Cas is angry.

But that’s not exactly right, is it? Anger would mean that he wants Meg to stop, that he’s uncomfortable with what she’s doing. Anger would mean that he isn’t enjoying it, and that she’s doing something wrong.

And Cas loves what she’s doing.

kastle prompt: after the explosion scene, frank takes karen back to his and micro’s hideout. possibly a shower scene (doesn’t have to be sexual) where frank is comforting karen because she took another life while looking out for frank as they were making their escape.

Thank you for this prompt! It’s the last one I managed to write pre-Punisher, haha, and one that I had a lot of fun with. I hope you like bonus!Micro in here, too, and that it is some of what you were looking for me to write.. hope you’ll enjoy!!

Karen Page crumbles on the passenger’s seat of the van and he almost drives them straight into the goddamn lamppost.

In hindsight, he’s not at all sure how he managed to get them from the inner city’s crowdedness to Micro’s more remote location without steering them both straight into a hospital’s care. He’s been looking over at her more than he’s been paying attention to the road. Keeps himself grounded by causing himself pain. Has wrapped his hands so tightly around the steering wheel that he thinks he’s going to start bleeding from his palms any damn second now.

She’s still breathing. He thinks he has checked her pulse more times than he can count, pressing his fingertips to her neck and wrist alternately as if one of her pulse points is lying to him. He doesn’t trust his own judgment. Doesn’t trust himself to make the right call, not when it’s his shit-out-of-luck timing that got them into this mess in the first place.

Draw me Like one of your French Girls... Part 1

This fic is dedicated to @yunyin who was a big part of bringing it about in the first place ^_^

(Warning some spoilers for ML Season 2- (Just the stuff we knew during the hiatus nothing important from the new episodes)

“Listen furball, I am ten times as sexy as you are. That is just a fact. People would pay to see pictures of me.”

“People DO pay to see pictures of me,” Chat shot back.

“What?”

“Never mind,” he grumbled, “the point is that I am obviously the sexier of the two of us.”

“Guys, I know this is a slow patrol night but you are giving me a headache,” Rena Rougue sighed, dropping down onto the platform and sprawling onto her stomach against the cool metal of the tower.

“Wait,” Chat said with a terrifying grin, “Rena. My dear, darling, friend.”

“Oh this can’t end well.”

“You are a fox of impeccable taste are you not?”

“Maybe.”

“And you are an excellent judge of both male and female attractiveness as well, are you not?”

“Ladybug is the hottest out of all of you,” she smirked, not bothering to get up.

“Yes, that is a given, but the point is-”

“The point is that I could pull off sexy far better than this mangy stray,” Bee interrupted.

“Could not.”

“Will you two please just stop fighting, it’s been too hot to deal with this level of stupid,” Rena sighed.

“It’s not stupid, my honor is at stake!” Bee huffed. “If you want us to stop then tell him that I clearly would be better suited to being a sex icon than he would.”

“Foxy lady, please tell Bee that she is clearly pollinating the wrong flower.”

Rena groaned. Clearly there would be no reasoning with the two of them until this had been hashed out.

I wish you would write an outsider POV Sterek, maybe from their neighbor's POV?

This is embarrassing.

Holy, fuckmuffins, this is embarrassing. She should not do this. She should turn around and go back home. She should just be at home. Forever. She can order groceries from Amazon and socialize with people over the internet and she thinks she could be very happy to just live at home. It would be fun.

Also, she would be alive. Because she is not sure she will be after all is said and done.

She gets to their door and then seriously considers just turning around. It would make her a fundamentally bad person but she could be okay with that.

Ugh.

No she can’t.

She takes a deep breath, wishes that Jenny wasn’t at her father’s this weekend because maybe a cute little four year old would help, and then knocks anyway. On her next door neighbor’s door.

It had to be her next dooor neighbor. Someone who she will probably have to see again.

And, of course, Murder Man opens it. He is already glaring at her.

He is going to kill her

“Hello?” he asks and she realizes she has just been standing there. Staring. Which, like fair, he is gorgeous but mostly she’s staring because it is just now occurring to her that she should have told someone where she is going before just coming over to share this bad news.

“H-hi,” she says finally. “My name is Tammy and I live in number 406–right next door actually and I-I’m so sorry but I’ve just… I’ve just scratched your car.”

The Arrangement (pt 9)

“Is the child even mine, Y/N?”

You stare at him wide-eyed. Did he really just ask that? You felt like you couldn’t breathe in that moment. Jimin was actually being serious. He had actually thought that low of you. He had doubted your love and sincerity towards him.
His faith in you had shattered and in turn, he had shattered your heart.

You turned away from him, unable to look at him anymore. Jimin scoffed as you turned away, not noticing the single tear that fell from your eyes. You sat there in silence for another minute. Jimin was still fuming. He wanted answers from you and he wanted them now.

Just as he was about to start yelling again, you cut him off.

“You really want to know what’s going on between me and Tae?” you said with a straight face, wiping away the tears in your eyes. You take out your keys from your purse and push them into Jimin’s hands. “Go inside the house”

Jimin eyed the keys in his hands curiously. “Don’t avoid this conversation by telling me to go into the fucking house” he sneered at you.

“Dammit Jimin just go into the house!” you almost yelled back. Jimin had finally noticed the pained expression on your face, but he didn’t care. He got out of the car and slammed the door behind him. You too had gotten out of the car, and walked lifelessly behind Jimin to the front door.

Jimin managed to find the house keys amongst the many keychains you had and finally put the key in the door. As he tried to unlock the door, he noticed your hands in fists as you tried to control the shaking. You had wiped away your tears, but it was quite obvious that you were upset.

Jimin finally unlocked the door and opened it to find a rather dark house. You both would usually leave at least a small lamp on so that you weren’t met with a dark house, but no such lights were on today. Jimin’s frustration only grew as he struggled to find the light switch near the entrance. Soon though, he found the switch and turned it on.

“SURPRISE!!!”

Jimin jumped back from the sudden burst of noise. Jimin looked around the house, only to find it full. Full of his family, friends, and various decorations. There in front of Jimin stood all of his favorite things. The most important people in his life and some of his friends he hadn’t seen in a very long time. There in front of him stood some family from out of the country that he had also missed seeing. There in front of him stood hundreds upon hundreds of decorations in all his favorite colors. Ballons were floating on the ceiling and banners and streamers filled the house. There was something childish yet classy about it and Jimin loved it. Jimin couldn’t even begin to take it all in. He just stood there and smiled at everyone like a fool, totally forgetting about the whole ordeal that happened in the car.

Suddenly, a group of guys surrounded him and messed with his hair and gave him a few light hits and punches. “Happy Birthday, Jimin!” they said in turns. “Were you surprised??” asked Jungkook.

“How do you like it??” ask Namjoon.

“We spent like hours with the decorations he better like it” said Hoseok.

“Hours? Well me and Y/N spent weeks, no months, planning this whole thing. We literally went shopping every week because she thought of something new to get. You must have known, right Jimin? Like weren’t you the least bit suspicious?” asked Taehyung as he threw his arm around Jimin’s shoulders.

And that’s when it hit him. That’s when he remembered what he had just accused you of and Jimin’s heart sank. What had he just done.

He turned around quickly, finally facing you with his eyes wide. You gave him the smallest of smiles and Jimin noticed your lips trembling as you tried your hardest to hold back tears and break down. “Happy Birthday, Jimin” you say in almost a whisper, but he could still hear it.

He tries to reach out for you, but you walk away into the sea of guests. and before he can try again, he is greeted by more guests, blocking him entirely.

You try your hardest to smile and greet guests, but you eventually excuse yourself to change into something a little comfortable. You all but run into your shared bedroom with Jimin and lock yourself into the bathroom. You finally let the tears fall freely and you cover your mouth to hold back the sobs. You don’t know how long you stood there in the bathroom, but by now you were numb. You can hear the party at full swing outside, with loud music and people talking. Surely no one would miss your presence. You realize you can’t stay in the bathroom forever though so you will yourself to get through just tonight. You wipe off all the tear-stained makeup and wash your face with warm water. But your eyes are still kind of red. You walk into your side of the closet and try to find something more suitable for the party.

Jimin is finally free of most of the guests at this point and begins his search for you again. He had seen you talking to a few people, but that was at least half an hour ago.

“Sweetheart, Happy Birthday” Jimin hears. His mom and dad walk up to him, arms open for a hug. Jimin gives them a warm smile, despite his mind being focused on finding you.

“Thank you” he says as he returns the hug.

“Jimin, this is your last birthday as just a married man! Come next birthday, you’ll be a father too” Jimins father said. He was probably more excited than Jimin for the baby to arrive. He couldn’t wait to spoil his grandchild.

“That’s right Jimin! The baby will be here for your next birthday darling” his mother chimes. “Enjoy this while it lasts son. You and Y/N will have your hands full this time next year” she continues.

“Uh.. speaking of Y/N, have you seen her?” Jimin asks nervously.

“Oh, I believe I heard her saying that she was going to go change into something more comfortable. But she’s been missing for a while, Why don’t you go change and make sure she’s ok too sweetheart?” Jimins mom says as she practically pushes him in the direction of their shared room.

Jimin walks nervously towards their room, not knowing how to approach you and beg for your forgiveness. Why did he ever doubt you? The look on your face when you had just wished him happy birthday haunted his mind.

He opens the door to your shared room and to his surprise, it is also fully decorated. There are balloons dancing across the ceiling and twinkle lights around the room. Jimin walked further into the room sitting on the bed as he tried to take it all in. He noticed the light on inside the bathroom and realized you were inside. He looked around the room and realized just how much you had planned. You really had gone the extra mile.

Jimin finally notices a wrapped present on his nightstand. It was beautifully wrapped with a bouncy bow on the top. He had no doubt in his mind that you wrapped it.

He carefully ripped the wrapping paper off, only to be met with a white box. He slid the box open and Jimin was shocked. Inside laid the childhood book he had you about all those many nights ago, The Velveteen Rabbit. The book had been published many times, but Jimin had initially owned a very old copy, dating back to around the 50′s. When he tried to find the same book, he couldn’t find the same copy or anyone willing to sell. But the book that laid in front of him was something beyond his imagination.

He opened up the front cover and looked at the first page. The publishing date of this book dated back to 1922, meaning this was the very first edition. This must have cost a fortune, let alone impossible to find.

Inside the book also had a small card. Jimin took the card out and placed the book on the side of the bed. He carefully opened up the card to find your small and beautiful handwriting on a pretty birthday card.

Dearest Jimin,

Happy Birthday, sweets! I thank god for blessing me with you everyday. And I guess I’m also thanking your parents for what they did 22 years and 9 months ago. ;)

 I know that we didn’t get into this marriage by choice, but I can happily say now that I always, always will pick you. I love you so, so much. I know I’ve been busy these last couple of weeks, but I hope you finally understand why and hopefully this all makes up for it. Did you like your gift? You really weren’t kidding when you said it was hard to find! I hope one day in the future, we can read this book to our child and maybe they will love it as much as you do. You’re going to be a wonderful father, Jimin. I just know it. I can’t wait to meet our little baby in a few months! Ok, I’m rambling…in a letter. Anyways, love you baby. Hope you have a wonderful day <3

Love,

Y/n

Jimins hands trembled as he read the letter. How could he have doubted your love for him? How could he have been so stupid? Just then, he heard the door of your bathroom and you emerge, seconds later. Jimin stands up and meets your eyes for the first time in a while.

It’s obvious that you’ve been crying but you tried to cover it well. But he could still tell. The glow from your eyes were long gone. You look at Jimin with a blank expression, as if you had just seen right through him and it sends a shiver down his spine and it scared him.

You break eye contact and start to make your way to your door but Jimin stops you as he grabs your wrists. “Baby I- I’m so sor-” he starts. But before he can finish, you yank your hand out of his and walk out the door, leaving Jimin alone in the room.

Jimin stood frozen in the room as the door slammed shut after you walked out. How was he going to make it up to you?

You had returned to the party and Jimin soon followed behind you but you had already started mingling with guests again. You refused to even look in Jimin’s direction. If you even felt him coming closer to you, you would make the effort to move away.

Jimin noticed you avoiding him and it was hard to get to you. There were so many guests! But Jimin wasn’t the only one who noticed the change. Taehyung also noticed the second you tried to excuse yourself to go change. You seemed really upset and it was easy to see that it was because something had happened between you and Jimin. Though it wasn’t in his place to pry, he felt bad that you were so upset on the day you spent the last 2 months planning.

Taehyung had found you amongst the crowd and the people you were talking to had excused themselves. You gave Taehyung a small smile, but even he could tell how forced it was. “hey…you okay?” he asks slowly, hoping not to get anyone else’s attention.

Your smile slowly fades only for you to give him a faker smile seconds later. “I’m fine, Tae. Why?” you say, hoping not to discuss anything at the moment. You knew that if you talked about it, you would end up crying again.

“H-have you been crying? I don’t mean to pry, but is everything ok between you and Jimin? I just don’t want you to be upset today after all you planning for it!” he says.

But before you could answer, you felt arms snake around your waist. “Nothing is going on, Tae. Don’t worry about. And thanks again man for throwing me this party. You’ve planned it so well with Y/n” Jimin says, showing up out of the blue. You look up at Jimin, surprised that you didn’t see him coming. Both the anger and sadness filled you up again. Taehyung could practically see all the tension in the air.

You pulled Jimin’s arms around your waist, rather forcefully. “Excuse me boys, but I’m going to set up the food” you say as you give Taehyung another fake smile and walk towards the kitchen, not even giving Jimin a glance.”

“Dude what the hell happened?” Taehyung asks Jimin, pulling him to a corner.

“Nothing, just drop it” says Jimin, growing frustrated.

“I usually would, but not today. Do you you have any idea how much time and effort your wife put into planning tonight? She’s been excited about this for months. She has poured her love into every step of planning, and yet here she looks like she’s going to breakdown at any second. Look, I get that it’s your birthday and you don’t want to be listening to this right now, but whatever it is that happened between you two, I hope you can make up. You’re my best friend, Jimin. But Y/N is a good friend now too” Taehyung explains.

Jimin looked at Taehyung with a pained expression. He knew he had hurt you badly. It was evident in your eyes. But Jimin didn’t want to tell his best friend that just moments before you of cheating with him. Come to think of it, it was stupid that he even doubted you. He should have known his best friend would never betray him like that. And more importantly, he should have known you would have never betrayed him like that. He should have never doubted you. But he couldn’t tell Taehyung, at least not now. “It’s none of your business Taehyung, so drop it. Whatever it is, it’s between me and Y/n, so stay out of it” Jimin says before walking away, not even seeing Taehyung’s hurt expression.

Jimin kept trying to get you alone after that multiple times, but you evaded him at all costs. It was hard to enjoy the party when he could only focus on you and making things right with you. Before he could attempt talking to you again though, he was called to cut a cake. Everyone starting singing happy birthday and people were pushing you to go stand next to Jimin. You stood there awkwardly as people were singing and Jimin kept looking at you. Finally the song was over and Jimin blew out the candles. People then started to chant “Kiss” in hopes of you to kiss the birthday boy. You kept trying to wave it off, but it seemed like no one was having it. Jimin looked at you hopefully. He didn’t care that everyone else was in the room. He just wanted to kiss you senseless and show you just how sorry he was and how much he had loved you.

You turned to Jimin, and any smile you had one was quickly gone and Jimin’s heart sank. “Happy Birthday, Jimin” you said quietly as you kissed him on the cheek really quickly before turning to face everyone else. Jimin tried to keep his smile up, but people could kind of sense the tension at this point.

You almost never called him Jimin anymore. It was always “sweets” or some other cute nickname you would come up with it. So when you use his real name, he knew it was serious.

The rest of the party went rather slowly for both you and Jimin. People had started drinking and everyone was having their fun. Jimin tried to make the most of the party that you had worked for and decided that you needed your space for now. You on the other hand were just trying to make it through the rest of the night. Fortunately for you though, Taehyung and the rest of his friends had kept you company for the majority of the time.

 Pretty soon though, people filed out of the house. Though you had wanted the party to end, you were anxious now. You realized that after everyone would leave, you would be alone with Jimin and you really didn’t want that. You anxiously waited as one by one, the guests started to leave. Eventually your parents and Jimin’s parents were leaving too

On their way out, Jimin’s mom pulled Jimin to the side. “I don’t know what happened between you two, but don’t keep a pregnant woman mad at you for too long, son. It’s not too good to keep the mother of your child angry at you. Trust me when I say your father can vouch for that” she says. Jimin gives her a small smile as she too leaves. Maybe you were just this mad because you were hormonal? He just needed to get you alone and he could work things out.

Soon enough, there were just a few people left and they were all starting getting ready to leave too. One by one, they filed out, and you were getting more antsy by the second. One friend of Jimin’s though was quite drunk. His girlfriend struggled to even get him walking properly and since she was far smaller than him, she needed help getting him to the car. “Hey birthday boy, sorry to ask you of this, but could you help me get this drunk ass to our car? I don’t think I can support his weight” she asked.

As much as Jimin wanted to just kick the remaining people out of his house, he knew he should help his friend. He turned to look back at you as you began to clean some things in the kitchen. “Don’t go anywhere, I’ll be back in a second. I need to talk to you” he said before grabbing his friend by the shoulders and heading out the door. You said your goodbyes and then, it was just you in the house. You swallowed the lump in your throat and decided that you could clean everything else in the morning. You were both physically and emotionally drained.

Before turning off the lights in the room, you took one more glance at all the decorations. “I hope he liked it..” you said out loud.

Jimin practically threw his friend into the car before running back to the house. He yanked the door open, only to find the house somewhat dark again. He ran to his room, only to find the bathroom lights on. He was relieved that you were still here. For a moment, he thought you had left.

How was he going to make this up to you? What words would make things right again? He called you a slut, he said he regretted marrying you. He asked if the child was even his, and he could practically see your heart break. He sat on the bed, running his hands through has hair nervously.

Soon, you had finished your night time routine and you hadn’t even realized that you had started to cry again. You came out of the bathroom with your hand placed protectively over your stomach. The only comfort you had right now was the little one inside you. Oh how you just wanted to hold you baby soon.

You jumped a little when you saw Jimin, not expecting him. You decided that you didn’t want to be in the same room as him for a while, so you walked to your side of the bed and grabbed your pillow while Jimin was trying to form the right words. Jimin noticed your tear stained face and he felt his heart drop at how sad you looked in that moment. You just look so drained, and he was the reason behind it all.

“Y/N I’m so– wait what are you doing” he asked as you grabbed your pillow. You didn’t reply and instead you just made your way back to your old room, thankful that a bed was still there.

Jimin was surprised for a second and didn’t register what was happening. Recently, you had been saying that you found it hard to sleep without him there and he felt the same too. You always snuggled up to him at the end of the day and now, you didn’t even want to be in the same room? After a hot second, Jimin followed you.

“Wait, don’t just leave. Y/N I’m sorry, ok? Just look at me baby, please” he was pleading as he followed behind you like a lost dog. But you didnt reply and you were crying again. You practically ran the last few steps and before Jimin could reach you, you closed the door on his face and locked the door. You layed down on the bed and tried to calm your heart. You were so hurt, so tired. You just wanted to sleep.

Jimin on the other hand was pounding on your door, not wanting you to sleep alone and in pain. He needed you as much as you needed him to sleep. And more than anything, he wanted your love for him again.

“Baby, please” he said. “I’m sorry ok? I didn’t mean the things I said. Please, let me see you ok? Let me hold you tonight and we can talk through everything in the morning” he was begging. But you never opened the door, and Jimin knew to give up till the sun rose again. He was going to get you to forgive him, one way or another. No more mistakes, he thought to himself. No. More. Mistakes.

13x02: Dean is John

Fairy Goddabb (and team) coming at us, waving his wand and textualising that Dean is John in a season all about fathers… Forget hail Mary’s I’m giving hail Dabb’s this year.

In 13x01 we got Grieving!Dean, canonically upset and nihilistic over the loss of Cas and Mary and the others. First every time though was Cas.

In 13x02 we are now seeing the fall out from this. Namely that he is mirroring both John’s life long grief over the loss of Mary, the grief that led him to act towards Sam and Dean in a way that led them to have so many issues that they are now overcoming, and also mirroring season 1 Sam through his grief over Jess.

We have already seen Dean drop to his knees next to Cas’ body just as Sam did at Jess’ grave and Mary did over John’s body and we had the scene where Sam pulled Dean back from Cas just as Dean pulled Sam back from Jess.

I then said here that I was expecting at some point mirroring of the scene from 1x02 where Dean offers to let Sam drive to take his mind off Jess (check!) and references to Dean not sleeping (check! - the “you were hallucinating sheep” conversation) but to get them both in 02 was fantastic :)

x x  Honestly, I want to keep a checklist of these things… I am so overjoyed!

Next is 1x04′s:

Sam “I’ve gotta find Jessica’s killer, it’s the only thing I can think about”
Dean “All that anger, you can’t keep it burning over the long haul, it’s gonna kill you”.
Sam “How do you do it?”
Dean “We help others, it makes it more bearable…and killing as many sons of bitches as we can”

Perhaps next week? In 13x03? When they go out to help someone else on a “normal” MOTW hunt? Who knows, I can hope. I can’t help NOT hope given we’ve been given so much else so far on my wishlist in such timely order.

So anyway, yes, it’s established that Dean is GRIEVING. He is a MESS. He’s also perfectly mirroring both Sam in season 1 after Jess’ death and John his whole life after Mary’s death.

I wonder what could possibly be the link here? Hm.

*we just don’t know*

So then yes, Dean is mirroring John. THIS IS NOT TO SAY DEAN IS LIKE JOHN. You can mirror someone without being exactly LIKE them. Look at Jack mirroring all of TFW. It’s just a way to expose a storyline and emotional motivations for someone’s actions. OK? I am not saying that Dean is John. It’s just a link to the story of the past to show the story of now and how parts are mirrored to be ADDRESSED and SUBVERTED.

This then makes total sense when we look at Dean’s interactions with Jack. Yes he is harsh and struggling with him right now, the cause of Cas’ death, the potential big bad, because he’s grieving and a mess. Just as John was.

THIS IS A SEASON THAT WE ALL SAID WOULD BE ALL ABOUT FATHERS.

There is going to be so much symbolism around John in this season and frankly seeing Dean mirroring him makes me so HYPED because this means we really should see some amazing exposition of Dean’s feelings towards John and himself in relation to John and I cannot help but hope for CLOSURE on this now.

Then we have Jack who is a huge mirror for Sam. Sam who was the reason Mary died, though of course it not through his own fault. Mirror wise, Dean is John and Cas is Mary, Jack is Sam.

Original story: John/Mary - Sam.
Season 13: Dean/Cas - Jack.

Still with me? OK.

So now we need to see this subverted. The ORIGINAL STORY.

Where Dean and Sam’s lives were ruined and turned upside down by all this, by the yellow eyed demon and Lucifer’s plan, by Heaven’s orders.

The terrible original story of how everything started seems now to be mirrored and subverted into a (potential) end (but at least a later story) where everything is ‘fixed’.

In the original story everyone was manipulated. Mary and John were manipulated into falling in love (versus Dean and Cas who fell in love DESPITE Heaven and everything against them). Sam and Dean were fated to be the vessels of Michael and Lucifer but they chose free will.

Everyone tried to manipulate Sam and Dean down a certain path. Their whole lives were a manipulation up to the point they chose Free Will.

Now JACK has to choose FREE WILL thanks to their guidance and help. Through mirroring them and their story and through them helping him choose the righteous and free path.

He has to be the catalyst and mirror to subvert this story, to allow the metaphorical John and Mary (Dean and Cas) to LIVE and have a happy ending. For the metaphorical Sam (himself) to NOT grow up into the demon blood arc, and for the real Sam to move past this, accept the past and move onto a brighter future, to let go of his guilt over it by helping Jack past this too. For Jack to do just as Sam did do in the end in season 5 and fight back thanks to support from his family.

Jack’s story is a chance to subvert all the horrors of the start of the story for Dean and Sam, but first their story has to be mirrored for this to work.

This is what we are seeing happening. This is the set up.

The sound of the phone ringing woke you up. Startled, you ran a hand through your hair and looked around before registering where you were. Home. In bed. Things were normal again, right?

Wrong. It was two a.m and the phone was ringing. Why did your parents agree to get you your own line? You quickly flicked on your bedside lamp and then picked up the receiver. “Hello?” You mumbled barely coherently, slowly sitting up in bed.

“Y/N?” It was Steve. You could tell by the way he pronounced your name. Just slightly different than everyone else did. Like it had more meaning coming from his mouth.

You let out a long yawn. “Yeah, Steve. It’s me. What’s going on? Why are you calling me at-“ you glanced over at the clock on your night stand. “Two thirteen in the morning?”

“I haven’t been able to sleep at all,” he said, and you could hear the tiredness in his voice, all groggy and deeper than usual. “Let me apologize. Let me make it up to you. I fucked up, okay-“

“Fucked up is putting it lightly,” you cut him off, your words sharp like daggers. “I don’t want to talk to you about it. Especially not now.”

Steve sighed on the other line. You could almost picture him running a hand through his hair. You hated that you knew him that well. “Go to sleep, Harrington,” You said, and didn’t wait for a response before hanging up the phone.

You tried to go back to sleep but your mind kept drifting back to a few days ago, when everything starting going to shit.

Earned It- Loki One Shot

Pairing: Loki x Reader

Prompt: When Thor brings Loki to stay with the Avengers, the team decides to prove just how much the God of Mischief has changed by assigning you to earn his trust; but you end up earning more than that. NO RAGNAROK SPOILERS!

Word Count: 3700

A/N: Ok so I saw Thor Ragnarok when it first came out and I absolutely loved it. For some reason, I fell in love with Loki. Not gonna lie, I feel like Loki deserves redemption and the MCU is not giving him that at all (which is why I disliked him in previous movies). Before Ragnarok, I only liked Loki because he was funny and Tom Hiddleston is beautiful. So, yeah, with this new found love for Loki, I have decided to expand my characters by adding him to the list of people I will write of. Fair warning: this is not a good imagine at all.

~~~
“But why me?” You let out an exasperated whine, “He knows me the least.”
“It’s not just that.” Steve nodded, “You weren’t there when he tried taking over the world, so you’re the best candidate.”
“So what? I’m chosen just because he’s never tried to kill me directly before?”
“Basically. Plus, you’re a hot, young girl that Loki would totally mess with.” Tony added, making Natasha hit him over the back of his head and you roll your eyes. “I’m just saying that you have more assets than I do when it comes to gaining the God of Mischief’s trust.”
“Thanks, Tony.” You replied in a flat tone.
“Will you do it, Y/N? It’s the best way to see if he has changed and if we can actually trust him.” Steve said.
“If I’m our only hope, then sure, but, I swear, if Loki tries anything on me, Thor, you will no longer have a brother.”
“Get in line.” Clint laughed dryly.
“Yeah, you’ll have to wait your turn for that.” Bruce said.
“Hey, now, no one will be killing my brother. He has changed.” Thor said. When the mighty God of Thunder first approached the Avengers about his brother staying in the compound with them, they were all quick to say no. Thor then went into detail about Loki’s redeeming actions while his brother walked into the room. After putting away their drawn weapons, Tony locked Loki in one of the cells, so that the team could discuss the issue at hand. That’s when Tony, Natasha, and Steve came up with the brilliant idea of using you as bait. You, the newest Avenger that has never even formally met Loki before, were chosen as the person to draw him out. You would somehow gain his trust and learn whether or not he has truly changed. If he never trusted you, then he was the same Loki as years ago; if he trusted you, then he had changed.
With your decision made, the Avengers left their meeting room to the cells. You all stood before Loki as he beamed mischievously at the sight before him. Tony opened the cell up and allowed the God to step out.
“Alright, reindeer games, we’ve got some rules that you must comply to- if you are to stay here.” Tony stated.
“Ah, rules- don’t you just love them and the chaos they bring?” Loki replied and Steve scolded Natasha as she began to curl her fists.
“Look,” Steve said, stepping up, “You’re not allowed to leave the compound unless one of us agrees to go with you; you cannot create any chaos inside or outside of the compound; you’re not allowed anywhere near the ships or weaponry-”
“I get it. I’m under house arrest. I’ve been in trouble before.” He stated, “Now, where is my bedroom? I’d like to catch up on some sleep.”
“Follow me, brother.” Thor said, leading Loki up the stairs as everyone dismantled from their protective stances. You watched as the two brother headed up the spiral staircase and you caught how Loki peered over his shoulder at you. You were quick to turn your head and invest yourself in a conversation with Steve.
~~~

That night, Loki did not come downstairs for dinner. Thor offered to take him a plate, but you insisted on doing it- that way, you could introduce yourself properly to him. Thor, knowing your intentions well, allowed you to take his place in serving his brother. You stood outside of Loki’s room and knocked lightly on the door, holding his plate of food with the other hand.

“Come in.” Loki said dryly. You slowly opened the door to find him sitting on his bed with a disinterested look in his eyes.

“I brought you dinner.” You gestured to the plate of steak and potatoes.

“I’m not hungry.” He replied and you shook your head with a laugh.

“You haven’t eaten all day. Please, eat this. Sam makes the best steaks.” You held it out to him and placed the book in his hands on his lap, before taking the plate.

“Sam?”

“Yeah, Sam, he’s the Falcon. He’s super cool and there are no steaks that compare to his- well, actually there’s a really nice restaurant in Upper Manhattan that has the best steaks. Sam’s are still amazing.”

“I’m dying to try it.” Loki replied sarcastically as he poked it with his fork.

“I’m Y/N, by the way.” You said, holding a hand out to him.

“Loki, but you already knew that.” He shook your hand almost timidly. He felt that there was something off about you- why were you so kind compared to the others? He expected Thor to be the only one to treat him as a normal person- not some random Midgardian that he’s never met.

“What book are you reading?”

“Excuse me?” Loki asked and you nodded toward the stray book on his bed. “It’s just a story my mother used to tell me. It’s a part of Norse mythology, as you humans call it.”

“It sounds interesting. I’ve always enjoyed learning about mythology.” You said, genuinely.

“Well, as good of a book it is, it does get boring after a while. I should have brought more books with me.”

“You know, Loki, we’ve got a library.”

“A library?” Loki asked, his whole stance perking up at the word.

“Yeah, I’d offer to show you it tonight, but I’ve got dishes to do. I’ll show it to you tomorrow.” You paused and then nodded, “I’ll see you later then. Good night, Loki.”

“Good night, YN.” Loki replied as you quickly retreated from his room. He looked at the plate in his hands and set it on his bedside table. He picked up his book and began to read it once more. He couldn’t help but think about you and how you were so intriguing to him. As much as he’d appreciate you showing him the library tomorrow, Loki got up and made it his mission to find the library on his own.

~~~
The next day, you went to find Loki in his room, but found that it was empty. You then decided that the library would be the next best place to look, knowing that he had shown a level of interest in it. You found him as expected; he was comfortably lounging in a chair with his nose stuck in a different book.
“I see you found Steve’s Shakespeare.” You said with a short laugh. Loki jumped, startled at your sudden presence. He lowered the book and looked over at you as you stood in between two shelves.
“It is quite entertaining to read.” He replied, glancing down at Macbeth in his hands.
“I know. It’s one of my favorite Shakespeare plays.” You nodded.
“If you’ll forgive me, I’d like to continue it.”
“I’ll be quiet, but I want to do some reading of my own.” You replied. You searched in the shelves for a book as Loki continued his reading.
This happened once everyday for the next two weeks. You would enter the library to read in peace, and Loki would already be sitting at a chair by the fire with a different book in his hand than the day before. You would both make small talk for a few minutes when you arrived. You felt, over this time period, that your feelings for the God were growing, and growing romantic. You also felt that there had been no progress on your part- Loki still treated you as if you were just another Avenger, as if you were on the same level as his brother for trust.
“Just give it some more time.” Natasha told you as you complained to her in her room.
“Time won’t do anything, Nat. Nothing is working. We just sit in a library and read as communication.” You let out an exasperated sigh and she shrugged. You watched as she focused on painting her toenails a light shade of purple almost more than she focused on your complaints.
“At least he bears being in the same room as you. He makes every meal incredibly awkward.” She replied. You remembered back to just this morning- Loki was silent, like he always was, and, as soon as he finished eating, he left the room. His presence filled the entire room with tension.
“That’s one thing, though.” You huffed.
“Aren’t you usually reading by now?” Natasha asked, peering at the clock on her wall.
“I’m quitting this mission. It’s stupid and it’s pointless. The guy has been here for two weeks and he’s done nothing. Isn’t that reason enough to trust him?”
“Look who you’re talking to and think who you’re talking about- guess again.” Natasha laughed. She had been on so many missions where she was undercovers for weeks, and Loki most likely had no problem with committing to fooling someone for long periods of time.
“That doesn’t matter. What I mean to say is this whole idea is corrupt and I’m done with it.”
“Corrupt? As in it isn’t good on Loki?”
“That’s not what I-”
“Ohhhh,” Natasha let out sinister laugh followed by a knowing smirk, “You like him, don’t you?”
“Don’t be ridiculous.” You tried to defend yourself.
“Sweetheart, you can lie to yourself and to him all you want, but you cannot lie to me. You are totally into him!”
“Fine, so what if I am? Why are you so happy about it?” You asked, referring to her blatant hatred of him.
“I don’t agree with you, but I think you liking him is cute. Maybe you could end up changing him.” She shrugged hopefully, “Plus, if he hurts you, it gives me even more motivation to kill him.”
“Like you need anymore of that.” You said, making her chuckle.
“Fine, if you’re giving up this mission, then you can go make me a sandwich. I’m starving.” Natasha said and you playfully rolled your eyes at her.
“Turkey or ham?” You asked as you headed towards her bedroom door.
“Turkey please!” She called from her spot.
You left her room and went straight to the kitchen to make up her snack. You finished her sandwich and then decided to make one for yourself. Just as you were about to top off your own with the final piece of bread, you heard a voice, announcing the presence of someone else in the room.
“Could you make me one too, please?” It was Loki and the sincerity in his voice was something almost unusual. He seemed quieter and mellower in his demeanor today.
“Would you like turkey or ham?” You asked as he stepped into the kitchen completely and began to watch you work.
“Either will be fine.” He said, “You didn’t come to the library today.”
“Oh, you noticed that.” You stated, awkwardly fumbling with the sliced meat before you.
“Why, yes, I did.” Loki stated, taking a cautious step towards you, “I do notice when the one person who does not alienate me leaves me alone.” You turned to him to see him being completely genuine- his soft eyes telling you everything. He looked away and took the sandwich from your hands, “Pardon my directness.” He left the room with the sandwich and without another word.
You sighed at his retreating figure. Maybe you shouldn’t quit- at least not yet. He had shown some feeling in that moment; he had shown that he cared about you. You wouldn’t jump to saying he thought of you in a romantic way like you thought of him, but you could conclude that he felt connected to you.
You took the last two sandwiches to Natasha’s room. You dared not speak of the recent events to her. She munched happily on her sandwich as you two watched reality shows and as he toes dried.
~~~

The next day was completely lovely. The sky was blue and the leaves were in the middle of changing colors. You absolutely loved it and you figured Loli would too. You quietly entered the library and saw him exactly where you had planned to: sitting in that same arm chair with yet another book.

“Loki,” You said, making your presence known to him. He peered over his book at you and offered a smile, “I was wondering if you’d like to go outside- since, you know, you’ve kind of lived in this room for the past couple of weeks.”

“Outside? You would accompany me outside?” He asked, completely thrown off by your question.

“Yes. It’s a beautiful day. I was going to visit the park and I thought that you might like to join me.” You explained yourself.

“I would like that.” Loki said. He set the book on the table and stood up. Using his magic, he changed his clothes from Asgardian wear to Midgardian casual attire. You smiled at him, admiring his change.

You took Loki to the nearest park, much to the dismay of some of your fellow teammates. Thor offered to tag along, but Natasha quickly shut that down. Thor was far too recognizable and anyone could recognize Loki if they had seen his brother. You were pleased about introducing Loki to feeding the ducks with the few pieces of bread that you had smuggled from the compound. From what you could tell, he enjoyed it. It was the simplest thing, yet it displayed Loki’s humaneness in such a strong way. He never really stopped genuinely smiling while at the park and all of it was because of you.

~~~
Loki was pacing around in his room the next day, rehearsing how he should ask you out. He wanted to take you to that restaurant that served the steak you loved, but he didn’t know how Midgardian dating worked.
“Brother!” Thor greeted, walking into Loki’s room unannounced and startling him.
“Thor, have you forgotten how to knock?” He asked with a sigh.
“I heard you pacing. Is anything on your mind?”
“Why would anything be on my mind? I’m fine.” His reply was defensive as he attempted to conceal his emotions. As the God of Mischief, he is normally much better at it, but his feelings for you had grown too great for him to easily cope with.
“Does this have anything to do with Lady Y/N?” Thor inquired.
“What are you on about, brother? This has nothing to do with her. Nothing is wrong.” Loki stated.
“Whatever you say, I shall believe, but I do think you should ask her sooner than later. Unlike us, Lady Y/N does not have thousands of years.” He spoke with a calm smile.
“Is that all?”
“Well, I was originally sent to ask if you were joining us for dinner, so will you?”
“It depends if I am hungry or not. You can leave now, Thor.” Loki said and his brother exited with his hands up in surrender. Loki looked at himself in the mirror and cast an illusion so that he was in casual clothing for the second day in a row. He left his room and headed straight to yours. As he was about to knock, he realized your door was cracked open and that you were speaking to someone in your room.
“I’m actually glad I didn’t quit.”
“I’m glad you didn’t, too.” Natasha said, “It seems to be working.”
“I learned from the best.” You laughed, referring to your best friend before you.
“Do you think he’s changed?”
“I think Loki has.” He froze hearing you mention his name. His heart hammered in his chest, “He seems kinder and gentler. I still feel bad though. A part of me wishes I gave up, but a part of me is proud that I’m going through with this mission.”
‘Mission?’ Loki thought. He felt a stinging pain build up in his heart. No, it couldn’t be. He was the God of Mischief. There was no way you, a mere Midgardian, could have tricked him- and there was no way you could have tricked him into falling in love with you.
“Going undercover is hard, but you have done it well, even if your target was the God of Mischief.” Natasha replied proudly. Loki heard you two come closer to the door, but he wasn’t quick enough to move. His feet were planted in that moment- replaying your words in his head. As you opened the door to reveal him, he used his magic to transform him back to his Asgardian self.
“Loki-“ you started. Natasha looked at you with concern, knowing fully well that he had heard the two of you.
“Don’t.” Loki spoke with a firm shake of his head. The smile that you had grown fond of over the past few weeks was completely gone. “Congratulations, you succeeded in fooling the God of Mischief.” He sarcastically raised his hands and did a partial bow for you, before he left without another word.
You watched his retreating figure in pain. You had never wanted to hurt him- that was never the plan, but, yet again, falling in love with the trickster was never a part of the plan either. You started to walk in the direction of his room when Natasha caught your hand.
“Y/N,” she sighed, “Leave him be for a bit. C’mon, we should tell the others.” Agreeing with her, you quietly followed her down the hall to the lab, opposite of Loki’s direction.
~~~

“Well, this is-“ Tony started after taking a deep breath, but was cut off by Steve.

“Bad. This is bad.” He stated. You could feel all of their eyes watching you, as you kept your eyes focused on the ground beneath you. “Thor, what do you suggest we do?”

“I do not know.” The God replied, “I have never seen my brother act the way he was with Y/N before. He showed a whole different level of respect and compassion for her-“

“Could it be that he was playing her as well?” Clint asked.

“No.” Thor shook his head, “Loki is mischievous and he is great at pretending, but not like this. I have never seen him so vulnerable.”

“You think he actually loves her?”

“I don’t know if I would call it love quite yet, but I do believe it could have become that.”

“Should I talk to him?” You asked quietly. Guilt and pain was all you could feel. Loki was upset with you, and, now, Thor believed you to have broken his heart.

“Maybe I shall speak with him first, Lady Y/N.” Thor said. “I know my brother best and I fear he is too unpredictable at the moment.”

“Very well then. Thor, go see him.” Natasha stated and he nodded. The room was silent as all of you watched Thor leave the room.

Thor entered Loki’s room to find his brother casually sitting on his bed, a book in his hand. Loki lowered the book and looked at the other God. He answered, “Yes?”

“Do you love her?” Thor asked.

“That mortal? Please.” Loki said, rolling his eyes lightly.

“Loki, drop this act. Do you love her?” He asked again. Thor stepped into the room and a bright gold burst came from the room as Loki’s magic disappeared. The seemingly normal bedroom was an illusion and shifted into the remains of a bedroom. The bed was torn apart with the mattress falling into the wall; the opposite wall had a few fist holes in it; and the bedside table was smashed, bits of it splattered around the room. Loki sat in the far corner and lifted his head from hands.

“See for yourself, brother.” Loki said, slowly looking up at the other God. His eyes were red and his hair was a mess from his recent angry motions.

“Loki-“ Thor was speechless. He had never seen his brother so broken and hurt. The last time Thor walked in on Loki in a state like this was when their mother died; and, now, Loki was broken once more.

“Surprised? This is what one look like when they are upset.” He stated.

“This is far more than upset.”

“It’s against my nature to call myself heartbroken.”

“Y/N would like to speak with you.”

“And I would not like to speak with her, or anyone for that matter, so, brother, you may leave now.”

“I will not leave you here to swallow yourself into a hole of despair.” Thor said as Loki stood.

“Despair? How would you feel if the mortal you loved betrayed you? How would you feel if you loved her and she had been lying to you this whole time?” His voice raised in anger.

“You have it all wrong, brother. Y/N has not betrayed you.”

“Leave! You know nothing of her lies!” He stepped towards his brother and Thor straightened up to his full height, preparing for any violence that may come.

“Loki,” You spoke from the doorway. Both Gods turned to you in surprise and Loki’s heavy breathing seemed to calm.

“Lady Y/N-” Thor started.

“I’d like to speak to Loki alone.” You said. The blond looked between the two of you and then left the room without another word.

“I do not wish to speak to you right now.” Loki turned his back to you and you took in his destroyed room. You sighed softly and stepped towards him.

“Please, allow me to explain myself.”

“I don’t need any further explanation. I understand your actions- you don’t trust me, none of you do.” He stated with a firm shake of his head, making you stop in your tracks.

“Loki, I can’t speak for the others, but I trust you. What I did was wrong, but I was doing what was best for the team. They wanted me to earn your trust-”

“Well, you earned more than that. Congratulations.” He said.

“If it is love that you’re speaking of, then I feel it too.” You replied and he slowly turned to you.

“Pardon me?” Loki questioned and you continued your walk to him until you were directly in front of the God.

“I love you, Loki, and I’m so sorry that I made you feel betrayed. It was never my intentions.”

“Is this the truth?” He asked and you delicately took his hands in yours. You nodded, causing a grin to form on his face. He leaned down to kiss you softly. He pulled away and whispered to you, “Good. I love you too, and it frightens me.”

“I’ll never lie to you again.”

MASTERLIST.

Once Steve Harrington returns home he notices a small note fall from his backpack. Curious to what it may be – his first guess is a love confession or a number of some gal, – he picks it up, and greatly confused, re-reads it a few times before saying it aloud.

’Call me once you read this. It’s urgent’?” He stares into spaces before glancing down at the note. Who could’ve—Wait a minute! The blue ink, the swirls, the delicate and careful drawing of characters…This is no chicken scribble. And he knows only one person that actually tries to have nice handwriting!

(Name) Henderson.

Hurried and even a bit worried, he trots to the home telephone and punches in your household’s number. There are a few moments of tensed silence and static before you pick up.

Finally! What took you so long!?” Your voice echoes from the other end.

What?” Steve frowns, “Never mind that, what’s with the note? We in middle school, or something?”

“Meet me by the theatre in ten. I’m about to do something reckless.”

“…What are you going to do?”

“I’m going to fucking destroy Billy’s car.”

Beep beep beep. You hang up. And the telephone nearly slips out of Steve’s fingers.

Seven Things About Supernatural: 13x01 - “Lost And Found”

Oh hey.  The show’s back.

Honestly.  This is mid-season or season-ender level crying happening.  And shit, I am so fucking here for it.

  1. Jack is his father’s son.  Not Lucifer’s, despite his parentage, but Castiel’s.  He doesn’t understand, but he wants to.  He isn’t cruel, he isn’t violent.  He’s something that doesn’t fit.  Both of them want guidance from a missing father.  He even looks a bit like Cas, and the scenes in the police station – light bulbs exploding as he passes, being stabbed in the chest to no effect – are callbacks to Cas’ entrance in 4x01.

    (He also takes after his uncle Gabriel, what with the Nougat thing.  And the t-shirt is kind of an awesome nod to what Dean “sees” in him – i.e. the son of Satan – via the horns.)

    But yeah.  He just wants his dad.  He was just looking for his dad.  I wonder who that sounds like…
  2. Miriam – aka drunk fries angel – was a highlight.  She’s merciless and damn good at her job, trailing the Winchesters to get intel while just sort of casually fucking with them.  She writes “BITCH” in the dust of Baby’s back window, and she’s brutal in her fight with Dean.  She knows how to make things hurt emotionally and physically, and makes decisions in the moment in ways that reminded me that I might have a very specific competence kink.

    She reads Dean perfectly.  Anything?  Nope, Cas is dead.  You want your son safe?  Kill that guy and we’ll deal.  I’m gonna die?  Fine, but I’m taking a shot at the Nephil on the way out.

    She’s absolutely not a good person, but she’s a badass in ways that are satisfying as hell to watch.  Also, her actor – Carlena Britch – apparently did all of her own fight work.  (She also fractured her thumb filming with Jensen, so she’s a badass IRL.)
  3. She also conjures up the ghost of Becky Rosen.  Which…okay, I’m coming out of the text for a little bit on this one, because this was a thing that in the text is a little bit of a throwaway in the sense that we know how the angels feel about the Winchesters being a destabilizing, selfish force.

    But the name Becky, that we’re supposed to hear.  And she uses it, over and over, so that if we miss it the first time, we’ll catch it.  And then she describes a really thoughtless, selfish person who breaks whatever she wants without concern for others in her own pursuit of satisfaction and amusement.

    Guys, I think Dabb might have called the disruptive, abusive edges of fandom out for their bullshit.  The ones who scream at the writers, the ones who kill the fun for other fans, the ones who are dicks at cons, etc.  And that’s…fascinating?  Because I know that Becky is a character a lot of folks have analyzed and tried to rehabilitate a little, even though she (and a lot of the fans portrayed in 5x09) are not a positive portrayal of fans in the same way some later portrayals are (e.g. 10x05).

    And if that’s what he’s doing, that only really exists inside that scene – because we probably aren’t supposed to self-identify this way via Dean after Miriam calls him a Becky – but…

    Anyway, it’s possible I’m projecting and seeing subtext where it’s not there, but I saw it the first time ‘round and in my morning rewatch and…yeah.  I can’t unsee it.
  4. Dean’s prayer fucks me up something terrible.

    “We’ve lost everything, and now you’re gonna bring him back.  Okay?  You’re gonna bring back Cas, you’re gonna bring back mom.  You’re gonna bring ‘em all back.  All of ‘em.  Even Crowley.  ‘Cause after everything you’ve done, you owe us, you son of a bitch.  So you get your ass down here and you make this right, right here, right now.”

    This isn’t the first time he’s excused himself to the back of the building to try and contact an absent father, and gone unheard.  He knows how this goes.  You can see it in his face.  He tries to have faith.  He gets nothing.

    Arguably, Dean’s quarrel with Chuck in 11x21 still stands.  Nothing has changed.  He’s still getting screwed over by a father’s willful absence.

    And then there’s this:

    “We’ve lost everything, and now you’re gonna bring him back.  Okay?  You’re gonna bring back Cas…”

    He can’t even say that Cas is dead to Sam when they go looking for Jack, but he knows it.  He saw the wing prints.  Miriam taunted him with it.  He’s fucked-up about losing Mary yet again – evidenced by his nightmare after Jack knocks him out – but this is the loss hitting him the hardest.  It’s Cas’ body that’s his to prepare, his to burn.

    You’re gonna bring back Cas, you’re gonna bring back mom.  You’re gonna bring ‘em all back.  All of ‘em.  Even Crowley.

    (That’s not an echo of ”I love you.  I love all of you.”  Not at all.)

    “Well goodbye, Cas…”

  5. And hey, if Dean’s prayer didn’t fuck you up completely, Sam teaching Jack about funerals – Jack who is an orphan now, watching both of his parents burn – is there to cause the leak in your ceiling that will pour water on your face.

    “You say thank you.  And you say you’re sorry.  You hope they’re somewhere without sadness, pain.  You hope they’re somewhere better.  You say goodbye.”

    Like, for all folks were complaining toward the end of Hellatus about who Sam is on the show of late – i.e. purely analytical, unfeeling – this ep was fantastic for centering him as this sort of mediating force who’s trying to work big picture despite the loss, trying to take all data into account.

    And also trying not to die, because he was fucking terrified in that jail cell.

    Which hey, understandable.  And if we’re giving Miriam competence kink points for adusting on the fly, Sam earned his in bulk.  Plus, he totally headbutted an angel.  So hey.  Sam fucking Winchester.
  6. Actually, let’s just take a second to laugh about how scary Jack both is and isn’t.  Because he’s not doing most of the exotic, terrifying things on purpose.  He just does them when he’s scared.  And he knows almost nothing about his abilities, but he’s learning what he can as fast as he can after “growing up fast” as per his mother’s recommendation.

    His sense of self seems kind of nebulous.  He “was” Kelly, though we don’t really know what he means by that exactly.  When he uses his powers he feels somehow disconnected from them.

    And he gets hungry and the lights flicker we’re all like, “OH SHIT CLARK,” and then nope, he’s just magically stealing candy from the vendo.  And he feels really badly about frightening and hurting Clark and Sheriff Barker.

    He’s still figuring out shoes, y’all.  Shoes.
  7. So I can’t help but notice that Sam doesn’t share the Castiel-as-Jack’s-father bombshell with Dean.  Which, uh, I debated leaving as a bonus thing, or rolling into #5, but I think it’s significant enough to mention on its own, because this is a) kind of a big fucking deal with regard to understanding Jack, and b) kind of a serious fucking omission on Sam’s part.

    Which…historically….well, Sam does that a lot.  And he usually has a reason, but it also usually has consequences, so batten down the hatches for that, I suppose.

Bonus Thing: Sheriff Barker is a gift.  I mean, she got the talk basically right out of the gate, and she advocates on behalf of people others call crazy or strange, and I kind of hope we see her again.

Bonus Thing 2: Hey, are we still using Baby as a gauge for Dean’s wellbeing?  Because, uh…she needs some TLC.

Bonus Thing 3: There is a moment during the Miriam v. Dean fight that is fucking amazing blink-and-you’ll-miss-it physical comedy.  He picks up a hat tree, she smashes the end off, then smashes it in half, and Dean does this cartoon panic and tosses the pieces up in the air.

Like, seriously.  I need to learn to gif for moments like that.

Bonus Thing 4: The universe screamed at Dagon’s death.  Presumably it did at Ramiel’s and Azazel’s, too?  Guess that’s how Asmodeus gets the memo…

Once Upon A Flannel

Title: Once Upon A Flannel

Summary: Dean doesn’t know how or why he fell in love with her. But he does know one thing. It all started with a flannel

Author: deanssweetheart23

Characters: Dean Winchester x reader, Sam Winchester, Bobby Singer (mentioned), Castiel (mentioned)

Word count: 3977 (totally worth it, I promise)

Warnings: Fluff. Angst. Some language. Implied smut. Death of a loved one, mentions of blood and references to grief.

Author’s Notes: This is my very late submission for @luci-in-trenchcoats‘ AU & Things Challenge. Michelle, I can’t even thank you enough for being so patient with me about this. I fell so in love with the story and wanted to do it justice.

Special thank you to twin @ravengirl94 for reading parts of it over for me and listening to me whine, I don’t know what I’d do without her.

My prompt for this was flannel (obviously, lol) and you’ll see what I did with it in the text *winks* Also, this fic was loosely inspired by Ed Sheeran’s How Would You Feel (You need to listen to that, btw, his new album is amazeballs)

Thank you for all of your love and support. Enjoy <3

The first time Dean sees her in one of his flannels, it’s after a wendigo hunt.

Autumn’s slowly creeping its way into his life again, its tawny leaves and withered hedges painting the scene in golden colors and, even though he rarely takes the time to appreciate things like these anymore, he stops for a second and breathes it all in, the crispiness and the rustles and the shadows of change.

And then, she swims into view.

She’s sitting on the hood of a Bronco in Bobby’s scrap yard, fallen leaves dancing at her feet, as she stares straight ahead, at the sky that’s turning to orange and smiles.

And he doesn’t notice at first, but there’s something familiar in the red and white fabric that wraps around her, in the way the garment dwarfs her, in the rolled-up sleeves and the hem that reaches her mid-thigh and he realizes that it’s his clothes she’s wearing.

She looks beautiful.

~College!au Pen Pal Yoongi~ PART FOUR

Yoongi trailed after his friends entering the club. Warning off the younger ones to not end up wasted by the end of the night, he headed for the bar. Sitting down on one of the bar stools, he greeted the bartender.

“Just a beer.” The bartender nodded in response before turning around.

Taking a look at his surroundings, Yoongi noticed someone sitting a few stools beside him. She was young, as young as he was probably, sat at the bar, eyes trained on her tall glass of water.

“You look out of place,” Yoongi called over the music. Snapping her head up, she gave a polite smile. “My friends are here. I’m their driver.”

“Ah. That must suck,” Yoongi took a swig from the beer bottle given to him by the bartender.

“Eh, we take turns,” She shrugged in response, taking a sip of the water. “You have a ride?”

“That would be me,” A voice cut in. Yoongi turned to Namjoon with a raised brow. “I’m heading out for a minute. Make sure the boys don’t…do anything crazy, okay?”

Simply nodding his head, Yoongi returned his attention to the girl beside him. “You look like you’re in a mood?” She cocked her head to the side and squinted her eyes, as if analyzing him.

“That’s just my resting face,” Yoongi shrugged it off.

“Man, you need to smile more,” She shook her head, scooting over so she was in the stool just left of his.

“Hm, not the first time I’ve heard someone say that,” Yoongi looked up as in thought.

“Well, you should listen to them. Life’s too short to be living it so gloomily,” She placed her elbow on the counter and rested her head against her hand.

Yoongi could only shrug. “I like staying inside my own room. I’m happy in there.”

“I can relate. My friends had to practically drag me out of mine,” She sighed.

“They did?”

“Yeah, and usually I’m one for going out and having a blast. Just wasn’t feeling it tonight, though.” Yoongi knew there was a reason but he didn’t pry.

“Don’t mind me asking but what’s your name?”

Smiling brightly, she stuck her hand out, “Y/N!”

You waited for the man beside you to shake your hand but he only eyed it curiously.

“Uh, you’re supposed to shake it, you know that, right?” You asked warily. The man hesitantly shook your hand. “Yoongi.”

“Nice to meet you!” Instead of receiving an answer, he went back to drinking his beer. Pouting, you stared at him.

Gazing at you in the corner of his eye, he turned to you, “Can I help you with something?”

“No, probably not. You just remind me of someone I know.”

“Must be a joy to be around,” Yoongi muttered, sarcastically.

“Oh, he’s nice. I like him,” you shrugged referring to your pen pal. You didn’t know that much about him, besides that he’s quite the opposite of you. “Total opposites.”

“I know someone like that, too. Total opposites,” Yoongi rolled his eyes, a chuckle escaping his lips. It wasn’t a full smile, but it was a smile.

“Look! You smiled! See? You just need someone to bring you that smile,” You grinned, cheekily. Why were you talking to this stranger you hardly knew? You were off campus at the moment, so he most likely didn’t go to your college.

“Right…Well, Namjoon came back in and I’m gonna out. Want one?” He offered the rolled up piece of paper with thousands of deadly chemicals trapped inside waiting to be inhaled. Gulping, you turned away. “Nope. No thanks.”

“Don’t smoke?” He guessed, placing the cigarette between his lips, not bothering to light it yet.

“No. And I don’t think you should, either. It’s not good for you.”

Yoongi scoffed, “I’m aware of the dangers and I don’t smoke often. Not that kind of guy. What’s the real reason you’re so against it?” He stood up to leave.

“My sister used to smoke. It was bad,” Your eyes stayed glued to the water in front of you.

“Used to? She stopped?” Yoongi asked, and you knew he wanted your answer to be positive. But deep down he knew it wasn’t.

“Wasn’t able to. Lung cancer,” You mumbled. Sitting back down, he took the cigarette out of his mouth. “I’m sorry.”

Shaking your head, you offered a smile, “It was an eye opener for me. Without her death, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. Spreading positivity and trying to make others make the best out of life.”

“That’s why you told me not to be so depressed,” Yoongi guessed in a monotone, as if understanding.

“I didn’t say depressed! Just not enthusiastic.”

“What’s there to be enthusiastic about?”

“Uh, friends, family, anything that caused you any spark of happiness?”

“Like a soft spot?”

“Exactly!” You snapped your fingers. “Learn to have a soft spot. Most times it’s a person. And please, make some sort of effort.” You offered one final smile before going to find your friends.

Even after you left, Yoongi pondered over what you had said. He did say he was going to try to be less…like himself for his pen pal. But how?

“Joon I swear I’m fine.” You said as you watched your brother pace back and forth in his lavish study. There were ware lines on the carpet in the pattern of his track- and you wonder how many hours he’s spent total worrying and pacing in this room. Your thighs suck uncomfortably to the leather sofa- though not because you were sweaty. Your own blood stained your clothes and dripped steadily down your body onto the sofa and the red carpet.  Your brother’s medic and second, Seokjin sat to your left-  delicately suturing and bandaging your arm as gently as he could.

The flat screen TV buzzed softly against the wall,  “Unknown shooter at Coex plaza- none known injured, the story at midnight,” a news castor said. No one injured- accept for you, but the media didn’t know that and never would. Namjoon had already had someone steal the surveillance tapes to hide your identity and You both knew that you were the assassin’s only target.

They hadn’t been successful- all you had to show was a graze from a single bullet- deep but to be honest it hurt less then it should have. Probably because you were a little hopped up on painkillers; you could barely feel Seokjin’s needle as he sutured your arm closed.

He sat next to you- his medical kit spread around you- his head down waiting for your brother- his boss’s wrath to be turned towards him. “It is not fine y/n and don’t you dare try to say it is.” Your brother dragged his hands through his silver hair. “Why didn’t you notice them following you sooner?” Namjoon directed at Jin quietly. His anger barely leashed.

It was Seokjin’s job to protect you whenever you left the gang compound, and today you had gone shopping in Seoul’s busiest mall: Coex plaza. The only thing stopping Namjoon from throttling Jin was the fact that Jin had practically been raised as your second brother. Jin’s father had been your fathers second, like Namjoon, he had inherited the position.

The shot had rung out just as you turned and by some luck, the bullet had hit your arm and not your chest. It wasn’t the first time someone had made an attempt on your life- and to be honest- the members of Namjoon’s inner circle had gotten much worse in recent past.

Taehyung was currently resting up in an actual hospital after the idiot decided to jump from a bridge in an effort to evade a rival gang- which had worked- but left him with a broken wrist and several broken ribs.

“It’s not his fault- you wouldn’t have been able to pick the shooter out of a crowd that large either.” You argued, coming to Jin’s rescue.

“You’re right- I wouldn’t have let you go in the first place.” You swallowed, meeting your brothers’ glare with a look equally as stalwart.

“Try that next time and you’ll see how well it works out,” you threatened as Seokjin started to wrap your arm with gauze. Even Seokjin flinched at your words.

“Y/n” Seokjin warned, but Namjoon held up a hand to silence him. You where the only one who could talk to Namjoon that way. You were each other’s only family left. Your parents long since killed because of your father’s business- a business which Namjoon had inherited as the oldest.

your brother was the leader of the largest mafia in Seoul- Bangtan. Bangtan had started as just a gang lead by your father and had grown under Namjoon’s intellect. Now it was something that had never been seen before in South Korea- with a territory that consumed half the city and ears all the way to Busan. But just because he was the kingpin didn’t mean he didn’t have enemies- quiet the opposite. Today’s attempt on your life was just one of many that had haunted you both in the last year.

One of the other gangs- the royal sevens, had been trying to take away your brother’s power since the first day he had taken the throne- them along with your rivals- the X’s. We’re giving you more than a few headaches.

A gang war was brewing; everyone knew it. The evidence was clear in the bags under Namjoon’s eyes. And you wondered how many days it had been since he had gotten a good nights sleep. And with Taehyung out of commission momentarily, and the members of his inner circle reduced to 4- Jin could be spared even less frequently to take you too and from your college classes and you couldn’t leave the compound unsupervised.

“What do you expect me to do y/n? Don’t you realize how much it hurts me too see you hurt because of me? You won’t stay where we can keep you safe and you won’t let me send you out of the city so what do you want me to do?”

“I’m not leaving, Namjoon.” your voice was thick with emotion, the words barely a whisper. Namjoon leveled you with a dangerous look, his eyes flashing, in anger and confliction.

Namjoon turned to Seokjin “leave.” He commanded. Seokjin was quick to exit the office- giving you a thankful look as he closed the door behind him.

Namjoon sat down next to you, ignoring your blood that stained his expensive slacks- someone would be in to clean his study later. It wasn’t the first time blood had been removed from the walls or the floor.

Namjoon probably had 5 other pairs of slacks exactly like those- but because you where his sister- his pride and joy- the sight unnerved him. He took your arm gently- letting you flex it this way and that and establishing whether or not there was any lasting damage- there wasn’t- you could tell it wasn’t deep.

“Well find a solution, I promise, I just want you to have a normal life.”

“I don’t want a normal life if you’re not in it,” you said softly. Your love for your brother was deep- after all, he had practically raised you after your parents died. “Is the solution a war?” You asked quietly , he signed.

“We won’t know that until one starts and ends.”

“I don’t want there to be a war,” you said even softer.

“I know- but it’s likely unavoidable.” You both knew that the only way to survive a war was to come out on top. The last one had happened when you where just a child- Namjoon was nearly a decade older than you-you barely 7 when your parents were killed- and Namjoon just a young man when he had come into power. You had both survived the gang war- but only barely, you still had the small scars on your palms from the night your parents died. You shivered at the memory.

“If you would only go to school in Busan- we could transfer you to another college- one just as good- and there you’d be safer- now wouldn’t be a terrible time for you to study abroad either- America is nearly as safe-”

“My English is terrible and you know it.” Namjoon grinned- fondly recalling the memory of him trying to teach you when you were in middle school- and how badly that had gone.

“I need you safe y/n. please- if we can’t find a solution just think about it.”

You swallowed, letting your head rest on your brother’s shoulder. “Alright.” You said letting sleep and the painkillers pull you down. He picked you up from the couch careful not to brush your arm and took you to your bedroom, tucking you into bed like he used to when you were a child.

But you weren’t a child anymore- and hadn’t been in a while. Soon he knew you would want something more then the claustrophobic life he had to offer you- a life that would land you in an early grave if he didn’t fix the world around you and make it safer.

Namjoon pressed a kiss to the top of your head. For you, he would do anything- even if it meant burning down the current world to forge a new one.

Jimin pressed his bleeding knuckles to the cold dirty concrete of his cell. He was torn between keeping his cuts clean and soothing his bruised hands and body- but at the moment the need for comfort was greater than his need to feel safe. If dirt got in his knuckles there was a chance they could get infected- and a chance that his punches would be slower.

His master wanted his only drive to be to keep his strong hybrid body alive- but after tonight he was simultaneously lit with pride and also couldn’t find it in him to care that he was endangering his wellbeing.

Jimin couldn’t remember a time when he hadn’t been fighting- or been training for fighting. Before he had come to live with his current master he had spent his adolescence learning to fight- and it seemed today- today had been the culmination of those efforts and the point of his entire life.

The kennels where he and his kind where kept smelled like blood, sweat, fear, and adrenaline. His usual kennel mate was missing- maybe he was being punished- maybe he had died in tonight’s fight ( it wouldn’t be the first time that had happened). Jimin had never learned his name. It wasn’t worth it- not when it was likely that his master would force Jimin to fight and maybe kill the hybrid later. None of the hybrids talked to each other because doing so was usually grounds for punishment.

Until today he had been just another one of the many hybrids apart of the underground fighting ring. His master was one of the more notable ones, out of his kennels came the best fighters- and every hybrid, master, and ringleader knew it. Every weekend his master would take his few best fighters to the fighting rings and every week Jimin would win- earning his master more money than seemed legal- of course, Jimin knew that none of it was. Then he would spend the next week recovering and training.

Only to go through it all again next week.

Jimin had never lost a fight against another hybrid or human (though he didn’t fight humans often- and only when his master told him too). And tonight he had finally beat the reigning champion-a wolf hybrid named Taeyang. Who had held the title for nearly 2 years.

But it hadn’t felt good to defeat him- to outsmart him, it never did.

Jimin was already the underdog in the fight- he was purebred German Shepard, and therefore was physically smaller than the lumbering Taeyang. But where he had lacked in strength he had made up for in speed and intelligence. Jimin had thought it through all week, knowing he’d have to run Yang ragged to stand a chance. Jimin had only stopped before killing him because his master had commanded he stop after the ringleader declared the fight won by Jimin.

Jimin was the only one left standing. And as much as he hated it- as much as he felt pity for Taeyang- who was knocked out but barely breathing- relief clung to his bones. He had survived another week. Survived another fight.

The hundred or so humans around the fighting ring shouted- some in dismay and others in joy. He wondered how much money had been bet on him tonight. Some of the people shouted at Jimin to kill his opponent and establish himself as the alpha.

Every person in the hall was shouting for him to finish the job except for 4 people; the ringleader, Jimin, Jimin’s master and one lone man, standing on scaffolding above them.

His glasses where the only thing that Jimin could see in any real detail- along with cold appraising golden brown eyes. As a hybrid- Jimin’s sense of smell, eyesight, and hearing where exceptionally good- and as a purebred Jimin’s senses were even better than that. This man’s scent was different- lighter somehow. With a lingering note of whiskey, gunpowder, and blood- a woman’s blood- and her scent that wrapped around his like a blanket.

Jimin was a killer- and had been made into one by the people who owned him. But still, the smell of the man made his blood go cold. Even as he walked away from the rancorous display; Jimin tracked him with his eyes, shivering at the feel of the man.

Then he had been brought back here to collapse onto the cold ground, Tired- the aftereffects of the adrenaline pulsing through his veins. Someone stepped in front of his cell door and opened it with a bang that would have made anyone else flinch. One of his master’s men gestured for him to come out- Jimin did so slowly and gently, careful to keep his head down. He refused to let himself limp- though Taeyang had caught him in his ribs. Any sign of weakness or disrespect could be enough to get a beating.

In his time training, Jimin had been beaten many times- for tripping- for not punching correctly- even once for asking for water. But years of it had made him perfectly obedient.  He had been rewarded before too- with water and food, with new clothes and blankets or even showers. Which were cold things- but the only way he could clean wounds.

Jimin prized showers overall- and if the other hybrids had asked him- he would have told them that it was the secret to his success- making sure his body was clean. But most of the others of his kind were terrified of him. A fact that left a heavy feeling in his heart and a sour taste in his mouth.

His masters quarters where paneled with a dark wood. A large circular couch and a full bar with alcohol that stung Jimin’s nose- even so; the smell of the dark man hit him like a car. And Jimin flinched when he smelled it.

“Ah, there you are! My prized fighter” his master exclaimed from where he sat- a human woman on his arm and a drink in his hand. Jimin lifted his eyes tentatively towards the newcomer. The man was surprisingly Attractive, tall and broad-shouldered, with silver hair that was shaved on the sides. His nondescript black clothes hung on him in the same way that his masters did- tailored in a way that let the viewer know they where expensive. His face was even- blank like a painting but he appraised Jimin with an almost sterile air, the same way someone would look at a knife.

“I see you’ve noticed monster,” his master said, grinning and gesturing with a finger towards the other man. Monster- an apt name. His master turned towards the monster. “Tell me again why I’ve let you convince me to sell you my most prized fighter before I’ve had a chance to breed him?”

At the notion of breeding Jimin recoiled, a cold shiver sent down his back. The thought of doing that with anyone was nearly unthinkable. But then there where the other words. Sell? His master was selling him.

“Because you owe me a favor Jay,” Monster said with a slight smile playing on his lips that Jimin didn’t believe was genuine for a second, “and because you love money more than you love your hybrids.”  Jimin must have made a noise because all of them turned to him.

“Spit it out dog.” His master commanded harshly.

“Sell?” Jimin asked quietly. His master laughed.

“Your performance tonight attracted his attention- and now monster wants you for his own- so tonight you’ll go with him. He’s your new master.”

Jimin felt like the world had been pulled out from under him. Go with that man? Leave the kennels where he had practically grown up? Was this punishment? But he had done so well tonight- he had thought tonight would be the night everything changed for the better, but as Monster- as his new master smiled at him, showing his teeth, Jimin couldn’t help but think that things had changed for the worse.

The early morning light stunned Jimin as he stepped out of the kennels. He had only seen daylight a few times in his life, and this cold grayness made him shiver. A long black car was waiting for them- and the driver was waiting, door open, for his new master to get in.

Jimin hurried after him- careful to stay on the other side of his car. Jimin practically pressed his face into the window. The city, which was usually dark and punctuated by neon lights was soft and yellow-grey. A few sleepy people walking as the car drove at a leisurely pace.

Jimin’s tail wagged excitedly once against the leather, and startled, he grabbed it to make it stop, only to find his new master watching him. Jimin flinched, expecting to be hit for the annoying action, but His master only signed, Jimin hung his head preparing to be beaten. But when he spoke monsters voice was even- without anger.

“I’m sure you’re wondering why I’ve bought you,” he said sternly. “but before we get to that tell me; Did you like fighting?” Jimin looked up startled by the question, the monster didn’t shout at him to answer as he digested his words only waited patiently.

“Never,” Jimin answered. His hands- his knuckles still split and dirty, tightening on his knees. “Not once. It was only a way to survive.”

“then I’m sorry to have to ask you to do it again,” His master pulled out his wallet, and then a photograph, he held it out to Jimin.

It was a photograph, of a smiling girl a little younger than Jimin probably. With y/h/c hair and y/e/c eyes that sparkled with happiness and joy like Jimin had never seen. All Jimin had was a photograph of you and he could already tell you where beautiful. Jimin turned to look at monster apprehensively.

“What do you want me to do to her.” his new master turned to the window, the rising sun turning his hair a light orange.

“I want you to protect her.”
