i can't really explain it and there are probably people who feel differently but oh well

Harry's interview on Quotidien
  • I: Can you hear me?
  • H: Yes
  • I: Welcome to Paris!
  • H: Thank you
  • I: How are you? Can you answer in French?
  • H: Good! A little bit. A tiny bit. Très bien et toi ?(very good and you?)
  • I: Very good, thank you. We start our interviews with “can you give us your five favourites words in English or French. Or a French sentence”. Someone told me you knew a French sentence.
  • H: Comment vous faites un café si délicieux? (How do you make such a delicious coffee?)
  • I: OK, that’s good.
  • H: That’s all I have.
  • I: Do you say it very often?
  • H: No... Yes
  • I: What does France mean to you? Is it something, someone etc...?
  • H: Best people I’ve known... I think her, *shows a fan* I guess. Fabien Barthez.
  • I: Yes, Fabien Barthez. Harry, you’re 23 years old and you’re one of the best known pop-star in the world. Everybody has expectations with your new album and single Sign Of The Times. Why did you choose that song? This is not what people were expecting.
  • H: I think I wanted to.. I've always liked music that made me feel something. You know I think writing it I could feet something I wanted to bring it out. I think it's a good indicator for me of what the album is to me. That's why I wanted to go with that first.
  • I: Billboard wrote that the single was "one of the more ambitious opening statements in pop this decade". Not bad, isn't it?
  • H: Thanks!
  • I: Do you have friends working at Billboard?
  • H: I don't know anyone at Billboard.
  • I: When we listen to the song we think of David Bowie, Queen, who else did you think of?
  • H: I mean, I think everyone, anything, any song you've ever listened to growing up or throughout your life or you've enjoyed, inspired you. There are a lot of different things. I wanted to just write and see what came out. I didn't know what I sounded like to make an album. So this process was as interesting for me as I think it will be for people listening to the album for the first time.
  • I: Do you know French singers other than Serge Gainsbourg? That's a tricky question.
  • H: I know Woodkid. He directed my music video.
  • I: Why him?
  • H: I think his videos are amazing, he's a really talented guy and I love French people so I worked with him.
  • I: When you're in Spain, do you say that you love Spanish people?
  • H: No!
  • I: It seems like everything has been easy...
  • H: Great tie.
  • I: You think so? It's French.
  • H: It's not a Spanish tie, isn't it?
  • I: Can I see your loafer? Oh yes! What is the brand? That's not French, isn't it? It's Italian.
  • H: No.
  • I: That's from the European Union!
  • H: Probably yeah.
  • I: It seems like everything has been easy for you, is it true?
  • H: Was what simple?
  • I: Your life, everybody wants a life like yours, with One Direction...
  • H: I mean, I feel very lucky to be able to make music, I feel very lucky to be able to make this, I feel very lucky today being in France and performing my song. I love this song. I can't complain.
  • I: What were the unpleasant things?
  • H: *thinking*
  • I: I don't know, say only one thing.
  • H: I think when you care so much about something, it's hard to get to the point where you feel like it's finished and it feels like you're adding and it never ends and it adds up. So I think the hardest part was getting into that point and be like "ok that's finished."
  • I: You said to the Rolling Stone magazine that most of the album was inspired by a woman. Really?
  • H: No I think, honestly, the album is much more about me than it is about anyone else. I think if I said the album is about a woman it kind of feels like, I don't know, I put a lot of work into this. I don't feel like it revolves around woman. It's a lot about me and things I've never said before. It's more about me.
  • I: How did you start with a boy band and end with a solo career? Is it complicated?
  • H: It's been a lot of fun. You know we were very lucky to get to do some amazing things and at the moment in our lives, we're in a time where everyone is trying their own thing and have a good time. It's been amazing to see everyone doing their own thing as well. If I can do as well as the others, it'd be amazing.
  • I: Do you call them everyday or text them? Do you use What's app?
  • H: I don't have that.
  • I: Why?
  • H: Yes we talk, absolutely. And everyone is bringing stuff out. It's been a lot going on. It's been a good time.
  • I: This is the album cover! Can you describe it? Why did you choose this picture?
  • H: Yeah. So, I don't know. I worked with photographer Harley Weir, I'm a massive fan of her work. And that's amazing and I was lucky enough to work with her. I felt like this was what I wanted.
  • I: Why is it pink? Why the water? Why your back? Why? It's beautiful but why is it pink?
  • H: I don't know, man!
  • I: Really? You don't know?
  • H: I don't know. I don't think I want...
  • I: Apparently pink is Rock'n'roll's colour.
  • H: Apparently so. I don't know. I think it means something to me and if it means anything to anyone else, I wouldn't want to take away from that by explaining it. I think the cool thing about stuff like photos and art is you can just leave it. You don't have to explain it.
  • I: Everybody sees what they want to see.
  • H: Yes exactly.
  • I: Have you seen this?
  • *video of people reacting to Harry's single*
  • I: Your fans record themselves while listening to the song for the first time. You can hear relevant analysis and apparently they all really liked it. Do you read what people say about you on social media? On Youtube, Twitter, Instagram? Do you use Instagram?
  • H: Yes I use it a little bit.
  • *The public disagrees with Harry*
  • H: Yes I use it a little bit. I mean I wish everyone was having as good time as the girl who was like that with her hands. That's what I do when I listen to the song.
  • I: Are you the one using your Instagram? Do you use your own fingers or someone else does it for you?
  • H: Yes, I do mine.
  • I: Do you still vote in Redditch?
  • H: In?
  • I: Redditch!
  • H: That's where I was born?
  • I: Yes.
  • H: I don't live in Redditch.
  • I: So you don't vote there. Where did you vote?
  • H: London, yeah.
  • I: What do you think of the Brexit? Welcome to Europe!
  • H: Thank you very much, thanks. I mean, I don't really comment on politics. To me, anything that brings people together is better than things that pull people apart. That's ... yeah.
  • I: Yet, you are in favour of equality of rights, men, women, gay people, straight people... That's politics.
  • H: I don't know. It doesn't feel like politics. I think stuff like equality feels much more fundamental. I feel like everyone is equal. That doesn't feel like politics to me.
  • I: Your fans are fetishists. They know all of your tattoos, piece of jewellery, they have heart attacks when you cut your hair. Right now you're playing with their feelings. Do you know that?
  • H: Oh ok.
  • I: Yes! What is your favourite tattoo?
  • H: I think... I have a.. probably. I don't know, actually.
  • I: Which one is the latest?
  • H: The latest is this one there. *shows Arlo* And this one. *shows Jackson*
  • I: Jackson? All of them?
  • H: Yes.
  • I: What's the story behind your haircut? How much did you spend on hair products with One Direction?
  • H: Yeah, like a lot. I used a lot, yeah.
  • I: You're in Dunkirk, Christopher Nolan's new movie.
  • H: Yes.
  • I: How did you do?
  • H: I auditioned.
  • I: Look at you there.
  • H: I am, that's me.
  • I: Yes.
  • H: I auditioned and it was great. It's going to be a really cool movie.
  • I: Harry, it feels like we know you since you're a baby. The whole world discovered you in 2010 on X Factor.
  • *video of Harry's X Factor audition*
  • I: You auditioned alone but Simon Cowell had an idea... he put you in a band with Zayn, Louis, Liam and Niall. You became One Direction. You found the name One Direction and you sold millions of albums. One Direction are soon considered as the new Beattles and you filled the biggest stadiums. The whole world was talking about you. When you go out we prayed for your eardrums. You became UK's pride. David Cameron is in one of your music videos, your sang for the Queen. But in 2015... bang! Zayn left the band, fans couldn't get over it. But don't worry, their favourite is now on the cover of the Rolling Stone magazine, he's in Christopher Nolan's new movie, he's Mick Jagger on SNL... What you don't know is that we've met in 2012. You were in France to promote an album and now I have questions. First one! When you're in a car and fans are all around you, do you see that?
  • *video of fans around a car*
  • H: I think I've actually lost my shoe there. When I got in the car... I got in the car and I was like "how many shoes do I have?" Yes I lost my shoe.
  • I: I have another question! Do you still do that before going on stage?
  • *video of Harry and Lou*
  • I: Can we do it?
  • H: No.
  • *does it anyway*
  • I: What is the weirdest question someone asked you?
  • H: I think it was actually a French interview. I got asked if I would pee in a sink... Yeah.
  • I: Ok, that's weird!
  • H: It was the first question, the first question.
  • I: It puts you in the mood.
  • H: Yeah.
  • I: What is the question you never want to be asked ever again? Did I asked you that question?
  • *Harry asks the public*
  • H: Which one? Oh crush.
  • I: What?
  • H: Crush.
  • I: Oh ok. I didn't ask it! Did you know that a French author wrote a novel about you. It's called "Styles", it's about his obsession with you. It's in French. You can translate it.
  • H: Oh! Is that true?
  • I: Yes it's true. He dedicated to you. It's called "Styles" and it's a really good book. Read it!
  • H: Thank you.
  • I: Thank you very much Harry Styles for coming tonight. His first eponymous album comes out on the 12th May. Thank you Harry Styles.
  • H: Thank you.
  • I: Have a safe journey home.

Sometimes I think about the fact that there are people out there somewhere who hate Annie and I can't even understand like how do u come to such a bad conclusion in ur life? Anyway I love u

Sigh. Annie, oh Annie.

I swear this character is bad for my mental health sometimes because the amount feelings i get shouldn’t be legal.

Annie is responsible for alot of discourse. Although im not the oldest member in this hellhole that is the Snk fandom i can tell you that people’s feelings for her are either an unlimited amount of love, frustration, or pure hate.

With everything relevant to her that has been put in the manga i think i can tell what causes all of the above, and especially the last two. This is gonna be a  pretty much a character analysis because i want to ramble k bye have fun reading.

Fluffy prompt, Barry introducing Len to Henry?

Henry wondered what the big news was. He was hoping - hoping - it wasn’t some new catastrophe in Barry’s life. It was always hard to tell, with him. But he didn’t tend to come up to the cabin too often, and when he’d called earlier in the week to say he was coming up on Saturday, Barry had sounded nervous, like it was urgent.

That tended to mean a catastrophe. Henry sighed, putting on a kettle for tea. If it was really a catastrophe, some new meta-terror, he’d hope that Barry would have sped out here sooner, so maybe that wasn’t it. And he’d said he was driving out, which was entirely different than normal.

So it was something. Henry just… couldn’t put his finger on what.

Sad Song-Michael Clifford

I heard this song and knew I had to put it in something…gotta love We The Kings…This is the Mikey version of the 4/4 where management makes you pr date one of the guys….so ya….enjoy!

You were in desperate need of new guitar picks. You were hopeless at being able to keep anything, honestly if your head wasn’t attached to your body you might loose it. You headed to your favorite music store, to get some new picks and see what new guitars they had. You were eyeing this Yamaha acoustic guitar, when you heard a familiar melody. Someone was playing on one of the pianos. It was “Sad Song” by We The Kings, one of your favorites…actually one you used to listen to quite often after you broke up with someone very special to you. Whoever was playing was good. Really good. You decided to find this mystery player. You headed to where the pianos, where a boy with longer blond hair in a red flannel shirt was playing. You were standing behind him, so you couldn’t see his face. But when he started singing, you instantly knew who this boy was.

“You and I, We’re like fireworks and symphonies exploding in the sky.

With you, I’m alive, Like all the missing pieces of my heart, they finally collide.

So stop time right here in the moonlight, ‘Cause I don’t ever wanna close my eyes.”

He sang in a deep, raspy voice. Then he proceeded to sing the chorus.

“Without you, I feel broke. Like I’m half of a whole.

Without you, I’ve got no hand to hold.

Without you, I feel torn. Like a sail in a storm.

Without you, I’m just a sad song. I’m just a sad song…”

He continued to play, and the sight of this boy who used to mean so much of you pulled at your heart. He hadn’t noticed you were there, so it made it easy for you to join in on the next part.

“With you I fall. It’s like I’m leaving all my past in silhouettes upon the wall.

With you I’m a beautiful mess. It’s like we’re standing hand in hand with all our fears upon the edge.

So stop time right here in the moonlight, ‘Cause I don’t ever wanna close my eyes.”

He didn’t stop playing, and you saw him smile even before he looked at you. He knew your voice just as well as you knew his, and would recognize it anywhere. You finished the rest of the song together.

“Without you, I feel broke. Like I’m half of a whole.

Without you, I’ve got no hand to hold.

Without you, I feel torn. Like a sail in a storm.

Without you, I’m just a sad song.

You’re the perfect melody, The only harmony I wanna hear.

You’re my favorite part of me,

With you standing next to me, I’ve got nothing to fear.”

“Without you, I feel broke. Like I’m half of a whole.”

“Without you, I’ve got no hand to hold.”

“Without you, I feel torn. Like a sail in a storm.

Without you, I’m just a sad song.

Without you, I feel broke. Like I’m half of a whole.

Without you, I’ve got no hand to hold.

Without you, I feel torn. Like a sail in a storm.

Without you, I’m just a sad song. I’m just a sad song…”

Despite the years apart, you still knew each other well, especially when it came to music. This was probably the best cover the two of you had ever done together. When you finished, there was applause filling the shop.

“Looks like the audience loves us Y/n” The blond boy said.

“They always have Michael” You smiled.

“How’ve you been? It’s been what?”

“Too long. I’m doing good. I’m guessing you are too, from the way your band has took off”

“Yes. It’s been amazing,”

“How are the guys?”

“They’re great. They’d love to see you…I’d like to spend some time with you too…”

“Michael-”

“Just dinner or something?”

“Sorry…I just can't…”

“Y/n…”

“Look Michael. It took me a long time to get over you…I understand why we had to break things off, I mean you had so many people expecting things from you, and management thought I’d be a distraction…but that doesn’t mean that years later, you can just walk into my life again Michael”

“I’m sorry…” Michael said, a pained expression on his face.

“I know Mikey” You said, tears in your eyes. “Take care of yourself ok?”

Before you could turn to go, he pulled your arm to bring you into a tight embrace. You stayed like that for awhile, wrapped in his arms. It felt so nice, brought back so many good memories. But then you pulled away, kissing his cheek.

“Bye Mikey”

“Bye Y/n”

Then you left the store, refusing to loo back. So much for the guitar picks.

…..

Later when you got home, you opened twitter, needing a distraction so you wouldn’t dwell on what just happened.

However the internet was cruel.

As soon as you opened the app you saw that you had gotten over 100 new followers. You were flattered, but knew something had to be up. Sure enough, all over your feed there was a video of you and Michael singing. There were even pictures of you guys hugging and you kissing his cheek. Of course this was all the 5sos fam was talking about.

Who is she?

Oh my gosh its Y/n! Remember when they used to date?

So cute!

Think they’re back together?

These were some of many comments you read. Weird how some fans literally knew everything, you just hoped they were just really old fans who were there from the beginning.

So that was why so many people were following you, and why you were tagged by all these people.

So much for forgetting what happened. You turned off your phone and decided to call it a night, even if it was only 8. You didn’t want to deal with anything now.

…..

The next morning you were woken up by the sound of your phone ringing. You weren’t able to resist last night, and scrolled though everything everyone was saying about you, luckily mostly nice things.

“Hello?” You said groggily. You looked at the clock. 7:30. Who calls so early?

“Miss Y/n?”

“Yes…who is this?”

“My name is Joan. I’m part of the 5sos management?”

This woke you up.

“What? Um…what do you guys want with me?”

“We’d like you to come down and meet with us. We’ll send you the address. Be here in one hour. Believe me, you should come” Then she hung up.

What the hell? Sure enough you received a text message with an address seconds later.

Feeling as though you had no choice, you quickly got dressed and headed down to meet with that goddamn management that you still couldn’t bring yourself to particularly like.

…..

The address was one of those fancy hotels that held a lot of business meetings. Sure enough, the room given to you was a conference room. There was a lady already there, who you were assuming was Joan, and another man you didn’t recognize. Of course management would change, maybe this was a good thing.

“Y/n. So glad you could make it. I’m Joan.” Joan said, standing up to shake your hand then leading you to the table.

“Hello. My name is Mark.” The man shook your hand.

“Hi…so what is this about?” You asked.

“All will be explained in just a bit Y/n. We’re waiting on one more person” Mark smiled.

“Yes and in the meantime, tell us about your former relationship with Michael?” Joan asked calmly, as if she was asking about the weather and not something very personal.

“Me and Michael? Um…we dated for about a year. Then his band started to take off. And people not to different from you thought it would be a good idea for us to break things off. End of story”

Before they could answer, the door burst open and Michael came running in.

“Sorry I’m late! I was-Y/n? What are you doing here?”

“That’s what I’m waiting to find out”

“Michael. Finally. Aright now that we have the both of you together, I’ll get straight to the point. We want the both of you to date”

“Isn’t that our decision” You said while Michael said “Woah”

“For PR purposes of course. We don’t expect you guys to be in a committed relationship based off our request. Listen it will be great for the  both of you. You both used to date before, so news of you guys getting back together will be huge. Already, those pictures from yesterday are all over the place. It will give you both some positive attention. Y/n, you are releasing an album soon are you not? This could give you the perfect opportunity to  gets some publicity-”

“Wait, you’re trying to bribe her? That’s ridiculous! I mean she’d-” Michael practically yelled, but you interrupted him.

“Might just agree. I’m not as famous as you Mikey, and my music is going well, but any attention is kind of needed right now…”

“Very good Y/n-” You also cut Joan off

“Of course I would need to know what exactly this whole “PR relationship” entitle? What do you expect us to do?“

"Everything will be set up of course. Paparazzi sent to the restaurant, they take a few photos. Then of course you guys post some things on social media, make it seem as though you guys are dating. That’s really all there is to it” Mark said.

“So do we have an agreement?” Joan added

You looked at Michael.

“You’re not actually considering this are you?” Michael asked you, completely frazzled.

“Well you wanted to do dinner right? And how bad could it be? I really need this Mikey…”

Michael sighed. “Fine. For you.”

You gave him a hug and he held you tightly.

“Alright. We’ll let you guys know the time and place of your guy’s 'first date’” Joan smiled, seeming pleased.

…..

“Laser tag?” You asked Michael. When they said date, you expected dinner, maybe even a movie, but laser tag? That was the last thing you’d think of

“They may have gave me a say into what we do…” Michael grinned

“You don’t say?” You laughed

“Alright, ready for some fun?” Michael asked while buckling you into one of those heavy jackets.

“I don’t know, ready to get your ass kicked?” You teased

“You wish” Michael said, giving you a wink.

Several hours later, he had two games on you. You couldn’t believe this. And of course, Michael didn’t let you forget it.

“Not so easy to beat am I?” Michael laughed.

“Whatever Mikey…fuck you”

“Why so salty?”

“Shut up. You won, got it. End of story, may we move on?”

“Well I won, so I get a prize don’t I?”

“Prize? What on earth could you-”

You were interrupted when he suddenly smashed his lips against yours, wrapping his arms around your waist to pull you close to him as he continued to kiss you so tenderly and passionately…

“That” He said when you both had pulled away. “I think that’s reward enough. I’m starved, you want some pizza?”

You just smiled, grabbing his hand, as you headed towards the food court.

The secret places of Paris

Jehanparnasse, Urban Fantasy, Trans!Montparnasse, Faerie!Jehan, 3k

Fluffy one-shot that fits as a sequel to Coffee and Faerie Cakes, written for day 1 of Jehanparnasse week 2017: Magic. Also on AO3.

Cw: alcohol and…recreational use of magic (?).

There is a pattern to the days and a pattern to the magic held within them. Friday belongs to the Fae, Sunday does not. Jehan respects that and they know better than to try do anything too draining on a Sunday as far as magic is concerned. Today, however, they feel like nothing could possibly drain them. They are walking on Montparnasse’s arm, with a rose he just stole from a garden tucked behind their ear.

Montparnasse chuckles.

“What?” Jehan asks, squeezing his arm.

“That rose wasn’t quite so pretty when I picked it,” he grins. “It’s wilting in reverse.”

Jehan smiles, but doesn’t answer. They are so excited they could glow. “Tell me more about the club!” they say eagerly.

“Patience,” Montparnasse smirks. “You’ll see soon enough.”

“You’re a tease,” Jehan complains, giving Montparnasse a reproachful look.

He smirks a little more and still refuses to talk. All Jehan knows about the place they’re going to is that it is owned by humans who possess sorcery and that it has become one of hidden places in Paris where those that know about magic gather.

“It’s dangerous to leave me alone with my imagination,” Jehan warns their boyfriend. “I might be disappointed.”

anonymous asked:

Really sorry to bother you! But could you please rec me some good books with lgbtqia characters? Thank you sweetie :)

yessssss of course!!

  1. the half life trilogy by sally green!! half bad and half wild are out already! angry poc bisexual witchy boy that you can’t help but want to protect tbh. the initial writing style made me go ????? but don’t let that put you off PLEASE bc it’s rly wonderful and deals with so many things (trigger warnings for death, suicide, gore, and a lot more but those are the main things i think?)

  2. the torch keeper trilogy by steven dos santos. again, the first two books (the culling, the sowing) are out already and i’m praying we get the raising soon tbh. amazing books that feel really hunger games (i hate comparing ya dystopian to thg but there are certain similarities. anyway). poc gay main character. this books comes w a lot of trigger warnings as well tbh, going from death to gore and everything in between.

  3. madeline miller’s the song of achilles. it’s queer iliad fan fiction tbh. prepare to have your heart ripped out. if you know the original story of achilles and patroclus,  but it’s like that only 18 times worse.

  4. alison bechdel – fun home. this is a graphic novel and idk if you are into that, but it’s honestly so great??? there are a lot of lit references and sometimes it’s hard to catch them all, but tbh it doesn’t really matter because the story is still so good (it’s autobiagraphical but don’t let that stop you tbh) and it’s told in such a beautiful way? (ps also check out the musical once you read it)

  5. boy meets boy by david levithan. tbh this is the lowkey easy queer ya romance novel we all deserve? it’s rly basic tbh, just boys falling in love, but it’s just nice to read something cute once in a while (though the story deals w more than that as well, but u know)

  6. kissing the witch, honestly this book honestly. it’s written by emma donoghue and it’s not??? a novel in the tradition sense of the word i guess?? it’s more like a bunch of short stories w a smilar theme? anyway, it’s all retellings of famous fairytales, some of them w a queer twist on it (most of them, i guess). they’re all about women and the language is so so so beautiful, i love it so much. it’s sad but also happy and like………. it touches my soul tbh

  7. alex london w proxy duology!!!!!! it took me so long to get to proxy lmao but really u should read it!!! it’s again dystopian, with as main character a poc gay cinnamon roll. the sequel to proxy is guardian and honestly i don’t have much to say abt these books except go read them please

  8. the line of beauty by alan hollinghurst. i had to read this book for my queer lit class and at first it was a pain in the ass to get through it lmao. i’ve cursed this book so many times and at one point i wasn’t sure if i’d ever finish it, but in the end i did and it was so worth it……. it’s probably one of my fave books i had to read for that class. the way it’s written is just??? plain poetry??? honestly??? and it deals w homosexuality in the 1980s, but also w racism and classism and the aids crisis and all that. if you have a lot of time and feel like frustrating yourself but also enjoying it, go read it!!!

  9. the raven cycle by maggie stiefvater. okay tbh i’m not sure how i feel about putting this book on a queer books list but…… well, okay. this book has queer character(s) but the way they’re handled makes me feel kind of…… idk. their queerness is never mentioned and everything is Between The Lines and it’s all so under the radar that i’m just like??? fuck it tbh. but i enjoy these books a lot and all the characters make my heart bleed and i love the relationships so i can’t leave it out either? the books are wonderful in the way they deal w modern magic and friendships and relationships (platonic and romantic) and like, wanting thing and needing things and longing for things etc etc. so i would rec them for those things more than for the queer aspects lmao but anyway a rec is a rec

  10. aristotle and dnate discover the secrets of the universe by benjamin aire saenz. lmao okay confession time, the first time i saw this book  was when it was recced to me by goodreads, and i just looked at it like ??? what kind of fucking title is that??? and scrolled pst it lmao. but then it showed up again and i checked it out and it sounded nice to i bought it and FELL IN LOVE oh my god. don’t let the title foor you. this book is amazing, it’s so tragically beautiful??? but it’s also happy, and it feels so real to me? like nothing about it is fake or made to look differently or influenced in one way or another? it just feels real and raw and i love that about it. the main storyline is two mexican boys living in the 1980s meeting each other, but believe me when i say it’s so much more than that

  11. lost and found by carolyn parkhurst. the queer aspects of this novel are….. hard to describe lmao. they’re only a small part of the storyline but then again they’re also a p big part? actually let me just copy the blurb of this novel tbh: “What do a suburban mom, her troubled daughter, divorced brothers, former child stars, born-again Christians, and young millionaires have in common? They have all been selected to compete on LOST AND FOUND, a daring new reality show.“ this book will definitely not be everyone’s cup of tea but yknow.

  12. adaptation duology – malinda lo. ya scifi w a bisexual girl protag. i haven’t read the 2nd book (inheritance) so i can’t say much about that. tbh the pacing of this book felt rly kind of weird sometimes, but yknow. bisexual girl protags are rare so i won’t be picky. i’ll take it.

  13. rebecca brown – the gifts of the body. again this is more a bunch of shirt stories and they are also hard to explain lmao. the main theme of this book is aids, the protag is a nameless person, a home care worker who helps people w aids. we read their storries and learn about their lives and what happened to them. it was??? surprisingly emotional to me tbh.

  14. blue is the warmest color by julier maroh. if you’ve seen the movie: don’t let it fool you. the graphic novel is a lot less male gaze-y lmao

anonymous asked:

help me, i can't explain to my friend why i love Al so much, could you give me some reasons so i can tell her more that just "he cares too much"

oKAY oh mAN oK alRIGHT Alphonse is amazing both as Alphonse but also as a literary character oh my god??? He is literally a ray of sunlight that will wreck your shit?? Okay, let’s see: he’s kind and gentle, has amazing fighting and survival skills, and a knowledge that is only rivaled by his brother’s. Like honestly, AL IS SO GREAT he’s probably the strongest character in the series. He’s had one of the most difficult burdens in the series to bare, and he doesn’t complain about his life, or say it’s too difficult, he never thinks about giving up even when we know he has difficulty being alone at night and having terrible thoughts. LIKE SERIOUSLY HE TRIES TO NOT LET IT BOTHER HIM BECAUSE A). HE BELIEVES IN MOVING FORWARD AND NOT WALLOWING OVER YOUR PAST MISTAKES OR HOW BAD UR LIFE PRESENTLY IS B). LBR HE WOULDN’T DO THAT TO ED BECAUSE AL IS JUST THANKFUL THAT IS BROTHER SAVED HIS LIFE. AL LITERALLY LOST THE ABILITY TO EAT, SLEEP, FEEL, ETC. AND HE’S OKAY WITH IT BECAUSE HE KNOWS THE ALTERNATIVE IS BEING DEAD AND ON TOP OF IT ED GAVE UP HIS RIGHT ARM TO SAVE AL. AL DOESN’T SEE THIS AS THE WORST CASE SCENARIO, LIKE ED DOES, HE SEES IT AS HIS BROTHER SAVING HIS LIFE AND HE GRATEFUL ED DID THAT. AND THROUGH ALL THAT HE JUST WANTS TO HELP ED GET HIS LIMBS BACK BECAUSE HE SACRIFICED SO MUCH FOR ALPHONSE.

Like seriously they know Al’s body is more important. Ed can deal with automail, Al’s body is pulling on his soul while his armor is rejecting it; he is literally a ticking time bomb. But through this he doesn’t lose sight in their shared goal, he is making sure that no matter what Ed gets back what  he loses as well. Every time Ed (or anyone for that matter) brings up getting Al’s body back, Alphonse will deliberately point out that he wants Ed’s body back as well.
OKAY BUT SERIOUSLY I LOVE HIS CHARACTER. He’s this sweet little muffin. He really is. He’s extremely protective of the people he loves, and because of that he is also ruthless. Like people think Ed is the fighter, but like nah man. If you watch closely, Ed’s fighting style is defensive, Al’s is offensive. He’s the best fighter around, and he will fight someone if they’ve endangered someone he loves. Like how layered of a character is that?! He’s seen as this springtime meadow child but he literally threatened to murder Shou Tucker while Ed was sobbing. Writing a character that’s so subtle complex is difficult and I commend Arakawa for pulling it off so fantastically.

COMING OFF THAT he’s so protective and I love it because Ed is as well, but they show it in such different ways. Alphonse was literally able to turn his armor body, his disability, into an advantage, he’s not afraid to jump out in front of people to stop them from getting hurt and he will just throw himself into danger if it means they don’t get hurt, because he’s so strong and unable to feel pain that he just does it without a second thought.

ALSO!!!! He’s devoted, just as much as Ed is to him. He sacrificed his soul, his entire life, in order for Edward to get his arm back. He knew how much it would hurt Ed, who was absolutely terrified to leave Al alone after he himself was alone after Al’s body was taken, but he did it for the greater good. His moral compass is so strong oh my god like he is willing to fight tooth and nail for what he believes is right omg like I think the greatest part of his character arc was episode 59 when he finally comes face to face with his body like holy shit he literally left behind the body he had been searching for for five years because he knew people needed him and he needed to protect them but that body wasn’t strong enough like he literally put his own dream on hold because he couldn’t bare just sitting there and doing nothing and being weak like his character development was so subtle but it was so great he went from barely being able to deal with the long nights in the armor to learning to use it to his advantage to finally realizing that, while he needed his own body back, his armor did have perks and that there were people that needed him and he couldn’t protect them in his human body. And it wasn’t until there was literally nothing left he could do that he finally went back to his body.

AND I MEAN HE REALLY IS A LITERAL CUPCAKE HE’S A SWEET PIE AND A TOTAL CUTE PATOOT WHAT’S NOT TO LOVE WTF ALPHONSE ELRIC APPRECIATION LIFE

Sorry I just…I just really like Alphonse.

Hi, can you explain to me a couple of things, that make me doubt Larry is real, 1st being Jay's wedding. If Eleanor was a beard, surely they would put their foot down at having her at a family wedding, and whilst I might understand she may have become a family friend, having her as a bridesmaid seems a bit skeptical that she's not Louis' gf. Also, Haylor -have you listened to 1989 at all? I can't believe someone who doesn't love &didn't have a relationship at all, could write songs like that

You sound like a troll, you believe in Larry BUT you don’t believe in Larry.

I am going to reply because this post gives a good opportunity to collect some stuff to newcomers or people who want to SEE.

Elton John married his beard. MARRIED.

Country star Ty Herndon has come out a month ago as a “proud and happy gay man,” People is reporting. Herndon, who has been married and divorced to women twice, also said that he is currently in “an awesome relationship” with his partner, Matt, and hopes to tie the knot again. MARRIED TO WOMEN. TWICE!!

This post debunks the shadiness with the maid of honor thing.

This is a PR Expert’s opinion on Elounor. She is well aware of bearding in the industry. Just look at what she says:

Anonymous asked:

If the family really knows the truth about Louis and Eleanor being a fake relationship, why would the Louis’ mom go the extra mile and make her the MOH in her wedding? I still can’t wrap my head around that. It just looks bad either way you look at it, if the sisters still think it’s real than Jay took the extra step in lying to her kids, if the sisters know it’s fake then they took part in role playing for a ceremony that should of been as genuine as possible. Still can’t believe that day tbh.

goodbyeadulthood:

I’ve given my opinion on the MOH thing a bit already, and I’m definitely not trying to say this is definitely the case, but it’s absolutely not impossible for me to imagine a scenario like this:

Louis has more or less stopped playing along with the relationship. His family doesn’t really care one way or another, but they know Louis doesn’t want her around, and Harry probably wants her there even less. Louis still has to fill a contractual obligation, though, so instead of going on some big staged date with her, they put Eleanor in a bridesmaid’s dress, take a few pictures, put one up on Instagram claiming she was MOH, and then once the pictures have gotten around and/or people have noticed she was there, she goes home. Easy, done, and people assume they’re telling the truth, even the ones who believe she isn’t his real girlfriend. Just because Instagram or Twitter says she was maid of honour, that doesn’t mean she actually was.

And, as I’ve said before, although it’s none of my business, even if she were his real girlfriend, that’s a really odd choice for maid of honour. I’ve been with my boyfriend for nearly five years now, and I would honestly feel a bit uncomfortable if his mum asked me to be maid of honour at her wedding instead of one of her sisters or friends.

Anonymous asked:

I agree with what you’re saying about Louis’ bearding being mostly hand holding, but the interaction she seems to have with his younger sisters feels much more harmful. How will they explain this to them when it all comes out? There are several pictures of her at family dinners with all of the kids. That is more than just hand holding. I’m not trying to argue, I’m just trying to work it out. Do you think maybe Lottie knows now, and is taking over main bearding duties (NYC)?

goodbyeadulthood:

I would think his family has probably already known for a while, honestly. Even the younger sisters. They may not have known all along (I’ve seen a few people on here trying to work out when he told them), but I think they’ve got to know by this point. If a load of total strangers on the internet can see that he’s with Harry, I would think his family would be able to see it much easier.

I would venture to guess that she’s not nearly as entwined in their family as you’re meant to believe. Even if there are ten to fifteen different photos of her with his family, that’s still only 10-15 days out of three years, and even then, she may have only been there for a few minutes each time. Even after all this time, and despite what it may look like to an outside observer, she could easily still be basically a stranger to his family, no matter what they tell you over twitter or whatever else.

Anonymous asked:

Do you think that maybe the Eleanor situation has become much bigger and complicated than they have thought it would be? Normally if someone who isn’t famous is bearding they don’t have fans of their own. The footballer taking a friend for a pair of shoes to an event or maybe some yacht pictures, but no one expects them to go to a graduation, wedding, holiday or it’s not being watched like in the Truman Show. She seems to be more an accessory that’s working much more than she wants to.

External image

goodbyeadulthood:

Oh, definitely. I think they probably went into it assuming it was going to just be a standard bearding (a few photo-ops here and there, a couple dates to events then wash their hands of it more or less), and then they were totally overwhelmed when it got the attention that it did. I honestly think that’s why it’s so flimsy and shot through with holes. They didn’t put enough effort into it, because they didn’t expect it to gain this level of attention and scrutiny.

Anonymous asked:

If she really was that close to Jay and/or Louis family then why didn’t we see them at her graduation or Jay’s hen party?

goodbyeadulthood:

Wait, they tried to say she was maid of honour but she wasn’t even at the hen night? Well, there’s your answer.

anonymous asked:

So I was in certain fandom, finding out/knowing Characters' Past seems Important so the Anime/Manga. Because if the protagonist or their friends doesn't know a certain important character's past, they can't help or understand them. Then, I remember Luffy. Luffy seems doesn't want to know his crew's Past because he think it wasn't important for his crew's present live. But their past seems always caught them (Nami, Robin, and now Sanji). So without knowing, it was bad, right?

A few months ago I wrote a big post about this subject–about how the majority of the Straw Hats do not know about each other’s pasts. As I said there (you can read the full post here), I think that this is a conscious choice on Oda’s part to try to further illustrate the general idea in One Piece that everyone, no matter where the come from and what their past is, can keep moving forward and get to a better place.

The “pasts” of various characters are indeed something that sometimes influences what’s going on in the story, but I have a different take on it than you. For starters, it wasn’t Robin’s past that caught up with her during Water 7 and Enies Lobby. Rather, what caught up with her–what prevented her from simply jumping ship and saving herself at the cost of her companions, which was how she survived for 20 long years with a target on her back, was the the fact that for the first time since she was 8 years old she actually cared about her companions

And that care that she had for them, and the care that they had for her, is what broke the cycle of mistrust and betrayal that had characterized Robin’s entire life and allowed her to feel truly at home and happy for the first time in her life.

And with Sanji. Yeah, right now junk is rough for him. His family ties are coming back to bite him in the ass in a way that he never thought would happen. But even if he had told the Straw Hats about that stuff, they still wouldn’t really have been able to do much to prevent the current situation because how could they ever have imagined that his family would marry him off to Big Mom and that she would use her power to force him to separate himself from the crew.

Knowing some characters’ pasts can be helpful to the other characters around them. Some characters do need to know that to better sympathize with people, and it can be helpful with regard to making plans to at least attempt to deal with things if someone anticipates that their past might somehow cause problems in the future. However, that is absolutely not how Luffy roles, and that is not the kind of message that Oda wants to send through Luffy’s attitude on this subject.

Rather, Luffy is about acceptance. Luffy accepts people as they are. Remember when Sabo told him and Ace that he was actually a noble?

And remember when Luffy learned about Hancock being a slave? He actually tried to stop them from talking about it because he recognized that bringing it up was a traumatic experience for them

And of course, when Nojiko showed up and basically offered to explain to them what the situation of the village was and why Nami had betrayed them, Luffy was unconcerned and passed on hearing about it without a second thought

The theme among all of these scenes, and more, is acceptance. Oh, you’re secretly a noble and you’ve been lying to us about who you are? That’s fine. Oh, you used to be a slave? Don’t worry about it, you don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to. Oh, you’ve got some complicated reason for why you betrayed me and stole my ship? You don’t need to explain it to me, I trust you had your reasons and I don’t need to know them.

Again, some people do need to know another person’s past in order to understand them. But Luffy isn’t really about understanding people. He’s just about accepting them. Luffy’s relationship with Bellamy is another example. Bellamy never had a sob story behind his actions. Bellamy doesn’t have some tragic past that explains why he was such a piece of shit back in Mock Town. Bellamy’s history was literally “I’m a rich kid who decided to become a pirate b/c I thought it’d be fun”

This is probably why Doflamingo never accepted Bellamy–why he only kept stringing Bellamy along and never let him actually join his crew, which was Bellamy’s dream in life. As Oda said in the vol. 77 SBS,

“[Monet and Sugar] were rescued from an extremely misfortunate environment by Doflamingo himself, and as sisters aged 9 and 17, they resolved to throw their lives away if it were for the sake of the Family. They were provided with Devil Fruits after joining. You see, Doflamingo is very observant of the ‘environments’ that people grow up in.”

Doflamingo’s entire crew was made up of people who had nothing. Those were the people he felt connected to, the people he believed he could rely on, perhaps the people he believed he could best manipulate and mold into what he wanted (which was also what was done to him by his Executives). Bellamy wasn’t like that. Bellamy was a kid from a well off town who threw that life away out of boredom, something that Doflamingo, who was a pirate because all the wealth and status he had was taken away from him against his wishes, surely resented about Bellamy and looked down on him for.  By all rights, Doflamingo did understand Bellamy. He understood Bellamy, and he thought Bellamy was pathetic for it.

But Luffy? Luffy never knew a damn thing about Bellamy’s past. And when they first ran into each other again on Dressrosa, Luffy was ready for a fight because he remembered that Bellamy had hurt Cricket. But Bellamy, simply by telling Luffy that he wouldn’t mock him anymore and by demonstrating his newfound strength and determination in the ring… Luffy began to like Bellamy and cheer for him

Even though Bellamy was still his enemy because he worked for Doflamingo, even though they had a bad history together, even though Bellamy had been planning to kill Luffy on Doflamingo’s orders, and even though Luffy knew nothing of Bellamy’s past… Luffy still came to see Bellamy as a friend based purely on Bellamy’s actions of the present time.

Luffy isn’t someone who anyone ever needs to explain or justify themselves to. He simply either likes/respects the person you are at the present moment, or he doesn’t. You did some bad junk a while back? He’s not going to sweat it if he can see that in the present you’re a better person. Luffy just isn’t interested in understanding people, in judging them for their past actions and evaluating whether or not they have properly atoned for them or if they had a good enough reason for doing whatever they did. He doesn’t particularly care about your tragic past, or your shallow privileged one either. He just cares about the person you are now. (But that said, Luffy is probably always going to hate people like Arlong, Crocodile, Akainu, and Blackbeard for the things they’ve done to people he cares about. Plus, they’re also people who will probably never try to turn over a new leaf, so all this doesn’t really apply to them.)

So no, I don’t think that we should believe that the Straw Hats are wrong to not know more about each others’ pasts. I don’t think that we should be concerned that they don’t all “understand” each other as much as they could. Because One Piece isn’t really trying to be about that. Rather, its focus is on accepting people for who they are in the present, regardless of whatever their past might have been. The Straw Hats might not know each other’s histories very well, but they understand who each other are in the present damn well

we're both on the debate team but we can't argue without screaming at each other sterek au sounds glorious 8D

“I don’t understand how you can do that,” Scott says, looking at Stiles in confusion.

“How I can do what?” Stiles asks, equally bemused.

“How you can spend the entire class period arguing with Derek,” Scott clarifies, and now it’s Stiles’ turn to look at him oddly.

“Dude, it’s debate,” Stiles replies, frowning. “Arguing’s kind of the point.”

“But he’s your partner,” Scott says, and okay, maybe he does have a bit of a point. “You’re supposed to argue with the other team.”

"I - he just - he debates everything the wrong way,” Stiles whines, slumping against Scott’s shoulder. “Like today! He spent way too much time tearing down the other team’s argument and nearly didn’t leave enough time to properly develop our own! We almost lost!”

"Dude, it wasn’t even a practice debate,” Scott replies. “You guys were supposed to be watching and taking notes on last year’s national championship final.”

“Scottie, Lydia’s team won last year. I have the video practically memorized,” Stiles snorts, clapping Scott on the shoulder. “And although I may have struck out this year, next year she’s totally gonna be my new debate partner. Just you wait and see.”

Stiles and Scott both jump as Derek slams the door behind him when he leaves the debate room.

"Jesus, what is his problem?” Stiles mutters.

Scott shrugs.

are we really surprised that Connor came out before Jude though? The Judicorn made it clear from the beginning that he didn’t like labels, and he was fair more comfortable discussing his sexuality than Connor was. I do think it’s because he had the support of his family, but it also might be a personality trait (because we know he hadn’t always have it easy), Jude is strong enough that he doesn’t care about what people think, at the point that he doesn’t like Callie’s little speech about ‘living low key’ in season one.

Connor, on the other hand, has been raised by a homophobic father had him fearing to even utter the word 'gay’. As a gay person, it must have been a nightmare to be forced to negate his own identity, to be taught how to ‘act straight’ since before he even knew what it meant . When Connor met Jude, he was well aware of the difference between ‘acting gay’ and ‘straight’ and i’m sure that he was very endeared by the boy who could go to school wearing blue nail polish and stand up to the bullies without blinking an eye.

The point is, Connor didn’t have the privilege of discovering his sexuality in a healthy environment, and in a perfect world we would all act like the Judicorn, not using labels, not judging and never caring about what people think. Nevertheless, the world portrayed in the show is very much the real world and Connor has experienced a side of it that we all know too well. Labels are important to him because they are to his father, and as much as i wish this wasn’t the case, that same label that his father made him fear is the only instrument that he has to stand up to him.

I noticed that people tend to misunderstand Connor’s actions with ‘confusion’ and ‘playing’, and so many times Jude has been portrayed like the pining gay boy with a crush on his straight friend. In reality, Connor’s situation has been clear for a long time. Yes, Connor was questioning himself, yes, he probably wasn’t sure of his identity when he first met Jude, but for a boy raised in a homophobic environment, he’s taken pretty big steps and i’m impressed on the beautiful development that the writers have made him go through. I don’t blame Connor for having kept dating Daria, I don’t blame him for having wanted to keep his and Jude’s relationship a secret, and I am certainly not surprised that he came out before Jude. Connor needed to make it clear, to his father and to himself, that no matter what he’s been taught, no matter how much of his identity has been negated before it could fully develop, he can’t hide who he is, and who he is can be defined with a specific label that does matter a lot.

I'm sorry But i can't understand Narry. I don't see it. Maybe because i'm a larry shipper. But think about all the larry tattoos how do you explain it? I'm really trying to understand but I can't. Could you explain me why Narry is real?

Oh, it’s definitely because you’re a Larry shipper. That’s not even me trying to be rude or offensive, because that’s not it at all, that’s just literally a fact. Larry shippers have a tendency of failing to see anything apart from Larry – and sometimes, its not even your fault. Sometimes, and I’ve had this said to me by former Larries in the past, its simply because other Larries (the bigger Larrie blogs, most often) say things, and twist things around in a way in which Larry is the only thing that “makes sense”.

Anyway, moving on. Regarding the Larry tattoos – I explain their tattoos as just simply being tattoos. In the Larry fandom, it’s all about how “this matches with that” and “that matches with this”, but here’s the thing: if you look at it objectively, as a non-shipper, most of the tattoos have a nautical theme. This nautical theme stems from sailors traveling at sea. In this particular case, it stems from the fact that boys are always traveling – Harry has referenced this at least once in the past. That being said, google what those types of tattoos  usually mean, without trying to tie them together. Google a ship tattoo stands for. Google what an anchor tattoo stands for, without trying to connect to a rope.

The other thing about their tattoos is that Larries are convinced that nearly every single tattoo they have match – and that’s just so…unbelievable to me. I mean, aside from the fact that I don’t believe in Larry to begin with, couples just don’t do that. Yes, sometimes couples will get a matching/complementary tattoo – but they don’t decorate half their body with them. Not only would it be totally stupid, but it’s entirely unrealistic. I mean, for arguments sake, lets just pretend for a second that Larry actually is real – what if, at some point in the future, something happens and break up? If you were in that position, how silly would you feel, for getting permanent pieces of art all over your body? Think about Zayn for a minute. He probably thought he was going to be in love with Perrie for his entire life, hence his tattoo of her, and now look at them. And that’s just one tattoo.

Now, moving on again, this time to Narry. I mean, to be honest with you, I really don’t understand how people don’t understand Narry. Like, to me, Narry is Narry – they’re wild, they’re thriving, they’ve been totally on fire and entirely obsessed with each other, and I don’t understand how people don’t see that. I do have to point out though, that very few people actually thing Narry is real. Shipping Narry is more about simply enjoying their friendship, and fonding over how fond Niall and Harry are of each other. Sometimes, when Narry is acting exceptionally wild, it’s about how good of a couple they would make, if it were real. That being said, here’s a post I made when someone once tried to tell me how “unrealistic” Narry was.

But since you’ve asked so nicely for me help you understand, and since that post (and those photos) is fairly old, I’ll show you some more recent things.

anonymous asked:

Hi to you, can you explain me what does a music so full of hatred as black metal have to do with nature? I personally think that a music that IS capable of planting such crap into your mentality shouldn't exist. You can't deny it when you take a look at the fans.

I can easily deny it when I take a look at the fans, because I am one of them. And I am probably not exactly the kind of person you’d think of when hearing the word “hatred”. And I know of a huge lot of people listening to black metal who are not unlike me.

You see, nature is a force. A raw and mighty force that is full of flaws, full of difference. It is a force that evokes emotion in the person that pays attention. If you just pass it by without paying attention, you may not notice it. A lot of people do not notice this. “I am more of an urban person”, “nature is boring”, “it’s just a forest…” and so on. But if you just let it unfold its impression on you, your view on this will most likely change. When you pay attention to the details, to the atmosphere, to the simple effect nature can have on you, you will feel overwhelmed and begin to love it. You probably now all this.

Now let’s have a look at black metal. Notice first: There are countless different variations of black metal. The bands differ in their message, the atmosphere they create, the feelings they evoke, the intention and concept behind the music and their overall sound. Black metal has to be hateful, evil and satanic? No way. Sorry to disappoint you. You probably didn’t do any kind of research then. Just as nature, black metal is a raw force. Full of flaws and difference. It evokes emotions in the careful listener. Again, you will find a huge amount of people who are either not interested it or find it as awful as you. But this kind of people probably never really paid attention to it. Never researched the different kinds of black metal. Never carefully listened to it and let it take its effect on you.

Yes, there is black metal that puts a lot of hatred into their music. But have you ever asked yourself: “Why?” - Music is one of the mightiest tools to express yourself. I’ve been working with quite a lot of black metal musicians over the past years and I got to know their reasons to create their music. Many of those whose music you would probably label as “hateful”, do indeed not write their music to motivate hatred, but to deal with the hatred and anger they feel during their daily life. The hatred and anger that is forced upon them, that they others show towards them or that they just encounter during their days. Music is a great way to deal with these emotions. And black metal is a raw and emotional kind of music and processing negative feelings into music instead of letting it out on others is a good thing to do. And it works the other way around too, and this is the exact opposite of what you are stating: listening to “aggressive” and “hateful” music can help you deal with these exact emotions. With aggression and hate. You live these out by listening to the music, it’s a good outlet for them.

Of course there are always black sheep. They exist everywhere, regardless of their taste in music. Those who use their music to indeed spread their hate and hateful ideology. But, oh, believe me, they do not only exist in black metal, but everywhere. Yes, it might even be the case that the percentage in black metal is higher, due to its rawness. But everyone can put their own message into any kind of music. But as I said, there are so many different kinds of black metal.

And here we come to another part about the connection between nature and black metal. There are so many kinds that draw their inspiration directly from nature. As I mentioned before, if you listen to the “right” kinds of black metal and you let yourself in for it, you can feel how the music evokes emotions that are similar to the ones that nature evoke in you. It is music that creates certain landscapes before your inner eye. it can be the rawness of nature put into sound.

You have to know that black metal is a very diverse genre. Like most genres are. So there are a few popular rock bands whose music sound quite hateful and so are their lyrics? Doesn’t mean that all rock bands are like this. Every musician has their own intention, their own reason to make music, their own thoughts, emotions and concepts they put into music. And there is a rising number of bands with a more atmospheric approach on black metal and they are, as I stated before, deeply influenced by the force of nature. Due to the similarities I mentioned as well. Due to the high amount of emotions you can express with black metal, from utter hatred and aggression over a distinct feeling of nostalgia or melancholy to bitter sadness and depression. Deep and strong emotions that every human being has to deal with during their lifetime. And of course simply the musical taste of the musician, as this is something that often just cannot be explained.

So far for this approach on an explanation. But there are more aspects. To give another short example: To many people nature represents freedom. Nature is not dependent on anyone, nature stands for itself and finds perfection with all its flaws. It can be incredibly mysterious and mankind has always been fascinated by it. Again you will find similarities to black metal. It is a music genre of its own kind, quite unlike everything else. It represents the freedom of expression, away from the standards that people tend to press themselves into. It does not know boundaries. And neither does nature. It just goes its way, not caring about all the people who try to keep it back and press it into forms they think are nice, pretty and uncomplicated. But that’s just not how things go and nature shows it to us. Black metal picks this up too.

You can find so much more about it than just “it sounds hateful, so it spreads hate and it should be forbidden”, as this statement is simply wrong. It’s always a good thing to do some research on things that at first seem repelling, before judging it. It does not mean that you have to like it. Everyone has got their own taste and that’s a very good thing and nobody should be judged for it. I just want advice you to be a bit more open-minded. That is all. Not only in regard of this question. It is just very obvious that you judged a thing you barely know anything about. And mostly it is the case that if you do it with one thing, you do it with a lot of others too, as it’s just the easy way of dealing with things. Just don’t do this, please. Thank you.
