i bet you look good on the dancefloor

A playlist for this amazing Voltron Dance!AU fic by xShieru

Heartbreak in the Making - Zak Waters, Make it Shake - Wonda Music Presents, Step Up - Samantha Jade, Cooler Than Me - Mike Posner, Bubble Butt - Major Lazer, Needed Me - Rihanna, Say My Name - Destiny’s Child, Wiggle - Jason Derulo, Baby Boy - Beyoncé, Hips Don’t Lie - Shakira, Run the World (Girls) - Beyoncé, I Wanna Be Like You (Remix) - Sim Gretina, Beggin - Madcon, Don’t Wanna Dance Alone - Fifth Harmony

WIP inspired by the AU fic “i bet you look good on the dancefloor” by xShieru on Ao3. There is a scene where Keith dances in heels and I just kind of…. went wild with it instead of keeping it true to the fic? My friend who prompted me to do this loves it though so why not.

Hi, first of all I love all your fic recs! They've helped me find so many great new fanfics I never would've found otherwise. I was wondering though if you knew any drarry fanfics where Draco moves to or ends up in the muggle world after the war. Thank you!

Here’s The Pencil, Make It Work by ignatiustrout (49k)
Harry thinks “Why is Malfoy working in a coffee shop in muggle London?” is a much simpler question than, “Are you going to accept that auror offer and, if you don’t, what will you do?”

We Might Be Too Old for a Bildungsroman by calrissian18 (21k)
Harry finds something he’s been looking for since the war’s end. Admittedly, the packaging’s a bit odder than he expected.

Tuesday Nights by @firethesound (15k)
The absolute last place Harry expected to see Malfoy was in a rundown Muggle cinema on a Tuesday night.

In Fire and Blood by @theboywholivcd (15k)
They’re wizards living in Muggle London, and it is the summer after the Battle of Hogwarts. One held out his hand, and the other grabbed on. They’re just boys, really, trying to find their way out of the rubble.A story in which Draco and Harry are lost after the war. A story in which they find life in love.

Reading Malfoy by Femme (15k)
After thirteen years of hiding himself away in Muggle London, Draco Malfoy shows up again in the wizarding world–with a wickedly amusing memoir in hand. Harry doesn’t want to read it. Really. He doesn’t.

Stories in E Minor by @huldrejenta (8k)
Draco has found his place in the Muggle world. He’s got his music, he’s got his neighbours and he is content. Until a certain someone from the past enters his life again.

Twelve Hours by @eidheann (15k)
The last thing Harry expected to see while leaving the takeaway was Malfoy dumping his garbage into a bin on the kerb of a Muggle neighborhood.

The Way Home by dragontara (5k)
Sometimes life takes surprising turns before you find the way home.
Based on the prompt: “Harry doesn’t give up magic, but he moves to a muggle area where nobody knows his past and he’s not famous. A few weeks before Christmas he starts volunteering at a muggle homeless shelter. One day a haggard looking Draco Malfoy walks in.”

Lettered by pir8fancier (7k)
Harry has a secret penpal, whose identity is as plain as the nose on his face. Except he’s not wearing his glasses.

Lush Life by pir8fancier (19k)
This is the sequel to Lettered. Draco is now the editor of a gay men’s porn magazine and living in N.Y. His self-imposed exile from England is about to end. [Sequel to both Lettered and Lush Life Home Again, Home Again ]

The Art of Perfection by create_serenity (19k)
Harry cursed the day he’d ever made the stupid bet with Ron because that bet was what had led to him being naked in front of a Muggle art class. Of course Draco Malfoy had to be taking the class, because that’s just how Harry’s life worked.

Doing the Lambeth Walk by blamebrampton (26k)
There are only three traditional choices for the cashed-up hero after victory. Harry Potter is too young to settle down and provide the wizarding world with a happy ending, and has too acute a sense of humour to spiral downwards into a spectacular flame-out. That leaves a life of good works. Choosing to lead it in Muggle Brixton comes with its own set of challenges, including Malfoys in the biscuit aisle.

A Thousand Beautiful Things series by Geoviki (168k in total)
Draco Malfoy struggles with changed fortunes, shifted alliances, an ugly war, and an unusual spell, with the help of a concerned professor, an insightful house-elf, and an unexpected Gryffindor friend.
Delicate Sound of Thunder (Sequel):  Draco Malfoy has always known that happily ever after is only true for fairy tales.  When someone threatens to expose his wartime past, he risks his life to protect his secrets, but learns he’s not the only one with something to hide.  The sequel to A Thousand Beautiful Things.

Lonely Moon by eleventy7 (65k)
More than a decade after the Battle, Harry returns to Hogwarts as a professor and discovers a student with a familiar face and an unexpected past. HPDM. Compliant with everything except DH epilogue.

I Bet That You Look Good on the Dancefloor by birdsofshore (27k)
Harry felt lit up from inside as soon as he entered the bar. There were blokes dancing together, their bodies close to one another, not keeping a wary distance as Harry was always careful to do when he was near another man. God, he wanted this – wanted it so much he could taste it, a metallic tang of heat and desire. He suspected nothing would ever be the same again – especially when he saw who else was in the room.

Coffee by Writcraft (5k)
Sometimes it’s just a story about two wizards and a Muggle coffee shop.

Paradigm by Cheryl Dyson (57k)
Harry Potter is an Auror and Draco Malfoy is a rentboy, but this is not a typical rentboy story.

Moneymaker by @dictacontrion (16k)
As a top trader, Draco has power and money, suits and cars, houses and good champagne - everything a person could want. So when Auror Potter comes looking for help, Draco can’t think of anything that might persuade him to lend a hand.
Well…maybe one thing.

Magic Man by dracogotgame (8k)
Draco has been exiled to live in the Muggle World, where he’s actually doing alright as an amateur stage magician. Harry has been tasked to determine if he’s using real magic to enhance his performances.

Along The Way (The Time Has Come) by laurelgreengrass (19k)
Harry Potter’s decision to attend Muggle University hasn’t been an easy one and unlikely to be taken at all, had he known the first person he’d come to associate with college life was Draco Malfoy.
In retrospective though… there are worse things that happened.
Or: The one were all the important stuff happens in the kitchen, until the really important stuff happens in the bedroom

Taking the Easy Way Out by maraudersaffair (16k)
Malfoy has disappeared, and Harry tracks him down because … he’s Harry Potter. Expecting to save Malfoy from worldly evils, he is surprised to find him living as a Muggle and listening to ponce boy bands.

Blind Faith by SunseticMonster (21k)
Don’t think of it as losing your sight. Think of it as gaining an Animagus who never quite learned the meaning of the word ‘boundaries’.

Voices From The Fog
by noeon (13k)
After years of running away, Harry crosses paths with an all-too familiar face and follows him to Amsterdam.

Beautiful Oblivion by Ravenna_c_tan (7k)
When Auror Harry Potter goes undercover in the Muggle world as part of an investigation that takes him to the USA, Draco Malfoy is the last person he expects to meet.

An Aching Soul by Writcraft (14k)
“I can’t help but wonder if Potter’s really as fine as he claims to be. There’s something strange about seeing the vanilla hero of the wizarding world eye-fucking someone across a crowded bar before slipping off into the shadows” - Draco Malfoy escapes to the Muggle world to avoid his parents, memories of the war and Harry Potter. However, some things prove harder to escape than others as Draco realises when his favourite Muggle haunt is rudely invaded by a post-war Harry who is struggling to cope with grief, growing up and the battle with his inner demons.

kc + "i bet that you look good on the dancefloor" - arctic monkeys :)))

He knew all the vampires that lived in his city.  This was a new one.

Her blonde hair was pulled back in a ponytail, and her dark blue tanktop hugged her form.  She was beautiful, but of course Klaus had known beautiful women before. It took more than that to attract his attention.

              Yet this blonde did.

Her dance partner – one of Marcel’s lackeys – caught sight of Klaus prowling across the packed dance floor and his skin went pale. Klaus grinned, his fangs falling and his eyes turning black and gold.  It was sad, really, how quickly the idiot abandoned the blonde.  Clearly, he wasn’t worth her time anyway.

“You deserve better than a coward, Love,” Klaus murmured into her ear when he finally reached her.  She stiffened in surprise, her head tilting to the side so she could see him.  Her eyes were blue, with hints of green throughout.  They reminded Klaus of the ocean, the parts that were so rarely seen, because they had to be searched out rather than appreciated from a beach.

“Do you always scare off the dance partners of strangers?” she shot back, her eyes flashing in a way that gave Klaus all sorts of intriguing thoughts.

“Niklaus Mikaelson” – Klaus took her hand and spun her in in a full circle, then dropped his hands to her hips and pulled her in, so her back was flush to his chest.  He felt her stiffen in surprise, and he leaned down once more, so he could murmur in her ear – “now is where you tell me your name, Love.  And then we’re no longer strangers.”

“I know that name,” she said, her voice as stiff as her body.  But Klaus moved to the music, and she began to move as well, the rhythm a natural thing to her.  “I think I want us to stay strangers.”

              “Now that’s not very nice.”

              “I’m not a nice girl.”

He spun her again, this time so they were facing each other.  He made the maneuver just in time to catch the tail end of her wince.  It made him chuckle; she clearly knew that he was dangerous, had obviously heard the stories of how he had regained power in New Orleans… but he had a feeling that she wasn’t the type to talk quiet and keep her head down, even when it might make survival easier.

“I suppose it’s a good thing that nice girls have always bored me then,” Klaus mused, and he wondered if she noticed how well their bodies moved to the song still playing.  He definitely noticed, and it made him think of other ways their bodies could move together.  “Come, Love – it’s just a name.”

“Something tells me with you would it would never just be anything..”

He chuckled again, and her fingers dug into his shoulder.  He glanced down at her, and she avoided making eye contact.  But this woman was still young – Klaus could all but taste her youth – and he’d had a thousand years to learn to read people.

Vampires, be they a year old or a thousand, were sexual creatures.  And this one was no different… she wanted him.

              And he wanted her.

“Tell me your name,” he murmured, his lips grazing her neck, making her shiver.  “And I’ll make it worth your while.”

It surprised him, when he felt a sharp tug on his hair.  He let her pull his head back, and her eyes had turned black – the monster allowed out to play.

“Make it worth my while,” she retorted.  “And maybe I’ll tell you my name.”

“Careful, Love.  You’re playing a very dangerous game.”

“Maybe I like a little danger.  It keeps things interesting.”

And oh, but the little blonde did like it interesting.

Caroline – he got her name with his head between her legs, her fingers digging into his scalp, and she had finally given it when he had refused to let her come unless she spoke.

And her reason for being in New Orleans… well he got that when he woke up alone, cash missing from his wallet along with a priceless amulet that had once belonged to the Bennett line of witches.

Any other time, Klaus would have wanted blood.  But with Caroline’s taste still on his tongue and scratches from her fingernails on his back still healing… well…

It had been a while since Klaus had been able to appreciate a good chase.
