soulmate! Jun (pt.2)

anon ask:  HELLO I REaLLY LOVE YOUR SOULMATE AUS SO CAN I REQUEST A JUN & JEONGHAN PART 2? I LOVE YOUR WRITING SO MUCH OMG ALDJJDKSKS

Admin note: AWWW TYSM LOVELY OFC YOU CAN. Jun’s was the first one we did, so both Seri and I love Jun’s soulmate au, it’s our baby, it’s iconic, lol. THANKS FOR REQUESTING AND HOPE YOU ENJOY. (might low key hint about the other part two’s who knows;)

recap: where your soulmate’s first words are tattooed on your arm (part one)

  • Jun likes to tease you
  • ever since that rainy night when you finally met him
  • finally met your soulmate
  • and everything suddenly fell in place and made sense
  • he just refuses
  • to give you back that extra umbrella you gave to him as you spoke the words tattooed on his arm
  • as often you’re over at the dance studio hanging out with him
  • or even the occasional times you’re at the dorm just chilling
  • he never brings up your umbrella, or when he might return it
  • and that’s fine, you don’t really need it
  • but he said he’d return it eventually and he hid it for now, which was just driving you crazy
  • “Jun, this is like the fifth time y/n, has checked the living room for the umbrella.” Minghao says laughing as you turn red and stop your rummaging through the couch cushions
  • “It’s not that I refuse to give it back- … actually no that's exactly what it is” Jun says from the kitchen shooting you a wink
  • turning even more pink you say
  • “Wen Junhui, what is your deal with not giving me back my umbrella!?!?”
  • “It just reminds me of you and how lucky I got that night for having lost rock, paper, scissors.” he says shrugging
  • which shuts you right up as you stare down at your feet, blushing again
  • “I’m still here guys, I didn’t need to throw-up my dinner.” Minghao says rolling his eyes
  • walking out of the kitchen Jun says
  • “Jealous?” as he wraps an arm around your waist to pull you closer to him
  • leaving the both of you a giggling mess and blushing like fools
  • “MINGYU, THEY’RE DOING THAT WEIRD GIGGLNG TOGETHER THING AGAIN!”
  • Mingyu comes out of the bathroom armed with a broom to shoo you and Jun out of the dorm so you can stop infesting the place with the “love bugs”
  • as Mingyu calls the two of you
  • granted, you and Jun have been a couple for a while
  • he was the first of Svt to meet his soulmate
  • and wasted no time making it clear to everyone in Seventeen that you two were together
  • you both were the couple that everyone would have assumed had been dating forever
  • you might as well have been called that “old married couple”
  • with your random tickle fights when everyone was trying to enjoy their movie
  • “Really?!?!? Do the two of you have to do that now?”
  • “Keep your hands to yourself, guys we get it, you’re dating.”
  • “Making skin ship 24/7 is NOT NECESSARY.”
  • going shopping together not only for clothes but for random crap for your apartment or his dorm room
  • like that vase of fake orchids that now sits on top of your night stand
  • or this striped dress shirt you called him cute in
  • you also get asked a lot of relationship questions
  • since you’ve been dating the longest and you've been around for when all the others found their soulmates
  • “Do you know where I can get a stuffed animal bunny, y/n?” Joshua asks
  • “What place has the best flowers?” Vernon asks you
  • “I want to do something special, what’s a good date idea?”
  • which low key triggers Jun
  • “Ok, if any of them come to you for advice with how to deal with their soulmates, tell them to get lost because you’re too busy spending time with me and they need to get their own experience.” Jun says playfully with a pout while sitting next to you on the floor against the practice room’s mirrors
  • “They really shouldn’t ask me, I probably don’t know any better.” you say with a laugh
  • “Good, once they realize you’re bad at giving relationship advice, they’ll leave you alone that way I can spend more time with the most beautiful person in the whole universe.” he said cutely giving a small nod of his head
  • “Yah! My advice is solid!” you say playfully smacking his arm
  • “Is it really?” he says jokingly earning another smack on the arm from you
  • dates generally end up him ordering coffee from your café
  • and the two of you walking around taking pictures
  • you often have Jun model for you
  • even though you can’t post or use any pictures of him
  • there was something about the way he held himself when posing in front of the camera
  • that you just had to capture it in all its glory
  • Jun himself is art
  • he always convinces you to pose a few times too while he takes pictures
  • of course the selca master
  • the two of you take a lot of selcas together, you have a whole folder on your phone dedicated to selcas with him, and you’re each other’s home screens
  • “Sorry I can’t use you for my lock screen, but the other members would  tease us forever, and I’d rather preserve your sanity.”
  • lately though, all of Svt are really busy with their upcoming concerts and activities
  • and so you just low key try to stay out of their way
  • you’ll be working at the cafe across the street from their studio and catch yourself staring up at the window where you know they’re probably rehearsing
  • and perfect timing
  • Jun texts a simple “I miss you”
  • which nearly makes you spill the Americano you were making to smile down at your phone
  • before your manager asks what you’re smiling at, is making coffee funny all of a sudden?
  • and not seeing Jun everyday was a bit sad
  • you haven’t been feeling all that well either, though you’re not sure if it’s the stress of making coffee or trying to maintain your grades
  • since Jun is often busy rehearsing, you both stay up late face-timing
  • him telling you cute little stories about the members
  • and you telling him about your day
  • even if the both of you are exhausted
  • you don’t mind staying up to talk even if the both of you sometimes fall asleep on the phone
  • you especially like the story of how they burst into the locked bathroom to wish him a happy birthday
  • but for a college photography major
  • you need your sleep
  • and the late night call sessions weren’t helping your health
  • which is probably how you ended up in bed
  • with a horrible cold
  • and your brain pounding against your skull
  • “I welcome death” you groan taking another painkiller before flopping back onto your sofa bed in front of the TV
  • since money is tight and you like sleeping in the living room anyway
  • your bed is the sofa bed that folds outward
  • you fall asleep watching a drama and wake up to 267 messages
  • “Yah! Y/n! Your manager told me you took the day off? Are you sick?” Jun’s contact picture and messages are the ones that stand out the most amongst others
  • “Noona, are you ok? Jun-hyung is freaking out.”
  • “Yah, y/n pick up so Jun can stop annoying us all with his worrying.”
  • “DID YOU DIE WHY AREN’T YOU PICKING UP?!?!?”
  • “I’m really sorry if we’re being annoying but please come collect your boyfriend.”
  • the struggles of being a soulmate to one of the members of svt?
  • all 13 of them will get your phone number, and rip if you don’t have a good data plan
  • you can’t help but smile a bit to yourself as you scroll through all your notifications
  • when an incoming call from Jun lights up your cell
  • you reeeeeeeaally don’t want him to worry, so you start panicking and debating whether to answer
  • he needs to focus on rehearsing and avoid worrying about you
  • but you pick up anyway
  • and hearing his voice was enough to stop the incessant headache thank the lord
  • “Jun?” curse you and your dead sounding voice, you regret answering and omg he’s going to panic so much and
  • “I’M OUTSIDE YOUR APARTMENT COME OPEN THE DOOR”
  • “How’d you get here Jun you have rehearsals?!?”
  • “Your manager said you were sick and so naturally I went to buy you soup, rehearsals ended like ten minutes ago.”
  • “Aw babe, that’s nice but HOW DID YOU GET MY ADDRESS?!??”
  • he chuckles into the phone
  • “I didn’t even ask your manager for it, he says he’s seen me before and asked why I wasn't  home taking care of you and why I don’t know your address yet even though we’re married.”
  • “HE WHAT?”
  • “He thought we were married.” you can hear Jun dying from laughter
  • “Remind me not to murder my manager, cuz then I wouldn’t get paid.”
  • “I mean, I’m ok with him thinking that we’re married.”
  • “Yah! Wen Junhui!”
  • “It’s cold hurry open the door!”
  • you drag yourself up with the five blankets wrapped around your shoulders not caring they drag on the floor to open the door
  • when you open the door, he stands there thinking you’re just the cutest thing ever with your nose red and so many blankets wrapped around you
  • he’s about to hug you
  • “STOP”
  • “What why?” he says giving you the cutest little frowny face
  • “I don’t want you to get sick too!”
  • “I don’t care let me take care of you.” he pouts cutely, knowing if he acts cute enough he might just get through to you
  • not toooodaaaaaay
  • “Wen Junhui we all know you’ll cry and blame me for weeks if you so much as sneeze once.” you tease him trying to laugh before you sneeze into your elbow
  • “Ok, yes that might be true, but I went out to buy soup so I have the right to stay.”
  • he looks at you standing barefoot by the door with several blankets wrapped around you, some of it dragging on the floor
  • holding up the soup, he gives you a cheeky wink
  • “The soup’s hot but I’m hotter.”
  • you groan, rolling your eyes, but smiling as you playfully throw a pillow at his face
  • “Hey that’s violence!”
  • it misses, Jun’s dodge could only be described as elegant
  • “Hey if I spill soup on the carpet, you have to clean it up not me.”
  • “How is this supposed to make me feel better?” you tease him, sneezing again and settling back down on the sofa bed with your mountain of blankets
  • “No, clearly I came here to annoy you.” he chuckles
  • you watch as he looks around your kitchen for a bowl
  • he pours out the soup and sets the steaming bowl at the dinner table
  • and before you can protest
  • he picks you up into his arms and carries you over to the table
  • then he sits down across from you with a smirk on his face noticing the gentle blush creeping up your face
  • “I know I’ve been busy lately, so I wanted to do something for you. And aren’t boyfriends supposed to take care of their other half when they’re sick?” he says hiding his shy smile behind his hand
  • you sit there, your heart racing from his words
  • “Hurry and eat! I’m not leaving until you finish.”
  • what a liar
  • he didn’t leave your side at all that night
  • insisting on carrying you back to bed and snuggling up against you despite your protests he might get sick
  • you both fell asleep like that
  • you wrapped around his arms, blankets piled around the two of you
  • until his phone blasts a loud alarm in the morning
  • Jun jumps up, almost falling off the sofa bed and you look at the time, before realizing
  • “JUN WERE YOU HERE ALL NIGHT?!?!”
  • “I FELL ASLEEP OK?”
  • “MAN THE OTHERS ARE GOING TO FREAK”
  • “AT LEAST YOU DON’T LIVE WITH THEM, I’M NEVER GOING TO HEAR THE END OF THIS.”
  • his phone starts buzzing and when he answers the call you can hear people screaming even though Jun’s phone isn’t on speakers
  • “WEN JUNHUI I EXPECTED MORE FROM YOU”
  • “You’re not as in innocent as we thought hyung!!!”
  • “I’ll fight you boy, if you did anything to y/n, Junhui.”
  • “WE DIDN’T DO ANYTHING.” Jun yells back into the phone while trying not to laugh
  • you throw another pillow at him
  • “STOP SMILING IS THIS FUNNY?”
  • “WAS THAT Y/N PUT HER ON THE PHONE I WANT ANSWERS!”
  • “I’LL BE BACK IN A BIT!” Jun yells before hanging up and immediately throwing his phone onto the sofa bed
  • “Ok so on the bright side, doesn’t look like they’re angry at you, but on the not so bright side I’M DEAD.”
  • “If it makes you feel any better, I don’t feel too sick anymore.”
  • “GREAT BUT NOW I FEEL SICK.”
  • Jun laughs and grabs your arm dragging you into a hug
  • “You can’t escape, you have to come explain things to them for me so I can walk around with my head intact pleeeeeeease????”
  • he wraps you up in his sweatshirt before the two of you head out to go back to the studio
  • walking into the studio, the both of you grip each other’s hands tightly anticipating the worst
  • “What if they actually kill me, y/n, I’ve got a lot of things to say to you though.” Jun says eyes wide and alert
  • “So do I Jun, but let’s discuss this if we do make it out alive.”
  • you both walk in to the practice room to twelve boys staring into your souls
  • RIP
  • an hour of screaming later
  • though honestly it was mostly them laughing and yelling and poking Jun every once in a while
  • they let the two of you leave, satisfied with their interrogation
  • “Jun-hyung, be good while we’re gone”
  • “No anything 19+ in the practice room, we need it for rehearsals.”
  • “Y/n is precious and innocent, if he tries anything, y/n, just give us a call.”
  • “Oh my god just get out!” Jun says flustered and shooing them away
  • ever since that incident
  • Jun and you never tell Svt when the two of you are going on a date
  • “You sure you can’t change your number, I’m ok with them not contacting you” Jun says over ramen at the convenience store on the corner looking dead serious
  • you stir your ramen and laugh
  • “No unfortunately, some of their soulmates know where I work, I’d never be able to escape.”
  • “Aish, them convincing their soulmates to work on the side of evil.”
  • “They’re all really sweet and pretty though, some of us hang out as friends now because of all of you, should we form an idol group too?”
  • “When would you guys debut?” he laughs
  • “I was joking, all of us can only take so much Svt craziness you know.”
  • “You love us though.”
  • “True”
  • “And they’re pretty, but you’re the prettiest.”
  • “Omo stop Junhui, you’ll actually make me laugh.”
  • “Last night, I had to convince Minghao not to tell them I was getting dinner with you because he caught me sneaking out, and now I have to do his laundry for a week.”
  • “Thanks for your noble sacrifice.”
  • “I know right, the things I do for you”
  • the two of you should be aspiring food critics
  • you’ve both been to almost every Chinese restaurant in Seoul
  • just because you know he likes spicy food
  • and try everything
  • him occasionally just staring at you
  • until you shove more food on his plate to get him to stop
  • you of course taking pictures of the food to post on SNS
  • yes, you’re that person at restaurants
  • standing on chairs to get a good shot
  • with Jun standing behind you, arms ready to catch you if you lose balance
  • and as the both of you walk back to the studio after a dinner date
  • it starts raining
  • and you’re silently cursing yourself for not checking the weather forecast when leaving your apartment earlier
  • but Jun magically pulls out the umbrella you gave him the night you met him and opens it above the both of you
  • “Oh my god, see, you knew exactly where it was and yet never gave it back.”
  • “Mian, I had to hold onto it.”
  • “Why?”
  • “It felt like a dream, meeting you. I had to make sure it wasn’t a dream, so I kept it as physical proof.”
  • you stop walking and face him as he stops too, still holding the umbrella above the both of you
  • “That’s hecka cheesy.” you say grinning
  • “Yea well, I’m naturally cheesy.”
  • “No, you’re cute and sweet and romantic.”
  • “Nah, you’re cute.”
  • you both stand staring at each other a little longer, near the dance studio
  • “Well, I’ll give it back tonight.”
  • “Why? Don’t need it anymore?”
  • “Nope, because now I know it wasn’t a dream. And every time I need proof, I’ll just look for you.”
  • and he lifts your chin up and kisses you softly, the sound of rain pattering around you
  • it’s not cold though, no, the warm feeling from the gentle kiss is enough to keep the cold rainy night’s cold away from the both of you
  • you don’t recall how long the both of you stay like that
  • but when you finally pull away
  • he gives you a cute smile while tilting his head
  • and gives you a wink
  • “OH MY FREAKING GOD FINALLY!”
  • shocked the two of you turn around to see Svt staring at the two of you from the front doors of the studio
  • “Children, it’s 10 o'clock, way past curfew.”
  • “Mingyu, you owe me ten bucks, I told you he’d kiss her first.”
  • “Man, I really thought she would be the one to do it.”
  • “YAH! YOU’RE ALL DEAD”
  • “Shi- run!”
  • and you laugh as Jun and you chase the scattering svt members out into the rain
  • all thoughts of getting soaked or catching a cold lost in your moment of happiness

hi, could you please explain the exchange dan had with that guy on twitter yesterday because i didn't get it at all. i didn't understand the tween comment this guy made and i wasn't sure whether that was due to me not being a native speaker of English or just not understanding some reference / inside joke. it did seem mean and offensive to me but ??? also the watermelon gif?

Can you elaborate on the music reviewer twitter thing

what happened with the music reviewer?

Can you plz explain Dan’s whole twitter thing about ARCA cause I didn’t really understand theneedledr*p’s response thanks:)

why are you making such a big deal of the Anthony/theneedledr*p exchange??? it was just a joke. and like i get it humor is subjective you’re allowed to criticize free speech and all that but it’s kind of a silly thing to get mad over don’t you think?

sure. dan likes an artist called arca, a venezuelan producer who makes incredible music tbh and who pushes the envelope a lot w innovative electronic production and who’s also openly queer and incorporates queer themes into his music. he works a lot w fka twigs and has gained a strong following through those collaborations. arca has recently put out a few tracks from his upcoming solo album. dan liked one of those songs, called reverie, and tweeted anthony (theneedledr*p) to include that song in his weekly roundup of best songs of the week (and that if anthony didn’t, he, dan, would unsubscribe). ha ha ha all in good fun, just some nerdy bants between two pretentious music fans. cool. anthony responded, however, by saying that dan should show how much he actually likes arca and his music by getting “all the tween girls” that watch him to go listen to reverie and watch the music video. in that statement he makes many frankly insulting assumptions: first, that all of dan’s viewers are tween girls. second, that dan can’t talk about his actual interests with tween girls and that he represents himself disingenuously to his audience. third, that tween girls wouldn’t be into or understand arca’s new song/mv. it’s just a lovely reiteration of the oldest fucking stereotype in the book which is that young girls are stupid and shallow and, crucially, monolithic–they can’t have diverse or complex interests. they are all the same. they only fangirl over simple entertainment, and their opinions, as a result, are less valid and deserve less respect. pretty fucked all-around. then dan responded with a gif of the watermelon which even i don’t entirely understand but generally anthony is called ‘melon’ by his followers and i suppose the gif suggests that dan is fighting back in some way by showing a watermelon being sliced up. it’s a bit vague.

to the last anon: i’m not sure how i made a “big deal” about this. i wrote about my distaste for this exchange in a tag on a post i reblogged. my critique was like less than 10 words. but you’ve sort of inspired me to make a bigger deal out of it than i did then bc to be frank, this whole shitty attitude that men have towards young girls and their interests DESERVE to be called out, DESERVE to be described for what they are. they’re prejudiced and reductive and misogynistic. and they place pressure on insecure dudes like dan to cater his content to a mythical (partially imagined) audience of straight boys whose opinions he inadvertently values more because of the fact he hears this shit from other straight men around him–people whom he respects and considers peers. he hears people demonizing the stereotype of a “fangirl” and looks at his audience and takes those fangirls less seriously as a result. i mean, i think dan does a good job NOT invalidating fangirls or lumping them all together and stereotyping them actively, for the most part, but he himself has talked about these straight male viewers who expect certain quality from his dinof content and that that is the reason he couldn’t upload a vid of pastel edits onto dinof or a video of him and phil painting each others’ nails. he feels that straight male gaze even if he doesn’t directly talk shit about fangirls on the flip side, and he allows the pressure of their expectations to dictate the videos he makes–i don’t think it’s reaching to guess that those expectations are even a large part of why it takes him so long to make videos. he says in his diss track himself that he procrastinates videos because he’s afraid of being judged. but he knows “fangirls” love him, so who is he afraid of being judged by? the edgy straight guys. i’m angry bc all of this latent sexism is dumb and harmful as fuck and to reiterate:

  1. not all of dan’s audience is female
  2. not all of dan’s audience is young
  3. not all of dan’s young, female audience blindly loves him and everything he makes
  4. there are for sure young females who like “good” “artistic” musicians like arca
  5. even the ones who don’t like arca don’t deserve to be made fun of and stereotyped for liking what they like
  6. or to be the target of assumptions that they are less intelligent and less interesting/complex bc theY DONT LIKE WEIRD ALT ELECTRO MUSIC
  7. literally FUCK STRAIGHT DUDES AND TOXIC MASCULINITY OK IMAGINE BEING SO FUCKING FAR UP UR OWN ASS THAT U NEED TO SHIT ON YOUNG GIRLS JUST BC U THINK UR MUSIC TASTE IS SUPERIOR TO EVERYONE ELSES LIEK

i can’t deal. that shit is fucked up and not funny at all, i don’t see how it’s grounds for a “joke” so like ya. i’m mad. idgaf

Okay I'm totally going to need you to convince me how this is going to be okay because right now I actually feel pretty sick. I don't see how they have enough time once they leave the framework for Fitz to deal with this trauma. Fitz has killed a woman now, even if he wasn't aware he was doing it. And if he tortures Daisy, I just don't think I can watch that. To come out and have their happy engagement would be wrong and rushed. When do they get to heal? Where is the payoff???

Hi Anon!  And anyone else who needs this…

Its Going to be Okay!

This story isn’t supposed to be happy or fun, we are in a reality built by a crazy, evil book influenced, programmed by the questionable Dr. Radcliffe, and obsessed with becoming a real girl AIDA here.  She has twisted each and every single character.  Fitz and May more than anyone else.

I’m just going to run down my major points here.  I hope it helps.  Again I am not ashamed to say that I am still enjoying this arc.  Its uncomfortable and frustrating as all get out.  But it has me rooting SO HARD for Fitzsimmons right now.  For the entire team right now.

Fitz partly a distraction:

We all know that something the writers do is the fake out.   They have us looking at and focused on one thing so we literally don’t see the truck that is coming at us from left field.   Season 2 for example.  When Real Shield made their move it looked like they were our big bad of the season, that would be the arc.  When in fact it was Jaiying and the Inhumans that were the bigger threat.  So right now they have the fandom so wrapped up in Fitz….that we are ‘missing’ that thing over in left field about to hit us.  A betrayal is coming guys and its going to hurt.

Fitz has been brainwashed:

This is not our Fitz.  Period.  Iain said at Wondercon that they were two different people.  Two different characters.  Radcliffe said when talking to him, he talked about our Fitz as a different person, because he was.   We saw over and over throughout the episode AIDA manipulate him.  I see things like taking his hand, asking for him to protect her, of vocalizing they are trying to take him from her as the triggers.  You know how we know he’s been brainwashed…how down right TERRIFIED AIDA was of Radcliffe talking to him.  That Jemma was taken out of the picture even before she could be a factor in his life.  That AIDA boasted that she had manipulated this world and those in it to meet her needs and wants.  Yes, she fixed a regret but each regret built on her fantasy.

With Fitz this goes well beyond fixing a regret.  I still believe that initially making him the son his father wanted was just step one in AIDA’s process.  AIDA took him as her own.

Everyone is Dark:

We’re not done yet here guys.  We have more oh please no moment coming with everyone coming.   And yes, Fitz is one of the most drastically different and one they are making sure to highlight but I am uncomfortable with everyone.

  • Coulson:  Yes he’s breaking thanks to Tahiti but he still let Hydra take off with one of his own students.  The big reason I think we have Coulson back is he is getting that “you did make a difference/Shield needs you arc here”.   Mace is not the leader that Shield needs…he wasn’t in the real world and he won’t be here.
  • Mace:  I am really worried about this version of Mace.   While he is doing the right thing I’m afraid he’s going to do some things in that quest that aren’t good.  Not to mention that he is a massive threat to the lives of May and Fitz.  He will kill either one of them given a chance.  He almost reminds me of Jaiying a little here with the “One of us” comment from the promo especially makes me thing of this.
  • Mack:  He will do ANYTHING to protect his daughter (and low key worried how he found the Resistance so easily here guys).  He sold out Daisy.  But what was very interesting was his view on Inhumans.  When we first met Mack he was ‘against’ them for lack of a better word.  It was work with Daisy, Coulson, and Shield that helped him change his mind and become one of their greatest protectors.
  • May:  Has been twisted as much as Fitz has.  She has been in there the longest.  Gone through the most ‘reboots’ of the Framework.  It was her team that beat up Daisy.  It was her that manipulated Mack using Hope. She is number 3 in Hydra and is a huge threat to her own team as well as a target.
  • Ward:  So leery of Ward.  I really fear Jemma will be who he betrays again.  And its also interesting he could have gotten a shot on Madame Hydra there…#1….instead aimed for Fitz Hydras #2.  Just saying guys…our master manipulators might be at work again here.  For him if it comes down to giving up Jemma to save Skye…he’s going to give up Jemma to save Skye.  Just as Mack gave up Daisy to save Hope.

They are their own worst enemies:

AIDA is likely the worst villain they have gone up against, a horrid culmination of everyone they have faced before.  She isn’t dumb she built this world for HER.  She is using loopholes to her advantage.  Otherwise I firmly feel that everyone but Fitz would already be dead.  So since she had to keep them alive she manipulated (even bragged to Radcliffe that she’d done it) those regrets for her gain.

She also has been in everyone’s heads.  She’s been around the team before. She knows they are the biggest threat to her when they are working together as a team.   So she either split them up or turned them on each other.

She has also made them each others dragons.  It is clear now AIDA is in Madame Hydra.  She knows right where Mace and the Playground is but allows the Resistance to continue because it feeds into the manipulation.  Especially with Fitz, its another thing he has to protect her from.

I discussed in my meta last night that AIDA seems to be trying to make it so the team won’t ‘want’ to save Fitz (more lies, more manipulation).   Here he’s The Doctor, Mace won’t bat and eye if he can kill him  Isn’t going to give Jemma the resources she needs to get him alive.  AIDA has painted Jemma as the villain.  Leaving Jemma pretty much alone now in trying to save him (oh look another parallel).  She has Coulson for now but I’m betting he will be pulled away too soon by saving Daisy or getting to May.

She took Fitz as her own:

A lot of what AIDA has done was to build this world how she wanted.  To get who and what she wanted, and she wanted Fitz.  Someone who would love and protect her.  Made her happy.  Her interaction with Radcliffe very telling.  We said that Fitz treating her like a person would come back…and boy has it ever.  She also wanted someone that loved and protected her like Fitz did with Jemma…so she took Jemma’s place.  May too, she’s ‘rewarded’ May with a high position because I believe May respected her, liked her, called her brave.

But in taking Fitz in so many ways we really do have an epic love story set up here.   Jemma is going to have to fight to get him back.  I feel like part of that whole spectacle on the island with Agnes was for show.  That AIDA knew Jemma was there  set up that whole thing with Agnes so Fitz would see it.  Try to shake Jemma, make her think that he was too far gone,.  It also took away the little support Jemma had found.  Leaving her alone in trying to save him.  AIDA is scared as heck of Jemma and her saving him.

AIDA also doesn’t have him fully yet.   Fitz says he would cross the universe for her but he HAS done it for Jemma.

Fitz is in there:

In the horror of feels that was last night we saw Fitz peeking through more than once.  And every single time we saw it it was because Jemma was in the mix either in person or in a picture.  And only with Jemma, May, Daisy, and Radcliffe had no effect (though Radcliffe planted seeds, very important seeds).

Aside for Coulson who is aided by Tahiti we haven’t seen anyone else ‘break through” at all.

  • May:  Came into contact with Fitz, Daisy, and Mack…nothing.
  • Mace:  Came into contact with Jemma, Mack, and Coulson…nothing.

Engagement is Endgame:

When we look back at interviews from Loeb, Jed, and Mo they have been hinting at this arc all season.  And they have been setting up an engagement for Fitzsimmons all season too.

“This young man as you have never seen him before” that was what Leob said at SDCC and also where we first heard the ‘reward’ talk.  And we have seen them pay off everything so far. And coupled with the timing of Jed’s quote in EW, engagement coming up in 15, hints all season, and getting their middle names.  I think once they are out they aren’t going to risk it again.

“It could happen.  If they ever get back together, that’s something that could happen in their future.”

And I’m sorry to say this but this is TV, A drama at that, we have to jump through all sorts of hoops to get this kind of pay off.  That is part of why we are now tearing our hair out and crying until Jemma gets him back.  And when she does the pay off will be worth it.  Look at what we got after Hogface.

The Fallout:

AOS has never ‘dealt’ with trauma and recovery very well.  Even Daisy’s recovery a victim of the Ghost Rider Arc.  It is often done over hiatus or “off camera.  Now we have a situation where its the whole cast that will have things to deal with.  So yes, we will miss seeing it but because we don’t see it doesn’t mean it won’t happen.

We can also have the healing ‘begin’ in the Framework, especially for Fitz as he helps get everyone out or plays a part in stopping AIDA once as for all.

Sorry that was a lot but I hope it helps.  Just remember its always Darkest before the Dawn and our Sunrise is coming guys.

If you still need prompts to keep you sane maybe fluffy fantasy au enjoltaire? (Idk if you've seen the siren Enjolras and nymph grantaire posts but you can do something along those lines if you want it's up to you) thank you for literally everything you've written because it's amazing and thanks in advance!

I have indeed seen (and loved!) @stopcallingmeapollo‘s myth au! Which actually made it rather a puzzle to come up with my own… But that gave me an excuse to daydream about folklore for days, so thank you so much anon, for your incredibly kind words as well! I hope you’ll like this <3

( @petalparnassee you have given me fresh Scottish lore and now look what happened:)

Grantaire is lying on his stomach on a flat rock that rises just above sea level, his lower half still comfortably in the foamy water. It’s early in the morning yet, the wisps of mist that drew  from the sea towards the shore have barely dissolved. Through the faint haze that is still left Grantaire sees a shape approaching. It’s a black stallion and the gate of his hooves is like poetry itself. Blinking lazily Grantaire watches him approach the shore. He is too familiar with the elegant movements and the proud demeanour to be impressed. The cobbles on the beach skit away or are trampled under the gleaming black hooves and the horse charges straight into the water. Grantaire doesn’t bother to watch the proud head disappear underneath the waves. A moment later there’s a splash of water beside the rock he is resting on and two pale hands grip the edge. Montparnasse pulls himself up out of the water, his dark hair wet and slick against his head.

“Show off,” Grantaire hums.

“Good morning to you too,” Montparnasse snarks. He sits down with his legs crossed.

In the grey light of morning his skin looks even paler than it is, but Grantaire knows the lighting doesn’t matter. Montparnasse will always be annoyingly beautiful.

His grey eyes are staring of into the distance. “I saw someone walking towards the shore,” he says nonchalantly.

Grantaire makes an exasperated sound. “I swear, if I have to rescue one more of your stupid victims I’m telling Jehan.”

Montparnasse makes a tutting sound. “This one isn’t really my type,” he says airily.

“That’ll be a first,” Grantaire grunts. He splashes his heavy tail in the water, making Montparnasse glare.

He ignores the insult however and continues casually: “Too blonde for a start… To loud… To interested in you.”

Grantaire gulps and nearly rolls off the rock.

Montparnasse’s distinctive kelpie laugh sounds loud and neighing across the water.

Enjolras is on his way here?” Grantaire splutters. “Why didn’t you just say that, you ass.”

‘I Love You’: a man’s perspective

I haven’t made the rounds yet this morning, but already last night I’ve seen multiple posts that seem to want to either downgrade or erase the meaning behind Sherlock’s words to Molly Hooper. I find it insanely amusing, because had those words been to John Watson, people would be wetting themselves, but because it was for Molly, people are climbing all over themselves to again deny this character her actual fair due.

My husband, who watches Sherlock with me, had some very interesting perspectives on The Final Problem. He tends to read the show textually, without shipping or all the other nonsense we as fandom people get into.  I tend to trust what he says only because he has no ulterior motives, like zero. Even my own ship doesn’t really mean a damn thing to him. He knows I love it, but he’s not swayed by my reading or my desires at all.

His reading of The Final Problem was that this was Eurus effectively unlocking the original Sherlock Holmes.  This was Sherlock’s sister, bringing him home, just as he was bringing her home.  To do that, she had to undo what she did when she took Victor Trevor away from him at that young age.  She took a little boy who was filled with bright, wonderful, hot emotion, and she made him lock that away.  She made him like her, and to my husband, it seemed like that was never what Eurus wanted.

The scenes inside Sherrinford were about systematically making Sherlock face each single, major emotion that he’s refused to feel all these years: anger, fear, sadness, and above all…love.  And no, I don’t mean love for your best friend, that’s already been addressed, and that was already the easiest thing for Sherlock to unlock in himself. He basically did that in S1.  Sherlock loves John, his best friend, just like he loved Victor.  The parallels are spelled out for you in the clearest of ways.

Sherlock’s locking away of his ‘sexuality’ was already broken open in S2 with Belgravia.  Irene Adler represented a part of Sherlock that really, really wanted out.  It was confusing as hell for him, as we saw, but he still managed to deal with it.  Sex is sex is sex.  It’s meaningful, and at the same time, can also be meaningless.  I personally never saw Irene as meaningless, far from it.  But I do think her special place in Sherlock’s “unlocking” was more physical than emotional.  Hence, we were reminded of this by the moan of her text tone. I personally think Sherlock’s sexuality is firmly unlocked at this point, no need to revisit it again and again.  Something that remained hidden though, very deep down, was Sherlock’s ability, willingness and understanding of a deeper love, and what that means.  This is where Eurus comes in.

The scene with the coffin was very carefully done, both by the writers and on the part of Eurus’ planning.  In fact, if you listen carefully to Eurus’ words, she states exactly why she did it: you lost, look what you did to her, look what you did to yourself, all those complicated, complex emotions, emotional context.  All of those things are things people feel when they love someone (romantic love, since I’m sure I need to spell it out for some viewers).  You feel elated, but you also feel scared.  You may also hate yourself because you probably feel the person you love deserves BETTER than you.  Should you act on it or let them go find someone better.  Do you have the strength to give up parts of yourself for them?  Do they have the strength to give up parts of themselves for you?  It’s scary as hell, y’all!!

My hub says, to him, the first time Sherlock says ‘I love you’ to Molly Hooper, he didn’t mean it…or at least Sherlock thinks he didn’t mean it. Then, the second time, he did mean it, and he knows it.  That is why he smashed the coffin…that was perhaps the biggest emotion he’d locked away, and he was consumed and confused by it.  For a man who has spent decades pushing love away, it came roaring in within 3 minutes, and he couldn’t push it away. Eurus wouldn’t let him push it away, and more importantly, Molly Hooper wouldn’t let him push it away. That’s why she turned the tables on him and made him say it first.  She inadvertently helped Eurus, which I’m sure was her plan all along (if you believe she’s as much of a supernatural badass as she’s shown to be).

My husband’s purely textual reading of Sherlock’s smashing the coffin with ‘I love you’ on it is that he DID mean it, but he wasn’t sure what that meant to him, and it scares him, greatly.  He said that looked like a man who was pissed that he LOVES.  He spent his entire life working at not loving, and here he is, loving this woman, but now he isn’t sure what to do about it, because he’s not even sure what that really means.  He doesn’t understand it…yet.  Love like that is incredibly strong, true love I mean, not “Hey let’s bone” love.  He said that wasn’t the actions of a man who doesn’t really care.  He said, as a man, if I had to get a woman to say that and I didn’t really love her, I wouldn’t care as much.  I surely wouldn’t care enough to smash an entire coffin to bits with my bear hands.

Lastly, my husband said something I thought was incredibly interesting about how he reads Sherlock.  He said he thinks the reason Sherlock hasn’t really pursued any other relationships with women, not seriously that is, is that on some level he really knew he loved Molly, but that he felt HE wasn’t good enough for HER.  He thinks Sherlock, for all of his arrogance, actually doesn’t think he’s a good man.  He knows Molly Hooper deserves a good man, someone to love her exactly how he thinks she should be loved, and he’s terrified he ISNT that man, or he CANT be that man.  His rage at smashing that coffin was basically anger at himself, anger at himself for loving this woman who really deserves more.

So, from a man who views this show with as much pure text as possible, he thinks that “I Love You” was real, but he thinks Sherlock simply doesn’t know what to do with it, doesn’t know what it means.  He said love is the scariest thing, especially to someone who’s lived closed off.  He’s had an upbringing that, without going into details, was a bit devoid of emotional support from people he needed it from. That means that learning how to show love was incredibly, incredibly difficult for him.  Trust me, I’ve been here for the entire thing.  It took years for him to learn how to show it.  It took me years too…in fact I still have massive trouble with it. People who’ve lived not understanding how to love since young childhood…it takes us a very long time to learn how to do it.

My husband and I are not the kind of people who go on romantic ballroom dancing dates and snuggle on the Tunnel of Love ride.  We’re just not those kind of people…but we do love each other very much.  We have our way of showing it that works for us. There’s no one else I’d rather trust my mind, body and soul to.  That was first built on friendship, then trust, then love.  For us, I think that’s kind of where Sherlock is starting to head.  We may not ever see that adventure, as that’s not what Sherlock’s story was about.  But, finding how to love, that was his story, and Molly Hooper is an irreplaceable part of that.  No one can deny that, not ever.

Isaac Lahey Imagine- Because Of Me (Part2)

Part 1       Part 3     Part4

You and Malia were on your way to Scott’s house for the weekly pack meeting and as usual you were both late. “No, we’ve got a good ten minutes till we have to be there” Malia said, checking the time on her phone. You decided to walk together from your house, by decided I mean your car broke down so you had no other choice. “Malia we were supposed to be there at half past, we’re twenty minutes late” you sighed. “We better hurry up or we’ll have to listen to one of Stiles’ lectures on the importance of punctuality again” she smiled. You remembered that vividly, you were both sitting there for what seemed like forever listening to a ranting Stiles, while you were making sarcastic comments and trying not to laugh. “It's like another fifteen minute walk” you groaned. “Or a five minute run” she said, her eyes glowing blue. “Malia, you know I hate sport-” you began saying, before realising she had already started. "Great” you muttered before running after her. By the time you got there, she was waiting for you at the front door. “It’s about time Y/L/N, I better tell coach to sign you up for extra track practice” she laughed. You simply flipped her off and opened the front door. You walked into the living room and everyone’s heads shot up at you, but you weren’t met with the usual clap or sarcastic comment on how nice it was for you to finally arrive. You followed Liam’s flickering eyes to see none other than Isaac goddam Lahey standing in the corner of the room. You couldn’t deal with this again. You turned around and walked back out without a word. “You make me do math, you’re doing this” Malia said, grabbing your shoulders and bringing you back in. You huffed and sat next to Stiles, the only other person that wasn't excited for his presence. Pack meetings were one of the places you didn’t have the comfort of Brett. You tried to listen to the meeting but you were too distracted, you had to ignore Isaac’s glances, while giving Malia the look to show her just how irritated you were, while trying your hardest not to look over at him and not to mention everyone was waiting for your input on things like usual and when you didn’t say anything everyone knew why. “Until we read the book, I don’t want any of you walking around at night on your own, we don’t know enough about the dread doctors yet” Scott said, rounding off the meeting. “So I’ve got enough room to drop four of you home” Stiles said, standing up. “I’m staying at yours to study and you pass Kira’s and Lydia’s house on the way there” Malia suggested. “Alright, Y/N I’ll drop you home as well.” Stiles offered. “My house is completely out of the way. You should take Liam instead” you said, picking up your bag. “You should take the ride, I’m sure the dread doctors are mostly going after humans and I don’t want you to be in danger because of me” Liam piped up. “Honestly, I’m fine. Don’t worry about me” you smiled. “You’re not going home on your own” Lydia declared. “My mom’s coming to pick me up from the end of the road” you announced. “Are you just saying that, or do you actually mean it?” Scott asked, raising his eyebrows. “Erm maybe…” you groaned, knowing they wouldn’t just drop it. “Why don’t you ride with Isaac, he’s got room and he’s heading in the same direction” Malia suggested. How kind of her. You widened your eyes and shook your head gently at her, she simply smiled at you in return and high fived Lydia and Kira discreetly. Clearly, the three of them had been plotting. “I don’t think that’s a good idea, I mean she hates me” Isaac tried to say quietly to Scott. “I think it’s a great idea” Kira added. “I don't” Stiles mumbled, before Malia punched him in the arm to shut him up. “I think I’d rather walk and take my chances” you said, attempting to leave, before Liam pulled you back in. “Isaac can take you home.” Scott insisted. “I’ll be fi-” you began saying, before noticing his serious expression. You looked at Isaac who was looking back at you awkwardly. “Fine” you whined, while walking outside and to his car. It couldn’t be that bad, surely. Everyone began walking to the cars and Scott stood at the door to wave you all off. You lent against the passenger side, with your arms crossed waiting for him. He opened the door and you both got in. This was definitely going to be awkward.

ZOE I COME TO YOU WITH A NEW SHIP PROMPT BECAUSE I AM DROWNING IN SPIRK THESE DAYS. (if you are uncomfy writing spirk please don't do it just... spirk. ♥) So.. Line...Ummm okay *sometimes, Jim wanted to do anything to just make Spock shut up, punch him in the face... or kiss him. He wasn't picky.* (yes i suck at prompting I am sorry)

(ONE OF MY ULTIMATE OTPS, NO AMOUNT OF NERVOUSNESS CAN STOP ME FROM TRYING!!! And nooo, it’s a good light hearted prompt to ease my way in!! Okay, here we gooooooooo!! AO3 link, cos it broke 2k and the ‘read more’ never seems to work on mobile!)

Sometimes, Jim wanted to do anything just to make Spock shut up. It wasn’t that he didn’t like talking to him, they often talked for hours off duty. But his reports were so dry, and he always insisted on summarising them out loud. Probably because he suspected Jim wouldn’t read them. He was mostly correct there. Still, it was even worse when he started summarising a report on the bridge, when Jim had only wandered over to his station to break the monotony or a slow day.

Listening to a dry report about the specimens they’d sampled on the previous planet was not breaking the monotony, in Jim’s opinion.

Even slumping slightly against Spock’s side, breaking into his personal space, wasn’t shutting him up. That sometimes made him take a step back and re-evaluate whether Jim was even listening. Not this time. This report was particularly dry, as Spock detailed the chemical structure of something. Jim wasn’t really listening. He was already thinking of other ways to shut him up. Punch him in the face, or kiss him. He wasn’t picky.

Either would certainly break the monotony, even if both were highly inappropriate, and likely to land him in the infirmary.

“I really would prefer to be kissed, rather than punched, if you are going to resort to such barbaric means of shutting me up,” Spock suddenly said, and it took a moment for his words to filter through Jim’s boredom.

The dead silence on the bridge helped him get there. He blinked stupidly at Spock for moment.

“No, you did not say that out loud,” Spock said, raising one eyebrow to the exacting height that indicated amusement.

Jim looked down. Sure enough, in his first attempt of shutting him up by invading his personal space, he had leaned against his side enough that their wrists were touching.

Feeling his face heat up, he pulled his hand back, so his thoughts were no longer open to Spock’s perusal. Clearing his throat, he glanced around the bridge, and everyone turned back to their instruments.

“I’m shocked, Mr. Spock,” he said, not looking at him directly. “One would think the former is breaking more regulations than the latter.”

He could see Uhura fighting a smile at her station, and scowled at her.

“Physically assaulting a high-ranking officer, even as Captain, is certainly a more serious infraction than kissing him,” Spock said, and Jim gave him a scandalised look, unable to believe he was actually saying that. On the bridge.

“Surely kissing a high-ranking officer without permission is classed as a form of assault,” he said, before thinking it thought. “With longer reaching consequences.”

Spock tilted his head, his eyebrow still at that amused height. “You assume lack of permission in haste, Captain, did I not just indicate permission?”

Jim couldn’t stop his eyes from widening. He was sure his face would be red. Had he stepped into some sort of alternate reality that morning? Was this even Spock? His calm and collected, logical, at least while on duty, First Officer?

“Surely when forced to choose between a kiss and a punch, it’s not the sort of permission that can circumvent regulations and prevent disciplinary action?” he said, his voice a bit weak.

Spock’s lips twitched, and Jim stared at him in shock. He’d not seen him look so openly amused outside of their off-duty interactions before.

“Surely an able Captain is not the kind to suggest something he is not brave enough to carry out?” Spock teased.

Jim made an embarrassing sound before he could stop himself. “Surely a capable First Officer is not one to take thoughts and hold a man to them!”

“Would a Captain rather face disciplinary actions for touching a Vulcan with his skin, without explicit permission?” Spock’s tone indicated no offence, but Jim still felt guilt twist his stomach. He broke that rule far too often, usually without even realising it at the time. “Which do you think the Admiralty would prefer to deal with? That, or a more personal breach of protocol?”

“Why, Mr. Spock, surely a Vulcan would prefer the former,” he said weakly. It was starting to sound like Spock was trying to corner him into kissing him. That was making thinking rather difficult.

Spock tilted his head to the side. “Why, Captain, I do believe you are exhibiting cowardice. Over a simple human gesture. How fascinating.”

Jim clenched his hands into fists, and his face grew hotter. Spock certainly had a tilt to his lips now that indicated a smirk. He was toying with him, and winning.

“Or maybe I was leaning more towards punching you!” he hissed.

Spock’s lips quivered, clearly wanting to smirk more openly. Usually Jim revelled in making him break that Vulcan mindset, and show his human half, but today he was completely thrown by it.

“How disappointing,” Spock said. “But the monotony is broken, is it not?”

“The mono—” Jim cut himself off. His voice was too high. And Spock looked entirely too amused, even if it was only by such minute shifts in his expression. “Mr. Spock! This is highly irregular!”

“But very educational,” Spock said. “That someone so brave could be so affected by such an innocent topic. I have witnessed this behaviour in other humans before, but thought you above it. Fascinating.”

Jim gaped at him. “I am shocked by your impertinence, Mr. Spock,” he said, regaining awareness of where they were, when Uhura sniggered. “Any more of this, and I’ll have to take disciplinary action.”

That only seemed to amuse Spock more. “Of a more official capacity? Or are we still discussing your indecision of how best to assault me into shutting up, as you put it?”

Uhura lost control, and let loose a peal of laughter. Jim was used to the bridge crew getting loose with regulations and propriety on particularly uneventful days, and often encouraged it, but he had never seen Spock so completely unprofessional while on duty before.

“Mr. Spock! Do we need to take this discussion of insubordination to the briefing room? You are setting a disappointing example to the crew!”

Spock tilted his head again, and he openly smirked. The sighed had Jim’s pulse racing Open displays of emotion from Spock always had that effect on him.

“It would be a more appropriate location for an altercation between high ranking officers, so that the lower ranks don’t get ideas, Captain.”

Jim spluttered for a moment, truly torn between punching him for making such a fool of him, and shoving him back against the console and making him eat his words.

“Oh, I do prefer the latter option, Captain,” Spock said, and squeezed his wrist. Jim hadn’t even noticed him touch it. “If you must break regulations.

“Mr. Sulu, you have the conn!” Jim snapped, pulling his wrist free, and glaring at Spock. “Mr. Spock, proceed to the briefing room, so we can discuss your blatant insubordination in private.”

CW: use of the r-word in the beginning of the second section

“Sorry, nerd! Actually, I’m not sorry, and my sarcastic apology is meant to further annoy you. It’s a quick and effective way to get attention.”

Gwen sighed. “Nurf, get over here. And run.”

She’d discovered after a few weeks that their resident bully tended to keep to himself when he had something to do. It was a combination of lack of attention, boredom, and pent-up aggression that seemed to cause the most trouble, and while David wasn’t a huge fan of the solution she’d come up with —

The boy broke into a trot, lowering his head as he thundered past the other campers. Gwen crouched down and braced herself, closing her eyes.

“Grahh!” He collided into her with enough force to send her back a few feet, their heels kicking up a massive cloud of dust. She tossed her head, shaking him off, and they backed up without taking their eyes off each other.

— he had to admit it worked.

Maybe Bars Aren’t So Bad

Summary: reader goes to a bar to get away from the fighting at her sister’s place and who might she meet there but Jensen Ackles. this is an AU where no one is famous and Jensen isn’t in any kind of relationship with the amazing Daneel.

Warnings: Smut, drinking, fighting(not Jensen),

Word count: ~1800

A/N: feedback would be greatly appreciated! I’m still iffy on my smut writing skills and its my first Jensen fic so i hope yall like it!

It was supposed to be a fun vacation to see my sister and her kids in Austin, but her ex-husband- or soon to be ex- showed up and the fighting started. We were all settled on the couch watching a movie that my nine-year-old niece wanted to watch, some Disney movie I think, when we heard a pounding on the front door of my sister’s apartment. She got up to open the door to show a very drunk ex-husband named Dylan.

“Go away, Dylan. You’re drunk…as usual” she tried to close the door in his face.

“No, please! don't shut me out! We can fix this!” When he started shouting I shooed the kids into my room, I knew it might get ugly and children shouldn’t have to hear their parents fighting. Once they were in there i closed the door and went back out to tell him to leave.

“Dylan. you need to choose a different time to do this. A time when your kids can’t hear you, that goes for both of you. But I’m not going to make y'all do anything. I’m going to put the movie on in my room and make it loud so that the kids can’t hear you guys. And then I’m going to go find a bar for a few hours. Get your shit together, guys. be adults.” I scolded.

“Oh, fuck off! You’re always trying to get in the middle! You can’t fix everything for her all the time! Just because you have no one doesn’t mean you need to make everyone else as miserable as you!” Dylan shouted at me. With that, I flipped him off and walked out the door, leaving them to shout at each other.

I walked to the nearest bar and ordered a beer, I wanted to be there for a while and I wasn't looking to get shitfaced right away, I hated bars but it was better than being where the fighting was happening.

my version of what happened between Isak and Even in the trailer (featuring Even’s Dark PastTM)

Isak doesn’t see him enter the club. He wouldn’t have noticed him at all if Sana’s eyes hadn’t slid off his face to focus on something behind him, if she hadn’t stopped laughing at his last remark to calmly state, ‘You’re needed.’

He turns around and his eyes settle on their target almost automatically. There he is, motionless, looking almost surreal in his plain white T-shirt amidst all the people dancing and laughing in bright party clothes. Their eyes meet across the room, and Isak knows.

Sana is right. He’s needed.

 ____________________

Isak doesn’t know. Even sees it in the way he looks at him as he comes over, leaving Sana  alone on the dancefloor. Open, warm, more than a little worried – he wouldn’t look like that if they had gotten to him already. Even knows he should feel relieved, but he doesn’t quite manage it.

This means he’ll have to be the one to tell him.

He could do it later, of course. Make up an excuse and get Isak out of here, away from the group of boys in the corner who really mustn’t know that Even is here. He could take Isak home, cover his ears, make him forget all about his phone and any the other ways they could reach him. He could lie in bed and close the curtains and build a universe just for the two of them, where the past doesn’t come to haunt him and Isak can live in blissful ignorance for a little while longer.

There’s nothing Even longs for more at this moment, but he knows it’s no good. He can’t keep the knowledge from Isak forever, and truth be told he’s already been putting this off for far too long. After all, they wouldn’t even be in this situation if Even had opened up to him just a little sooner.

No. It is time.

Isak has finally reached him, and Even greets him by putting a hand on his waist and laying his lips gently on those of his boyfriend.

‘Halla,’ Isak murmurs, running a hand through Even’s hair and letting it rest on his neck as he looks up at him, brown eyes displaying just the right mixture of encouragement, compassion and trust. He thinks Even isn’t feeling well, which is also why he didn’t come to the party in the first place.

It’s not a lie, exactly. Even is definitely not having the best of weeks, but for once it’s not due to his mental illness. Not directly.

Isak doesn’t speak but waits patiently, his thumb tracing tiny circles on Even’s cheek. As always in situations like these, he takes his cues from Even; a quiet offer of support without a hint of patronizing or judgement.

This is what Even loves him for. One of the thousand reasons.

‘I need to tell you something,’ he starts, then suddenly there’s pain and something warm runs out of his nose and his head is swimming a little. But all of that fades from his mind as Isak moves to put a steadying hand on his chest, because over his shoulder Even catches sight of the corner on the other side of the room – empty, since its former occupants are now slowly making their way across the dancefloor.

They’ve seen him.

The weight that has been lying on his shoulders for so long seems to multiply in an instant and Even lets his knees buckle under it, ducking out of sight as waves of dread and guilt and shame crash over his head.

If they get to Isak before Even can tell him –

If Isak doesn’t hear his account of the matter first –

If he loses Isak –

If they break Isak –

Even takes a deep breath and closes his eyes. He can feel Isak’s supporting arm around his shoulders, Isak’s warm breath on his cheek, Isak’s forehead against his own.

Isak is comfort. Isak is his.

He is not going to let them take Isak from him.

‘I’m fine,’ he says in reply to the boy’s stream of worried questions, finally looking up to meet his boyfriend’s eyes. ‘It’s only bleeding so much because it’s the nose. Let’s get out of here.’

Isak scrutinizes him for a moment before nodding slowly, the concern not leaving his eyes. ‘Let’s go to the bathroom and get you cleaned up,’ he says quietly. ‘And then you can tell me what’s going on.’

‘Deal,’ Even says and straightens up carefully, breaking his and Isak’s little bubble and looking around.

The dancefloor is in chaos. It looks like Even wasn’t the only one taken down; Eva is also on the ground and a number of other people are slipping and sliding and fighting for balance while Vilde and Noora are crawling around between everyone’s feet, shouting something about pearls.

Just one person doesn’t seem affected by the mayhem. Like a rock in a stormy ocean, Sana stands calmly on the other side of the room. Their eyes meet, and she gives him a small smile that says, You’re welcome. Then she raises an eyebrow and nods in the direction of the door. Now go.

Even looks at her for another moment, then he grabs Isak’s hand.

He doesn’t need to be told twice.

warnings: fight scene, bloody and gory, flirty Minhyun, man Minhyun’s different here, still mafia related, two more chapters then boom done, someone finally breaks, Minhyun getting real tired of Daniel’s shit, strong language, Kita na Kita (I Finally See You).

Setting the pots outside your store was what you normally did in the morning, but today was an exception. A man was standing outside the boutique, he had shoved his hands inside his pockets while waiting. You stared at him for a minute or two to get a glimpse of his face until he turned around and met your own gaze making him smile.

You averted your gaze to fix the plants outside the closed store before turning the sign. For a split second, you said to the male without facing him, “I’d rather stay inside than wait for the rain to pour.”

He conceded, entering the shop and strolling around the garden. You eyed the guy, a grin creeping up your lips as you watched him observe the hanging plants. Thereafter, you looked back at your desk proceeding to work; however, he interrupted you, “I’m Hwang Minhyun.”

You said, “I know who you are, my grandparents used to talk about you. They tried to set me up with you as a matter of fact.”

He licked his lips whilst nodding his head at your straightforward attitude, he knew you; could almost recite your entire life, and how your grandparents describe you. He just stared from far away at most times.

“Why didn’t you?” He questioned. You replied, “We just met.”

“I’ve known you for years. You just never bothered to stop and look around.” He blurted out which finally made you face him. Minhyun added afterwards, “Do you want to take the day off? Go on a drive?”

“How about tomorrow around six in the morning?” You scheduled, noticing another beam from him. Minhyun drove back to the TRXY bar that evening, a scene unfolding itself inside their room. Daniel was about to throw a punch at Seonho, but Minhyun was quick enough to react and thus he restrained Daniel.

Mmmhm. I wonder... I think it's pretty annoying when you make a harmless post about ship hate and ant1s immediately jump at you screaming 'pedophilia!!1' when that wasn't the topic at hand at all. But also, I think... at the end of the day you need to apply your moral philosophy to extreme circumstances in order to check whether it is logically consistent or not, right? So, it's mostly ant1s saying that stuff, but I think sometimes people really don't know what to think about this, you know? (1)

I think there are some people that genuinely don’t know what to think about the topic of fictional content and censorship because -within purity culture- the response to the claim “fictional content shouldn’t be censored” is always going to be “then /what/ can be censored?”. And that question does, indeed, bring up extremely dark and questionable topics, such as children being sexualized in media for merely sexual purposes. (2)

But I guess what I’m trying to say is all this moral panic arises from the fact that “fictional content, no matter how squicky or distasteful, remains fictional and shouldn’t be censored on that basis” is very difficult to understand for people that grew up with more traditionalist/authoritarian values? I think behind every ant1 post lies one perpetually unsaid question: “When is censorship okay?” And the fact that there isn’t one simple, easy answer can be scary to some. I guess. (3)

I do believe some of the points antis raise are interesting and worth discussing, because in the end we’re all asking ourselves the same thing: “when is it okay to censor fictional content, and under which criteria”. The difference is that factors such as cultural/religious/political background and how we are raised make us react differently to that question… thus the split between anti shippers and pro shippers. (At leats that’s my hypothesis) What do you think? (4)

A lot of good thoughts here, imo.

I strongly agree that anti-shippers make a lot of points that are worth a debate. The principles on which anti-shipping takes a theoretical stand are principles that should be listened to and considered! But when they are enforced with harassment and abuse, it’s hard to have an honest discussion. :(

Similarly, I agree that there’s value to taking a position to its extreme and seeing if you are willing to uphold it even when dealing with things you personally find horrifying or disgusting. I’d like to talk about that briefly later in this post.

But I’m particularly thinking about this part:

I think behind every ant1 post lies one perpetually unsaid question: “When is censorship okay?”

Your hypothesis is that anti-shippers are trying to locate and lay hard boundaries, essentially: they want rules - rules that cater to their personal comfort - to exist. And honestly … I get that.

Once again, I feel like it comes back to tumblr/twitter/web 2.0 being awful. These sites have ‘rules’, but they are broad and poorly enforced. (In fact, because the profit model is geared to user participation, some moderate strife is good for business - angry people tweet/tumbl/update their status more and spend more time interacting with others, which means more sweet advertiser money.) The boundaries that used to exist between people with conflicting interests are gone.  and some people really struggle with knowing they share internet space with others whose interests disrupt their personal comfort/allowing others to be different and not evil incarnate. Some people can’t tolerate moral ambiguity or cultural differences or anything that causes them discomfort.

A certain kind of person decides that if they cannot have a space that is entirely separate from somebody they disagree with, the person they disagree with isn’t allowed to have any space at all. They will make and enforce rules that exclude the person they disagree with. That is the kind of person who becomes an anti. (and the hands-off behavior of abuse teams on web 2.0 social media means that anyone who wants to set some rules and enforce them via harassment and intimidation has free reign to try to do it.)

(When the world fails to provide a clear-cut answer to ‘when is censorship okay?’ anti-shippers decide the answer is ‘censorship is okay when I say it is.’)

on the subject of taking a position to its extreme and deciding if you would enforce it, please go under the cut:

summary: A woman goes to her mom’s funeral

———-

So, mom is dead. That’s not what you say funerals, that’s not what you say when you show up in a dress you bought at Macy’s the other day with your girlfriend’s credit card.

Mom isn’t supposed to be dead either, but you’re at least supposed to say something nice when she is. I forgot my eulogy in the car anyway, it didn’t start like that.

She was an angel, a light, a caregiver, nice words stuffed into an open gaping maw and you want to summon them so badly it feels like a throat burn. I wished I could pluck them out of some sort of word jar, loaded with just the right phrases- I would make a killing selling those.

An image burns a hole in my forehead.

My mom had jars, jars on jars on jars, she put fruits in them and jam and sewing supplies and ‘good things that happened to me’ this year slips of paper. It was the first thing people joked about when they tried to remember her.

You’re supposed to joke and say something meaningful, I can’t just stop thinking: she’s dead, she’s dead, she’s dead.

I don’t even know what that means.

I brought a granola bar in my bag, I never liked granola and maybe that’s why I bought it, I have my student’s old tests shoved in my dashboard and my car keys down the front of my shirt. I have on two gold rings.

My personal thoughts on all of the Nicktoons (so far as of May 2017)
  • Doug: Cute, sweet show. I love it. Sad how it tends to be labeled as "boring" now- it's still a great show. And of course it kicked off the whole "slice-of-life cartoons" trend so that's pretty cool. And yes, I did like the Disney version. But it's nowhere near as good as the Nick version.
  • Rugrats: Probably one of my favorite cartoons ever. Funny, clever, great characters, great music, great '90s aesthetics, and Klasky-Csupo's style is perfect. One of THE best Nicktoons..too bad it got dumbed down in 2001. Ugh...it was such a great show and then I don't know what happened there. Rugrats in Paris should've been the finale. But...even the later episodes are better than it's spin-offs.
  • The Ren and Stimpy Show: While I'm not the biggest fan of most gross-out shows, I LOVE this one. I'm pretty much with Mr. Enter on how most gross-out cartoons seem to be TRYING to be R&S but rarely getting it right. The characters are hilarious and it's so weird, it's funny. But the less about Adult Party Cartoon; the better.
  • Rocko's Modern Life: Amazing show and I'm really excited for the TV movie...whenever that's coming out. I love the visual style, the music, the characters, and I'm sure I love it even more as an adult than I did as a kid (and I did love it as a kid)
  • Aaahh!!! Real Monsters: Another great show (really, Nick was at it's highest point in the '90s, but the early-to-mid '90s especially). Love the characters, the intentionally ugly style...it's just great. Shame it tends to be so underrated.
  • Hey Arnold!: One of the greatest cartoons ever and probably the best Nicktoon ever. I love how it never tried to shy away from more mature themes that other kids' shows wouldn't try touching and it did a great job at it. Looking forward to the Jungle Movie, and of course...Helga was the best.
  • KaBlam!: I loved it as a kid. As an adult, I REALLY wonder why. The wraparounds try way too hard to be "hip", just akwardly shoehorning in references attempting to be the next TTA or Animaniacs, but falling completely flat. Characters were annoying but the voice acting was awesome. I do need to give the show credit for making me a ska fan. Most of the individual shorts kind of sucked but Action League Now! was hilarious and The Off-Beats was cute. And of course...
  • Life With Loopy: Yes I had to give this it's own mention because it's just that good. Nick really needs to give this one it's own series because the campy and surreal nature mixed with the overall sweetness was just a perfect blend, and the animation style was pretty awesome. The title character is just so perfect and so underrated. And I LOVE how aesthetically '90s the whole show is.
  • The Angry Beavers: Another one that's pretty underrated. I always really loved this show. I love all the banter and ad-libbing between Norbert and Daggett. And the music was great. I still listen to "Beaver Fever" and "I Think I Like You" now and again (also...Salem and Zim as beavers. How could you go wrong there?)
  • CatDog: Everyone hates this show but I really loved it. I love the character designs, CatDog themselves, and the theme song is NEVER going to leave my head. Sure, it's no Rocko or Hey Arnold!, but it's still a funny show.
  • Oh Yeah! Cartoons: Unlike KaBlam!, this one had different shorts in every episode rather than just four main short series, so it would take too long to go over all of them (not to mention that a good chunk of them aren't even online!). A lot of the shorts on this show were really funny and had some great visual styles. And Mina and the Count still needs a TV show.
  • The Wild Thornberrys: Really loved this show; I was the "animal kid" in my class so obviously I really liked this one. I just really love Klasky-Csupo. The movie was awesome and so was the show.
  • SpongeBob Squarepants: One of the funniest cartoons ever. While it got annoying seeing it become a schedule clog, the earlier episodes are still great. I heard that it got itself out of seasonal rot (look, let's pretend most of what came in-between the movie and the second movie never happened), but I rarely watch Nick anymore so I wouldn't know. Let's hope so.
  • Rocket Power: Not one of my favorites as a kid or as an adult (I wasn't really into the extreme sports craze), but my friends really liked it so I watched it with them and yeah, I enjoyed what I saw. It does have it's funny moments and while it's incredibly cheesy and way too late '90s/early 2000s that it hurts, it's a fun watch just for the cheese.
  • As Told By Ginger: A great show that I don't think I really appreciated enough until I got older. I guess I was just a LITTLE too young when it was new and by the time I was older and getting more into it...the show got cancelled. It's a really great show and one of Nick's best slice-of-life shows.
  • The Fairly OddParents: Really funny...for the first four seasons. S5 was when it started to slip and everything after that just got worse and worse. I still have fond memories of watching the older seasons and they're still good...but let's hope that jump to Nicktoons meant something.
  • Invader Zim: Great show, great animation, great character designs...did NOT deserve to be screwed over. I'm really looking forward to the TV movie. But...while I do love GIR (though he's not my #1 favorite character), the whole Hot Topic worship of GIR was pretty annoying. Let's face it- 2006/2007 on the internet was a bad time.
  • ChalkZone: Really cute. Admittedly I like the worldbuilding elements and characters a little more than the actual episodes (I did love all of S1 though; I think it was the best season), it's still great. S4 was...not the best though. From what we know about the canned S5, it was probably gonna be a lot better but...Nick had to be Nick. Let us have S5, already. And really- why didn't we get a ton of Snap merchandise?
  • The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius: Good show but I liked the movie more. Had some really funny moments and is so aesthetically early 2000s that it's pretty fun looking back on.
  • My Life as a Teenage Robot: Loved this one and I wish it got more recognition. Jenny was absolutely adorable and she was a hero to me as a kid (okay, looking back...I'm sure I had a crush on Jenny). Sad that the network treated it like shit.
  • All Grown Up!: The special was good. The first season was pretty good. After that I felt like I was reading glorified Rugrats fanfic. All it was really was "Ginger Lite" as ATBG was dealing with the heavier stuff while this was all the leftover stuff. Rugrats was great and had an interesting premise. AGU! was more of the same.
  • Danny Phantom: This was the last Nicktoon I REALLY loved as a kid. A really good show that could've gotten even more awesome had it's own creator not fucked it up. Ugh...I want a revival but PLEASE let it be by Steve Marmel and not Butch. Also Sam was like...my hero...as a preteen. And I've got tons of purple and black in my wardrobe (and the same purple lipstick) now that may or may not have been influenced by her (well, that and/or the fact that those are my favorite colors anyway). Like many others...I totally had a crush on Danny as a kid.
  • Avatar the Last Airbender: Okay, admittedly...I was never into this show. But I praise it for it's themes, animation, story...while I personally couldn't get into it, it still is a great show and probably the last really good Nicktoon for a while. And yeah- we don't talk about that movie.
  • Catscratch: I didn't really see enough of it but what I saw I liked. Wanted to see more but it came and went really fast.
  • The Xs: While the previews for it looked pretty good, I...did not like it. I watched it when it premiered and everything but it was a letdown. Felt like they were trying WAY too hard to make their own version of The Incredibles but with Erin Esurance-esque animation. Voice acting was great though (I noticed that Wendie Malick was the saving grace for TWO bad 2005 cartoons)
  • El Tigre: Okay this was RIGHT around the time I was starting to lose interest/outgrow Nickelodeon. Had a great premise and could've been a really good show and I was looking forward to it, but it felt like tons of other flash cartoons at the time and the voice acting could've been a lot better (great talents- direction-wise though...). Maybe if I were a younger kid when it came out, I would've liked it more, but...it was annoying. But the creator has made some other great stuff and I STILL need to see The Book of Life. I'm kicking myself for not seeing it in the theaters due to my work and college schedule.
  • Tak and the Power of JuJu: Didn't play the games but I already knew the franchise was pretty much dying by the time the show came out. It was awful. And we never heard from Tak again...
  • Back at the Barnyard: The movie had it's problems but was at least watchable. The show was just annoying and unfunny.
  • The Mighty B!: Unpopular opinion, but...I really loved this show. It has problems, but there was something about it I couldn't hate. Bessie was just such a great character. Wasn't a big fan of the grossout elements but otherwise it was really funny. Not a great show, but I was entertained enough.
  • Rugrats Pre-School Daze: YES THIS IS A REAL SHOW. Ugly art style (I'm pissed that K-C didn't use their signature style and went for something more "cutesy"; it just looked awful), bland writing, and really not a very interesting series. No wonder why it only lasted four episodes and didn't even air in the US until 2008 after all the episodes were released direct-to-video as bonus features on those Tales of the Crib DVDs (the less about them, the better). All it felt like was a desperate attempt to keep a dying franchise alive.
  • The Penguins of Madagascar: I was pretty neutral to the Madagascar franchise- saw the first movie in theaters and it was alright; wasn't dying to see the sequels so I never did. The show however never did anything for me.
  • Fanboy and Chum Chum: While I was already losing interest in Nick around 2005-2007, this was right around the time where I was officially done. I was a teenager at this point and not into this stuff anymore, but I stuck around for the old SpongeBob or FOP rerun and well...guilty pleasure Mighty B!. Then they changed the logo. And then this show came out. God...it was SO annoying. Annoying theme song, annoying characters...animation style would've worked a lot better if it was in 2D rather than CGI; it just fell way too deep into the uncanny valley for me. I wouldn't say this was the final nail in the coffin for me though; it was definitely the logo change.
  • T.U.F.F. Puppy: Didn't like it. Jokes weren't that funny. I did love the character designs though.
  • Planet Sheen: Sheen didn't need a spinoff. This was one of the worst ideas ever.
  • Kung-Fu Panda Legends of Awesomeness: Liked the first movie (I need to watch it again), haven't seen the sequels but I should. Was bored with the TV show.
  • TMNT: Haven't seen it but I've heard nothing but good things about it. Maybe I should check it out.
  • The Legend of Korra: Heard it was pretty good, but as I wasn't really into Avatar I probably wouldn't be too interested.
  • Robot and Monster: Never saw.
  • Monsters vs. Aliens: Saw the movie and it was...alright. Didn't think it was warranting of a TV series. Didn't watch it.
  • Sanjay and Craig: Saw some of it while waiting for another show to come and...I never wanted to watch it again. Not a fan of the character designs and it was really unfunny. But it's better than Breadwinners.
  • Rabbids Invasion: I did like the Rabbids games as a preteen but...by this time, I don't think they were that popular anymore. Didn't watch it. How is it still running?
  • Breadwinners: Worst Nicktoon ever (so far). Ugly characters, awful animation, shitty writing...how did this get greenlit? Nick...just because "it's for kids" doesn't mean "we can half-ass it"
  • Harvey Beaks: What's this? A GOOD NICKTOON? Yes- it's such a cute show with cute character designs, really nice animation...it's got a nice, nostalgic feel to it while also feeling like something brand new that Nick hasn't done. I'm pissed that it was screwed over.
  • Pig Goat Banana Cricket: Like Monsters, I like how it's "intentionally ugly" and some of the jokes/line delivery managed to be pretty funny, but is otherwise pretty meh to me overall. I'd like it more if I were seven, because hey, that's the show's target audience.
  • The Loud House: I'm glad it has positive representation (thank you for including gay parents in one of your shows, Nick!), but otherwise it's just too bland and cliched for me. Nice character designs; animation could be better. Again, I'd probably like it more if I were in the target audience.
  • Bunsen is a Beast!: Haven't watched it. Don't plan on it, either.

anonymous asked:

Ack sorry about sending another pitch question (I know you said something about people sending those) but you mentioned you pitched a show twice, and since I'm a creeper, I read the tags and you said the pitch wasn't how we'd think they'd be; how were they, then, out of curiosity? If I ever pitch a show, in your position, what should I expect? What exactly happened? Sorry for asking all these questions; you've been my inspiration for a while and I hope I can pitch my own show someday!! Thank you

Oh no, that’s fine!  I don’t mind telling my experience with it, and I’ve even given pitching tips before, but this post is about the extent of my knowledge.  (You can also just search my blog for “pitch”, ‘cause I’ve reblogged stuff from other people that actually KNOW what they’re talking about, haha)  I just don’t want people under the impression that I’m super experienced with it, or that I’ve ever pitched to a big deal network or producer.  I absolutely haven’t.

I have exactly 2 pitching experiences.  The first one was a few years ago at an event in Nashville called “Film-Com”, which is an annual trade show/expo event for financing and distributing filmmaking projects.  Basically you get a booth, and you set up in this convention center with all these other aspiring creators (filmmakers, documentary people, a few video game/new media folks, all sorts), and they’ve invited a WHOLE SWATH of producers and industry professionals to come mull around the show floor with you so you can make connections and get your product out there EAT FREE MEALS and then idk, maybe fuckin’ walk around a bit and look at your dumb shitty projects if they fuckin’ feel like it but they probably wont, so what ends up happening is all the creators just walk around and look at each others’ shit, which for me—being the only animator there—means that a bunch of other jack-knobs who have some vague idea for a shitty cartoon end up giving me THEIR card so that maybe in the future I can work on THEIR dumbfuck ideas.

ANYWAY, to get to the point, they selected certain projects and scheduled them to actually go up and pitch in front of a whole room full of producers.  This happened over the course of the whole day, so I suspect the reason none of the producers were walking around interacting with people is ‘cause they were stuck in a room all day hearing 30 different suck-ass pitches and when it was all said and done they were probably exhausted.  I was scheduled as the last pitch of the day.  I enter the room and wait patiently; the person before me is running about 10 minutes over their allotted time.  I scan the room… everyone is MISERABLE.  They’re anxious, they’re uninterested, they’re sighing… the main guy who’s sort of monitoring the whole thing is pinching his brow and trying his best to keep up the pretense of politeness in telling the current pitcher to wrap it up.  NONE of these people want to be here anymore.  It seems like everyone’s spent the whole day “warming ‘em up” for me, but now they’re all sweaty and miserable, so I can either go up there and give another mediocre pitch, OR I can go up there and try my goddamn hardest to make them laugh.

I go up on stage, just IMMEDIATELY force myself to get over any fears I have, and I pitch W2H.  I screen a short mock trailer I made (no way I’d force them to sit through that whole fucking thing), and it’s sort of like a fever dream, because I can see all of the life returning to their faces, they’re WAY into it, I’m doing fucking GREAT somehow, despite literally zero experience… and when it was all said and done, it became abundantly clear that even though they all LOVED it, not a single one of them could help me.  None of them were animation producers.  None of them KNEW animation producers.  One guy suggested I go into comics, because “comics get turned into film and tv shows all the time”.  I just had the PERFECT fucking pitch, and I pitched to people who couldn’t fucking help me.  As I was leaving, many of them came up to me and actually thanked me for sending them off for the day on a good note.  There was a big dinner at like, the fucking Governers’ mansion or something that night, and again, some of them were coming up to me and thanking me, wishing me the best and all that.  I guess if nothing else, I learned what I’m capable of.

The second pitch was an ACTUAL disaster.  When I’d first graduated I thought I could pitch W2H to Frederator, ‘cause it seemed like a good fit.  They told me (understandably) that they couldn’t reverse-engineer a show from something I’d already produced, and also that it was inappropriate (despite having a show at the time called “SuperFuckers”, but whatever; language and subject matter are different things).  Later on I got an email from them, saying that someone in their office was familiar with my work, and they invited me to come pitch them something that wasn’t W2H.  They also said that I was free to swing by their office any time, even “just to hang out”, and that if I had any questions “whether it be pitching or where to get the best burgers in Burbank”, to hit them up.  How friendly!  How perfect!  I was JUST about to move out to L.A., so I started working on this idea tentatively called “Gayliens”.  I swung by their office once, you know, just to pop in, like they said; thought I’d make myself known or whatever.  They looked at me like I was nuts.  They still invited me in and we chatted for a bit about the history of early Disney studios, but when they asked why I was there, and I reminded them about the email they’d sent, they seemed to have no idea what I was talking about.  I told them I was working on a pitch for them and that I’d be in touch so we could schedule something.

When I finally finished putting my pitch together, I went in for a meeting with them.  It was just 2 folks, we were in like a board meeting-type room (which I imagine is probably standard).  They made some small talk with me first, which I’m sure was an attempt to loosen us all up a bit and set the mood, but all of their questions really caught me off guard.  (I guess they asked where I was working, and when I told them I didn’t have a studio job, they asked how I was making money, and I’m sure it wasn’t meant to put me in an awkward position, but people asking me how I make money literally ALWAYS puts me in an awkward position, because my income sources are scattered and weird.  Try explaining how youtube ad revenue works to your social services worker, it’s a blast.)

SO okay, I let myself get tripped up a bit.  I go on with the pitch; they don’t really want me to pitch the concept, they just have me show them my storyboards and read through the whole thing.  They’re DEAD silent the whole time.  I can’t get a read on them at all.  When it’s over, they ask me some more questions that trip me up.  Some of them are 100% my fault; they asked for a title, and I wasn’t ready to say “Oh, it’s tentatively called GAYLIENS,” out loud to people who I couldn’t get a read from.

It’s all kind of a blur, but the few topics of discussion I remember them bringing up were that “the storyboards look almost TOO good”, like it was TOO polished or well-developed (which is sort of a backhanded compliment I guess???), because see, “when they made Adventure Time… blah blah blah it just started off as this loose idea, and once they were a season or so into it, they started expanding on the universe and developing the characters a little bit more…” — AS IF ANYONE doesn’t understand why AT got so popular???  You don’t have to TELL ME, I WAS WATCHING IT, I FUCKING KNOW.  No one gave a shit about AT until they got Rebecca Sugar and all these talented writers working on it a couple seasons in, and doing all this character-heavy shit.  I tried to present them with something that had all that character shit baked into it already, ‘cause I knew they were gonna’ use AT as an example.  But it seemed like they’re not looking for something that’s already developed with it’s own voice or sensibility, they’re looking for a vague idea that they can mold into something as they go.

They also told me–and I still can’t get over this–that they’re looking for “”””””characters that people will want to cosplay as””””””, which is funny to me for a plethora of reasons; namely that they have no way of knowing that PEOPLE DO COSPLAY AS MY CHARACTERS, but also that I spent half of my time in college working on ridiculous magical girl Adventure Time crossover group cosplays (don’t fuckin’ laugh) like trust me I’m ALARMINGLY familiar with cosplay, and ALSO, that looking for a new property with the guidelines that it should be “the next big thing that some fucking nerds will dress up as at comic con” just seems like such an out-of-touch-but-trying-to-be-hip, capitalize-on your-fandom-doing-all-the-legwork-for-you, fucking executive thing to say.  I know I sound like a whiny art school kid saying that but my animation instructor was so anti-establishment, and I carry a lot of that with me still, and something about that statement–insignificant as it may be–kind of epitomizes how I feel about the industry?  It’s a hard thing to explain.

I walked out of that pitch with my mind feeling like TV static.  My friends were waiting for me next door at a bakery and they were super excited, asking me how it went, and I was just like “I mean… BAD, for sure, but I don’t know where to even start.”  Hahaha.  I don’t know.  It just seems like everyone wants to play gatekeeper I guess.  They want This Thing™, but it can’t be too This Thing™.  They want the thing to have A Fandom™, but they don’t really understand fandom ‘cause they don’t participate in fandom.  They want Your Idea™ but they want to make it Their Idea™.  I don’t know.  I’m just angry and bitter and that’s my experience with pitching.  Admittedly some of what went wrong in these pitches was my fault, or there were circumstances beyond my control, and regardless of how that pitch went, I don’t actually dislike Frederator (I’m on their youtube network), and Fred Seibert has actually done a ton of iconic shit.

I don’t think I’ve ever AIRED MY GRIEVANCES in such great detail before, but there you have it.  If you want some tips on pitching, you can check out the links I provided at the beginning of the post; there’s tons of people out there who actually know their shit too, and they’d probably give more proactive advice.  I don’t know if this helps at all, but hopefully you can glean something from it!  That’s just my limited experience with it.  Haha.  Good luck!

Confusion (JB, chapter 2)

Jaebum x you; (mafia au) ; 3567 words

chapters: 1, 2, 3

summary: you were assigned to kill him but you can’t, so you decide to leave his life. For good, but he wouldn’t let you

It had been five days, fourteen hours and seventeen minutes since you left Jaebum alone in his king sized bed, deciding that you couldn’t go through with the mission you were assigned. You weren’t obsessed with him or anything, counting the hours since you left him.

Fine. Maybe you were being slightly obsessive but you also attributed it to the fact that you had a report to write that was immensely difficult to write because every time you flipped open the file and saw his photo, your heart ached in ways you never imagined would be possible.

For the first two days, you had stared at his photo, one leg brought up to your chest and willed yourself to cry, thinking the tears would purge your feelings of him. But love isn’t so easily erased, it isn’t that easy to throw away. Unfortunately you had to learn that the hard way.

You toyed with the idea of burning the small photo, that maybe with the photo gone, you would be able to finally write the report. You quickly gave up on the idea though, the picture was the last physical reminder you had of him, the rest were just memories.

julia how do you emotionally bounce back from getting a bad grade on a paper :/ i thought i did well and i tried hard but apparently it wasn't v good

By learning to separate how good you are at certain tasks from your value as a person. I’ll be honest here- you could be a terrible writer. I’m one of those people who thinks everyone can be taught to be a proficient writer, but most people cannot be taught to be excellent writers. Even if you were a bad writer, it’s honestly not that big of a deal in life unless that’s something you take a lot of pride in. It doesn’t make you less of a good friend, less smart, less kind, less good at solving interpersonal conflicts or whatever else you do, etc. And if you do take pride in being a good writer, then get better. Put in the work to read the work of great writers and learn from it. Read about essay writing. Read papers out loud, record that, and listen to it back, or read to a trusted friend. There are lots of ways to improve your writing, including talking to your professor. Writing is just written communication. If you can learn to communicate well in some other way, you can generally translate that into your writing.

But also, please know that sometimes your professor is just wrong, or a worse writer than you. I have had more than one professor try to push me out of certain stylistic choices, and on some occasions I realized they were totally right and on others we just agreed to disagree. Sometimes your professor’s suggestion is stupid, even if your professor is very smart, because they hsve poor taste.

If your professor’s notes were grammar, spelling, etc- awesome. That’s easy to fix by learning grammar.

If your professor’s notes were on particular word choices, that’s a style issue. You could have a horrible style (lots of undergrads do) or just one that is different from that professor. Ask someone you trust whether your papers would weird. Most people pick up on bad phrasing natutally.

If your professor’s notes were that they couldn’t understand what you were saying, you’re probably a bad writer- again, writing is just communicating. But even then, you can get better. Read great essays and read about why the work. Find your style. Keep writing. But don’t give up or feel like you’re stupid or anything. Writing is not somwthing everyone does well, and even good writers usually write relatively poorly when they first start writing. Hope this helps!

Jungkook makes a habit of showing up drunk to a nearby flower shop. Bad puns and fluffy pining ensue.

Or, a college!au in which BTS are all frat boys, Namjoon is a science club president,Jimin just wants a good party, and Jungkook is hopelessly fascinated by the girl who takes care of flowers in her free time.

author’s note: aaaand we’re back folks, with chapter three! it get’s a little dramatic this time around, so just a fair warning!! i hope you enjoy it, and once again comments, tips, and critiques are all appreciated!!

disclaimer: all mentions of the university in this fic are purely pulled from my ass— I don’t claim to know anything on a deep, spiritual level about university clubs, classes or frat parties. Side characters, that aren’t specifically Bangtan Members™, are all made up and therefor fictional .
