i can already feel this not getting notes

anonymous asked:

Can we please start a petition to get A Proposal published so I can keep it and ugly cry at the end forever????

Haaaaa!! Thanks, I’m flattered. Unfortunately I don’t think so, considering the thing is based off a movie, albeit loosely so, and it’s fan fiction of an already established franchise. I’d like to keep from getting sued.

On that note, though, ao3 does allow users to download fics as PDF and other e-reader formats :) otherwise, feel free to print it out for yourself if you’d like a physical copy. That said, short of the internet going up in flames or something, I promise it’ll always be up on Ao3 as long as I can help it :)

Thank you tho, Nonnie. The love is appreciated!

This was a sad Eurovision for Spain not because we lost, but because we wanted zero points SO BAD we got frustrated when someone gave us five.

Overrated First Year Advice

Disclaimer: I don’t mean to discredit the posts that have these suggestions in them… However, I know that for people going into first year university, it can be stressful seeing pages and pages of “must-dos” and feeling like you have to do them all. As always, different things work for different people!

Talking to Profs

  1. Getting to know profs personally. If you don’t feel comfortable talking to profs personally, don’t feel like you have to. In upper years, it can be really valuable to know profs for recommendations, etc. but in first year this is less important. Profs also don’t usually mark your work in first year, so you don’t need to suck up to them for good grades.
  2. Going to office hours every week. Going to office hours can be very valuable if you have questions about the course or an assignments. However, I see a lot of posts telling students to go every week even if they don’t have a question. You don’t need to do this unless you want to! Often times, profs will even request that you talk to your TA before them.
  3. Emailing the prof if you miss class. Unless you go to a very small school, the prof is not going to notice if you miss class. You don’t need to email them telling them why you were absent, you can just go to a different section of the lecture or get the notes from someone. (If you have labs/tutorials/seminars, the same does not apply!! Email your TA.)

Studying and Grades

  1. Starting to study for tests six weeks in advance. This is one piece of advice that always baffles me. The semester is only 12 weeks long (usually), so if you have a quiz in week 6, you can’t start studying for it much before week 4 or 5. Also, there is no way you will retain the finer details of things if you learned them 6 weeks before writing the test.
  2. Guaranteeing a 4.0. I see a ton of posts telling students how to guarantee a 4.0 average or straight As. But honestly, as much as you do all of the readings and go to lectures and follow all of the studyblr advice out there, you can still get a TA who won’t give any mark higher than an 80. Just try your best and know that even though getting high marks is great, it is not the only indicator of success in uni.
  3. Sitting in the front of the class. This is not a necessity. A lot of people post that if the prof can see your face and remember you, you will get better grades. However, in first year, the prof doesn’t mark your papers usually and even if they did, your paper doesn’t have a photo of you on it. Also, they teach so many classes I doubt they just naturally remember the first three rows of each one and no one else. Just sit where you are comfortable and can pay attention and see, and you will do fine.
  4. Choosing your major in high school or based on what job you think you will get. If you think you want to major in something and then it turns out you hate it, that is fine! Your major should be a subject you are passionate about and can get good grades in, not something that you chose in high school or will “guarantee” you a good job (although, its also okay if your major is all of the above).
  5. Taking full notes on a topic before the lecture. If you are going to the lecture with a ton of info already, it is easier to get distracted or to feel like you don’t need the lectures at all. Instead, take notes in the lecture and then supplement them with notes from readings or bonus material rather than the opposite way.

  1. Buying textbooks online. I definitely think that buying textbooks online can be a good idea, but sometimes it is just easier to buy them from the bookstore. For example, if you are not sure if a site is legit/the book will come in time/its the right edition, etc. it might just be safer to get it in person or buy it used on campus from an upper year. (Remember, you can probably sell it next year!)
  2. Buying old editions of textbooks. If you have the two books side by side and can tell that they are very similar, go for it. But often times, two different editions are totally different and can just mess you up. Science and math books often have different practice questions, and even in social sciences and humanities, the content can change drastically in one edition.

  1. Buying extra storage and furnishing for your dorm. Make sure you do a virtual room tour or talk to someone about the layout before you buy a ton of storage. Most dorm rooms that I have been in have a ton of storage (mine has a closet, a huge desk, shelves to the ceiling, a dresser, and cabinets for extra storage). You don’t want to show up with way too much stuff.
  2. Keeping 1000 things in your backpack. If you live on campus, you don’t actually need to carry every single thing on earth in your bag. It will get annoying carrying around a heavy backpack while walking. Unless you are going to the library for a huge study sesh or can’t make it back to your room all day, pack lightly!
  3. Avoiding wearing “freshman clothes”. No one cares what you are wearing. People often wear pajamas or just track pants and a baggy t-shirt to class or the caf. If you like dressing up, that’s great! But don’t feel like certain clothes are off limits.
  4. Living at home meaning you aren’t independent. Posts that look down upon living at home or going to your home university are garbage posts in my opinion. Being able to live away from home is a privilege, and many people are not financially, physically, or emotionally able to do that. If you are living at home, do not feel bad about it. You are still an adult and you are still independent.

Hope this helps reduce some rising freshman anxiety! And remember, if you do want to follow any of the original tips, that is okay too. :)

who you should fight: hwarang edition
  • sun woo: fight him at any given moment
  • ah ro: do not come close, she'll end you. 0/10 would recommend
  • sam maek jong: ok you can fight him and probably win but then you'll see his sad puppy eyes and realise you haven't actually won bc now you feel terrible??? stay away if you have a conscience
  • princess sook-myung: if you want to lose the fight and your pulse, go ahead and fight her
  • soo ho: absolutely. obliterate him or die trying. then now forever
  • ban ryu: he already has enough to deal with please spare him (side note you'd totally win)
  • soo yeon: i mean you could try if you're ready to get your head smashed in
  • hansung: honestly why would you hate yourself this bad do not touch this cinnamon roll
  • yeo wool: don't even think about it, he'll have you fucking exposed with all the shit you did from your 12 year-old phase to present and nobody is ready for that. ever
Bestfriend Trouble (1/2) | Zach Dempsey x Reader

Genre: Romance, Fluff
POV: Reader’s and Zach’s (POVs are stated before a section.)

A/N: Hello guys! This is a 2-Part story and both parts are from different requests. This is actually a bit different from the request below but I just really wanted to connect both requests so yup haha. I hope you guys enjoy!

Request: I was wondering if you could pretty please do an imagine where Zach is just hopelessly in love with the reader, he does dorky things to see her smile, his friends always tease him when she walks by, she always catches him staring at her during class or lunch, he gets really nervous when she talks to him and he tries to keep his cool when she’s near but he always fails and is just super cute, just super fluffy.

“Y/N! Y/N LOOK! LOOK!” Zach says through his mouth full of chicken tenders while he sat in front of me.

“Look how many chicken tenders I can fit in my mouth!” he continues as he tries to get my attention and I look at him in disgust, but it was pretty impressive too if I’m being completely honest.

“Zachary stop it, you look like an idiot.” I reply as I go back to reading my History notes. I promised myself that I’ll do better after failing our most recent quiz.

“I’m not going to stop until I see a smile on your face. Stop getting so bothered by that stupid quiz! There’s always 10 more after that anyway.” he says as he removes the chicken from his mouth one by one, chewing the others in the process.

“I need to keep my grades high, you know this, or else my parents will be so disappointed in me.” I reply as I become even more upset, I lean my head down on my notes.

“You’re already the perfect daughter, the perfect student and the perfect girl. No one can ever be disappointed in someone like you. You’re too hard on yourself sometimes, you don’t even see how amazing you are.” he says and I lift my head up to face him.

“You’re just saying that to make me feel better.” I say as lean my chin on my right hand while pouting and Zach gets a sip of my milkshake. When he parted the glass from his mouth, a white vanilla foam moustache was left on his upper lip. He looked like one of those History people we learn about. I purse my lips while trying to hide the obvious smile on my face.

“A-HA! Is that a smile?! I see a smile! Yes! I made you smile!” he beams, fists pumping up in the air.

“You really are an idiot.” I reply as I shake my head at him and hand him a tissue.

“It’s fine. I don’t mind acting like an idiot as long as I can make you happy.” he says while munching on a french fry and I scoff at him.

Zach Dempsey has been my bestfriend ever since we were in 3rd grade when I gave him a sip of my strawberry milk and he threw up all over me shortly after. That was the first time I found out about his very sad allergy. It’s a classic story between him and I. Since then, we’ve been inseparable.

Being bestfriends with one of the most popular guys in school means you’re also friends with the people around him. You get invited to all the cool parties, you get VIP passes at every school event and people automatically think you’re more important than you actually are. It was great, but not always. I missed being with Zach, just him, just the two of us and it was moments like right now that I treasure most.

“Oh by the way, we’re all going to see the new Fast and Furious movie tomorrow night. I’ll pick you up at 7 okay?” Zach suddenly asks.

“Please don’t tell me that obnoxious friend of yours will be coming too.” I say as I roll my eyes.

“Bryce? No no, Justin didn’t invite him.” he replies with a laugh.

“Alright then I’m in!” I answer and get back to reading my History notes.

The next day

I stood by my locker as I get the books I need for next period. Great, I thought to myself, Physics next, my least favorite subject. I sigh in disappointment as I shut my locker door. I turn to my right and a smiling Zach Dempsey was leaning on the locker next to mine.

Beauty and the Beast 2017 is a remake done RIGHT

ive felt the overwhelming need to rave about beauty and the beast since i saw it a few days ago. **SPOILERS**

lets begin from the start

  • it would’ve been hard to go wrong with cast members like Emma Watson, Josh Gad, etc. i had extremely high hopes and was not disappointed
  • Dan Stevens (beast) deserves some appluase for being able to wear that amazingly ridiculous makeup in the opening scene (i fucking loved it)
  • the question of how the hell this village that is within a days ride of the enchanted castle is completely oblivious to its existence is explained
  • they give Gaston a reason to be so creepily obsessed with Belle. i mean that doesn’t justify his behavior at all, but still. he’s just come back from a war and is clearly still exhibiting behavior (violence, dominance, desire) that are products of being at war.
  • LEFOU !!!!!, i knew i would love Josh Gad in this role. “but she’s so well-read and you’re so….athletically inclined”
  • they didn’t alter the core story/plotpoints from the original but instead, added some amazing content that really fills many of the holes from the original and more.
  • Emma Watson’s portrayal of Belle is just phenomenal, she keeps the essence of the character while fleshing out some things that Belle sort of had (defiance, courage, wit) that were only hinted at in the original.
  • We get a pretty plausible reason for the absence of Belle’s mother, and it explains why Maurice is a little bit odd.
  • BEAST HAS A REASON FOR IMPRISONING MAURICE. its a stupid one. but at least its something. it always bothered me in the original that Beast locked Maurice up for no apparent reason other than the fact Maurice trespassed (to escape horrible weather mind you) and sat in his favorite chair???? at least here its because Maurice steals a rose (i said it wasn’t a very good reason). i also believe this concept is from the ORIGINAL story written by the french novelist Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve (don’t quote me on that though)
  • Ewan McGregor and Ian McKellan don’t need explanation for being amazing. (someone better invent immortality before Sir Ian McKellan meets his fate)
  • Belle is badass, she TRICKS her father so that she can take his place because she fucking loves him so goddamn much
  • Belle also has an accurate reaction to objects being able to move and talk. throwing a stool at them.
  • the question of HOW the fUCK Belle got Beast up onto Philippe after the wolf attack on her own is finally solved (thank god that even bothered me as a child)
  • we are told why the servants care for Beast so much even though he’s kinda dickwad AND we are told why he’s such a dickwad, not just cause he that’s who he is but because his father fucked him up
  • Belle knows about the spell. not how to break it, but she knows that it exists and she knows that a human is behind all the anthropormorphic objects and Beast which makes it A LOT less weird that she falls in love with Beast. In the original, she knows the castle is enchanted but she has no idea about the spell so it’s kinda weird she falls in love with (what she thinks) is just a freak of nature.
  • for some reason, it feels as if Belle in Beast know each other for a lot longer in the remake than the original which is nice.
  • i will now take the time to rave about the music. it’s beautiful. the original songs are gorgeous and everything they added to them (altered words and such) make them better. i havent stopped listening to the soundtrack
  • all newly composed songs are so good and fantastic additions
  • EVERMORE (song sung by Beast when Belle is freed from him) HAD ME SOBBING, HIS VOICE PENETRATED MY SOUL
  • Maurice and Belle are badass as fuck, i swear, partners in crime getting themselves out of the carriage so that Belle can go warn Beast. i died when Maurice just casually handed the asylum guy the picked lock.
  • of course i have to note i was all for the gay lefou storyline

i feel as though i have probably missed some things but that about sums up my thoughts. I could go on about the technical side of it and commend the amazing CGI but that’s a whole other story that would just make this post longer than it already is.

i was so hesitant about remakes when Disney started doing them, but if the rest of them can be to this caliber - sign me up.

Fire and Ice

Bucky x Reader Oneshot

Summary – Prompt #37 – God, why do you always make me blush so damn much!

Warnings – One curse word, a little angst, a little fluff, and a little PG-13 action!

Word Count – 3,305

Notes – This is my fic for Kait’s @bionic-buckyb 5K AU Writing Challenge.  I’m taking a page out of Anika’s @avengerofyourheart book and using my own life as inspiration for this fic.  As some of you know, I was in the Air Force before I became a teacher.  I was a Medical Technician (med tech for short) which basically meant I was an LPN.  RN’s were the officers (Lieutenants and Captains) and the med techs were enlisted (Sergeants and Chiefs).  This fic is basically the story of my insane crush on one of the doctors I worked with when I was stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base 17 years ago.  He was the most beautiful man I’d ever seen in my life and every time I was near him, my face would turn so red!  Most of what happens in this fic actually happened to me. I never got the courage to talk to him, but I saw a picture of him a few years ago and he got old and fat, so maybe I dodged a bullet!  Anyway, he’ll always have a special place in my heart and this fic gives me an opportunity for some closure (and to finally put my fantasies into words!). As always, I enjoy reading all of your feedback, comments and questions!

Special Notes – The military is notorious for using acronyms, so here are the ones that I will be using in this fic.

·         Lt. – Lieutenant

·         LPN – Licensed Practical Nurse

·         RN – Registered Nurse

·         OTS – Officer Training School (boot camp for officers)

·         EJ – External Jugular Vein Cannulation (an IV that goes in the side of your neck)

Harry X Reader: Angst

Request? No

Author’s note: This is part 3 of “Mess o’ Mine”. Read the first two parts if you haven’t already! Also… idk how I feel about this?? Let me know what you guys think.

Part 1: Mess o’ Mine // Part 2: Mouth o’ Mine

You hadn’t noticed just how close you were to Harry before your little falling out, but now you can feel the fingertips of loneliness clawing at your insides.

Bunch of us are down at the pub if you wanna drop in

You’re relieved when you receive the text, springing up from the couch to get yourself ready. You’ve messaged a lot of friends in the past few weeks and have barely gotten responses. Apparently you’ve neglected to reach out to a lot of them for months. Maybe you’ve been wrapped up with Harry and his new solo career. Whatever the reason, you’re disappointed in yourself.

It’s a half hour later when you’re ready and slipping on a pair of shoes. You lock the door as you leave and tromp down the steps. The pub isn’t too far away, just a fifteen minute walk. It’s a bit chilly out, though, dreary and gray with cloud-cover. Your arms hug your coat close to your frame, head down to protect your face from the air. The pub is in front of you soon and you press through the door.

This Is What I Do

It had been a rough handful of weeks. The news of the death of a sister he never knew hit him harder than it should’ve. Maybe it was because he wished he had known her, or maybe it was because of the baby she’d left behind. A baby that was left to Will’s care after realizing there was no one else to watch her.

He could have said no. He could have given her to an adoption agency. But that “could have” wasn’t really a possibility. Not with his heart. Not with the bright blue eyes and curly black hair adorning her face as she looked at him in confusion. Of course Will wouldn’t leave the child to the system. Of course he’d take her and give her a better chance at life.

It meant he had to get baby formula and diapers and toys and he had to babyproof his apartment, all of which he’d only done about two things. For the time being, he had to get back to work… along with the child in a car seat.

He hadn’t found a nanny yet, and after talking with his boss, the company allowed him to go to work with the baby as long as he was able to keep up.

When he walked into his office though, he stopped short at the sight of someone else in his chair. “Uh, who the hell are you?” he questioned.

Dark brown eyes flitted up, one eyebrow arched in question. “Who the hell are you?” the guy retaliated.

Will frowned and put the car seat on a table before turning to the guy who was looking at the car seat in utter confusion. “I’m who the hell’s office this is. Why are you in my chair?”

The guy sat back and scoffed, crossing his arms. “I’m the guy who’s been doing your job. Nico di Angelo.” He held out a hand and Will stared at it suspiciously. Eventually, Nico put his hand down and tilted his head as he looked at Will. “Question; why is there a child on the table?”

“Long story, don’t worry about it. Can you get out of my chair now, so I can do my job?”

Nico scoffed and stood. “Sure thing. If you know what you’re doing.” Will scowled and sat down. As he looked at the computer screen and the paperwork in front of him, he realized he was completely out of the loop and horribly confused. Nico sat on the edge of the desk and leaned forward with a cocky smirk. “Need help?”

The tone of his voice, along with his attitude made Will angrier and added to his pride. “No. Get off my desk.” Nico laughed and slid off, sitting in the chair as he waited patiently. Will could feel his face heating up with embarrassment of being watched and not knowing what to do with his own work.

Finally, he looked at Nico and let out a frustrated sigh. “Okay. Explain. What the hell is this?”

Nico smiled and went around the desk, explaining the paperwork and the presentation that had to be given the next day. “Look, I can do the presentation, you have the kid and you just got back,” Nico said after a half hour of Will trying to catch up with the statistics. “I know the information, so-”

“No!” Will snapped. He put a hand to his temple and shook his head. “No. This is my job. I can do this. Just give me the information, and I can do the presentation myself.”

Nico sighed and shrugged, continuing to walk Will through the data. A few minutes later, a sharp cry broke them both away from the computer. “Your child is making noises,” Nico noted. Will sighed in exasperation and glared at him before going to pick the baby up. He shushed her and fished in the diaper bag for her bottle. “What’s its name?”

Her name is Lily,” he answered. “Keep talking, I’ve got this.” He motioned for Nico to keep talking as he prepared the bottle and fed the baby. Nico continued to give him notes and pointers.

Half an hour later, their boss came in and asked if they were ready for the presentation because it was being rescheduled to that afternoon. “What?” they asked at the same time. Will shook his head. “No, I can’t present it today, I have to get Lily home so I can get more things for her-”

“Well, Nico can do it,” she said. “He’s been here for a while, he’s already presented before. It’s fine.”

Will clenched his jaw as he looked down, feeling defeated. She walked out and Will took a breath before looking at Nico. “Well, you win. Let me know how it goes. I have to go.”

He started packing the diaper bag and gathering his things when Nico’s voice stopped him. “You do it.” Will looked back at him in confusion. “You’ve been working really hard for the last few hours, pacing back and forth with a baby in your arms to get the information memorized. You do the presentation.”

“I doubt they’ll let me in with Lily in the car seat.”

“I’ll watch her. She’s fed, she’s quiet, she’s back in the car seat. I can handle a baby for an hour. But you should do the presentation.” He looked at Will with sincere eyes, his jaw set as though he wouldn’t take no for an answer. “Go,” he said again.

Will bit his lip and grabbed the paperwork. “Thank you,” he said softly. Nico nodded and turned to the baby, his expression melting into a playful smile.

An hour later, after a successful presentation, he went back to his office to find Nico with Lily in his lap while she reached out and touched his face. He kept making silly expressions while she explored his features, widening his eyes, letting out a trill with his lips, or expanding his cheeks.

Fighting a smile, Will knocked on the office door, making Nico jump and blush slightly. “Oh, hey. She’s a quiet baby,” he chuckled. “She has your eyes.”

“She’s my niece. Half-niece,” he answered. Nico raised an eyebrow, but Will shook his head. “Thank you for watching her. I’ll have a nanny by Monday. Have a good weekend, Nico.”

That Monday, when Will got to his office, he saw several shopping bags in one corner. They were from baby clothes stores and toy stores. As Will looked through them, he saw several outfits, booties, bibs, diapers, formula, soft toys, and stuffed animals. He stared at them for a moment before he heard footsteps behind him.

“Morning,” Nico said. He turned and saw him drinking a coffee, relaxed and unfazed. “I hope you don’t mind, but I got some stuff for Lily. I heard you saying you had to buy her things, and I assumed she’s small enough that she’d need this stuff.” He waved a hand in the direction of the bags. “There’s a little stuffed monkey in there somewhere that I think she’d really like.”

“Wh-Why?” he asked. He cleared his throat and shook his head. “I mean, why did you get all of this stuff? You didn’t need to.”

Nico furrowed his eyebrows and smiled. “I guess I’m weak for babies,” he said with a shrug. “Besides, have you seen those big blue eyes?” He took another sip from his coffee and walked away, leaving Will confused.

He sat down and began to sift through all of the items, smiling as he saw the cute little outfits. He couldn’t imagine his coworker looking through baby clothes and choosing things out. He was so reserved and serious, despite the cockiness. Will wouldn’t have thought he had a soft side for anything.

Later, while he was inputting some data into the computer, Nico came back and had a few more files for him. He sat and helped him sort through the information, making snide comments and sarcastic remarks now and then which quickly wore out Will’s positive view of him.

Before his gratitude was completely wiped out, Will decided to thank him for watching Lily and for the items he’d bought. Another coworker came in looking for a document in one of Will’s drawers, and while he looked, Will turned to Nico. “I wanted to thank you for watching Lily for the presentation. And for the things you bought. I know I was pretty rude when I first got back, but there… was… a lot of….” He frowned and trailed off as he noticed Nico tilting his head to look at the coworker who was leaning down to check another drawer.

Will furrowed his eyebrows as Nico’s attention was elsewhere, and when his coworker stood back up, he turned to Will and smiled. “Got it. Thanks.” As he walked out, Will noticed Nico smirking after him.

“Wow, okay obviously Percy’s ass had something more important to say than me, so never mind,” he snapped. Nico blinked and looked back at him.

“What? No. Asses don’t speak. But man, was his calling to me,” he joked. Will clenched his jaw and shook his head.

“Right, okay. So we’re done here, thanks for the help, you can go do whatever else you do in this building.” He waved a hand dismissing him and Nico furrowed his eyebrows and tilted his head.

“Wait a second, why are you upset?” Will looked at him and scoffed. As if. “Is it because I was checking out a guy? Because that’s discrimination.”

Will rolled his eyes and shook his head. “I don’t care if you’re gay or bi or pan or whatever. I’m frustrated because I was trying to apologize for having jumped to conclusions, and then you went and proved my first impression right. You’re rude and pompous and totally unprofessional-”

“And you’re totally jealous,” he interrupted with a smirk. Will stared at him, mouth open mid-sentence. “Right?”

“No,” he said with absolute certainty. “Trust me, I wouldn’t want you trying to check my ass out. You just need to be more professional.”

“You mean like you when you were calling me rude and pompous and-”

“Okay! Okay. Look, from now on, strictly professional. I won’t insult you, you don’t flirt with coworkers in my office.”

“You can’t stop me,” he said with a teasing smile, leaning forward over the desk. “You can’t fire me even if I do things you don’t like.” All of Will’s dislike came crawling back up in angry heat to his neck and he took a deep steadying breath.

The sad part, he was right. Will couldn’t do anything. “Right. Well, you are my coworker. So I suppose all I can do is be painfully polite.” He gave him a tense smile, but Nico seemed unfazed, looking at him arrogantly.

For the rest of the day, Will tried to interact with Nico as little as possible while Nico seemed to try and interact with him as much as possible. Sometimes it even seemed like he was blatantly flirting to piss Will off, but he didn’t seem to care. It was always subtle enough that Will didn’t want to call him out on it for fear of reading into things, but also obvious enough to where the comments made Will blush.

By the end of the day, one of Will’s friends, Paolo, stopped by his work. “Solace, you ready for your birthday dinner?” he asked, leaning against the door.

“Yeah, I’m definitely ready to go,” he said, feeling relieved. “Nico, please leave any other files on my desk, I’ll get to them in the morning.”

“Who’s Nico?” Paolo questioned.

“That would be me,” Nico answered behind him. He went into the office and looked at Will with large dark eyes. “Leaving already?” he asked innocently.

Will clenched his jaw and nodded. “Paolo, this is my coworker, Nico. Absolute ray of sunshine, just about my best friend.”

“Oh, really? Well, are you going to come to his birthday party tonight?” Paolo asked.

Will’s eyes widened and he interceded immediately. “Oh, no, Nico has stuff to do, it’s fine. Come on, you ready?”

“I can cancel,” Nico said. “I didn’t know it was your birthday.”

“Awesome,” Paolo said. “Here’s the address.” He grabbed a paper and wrote it down for him. “Come on, Will.”

With absolute dread, Will took the things Nico had bought for Lily and left with Paolo. “Why did you invite him?” he said tiredly.

“What? I thought you said he was just about your best friend!”

“That entire sentence was filled with sarcasm. How could you not tell?” he asked. Paolo grimaced and Will waved a dismissive hand. With Nico’s attitude and the tension and dislike between them, it was probable that he wouldn’t even go. He only said he would to push more of Will’s buttons.

Throughout the entire party, Will kept glancing anxiously at the door any time it opened. He kept dreading having to see Nico in his house and it was honestly the last thing he wanted on his birthday.

“You know, despite how much you say you don’t like him, you’re acting like a teenager waiting on a crush,” Paolo noted.

Will shook his head. “No, that’s not it. He’s frustrating. He makes work hell and he does it on purpose. Flirting and making a joke out of everything, he’s arrogant and just horrible to work with.”

“Flirting?” Paolo questioned. “Okay… have you ever considered that maybe he actually likes you and therefore finds excuses to bug you?”

“He’s known me for all of two days, Paolo. I highly doubt that’s what’s happening.”

Paolo shrugged and gestured to his room where Lily was sleeping. “He did buy a shitload of things for a kid that’s not even his.”

“He likes babies! He had to take care of Lily for an hour and he said something about her eyes, I don’t know. Liking Lily doesn’t mean liking me. Besides this isn’t elementary school.”

Again, Paolo shrugged and held up his beer. “If you say so.” He turned away and backtracked. “Also, you and Lily have the same eyes, so….” He smirked and walked away, leaving Will dumbfounded for a second.

A couple hours later, his guests were leaving, much to Will’s relief. It was a Monday and he wanted to go to bed before Lily woke him at three in the morning. Paolo offered to clean up while he got ready for bed.

“Actually, I’m going to step outside for a moment. Let me know if Lily wakes up.” Paolo nodded and Will went out to his porch, sitting on a bench. His thoughts wandered to the sister he didn’t know and the life he missed out on.

Did she need someone when she was pregnant? Was she scared? Was she funny? Did she want to be a mom? Did she know about Will? He had so many questions and no answers. Not only that, but he was a father now. He was in his mid-twenties, not dating, and a father. He had no idea how to do these things. He never thought he’d have to.

Someone cleared their throat, pulling him away from his thoughts, and he was surprised to see Nico on his porch. “Hey,” he said in surprise.

“Party over already?” he asked.

“Um… yeah, sort of.” Nico nodded and stepped closer. “It’s a Monday. I’ve got a kid. I don’t get to party like most twenty year-olds.”

Nico chuckled and nodded. “I guess that makes sense.” He lifted a gift bag and offered it to him. “I got you a gift.”

“What? Why?”

Nico chuckled and looked at the bag. “Okay, so usually when it’s someone’s birthday and there’s a party, people bring presents to celebrate-”

“No, I- I know how birthdays work,” he said exasperatedly. “I just… why are you getting me a gift?”

Nico shrugged and kicked at the ground. “I guess it’s also sort of an apology for being such a jerk to you. Here, open it.”

Will took the bag and opened it, pulling out a new, name-brand leather jacket. His eyebrows went up and he chuckled nervously. “This is… really nice, wow.”

Nico smiled and gestured for him to stand. “Come on, try it on.” He took the jacket and held it out for Will to slide his arms into. “Perfect fit. Leather looks good on you.”

Will smiled and looked down at himself, enjoying the feeling of the cool leather and the scent of a new jacket. “See, you can be nice,” he said, looking at Nico with a smile. “Thank you.” Nico smiled and nodded. “You know, Paolo was telling me he thought you were such a jerk because you have… feelings for me? Like we’re in grade school or something.”

Nico chuckled and furrowed his eyebrows. “I mean, would that bother you?”

The comment took him by surprise and he stammered for a second. “I mean… we work together. No, it… I just….” He took a breath and shook his head. “We work together. Nothing to do with you being a guy….”

He hummed in response, with his signature cocky smile. “Right. Well… I do have feelings for you.”

It felt like the ground had been ripped up from under him. He stared at Nico with wide eyes and blushing cheeks. “Y-You do?” he questioned.

Nico nodded. “I feel that you are annoying and controlling.”

And just like that, the world was righted. He frowned and scoffed in frustration. “See, why do you have to do that? Just as I’m changing my mind about you, you go and-”

Suddenly, Nico’s hand gripped his jacket and he pulled him into a kiss, his other hand cupping his face. Will felt his breaths stop and his mind began to race until it was a jumble of incoherent thoughts. Nico pulled away, and Will opened his eyes slowly, breathing heavily as he looked at him.

“Do that,” he whispered softly. Then he wrapped his arms around Nico, pulling him into another kiss which Nico immediately returned with more fervor than before. Will stumbled forward, pushing Nico back into the pillar of his porch as he kissed him. His hands slid into his hair, his teeth grazed his lip, and as Nico pulled him closer, he couldn’t help the dizziness he felt.

Finally he pulled away and stared at Nico with wide confused eyes, flushed cheeks, and tingling lips. Nico smiled and rubbed his thumb across his cheek. “Come on Freckles, don’t look so horrified,” he murmured.

“I’m not,” he answered softly.

His frustrating coworker hummed and tugged lightly on his hair. “Those big blue eyes make me absolutely weak.” Will laughed nervously and Nico pulled him into another kiss. “Happy birthday, Freckles.”

Love Sick, Lafayette x Reader

Prompt: 15. “Can I kiss you?” + Lafayette Drabble

Words: 304

Author’s Note: Lafayette always needs to be characterized as a bumbling dummy. Too cute.

Warnings: Badly translated French. Very short.

“You sure you’re feeling alright, Laf?” You questioned your friend, who had yet to touch his beer or speak more than a simple greeting. Meanwhile, his friends were well into their third round and were already starting to bother the table next to you.

“I’m fine, might be getting sick.” He murmured unconvincingly.

“Oh yeah,” Laurens drawled, “You’re sick alright. Love sick.” A swift kick from Lafayette’s leather boot quickly shut him up, but certainly didn’t put a damper on his mood. Laurens immediately began animatedly chattering with Alexander, something about ‘lovebirds’ and ‘weren’t the French supposed to be smooth?’.

“Can I speak to you outside?” He asked you, gesturing to the door of the bar. You shrugged, allowing him to escort you into the dimly lit street. Once settled beneath a streetlamp, he practically burst at the seams with, “Je sais que je n'ai pas beaucoup d'argent, ou un nom de premier plan, mais vous me rendre plus heureux que je ne pensais que quelqu'un pourrait, et je crois que si vous me donniez une chance que je pourrais vous rendre aussi heureux que vous me faites.” He watched you expectantly, nervous. His hands fidgeted, he avoided direct eye contact.

“I’m sorry, you’re going to have to translate, Laf. I only caught about half of that.” You reached for his hands, steadying them. He considered his next move carefully.

“Can I kiss you?” He finally whispered. He was met with silence and he knew he should have just kept his mouth shut.

“Now, Lafayette, I’m not a fluent French speaker, but I know for a fact all of that doesn’t translate into ‘Can I kiss you?’.” You teased, eliminating the distance between you. He towered over you, and you never felt so safe. “You’d be stupid if you didn’t kiss me right now.”

Translation (At least, as reliable a translation as Google can provide) : I know I don’t have much money, or a prominent name, but you make me happier than I ever thought someone could, and I believe that if you gave me a chance I could make you as happy as you make me.

You Suck ~ Jack Maynard

Characters: Jack x reader

Word count: 603

Summary: Getting called at 4 in the morning is never welcoming but waking up at 7 in the morning to the sound puking is just down right terrible.

Requested: “Jacks really hungover and Y/N looks after him”

Note: This is short but two in one day, aren’t you lucky😋

I been up all night, no sleep
Cause I feel like I’m always dreaming…

Groaning, you awoke to your phone ringing. Reaching over you answered it groggily, “Hello?”

Y/N.” A loud giggling rang through your ears.

Can you come get me please?

“Where’s the boys?” You asked already slipping on some shoes, haven in falling asleep in a long shirt and tights.

They all left with girls and I want to be with my girl.

“Okay baby, where are you?”

You’re coming? I’m at xo princess.

“I’m getting in the car now.”

Okay princess. I love you.”

“Love you too Jack.” You sighed climbing into your car and making your way to the club.

Another ten minutes later, you were pulling the to the hectic club where you saw your boyfriend arguing with another man. Rolling the window down you called his name, “Jack.”

As soon as he heard your voice he glared at the man and strolled towards the car rolling his eyes, he opened the door smiling at you softly. “Hey baby.”

“You okay?” You asked started the car once he was settled in.

“I’m good, sorry for waking you at four in the morning.” He smiled sheepishly at you, his hand resting on your thigh.

Laughing softly, you smiled over at him before turning attention back to the road, “What happened tonight then?”

Jack burst into laughter thinking back, “Well, Conor…”

Jack told you everything that happened that night and he was still going by the time you were putting him to bed and he slowly started to drift to sleep, still mumbling.

It was still early morning when you felt the bed bounce slightly and the sound of someone throwing up in your bathroom. Getting up you quickly made your way to your kitchen, filling up a glass of water and grabbing tablets for you boyfriend’s headache. Opening the fridge you found some leftover pancakes from the night before quickly putting them on the plate, you made your way back to your bedroom.

Entering your bedroom, Jack was wrapped up in the blankets with a pouty look on his face. “I don’t feel good.”

“Here, I got you some water and ibuprofen.” You whispered handing him the items then placing the pancakes on the bedside table. You climbed back into the bed while Jack took the ibuprofen and gulped down the glass of water, once he was finished he rested himself back down into your arms like a Kola.

“I’m sorry.” He whispered into your neck, humming slightly when you started running your fingers through his hair.

“For what?” You whispered back.

“I’m sorry I called you last night to come and get me. I could have got an uber but apparently, drunk me wanted you.”

“Don’t have to say sorry, I’ll always come and get you.”

Jack lifted his head up smiling softly at you, “I love you.”

Pressing your lips to his you mumbled an ‘I love you too’ before pulling back smiling at Jack.

The both of you laid in silence a bit more until Jack’s stomach rumbled loudly, causing the both of you to laugh. Reaching your arm over, you grabbed the plate of pancakes and before you could blink, Jack had grabbed the plate and had already half one down his throat.

“Hungry?” You chuckled grabbing one as well.

Jack stopped eating to look up at you, “Seriously I love you.”

“Yeah, I love you too.” You laughed.

“I was talking to the pancake.”

“Get the fuck out my bed before I kick you out.”

“I was joking! I love you more!

Notes || Jughead Jones

Prompt: I have an idea! A fic where Juggie used you to find info on Jason and you find out cause he made like a log about it and you get super upset because you love him but Juggie says it was a mistake cause he fell in love with you and kissssssessssss

Requested By: Anon

Warnings: Angst, fluff

A/N: Ok so since we know nothing about Jason I’m just going to make stuff up about him based off of what Cheryl says about him.

“So what was Jason like?” the raven haired boy sitting in front of you asked.

“He was cool, he really loved his sister. He would do anything for her,” you reply. A pang of sadness arises in your chest.

You are friends with Cheryl, mostly because your families are super close. Of course being a River Vixen also makes you close to her, since you are close to Cheryl it meant that you were close to Jason. When Jason was murdered you were the only one there for Cheryl, her parents were upset but they spent no time trying to comfort her.

You met Jughead by chance really, you were partnered up with him for a chemistry assignment, which meant you had to get to know him. It turned out he wasn’t as weird as Reggie made him out to be. Hence you started to attempt to be friends with him. It took months but Jughead finally let you into his little circle. But recently your feelings towards the writer started to change, he is sweet, his humor is rather dark and dry but it’s funny.

“I mean could he of done anything to get murdered?” Jughead asks.

“No. And can we not talk about this please it’s just really depressing,” you sigh.

“Fine, whatever I have to help Betty with the Blue and Gold anyway,” he grabs his things and walks off.

A couple of papers fall out of his things, when you notice though he’s already to far gone for you to catch up, so you decide to hang on to them until tomorrow. The papers look like notes so knowing that he’s ahead in his classes you decide to take a read of them.

Y/N is super close to Blossoms, some info should be there. Apparently the families are close. Y/N and Jason were best friends that makes my life easier.

The list continued with little bits of information your “friend” worked out of you. He was so subtle you didn’t even realize Jughead was doing that. You find a sticky note and write:

Really Jughead I thought we were friends, but I guess not. Also to think I had a crush on you.

You put the sticky note on the papers and slip them into his locker.

Time skip to the next day

You go to lounge like usual and hear Reggie Mantles musings about how Sheriff Keller thinks he did it. It does get a little tiring hearing him complain each day but you’ve learned to block it out.

Cheryl enters the room and pulls you out because you are late for cheer practice. On your way to the locker room to change an arm grabs you and pulls you over. Your beanie clad friend pulls you into an empty classroom.

“What Jughead,” you snap.

“Y/N, look I’m sorry. What I did was an honest mistake. I never should of done that. I never thought I’d say this but, I’m in love with you. I hope you can forgive me,” Jughead blurts.

“Aww Juggie. I do agree what you did was wrong but I guess I can forgive you.”

Jughead pulls you close to him and puts his lips on yours. You pull apart as you hear Cheryl calling for you. You quickly exit the classroom with a smile plastered on your face.

“What’s got you so happy?” Cheryl asks.

“Nothing,” you reply, butterflies flittering in your stomach.

“Sure,” Cheryl rolls her eyes.

Your phone beeps in your bag. You pull it out and read:

Pop’s at 5? - Jughead

Are you asking me out on a date???

Yes, in-fact I am

I would love to

Erwin had dragged Levi to his suit fitting. They were in Oxford Circus anyway “It won’t take long” Erwin assured. Levi hated, hated! Saville Row. It was too posh and stuffy filled with the rich bastards who had so much money they could buy whatever they want. Levi curses at himself because, well, he and Erwin are those people now. He remembers when he was little his mum saved up money for months in order to buy him new school shoes. Most of his clothes were from charity shops, so getting brand new shoes was amazing. But now, he sits with his Louis vuitton and tom ford shopping bags not even thinking about the money.

I absolutely love this. It’s 6.07 and Dean has Soulless tied up. Soulless is asking very politely to be let go, assuring Dean nothing like what happened in 6.05 will ever happened again, apologizing, the whole nine yards. And Dean’s answer to everything is “No, tough.”

So after Soulless tries every avenue he can to get Dean to decide to let him loose, he says “Ok, I didn’t want it to come to this but…” and just stands the fuck up out of the chair because he had already gotten himself untied. He could have left whenever he wants, but he stayed sitting there trying to plead with Dean so Dean could make the decision to let Sam go, so he’d feel like it was his idea, so he’d feel more in control.

I think that is incredibly important to note when discussing Soulless Sam. Again we see another example of where he could use Sam’s giant form to physically force his way out of a situation with Dean, but he choose not to.

How to: study multiple languages at once!

So this is how I study multiple languages at once. Hopefully, the tips here will help someone else!

The basics:

  • As others have said, try to avoid studying two closely-related languages at the same time, unless you’re already at an intermediate or advanced level in one of them. This just leads to confusion of grammatical structures and vocab.
  • Be realistic. Learning two languages at once is going to take twice as long as learning one, and learning four languages at once is going to take twice as long as learning two. That’s okay, but don’t expect to be fluent in any of them in six months, and don’t get too down on yourself for not progressing as much as you’d hope. Take your time, you will get there

Time management:

Know how to prioritise your languages.

  • To figure out how much time you’re willing to spend on each language, list your target languages in order of priority. For me, French is most important, followed by German, and then Danish. This is because I’m currently studying in preparation for a degree in French and German, but I’ll be taking an intermediate class in French, whereas German is a beginner’s class. I’m not formally studying Danish at all, so Danish is my last priority.

Know how you study most effectively.

  • Personally, I like studying to an objective rather than to time. Generally, that objective will be “cover the sentence structure for a main clause”, or “cover exceptions for how verbs are conjugated in the present tense”, for example. If you’re like me, but have limited time to study, choose an objective that won’t take long to cover, such as “note down the endings for personal pronouns in the present tense”.
  • Also be careful to make use of your time when you are studying - if you already know everything there is to know about personal pronouns, there’s no point in reviewing them unless you’re struggling to use them in practice.

Figure out when (and what) you can study.

If you have, say, an hour a day to study three different languages, you need to figure out what you can study and when. There’s a few different ways to split this up:

  • Monday - Friday: two languages every day, then an hour for the third on Saturday and Sunday. (2hrs 30mins for two languages a week, 2 hours a week for the third.)
  • Monday - Saturday: alternate three languages, then twenty minutes each on Sunday. (2hrs 20mins per language per week.)
  • Monday - Saturday: alternate two languages, then an hour on Sunday for the third. (3 hours for two languages a week, 1 hour a week for the third.)

Note: I use Duolingo and Memrise every day, but I don’t include them in the time allocated above. Duolingo and Memrise are just so I can get a little practice in at all my target languages every day, even if I’m not properly studying them.

If you’re significantly better at one language:

  • Spend less time on a language that you’re more familiar with. If you already have a feel for French but not German, spend more time on German, especially if you’ve already studied French before.

If you have a lot of spare time:

  • Use it effectively. In this case, like me, you don’t necessarily need to plan your time to the minute.
  • Personally, I use weekdays to study French and German. Evenings and weekends are for Danish, and any extra French or German study I feel like doing. The most important thing is to use the time effectively - just because you’re able to write out verb conjugations for an hour straight, doesn’t mean it’s going to help you remember them (unless it works for you, in which case, go for it!).

When you have little spare time:

  • When you only have a little spare time for languages each day, try not to use it for Duolingo or Memrise. Use Duo when travelling, making dinner, or any time you have five minutes to yourself, and set the goal as low as possible. Instead, use the little time you have to quickly cover concepts that you’re particularly struggling with, have a ten minute chat with a native speaker, post something on lang-8 (even if it’s only two sentences!) or make a vocab list. Duo is great, but not when you’re using it instead of using your time more effectively.

Avoid confusing languages:

If you’re studying two or more languages in one day:

  • Try to choose two languages from different families to study that day. For example, if you’re choosing between studying French, Spanish, Danish and Norwegian each week, dedicate a few days to studying French and Danish, and the rest of the week to studying Spanish and Norwegian. You could also alternate weekly to avoid as much confusion as possible.
  • If I’m taking a break of more than half an hour, I like to study one language before the break, and another language after the break, as well.

Separate them until you’re used to them:

  • Until you have a feel for each language, keep them totally separate. Don’t put songs from different languages into the same playlist, don’t watch one movie in Norwegian followed by one in Danish, and don’t revise your French notes immediately after revising your Spanish notes.

Understand the basics:

  • It’s much easier to avoid confusing languages when you have a good feel for each language, and this is easier when you understand common concepts. Grammatically, this refers to sentence structure, personal and possessive pronouns, and the most common tenses. In terms of vocab, knowing some common prepositions and conjugations as well as common nouns and verbs is definitely helpful.

It’s okay to compare:

  • It can also be helpful to compare concepts you’re already used to. Constructing the present perfect is essentially the same in both French and German: take the present tense of “to be” or “to have”, and the past participle. I came across this concept in French first, and so it didn’t take long for me to understand it in German - I just had to adjust accordingly. It’s okay to compare, as long as it’s comparison, and not confusion.

Start studying from different levels:

  • When I started studying French on my own, I had already been studying Danish for a couple years (though not always intently). It took a little while for the French I already knew to come back to me, but it did come back. As I was already familiar with both Danish and French when I started studying French, it was a lot easier to separate them in my mind. I waited until I had re-familiarised myself with French before I started German. Next, I’m going to start learning Korean, but again, I’m waiting until I have a more solid understanding of German. You don’t have to wait until you’re fluent or intermediate in one language, but being familiar with the languages you’re already learning before starting another is incredibly beneficial.

For Duolingo and Memrise:

  • My Duo goal is set to 30xp - 1 lesson per language - and I have 5 minute goals for each language on Memrise. Rather than hitting 30xp on Duo, and then all my goals on Memrise, I do 10 xp of German, then my German on memrise, and repeat for French and Danish.

I hope this helps someone! If there’s anything you think I should add, or anything you find helpful, please let me know!

Dripping in Diamonds Pt. 2

Pt. 1

“Fuck, I can’t believe you did this. Were you ever going to tell me? I ran away from my family for a reason Alfie; they’re shit. I didn’t want to be involved in that life anymore, but I guess it follows me around.” You say harshly, throwing clothes haphazardly into a suitcase on the bed. You wanted your words to hurt, to suggest that Alfie was just as bad as them, which you were slowly starting to realize was true. Of course you knew all along that he was practically the same as your brother’s, Tommy especially, but you chose to ignore it. Now you couldn’t.

“Listen, its best for the company, yeah? Isn’t that what we both want?” He says, trying to stop you but you fight against his grip.

“I want you to stop being a little prick and tell me everything about the business. I want to be your equal, and I definitely don’t want to be kept in the dark.” Your voice sounds harsher than it’s ever been, and his silence is confirmation. You look at him before grabbing your suitcase and walking out of the room.
