i better go back to my assignment

Five Times Ladybug Didn't Recognize Her Partner and One Time She Did

A sequel to Five Times Gabriel Agreste Didn’t Akumatize His Son and One Time He Did. I really wanted to leave it as it was, but I had to come back and give this a happier ending. And of course it ran away from me and got way longer than I meant it to.

I hope you enjoy!

“Is everything okay, kitty?”

Chat Noir looked over at her. “What?”

“You seem a little out of it.”

He shrugged. “No, just…” He sighed. “My dad’s not coming to something kind of…important to me.”

She frowned. “I’m sorry.”

“I mean, I knew he wouldn’t, but… I guess I hoped things would be different now.”

“It’s nothing.”

By the way he looked at her, she knew she shouldn’t press. After all, there was only so much they could share without revealing their identities. “Well…” she gently patted his shoulder. “Maybe you can ask some friends to come instead.” She wished she could attend, but without knowing who he was, that would be impossible.

Sometimes, keeping their identities safe was difficult and even painful, but she knew it was better this way. Once they’d discussed it, he’d even agreed with her.

Still, as Marinette watched Adrien play at his recital, painfully aware of Gabriel Agreste’s absence, she couldn’t help but wonder if someone had gone to Chat Noir’s event to support him the way she, Nino, and Alya had attended Adrien’s recital. She hoped so.

One of the first things I learned in my freshman year is the absolute need to study every single day. Even if there is no big test or assignment around the corner, reviewing your classes daily is the only way to make sure you are strengthening your knowledge on whatever you are learning, as well as filling in any gaps on unknown material that was lectured before. For weeks (and months) I was certain that people who told me I needed to study every day were just very unorganized people or were frightening me on purpose. However, if you are taking a course heavy in information like Law, you will quickly understand that it will be very difficult to remember every single detail that was lectured in multiple subjects, on the long run – and, in the end, you are also tested on the small details and not only on the big overall scheme of each class. If I could go back to my first semester, I would really push myself harder and organize my days to be able to review my previous classes.

Being a coffee hater throughout high school, I was always sure that I would never like the taste of it in my life. However, as soon as I got into my second year of college, I found out that the only way to survive a few of my classes was to drink an expresso beforehand. My addiction to coffee began as a need to survive. Now that I look back, my first year in college probably would have turned out better if I had more energy in class and while doing my assignments. However, I still try my hardest to never drink more than one cup a day – that really keeps my energy levels up, without creating addiction.

One of the things no one told me before going to Law School was the ridiculous amount of money I would spend on textbooks every single semester. Each one of my classes requires one or two mandatory textbooks, plus statute law and a bunch of optional readings that most of the time you end up buying because they are nowhere to be found in the library. Also, since Law is constantly being developed and changed, buying second hand books is not the best idea - most of the legal references in those books are probably outdated.
I remember that in my first year of Law School I refused to buy most of the textbooks the professors required me to, and I tried my hardest to study only with my class notes. Well, guess what? That ended up, as expected, in poor grades. The problem with Law is that 50% of our grade is the result of how hard we work at home. In class the professor doesn’t lecture ALL of the material we need to learn; they just summarize it as best as they can and highlight a few important things that they find relevant. However, in the final exam, all those details and footnotes in the textbooks will prove really useful to solve the cases and if you didn’t invest in your textbooks in the beginning of your term, you will not be able to use that information in your answers, which really harms your grade.

That takes me to the next point. For me, the best learning method is preparing all classes beforehand, be it lectures or discussion based classes. I only realized this in the end of my second year in college - and I think it makes a huge difference in your overall performance in class; if your professor uses the Socratic method to teach, preparing your classes thoroughly beforehand is absolutely essential!

Basically, if you anticipate most of what is going to be taught in your class, you will have most of the work done for that specific group of topics or information. By taking your own notes to class and completing them with what the information that the professor adds during the lecture, you will be able to reinforce your knowledge on the subject, finishing any incomplete arguments that you have written down and also letting you participate in class, asking questions on the thematic you’ve studied and discussing it with your professor and classmates. Also, preparing classes beforehand will let you organize your time better, scheduling a certain time to prepare a certain topic and/or chapter.

Unfortunately, I found it almost impossible to prepare classes and do all of this homework while I was handwriting my notes. If I could turn back in time and change something during my time in college, I would certainly stop spending so much time making everything pretty and would start typing it all. I am a big fan of handwriting notes - I love pens, stationery and also the handwriting part in itself. However, when I started getting an excessive workload, insisting on handwriting all of my preparatory notes, completing them in class and also solve and summarize case law by hand was hurting my grades, my social life and my stress levels (and my hand, lol). I then had to make the hard decision to give up on all of my pretty stationery and start bringing my laptop to class.

I still handwrite a few notes, especially when I use the column method (which you can find more about here), but I am actually happy now that I have made the change – I can be much more productive and organized while saving a huge amount of time for all the other things I enjoy doing.

Finally, and I think this is the most important piece of advice I can give you: some people enter college with a very specific mind-set on what they want to do with their lives. While you are reading this, there is a huge possibility that you have already thought about a certain career; maybe you are picking only the classes that you think will help down that career path, as well.

However, never ignore all the other options that will be laid out for you. I can personally speak about my own experience: when I entered Law School back when I was 18 (I am now 21), I had a very specific idea of what I wanted to accomplish after I graduated - I was sure I wanted to be a judge. As soon as I got into my second year and started studying the most basic principles of contract law, I was 100% sure that I had actually changed my mind, and that it was imperative to purse contract law. Then, in my 5th semester, I started studying Tax Law - I still remember thinking that Tax Law was it and I was then decided to pursue it for my master’s degree; but then, I was able to get an internship in a law firm, in the Intellectual Property Law department; and you know what? I changed my mind again

So it’s perfectly normal to change your mind along the way; you are not less worthy of college just because you are still not sure of what you want to do career wise. Also, changing majors is fine - it’s just a sign that you are progressing as a human being and as a student, that you were willing to embrace new opportunities and give up on something that would not make you happy. Just make sure that you do your research beforehand on different career paths and use all the opportunities that college gives you in order to learn new things and meet new people. Internships, and other short-termed opportunities like job-shadowing programs are great ways to understand if you fit in the specific area you are thinking of pursuing or if, in real life, it has nothing to do with you.

Lots of luck!

"friend" asks me if she can copy an assignment...

A girl I used to be friends with (you’ll find out why I decided to break that “friendship”) in high school was in almost all the same classes as me, including my maths class. Now I had already caught onto the fact that she was just outright using me for her own gain. She barely ever talked to me outside of class or school, only invited me to stuff where she would get something from me (like her birthday party), etc etc. I was kind of quiet and shy at school so I let most things slide, but this was the last straw and I wasn’t going to let her use me this time. So we had the same maths assignment, and we worked together completing the first super easy part in class. After that, I worked on it by myself at home for about a week and finished it. Anyway I’m sitting in class one day (few days before the due date of the assignment) which is one of the classes I don’t have at the same time as this girl. I’m browsing my emails and one pops up from this girl. She says that she was wondering if I could send her my maths assignment so she can “check that what she’s done is correct”. She also says that she’s apparently “pretty much finished” and just wants to confirm she’s been doing the right thing. Red flag, as she’s asked to copy my assignments before, but her wording makes me think she’s done absolutely nothing and is trying to copy/hand up my answers. I completely ignore the email and pretend I never got it, and since she refuses to talk to me outside of class, she can’t bring it up. The due date arrives and the teacher is getting us to print off and hand up our assignments. I hand up my fully completed one and sit down to watch what this girl will hand up. Much to my petty delight, she doesn’t print off anything and just sits at her desk. To then make it even better, the teacher actually calls her out in front of the class asking where her assignment is, and she has to admit she hasn’t finished it/done any of it. The teacher tells her to go print off what she’s done anyway and when she comes back from the print room she hands up one mostly blank page with a title and one small table. I’m absolutely revelling in this, and now I think back on it, I totally should have turned to her and said sweetly, “I thought you had almost finished it? :)” (shit eating grin included).

Tl;dr girl tries to use me for answers to assignment, gets called out in front of class, hands up almost nothing.

i was with my mamá and abuelita today and we were talking about school and shit that teachers put us through and it’s just amazing how it still applies now.

My mamá told me that her school counselor told her she’s “better off staying home and having babies like you people do,” in response to her dream of going to college. Back when I was in high school I had a very similar experience with my counselor who told me “not to waste her time,” when I asked about college because obviously I was never going to go to college.

Then her and my abuelita BOTH had stories about teachers who didn’t believe they did homework assignments because they couldn’t possibly be smart enough. And! I had the same experience in an English class when a teacher accused me of cheating because there was no way I could write one way and speak another way.

My abuelita never finished school, my mamá never went to college, and it’s taken me a long time to work up the courage to start going to college. It’s so infuriating to think how much these people in charge have tried and succeeded in keeping women of color down and it hurts to see my mamá regretting the chance she missed. I fucking hate that this is a story that so many of us have.

I got back my first legal writing assignment grade

I was one of the worst in the class. I’m not going to lie, I’m devastated. I’m pissed.

I’m trying to stay positive. I’m going to office hours tomorrow and going to work even harder on this next assignment.

I want nothing more than this blog to be honest and a true reflection of my law school life and honestly, I’m not happy with where I right now. But I’m going to work to get better.

I got accepted to the University I really wanted to go, and started the semester this September! (It took one painful rejection to get there haha) These few months have been crazy, but looking back at it, it was one of the most eventful moments of my life!

Not getting much time to draw nowadays but I’m trying to manage my time better to do some doodlios!

I love you too!

That’s so sweet of you to say, thank you so much! I wanted a short cut since long back so this makes me really happy. Got the cut a while ago but I didn’t get the chance to make a post about it. I also dyed ‘em orange/brown!

I’ve been great! Hope you all are doing well too!

Mr. Smartass [M]

What happens when you get partnered with know-it-all, Kim Namjoon, for a class project?

4k / smut / college!AU

“You will be partnered with…Namjoon Kim.”

Your professor’s words hung in the air, tension filling the large classroom.

Your fists clenched by your sides, trying your best to keep a neutral expression because you knew all eyes were on you, waiting for a reaction. Despite praying to be matched with your best friend, your professor’s “random” selection process had other plans. Just your luck, you had been partnered with the resident class know-it-all.

   Just perfect.

Namjoon was an exchange student from South Korea that had come earlier in the semester, though you honestly wouldn’t have known he wasn’t born in the States because his accent was almost unnoticeable. There’s always been some palpable tension between the two of you, even dating back to the first day of class. Whenever you went to answer a question, he would refute it with some smartass comment. The two of you would go on for minutes, debating heatedly back and forth from across the classroom while everyone looked on like they were waiting for things to get violent (and it almost did, several times you had to stop yourself from throwing your textbook at his perfectly groomed head).

You both were undoubtedly the best students in the class, though, if Namjoon’s grade was even a decimal point higher, you knew it was because he kissed the professor’s ass way more than necessary.

Your professor continued reading the rest of the pairs from his list and you took a deep breath, thinking of ways to get out of this assignment.

“I’m expecting great things from you all,” he said, looking between you and Namjoon with a smile before sending a wink in your direction. Your jaw dropped; this was definitely a setup, “Class is dismissed! Don’t forget to meet up with your partners before you leave and exchange emails and phone numbers!” he called over the sound of thank you’s and chairs scraping against the floor.
Putting your pride aside, you rose from your chair and walked to the other end of the room, rolling your eyes as you passed your best friend. She was gave you a pitiful smile as she spoke to her partner, a boy with a headful of greasy curls that covered half his face.

You finally made it over to him, and his eyes were trained on something he was reading on his phone.

“Namjoon,” you said cordially.

“Y/N,” he replied dryly, not even bothering to look up from the device.

Stolen glances and pink cheeks

Fandom: Harry Potter (Marauders era)

Pairing: Reader x Young Remus Lupin

Warnings: none just fluff

Request: maybe a lil remmy one where he’s totally in love with y/n and is always teased for it? and he’s so shy and cute around her and then one day they kiss or something and the other boys find them and tease them?? iDK ITS WEIRD BUT ILY

Word Count: 1.1k

The Marauders sat in the library, an unusual sight but Remus made them go there if they wanted his help with this assignment. They all were at the table, researching for their project they had waited until the last minute for, except Remus who had finished last week.

The way studying with the marauders goes is Remus is usually hard at work, Sirius is usually ogling a girl across the room, James has managed to find Lily in a room with at least a hundred people in it and he just stares at her instead of the pages of his book and Peter is staring at nothing, just lost in his own mind.

Today was a bit different though, while the rest of the marauders were into their old habits Remus had picked up one quite like James. Although Remus didn’t tell anybody he had developed an ever-growing crush on a girl, and since it’s Remus he doesn’t think he deserves you, but maybe he deserves to look at you just for a minute.

But he didn’t plan to get lost starring at the way you griped the corner of your book you were reading, the way you chewed on your lip as you concentrated and broke your focus when your hair fell in your face to brush it back behind your ear and look up.

You tucked your hair behind your ear, too into your book to put it down and fix your messy half bun that was on top of your head. You looked up for a moment though, to check on reality, you noticed the library was more full than usual, you remembered the assignment due tomorrow that you had finished a couple days ago. You noticed some people you’d never seen before and your eyes scanned the room until your eyes locked with another’s, Remus Lupin. You had to admit to yourself that he was really cute, nice, sweet, funny and maybe you liked him, just a little.

You looked at him while he looked at you and you smiled causing him to give a small smile back and look away, both of your faces shaded pink from the small interaction, you brushed it off and dived back into your book.

Remus looked down into his book but not before Sirius could notice his pink cheeks, “Moony what’s got you all bothered?” this got the attention of the other marauders. James butted in “Remus here probably was looking at a pretty girl” Peter laughed “it’s probably Y/N, he stares at her all the time” Remus’ cheeks turned red “I was not, I was just, its hot in here and I” Sirius cut him off “no need to lie to us moony, I can see Y/N is sitting right across from us, oh she’s a pretty one Remus, go talk to her”

Remus closed his book “Go talk to her? Are you mad I can’t just do that Pad foot I’m not, well I’m not you!”

James was quick to tease Remus, “You can turn into a werewolf every month but you can’t talk to a girl? “Remus glared at James “that’s exactly why I can’t talk to her” Sirius stood up and walked behind Remus “excuses, excuses Moony” Sirius pulled Remus’ chair out from the table and pushed him out of his seat. As they both stood Sirius whispered to Remus “now do I have to hold your hand and walk you over there or are you going to do it yourself?”

Remus gulped “well you’re not giving me much of a choice.”and before he could argue any further Sirius gave him a little push and the marauders al sat at the table watching anxiously behind their books.

You had just finished a chapter when you noticed Remus walking towards you, you lowered your book placing your hand between the closed pages as to not lose your spot. Remus simply walked up and sat beside you without even looking at you. You turned to him “hello Remus, what brings you over here?”you tried to sound as calm as possible. Remus looked up at you “what, what brings me here, oh I just, well Sirius told, uh you, you bring me here.” You smiled at his awkward statement “I bring you here?” Remus looked over to his table and then back to you as he breathed in deeply he replied “yeah I came here to talk to you, but it’s not going very well already.” You placed your hand over his “I think it’s going just fine” Remus smiled and looked at your hand on his. “Y/N can I take you somewhere, like on a date, would you go with me?” he stuttered nervously. “Remus I’d love to”.

Remus stood up and smiled brightly and you stood up too “alright well I better get back to my friends, imp helping them with the assignment for potions”as Remus turned to walk away you grabbed his hand pulling back as you placed a kiss to his cheek, this startled Remus but also gave him the bit of courage he needed to then pull you towards him as he kissed you on the lips gently, your noses brushed and your breath caught in your throat as your book fell from your hand and onto the floor in this moment of bliss. The moment ended by the noisy Marauders at the table yelling Remus’ name and cheering, it’s like those boys didn’t understand the concept of a library. You pulled away and smiled at Remus “yeah, it sounds like you better get back to them. Remus looked at you and then to your book lying on the floor, he quickly picked it up and tried to apologize “Y/N your book I’m sorr-” “It’s okay Rem, I’m gonna have to re-read that last chapter anyways”

For the rest of the time you sat in the library reading you would look up every once in while just to see Remus and smile at him, or catch him reading something in the book to his friends. The feelings growing in your chest were assuring you that you may like him more than just a little bit.

1. Clearing the misunderstanding

“No, no, no! I need that back, please!”

But Connor’s already storming off, and Evan… Evan can’t let him take it. He can’t. What if he shows Zoe? What if he shows the whole school? No. No. He can’t. He can’t let that happen.

It’s the fear that pushes him to run after Connor and grab his arm, pleading for him to stop. And when Connor twists around and yanks his arm out of Evan’s grip with a vicious, “Get the hell off me!”, Evan won’t deny that he flinches back and almost runs off. If it were any other situation, he’d retreat and let Connor go. Let it go. But the panic of imagining how much worse this could get if he did keeps Evan right where he is, and he ends up pouring out a rambling, stuttering explanation.

“Please, I really need that back,” He says, voice wavering embarrassingly while his hands flail in nonsensical gestures. “It really wasn’t meant for you. Like, at all. I have a therapist… and they said, they wanted me to write a letter to myself. You know, like write positive thoughts and all. And that’s supposed to make me feel better. A psych yourself up sorta thing. But like, it didn’t work. It doesn’t work. Because… haha, because you know, it really hasn’t been good so far? It’s been pretty bad. I mean,  you shoved me on the first day back. Not… not that it’s your fault! I don’t blame you! Like, who likes it when someone’s laughing at them. I sure don’t. But I wasn’t, by the way. Laughing at you, I mean. And… um, where was I going with this? The letter! Yes. I have to bring it to my session, it was an assignment. So um… if I could get it back…”

He trails off with an awkward laugh, eyes flickering down to stare at the ground and face burning in shame. He’s so screwed.

Connor’s disgusted scoff is enough to tell him he’s ruined all chances making it out of this with any semblance of dignity or a even lack of animosity from the guy.

“Therapists, huh?”

Evan nods. Words aren’t doing so great for him, afterall.

“They think a fucking letter is going to do anything? What a load of shit.”

Again, Evan nods.

“They always think they know what’s best. They don’t even think that we all got our own ways of dealing with shit. Or that things that work for others isn’t going to work for us. You. They won’t work for you. It doesn’t help, right?” Connor asks.

Evan hesitates, then shakes his head. “No,” he murmurs. “It doesn’t help.”

“But you gotta show something that makes them think you’re doing better?”

There’s a loaded silence. Heavy and uncomfortable. He can feel Connor staring him down, but he has no idea what the guy is thinking.

“Here, then,” says Connor, and then he tears the letter in half. Right in front of Evan eyes. And he folds it over, and tears it again. Evan can’t believe what he’s seeing, his mouth opened in dumbfounded shock. Connor looks back at him with a raised brow, like Evan’s the one being weird. “Look, don’t show them this. Show them your cast instead.”

Looking down at his cast, all Evan can see is the glaringly, obvious blocky letters of ‘CONNOR’ scrawled over it. He’s sure the confusion he feels is not at all subtle.

“Tell them you made a friend. So you forgot about the assignment. Or you were busy,” Connor explains. “It’ll look a ton better than that sorry excuse of a letter you wrote.” He holds his hand out and drops the shredded remains of the letter into Evan’s hand. “Or don’t do it. I don’t care. It’s your fucking life.”

“Oh…” says Evan, fingers clasping over the pieces of paper in a loose grip. “Th… thanks.” It’s a good plan. A good alternative. One that won’t make his mum disappointed. But does he really want to lie?

'Haven’t you, already?’ says a voice in his head. He glances back at his cast and thinks the voice does have a point.

“Guess I’ll see you around then. Later.”

He looks back up to see Connor already walking away. Of course, he wasn’t expecting a friendlier goodbye. He’s lucky he didn’t get punched or something. Thank goodness for small graces, huh?

“Th… thank you.” It startles Evan to realise he’s even calling out to Connor. But he supposes the guy’s helped him out. So he should be grateful. He raises his broken arm. “For this. Thanks.”

It’s possible he’s imagining it. But he swears he sees Connor look a little less murderous.

And then, the impossible happens.

Connor smiles at him.

“Evan, right?”

Evan nods emphatically. Maybe… maybe this isn’t going to be such a bad day afterall.

But then Connor’s smile drops, replaced with a menacing glare.

“Evan, stay the hell away from my sister.”

Yup, this is not going to be a good day.

An alternate read of I Am My Mom would be a very believable “modern (i.e. gritty)” buddy cop starring Aquamarine and Topaz.

Aquamarine is the veteran who’s “getting too old for this” but refuses to drop her post because she doesn’t trust new blood with an old-school job, which is why she isn’t beyond using violence and going “Bad cop” on Steven, the humans, and the other Crystal Gems.

“You better finish up back there or I’m turning this ship arou– oh wait that’s exactly what they want. Just get it done!”

And Topaz is the fresh-faced newbie full of dreams assigned to the kind of missions she really doesn’t want to do, with a partner who clearly doesn’t value her contribution.

But she’s sticking it out because of her deep loyalty to Homeworld going all the way back to “the academy.”

I wouldn’t be surprised if she preferred “fused without random organic matter stuck between us,” I mean a grain of sand is uncomfortable in shoes. I can’t imagine how awful it must feel to have entire people smashing around in there.

Your name: submit What is this?

It was Saturday when I called Shawn.

“So I guess Ian is coming to our room?” I said as I packed up a few things as Brooke waited on her bed.

“Want to come here?” He offered before I needed to ask.

“Yes please.”

I packed up and headed over to the East Wing. When I knocked on the door Shawn called from the inside saying it was open. Walking inside I found him laying in the bed with the blankets pulled up and around him. His hair was messy and I knew he hadn’t done anything with all day except run his fingers through it like he always did.

Oh dear, it’s been days nay weeks or is it even months since I blogged?  The other day I wondered if perhaps that pretty pink sunset was indeed my final blog post, but hey oh, here I am.

A lot has been going on.  A lot that maybe one day I’ll write about, or maybe not.  Life is this crazy adventure of ups and downs and twists and turns and unforeseen events.  It’s filled with mistakes and adventures and decisions and wonderful twists and turns which can redirect everything. Or not. Is that vague enough for you? I’ll leave it at that, but a lot has been on my mind and going on in my little world lately.

And… to not be vague, I am still happily chugging along in Detroit. My one hour commute is still the worst, but my weekends have been filled with trips back to Toronto, or Andrew visiting me here.

It’s odd as I never ever ever ever imagined myself in a long distance relationship, and yet here I am.  I also never really wrote about Andrew and me, but we dated last year for a few months, and then at his super-out-of-the-blue-romatic-facebook-message-to-me we got together for “just a drink” a few months back when I was in Toronto, and, well, here we are.

In the grand scheme of the world I feel like Toronto to Detroit is a very close “long distance relationship,” but it’s still hard and sucks at times. Although I’ve been single so long it’s sort of nice easing into a relationship, and he’s soooo busy with all his sports teams, it appears to be working well so far.

My work wants me to localize here.  Right now I am a Canadian employee working on assignment in the United States.  If I localize I switch over to being a U.S. employee.  There are pros (at least a 30% conversion raise! cha-ching!) and cons (family and friends and Canada’s one year maternity leave!) to each decision.  I am leaning strongly towards going back to Canada as I miss my nieces and sister and mom and friends a lot, but I also believe staying here is a better career opportunity.  Ugh.

What else is on my mind?  Andrew and I are planning a trip and right now we’re between Norway or Hawaii and ohmygod, decisions decisions.  I sincerely have no idea where we should go, but I have a huge American Airlines credit (nearly $5,000US!) which I need to use, so we’re looking for pricey flight destinations with cheap accommodation.

I am almost positive my weight is the same as last time I wrote, which isn’t surprising to me at all. My weight and fitness goals were sidelined for reasons I may or may not one day write about. But my dresses seem tighter later and I still want to lose weight, because duh, most people do. As I type this I question my reasons for not (re)committing and just deciding to be open and use My Fitness Pal tomorrow.  Time will tick on and I will have either done something or not.  But also as I type this I feel like I know I won’t, yet I want to, so yea… what the what.  Andrew is fit and plays 1,001 sports and at the wonderful age of thirty two and despite him telling me otherwise, I have been SO self conscious of my body lately.  It sucks as I broke through this a few years ago, but suddenly I feel like I need to suck in all the time and am so judgemental about myself.  Andrew and I spoke about it Saturday evening and I know none of it matters to him, but it matters to me, and well, I hope this is just a short little woe-is-me phase.

I have thousands of photos to upload to this space. An evening of sailing a bachelorette at home. Weekend adventures in Detroit and Toronto, and a wedding up north with Andrew.   For my own recording purposes I hope to do this soon. And I hope whoever is reading this had a great weekend past, and sunny week ahead!  Thanks for listening and popping in. :)

A/N: I love this. I love this. I LOVE THIS. Thanks for requesting it and I really hope this was what you had in mind. Also, maybe I can make a part 2 for this if you guys want it.

The first time he saw you, your head was buried in books. He came to the library in search of somewhere quiet, he was happy to see it was empty except for him and another person.

When his eyes landed on you he stopped, taking you in. Your head raised at the sudden stop of footsteps.

You made eye contact. And then he saw the most beautiful smile he has ever seen.

“Keptin in ze bridge.” Pavel announced without the usual happy tone in his voice. Hikaru had to nudge him twice so that he could finally come back to his senses and hear the captain calling out to him.

“Yes, Keptin?”

Jim frowned at his navigator’s unusual behavior. “I was asking about your date with your girlfriend but…”

“Oh, its okay Keptin. We broke up.”

A moment of silence passed between them and Jim stood up from his chair before patting the younger one’s shoulder.

“Meh, Orion women are usually hard to please am I right?” Jim joked, trying to lighten the mood.

Pavel gave him a smile.

“I’m not zat upset about it really. To be honest, it was doomed from ze start.”

Jim gave Chekov another pat before returning to his chair, knowing very well that smile didn’t reach his eyes.

“And it would bring us to ze conclusion that…”

“Infinite velocity might be possible.”

“…infinite welocity might be possible.”

Pavel was sitting in a cafe, doing some reading when the lovely lady he saw in the library a couple of days ago sat in front of him excitedly. “Are you reading about Warp Theory?” you have asked before losing yourself in a deep conversation.

“Oh please forgive me. I can’t help myself when I see someone as interested as me in Warp Theory.” you giggled and a blush found its way to his cheeks.

“It’s alright. I enjoyed your company…” he stopped, trying to remember if you have mentioned your name.

“I am so sorry I didn’t even introduce myself. [Y/N] [Y/L/N]. I believe we are in the same Navigation class?”

Pavel took her hand and shook it. “Yes we are. Pavel Andreievich Chekov.”

You flicked your wrist to look at the time. “As much as I would love to stay and chat a little more, I need to depart for my next class.” you said, getting up from your chair.

Feeling bold, Pavel stood up and moved in front of you, blocking your way. “I can walk you zere. I mean… if you want me to.” his voice lowered with each word. You gave him the same smile he fell in love with.

“I would love to, Pavel.”

“What’s the matter with you?”

Pavel’s head snapped up at his friend’s voice. Hikaru sat in front of him in the mess hall, watching him play with his food.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about Hikaru.” he said before bringing his fork down. He sat in silence for a moment before adding, “I’ve been thinking lately…”

The helmsman raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms, looking at his young friend intently. He sighed and hoped that he wouldn’t regret his next words.

“Is this about [Y/N]?”

Your name was almost like a forbidden word between the two ever since they got assigned to the Enterprise. “You just had to graduate before me didn’t you?” he remembered you joke bitterly.

Pavel brought his hands to his face when he recalled your voice and Hikaru quickly got a hold of his arm, leading him out of the mess hall and to his quarters.

“Why?” Pavel said. “Why do I have to look for [Y/N] in every single woman I date?”

“Maybe it’s because you want to be with [Y/N]. Not someone else.”

“What do you mean?”

Hikaru sighed, trying to formulate the words that would cause the least damage. “Why do you look for her in other people when you have [Y/N] herself? Have you called her ever since we got assigned? Have you made any effort to contact her?”

“She deserves better zan-”

“There you go again.” Hikaru stood up from Pavel’s bed and made his way to the door. “You continue like this and soon there will be no [Y/N] to make you happy.”

“Hikaru Sulu you are an insufferable man! Just relax!”

The laughs of three cadets echoed in the dorm two of them shared. You finished making the said man’s hair and gave him the mirror.

“Hope you like it. Because if I redo it, you’re gonna be late for your date.”

Pavel sat behind you as you helped Hikaru get ready for his date. “You look good Hikaru, I’m sure Ben will zink so.”

Hikaru stood up abruptly and made his way out of the room. “Thank you so much [Y/N]! I owe you one!” he exclaimed, putting his jacket on.

You giggled. “This one’s on the house.” you said and ushered him out. Pavel came next to you and added “Don’t have too much fun!”

“I make no promises!”

Both of you giggled and closed the door behind him. You threw yourself on the couch, tired. Pavel joined you and opened his PADD.

“[Y/N] maybe we could go see a movie or something. Could be fun.” Pavel said with the courage he was mustering up since last week.

You didn’t say anything. He took your silence as rejection and was about to tell you to forget it but you giggled and took his PADD.

“Only if I get to choose the movie.” You gave him the smile that still made his heart go wild.

“You trust me, right?”

Pavel jumped in his place and turned away from his station to see the captain near where his ear was a moment ago.

“Keptin, please don’t sneak up on me like zat.”

“I need an answer Chekov.”

Pavel felt Hikaru’s eyes on him while he answered. “Of course I do, sir.”

A grin appeared on Jim’s face. “Then I hope you won’t be opposed to the idea of meeting someone when we dock at a starbase for new recruits tomorrow..”

The navigator’s eyebrows knitted. “Meeting someone?”

“I’ve set you up with a date.”

Pavel’s eyes widened and his face turned red. “Sir! You didn-”

Jim raised his hand to stop him. “You don’t have to go.” he said. “But I know that you will like her. I would be really happy if you gave her a chance.”

Not wanting to say no to his captain, Pavel agreed. Plus he knew it wouldn’t hurt to meet someone new. He turned back to his station, not seeing the highfive the captain gave to the helmsman.

A fist on his cheek, Pavel watched you thoughtfully as you typed something in your PADD. You two were seated in the library he first saw you, studying for the finals.

He was thinking about you a lot lately. Thinking about the fact he already knew. He fell in love with you. Something he didn’t feel for anyone before.

But he knew it wouldn’t end well. He would graduate and get assigned to a ship in a couple of weeks. Even if you returned his feelings he would be light years away, away from you. He knew you deserved better than that.

“That equation isn’t gonna solve itself Chekov.”

Pavel snapped away from his thoughts and he removed his fist from his face. “Oh right, zat equation.” he said and turned to his own PADD.

“Pavel?” he felt your hand on top of his. He locked his eyes with yours and saw the worry in them. “Are you alright?”

The realization of how little time he had left with you dawned upon him and he grabbed your hand, squeezing it.

“Don’t worry [Y/N]. I’m just a little tired zat’s all.”

It felt like a knife on his chest when you smiled and squeezed his hand back.

Pavel sat at the table where he was supposed to meet his date, lost in his own thoughts. He kept thinking about what Hikaru told him over and over again.

“Am I doing ze wrong zing by letting her go?” he started to talk to himself and shook his head. “No, she deserves better zan me.” he repeated for the millionth time.

Before he could get back to his thoughts, he heard hurried footsteps behind him.

“I’m so sorry. I had to pack for my new assignment and-”

Pavel turned around and stood up from his chair in shock. The same hair, eyes, lips… He started to wonder if this was all a dream.

“[Y/N].” the name fell from his lips without a struggle.

Just like he imagined, your smile brought light to his world again.

Kiss, Kill, or Marry

I was given the prompt of using the phrases “Right now, I don’t know if I want to kiss you or shove you off a bridge.    Can I pick?” by @anoutlandishidea. I hope you like it!

If you’d like to read some of my other ficlet prompts check them out on AO3!

(A big thank you to @awesomeeyeroll, @bonnie-wee-swordsman, @takemeawaytocamelot and everyone who comments and reblogs my fics. I appreciate it!)

Claire Beauchamp was well known in her Advanced Higher program for several things. One was her impeccable promptness. Another was her intense need to get a higher mark than her classmates. Those two facts never surprised people, seeing as she was the only child of professors with multiple Ph.Ds. The one thing she was absolutely shite at was her ability to work well with others. Full stop. She was horrible when forced to participate in group projects. It was in part because she had little control in the situation, which made the back of her head buzz with annoyance. After much deliberation she had, however, concluded it was because she could do a much better job on her own. Unfortunately her psychology professor had refused to listen to her strongly worded persuasive essay.

“Professor, I have nothing against Angus Mhor, Rupert MacKenzie, or James Fraser,” Claire asserted,”It’s just that I fail to see the necessity of a team building project if I’m going to be a forensic pathologist.”

“Miss Beauchamp, what you will fail to ‘get’ is a passing grade.” she snapped. “If you refuse to participate in this assignment you will fail my course. You have the school email address for the other two in your group and I expect you to contact them before our next class.”

“Bu-bu-but ma’am!” Claire spluttered. ”I’ve had a flawless transcript since, since, well, forever and my scholarships for postgraduate studies depend on exceptionally high marks!”

“It would seem the answer is simple, then. Isn’t it?”

Jamie, Rupert, and Jamie sat in the school canteen, laughing loudly as they shoveled food in their mouths unaware of what was happening across campus. The cousins had been thick as thieves since they were young, usually up to something mischievous. The main problem was that all three were much cleverer than most people expected - Angus, the one who always had some sort of injury. Rupert, chubby boy with mussed hair and charity shop clothes. Last, but not least, there was Jamie, the brash laird’s son. A simultaneous beep from their mobiles interrupted a daily discussion on the best in the camanachd Premier League.

“Pardon me!” Angus said between belches. “Wait. Why did my arse vibrate?”

Rupert sighed loudly and Jamie clapped his smaller cousin on the back.

“A Dhia! How did you get the highest score on your SQC?” Jamie groaned. “Most of the time you’re dumber than the bawbag you came from!”

Angus folded his arms with a huff.

“You asked me if chili was cold because it sounded like c-h-i-l-l-y. You get Rickrolled by me at least once a week. You put a jumper on your Mam’s laptop because she told you it had a virus. The best had to be when you heard that if you put your mobile in a microwave it would boost the memory.” Rupert recalled. “Shall I continue?”

Jamie turned his attention to his phone. He scrolled through his texts, several from his sister, reminding him it was his nephew’s birthday the following weekend and multiple ideas for gifts. When his phone vibrated again, he remembered the reason he had opened his mobile in the first place - the email they received.

“Never mind that!” Jamie interjected.”We got an email from that Claire Beauchamp! I can’t believe she’s not trying to weasel out of the assignment!”

“Blasphemy!” Rupert and Angus said in unison. They covered each other’s ears as their excessively aghast faces made some girls at a nearby table burst into giggles.

“Jesus, Mary, and Bride!” Angus prattled to himself. “That has to be a sign of the apocalypse. War, pestilence, famine, and that Sassenach doing a project that she can’t be in complete control over!”

“Death. You’re thinking of death.”

“There’s a difference?”

After several emails between them all, a time and place was set to talk over how to set their scene perfectly. Since it would be on stage at the fine arts auditorium they decided to check out the venue after a student performance. They all brought notes,as well as pens to take notes, and their syllabus to read the detailed requirements for what was expected.

The task set before the quartet was not an easy one. They were challenged to set up a crime scene, with the assisting makeup skills of the theatre and multimedia departments, to stump everyone else.

“I’ve drawn up a plan and chatted with the special effects assistants we’ve been given.” Claire said. “They should be here any minute now.”

All three boys groaned loudly then voiced their opposition to her self-nominated captaincy.

“This isn’t your show Your Ladyship!” Jamie barked. “This affects all of us, so all of us will give our input.”

Rupert scowled at Claire who immediately returned the same look. “We’ve already come up with a winning scenario that no one will be able suss out.” he asserted. “Just listen to Angus. And be glad he uses his powers for good.”

For once in a blue moon, Claire did as she was instructed without any snarky reply, just a simple nod. She had seen for herself in class that Angus was well read  and only spoke when he knew he could add to the discussion, usually to correct a previous erroneous statement. His emphasis on only proven facts earned her respect more than once so this time she’d expect the same.

As Angus finished his explanation he smiled to see Claire’s amazed visage. “I see you approve of my machinations.” he added. “So do I get the golden buzzer?”

Since words were unreachable, she simply nodded again.

This time the cousins cheered at her response.

Over the next two weeks they spent dozens of hours on the best way to set up their tableau. In the beginning, Jamie and Claire had struggled for control over the situation. Then, after a draw in an arm wrestling tournament, they concluded that sharing was the better option since they all had individual strengths. They had even started to spend time together outside of their school assignment which confused Angus to no end.

Their allotted time sped by and it was finally their turn to present the assignment.

Everything had been discussed down to the smallest detail and gone over with four sets of eyes with a fine tooth comb. It was foolproof!

They set their scene on the stage with a made up Jamie as the body, and waited for questions from their peers milling around the stage.

“Nothing like a real life game of Cluedo, right Your Ladyship?” Angus whispered to Claire. He knew full well she despised but it made him giggle when she turned scarlet at its mention.

“I’m so glad that nickname stuck, aren’t you Fraser? Jesus H. Roosevelt Christ!” she hissed.

Jamie coughed as he struggled to hold back his laughter.

“He’s in a library so he got stung by a wasp. They live in old wooden buildings and eat paper.  Anaphylactic shock. Too easy!”

“You’re warm.” Rupert replied.

More guesses were heard, inquiring attempts made, but none had the exact answered. At the thirty minute mark a perfect score looked obtainable until Jamie stood up and promptly fainted as a coughing fit left him gasping for breath.

Claire’s scream echoed through as she ran to his side. “Call 999!”

As soon as he was allowed visitors, Angus, Rupert and Claire arrived with grapes and the results of their assessment. He looked ashen but grinned widely when he saw them.

“Give me the bad news first.” Jamie asked. “Let’s get that over with first.”

“I hate to tell you cousin, but you’re still a left handed ginger.” Rupert said solemnly. “They say it’s a terminal case.”

Jamie laughed. “Thank you, Rupe. What did we get? Please tell me anaphylactic shock was worth at least a ninety five.”

“Right now, I don’t know if I want to kiss you or shove you off a bridge, Jamie Fraser!” Claire howled. She smacked his arm as she glowered at him.

“Can I pick?”

You Consume Me - A Roman Reigns Short Story

She was beautiful, tempting, carefree, and everything I thought I wanted in a woman. One taste and I was hooked, abandoning everything and everyone I cared about to be with her. What I failed to see was the other side of her; a side that was dark, dangerous…

A/N: A long time ago I read a fic that resonated so deeply within me it blew my mind. I looked for it online not too long ago and couldn’t find it. But I’ll never forget it. This story is largely inspired by that one. I hope you like it.

It was like encountering a beautiful storm and being smack in the middle of its eye. That’s the only way I can describe what I went through with her.

She breezed in and out of my life, staying just long enough to spin me around and turn my whole world upside down. Just like the wind, she danced away, slipping right through my fingers just when I thought I had caught up with her. Everything about her was so complicated, yet so simple. She was mysterious yet obvious, elusive yet omnipresent, caring yet spiteful. Complex. Complicated. And if you mentioned all of that to her, she’d laugh and tell you she was the most straightforward person you’d ever meet.

Falling in love with her was dangerous but inevitable. Getting to know her, being with her made me feel powerful yet powerless at the same time. I couldn’t stop it. I couldn’t help myself from getting swept up in her essence, and when I fell in love, I fell hard.

But it nearly killed me.

Loki x Reader (His watchdog) Part One

His lips felt like a poisonous heaven on my skin causing my body to shiver involuntarily as his larger hands are placed onto my waist. Loki, the God of Mischief, smirked deviously as he gently squeezes my hip bone with his index finger and thumb. I swallowed a thump of fear down my throat before I was pressed against his chamber door as his eyes glowed a bright green. My flesh felt like it was melt off my bones as his cool hand ghosted its way down over my stomach.

Another shiver coursed its way through my veins as I panted softly when my eyes looked up to meet his. His lips were inches from mine as his breath caressed my face as I bit my lip gently. “Well well my little dove, what a predicament you have gotten yourself into.” His voice was calm and collected as my breath hitched forcing my eyes to snap shut. “I believe you are far too clothed for my liking.” He whispered into my ear making my face lit up before my clothes vanished into thin air making me gasp. “Much better.” He purred wickedly.

My eyes snapped open as I sat up in my bed immediately looking around my dark room panting harshly. ‘Damn my dreams.’ I cursed softly looking down to my sweat soaked clothes. I glanced to the clock seeing it blared 3:37 am in a light green lettering making me growl softly. I had about few hours before I had to get up and get ready for work as I tried to lay down. Nothing would let me fall asleep as I let out a sigh before I threw the covers off my body seeing it soaked to the sheet. I blushed realize that wasn’t sweat as I stood up mumbling under my breath when I heard a knock at the door.

I almost jolted out of my t-shirt as I looked around for some kind of weapon when I grabbed a heel before going out towards the front door to my apartment. “(Y/N), you better not be threatening me with a shoe in there.” A deep voice said sternly as my eyes widened realizing it was Tony Stark at my door. “What the hell do you want Tony?” I asked angrily before opening the door seeing the billionaire playboy grin at me. “I wanted to come get you to bring you to the Stark tower.” He said as if was the most natural thing in the world. “Excuse me?” I asked. “Do you know what time it is?” I demanded placing my heel onto my hip.

“Yes, it’s 3:39 in the morning.” Tony grinned. “Oh Capiscle and Thor are here to collect your things.” He said as I shake my head. “Tony, I’m not going anywhere. Why do I have to go to the Stark tower?” I asked frowning. “To be with the Avengers. Director Fury wants you.” He said shrugging as my eyes widened. “What? But I’m just an agent that gets him coffee when I’m on break from my classes.” I said looking at him. “Well due to certain events you’ve been bumped up.” He said happily. “You mean someone died.” I said bluntly.

“Just get your stuff together. You have a mission assigned already.” He said turning around as my jaw drops. “Also,” He turns around smirking. “That shirt looks hot on you.” He winked before walking off as my face lights up in a dark red hue. “What’s my assignment!” I cried when Thor and Steve walked looking at me. “Well.. You won’t like it Lady (Y/N).” Thor sighed walking into the apartment as Steven nods walking in. “What? Why?” I asked as Steve blushes looking down. “Could you get some shorts or something on?” Steve asked softly. I glanced over to Steve before looking to Thor. “When I get back you’re telling me.” I snapped going into room.

‘What the hell is wrong with Director Fury? Sending them over at almost four in the morning!!’ I growled yanking up some shorts from my dresser before going back out seeing most my stuff packed. I immediately shook my head trying to dismiss it before looking to Thor who placed more of my books into a box. “Thor.” I said in a warning tone as he sighed. “Lady (Y/N), you are assigned to watch my brother Loki. No one else can do it.” He said looking at me as my eyes widened in shock. “I have to take care Loki!” I cried. “No, you just have to watch him.” Thor said. “That doesn’t make it better!” I huff.

“There no point in fighting this (Y/N), no one else will take the job. Besides, Director Fury specifically asked for you, because you have a cool mind set.” Steve explained as Thor nods. “It’s only until we find a better security for him.” Thor said. “Please, we need to get going.” Steve said picking up some of the boxes as I sighed covering my face. “Okay, I have some clothes to pack.” I grumbled as Thor grins happily. “Thank you.” He said bowing. “Yeah yeah.” I sighed before getting ready to go to the Stark tower…..

Mark - “You could’ve just told me that it was bothering you.” He said, “I would have told her myself.” And your response was “Really?! The first time I told you I didn’t like her hanging around you, you dismissed it and said you guys are just co-workers, and that I have nothing to worry about.”

Part 1

So, yesterday I cleaned the apartment, and I found that if I constantly clean the dishes/kitchen after I eat, the cleaning goes by much quicker. There are things that should be done every single day, things that can be done every couple of days, some once a week, some once every two weeks and so on.

I do the dishes every day, take out the trash every couple of days, as soon as it’s filled (I used somewhat small trash bags, which is better because I don’t like accumulating trash).

Once a week, I wash my clothes, vacuum and clean the bathrooms.

Usually, I change the bed sheets and the bedding once every two or three weeks, and wash the towels I use once every two weeks too.

Anyways… yesterday I did everything in like an hour and a half. And after that I finished a homework and was able to turn it in EARLY! Can you people believe that? I turned in a homework assignment a day earlier!

I have been trying my best at not snacking junk food, and at walking everywhere I need to go that is within a reasonable distance; I have been feeling with a bit more energy, but with the flu, I lose my breath really quickly. I developed a terrible back pain, tho, I don’t know what caused it, but it’s really hard to rub one of those heat creams all on my own. I’ll take it easy with heavy things on my back for the days to come, hopefully it’ll get better soon.

As far as feelings go, I have been trying my best to not think about it at all. I am constantly trying to find things to do so I can distract myself, because to be honest, I miss him too much. Way too much. It hurts me to not be able to talk to him the way we used to. So I distract myself, because I just don’t want to say “hi” anymore, either. It hurts too much. I either get ignored, or get responses that make sure to show he is not interested in what is going on with my life.

I also feel alone, I have nowhere to go here, and no friends to hang out with. I’m meeting people from my masters, and I’m trying to make friends with them, but it’s really difficult. All I know is that I’m doing my best, but I just want to make sure you guys know this: I really really dislike some of the people there. We are a very small group of people, and I dislike at least half. I just don’t like people who are entitled, believe they know it all, and are not even willing to learn something from other disciplines.

The past two weeks have been ridiculously hard. Losing a friend, someone I love, has been the hardest thing ever. I feel numb. I know… I know he treated me badly, that’s why I hesitate so much about reaching out to him. But it doesn’t stop the pain.

I just hope I can get better, feel better, and get over him.
