i am inspired when i write tags i don't understand that

so i don't know if you're still doing the Dex poetry series, but i would be interested in seeing if Dex ever shows Nursey the poems and how that goes down, if that's okay! thank you :))

I am still doing the poetry series (I promise!), but I haven’t had any inspiration recently. I will continue it if and when the inspiration strikes. Really, I will.

If anyone doesn’t know, this is my poetry series tag and it’s a series of poems written from Dex’s POV.

Thank you for the prompt! The poems are actually not from the POV of my usual HCed Dex, so it was cool to write from another version of Dex’s POV. :)

(Also, I was in a weird mood, so this got super introspective and complicated but I feel like it fits for Dex’s relationship with writing so I’mma just go with it.)

*~*~*

It’s not that Dex isn’t good at hiding things. He is. He grew up in a house with very nosy parents and five siblings who assumed anything of Dex’s was theirs as well. He learned how to keep things private, found nooks and secret spots as easily as he found studs in a wall and learned how to be just conspicuous enough to be overlooked. Of course, the newfound literary part of him can’t help but see this as a metaphor, the kid trapped in the closet is good at hiding things, and he realizes it with the same kind of bitterness he attributes to all of his newfound literary perspectives.

It’s mostly Nursey’s fault anyway, that Dex is so literary now. Dex could just as easily blame Samwell as a whole, what with requiring he take a literary course, but it’s harder to blame an institution than a person and Dex, somewhat out of character, took the easy way out in this time. Yes, the first English course was required, but the second was not. The second was a poetry course usually taken by freshmen who hadn’t technically chosen their major yet but were dead set on English. Dex had been the only science oriented person there and, at first, he had felt out of place. That, too, Dex realized later, was a metaphor.

so this is a long, long time coming!!! i’ve been simultaneously looking for an excuse to make a bias list, and looking for any excuse not to do one. as a lot of you may have noticed, i’m not the best at expressing emotions. i’m just. sorta blown away??? by the reception ivan’s gotten and the support so many people have given me. i can’t actually find the words to express how thankful i am for that. not to be melodramatic but i honestly don’t think i would be writing my book now if it weren’t for the support of my followers, mutuals, and friends. you’ve given me a platform and a creative environment in which to develop my canon, from side characters to the occasional failed experiment in terms of figuring things out. so thank you thank yousd fhtaHANK YOU!!!!

Because I’m heartbroken over the fact that Michael suffers from constant nightmares and I just want to cuddle him forever and kiss his forehead seventeen thousand and forty-two times. Inspired by this tweet

Nightmares shook him like earthquakes, his mind cracking and his body trembling from their force. They were relentless; aftershocks jolting him awake after he thought the worst had already come.

You’d never know that such a bright and warm person by day, suffered from gray storm clouds looming over his bed every night. You’d never know unless you were the one who slept by his side.

“Michael,” you whispered, turning your body beneath the covers to face your quivering boyfriend as you tried to wake him.

He was mumbling nonsense, eyes screwed shut and brows knitted tightly together. You reached your fingers over to smooth the frown lines that marred his porcelain skin. They were battle wounds—evidence of midnight’s darkest torture—and they wouldn’t disappear.

“Michael,” your voice called out louder as you sat up, the comforter slipping from your chest. You shivered, but you weren’t sure if it was because of the chilly night air invading your bedroom through the window or the way it seemed like Michael was trapped—a prisoner within his own head.

Michael!” You shouted frantically when he didn’t respond, his body rattling more violently and his sleep talking becoming louder and more incoherent.

Green eyes stunned you when the curtain of his long lashes and pale eyelids finally snapped open, the moonlight reflecting in his dilated pupils.

Michael was panting as his eyes flickered wildly around the room as if trying to find something familiar to anchor himself to and gauge his location. Finally they locked on to you and the relief that washed over him was practically visible in the way his chest began to raise and fall at a steadier pace as a shaky sigh passed his lips.

“It was just a dream,” he breathed, but it seemed like he was trying to convince himself rather than tell you.

“Seemed like a nightmare,” you told him, your voice shrouded with fear and worry. You combed your fingers through his hair soothingly, pushing the sweat-dampened strands from his forehead before you rested your palm against his cheek. He nuzzled his face further into your touch, his hand coming up to cover yours and holding you to him as if he were afraid you’d disappear. As if he were afraid you were just a dream.

“Want to talk about it?” You asked quietly, bringing your other hand up to cradle his face. You brushed your thumbs across his cheekbones, watching as his eyelashes fell against them when he retreated behind closed eyelids. Another sigh left his mouth, the sound seeming to echo in the still darkness of the room. He shook his head.

“Not now,” he answered, his eyes opening again to meet yours and imploring for you to understand. “I don’t think I’m ready to relive it.”

You nodded, although concern was still clearly written on your face. “Is there anything I can do to help?”

He smiled, only a small curve tugging up one corner of his pink lips.

“I just need you to be here with me.”

You couldn’t help but smile back at him. Leaning down, you fell back against your pillow and scooted beneath the covers once more. Your body wiggled until it was close against Michael’s and you could press kisses to every inch of his face. You watched, as the shadows seemed to fade from his eyes with every peck of your lips to his skin. The damage remained, but you’d help mend the pieces of him as long as he’d allow you to.

With one last kiss to his lips, you spoke the one word that would chase away his nightmares for good that night.

Always.”

B, I wanted to thank you for sharing your info re: Zayn's new 1D inspired TV show. If you don't mind, may i ask you something? You wrote that Stennett will be managiing the rights with NBBCUniversal. As I am not in your proffession, I gooogled to see who the deuce NBCUniversal is and I saw that it's a media/entertainment company (owned by Comcast) and the owner of Universal studios (where the Boys launched FOUR etc). But I cannot for the life of me fiind if they are still related to UMG (1.)

2. (Liam’s and Niall’s new label). The reason I’m asking you is because Stennett has a partnership with WMG (via FAE, her joint venture with Len Blavatnik), But, UMG is still a minor stockholder (10%) of her company TFA (where theoritically the artists that she manages are signed). I am trying to figure out what is going on, this is why I came knock-knock knocking on your door! Thank you for your time annd patience.

Hello hello! you’re very welcome! :)

So.  first things first.  NBCUni and UMG are not owned by the same company. Universal Pictures and UMG used to be connected, but as of 2004 they’re completely separate.  The show has no connection with UMG.

BUT! I did have some questions surrounding the project and music rights etc so I brought them up to a friend of mine who used to work for Sony.  At one point, she wanted to be a music supervisor (i.e. the person that cultivates the soundtrack for tv shows and films) and worked under someone who was a big time music supervisor.  She currently works for a film company so basically she knows and understands both sides of the industry.  That being said, take this all with a grain of salt because she did preface a lot of her statements by saying “I think that…” or “I’m pretty sure that…” so none of this is fact, just strong opinion.

So.  This part of the Variety article really stood out to me: “Stennett will serve as executive music producer and will manage all music rights created in the series, in partnership with NBCUniversal.”

Basically, what this means is Stennett is going to get a salary from the TV show and most likely she and NBCUni will own the rights to any original songs written for the show (and my friend suspects the publishing rights as well).  Now, this isn’t written in stone because say they really want Performer X to write and sing on the show. That performer can say “yeah, sure, but let’s negotiate.  I want the rights because I’m a big deal and you need me to help your show more than I need you to get my music out there.” BUT keep in mind, if that happens, Stennett is still getting paid because she’s getting that flat salary from the show.

NOW.  Stennett is also a music manager.  With a wide variety of clients.  Who write and perform music.  A manager who gets a percentage of their client’s income every time they book a gig.  And oh hey look…here’s a brand new show that’s just itching to have people write (and possibly perform) music.  So not only will she be getting a salary from the show, she could potentially be making bank by hiring her clients to write and perform music and taking her 15% cut off what they make.  It’s kind of genius in that Taylor Swift Snake-like way.

Coupled with Simon’s reaction and that Guardian article, I’m starting to wonder if maybe Stennett double crossed Simon.  I mentioned it in my tags in Cris’s post earlier.  I know for a fact that Simon has been wanting to expand Syco’s TV shows since they make the most money for Sony rather than his actual music. He has been wanting to get more into scripted shows and initially when I heard about this project, I thought maybe this was going to be his way into that especially with Dan’s stupid article in The Sun (which I refuse to link to) where he said Zayn was teaming up with the creators of Entourage (insert eye roll emoji).  M3lly did a great job of summing things up here and I 100% agree.  I really do think this was Simon’s project initially.  And looking at how angry he seems to be and how his name currently is nowhere to be found on this new incarnation? I think Sarah stole this idea from him, shopped it around, and found a great deal for herself.

What does this mean for Zayn? Not much, honestly.  I think he’s just going to be EP in title alone.  I honestly don’t think he’ll actually have much creative control at all.  I DO like the fact that the production team is made up of a lot of women- Noelle Wolf (Dick Wolf’s wife), Sarah Stennett obvs, Amanda Ghost (Ms. King of Anything), and the two showrunners are women as well (there are also a few men involved but the women outnumber them currently).  I’m HOPING what this means is that it’ll be FAR less misogynistic than anything Doug Ellin would have created with Simon.  I also think Zayn will probably write (and maybe perform?  who knows) some music for it (which again, that money will go back into Stennett’s pockets).

Once again we just have to wait and see what it will bring.  I find it fascinating to watch it all play out.

You don't have time to research things and you're a writer? Yikes. That isn't good, even when it comes to fiction!

….

That’s it. Mama Gloves are off.

You do realize I not only write, correct? I am also a hired voice actor, programmer, director, and extra hand for my two very overworking parents.

Here is my ENTIRE workload. Please keep in mind I do not have a 9-5 job because this is literally what I do.

  • Seduce Me 2 (otome) - Writer, Programmer, Producer, Voice Talent
  • Choose Me (Audio otome cd) - Writer, Producer, Audio Mixer
  • Apron Academy (Ecchi Dating Sim) - Writer, Programmer, Producer, Voice Talent
  • All for you (Meta dating sim with a yandere twist)-  Writer, Programmer, Producer, Voice Talent
  • Honey Hearts Cafe (A Yaoi Dating Sim) - Programmer, GUI designer
  • Love and Romance - A Study of Intimacy (A NSFW otome game) -  Writer, Programmer, Producer
  • Yan Sim - Casting Agent and Voice Talent
  • Another Anime I can’t speak about yet - Voice Talent
  • An NSFW Game I can’t speak about on here - Voice Talent
  • A second NSFW game that hasn’t started - Voice Talent

Now, when it comes to writing, I DO MY RESEARCH. Have you not played Seduce Me? Have you looked through the SeduceMeAsk tag at how indepth the lore is? From your little snide comment, this is obviously not the case. It just so happens that I put Seduce Me over Love and Intimacy because Seduce Me 2 is my fucking priority and Love and Intimacy is the NaNoReno side project that I can get to when I’m not ass deep in SM2 scripts.

From 8am-9am I eat and get ready to work on whatever I have scheduled. For the duration of this week, it’s finalizing the Seduce Me 2 script and making sure Apron Academy, Love and Romance, All For You, and Choose Me are in order.

9am-12pm I work. I have my email up in a side tab while I clack away at 10+ scripts involving Sam, Erik, James, Matthew, Damien, and Diana alongside the training options for Saero, Fae, Rabbit, Shadow, and Sergeant. Each script ranges from 10k-13k, depending on what is going on. DURING the allotted time, I also have skype open for my directors (Yandere Simulator and two NSFW directors) to have me record short snippets for their games and I have skype open for my background artists to send me updates and shots of progress. At this point, I am focused on the romance and story development scenes and making sure they are believable and understandable as well as individual (so that’s 6 individually written scenes, multiplied by 12 because each day has 2 scenes a pop).

12-1pm is Lunch.

1pm-7pm I get back to work, focusing on making sure my RESEARCH on Seduce Me’s magic usage and battle techniques are correct, drawing from descriptions of Fantasy Novels (Dresdin, DragonLance, Raveloft), D&D (3.5, 5E, Pathfinder), and Christian Mythos alongside African andNative American rituals and celebrations for Brute Demon inspiration.

7pm-8pm Dinner.

8pm-1/2am I try to destress and work much slower than I would during the allotted 2 work times, making sure that everything in the scripts run smoothly and the story makes sense. This spans for ALL OF THE SCRIPTS. During this time as well, I spend a bit working on Apron Academy’s programming and GUI, All For You’s outline, Love and Romance’s outline, and mixing for Choose Me.

2am-8am I sleep then repeat the process over again.

This has been my schedule for the past 2 months. Am I a masochist? maybe. But I love doing a million projects at a time and giving each the care they deserve when I am able to. Not one project has been neglected by me by the time it reaches full public release when it comes to organization, research, polishing, and perfecting. I would rather send myself to a fucking hospital (which I have almost done twice now) than let that happen.

If you don’t think I research my fucking shit, then you obviously have not seen any of my fucking work. The only reason Love and Romance is an exception to the rule is because Seduce Me 2 is my priority, Choose Me needs to come out by Mid-March, Apron Academy is schedule for an April Release for it’s Demo, and All For You is already in motion.

And you are nipping at me over a fucking fictional character’s name.

Anon, with the utmost bluntness…
