i am proud of my emotions

anonymous asked:

arden! how were the amas? i hope you had a good time <3

it was the most incredible experience, and i can’t even put into words how emotional i am feeling… last night still seems so surreal, and i could not be more proud of the boys! everyone looked beautiful, sang and danced their hearts out, the whole crowd was on their feet, the cheers were deafening… my heart flew out of my chest :-(

you could tell how genuinely happy and amazed they all were to be in that moment, i hope they enjoyed it lots ;; well done m’loves [insert a million purple hearts emojis]

I HAVE NEVER BEEN PROUDER OF MY SON

can you believe this was the boy who only a few months ago googled “how to sleep with girls when you’re gay”

can you believe this is the boy who isolated himself from his friends and everyone he loved because he hated who he was and who he might be

can you believe this is the boy who told his friend that he is not ‘gay-gay’ and will never go all ‘gay pride just because I like Even’

can you believe this is the boy who told himself this every night

can you believe this is the boy who told his friends that he was just ‘maybe a little gay’ when he first came out

can you believe this was the boy taking a gay quiz all those months ago

and can you believe that This is the boy who fell in love with another boy 6 months ago

and is now sharing his love with the world

That’s Our Boy

“If I hadn’t met you, I never would have realized what kind of person I am. I would have grown into an apathetic, clueless, obedient adult. However, after spending time with you, in tears, laughter, and anger, I now know that I have all these emotions inside me, too. And that makes me proud. I’m glad to have known you.

Niall is out there making music that is so authentically him, music that he worked tirelessly on, music that everyone can connect to on some level. He’s so successful, yet he’s more humble than anyone I’ve ever seen. He’s so talented, yet he’s been overlooked, always. I’m just so proud of him? I’m so proud of the man and the musician he has become.

the foxhole court as john mulaney quotes
  • neil: i'll keep all my emotions right here and then one day i'll die
  • andrew: it is 100% easier not to do things than to do them
  • aaron: sometimes, babies will point at me, and I don't care for that shit at all
  • nicky: eat ass, suck a dick, and sell drugs
  • kevin: im really sorry about last night, it’s just that im mean and loud. it probably will happen again
  • dan: you have the moral backbone of a chocolate eclair
  • matt: THATS MY WIFE!
  • renee: i think emily dickison is a lesbian
  • allison: i am a proud, asian american woman, and you will treat me with respect!
  • wymack: i pulled up to the drive thru window at mcdonalds and ordered a black coffee for myself and kept driving. The one thing no kid at mcdonalds can ever enjoy
  • riko: This is an on-fire trash can

I don’t say it enough but I am so proud of the unholy trinity.

Like, I remember my first Felix video at like, 400.000 subs and I remember watching Mark’s 10.000 sub video and I remember the first time I saw Jack and the whole shoutout winner video.

I remember the first time Mark cried on camera.

I remember how heated Felix used to get.

I remember Sean hiding his loudness and his accent.

Now, my boys, my boys are standing up on their own.

Mark is a beacon of strength, proving that emotion is strength; and emotion is beautiful. Mark is speaking out about love and respect and spreading messages that will impact this community for the rest of our lives.

Felix is a symbol of resilience, keeping cool through one of the angriest, most hurtful media attacks I’ve ever seen. Felix is proof that we can learn and grow from our mistakes; that no matter what we’ve come from we can change the world.

Sean is the human embodiment of learning to love yourself. Who he is now is completely different from those first few videos. He has shown us self-doubt and weakness being turned into something incredible; beautiful. He has embraced every part of himself and showed millions of other people how to do the same.

I’m proud of a lot of YouTubers, I’m proud of a lot of people, but these three have overcome so much hardship and brought so much light into my life.

These three have shown a generation that it is beautiful to be emotional, it is beautiful to not lash out, to mess up, to apologize. It is beautiful to feel, to be angry, it is beautiful to be yourself, to love yourself.

These three have taught me the meaning of beautiful.

I tried to write
an apology.
After all,
every tornado
takes two
masses of air.
So it wouldn’t be fair
to lay the blame
on you.
At least,
that’s what I used
to believe.
After all,
I’ve seen my own share
of stormy weather.
But as it turns out
I didn’t contribute
to this particular storm.
I just got swept up
in your destruction.
I cannot write you
an apology
because the words
do not feel genuine.
There is only one thing
I am not proud of.
So this
is my apology:
I am sorry
for not loving myself enough
to leave sooner.
—  Sorry, V.P.

Jonathan Cape

EXCLUSIVE: Benedict Cumberbatch is reteaming with BBC One and Masterpiece for the adaptation of Ian McEwan’s award-winning 1987 novel The Child In Time. Cumberbatch will star in and executive produce the one-off 90-minute drama which is written by Stephen Butchard.

In their first commission, Pinewood Television and Cumberbatch’s SunnyMarch TV will produce The Child In Time for BBC One with Masterpiece co-producing. Studiocanal has worldwide sales.

Cumberbatch, who is coming off of the fourth season of BBC One/Masterpiece sleuthing series Sherlock, will play Stephen Lewis, a successful children’s book author whose daughter suddenly goes missing in the lyrical and heartbreaking exploration of love, loss and the power of things unseen.

The film will explore the dark territory of a marriage devastated by the loss of a child. Her absence sets Stephen and his wife on diverging paths as both struggle with an all-consuming grief. With the passage of time, a balance of sorts returns, until hope surfaces and triumphs unexpectedly.

This is one of McEwan’s major early works. It won the Whitbread Novel Award in 1987. One of Cumberbatch’s first notable feature roles was in the adaptation of McEwan’s Atonement.

Butchard is known for Five Daughters and The Last Kingdom. Julian Farino (Marvellous, Entourage) will direct.

Cumberbatch says, “I read the novel years ago and it stayed with me — profound, beautiful and very moving. Only Ian McEwan could write about loss with such telling honesty. We’re very excited to have Stephen Butchard’s subtle and brilliant adaptation, and in Julian Farino we have an extraordinary director who delivers emotional truth. I’m so proud The Child In Time will be the first drama produced by SunnyMarch TV.”

Pinewood Television’s Creative Director Helen Gregory, adds, “I am delighted to be bringing Stephen’s beautiful adaptation of The Child In Time to the screen in collaboration with such huge talents as Julian Farino and Benedict.”

McEwan is “thrilled to have my novel in the hands of such a high level creative team. I have fond memories of Benedict playing a brilliant and key part in the movie adaptation of Atonement. Now, it’s a great honor to have this actor of such immense resource, experience and subtlety in the lead role of The Child In Time.”

The drama was commissioned by the BBC’s Piers Wenger and Charlotte Moore. Controller, BBC Drama Commissioning, Wegner says, “The Child In Time is a unique and moving story and one which I think will touch the heart of every BBC One viewer. I’m proud to be involved with both Pinewood Television and SunnyMarch TV’s first television commission, and to welcome Benedict back again to BBC One.”

Masterpiece exec producer Rebecca Eaton notes the broadcaster “has been proud to showcase Benedict’s work for many years, and of course Sherlock has been a fantastic gift to our audience. To co-produce the first television drama out of his shop, SunnyMarch TV, with Pinewood Television is very gratifying.”

Studiocanal, which acquired a stake in SunnyMarch last April, has distribution rights. Rola Bauer, CEO/Partner of Studiocanal’s Tandem Productions, who took on oversight of all Studiocanal production and co-production television activities in the U.S. last year, secured the co-production deal with Masterpiece.

Exec producers are Helen Gregory for Pinewood Television; Cumberbatch, Adam Ackland and David Boulter for SunnyMarch TV; Lucy Richer for the BBC; Eaton for Masterpiece and Butchard.

Cumberbatch is currently shooting The Weinstein Co’s The Current War and reprises his role as Dr Stephen Strange in Disney/Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok which releases in November. He’s repped by Conway van Gelder Grant and UTA.

From deadline.com
Humans are Wierd Tale

“The planet Txar has been on civil war since long before the Galactic Union discovered their existence. The Txarian sentient species, Ky.rroc are hermaphrodites around two hundred fifty centimeter high and a hundred thirty kilograms heavy. Their skin is even thicker than steel, almost an exoskeleton, and their musculature so strong they are able to carry twice their own weight. The first commandant to ever see one described xe as a kill machine.”

As Commandant Lou’tt spoke about my own species all I could see was fear on the eyes of the various aliens around. By pure luck my ancestors have reached the G.U. before the Kishemern. As soon as the commander called my people kill machines a tiny creature, using a spacesuit, “for safety purposes”,  raised xis hand.

- Human Gabriel, for the hundredth time. - The Commandant spoke with impatience - If you want to ask something, you can just talk. No need to wait to a officer allow you to.

- Right, Lou. - The “human” looked to xir superior - That commandant has ever been on Terra? I mean, do you really call those kill machines?

I looked into the tiny creature eyes. I could see the predator within, although it was hidden behind childish laughter, fake peace and self hatred. The thing the G.U. never found out about the Ky.rroc was how extreme are our predatory senses, barely mind reading.

- How many generations have passed since your kind last seen war, Human? - I saw the crew shaking out of fear again, but the human retributed my look, showing xis teeth, not as sharp as mine, far from threatening, but a clear challenge. - I guess your kind have outcame hunt, halfway mutated into herbivores. How you dare calling the proud Jug.dymak of the Kr.rroc not a killing machine.

- Yrillis-6, Txar is called a Death World by the Union, I’ll give you that. - The human howled that offense - A Class Two Death World. - Xis voice had no fear, xis eyes started glowing with excitement -  I am from Sol-3, Terra the only Class Six Death World that is inhibited.

“I can survive temperatures below freezing, and halfway boiling. Most poison are ineffective against my kind, and many of those that are we use for fun. We are able to mimic any species cries or languages. Humans are know for bonding with any living thing, and many non-living to. You ask how many generations we have since we last saw war? There are some happening right now, using titanium piercing ammo, incendiary cluster bombs, nuclear friction grenades

“And you wonder why ain’t I afraid of the Ky.rroc? My own body is a lethal bioweapon to your species. My breath carries microorganisms that can kill you, not to talk about those that live only inside of me, my fluids are acid to your skin. You may kill me, but my corpse alone can slay one of your cities.”

- I am a proud child of Sol-3, a son of Terra.  - Xis eyes sparkled, predatory, as no being ever was - I was named Gabriel Thanatos, names that symbolize the guardian angel and the death. As my father said, what Humanity are.

I felt then what those crew members did. Fear, an emotion I only knew throughout my prey. I fell for my knees, impotent as I understood why that monster had so much laughter, fake peace and self hatred. Xe was preventing xiself from feeling power hunger, megalomania and bloodlust.

- Always keep a Terran around, Ky.rooc Jug.dymak. - The commandment said as the human walked away to the battlefield, unplugging his suit - After all, they are hard to kill, and harder not to love after a while.

Please feel free to add

Seven and Yoosung accessory swap!! (+ Sleeping LOLOL Prince and double glasses cause Seven looks odd without them-)

I swear I like Zen the most but all I ever draw is Yoosung-

I wish I could put into words how much I adore joji and how proud I am of him for bein out here and makin an even bigger name for himself and creating such dope content and music while still being a genuinely lovely person but I don’t kno how to properly convey any emotion ever so i’ll just lay here and listen to the entirety of pink season for the millionth time while staring at my ceiling in awe

i’m actually LOVING this origins ep like even though the pacing is rushed straight to hell i’m enjoying myself more than i have all season

things i love:

  • Coran is narrating this episode because he’s the sole survivor of everything while Allura was more there for the After (which I predicted #smarts)
  • Alfor was a wild boy
    • He also had a cute little ponytail awww
  • The implication that the five leaders got together to settle centuries of war
    • With a shot of Blaytz fighting Galra robots. Mermaids vs furries I guess
    • Honestly I was hoping Trigel was going to be the one who’s people are bloodthirsty warriors but pop-off I guess
  • I love how everyone in this group roasts Alfor
  • Alfor: I’m not a soldier!
Alfor, a few centuries later: fuck
    • Actually on second thought this is kind of sad
  • Red Paladins have always been Like That
  • Alfor: Y’know, like (makes a noncommittal noise)
Zarkon: … I don’t know what that means.
  • Alfor spending probably like, centuries building these Lions and then having no clue what they actually do is so funny to me
  • Red and Blue Paladins always save each other, that’s cute :’)
  • Red Paladins are always the literal right-hand man which is really funny to me
  • “Am I a leg?”
  • Just. The parallels between the Paladins of Old and the newbie Paladins is kind of heart-warming. Coran must feel so proud and sad around the new Paladins.
  • Everyone’s slightly formal way of talking is pretty nice to listen to
  • I find it super funny that Haggar talks with more emotion in her voice than Honerva like ghskjdghds
  • The Lions have always had a shitty paint job oh my god hskdjsgd
  • The expressions on everyone’s faces as they watch the first dimensional monster or whatever explode is really funny lmfao
  • Zarkon: we gotta protect Daibazzal every second is a waste we must be cautious we ought to spare no expense protecting my people
Honerva: I want to keep the rift open
Zarkon: Understandable have a nice day
  • The Galra have always had a vaguely evil aesthetic going on and just. No one commented on it. “Hey Zarkon, wanna maybe stop with the purple and the black and the slightly ominous everything?” “No.” “Understandable have a nice day.”
  • Alfor’s gradual descent into looking like a hobo while everyone else looks the literal same is a #mood
  • Honerva made her cat immortal oh my god #mood
  • It’s tradition to yell “Form x!” which is also really funny to me
  • Where did Zarkon even hide Honerva ghdskjghsdkjgjds
    • Like this scene is kind of touching but where the actual fuck was she. Did Zarkon just like leave her behind his chair or something?? Did he dump her back there
  • What is Zarkon even pissed about?? Yeah, Alfor destroyed Daibazzal, but like. He evacuated the planet. Everyone is alive? Chill.
  • Zarkon, back from the literal dead: we’re evil now
Galra commander: understandable have a vrepit sa day

@zsaszmatazz tagged me to do the “six movies I can watch any time” meme (LIKE 10 YEARS AGO I’M SORRY) so here goes!

1. Road to El Dorado

Don’t tell me you can’t also watch this whenever. It’s lolzy, it’s feelsy, and it’s the source of one of my three OT3s. If Miguel/Tulio wasn’t allowed to be canon, I’m making Miguel/Chel/Tulio my headcanon dammit. Fight me.

The story is a fantastic adventure every time. The music is amazing, the animation is GORGEOUS. The jokes are funny no matter how many times I hear them. “Stars.” “Holy ship.” “Apparently ‘El Dorado’ is native for GREAT… BIG… ROCK.”

And don’t get me started on the armadillo. Is that thing a spirit guide? A god? Probably. I’m for it.

2. Chicken Run

I consider this one a guilty pleasure. Again, always a funny, fun adventure. Just serious enough to balance out the lolz. And Ginger is one hell of a snarky character. I love that she’s simultaneously mom friend and rebel friend.

Also, it’s that claymation Wallace and Gromit animation, which is just… nifty! I always find myself watching certain characters move, checking out different textures, especially with Babs and her knitting. Just… excellent.

Also, also this:

3. Stardust

What can I say about this movie? Well…

I was based on a book written by my favorite author, Neil Gaiman, is a fantastic adventure that addresses the line between magic and non-magic worlds and includes such fun things as evil witches, falling in love, warring princes, falling stars, unicorns, ghosts, and sky pirates in drag (which Neil said he’s pretty sure he didn’t write, but it’s such a good scene you guys).

I am always happy by the end of it. The growing-up story is so good. And Tristan kind of bumbles through it like I totally believe I would were I thrown into a story like that. It’s just… such a satisfyingly complete and fun story, and I love it every single time.

4. Megamind

Shut the hell your mouth this is the best villain-to-hero story I know. I am always so proud of Megamind. Like, real talk, how often does our favorite adorable villain get the girl? How often do we get to see the bumbling bad guy actually get a cool-ass happy ending? And the emotional journey he goes on gets just serious enough without killing the funny vibe the whole movie carries.

The writing is tropey, but in a way that totally plays on those tropes while making fun of them. Trope-ception is my favorite trope. And I love, love, LOVE the design choices. This movie is so colorful, and the proportions are so over the top. It’s just a visual salad.

And, as always, the jokes are good no matter what. I don’t think I’ll ever get over, “And I love you, random citizen!” This movie is such a fun time, please go watch it.

5. Strange Magic

Have you heard of this movie? Well, now you have. Please go watch it.

Much like Megamind, Strange Magic got pushed to the back burner by more popular movies coming out at the same time. And that’s just a shame, because it’s just so good.

It’s a jukebox musical with reenactments of all sorts of songs, all of which are brilliant (half the time because Evan Rachel Wood My Queen is singing them, but also Alan Cumming, and sometimes they sing together and I die). The story is predictable, but the characters are what make it for me. They’re fun enough that even though I saw the end coming a mile away, it was nothing but enjoyable watching them get there.

This fandom is also dear to my heart. It’s full of some of the sweetest people with some of the most interesting fan fiction that I’ve ever read. When I think good writing, I think @abutterflyobsession who has made me cry on more than one occasion, and @jaegereska whose lore and OCs add so much to the world beyond the movie.

Major draws: good music, lovely animation, self-confidence story, princess with a sword, SWEET SWEET VENGEANCE, and did I mention singing by Evan Rachel Wood, Alan Cumming, and Kristin Chenoweth? Bruh.

6. Labyrinth

My favorite movie for now and always. Set it at the bottom for full effect. Get ready.

First off, music by David Bowie that is fuckin’ catchy as heck. If you don’t want to at least tap your foot along to ‘Dance Magic Dance’ you’re lying. ‘As the World Falls Down’ was the first song I remember wanting to know the lyrics to.

Side note: If you didn’t think the Fireys were creepy as fuck, you’re also lying.

There has never been so much glitter in one place ever. The visual gags are always funny. Like, there are Bowie faces I still can’t find to this day hidden in the scenery??? The muppets are all adorable because Brian Froud is amazing, and I want a pet goblin. Everything is just so much fun to look at. Don’t even get me started on the ridiculous fantasy fulfillment that is the ballroom scene. I just.

The jokes are always funny because they run on a dry sense of humor like mine. “Well, come on feet.” One I missed for years. “No, that’s the dead end, behind you!” Ha, hubris. “It’s a piece of cake!” Shut up, Sarah…

But you also can’t not love the characters? Like, come on, who doesn’t wanna hug Ludo just a little. And Didymus, the fox knight that rides a fuckin’ tiny dog into battle?? And Hoggle who collects jewelry and pretends to be bitter as hell but cares so much??? Heck off, they’re all awesome.

Fave movie. Always.

Honorable Mention: Big Fish

Added this one because I can watch this any time, but it always makes me cry, so I usually save it for when I need a good cry. (Srsly, @may10baby can vouch, I once tried to explain the end to her and started sobbing in the car).

It’s just such a cool story. We get to see the life of the father as told through his own hyperbolic stories, which include a star-studded cast playing funny scenes in between serious family time. And the end… christ, it’s just such a satisfying ending. Such a good play on storytelling and what it can mean to people. Which, as a writer, means a lot to me.

Also, it’s the only Tim Burton movie I’ve seen that doesn’t look like… that. You know. How Burton movies look. Helena Bonham Carter plays like 3 different people, and none of them are Mrs. Lovett. That’s a feat, honestly.

I’ve said this about a few of these, but please watch this movie.
