So apparently the people that worked on Bangtan’s upcoming comeback song are highly anticipating it. According to them, it’s not just going to capture the fans’ attention but the attention of the general public as well.
Boys text to you when you’re in a coma and they’re miserable without you ~~
(school is kicking my ass right now but I’m trying to keep active) ~~ also are you guys ready for their comeback idk if I am haha
Alright so I just wanna talk about this for a second. It’s obviously heart-breaking that knowing what we had strongly suspected, ie the girls actually having had recorded a complete album ready to go for a summer comeback, was true…the album got fucking thrown on a shelf somewhere probably along with 2ne1′s US album with BEP and Will.i.am and probably numerous copies of CL’s ep, Bom’s, etc. Fucking dirty ass rats at that company CONFIRMED, thank you to Sandara Park for giving blackjacks the straight up, no bs truth.
But for this post I’d just like to highlight how much CL loves and cares for 2NE1. All the time I see shit about how “CL is a bad leader, CL used 2NE1 just to make money on her tour, CL ruined 2ne1 by going solo in the US, CL makes everything about herself,” etc.
It has now been confirmed through Dara’s actual words (above) and CL’s written ones (”I left everything behind and was in Korea all summer working on our album but it fell apart…” from CL’s letter to bjs after disbandment), that CL dropped her solo preparations in favor of writing for and recording for her group, 2NE1. In order to understand just how serious this is, you need to understand the American music industry.
It is an industry that heavily relies on heavy saturation, connections, and essentially being at the right place at the right time.
My theory is that CL and her US team were READY for a full ep release in late August/early September, but it was scrapped because of the stuff going on behind the scenes with 2ne1. The timeline looks like this:
Typically, an American artist would have released one or two more singles shortly after Lifted and then dropped the album, OR done a continual single release until all the tracks had been revealed thus making up the tracklist of the album, ready to be sold as one to to the public. This was probably part of CL’s plan, because when her North American tour was announced, they mentioned that CL would be performing new material. If all had gone according to plan, and she was able to release more singles or the ep in late August or early September, she definitely would have had new music to sing on the tour. But we all know that did not happen.
The solo debut timeline was completely thrown off by CL halting preparations to write for and record with 2NE1. I am not saying this is an insult; in fact, I am talking about it to show how much I am grateful for her as leader of 2ne1, how quick she is to put her group before herself.
The momentum for CL’s ep release was clearly in the making, with the release of Lifted, followed shortly by the Late Late show appearance and then a North American tour for maximum publicity and exposure. The only thing missing was the music. It was really a missed chance to hit the public full force - CL mentions timing a lot, and that little pocket of time in the summer between the release of Lifted and the announcement of her first solo tour, would have been prime time to get her face EVERYWHERE and start to make it happen. Timing is SO so key in terms of making it in America, so for them to miss that chance of building on what they had started is a pretty big deal.
Due to god knows what happening with YGE in Korea, it seems that CL and the US team had to realllyyyy cut back on what they originally had planned. And now they will have to wait, again, for a good time to really debut CL.
So before you start trash talking CL just have a little empathy and think about what she put on pause…the high stakes of gambling with time and exposure in the American music industry, and think before you type your baseless comments. CL loves 2NE1 and that is fact.
