i can relate to this in different ways

oooooh Shawn talk yassss. THIS IS GONNA SOUND WEIRD but I miss Shawn. like I really really miss him but I've never met him. Never even come close. But like when I think about Shawn thats the feeling I get. Like I just miss him. Ya feel?

You know what, thank you for sending this. Though most Adults ™ would say something different from what I’m about to say and though I may not feel this way about any certain celebrity these days, I do remember this feeling from when I was younger so, yeah, I think I can relate.

You may not know Shawn or be able to spend time with him one-on-one, but you’ve spent plenty of time with his art, haven’t you? With all of the melodies and and all of the words that come straight out of his head and probably even more so from his heart. With the performances that he’s put his blood, sweat and tears into…

So, yeah, I can see how you could feel close to him and how you could feel that you miss him, especially in those moments when you realize that no matter how surrounded you feel by him, he’s not actually there.

*deep sigh*

Prompt 65: “Did you do something different to your hair?”

This is a prompt I personally wanted to do.
I don’t give a fuck, this is really something to liven up the spirits of those whose feels were crushed from the last prompt (bc lol I can’t relate).
Warnings? Fluff, almost video chat foreplay, implied Mercy will throw hands if you don’t take care of yourself, African hair texture, Texting.

Oh almighty napkin arm with googly eyes, I humble peregrin dare come forth with a request... could you make some character design breakdowns for some more realistic characters? Like your power ranger fanart? I tried to break them down on my own, but I'm not sure I did it that well... it's incredibly useful and interesting... Keep being awesome, and thanks for how you already helped me anyway!

Thanks for the patience, had to mull this one over. The more complex a design gets, the more difficult it is to break down. Basic character design tips may not be enough…so let’s delve into:

Character Design Tips Part 2!

Before we start, it’ll help to read my last character design post, where I laid out four concepts: shapes, silhouettes, colors, and inspiration. In this post, I aim to build on and rephrase these in a way that hopefully makes it easier to apply them. I’ll be drawing examples from my Power Rangers (2017) fanart to illustrate my points.

(Disclaimers:)

  • (Ideally, you should already be comfortable with drawing people. If not, look into figure drawing, gesture drawing, etc.)
  • (Whereas my previous tips were more tried and true, the tips here are more my own thoughts, so they may be half-formed.)
  • (Again, these are not rules. They’re just tips to add to your toolbox; the more tools you have, the more versatile you’ll become.)

Without further ado, let’s start!

Based off what we know about shapes, silhouettes, colors and inspiration, I want to cover: lines and angles, external and internal silhouettes, values, and references.

1. Shapes => Lines and Angles

Last time, I laid out three basic shapes:round, box, and triangle.

Problem: limiting yourself to these 3 shapes can be useful and fun for simpler designs, but they may be too simple or look out of place on more complex designs.

Solution: let’s go to the next level! Instead of shapes, shift your thinking to lines and angles!

Lines can be curved, straight, or diagonal.
Angles can range from obtuse to acute angles.
Follow your intuition: what feeling do you get from each line or angle?
If I follow my own intuition, I see that:

  • curved lines = natural, soft
  • straight lines = balanced, grounded
  • diagonal lines = off-balance, in motion
  • obtuse angles = broad, relaxed
  • right angles = rigid, unnatural
  • acute angles = slim, dynamic

If this sounds familiar, you’re right! It’s just the shapes all over again:

  • curved lines make round shapes
  • straight lines with obtuse/right angles make boxy shapes
  • diagonal lines with acute angles make triangular shapes

But lo! Since we broke the shapes into their smaller components, it’s much more flexible! Now we can use lines and angles for more complex designs:

2. Silhouette => External and Internal Silhouettes

Last time, I explained the silhouette test: if you black out the figure, it should still be readable.

Problem: blacking out the figure only tests the outline of the design, i.e. the external silhouette. But what about the inside of the design?

Solution: block in the figure and test for the internal silhouette!

If you want not just an interesting outline, but an interesting costume, block in the major components of your design to see if it has a readable internal silhouette. This test can help you avoid boring or cluttered costumes and makes your design stand out. If your internal silhouette is too empty, try adding props or designs. If it’s too busy, simplify it.

3. Colors => Values

Last time, I talked about the 60-30-10 and 70-30 rules for color.

Problem: those rules work on the assumption that you’re only using 2 to 3 colors. But what if I want to use more colors?

Solution: good news! The same idea applies if you split your palette into 3 major values: shadows, midtones, and highlights.

Balance your palette by converting your colors to grayscale and applying the 60-30-10 rule to the values. This is related to the idea of silhouettes; if you get a nice internal silhouette, you’ll probably end up with a nicely balanced set of palette values, and vice versa.

(Fun fact! You can split your palette in different ways. In a watercolor tutorial, Miyazaki splits the palette into bright, dark, black, green 1, green 2, blue 1, and blue 2.)

4. Inspiration => References

“Good artists copy, great artists steal!” -Picasso

Problem: Coming up with something 100% original is tedious and doesn’t always give great results. It saps the inspiration right out of you!

Solution: It’s a lot easier to steal ideas from references!

Note: don’t just copy, steal! Cherry-pick/massage the aspects of the reference you find the most appealing and work them into your design. Ditch anything that you don’t care about. Make it your own! Make it something you can put your own name on! Below is the reference image I used for my designs:

What Natsu was really going to say...

On a lighter note of our precious baby vanishing in thin air, what did he really want to say?

In reference to this panel in 453:

So flash forward to 538 when Natsu, Lucy, Happy and Gray are walking back:

What I’d like to point out is while Lucy and Gray are talking, they are oblivious to the interaction of Natsu and Happy, as many readers are as well. The focus in this panel was meant to be on Gray and his relationship with Juvia, but I couldn’t help but notice Natsu’s seemingly embarrassed and anxious face and Happy’s scared (if you could call it that) face. It seems Happy mentioned something to Natsu during the conversation of the relationship Juvia and Gray, something that is possibly related in some way to Gray’s unclear relationship with Juvia who loves him. Maybe something along the lines of him and Lucy? Which causes Natsu to react in a embarrassed and panicked state. I can practically hear Natsu telling Happy to shut up, because the war is finally over and now it’s time to do what he said he was going to do (which he also swore he’d do whatever it was in front of Lucy as well).

Plus, in 520, whatever Natsu wanted to do we can rest assured differed from Zeref and Acnologia, since it was stated above. I doubt Natsu knows that Acnologia has been defeated (for now) so we can rest assured he wasn’t going to talk about fighting or anything like that. Plus, can we please note that he wanted to do/say whatever it was and that took PRIORITY over defeating Zeref and Acnologia. Natsu’s first thought went to whatever he wanted to do and THEN Zeref. Whatever he was going to say is very important to him, even more so then him dying or the impending (and almost over) war.

And I just wanted to throw this little cap in from 521 as well. Here we see that even as Natsu went into a demon/END mode he was still conscious that he thought that Lucy died. This is still a lingering fear of Natsu’s I believe, that Lucy will somehow leave him by dying. We know that Future Lucy’s death was very emotional for Natsu, and time and time again after the 1 year time skip Natsu is shown to be very protective of Lucy, claiming that “Even if all is left is her head…Lucy will still be Lucy” (477) and protecting her by putting his body first. Even when it comes time for him to face Zeref and Natsu’s first defeat, he thanks Lucy, thinks of her, knowing she is helping him. Why is this important to note? Because in reference to the panel above, whatever Natsu wanted to do/say trumps beating Zeref, and with Lucy gone/dead than he could never accomplish that. Not only is she the closest person to him, and vise versa, but with her dying he is left with unfinished business IE what he wanted to say to her. Hence him going overboard. Just thought this was worthy to note!

Examples:

Back to the point lol…

This panel in particular shows how teasing Happy is towards Natsu. The second panel he seems to tease Lucy in a way, which makes me believe that whatever Natsu was about to say, whether it be a confession or whatnot, it involves Lucy. Otherwise, I don’t believe Happy would have responded to Lucy with that expression. The bottom panels also show Happy and his teasing, him holding back a laugh with a blush on his cheeks. He’s obviously teasing Natsu about something, something that he knows will embarrass Natsu. He tends to make that expression when it is in regards to Natsu and Lucy and their somewhat unclear relationship:

One can argue that it can be for fanservice, and yes it very well can be, but I don’t see it that way. What Natsu wanted to say involves Lucy in some form so hopefully he comes back so we can find out what ;A;

I believe that Anna and Acnologia coming back (since the last panel there seemed to be this rip in the sky so bitches are coming back) will probably bring a way to save natsu in some form? I don’t believe he is gone for good, but I do believe a sacrifice will be needed in order to bring him back. However, much like these chapters are going, it could also be a troll, and he vanishes somewhere to makes amends with Zeref maybe before coming back to the guild since Zeref and Mavis both defeated the curse? maybe since they defeated it w love they can have like a wish granted, much like Zeref wished he made up with Natsu lol if this is the case I’ll be shook.

nixiefaerie  asked:

what vibes do the rising signs give you?

Aries Rising tend to have a strong vibe overall, maybe even dominant. Is expressive and might appear to have a temper or be opinionated.

Taurus Rising has a very comfortable, friendly, and attractive vibe. Is easy to get along with and commonly appears artistic too. I typically feel comfortable around Taurus Moons and Risings.

Gemini Rising vibe can be hard to pin point because they give a variety of impressions. Common ones are talkative, intimidating (when I was younger), and energetic. I click with many Gemini Suns but not so sure about the Risings.

Cancer Rising comes off as shy or reserved, has a friendly side, is nonthreatening but might also act tough and biased. Some can be mysterious.

Leo Rising is obvious! Good fashion, confident, some are loud, some are playful and funny, likes to show off, smiles a lot, heated vibes.

Virgo Rising has an earthy appeal. They come off as nice, helpful, and easygoing. Their criticism comes out in sarcasm or unexpected quips. Some Virgo Risings have a clearly seen judgmental side but many try hard to fit in or at least give off a specific, purposeful impression.

Libra Rising is friendly, charming, and flirty. They create chemistry with others easily. Subtly shows off, knows how to make others like them. Personally there is always something recognizable to me when I encounter a Libra Moon or Rising.

Scorpio Rising usually has confidence, intensity bubbles to the surface time to time, has a strong sex-appeal. Many show an edgy identity. Many Scorpio Risings have a combination of a reserved aura + magnetism.

Sagittarius Rising- VERY friendly, many are funny, is blunt, a lot have an open and naive persona, is energetic, loves to try new things. I easily click with a lot of Sagittarius Risings and sometimes the Moons and Suns.

Capricorn Risings try to relate on a basic or shallow way to many, has an earthy reliability, their responsible side will find a way to show. They can be witty and sarcastic. Some can be blunt in a “call it how they see it” way. They can have an unshakable aura too. Likely will never see one cry.

Aquarius Rising will always come off as “different” somehow. They attract people, some can be charismatic, are hard to understand. Will always keep their distance, is someone who has many unusual views or morals.

Pisces Rising can be hard to identify. The vibe is chameleon-like. Many are passive and artistic. Some are on a search to define themselves.

She picked something from her table and walked towards her bed. She smiled lightly and sat down slowly. “I will never meet a lot of people. I will never be able to know and understand why people act the way they do. Even if I still can’t understand them perfectly, I knew that I can relate to what they were going through. Some things will never happen, some lessons will not be learned. And some of the greatest people I met will be forever strangers to me. Yes , I will never be able to tell you the wonderful memories—if that one thing never happened to me. If it occurred differently. I will not be talking about the stars if I haven’t experience the darkest of nights. I will not be mesmerized by how the sun rises if I wasn’t awake until it comes. I will not be in love with the sunset if I wasn’t waiting for the day to end. I will not be talking about heartbreak if it doesn’t happen to me. I will not be moved by sad movies if I never felt pain. I will not be talking about deep meanings behind things if I only used my eyes for trying to realize something. I will not be here if I made a different decision. If I chose a different option.”. She looked up and gave him the thing she’s been holding. A thing he thought she will never have. A piece of paper where a date was written. The day when they met each other. The day when he had seen her alone, reading one of her favorite books. The day when he was silently listening to his favorite music. “I was starting to move forward when you saw me. And I never expected that there’s still someone who would want to be with me when I started to stand and walk. I am moving on, and so are you—from two different reasons—but it feels more precious when we decided to do it together.”

13 Reasons Why controversy

Because the response to 13 Reasons Why has been so controversial, I’d just like to point out some things.

As explained in 13 Reasons Why: Beyond the Reasons, the suicide scene was shown BECAUSE they wanted it to be painful for the audience to watch, as well as the rape scenes. Not because they wanted to be gruesome or inconsiderate, but because it is REALITY for so many people in the world and a lot of people like to pretend these things don’t exist or shield themselves from the reality of it; they ignore it because they’ve never gone through it, so they don’t care so much. So then when they see these scenes, they will be made uncomfortable and see what people are really truly experiencing and that it is not something that should at all be sugarcoated or ignored. IT IS REAL.

Secondly, for those saying it’s disgusting for them to show these scenes, THERE ARE WARNINGS AT THE BEGINNING OF THE EPISODES THAT SHOW RAPE AND/OR SUICIDE TO NOT WATCH IF IT WILL AFFECT THE VIEWER IN ANY WAY. These warnings are given specifically so that if you are not comfortable watching or believe it would cause a trigger, you should not even watch. So the fact that people are bashing the show for showing these scenes in relation to them being a trigger, the warnings are already made very clear in the beginning. They did take this step to make sure it wouldn’t just pop up and be any sort of triggers. The producers knew very well to be wary of that.
The show also worked with a lot of psychiatrists, psychologists, and leading experts in teen-suicide prevention. Though this still may not be enough for you to think they did everything right, they again did have the warnings. They are very aware that it could cause triggers and put some people in danger, but THAT IS WHAT THE WARNINGS ARE FOR. DO NOT WATCH IF IT COULD DANGER YOU. VIEWER’S DISCRETION IS ALWAYS ADVISED.

THE SHOW WAS NOT CREATED FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES. IT IS TO SPREAD AWARENESS FOR ALL THE ISSUES (suicide, rape, bullying) AND POINT OUT HOW LITTLE THE SIGNS CAN BE AND HOW MUCH MORE CAREFUL AND HELPFUL EVERYONE IN THE WORLD NEEDS TO BE TO THE PEOPLE AROUND US. As also talked about in Beyond the Reasons, they want to promote teaching boys the proper ways to approach a girl and gain permission to become intimate with her, always getting the YES to teach boys respect for women. This is very important because as most people know, it has always been extremely hard for rape victims to get help because of the “what were you wearing” “were you flirting” “did you lead him on” “did you directly say no” arguments that are so wrongfully executed—instead, 13 Reasons Why knows that this is an issue, as somewhat shown in the scene with Mr. Porter as he questions Hannah. So in the after show, they speak about how parents need to be teaching their children more about consent and less about just protecting yourself, covering up, etc. They are aware that the real issue is with proper consent, and that is a very important message to get across.

Coming from someone who has battled depression and suicidal thoughts and attempts, I must also point out that EVERY SINGLE PERSON, EXPERIENCES, THOUGHTS, REACTIONS, ETC ARE DIFFERENT. What one person suffering depression thinks may be different than another. Hannah Baker’s story is very unique in many ways yet also extremely relatable in many ways to many, many people and girls around the world. JUST BECAUSE YOUR STORY MAY BE DIFFERENT DOES NOT MEAN HERS IS INCORRECT OR LESS/MORE THAN ANOTHER’S. There are a lot of people who can relate to feeling as though you are NOTHING and of no worth to the people around you, just a burden that only disappoints everyone and makes their lives worse. This is a very real state of being and depression and feeling of complete worthlessness that people can reach in their lives, especially some young teenage girls, like Hannah Baker, and even myself, that will lead to suicidal thoughts, attempts, or completely following through with, like Hannah. They believe the world and their loved ones would be better off without them. Again, as someone who has attempted suicide as a teenager and worked for years to fight depression and overcome it, I can say that while the suicide scene did make me uncomfortable and was extremely painful to watch, I was not offended. I knew of the warning at the beginning of the episode, read it, and continued to watch because EVERYONE HANDLES THESE THINGS DIFFERENTLY. I UNDERSTOOD the purpose of including the scene and making it so graphic and realistic. IT’S REALITY, THIS IS HAPPENING TO PEOPLE EVERYDAY AND IT SHOULD NOT BE SUGARCOATED OR SHIELDED FROM THE WORLD; it needs to be made more AWARE OF by those who like to turn a blind eye to it, but it is exposed WITH WARNING. So again, if some feel as though a scene like this would be a trigger, IT IS ADVISED YOU DO NOT WATCH. Everyone is affected differently and they did not just insert it with no consideration for the affect it could have on those battling the same wars as Hannah.

To say Clay was an easy solution and could have saved Hannah by loving her—no, he could not have saved her by just loving her, that is not what this story is even saying. Hannah does explain at the end of her last tape as she exits the school that some people cared, but she felt it was only mediocre, not enough for her to want to stay and feel NEEDED and truly LOVED. So no, they are not saying Clay could have kept her alive by simply loving her, or that love can save someone, it is much more complex than that. What they are saying is that people can care, but not showing how much they truly care can affect someone in the ways it affected Hannah. It was not just one boy’s love that could have saved her, but the love and care of many people, for them to show that they truly cared about her being alive and DID NOT see her as worthless, an object, just another person on earth. She needed to feel as though they NEEDED her to stay, that they genuinely cared about her as a person and that her life was truly worth something, because she did not feel it was. When Clay says he could have kept her alive if he wasn’t so afraid to tell her he loved her, he simply means he could have given her a sense of hope, a sense of belonging on the earth, that someone truly, whole-heartedly valued her life and her as a human being, not an object.

The actress who plays Jessica also explained that she reached out to a family member who is an actual rape survivor, and she stated that she was pleased that the show was “not shying away from the ugliness” of these scenes because viewers will see what these people really go through–again, another topic that is usually sugarcoated and instead needs to be addressed.

13 Reasons Why is a unique way of telling the story of a teenage girl who committed suicide, and the reasoning for bringing it to screen was MOSTLY to promote awareness and shine light on things that are not talked about enough that the youth suffers every single day, things adults see as “normal teenager struggles,” “small stuff,” “it only feels like the end of the world and really isn’t,” etc. This show is being spread more than even expected, and that is a very good thing for those who are in need of help and have parents or peers that once ignored their problems and will now tend to them.

**an issue cannot be tended to/made aware of/more properly prevented if it is just sugarcoated rather than slapped in people’s faces (those who don’t realize how severe it is) like this show does. it can really change things and leave an impact.

**if you are at risk for triggers and do not feel you are currently healthy enough to watch this show, please take care of yourself and do not watch. or, skip episodes 9, 12, and 13 and read up on them instead. these are the episodes that can be triggers for those at risk, if you weren’t yet aware.

**also feel free to stop by my inbox and talk to me if you need someone to talk to, or just would like to speak more on the subject.

anonymous asked:

Can cranes and herons pick up objects with their feet? Can their feet even reach their mouths (e.g. to bring a food item to it)?

So, though they look pretty similar, cranes and herons aren’t that closely related. Herons are part of Ardeidae, with other stabby-faced predatory birds like egrets and bitterns. Cranes are all the way over in Gruidae (I guess… also stabby-faces, but different, okay), and the two families are not even that closely related

That being said, both herons and cranes can, in fact, reach their terrifying knife faces with their weirdo spindly feet!

As I mentioned before, when you think about it, they are technically “birds of prey” - i.e. they are predatory birds. They’re distinguished from the true raptors by not having murder talons to match their murder face. Their “talons” look like they belong on some kind of beautiful, delicate songbird instead of a leggy fish assassin. Not at all suitable for murder.

They can grab with their feet, and will use them for very impressive high-kicks, but their primary “tool” is their beak. Anything that requires manipulation, such as nest-building, hunting, picking something up - their first instinct will be to use their beak.  So I guess my final consensus would be that they could bring something up to their mouth, but they probably wouldn’t.

Making Your Murder Board (or, Creating Fiction Through the Mind Map Method)

Hello, all!

With Camp NaNo quickly approaching, I find myself facing the daunting task of writing two novellas without much of an outline in place. I can’t imagine that I’m the only one in a situation like this, so I thought I’d share one of my favorite methods for organising my stories.

In the past, I’ve certainly been the type to write out a full outline with Roman numerals and topic sentences like it’s a fifth-grade book report from the 1980s.

While I can’t deny that this can be incredibly helpful when it comes to writing specific scenes and keeping timelines in place, it’s a bit too technical when it comes to more grand-scheme ideas that get the plot rolling in the first place. I don’t know about you, but I like to visualise my stories on a large scale before I start getting down and dirty with the details.

Enter the mind map.

I personally like to refer to this as my Murder Board, as it makes me feel like I’m on Criminal Minds and trying to solve the case by connecting all of the little red strings and thumbtacks. It can get pretty involved and can look damn scary depending on how many details you include, but I absolutely swear by it.

This strategy was recommended to me by a friend, and I can’t offer enough praise for it and how much it’s helped me to get my stories on track. If there are any of you out there still struggling with how to string your plot bunnies together in time for writing to start on July 1st, I definitely recommend taking some time to put one of these together.

I’ve illustrated my preferred method below using Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix as an example. As a quick disclaimer, I’m the type of writer that puts a lot of emphasis on character. As such, this method is specific to character and relies heavily on the primary protagonist’s perspective— if your story isn’t particularly character-driven, this exact method may not work for you. I still strongly advise giving it a shot, as you never know what sort of details will be uncovered as you work on putting together a map.

With that in mind, let’s begin! (I apologise in advance for the quality of the photos— my camera isn’t the best)

The world is kinder to pretty women and that’s always going to sting.

As a girl with ADHD, Little Witch Academia continues to strike a chord with me with the portrayal of Akko.

Akko not only displays common traits that come with ADHD, she also has to deal with the problems often caused by these traits. She’s hyperactive, she says things before thinking, she struggles to be able to focus/she becomes too focused, she displays time and time again struggles to learn things the “traditional way”. And as Episode 16 kinda shoved in our faces, she is impatient.

While “genki” characters aren’t that uncommon in anime, they are usually comical relief side characters or characters that can somehow lose their ADHD-related flaws when the situation needs it.

I feel LWA has had a more nuanced, more realistic depiction of this “genki” archetype than many other series. Like how they tackle the issue with learning difficulties and assuming everyone learns in the same way. I can imagine that many others with ADHD have been in a situation similar to Akko in episode 7, with Professor Finneran berating her for her lack of progress. But Akko’s struggle to learn isn’t entirely caused by herself. A big part of it is because of the teachers’ unwillingness to understand that Akko may need to be taught in different ways compared to other students. However, Professor Ursula acknowledges this and stands up for Akko (sadly, not everyone with learning difficulties had a “Professor Ursula” to stand up for them in real life).

Something that makes me sad is when people call Akko “insufferable” or something similar. I feel like these people fail to understand Akko’s problems. While, no, she should not get away with hurtful things she does to others, I think it might be easy to forget something: Akko is not an adult.

Akko is still just starting to realize her shortcomings and how to deal with them. She doesn’t fully understand herself yet, and why she struggles with certain things. She may not always realize that her behavoiur can hurt others around her.

This also means that her problems will not just stop, just because she realized how to deal with it. As an example, she will not now suddenly stop becoming impatient after episode 16. She will most likely be able to tell herself to calm down more often now, but not every time.

Character development doesn’t mean a characters flaws disappear entirely, and especially not for a character with ADHD traits.

Please Watch “Orange”

Ok everyone. I’m sure some of you have probably heard of this anime, and those people who have heard of it have probably strayed away from it for the same reasons I did.

I am a huge fan of romance anime. I’m basically addicted to anything involving love, but I was weary of this show, called “Orange,” because (1) you learn from within the first few minutes of the first episode that the love interest is going to die, (2) it looks really cliché, (3) it is not very popular, and (4) it looks sad.

I was wrong. So very wrong.

(1) Yes, the anime has its bleak, raw moments, but those moments were the ones that I never had anticipated that I would appreciate the most. Something that definitely became an admirable point of the anime was its very real, non-sugar-coated portrayal of depression, mental illness, suicide, and grief. This series does what most shojou romance series shy away from and actually shows the audience what depression is like through Kakeru, the fated-to-die protagonist, and the seriousness of suicide.

As someone who has personally battled with clinical depression for years and has been to therapy and counselling, this anime hit home for me. The faking smiles, pretending everything is okay, the self-loathing, thinking you are at fault, thinking you are a burden to others, denying yourself happiness, not allowing yourself forgiveness, and the thoughts of death; they are all things that I could relate to. They even included how you can still experience moments of true happiness even if you are depressed, but how it never really goes away. Sure, this anime might not be as light-hearted as others, but it’s the heart-rending instances in this show that give it so much impact and substance.

(2) This anime does have some clichés (i.e. cultural festival, giving chocolates on Valentines Day, new kid at school sits next to the main character), but the plot completely colors these events in ways that make them so much more meaningful and different than you have ever seen them. One of my main concerns going into this show was that I would be bored, but I ended up watching it all in one sitting simply because of how much I needed to know what would happen. Additionally, the secondary characters are wonderfully fleshed out and are actually important to the plot, instead of feeling like accessories.

(3) I know this anime was based off of a manga (which I had once picked up on a whim, but put down once I saw how sad it was probably going to be), but I have never heard people talk about it, like ever. Even when the show came out (which it did recently), there was no buzz about it. Although the lack of chatter surrounding Orange only made me more pessimistic regarding the quality of the show, if there is anything I have learned from watching hundreds of anime, it is that sometimes good shows can fly beneath the radar. I am glad I decided to pick it up after it’s completion and give it a chance, because I just found a series that has easily earned a spot on my top 10 list.

(4) Is this anime sad? Yes. Is it too sad to watch? No. The biggest obstacle that stood in my way for this show was the fact that it pretty much promised from the get-go to be sad. “But love is supposed to be happy and have a happy ending,” you might say, “so how can that be possible when one of the protagonists is destined to commit suicide.” I don’t want to spoil it, so all I can tell you is that I was very pleased with the conclusion and it ends much differently than you are lead to believe it will. Trust me guys. My heart is made of glass. I would not recommend this show to anyone if I didn’t think the denouement was really good

So, in conclusion, set aside a few hours one day and let this series show you its magic!

i mean, throughout history so many things change but i like how there are so many things that we as modern viewers just relate to effortlessly? whether it’s a 3000 year old burnt cooking pot or that sumerian clay tablet where a customer complains about the wrong grade of copper being delivered. like you look at this thing that is almost 4000 years old and ‘aw, it’s just like that bad amazon review i left!’ or that roman soldier’s letter where he’s basically ‘british weather sucks balls can u pls send me warm socks’. like, underneath the hugely different ways people lived back then, their massively different beliefs, the fact they lived under long-gone empires and spoke dead languages…there’s still always that thread of continuity because it’s just so human. i love it.

How to take notes from a textbook

Knowing what to and what not to write down from a textbook is a often an issue when studying. Should I include this or is that completely necessary? Hopefully these few tips will help anyone struggle to use their textbook!

  • Read the textbook prior to taking notes - This helps give you a solid understanding of the material so you can summarise and shorten your notes. Have a good understanding is great to help shorten your notes, since you can avoid copying the menial information.
  • Highlight some key points, terms and concepts before taking notes - Remember not to over-highlight, keep it brief and minimal; key words, facts, and statistics!
  • Have a colour coding system - This helps to visualise your notes when trying to memorise information and also makes your notes more effective material to learn from. Making sure you’re using the same colours for highlighting your textbook and writing your notes. My colour coding system can be found here.
  • Use the layout of the textbook to organise your notes - I found copying the headings and subheadings really helped simplify and ensure I was learning each section. It’s much easy to find information when you’re skimming through notes. This also ensures that you can remember what topic areas relate to others, meaning you can add more into your essays under exam conditions!
  • Include different ways to show the information - Use mindmaps, bullet points, graphs, flow chats, and post-it notes to help visualise the content. Breaking up your notes with graphics is a good way to avoid full pages of writing and great for memorising statistics or key elements of a topic.
  • Supplement your notes - Use other textbooks and your own research to expand the depth of your notes. This is highly important for subjects that can require evidence, statistics and evaluations. Making sure this information is embedded into your notes is great for writing essays.
  • Add your own personal touch - Add doodles, acronyms, and abbreviations to help your study. Little things that make important information unique and standout will help you recall it later!
  • Summarise each chapter - Make a final summary of each chapter using sticky notes or flash cards. Once you’ve read your textbook, you’ll have a collection of chapter summaries ready to study from.

Each of these tips have helped me recreate notes that are well-rounded and full of brief but useful information. I hope this information helps. Let me know if it does!

give me real characters with adhd. characters to which their disorder is not used as a joke but as a part of their character. characters who have flaws but also many talents. characters who are actually impacted by their adhd. give me a representation who does not rely on “oh shiny!” to bring across that this character could be read as having adhd. could. be. read. as. having. adhd. enough of that.

give me a character who is explicit with their adhd on screen. show me their struggles and let them be themselves. let them be affected by it as much as i am, let them find ways to use it to their advantage while still struggling to cope.
let me for once find a character who i can relate to on a different level.

enough of making fun of this fairly serious disorder, more accurate representation instead. realize that it is not something which magically disappears over night. do not introduce me to the slight chance of a possibility if you have no intention of following up on it. it is long term and a few possible seconds of screen time will never do it justice.

give me a character who takes medication for it, give me a character who refuses to do so, give me a character who is primarily inattentive, primarily hyperactive or combined. give me a character who is heavily impacted by the symptoms and another who manages to get by just fine. give me variety.

most importantly, give me real characters with adhd.

#kdramawomensweek: day 8 // age of youth love-fest | happy international women’s day!

So I pretty much put together some of my favorite scenes from Age of Youth. They’re all scenes that really hit me hard emotionally or just personally resonated with me. When Jin Myung, whose feelings have slowly been bubbling underneath the surface, finally overflows with emotion, full of rage and agony. She finally demands the apology she’s been silently asking for. When she fell to the floor in sobs, I cried with her. I felt that grief. When Yi Na realizes she’s been holding herself back and finally lets herself go. Dammit, that scene just hit me. When Eun Jae blows up and just begs for the housemates to be nice to her I could personally relate to her pain and just how nervous she must have felt to finally let that out and tell these almost strangers how alienated they made her feel and how much it had hurt her. That’s not easy.

As you can see, most of my favorite scenes include the girls all together. The relationship that developed between these girls, different in pretty much every way, from being strangers just living in a house together to sisters that loved and protected each other in any way they could was really the main strength of the show. Even that hilarious scene when the girls beat up Eun Jae’s boyfriend because they think he’s some stranger out to hurt her shows just how willing they are to protect each other. I mean, they burst out of the house the second they heard Eun Jae scream. The girls immediately went to comfort Ye Eun when she finally broke up with a boyfriend she loved so much. And when Eun Jae finally comes home after being out all night, the girls just hug her, saying that everything is okay because she’s here and she’s safe. I’m tearing up just thinking of the scene. That love for each other that made them one of the best friendships of 2016 and just in general.

What I love about the girls individual stories is the journey they went through during the drama and where they ended up. They don’t end the drama suddenly complete and whole, but you know they’ve set themselves on that track. They learn to start forgiving and loving themselves. The ghosts they’ve lived with are never completely gone but they’re not held back and tortured by them anymore.

Anyway, what I really want to say is that I love these girls so so so so so much. There’s really nothing I can say that can convey the amount of love I have for this drama and the Belle Epoque girls. It warms my heart when I think of them and I’m just so happy there’s going to be a season 2.

firerulezz116  asked:

I'm guessing that it's going to be explained, but if not, I'm guessing Alphys sent warning to Asgore and he absorbed the souls? Also, I assume the red from Sans was DT, like/from when Chara stabbed his socket with the DT knife?

Nope! This is just the way ASGORE attacks in game, His main weapon being made of RED magic

but he also has 2 special attacks, his BLUE attack (Which you must stay still for)

And his ORANGE attack (that you have to move to avoid damage)

Can’t really say why he has 3 different magic colors but it’s really cool (Probably related to the whole boss monster thing)

Imagine Mary realizing both of her sons, Sam and Dean, are in love with the same girl, you. (Part 2)

“You are really close.” a soft voice said but you still almost jumped. You turned around to face Mary and let a soft chuckle.

“Did I scare you?” she asked and you gave her a sheepish smile.

“For a hunter my instincts are always fast asleep.” you said with a laugh “Much to Dean’s dismay. He’s taught me a lot of things but I always seem to do the wrong thing, can’t understand how he can be so patient.”

“He’s not usually.” she said with a small shrug as she took a sit on one of the chairs in the kitchen.

“I have noticed yeah, I guess.” you sai with a small shrug.

“He’s patient with you… and a lot of other things that he usually isn’t.” she noted and you were too occupied to notice the voice tone when she said the words.

“I think?” you gave her a shy smile “I just- we’re close, that’s all. Maybe I get to see a few other sides in him.”

“Only him?” she asked with a frown and you stopped for a moment to look at her blinking “I mean-” he started again “I haven’t been around for very long but- I just noticed that you and Dean and Sam are really… comfortable around each other. You really are a family.” for lack of better words.

You smiled just slightly at the thought of the Winchesters “They are my family Mary. I know that there might not be any blood relation but- but Sam, Dean and Cas are all I’ve got. I lost my family to some vampires and I would have died to if it wasn’t for your sons. That was about ten years ago and we’ve been through heaven and hell together. Literally.” you breathed out.

“They care about you a lot, I can see it.” she said in a low voice and you looked down shyly.

“I- I care about both of them a lot too.” somehow you didn’t understand how you separated them from Cas because the way you cared about them was completely different.

“I’m glad about that, I always wanted someone to look after them and… love them the way you do.”

“I’m not doing anything special, Mary.” you said honestly “It comes naturally, I can’t help it. They’ve done so much for me that I just- it’s impossible to not love them, considering who they are.” yu shrugged and she nodded her head.

“I know that, I know. I just-” he bit on her lower lip for a moment “I was wondering if- I don’t want to intrude or something I just thought that- do you probably see them or any of them any… different?”

“Different? How?” you blinked, although part of you already knew what she was trying to say.

Mary was ready to say something but all words got caught in her throat when she saw her two sons enter the kitchen. They both gave her a kiss on the cheek and greeted her but before they could exchange a ew words they noticed you standing there, ready to prepare dinner and jumped at the opportunity to help.

“Hey what were you talking about?” Dean asked in a low voice as he glanced at Castiel sitting next to Mary and getting into a conversation with her.

“It was-” you paused for a moment, biting your lower lip in thought “It was nothing. Just an easy chat, nothing special.”

“You sure?” Sam asked and you glanced at him, smiling the exact same smile you gave to Dean.

“Yeah, Sammy. Don’t sweat it, casual girl stuff you two giants can’t understand.” you gave him a wink as he grabbed some of the ingredients still needed.

“I mean I can’t but not even Samantha?” Dean asked with a tilt of his head, raising an eyebrow and you snickered.

“Funny much.” Sam rolled his eyes “Hey Deanna, next time period cramps start don’t ask me to go get you all the chocolate I can find.” he said with a smirk, reminding you of a particularly fun case and Dean only scoffed at him.

“I won’t.” he shrugged, wrapping two arms protectively around you “I have (Y/n) for that, at least I can understand her better than you do.” he said in a childish way and you rolled your eyes laughing at them.

“Come on girls, don’t get your panties in a twist. We got dinner to prepare.” you joked, pushing Dean away with your buttas he smirked at you.

“Oh are we getting some action baby? Not here, let’s go get a room first.” he smirked at you and you rolled your eyes at how flirty he was.

“Can we get to cooking already?” Sam asked with a bitch face and you smiled at his obvious attempt and fail to hide his jealousy. You leaned up and pecked his cheek without a warning – but wait did you ever really warn them? - and nodded your head.

“Sam’s right, as much as I love you too goofballs my stomach really needs the food right now. And it’s that much I could almost chose it over you right now.” you said with chuckle, eyes focused on the task at hand and therefore you were unable to see the smiles that spread on both men’s faces.

“Mary” Castiel’s soft voice made the woman avert her eyes from the sight in front of her. Of course she’d heard the small word and of course unlike you she had not failed to see her sons’ smiles. They were so much alike not just between the two of them but also to that John had when she told him the first time that she loved him.

She knew that this wasn’t the first time you were saying the small word, she’d heard you say to Dean once and althoughshe hadn’t heard a thing she didn’t doubt you’d spoken it to Sam too. Maybe they didn’t say it back but she could see they wanted to and she could see crystal clear from their smiles that they felt it too.

She sighed, looking back at the angel “I’m sorry Castiel, I am just too occupied-”

“Thinking? Yeah, I noticed that. Is everything alright?” he asked with a small adorable frown and she sighed.

“I’m afraid that my answer will be no different from yesterday Castiel.” she looked down at her hands, shaking her head with a frown.

“Are you still worried that they might-”

“That’s the thing Cas.” she cut him off gently “It’s not a might, there is no single doubt about it anymore. I mean, look at the way they look at her. Look at the way they smile after she told them she loves them, they-” she felt her throat close and shook her head, rubbing her forehead.

“It’s… quiet complicated.” Castiel only said in a low voice as he watched you and the Winchesters too occupied with chatting and cooking to care to listen to anything else. It always seemed to be like this, whether you were with one or both of the two men you seemed to not have eyes for anything else. Your full attention was on him/them and nobody else.

“Complicated doesn’t even begin to cover it.” she said “And I don’t even know where to stand, Castiel.”

“What do you mean?”

“I always looked forward to this day, to see them smile like this: happy and without a single worry even if it was for just an hour. Because that would mean they’d found their own heaven in the woman they loved but now- what kind of heaven is this Castiel? How could any of them ever really be happy knowing that the other is actually in hell because of what is going on.”

“They’re strong, they- they will work it out.”

“Can it be worked out? I mean Castiel as a mother I only want them to be happy but- now I can’t have that because either way one of them will end up hurt. How am I supposed as a mother to stand seeing even one of my sons hurt like that? I always knew something like this would happen I just- I never wished for it to be exactly like this.”

“Their fate has been sealed long ago, Mary. You can’t blame yourself for that.”

“But I could do something- I should do. The moment I brought Sam as a baby back home from the hospital I saw that the bond they had started to develop would be the strongest one but- but I fear it, Cas. I fear that the bond I saw them develope years ago will be put to the test and I can’t stand to watch it.”

“Mary it’s their decision to make, it’s not your fault.” he tried to reassure her.

“It is but I- I am scared of that decision, Cas. Whatever it is we know that both of them will hurt one way or another. Their lives had been sealed ever since Dean first held Sam in his arms, they were tied and whatever choice one makes the other will face the consequences. One is meant to sacrifice for the other every time and vice versa- how can a mother deal with that Castiel?”

How?
