Category: Falling in love 030: “Can I kiss you?”
Pairing: Barry Allen x doctor!reader Words: 3155 Warning: none that I’m aware of… I used the word hell?
A/N: So just found out I’m gonna do my English exam next Friday. For both practice and pleasing you lovelies, I thought I’d try to write even more this upcoming week – though I’m not sure how this brilliant win/win idea will work out IRL, so don’t hold your breaths…:/
“Can I kiss you?!” A girl popped up in front of Barry. She was out of breath, her forehead shining from the sweat after a what-seemed-like-a long run. Just when Barry was about to answer, her lips met his. If it hadn’t been for the fact that she had taken him by surprise, he would have noticed so much more about her. Like the way her eyes sparkled when their gazes met, the way her hair seemed to perfectly frame her head, the way her chapped lips glowed in the daylight.
But she did take him by surprise, and all he could think of, were how those chapped, yet soft lips felt against his. It wasn’t an ordinary setting for Barry (to have random girls coming up kissing him). Though for some reason, it felt natural. So he closed his eyes and started kissing back – a very un-Barry and bold move, that he instantly regretted when the warm feeling disappeared not long after.
“Thanks! You’re a real hero!” It was just by pure luck, that Barry managed to get a slightly better look at her before she ran. The last thing he saw being a pair of red cheeks and Y/E/C eyes. It certainly was a way to brighten up his day – who wouldn’t have liked to get kissed by a girl? Though at the same time, Barry still felt something fishy about what had just happened, and he was dying to know why the sudden urge for the beautiful girl to kiss him: it wasn’t like that happened on a daily basis in Central City.
Prompt: combination of Tim Drake X Reader Reader has a family reunion and promised to bring a nonexistent boyfriend, while planning to suddenly not being able to go, only they now HAVE to go with a boyfriend. They call Tim and the first thing they say is “You’re my boyfriend.” AND How about a fic with Tim and reader where both initially hated each other but over time only realised the sort of ‘hate’ they had for each other stemmed from the very thin chances they have of being with one another? Both believe they can never be with the other for whatever reason and that frustration and sadness just vents out as hatred for the other? Sort of like 'if I can’t have you the fuck you’ sort of thing lmao
Tim raises an eyebrow before closing the door behind you, “And hello to you too.”
You wag your finger at him, “No, no time to be cute. I need you to be my boyfriend.”
“That must be the most romantic statement ever, yet it gives me no needed information.”
You sigh, “Okay sassy pants, look, there’s this stupid family reunion I HAVE to be at, under punishment of hearing about it for the rest of my life. Originally, Jamie said he would go, but his sister got sick and his parents have to work. So, you’re up slugger.”
Tim crosses his arms, and says, “I still need a bit more.”
You sigh, “My mother has been trying to set me up for months, to get her off my back, I told her I’m in a relationship with a guy named Mike. Now she’s insisting I bring him with me to this stupid reunion.”
“Let me make sure I have this straight. First, I’m your boyfriend, now my name is Mike.”
You nod, “Yes because you owe me.”
“I owe you?”
“Yes, I kept Damian busy last week, remember when you had that headache. You owe me. That kid kicked my butt in training.”
He sighs, “Fine, when is it?”
“Thirty minutes, grab your coat Mike, I’m driving.”
“I can’t believe I’m doing this.”
You shrug, “Me either.”
“After all the hell you put me through!”
“I know, I know. I owe you one.”
“Try a million, you owe me a million.”
You roll your eyes as you follow him out. You and Tim had never been on the best of terms. While the two of you had started the team at the same time, you couldn’t have been more different. You were loud, and often times obnoxious. Tim had often been sullen, and grumpy. It had led to more than a few arguments, and several nearly botched missions.
You had come to a bickering friendship after Conner and Wally had locked the two of you in a chamber for over a day. After that you had teamed up for revenge, and come to a sort of bickering truce.
More often than not you found yourself near him. On occasion you’d blush. You weren’t really sure what was happening, but you couldn’t help but think you liked it.
You arrived at the hotel where Anna and Mike got a room.
“What did they say?” Anna asked
“Is it bad?” Mike asks
“It sounded expensive.” both of them looked at you worried.
“We have to find some work so we can pay it.” Mike said looking towards the both of you
“Yeah we could stay here for a while.” Sara said with a smile. “It would be nice to stay at one place.”
You took a shower and had into to town with Mike and Anna. You guys were searching for work and for groceries. After walking around for a half hour the 3 of you found a grocery store. The 3 of you entered together but after 5 min you lost them. You wander threw the grocery store till you bumped into someone.
“I’m sorry.” you said quickly and looked towards the person you bumped into.
Gemma was looking at you. “No problem. It’s nice to see you again.” she said quickly. You just smiled at her. “You told me you were looking for a job?”
“Yeah have to make some money to pay for the car repair.” You said with a smile.
“Well I may have something for you. What kind of work do you have experience with?” She starts walking through the hall placing some items in the basket.
“Everything a little..” You said “I graduated with a marketing diploma but never did anything with that.” She looks towards you and gives you a smile. “After school I did some bar work, cleaning and some other stuff.”
“I can do something with that. If you want I can offer you a job at the garage to help me out. I have too much work and well I can’t handle it myself.”
“Serious?” You looked at her questioning. She smiled at you. “That would be amazing. When can I start?”
“I like your attitude already.” You smiled at her. “Tomorrow at 9am. Here is my phone number.” she handles you a paper with a number on it. “Just text me the address where you stand and I will pick you up.”
“I can walk you don’t need to pick me up.”
“I know.” She says walking towards the register. She looked back towards you and gave you a smile.
Gemma walked towards the car. She pulled the groceries and put them next to her and called Clay.
“Hey baby.” Gemma said
“Hey, Is something wrong?”
“No just calling to say that we having a new employer tomorrow.”
“The girl from this morning. She needed a job so I offered her one.”
“Okay. I see you tonight I have church.” Clay said ending the call.
You walked out of the store with Anna and Mike on your side.
“I can’t believe you already found work.” Anna said “It’s so nice of her.”
Mike didn’t look that happy. “I just think it’s weird. Were being driving thru country and nobody gave us work that easy and she just came around and gave you work and is going to pick you up and everything.” He shakes his head. “I just think it’s weird.”
“Don’t worry. I can take care of myself.” You said to Mike with a smile.
You all walked towards the hotel. You were joking around and Mike was walking in the middle of you and Anna with one arm around your shoulder and the other around her shoulder. The sound of 3 bikes was heard behind you. They pass the 3 of you and parked a few meters from you. You saw 3 man get off the bike. When one of them got his helmet out of his head. You recognise him immediately. It was the man who picked you up today from the side of the road. Tig. He looks towards the 3 of you and smiles. One of the other man hits him in the chest pulling his gaze from us and all 3 of them walked into the store in front of them.
The 3 of you got close to the bikes.
“Mike didn’t you had one like that.” Anna asked pointing to one of the bikes.
“Yeah but it was nothing for me.” He says with a fake smile on his face.
“Well I can remember you were pretty into the motor club thing.” Anna says joking.
Mike pulled his arm from me and Anna and walked faster. “Come on I’m hungry.” You could her in his tone that he was irritated.
Anna looks towards you. “Did I say something wrong?”
In the corner of your eye you saw the three man walk towards the door to come outside. “Noo.”
“Y/N do you know something what I don’t know about Mike and the motor club he was in?” She says, eyebrows raised and eyes following every movement of your face.
“what? No, what are you talking about?” You said smiling. “Come on we have to catch up with him.”
She turns her gaze towards Mike and starts walking. She bought it. you thought. You took a deep breath and you saw Tig and the other man walk out of the store.
I’ve recently heard the news. I still refuse to even believe he’s gone. It’s such a shocking story to take in. I hope everyone is safe today and they are with the people they love most. I’ve learned through out my years of loosing a loved one is to always give some love back. Give some love to anyone. It will change their whole day.
To lighten the situation, I want to share a story from when I was very young and into Linkin Park.
I was 10 years old and we had just moved out of New Jersey 2 years ago. We took a trip back to our house to check on it and to just reminisce on old times. Around this time, I was very upset that I had to change schools and change everything so my way of coping was to listen to whatever Pandora put on. My go to station was always Linkin Park. Because of this, I know so many bands and singers that I still listen to to this day.
We were coming back from the house and onto the highway and we decided to stop at a gas station. I looked out my window and I watched 2 men get out of a car and start to head into the gas station. My heart nearly exploded out of it’s chest. Would you believe I just saw Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington? I jumped up and I remember being so excited I couldn’t form actual words and I just started spewing whatever came to mind. My mom told me to calm down and we walked over to the two guys walking into the gas station and I said in a shaky voice “excuse me? Are you from Linkin Park?”
The memory will always be in my mind and I will always remember Chester’s annoyed smile. I realize now that I was probably so annoying to reach out to talk to them in a gas station. I always do think about it.
My heart goes out to everyone affected by this tragedy ❤️️❤️️ stay strong
It was just your average Tuesday for Sherlock Holmes. After spending most of Monday chasing around a band of idiotic criminals attempting to perpetrate a series of supposedly copy-cat murders, he had crashed on his bed and slept until most of Tuesday was long gone.
Then, following a large meal courtesy of Angelo, Sherlock hailed himself a cab and headed toward his home away from home, perfectly content with his life.
Yes, it was just another average Tuesday for the great Consulting Detective.
Night had fallen by the time Sherlock burst into the hallway of St Bart’s lab division. Every room was dark apart from the one at the end of the hall. The door was propped open and two familiar voices drifted toward him. He slowed and hid against the wall outside, just out of sight. He leaned his ear toward the door.
‘-so honoured!’ Molly Hooper was gushing excitedly. ‘They really asked for me? I can’t believe this!’
‘Well, no one deserves it more than you,’ Mike Stamford chuckled. ‘They’re asking for a six-month commitment, though. Would you be amenable to that?’
‘That is a long time. But to be a part of it, from the start? I would never forgive myself if I said no!’
‘Well, I can’t say we won’t miss you! But your job here will be waiting for you when you get back. It’s only finding someone to fill in for you in the meantime that will be tough.’
Having heard enough, Sherlock angrily threw open the door and stormed into the room.
‘Impossible,’ he barked, startling the doctors. Molly, having had her back to the door, jumped around and found herself face-to-face with a livid Consulting Detective. ‘No one can possibly replace Dr Hooper. I refuse to work with the remaining so-called doctors, or imbeciles, employed by this institution; as she is the only one capable of higher intelligence, it is imperative that she stay.’
‘You don’t even know where or why I’m leaving.’ Molly crossed her arms.
Sherlock’s nose twitched. ‘Irrelevant.’
Mike snorted and Molly raised her eyebrow. ‘They’re establishing a cold-weather Body Farm in the United States and they’ve asked me to be a part of the team overseeing its creation.’
Interesting. He dived into his Mind Palace for a quick review of Body Farms. Only seven in the world, eight including this new establishment. Dedicated to the study of the effects of atmospheric conditions to human bodies. And the original seven, all in the United States, were only focused on warm climate decomposition.
But cold-weather decomposition… oh, this would be ground-breaking.
‘The Farm is an extension of a University in the north of Michigan and they anticipate a project start date within the first few weeks of the coming semester, so you’ll need to-’
Sherlock came out of his thoughts to find Mike and Molly had continued their discussion beside him. ‘Very well, I shall accompany you.’
Molly turned to him in surprise. ‘What? You’ll- what? Why?’
‘For one, studying the effects of cold weather on human decomposition without the constraints of a small refrigerator or Mrs Hudson’s sensibilities, would be a phenomenal opportunity.’
‘You wouldn’t be on the team, Sherlock,’ Molly said and narrowed her eyes, pointing her finger at him. ‘And I won’t be letting you in after hours.’
Sherlock turned his puppy dog eyes on her, but she didn’t back down.
Damn her ethical resolve.
‘Fine,’ he bit out. ‘But I’m still accompanying you.’
‘Whatever for?’ She looked at him as if he’d lost his marbles. ‘There’s not a lot to do there, Sherlock. Aside from the occasional University and ski resort, northern Michigan is pretty sparse of both people and, thus, crime. You’d be bored out of your mind.’
‘I can solve most crimes by mobile. What’s a few thousand miles between myself and London when Graham can simply send me a photo and I can do his job for him.’
Molly gaped at him. ‘But why?’
Sherlock stared at her. She still didn’t understand. He supposed he was partially at fault for that, having become so adept at hiding his feelings behind a mask of, sometimes cruel, aloofness.
Well, it was time to put an end to all of that. ‘Because I have already had to endure spending two entire years apart from you. I refuse to go through that again for another six months.’
Her eyes went wide. ‘R-really?’
‘Really.’ He smiled down at her and ignored Mike’s smug face behind her, the older man mouthing something that looked like ‘about time.’
Sherlock reached for her hand and cautiously laced their fingers together. ‘I… I would not like to be without you, Molly Hooper. And if I have to suffer six months in the wasteland of the colonies in order to be with you, it is a sacrifice I will make. Perhaps not joyously, but at least not begrudgingly.’
Molly laughed softly. ‘Well, at least you’re an honest tag-along.’
‘Does that mean I can come?’ He asked hopefully.
Shaking her head at him fondly, she acquiesced with a sigh, ‘If you insist.’
Grinning widely in triumph, Sherlock cupped her face and pulled her into a kiss that melted her legs. He broke away with a beaming smile and she staggered back, eyes wide and luminous, as he spun on his heel and hurried toward the door.
‘I’ll have Mycroft arrange all travel and lodging arrangements for a one bedroom, cat-friendly flat. Do come round Baker Street after your shift, Dr Hooper. I believe I have some details about our relationship to clarify before our trip which I think you will find… enlightening.’
Molly flushed bright red when he turned back and winked. With a smoldering gaze, he smirked and slipped out the door.
‘So, would that be a yes?’ Mike teased.
‘What?’ She turned to him in surprise. ‘Oh, yeah, I mean, yes. Definitely, yes.’
She couldn’t wipe the dazed grin from her face and Mike chuckled. ‘Go. I’ll cover the rest of your shift.’
‘No, I can’t let you do that,’ she insisted half-heartedly.
‘Go,’ he pushed her gently toward the door. ‘I’ve been waiting for that boy to get his head out of the sand almost as long as you have. Don’t wait another minute. Go!’
Grinning, Molly hugged him fiercely and then raced out the door. Her lab coat flapped behind her as she ran after Sherlock. Bursting out into the street, she saw him raising his hand for a cab and hurried to catch him.
‘Sherlock!’ She called out.
He turned around and let out a surprised grunt when she collided with him. Her arms went around his neck, pulling him down, and then she was kissing him again, with far more passionate than the one they shared in the lab.
His hands slipped beneath her lab coat and gripped her waist, pulling her closer. She leaned up on her toes and gasped against his mouth when he bent slightly then lifted her up, her feet leaving the ground.
Breaking apart to breathe, Sherlock slowly lowered her back down. But though her feet touched the ground, Molly felt as though she could fly. His curls were tousled and unruly and his eyes were shining as he smiled softly down at her. ‘Is that clarification enough for you?’
Molly shook her head and pulled him back down. ‘Nope,’ she murmured and kissed him again.
AN: Yep, the Body Farm is actually happening at Northern Michigan University. Finally, our MI winters will be useful for something. ;)
Levi gauges the distance between himself and the dummy titan, backs up half a step, and leaps.
He’s taken to training on his own as much as he can. The other recruits simply can’t keep up with him. And he doesn’t like the wary stares of those who still aren’t accustomed to this new Underground recruit. Or the pitying stares of those who know about what happened to Farlan and Isabel just a few months ago.
Levi stares at the sky, clouds floating across the endless expanse of blue and the sun’s brightness making him squint. He doesn’t think he’ll ever get used to that sight. For a second, Levi allows himself to enjoy this feeling, flying under the open sky with the help of the 3DMG. The feeling of freedom.
Then Levi latches his grapple onto a tree trunk and uses his momentum to lift himself up in a high arc until he’s directly over the dummy. He shifts his weight until he’s almost horizontal, shoots his second hook into the dummy’s shoulder, and falls.
The world blurs as Levi twists through the air, aiming himself at the neck of the dummy. He has to hold himself just right to spin the right way, reach the right moment, keep his blades out and ready without catching them on his wires. Has to make sure that nothing he does upsets the balance needed to hit his target, even as his fall grows faster and harder to control.
Thwunk. Both Levi’s blades hit home, carving two deep gashes that would surely fell a real titan. Then Levi shoots a hook into a nearby tree and lifts himself toward the sky.
The spinning strike is a move Levi’s been developing on his own. It’s risky and difficult but, if done properly, guaranteed to kill. This is the first time Levi’s done it so successfully.
Levi lands on a tree branch and turns away from the sky to glare down at whoever it is that’s interrupted him. On the ground, he can see top of a familiar blond head that makes his stomach flip. Him. What could he want?
“Spinning like that is especially difficult. Few people can do it without getting tangled in their wires.”
“Did you want something?”
“I came here to do some solo training, but it looks like you already had that idea. Mind if I join you?”
“Ah. I see.”
Levi didn’t necessarily intend to offend Erwin - just state the truth - but the fact that Erwin’s not offended at all pisses him off. “I don’t want anyone slowing me down,” Levi says.
“Slowing you down?” Erwin asks. “I can’t imagine how that would be the case. If you’re referring to your maneuver gear talent, I’ll remind you that I’ve caught you in the air before.”
Levi scowls. He doesn’t want to be reminded of that. It still makes him feel weird to think back on that day when everything changed.
“You wouldn’t have caught me if you didn’t have your friend helping you out,” Levi says.
“Mike certainly helped, but I believe I would have caught up to you eventually regardless.”
Levi snorts. “You’re delusional.”
Erwin leans his head back to see Levi better and tilts it to the side. “Am I?”
“You heard me.” Erwin checks his gear and then looks up at Levi with an unfamiliar look in his eye. “I think it will be useful training. Those of our skill level can only benefit so much from swatting at dummies. Let us see what happens when you try to evade me, and I try to catch you.”
“A rematch,” Levi says.
“A rematch,” Erwin agrees.
And a chance to put blondie in his place. However much Levi has come to respect Erwin as a soldier and a leader, something about the prick irritates him. It’ll be satisfying to beat him.
“Fine then. This time, I’ll be pushing your face in the mud,” Levi promises. Then he leaps off the tree and flies.
The training area is in a patch of woods just beyond the walls of survey corps headquarters, rife with tall trees and plenty of cover. Traveling through the thick branches is dangerous at any speed, but trying to outrun Erwin puts it at a whole other level. It tests the limits of Levi’s agility and strength, challenges him in a way that feels exhilarating.
Levi arcs over the tree cover, the sunlight shining on his face and the wind whipping around his hair, and realizes that, for the first time in who knows how long, he’s kind of enjoying himself.
Erwin keeps pace behind him. Levi can hear him pushing through leaves and occasionally catches a glimpse of him. But no matter what, Levi always manages to evade him. Erwin’s too tall to fit through the spaces Levi finds between the branches. And even if he weren’t, he’s nowhere near a match for Levi’s strength and speed.
Deep in the woods, Levi realizes he no longer hears Erwin. He stops on a tree branch and crouches low, waiting and listening. But still, there’s nothing. The only sound in the forest is the call of birds and the steady hum of insects.
“Give up, old man?” Levi calls.
Suddenly there’s a loud rustle of branches just to Levi’s right. He sees the flash of a blade through the foliage. Levi shoots a hook off to the left and jumps.
He doesn’t see Erwin until he’s already in the air, and he’s nowhere near the blade Levi saw. Erwin crouches in the tree that Levi’s grapple is currently in, and before he can change direction, Erwin calmly pulls the grapple out of the tree trunk.
Levi falls. He shoots off his right grapple, but Erwin’s already on him, dragging him to the ground and throwing off his aim. They land hard, Erwin’s own wires barely slowing their fall, Levi on his back and Erwin on top of him.
The landing knocks the breath out of Levi. He stares at at Erwin, how his gold hair is haloed by clouds and how the blue of the sky is almost the same as the blue in his eyes. Levi’s breath doesn’t come back easily.
“It appears that I won.”
“All’s fair in love and war.”
“Are we at war now?”
The faintest smile plays around Erwin’s lips. “Perhaps.”
He stands and offers a hand to Levi. Levi takes it, allows Erwin to pull him up, and then yanks Erwin off balance. He quickly trips him, throws him face-first to the ground and, while there’s no mud here, makes do with pushing Erwin’s face in the dirt.
“Now we’re even,” he says, letting go of Erwin and walking away.
But when he glances back at Erwin, his expression isn’t angry, as Levi would have expected it to be. It’s … impressed? No. That doesn’t make any sense.
Levi’s heart is pounding as he makes his way back to headquarters. He tells himself it’s from exertion.
I tried to resist, but I can’t. I’m tackling a new WIP, which picks up at the finale. Can be read on ff.net too. (Chapter 2 is up there, and I’ll put it up here soonish.) Sadly, I can’t post easily to prisonbreakfic, but I’ll update there as I can.
Day 0 (Exoneration Day)
Sara had been resolute: if Michael’s plan worked, if he truly was exonerated and they found themselves free from this nightmare, they weren’t running. Starting fresh didn’t have to mean starting over. Mike would go home to his familiar bed, to his school, his friends. The house was hers, paid for and in her name, she told Michael, a hint of pride in the jut of her chin. Her eyes had held his: the effort she’d put into making a life for their son there was hers, too, and should have been Michael’s…theirs to share. He’d have that back, she said. He’d get it all back; they both would.
