to make those scenes between her and Liz feel emotional, I didn’t really care about their dynamic at all because it felt so forced, underdeveloped, and out-of-nowhere.

Whereas the relationship that I care the MOST about – that between Red and Liz – that has been the most built-up and developed over the course of the show keeps getting thrown under the bus as Liz does the whole “love Red, hate Red, forgive Red” song-and-dance routine. She claims she agrees with Red when he tells her not to go back to Tom in Season 2… only to go back to Tom later in Season 2. She’s totally down with asking Red to help her whenever she’s a criminal on the run… but the minute her wedding gets shot up, she yells at him and says it’s his fault.

And now, as far as the Lizzington fans go, which I count myself as one of them, the show has written itself into a corner. Because all the amazing chemistry and romantic tropes throughout the show feel incredibly creepy now that Liz believes Red is her dad, regardless of whether he actually is or not. I don’t care how they try to pull themselves out of the ginormous hole they’ve dug for themselves on that one – why the hell would a woman ever end up with a guy that she once thought was her dad, even if it turned out he actually wasn’t?

And the only real way out of it is the Impostor Theory – a well-written and well-researched theory, but one that makes people have to do fucking mental gymnastics for it to work. You have to assume a lot of people like Naomi and Reddington’s former roommate from the Naval Academy who’s now an admiral, are in on it. Whereas dudes like Finch or the Director aren’t…

Don’t get me wrong; I think it’s a wonderful theory and it explains a lot. But, if it ends up being true, it means one of two things:

1) The writers didn’t plan this from the beginning and lucked their way into it

2) The writers DID plan this from the beginning, which means they have the ability to be really good writers, but then they fell into all this other bullshit – like Liz’s weird arc and other things – which really means that they’re not that good of writers; they just had the one good idea.

And if the Impostor Theory DOESN’T end up being true, in some form or fashion, that means that Red really IS Liz’s dad, and this whole fucking show – Red’s entire characterization, his relationship and dynamic with her – has been a lie. Canon can be throw out the window to rot in the sewer and fuck itself in the interim, because the writers don’t even care any more.

Which, I realize is unfair, because I know there are hundreds of people who work really hard to make this show happen, and while it’s not, like, the worst show of all time, the fact that it had such potential and has fallen so far, almost makes it seem worse than a show that was so bad from the beginning I never invested time in it.

And what makes it even WORSE is that the showrunners continue to act like this is the most groundbreaking show on television, and put it on a pedestal On High, along with the likes of Game of Thrones, The Americans, and The Sopranos… you know, actually good shows.

That would be the equivalent of the Taken director demanding that his movie should’ve gotten an Oscar. It’s like, you know it was a fine movie, and I had a good time watching it, but like, bring yourself back down to earth. Taken is okay, but it is NOT Oscar-worthy material, so get off your high horse, dude.

I guess, if nothing else, it shows that the showrunners, writers and actors are so talented that they got me to invest in the show to the point where I can’t not watch it, even though it’s fallen so far and I feel like it’s nowhere near as good as it used to be. They hooked me and got me to care about these characters and their dynamics so much that, even though it frustrates me week in and week out, I will still keep watching it.

It’s just that, now, I might be doing it with a bottle of vodka, taking shots every time:

  • Red has a monologue that proves James Spader is too damn good for this show;
  • Liz is bitchy to Red for little to no reason, while continuing to be lovey-dovey with Tom;
  • Ressler survives a fight or car accident or some other action sequence with no injuries whatsoever;
  • Harry Lennix is completely underused as Harold Cooper in an episode, because he only tells his employees to do the obvious… and literally nothing else;
  • Samar and/or Aram take a step back from getting together, despite hints that they’ve liked each other since Season 2.

So, bottoms up, Blacklist fans!

autistic laura kinney :O (spoilers ahead!)

i just saw logan and a lot of the things she did really resonated with me, an autistic person, and the variation between her behaviors and her friends seemed to indicate that these were more than just a product of her trauma

  • she’s nonverbal for a good part of the movie. she can verbally communicate her negative feelings like fear, anger, and discomfort by hissing and growling and shouting
    • even when she is verbal, her sentences are kind of fragmented and she doesn’t speak often. this could be considered being semi-verbal
  • the scene at the farm with charles and logan was really important to me, charles acknowledging that even though she isn’t talking, she is communicating, if you are willing to listen. and you don’t have to talk down to a nonverbal person, you can treat them like any other person
  • she does stim a lot
    • her ball is a stim toy, she’s very distressed when she doesn’t have it and in the second scene she’s in, we see her bouncing it over and over again
    • also, the gas station horse ride, logan says “okay, but this is your last ride” implying she rode it repeatedly. also, when it stops and she can’t get it to start again, she gets really panicked and upset
    • and maybe petting the horses could count, because i know petting soft things is a calming stim for me
    • she has some self destructive behaviors that could be considered a stim, i.e. in the video where she cut her arm and watched it heal repeatedly
  • speaking of horses, they could definitely be considered a special interest
    • she loves the horse ride, she gets horse figure and sleeps holding onto it, she fixates on the horse t shirt until charles and logan buy it for her, she fixates on the horses on the highway
  • this isn’t really evidence, but the farm scene where charles said he ran a school for kids with special needs also made me happy esp. considering that being a mutant can be considered an allegory for being neurodivergent (among other things mutations could be an allegory for)
  • she’s a messy eater. she holds her utensils weird and prefers to just eat with her hands until logan tells her to stop
  • she also echoes a line from the movie “shane” which she saw earlier in the movie, at the end as a way to communicate how she was feeling. it probably wasn’t technically a “contextually appropriate” quote, but she used it to convey something she couldn’t put into her own words

that’s all i can think of rn because i’ve only seen logan once but i was really excited and needed to make this post!!

“lady and the tramp spaghetti scene,, SPAGETTTI” - @bunchofwildflowers

“Hey Ben! Pass one over here.” Richie yells, gesturing to the bag of sour-sugar coated gummy noodles Ben has sitting on his lap. Ben pinches the bag closed and tosses it over. Eddie rolls his eyes.

“What’s so appetizing about a floppy worm-noodle? Seriously, do you know how many health problems those could cause?”

Eddie watches disgustedly as Richie sucks one into his mouth, “Erectile Dysfunction?” He asks, cracking a grin.

Eddie rolls his eyes again. “C'mon, Eds. You promised all of us you were gonna do your best to stop with the whole health thing.” Richie dangles a gummy worm in front of Eddie’s eyes.

Eddie takes the candy from him, sighing and gingerly biting down. His taste buds go through a series of emotions before he puts the whole thing in his mouth.

“Well?” Beverly asks, leaning into the conversation.

“It’s fine.” Richie hands him another. Beverly laughs.

“Yeah cause you aren’t enjoying them at all.” She smirks, turning back to face Stan.

“You know,” Richie elbows Eddie’s side. Eddie yelps. “There’s nothing wrong in admitting you like candy. Especially the dangly sweet stuff.” He winks obnoxiously.

Eddie groans and reaches into the bag. Richie laughs.

Eddie doesn’t know how it happens. One moment he’s having a rivoting conversation with Bill, chowing down on gummy worms - stressing about how intensely he’s going to have to brush his teeth later - and the next, his lips are on Richie’s. They taste like sour sugar.

It isn’t much, just the corner’s of their mouths connected by an artificially colored sweet. Until Eddie turns to face Richie in confusion.

Beverly is laughing and Stan’s eyes are wide open. Eddie can feel his face heating up as Richie bites down on the gummy worm and pulls away.

Eddie frowns, he clutches the fabric of his pantleg. The sugar from his fingers rubbing off.

Richie narrows his eyes at a cackling Mike, “Hey! How were we supposed to know we were eating the same worm. Fuck you guys.”

Eddie sighs as Richie drags him away from the group, Bill whistling behind them. Ben shushes him.

After they’re safely behind an oak tree Eddie lets out the breath he didn’t know he’d been holding.

“I’m sorry.” Richie blurts.

“This is what I get for eating bug shaped type two diabetes.”

“Are worms bugs?” Richie asks. Eddie laughs.

Eddie watches as Richie kicks up clouds of dirt, “You know… I didn’t hate it.”

“Yeah?” Richie smiles, Eddie stares at the glint in his glasses. “Me neither.”

anonymous asked:

Do you have any tips for studying a large amount in a short period of time? Because I have been learning chinese for 2 1/2 years, but i really haven't gotten far and this August 29 (50 days!!) I'm leaving for a 10 month exchange to ZhengZhou!

i’m gonna start out by saying there’s really no fun way to cram a bunch of knowledge into your brain in a short amount of time (i know this really well bc i was a shit student in high school and i still a shit student now, even though i have improved slightly)

but here are my suggestions:

  1. make some kind of schedule. if you do this you don’t need to have a super regimented study plan but just have an idea of what you need to study and make a basic timeline. you leave in 50 days, so that’s about 7 weeks. while you don’t necessarily need to know what you’re going to study every single day, maybe have a general idea about what you want to cover each week so that you can have a general idea of what your goal is
  2. if scheduling isn’t your thing (cuz it sure as hell isn’t mine), form a list of what you want to accomplish in these 50 days. gather up the resources you’re gonna use (i’ll put some suggestions for that below) and figure out what you want to accomplish with them. this list can be as general or specific as you think it needs to be.
  3. whether you make a schedule or a list is really up to you and how you prefer to study and stay motivated, but it’s important to remember to take a few days off (at least once a week). 50 days of straight studying is not an easy thing and if you don’t rest in between you’ll eventually burn out. so yeah, take some days off. but if you still want to get some mandarin practice in, listen to music in the background. here’s some links to music master posts, as well as my mandarin music tag (my personal suggestions for music are, naturally, 苏运莹, 张震岳 (AKA A-Yue,Waa Wei, Hello Nico, Haya 乐团, Frandé/法蘭黛, and 宇宙人). also take a look at the blogs @chinese-lyrics and @fyeahcindie. they have a bunch of great music that you can look through

so now that you know what you’re gonna be doing, here are some suggestions for how to drill vocab and grammar:

  1. the first is memrise. there are a bunch of memrise courses for mandarin that cover useful vocab from every level of the HSK among other things. since it uses spaced repetition it’s a great resource to help beat vocab into your brain. it is, however, not the best for grammar (imo)
  2. if you need to, take sticky notes and label everything in your house. and make it really visible. when i did this, i didn’t write the pinyin on the sticky notes, just the tone marks but if you feel that you need to write the pinyin, then go ahead and do it. when you do this, you are forced to see the vocab every day and will learn it after having seen it so many times
  3. it is my opinion that the best way to learn vocab (and their corresponding characters) is to write. when i study mandarin i always try to write out my vocab lists and then use this method to practice the characters. depending on how long your vocab list is, this can be an incredibly time consuming method (i’ve had lists that have taken me an hour and a half to finish drilling using this method) but it really pays off
  4. for grammar i’d use websites like this one or this one bc they give examples of the grammar in use. also, the first one (allset learning) has their grammar organized up to B2 (HSK 4) so it’s easy to find grammar by HSK levels. the second one is also organized by level, but they don’t have as many articles yet. if you want to practice by making your own sentences but are afraid of messing up, just hop on over to HiNative. you can ask native speakers of mandarin if something you wrote in mandarin sounds natural or correct, as well as ask for help with translating difficult words or sentences and more.

more than anything, i recommend you find some resources created by native speakers to help you learn

  1. slow chinese 慢速中文 is a podcast series written by native speakers for people learning mandarin. they are a few minutes long each and are spoken at a slightly slower speed than normal, and they cover a variety of topics including chinese culture and food. you can download the podcasts on iTunes, but you can also find them online along with the transcripts. it’s an amazing resource
  2. 快乐汉语 (this playlist only goes to episode 75): this is a video series created by CCTV for mandarin learners. it’s basically about an american girl who runs away from home to stay with her family friends in beijing. the acting is super cheesy and the plots are downright weird at times, but it’s an excellent resource because the videos are subbed in both mandarin and english. since susan (the main character) is american, there are a bunch of episodes where the family explains chinese culture to her so it’s pretty cool. warning: a lot of the characters have thick beijing accents, so just watch out for that. they also have a couple of short breaks in each episode to explain certain grammar or vocab that was used in the episode

what i’d do with these and any other native resources you find (song lyrics, blog posts, books, etc.) is break them down sentence by sentence and study the vocab and grammar. once you get that vocab, drill it like you do with all of the other vocab. what my teacher would have us do with 快乐汉语 was listen once nonstop, then go scene by scene and write down what the characters were saying using what we could hear and the chinese subtitles. we’d then go over the scene and find any vocab and grammar patterns that were new to us and make notes on them. once we’d finish with that, we’d listen to the scene once more.

after we’d done that for every scene, we’d watch the whole video again and again to get the hang not only of the new vocab but also of the way the characters said each sentence. when learning a new language, a lot of what makes someone sound unnatural is not only accent, but also rhythm. so my teacher would have us listen to the video over and over and then make us perform certain scenes. she did this so we could practice listening not only for pronunciation but also for the rhythm of each sentence. so i highly recommend you try this (sans the performing). you can just pick a scene or two and listen a bunch and eventually try to repeat after each character until you feel you’ve got the rhythm down.

so that’s really all i can say for now. cramming requires a lot of work so what you’ve got to do is find a way to apply the methods that work best for you and keep plugging away at them until the very end. i hope this helps you in some way, and i hope you enjoy your time in china! 加油!!!

Okay, so I enjoyed writing this way more than I should have. The kissing scene got a little out of control but what can I say, sometimes the characters take over and there’s nothing I can do. Either way, this prompt from thegirlwiththeimpala inspired the following one-shot.

Prompt: I would like to request a oneshot where Steve and the reader are really close friends and are always flirting a little bit. One day she teases him and he warns her that she’ll cross his line and it leads to them kissing.  ❤

“Something More”

“On your left!” You laughed as you surpassed Steve for the second time.
“Not for long.” He huffed as he began to speed up. He was used to being teased like this as was so often the case when you were together and as he ran, he remembered how similar a day it was when you first met. He had been jogging early in the morning having expected nobody else to be awake and outside. Alone with his thoughts, he had been running distractedly until he felt himself collide with another person. You had been jogging with headphones in and were exercising so furiously that you hadn’t noticed Steve coming towards you. Of all the people to run into, it had to have been Captain America.
Ever since that day, Steve had come out early on a Sunday morning in the hope of meeting you again – you, who had initially called him a ‘stone-skulled ass hat’ before realising who you were talking to. Something about the way you didn’t care who he was intrigued Steve and eventually, after ‘running into him’ a few more times, you became great friends. Upon hearing the many tales of the person who could put Steve in his place, you were invited to Stark Tower where you hit it off with all the other Avengers too.

You waited by the park fountain, leaning over and panting. It had taken all of your effort to overtake Steve. You were definitely not faster than him but you had the advantage of knowing the shortcuts along your jogging route so that you could fool him into thinking you were. Not wanting him to realise that you had the biggest crush on him, you constantly teased and annoyed him. For the most part, he was a good sport about it, presuming it to be playful banter but even you could see when it was too much. Today, thankfully, was not one of those times.

I’m so glad Matthew Lillard is in the new Twin Peaks. I’m not somebody who even has favourite actors, but like. Ugh. Matthew Lillard, man. He’s great.

He has one of those rubber faces that’s practically genetically engineered for comedy acting, and so I absolutely adore seeing him in horror films. There’s just something so incredibly sincere and captivating about his inability to pull off a subtle facial expression in those scenarios.

I sincerely and wholeheartedly think that my entire sense of humor was based off of that scene in Scream where he’s bleeding out on the phone and he’s like, “Did you really call the police? My mom and dad are gonna’ be so mad at me.”

Like, all I did as a kid was watch Thirteen Ghosts over and over again because I simply could not get over watching him try and convince Adrian Monk and Rah Digga not to fuck with a giant glass house full of ghost portal devil magic.

May's LMD Makes the Ultimate Sacrifice - Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. 4x15
May's LMD realizes her programming is much more similar to the original May, and therefore is able to take down Coulson's LMD to save Simmons and Daisy. (Fro...

I am so utterly obsessed with this scene - You can see so clearly how much LMD May is suffering, having to choose between Daisy and Jemma (girls she trained herself, who have proven themselves over and over again, who have been through too much grief already) and this man who looks so much like someone she’s loved for so long - how could anyone make a choice like that?

The way her voice cracks a little when she tells Coulson that they have never had a drink together (such a painful thought - that all of those memories you’ve treasured for so long belong to someone else; that you’re just an imposter, an intruder living in someone else’s mind, believing it to be your own) just kills me every damn time. The way she already has her thumb over the trigger switch - struggling through her grief, but knowing what she has to do.

Then oh my - the soundtrack is so important here - when the cargo doors open, and the music builds to emphasise the pain and desperation of the scene - Daisy and Jemma stumbling along, Piper and the other crew members racing to help and get the Quinjet out of there before everything goes to hell.

And dear god - when the soundtrack is put behind the remainder of LMD May and Coulson’s conversation? My heart starts tearing itself into tiny little shreds.

“Are you afraid to die? Because I am.”

She is so openly afraid of what’s about to follow, but so determined and resound in the knowledge of what she has to do.

“But that pain, that regret, that’s what made you a person. I person I love”

woop there it is - the moment I would usually be fangirling my heart out… if I wasn’t so busy crying my eyes out instead.

“My impulse to keep Coulson safe and close, that desire? That came from me.”

I love this acknowledgement that May’s protectiveness and love for Coulson goes so deep, that even her robot had the same need to keep him safe. It makes me so damn emotional. Like?? Why can’t they just be happy together??

“And I’m sorry to say, you’re not him.”

Radcliffe’s whole “you are who you are speech” makes more sense to me now - like yeah, this is who May is. The woman who will do anything, wear any personal burden, blow herself up, to ensure that those she loves are safe. Finally, May (or the LMD version at least), gets her second chance to save the girl - to let the girls go - and sacrifice herself to keep them safe.

New Cursed Child cast mini review- spoilers

I saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child a couple of days ago and I am absolutely loving this new cast! I am so eager to see them again.
I’m not very good at describing out details and sorry if I’m not very coherent through this XD I love reading these reviews so I thought I’d have a go.

I have seen the original cast twice before. In those times, I have seen two Scorpius portrayals (Anthony and Mx James) and two moaning myrtle portrayals (Annabel and Chipo). The new cast has a new and fresh take on this story.

Smauel Blenkin: Scoripus Malfoy  -   James Howard: Draco Malfoy
Theo Ancient: Albus Potter -     Jamie Glover: Harry Potter
Emma Lowndes: Ginny Potter
-     Rakie Ayola: Hermione Granger-Weasley Thomas Aldridge: Ron Weasley -      Helen Aluko: Rose Granger-Weasley David Annen: Severus Snape-      Elizabeth Hill: Umbridge
April Hughes: Moaning Myrtle-    Annabel Baldwin: Delphi

Samuel, like everyone says, is a fantastic Scorpius.

He did the most massive leap in the air I have ever seen while yelling “YESSSSSS” when they figured out how to contact their parents. So good XD
His use of his hands is hilariously perfect and it was such a wonder watching him perform.
The staircase scene was so heartbreaking. He was constantly trying to wave at Albus, but getting no response. Him also breaking down about trying to see if his mother was still alive almost broke me. He was fantastic in that scene and very real.
Close to the end, when Scorpius and Albus are on the staircase, it was both hilarious and heartwarming. Samuel does a little dance and pops his leg out when he’s talking about Polly Chapman. He almost fell on top of Albus when Rose popped up. For both Scorbus and Scorrose shippers, it is an excellent scene to watch.
Scorpius is probably my favourite character of the show and I’m so happy with what Samuel is doing with the character. He is different to what Anthony and Mx James did with the character. I don’t like comparing, but he is closer to Anthony’s portrayal than Mx James’s (Who i thought was phenomenal). Samuel makes the role completely his own. Different yet the same Scorpius we all know and love. You believe that Samuel’s Scorpius is only 14 years old as he is hilarious childish, geeky and excitable. Very physical. Uses a lot of body language and his hands a lot, but in the right moments.

James Howard is fantastic as Draco. He captures what Draco was in the books, and what I believe Draco would be like as a forty-year-old mourning parent. The relationship between Scorpius and Draco is so well captured and everyone clapped when they hugged each other after Draco’s line “we can hug too if you like” in Godric’s Hollow. They were also holding each other so tightly during the Lily and James death scene. Scorpius wrapped his arms right around him and put his head into Draco’s chest. Beautiful. (And Harry falling to the ground, bringing Ginny and Albus with his is too just heartbreaking. )

Draco did the greatest smirk I have ever seen after Ron said reluctantly, ‘I really like your hair Draco”. He looked so chuffed XD
His fabulous farmers market line also got a huge laugh.

When I was about 11 or 12 years old, I was a massive dramione shipper. I’m not really on that ship anymore, but the way Draco said: “I’m being bossed around by Hermione Granger… and I’m mildly enjoying it.”… I could feel my younger self jumping with joy XDDD He said it in such a suave way.

I really like Theo’s portrayal of Albus. He plays Albus in a much younger and innocent way, which I think is good cause sometimes I forget these characters are meant to be only 14 years old. When Scorpius woke him up in Part 2, he hit him with his pillow in a childish and brilliant manner. As he plays it so innocently, it’s so believable for him to feel so stupid after traveling back in time. And how crushed and humiliated he feels when it turns out that Delphi turned out to be bad. So sad hearing him say to his mum, “I really liked her, Mum. I really did”.

I love this new Hermione. She’s just brilliant. She’s a much more bubbly Hermione, which makes her even more horrifying in the alternative timeline. Very different to Noma, but a good different. Hermione in the Voldemort AU was everything. When I had seen it before, when Hermione is told she’s minister for magic, Noma does a funny little giggle- which I love! What Rakie did when she was told was so sassy. She was pointing her wand at Snape and said: “I’m minister for magic!” Not in a threatening way, just in an amazingly sassy way.

When I had seen the show before, in the polyjuice potion scene, Ron (Albus) only kissed Hermione once. However this time, Ron (Albus) kissed Hermione a whole bunch of times and tried to hug her a lot more! Thomas was so hilarious in that scene.
The way Jamie played Harry in that scene was also so funny. Just looking so awkward and walking off stage, his face in total “oh my god what did I just witness I don’t know what to do with myself” mode. Scarred for life he looked like XD My friend and I were laughing so much.

Thomas’s Ron is perfect for me. His comedic timing was on point and got big laughs all around. Thomas and Rakie’s chemistry is so sweet - it made it more painful to see them not together in the AU.
In the Voldemort timeline, when Hermione says “Ron, I love you and I always have’, you could hear the crack and heartache in her voice. She did a half laugh and half cry when she was talking to Ron about them having a son and a daughter. Perfect. So many tears.

Rose is the most adorable child. The scene when her and Hermione hug was so heartbreaking I was nearly in tears.

THIS SNAPE! David Annen! He is very much like Alan Rickman’s portrayal of Snape. He was calm, had brilliant comedic timing with his words. When Scorpius tells him how he dies, he replies, “How…very…………irritating”. It got a big laugh. I’m glad that Snape and Hermione aren’t as ‘touchy’ in this one, they stay quite far apart. Noma’s Hermione got a little too close to Snape’s face and touching for my liking - but that’s just me XD

Umbridge was great. When she entered on stage at the beginning of Part 2, she did a kind of sassy strut. Holding her cape up and doing a fabulously evil and sly walk XD love it.

Ginny is so strong and fierce. For someone reason in my mind, I thought the new Ginny was going to be really quiet. BOY WAS I WRONG and I’m so happy to be wrong! Emma was spectacular, truly what book Ginny is all about.
I AM SO GLAD THAT HARRY AND GINNY KISSED TWICE IN THE BLANKET SCENE. I am such a Hinny shipper and that just made my heart glow. XD

APRIL AS MYRTLE….. my gosh, it was phenomenal. Her voice is very close to the film version of moaning myrtle. She used a lot more body language than I’ve seen done before. While Harry was looking another way, she would (for a long time) be trying to stroke his back with her foot. Hilarious XD also getting a cold look from Ginny. She stepped in front of Harry to make her stop.

Annabels Delphi is spectacular. I was completely under her spell. I almost forgot who she truly was, so when she finally turns on Scorpius and Albus it is utterly terrifying and sad. (Scorpius was awkwardly patting Delphi on the back when she was hiding from a student on the staircase)

Plus, it was quite weird seeing Annabel as myrtle first and now seeing her as Delphi. However, she’s such a brilliant actress I forgot she used to be myrtle.

The dementor flew right past my face and it was amazing. I went with a friend who had not read the play or heard any spoilers, and she was completely terrified. We were sat at the front of the dress circle. That scene always gives me the chills.

I love the little details of the students acting in the background. Even though they are not at centre attention, they still do little things in the background. Little things like touching Rose’s shoulder in comfort while they were listening in on the staircase. Every single person on that stage has so much talent. The dancing always leaves me in awe and i wish i could watch it back over and over again.

I am bursting to see this cast again and I’m so glad i got to see them in their first week. Now i have about a year to be able to see them again. With the original cast, the first i saw of them was in May - a week before they were leaving so i had limited time to see them again. i stupidly forgot to buy a programme of this cast. Guess it gives me an excuse to go again quite soon XD

I love this play so much.

Disclaimer: Before you write this theory off as crazy, like I myself did two years ago, please have an open mind and consider all of the following evidence before forming your opinion. And although I am a Lizzington shipper, this post is not overly or strictly Lizzington in it’s design or belief and does not intend to use this theory just to promote my ship.

Also, if you still believe the ‘reveal’ at the end of 4.22 proving Red is Lizzie’s father (which used a 30 year old sample of blood from a yet to be proven Raymond Reddington) is the truth, I suggest you stop reading now.

One final note, it is long, and contains spoilers. Please be advised it will only open without crashing on a tablet or computer. Thank you.

I’m not even sorry about the rambling because it’s going to cease to exist soon so I’ll just have get it all out of my system:

- No, this is not my favourite season because of the glorious Hiccstrid development (but yeah it’s a big part of it) but I also love it because of all the character development we got, both individually and as a group. Honestly, I had my doubts about this season after watching the first few episodes (because it was really similar to what we had seen before.) But as the episodes went on; i could start to feel all the developments and I after finishing the season, it felt more complete than before. There were so many scenes between different characters and just not the same over and over again.

- Hiccup is not creepy for trying to kiss Astrid (geeez). If you rewatch the scene, there’s obviously a lot of tension and I think that if Astrid didn’t want to be kissed; she would have thrown a punch, literally. Probably before it even happened. Also, she knew what was going on, she even asks why he didn’t do it so she was in the clear. Hiccup was just in the moment… I doubt in that moment that he even thought of Astrid as blind. He had just told her that she was strong and invincible. Meaning; Hiccup didn’t see her blindness as an issue. He just saw her

- Speaking of Hiccstrid. I love that we got so many on screen kisses, not because it’s adorable but I love that the writers think of them as a real couple. Otherwise, they would have one big epic kiss (animation style) and then nothing more. But they’re behaving as a real couple, sneaking kisses, holding hands, talking to each other about their problems. It’s so healthy and I love them as a couple; not just romantically, but as best friends and battle partners too.

Height Problems

Pairing: Theo x Reader

Summary: hii i was wondering if you could do a theo imagine where the readers like reaaally short (4'10) and how he would act and stuff HAHA thank you!!

Side Note: This is short because I had no idea what to write for it, so sorry about that.

Being short consisted of many jabs from other people, you always had to ask someone else to reach things on a higher self. But even when others were poking fun of how short you were Theo, your boyfriend of 6 months loved your height.

He loved when he could easily lift you up, he loved when he saw you struggling to reach the candy on the top shelf and he would wait a few seconds until you begged him to reach them for you. He just loved how your body fit so perfectly in his when you two were sleeping or just cuddling.

Tonight was a regular spring cleaning night, the last place to clean was the kitchen which you had been dreading. Looking above you the only thing left to clean were the top cabinets, usually this is were you would call Theo to come and assist you. However considering he wasn’t here right now you opted to reach them yourself.

Grabbing a chair you carefully balanced yourself and removed everything from the cabinets, setting them careful down you grabbed a wet cloth and started wiping down. About 5 minutes into finding a perfect rhythm to clean Theo came in.

“Hey what do you think your doing?” he asked.

“Cleaning, what does it look like” you replied, while focusing your attention on the shelf above you.

In the next few seconds you felt Theo’s arms wrap around you, lifting you off the chair. “Hey!”

“Don’t hey me, what if you fell off the chair or slipped? Y/N next time you want to reach things that are too high up, call me” he said.

“Are you making fun on my height Theo Raeken?”.

He smiled and wrapped his arms protectively around you, kissing your forehead he said. “I love your height Y/N, we fit so perfectly together. However when I see you climbing on things it freaks me out that you might fall”.

Sighing into his chest you mumbled an “okay” and untangled yourself from him, so you could put all the plates, glasses and bowls in their rightful place.

Reaching up as much as you could, you unfortunately couldn’t manage to reach high enough to put the plate back where it belong.

You heard a slight chuckle come from behind you, “Do you want me to help you there love?” Theo asked.

“Nope I can manage on my own” you responded stubbornly.

All Theo did was lean back against the counter watching the scene unfold in front of him. After several more attempts of reaching and stretching you gave up and innocently turned back to Theo.

“Could you please help me reach the shelf?” you quietly asked him.

Coming over his height towered over you while he placed all the things back into the cabinet. Pulling you close to him once again he simply just smiled at you, “I love it when you need me to do things like that”.

“Really? Cause I hate my height”.

Theo lifted your chin, “Hey don’t ever say that. One of my favourite things about you is the way you always come to me to ask to reach stuff for you, or when we hug I can easily rest my chin on your head. I love the fact that you need me”.

Breaking out into a smile it was refreshing to hear someone say that you height wasn’t a negative thing.

"Now come on, let’s go relax”.

He took your head and the both of you sat down on the couch, curled up beside him with a blanket over the two of you. Just knowing that the one thing you didn’t like about yourself, was one of Theo’s favourite quality was enough to make you feel better.

Season 4, Episode 9 - The Traitor

Holy moly what an episode! I bet I missed quite the wildfire on here last night.

Should I start with the good or the bad?

I’ll start with the bad:

Hey, Eph. Instead of wasting time arguing with Zach how about you go bleach that bloodstain? Or better yet, instead of everyone leaving how about you all wait there for the Master? Because honestly, heading for the Empire State Building after you KNOW Zach just sent out a blood message seems kind of silly.

Zach remains a little shit. Water is wet. Though, to be fair, they need to do that. The writers, I mean. If the end game is Zach dying then they need the audience to hate him. But still. Little shit.

Oh look. They killed more women. I’m shocked. SHOCKED, I tell you. *casts a protection circle around Dutch*

One more episode? ONE MORE EPISODE? Maybe I lack imagination but I still fail to see how this is going to wrap up in one more episode. Unless it’s a two hour finale?

Honestly slightly disappointed in that goodbye between Fet and Quinlan. Not that I expected them to make out or anything but I feel like after all they went through that Quinlan deserved at least slightly more than a one off line.

The good:

Quinlan. Quinlan. Quinlan. If I were back in high school I’d be writing his name with bloody hearts all around it.

Seeing him fight and strut just does things to me. Very wrong, very naughty things that I absolutely know is not the intention but I don’t care. I could just watch his scenes in this episode over and over again. The way he dragged Sanjay away, even the way he threatened Sanjay’s wife. I was all like “I volunteer as tribute!”. But my tastes in the bedroom do run a bit on the strange side.

Speaking of bedrooms, I guess it’s canon now. Quinlan has no junk in the trunk and if you think that will stop me from sexualizing him, think again. Let this serve as a reminder though. A man does not need a penis to be a man. And a man does not need a penis to please a woman. A lack of a penis is not a disability.

I’m gonna say it louder for the fic writers in the back:

A man does not need a penis to be a man. And a man does not need a penis to please a woman. A lack of a penis is not a disability.

Also my love for Dutch continues. I love seeing her kick so much ass. I really hope she survives.

So I’m guessing this means Quinlan will meet back up with the others for the grand fight? Oh God, and his  “It’s not a factor. I don’t plan to survive.” KILLED me. I know he has to die but I don’t have to be happy about it.

Oh, also, the elevator scene had me laughing a little bit. Not in a bad way but just for some reason vampires riding in elevators to their doom kind of cracks me up. (See New Moon and Blade, I think too?)

Also, also, I love that Jennifer Lynch directed this episode.

So anyway, what did you guys think?
