Temeraire by professorfangirl (lizeckhart) / 8858 w. / E

“At Bond’s age anything like love was trapped and walled away, a scorpion under a glass; what he felt now was like the fire at Skyfall, filtered through icewater light. And yet it was there, it was possible: one more reckless leap, one more deadshot fall, one more defiance of loss. It was there, waiting in the way Q’s eyes lingered on him, the intelligent desire in their depths, patient, saying, ‘we have almost all the time in the world’."

Does Your Mother Know? by sorion / 17561 w. / M

“He told me… that he’d loved and trusted people with his life before, and that it didn’t end well. And he told me… that he would trust me with his life… and his death.”

“Wow. Now I don’t know which one of you to warn off of breaking the other’s heart, anymore.”

The Inevitability of Time by dhampir72 for missMHO / 27055 w. / M

When they meet for the first time at the National Gallery, Bond has a strange sense of deja vu.

For the 00QNewYearParty as a gift for missMHO.

Mister Kiss Kiss Bang Bang by sorion / 31571 w. / M

Despite Bond making a kind of running joke out of Q’s “exploding pen” remark by requesting one at every opportunity… it was Q who mentioned it first. The reason behind it is quite simple. They both like to blow shit up. And then they realise that that’s not the only thing they have in common.

Denominations by WriteThroughTheNight/ 33299 w. / Series / T

Part 1: Denominations by WriteThroughTheNight

"Q confirms that he’s an Empath three months before his first day of primary school, and the deciding of Denominations that comes with it."

OR Q is smarter than anyone gives him credit for, and an Empath to boot.

The Haunting of Skyfall Lodge by BootsnBlossoms, Kryptaria for shipimpala / 36522 w. / E

All his life, Q has seen ghosts. For years, he’s searched for scientific proof to back up what he knows to be true. Finally, he starts a YouTube channel to chronicle his adventures of exploring haunted sites. His latest location: Skyfall Lodge.

Yours, J by swtalmnd / 41104 w. / Series / G to E

Part 1 : Yours, J by swtalmnd

Bond sends letters. Q is vexed. Q-branch starts a betting pool. There are an appalling amount of sweets. Also, 002 is a bit of an arse.

  • "Before they catch us hurry!"
  • you hear the twelve boys start running after you and Minghao
  • you drop your board
  • "But I still don’t know how to ride!” \
  • “it’s ok you have me here nothing will happen to you” he smiles at you and takes your hand
  • you both pedal on your boards away listening to his band mates throwing snacks at you both trying to get your attention
  • “MINGHAO YOU BETTER EXPLAIN THIS WHEN WE SEE YOU LATER”
  • “SHE’S MY SOULMATE” he yells back at them
  • and then you’re both riding away
  • side-by-side
  • eventually you both come to a stop at a park
  • sitting on the bench, hand in hand, you both stare up at the sky
  • and maybe at each other
  • “Can I get your number?” you say, after mustering up the courage
  • and chuckles and you both exchange phones for a moment
  • you notice his background is a picture of all his members holding a trophy
  • “when was this?"
  • "ah, that was when we won 1st place on a music show for the first time, i was very happy that day"
  • your eyes scan each and every member, noticing some were a little puffy eyed
  • but then your eyes settled on his face
  • he showed the same exact bright smile as he had when he meet you
  • it warmed your heart
  • "so can I listen to a song?"
  • and so you sat there, him explaining each and every song
  • to the title songs, the performance team songs, to his own duet with his fellow Chinese member
  • and then he let’s you listen to highlight, and you say to let you guess his parts
  • when the song’s over you giggle
  • "i’m like a bird?"
  • how fitting
  • he laughs and wraps his arms around you happily, resting his head on your shoulder
  • "we’ll fly”

The Mean Marquis (Version 2)

Lafayette x Reader

Note: It’s here! The updated version of The Mean Marquis, it is still the same fic, the same story just with some additional scenes that were not there before. This version is not as rushed and I am really happy with the finished product so I hope you are too!

Warnings: There’s two sex scenes but other than that it’s basically fluff

1772

When your father first announced that you were to marry a French nobleman in just over a month, you felt as if your throat had fallen into your stomach. You were angry and shocked, so angry that you could hardly form a sentence before you stormed off.

That was three days ago, your anger had subsided and left you feeling worried. Worried about the man you were going to be married to. He wasn’t just any old French nobleman he was the Marquis de Lafayette, more affectionately known as the “Mean Marquis”. You’d heard stories about him about his ruthless and cold nature when it came to business. You had also heard about how popular he was with women, and that he was always surrounded by them.

“It’s just not fair!” you yell. You’d walked far enough away from you family’s home that you know you can speak without being heard. “I don’t even know him why should I marry him?” you groan as you sink to your knees.

You take a deep breath as you feel yourself start to panic. How on earth is he going to treat me? You wonder. After everything you’ve heard about him, the best you can hope for is that he will ignore you. He will probably give you a child or two but for the most part, just forget you even exist.

I came to ask for hartwin fic recs and saw your ask box caption and now I'm laughing while typing coz I finally decided to descend into hartwin hell after sitting in sidelines for years and appreciating artworks, so this will be my first time reading hartwin fics, and your dressing room #1 is free, yea, what are the absolute must read hartwin fics? (fandom classic or not, doesn't matter) Thanks in advance :)

Dressing Room #1 is always free, oh yeaaaah. ;)

And welcome to the wonderful world of Hartwin fanfic! You are in for a treat. I went on a massive Hartwin binge when I first got into fandom and literally failed to bookmark anything I read, so sadly my list will be fairly small.

First, I am going to start by suggesting you read anything and everything by: AnnaofAza, futuredescending, fideliant, and missbecky. I can’t even choose my favourites among them–all are beautifully told renditions and views of Hartwin, ranging from the downright angsty to bittersweet to fluff-filled toe-curling happiness we all want for them. Close your eyes, pick a fic from these four and I promise you will be happy with your choice :)

I don’t know about fandom classics: I know there are a few that have become quite popular but sadly I haven’t read them (mostly because of time–some of those guys are massive) so I can’t vouch for them but their popularity gives them credence :)

Here are a few of my current faves:

Pin-Up by moonflowers

Rated M. Harry falls in love with a pin-up model from one of those cheesy calendars. He ends up meeting said model and promptly loses the ability to function like a normal human being. Hilarious, sweet and a wonderful slow build that had me giggling and squirming in my seat.

Follow Me Out, Across The Stars by sassafrasx

Rated M. Eggsy has some serious hero worship for astronaut/explorer Harry Hart. This all comes to a head when Eggsy is picked to join Kingsman in their next mission. Copious amounts of flirting, getting caught masturbating and mutual pining galore. Excellent pacing and humour and SPACE!!

Buy Me Something Pretty by Regency

Rated T. Sugar Daddy Harry and Sugar Baby Eggsy but with a twist. I love their dynamic in this, how they approach it as a business opportunity and how they catch feelings in the aftermath. An interesting dynamic and Roxy and Eggsy’s friendship in this is great.

cannon fodder by ViolyntFemme

Rated E. What if Eggsy was sent to Kentucky instead of Harry? What if it was Harry left behind, thinking Eggsy was dead, ruminating with grief and regret on their last fight? An excellent retelling of canon events that sheds light on Harry’s vulnerability, employs excellent use of side characters and traitorous agents, and Harry and Merlin’s dialogue is superb.

Broken Crown by Damned_Writers

Rated M (warning for depictions of war and PTSD). I haven’t yet finished it (it is so dense and really heart wrenching so I am still taking my time with it) but literally one of my favourite fics I have read in a long time. Harry is prince-turned King of England, Eggsy is the gardener. They meet when Harry thinks Eggsy is trespassing on royal property. What follows is a whirlwind romance set agains the backdrop of WW2, misunderstandings and uncertainties, how duty and responsibility and war draw them apart and back together. The writing is masterful, lyrical and the way they write Harry and Eggsy… it has literally made me cry. I adore it so much, even if it kills me. Influences from The King’s Speech and Testament of Youth.

under my skin (tried so not to give in) by venvephe

Rated E. Eggsy uses kissing Harry on missions as a diversion tactic. Then it stops becoming a diversion tactic and just an excuse to Eggsy to snog Harry.

Okay, so my rec list is hella lame and I apologize. But I am going to tag @thisbirdhadflown for two reasons: so they can give more recs if they so wish and for everyone to check out their blog because they are doing the lord’s work. They rec Kingsman fics a lot. In separate posts and in once-a-month posts. They don’t just focus on Hartwin either so you get a bit of everything. I hope my paltry list gets you started! :)

Disappearance

She knew it would be strange and lonely to study abroad. She knew she’d feel lost, bewildered. It even had a name - culture shock. Like something benign, almost. Like jumping into a cold stream on a hot day, her mother said, it almost blanks your mind out to start with, but if you tough it out and stay in it, you adjust.

But she didn’t adjust, was the thing. It wasn’t just the distance, staying up late or getting up early to put fuzzy, stuttering skype calls through to her family, writing letters and postcards when that stopped working so well. It wasn’t the differences in language, the big and small adjustments she had to make for culture. (Why did Americans have to smile so wide, talk so loud?)

The place was weird was the thing. There were a thousand better words maybe - unsettling, abnormal, offset - but it all just boiled down to weird.

Home - England - could be weird too, but that was home weird, a right and natural weird. A weird of small tree copses and unloved council estates, of dark shadows traipsing the motorways and black dogs in the fog. She knew that magic. She’d tasted it already, knew the poisoned honey taste of it on her tongue. Merlin and Arthur sleeping until a prophesised time of great need, The Beast of Bodmin roaming wild, the sun behind the stones at Avebury.

Oh, she saw them, the gentry of Elsewhere University, she saw them in shadows and from the corners of her eyes and reflected in smooth surfaces. She knew them for legend and myth, she knew them - but she didn’t know them, either. They were different here, like the people were. She avoided eye contact, and never listened to the music from the lake no matter how beautiful it was, and when that pretty couple at the bar asked her home she didn’t go, because they smelled like chamomile flowers and poppies and blood.

It might have been fun, though.

She got fewer and fewer responses to her letters. Skype didn’t work at all any more. She made no friends, and none of her teachers remembered her name for more than three minutes. (she counted, on a stopwatch.)

She was disappearing, bit by bit from life, and no-one would care, no-one would remember. Nothing left of her.

She thought, in sharp jagged moments, of forcing some kind of remembrance. Of some kind of destructive public display - But she didn’t want to hurt herself, didn’t want to bring herself back into the world through destroying herself.

There was another option, her reflection said to her, when she looked into it too long. You’re vanishing anyway, what does it matter? It’s beautiful, you know, it’s beautiful.

She spent days, weeks, centuries in her room, letting the dust gather over her, hands pressed to her face. Or maybe it was just days, and there was no dust.

Once, as a child, she’d had a friend who wasn’t there. An invisible friend, as so many children do, only - only - she knew. She knew the way magic felt on her skin, tangled up in her heart. She’d never even known she missed it so intently, like some organ in her that had been torn out and only now started aching.

It wasn’t so hard, in the end, to make the choice. To walk out on a cold clear night, when the moon was a thin crescent, and to say Yes.

-

And in the end it got boiled down, reduced to a new legend. The international student who couldn’t handle the change any more, who got stressed and gave herself away.

No-one even remembers her name.

request: Can you write something about best friend harry!

masterlist

“You promise you’ll come?”

“Come on, love, have a little faith. I would cross an ocean to get to that gallery opening.”

I smirked at his joke, “Yes, Harry, that’s exactly what I’m asking you to do.”

I heard him chuckle on the other line, “I’ll be there. Promise.”

***

That was a week ago. I hadn’t talked to him much since and now we were nearing the end of the gallery opening. No sign of Harry. I checked my phone; no missed calls or texts. I tried calling him myself and only got his voicemail.

"Hi! Gallery opening today! Call me when you land, I just want to know if you got in safely.”

“Hey it’s me, just wondering when you’ll be here so I can let the curator know when to look for you.”

“Hi, me again, all the photos of you sold pretty quickly, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised I think most people are more here for you than me. Anyway, call me back please.”

“There’s only a few people left here and the gallery closes in an hour. Where are you?”

Patton’s Speech to the Third Army, June 5th, 1944

Gentlemen, be seated,

Men, all this stuff you hear about America not wanting to fight, wanting to stay out of the war, is a lot of bullshit. Americans love to fight. All real Americans love the sting and clash of battle. When you were kids, you all admired the champion marble shooter, the fastest runner, the big-league ball players and the toughest boxers. Americans love a winner and will not tolerate a loser. Americans play to win all the time. That’s why Americans have never lost and will never lose a war. The very thought of losing is hateful to Americans. Battle is the most significant competition in which a man can indulge. It brings out all that is best and it removes all that is base.

You are not all going to die. Only two percent of you right here today would be killed in a major battle. Every man is scared in his first action. If he says he’s not, he’s a goddamn liar. But the real hero is the man who fights even though he’s scared. Some men will get over their fright in a minute under fire, some take an hour, and for some it takes days. But the real man never lets his fear of death overpower his honor, his sense of duty to his country, and his innate manhood.

All through your army career you men have bitched about what you call ‘this chicken-shit drilling.’ That is all for a purpose—to ensure instant obedience to orders and to create constant alertness. This must be bred into every soldier. I don’t give a fuck for a man who is not always on his toes. But the drilling has made veterans of all you men. You are ready! A man has to be alert all the time if he expects to keep on breathing. If not, some German son-of-a-bitch will sneak up behind him and beat him to death with a sock full of shit. There are four hundred neatly marked graves in Sicily, all because one man went to sleep on the job—but they are German graves, because we caught the bastard asleep before his officer did.

An army is a team. It lives, eats, sleeps, and fights as a team. This individual hero stuff is bullshit. The bilious bastards who write that stuff for the Saturday Evening Post don’t know any more about real battle than they do about fucking. And we have the best team—we have the finest food and equipment, the best spirit and the best men in the world. Why, by God, I actually pity these poor bastards we’re going up against.

All the real heroes are not storybook combat fighters. Every single man in the army plays a vital role. So don’t ever let up. Don’t ever think that your job is unimportant. What if every truck driver decided that he didn’t like the whine of the shells and turned yellow and jumped headlong into a ditch? That cowardly bastard could say to himself, 'Hell, they won’t miss me, just one man in thousands.’ What if every man said that? Where in the hell would we be then? No, thank God, Americans don’t say that. Every man does his job. Every man is important. The ordnance men are needed to supply the guns, the quartermaster is needed to bring up the food and clothes for us because where we are going there isn’t a hell of a lot to steal. Every last damn man in the mess hall, even the one who boils the water to keep us from getting the GI shits, has a job to do.

Each man must think not only of himself, but think of his buddy fighting alongside him. We don’t want yellow cowards in the army. They should be killed off like flies. If not, they will go back home after the war, goddamn cowards, and breed more cowards. The brave men will breed more brave men. Kill off the goddamn cowards and we’ll have a nation of brave men.

One of the bravest men I saw in the African campaign was on a telegraph pole in the midst of furious fire while we were moving toward Tunis. I stopped and asked him what the hell he was doing up there. He answered, 'Fixing the wire, sir.’ 'Isn’t it a little unhealthy up there right now?’ I asked. 'Yes sir, but this goddamn wire has got to be fixed.’ I asked, 'Don’t those planes strafing the road bother you?’ And he answered, 'No sir, but you sure as hell do.’ Now, there was a real soldier. A real man. A man who devoted all he had to his duty, no matter how great the odds, no matter how seemingly insignificant his duty appeared at the time.

And you should have seen the trucks on the road to Gabès. Those drivers were magnificent. All day and all night they crawled along those son-of-a-bitch roads, never stopping, never deviating from their course with shells bursting all around them. Many of the men drove over 40 consecutive hours. We got through on good old American guts. These were not combat men. But they were soldiers with a job to do. They were part of a team. Without them the fight would have been lost.

Sure, we all want to go home. We want to get this war over with. But you can’t win a war lying down. The quickest way to get it over with is to get the bastards who started it. We want to get the hell over there and clean the goddamn thing up, and then get at those purple-pissing Japs. The quicker they are whipped, the quicker we go home. The shortest way home is through Berlin and Tokyo. So keep moving. And when we get to Berlin, I am personally going to shoot that paper-hanging son-of-a-bitch Hitler.

When a man is lying in a shell hole, if he just stays there all day, a Boche will get him eventually. The hell with that. My men don’t dig foxholes. Foxholes only slow up an offensive. Keep moving. We’ll win this war, but we’ll win it only by fighting and showing the Germans that we’ve got more guts than they have or ever will have. We’re not just going to shoot the bastards, we’re going to rip out their living goddamned guts and use them to grease the treads of our tanks. We’re going to murder those lousy Hun cocksuckers by the bushel-fucking-basket.

Some of you men are wondering whether or not you’ll chicken out under fire. Don’t worry about it. I can assure you that you’ll all do your duty. War is a bloody business, a killing business. The Nazis are the enemy. Wade into them, spill their blood or they will spill yours. Shoot them in the guts. Rip open their belly. When shells are hitting all around you and you wipe the dirt from your face and you realize that it’s not dirt, it’s the blood and gut of what was once your best friend, you’ll know what to do.

I don’t want any messages saying 'I’m holding my position.’ We’re not holding a goddamned thing. We’re advancing constantly and we’re not interested in holding anything except the enemy’s balls. We’re going to hold him by his balls and we’re going to kick him in the ass; twist his balls and kick the living shit out of him all the time. Our plan of operation is to advance and keep on advancing. We’re going to go through the enemy like shit through a tinhorn.

There will be some complaints that we’re pushing our people too hard. I don’t give a damn about such complaints. I believe that an ounce of sweat will save a gallon of blood. The harder we push, the more Germans we kill. The more Germans we kill, the fewer of our men will be killed. Pushing harder means fewer casualties. I want you all to remember that. My men don’t surrender. I don’t want to hear of any soldier under my command being captured unless he is hit. Even if you are hit, you can still fight. That’s not just bullshit either. I want men like the lieutenant in Libya who, with a Luger against his chest, swept aside the gun with his hand, jerked his helmet off with the other and busted the hell out of the Boche with the helmet. Then he picked up the gun and he killed another German. All this time the man had a bullet through his lung. That’s a man for you!

Don’t forget, you don’t know I’m here at all. No word of that fact is to be mentioned in any letters. The world is not supposed to know what the hell they did with me. I’m not supposed to be commanding this army. I’m not even supposed to be in England. Let the first bastards to find out be the goddamned Germans. Some day, I want them to rise up on their piss-soaked hind legs and howl 'Ach! It’s the goddamned Third Army and that son-of-a-bitch Patton again!’

Then there’s one thing you men will be able to say when this war is over and you get back home. Thirty years from now when you’re sitting by your fireside with your grandson on your knee and he asks, 'What did you do in the great World War Two?’ You won’t have to cough and say, 'Well, your granddaddy shoveled shit in Louisiana.’ No sir, you can look him straight in the eye and say 'Son, your granddaddy rode with the great Third Army and a son-of-a-goddamned-bitch named George Patton!’

All right, you sons of bitches. You know how I feel. I’ll be proud to lead you wonderful guys in battle anytime, anywhere. That’s all.

Echoing Souls, @like-waves-on-the-beach

Young Professor Swan leads a quiet but hectic life as the newest member of the Anthropology Department at University of Maine at Storybrooke, as well as being head curator for the University’s brand new museum. Killian Jones is a hardened detective who forms one half of the best homicide team in the small city of Storybrooke. When tragedy strikes, Emma and Killian find themselves thrust together, each feeling an inexplicable and frustrating attraction to the other. As the young couple works to find answers to the mystery that will take them on a journey together, they will also explore their undeniable chemistry and connection. Sometimes the universe has plans wherein the past, present, and future converge to assure that destiny is reached in every life.

Nuuk, @wellhellotragic

When a chance encounter with a blue-eyed mystery man on an ill-fated flight turns Emma Nolan’s life upside down, she has a choice to make: Continue with her arranged marriage to Senator Gold’s son to save her parent’s company, or turn her back on everything she’s ever worked towards for a chance at happiness.

Tripping Over the Blue Line, @welllpthisishappening

It’s a transition. That’s what Emma’s calling it. She’s transitioning from one team to another, from one coast to another and she’s definitely not worried. Nope. She’s fine. Really. She’s promised Mary Margaret ten times already. So she got fired. Whatever. She’s fine, ready to settle into life with the New York Rangers. She’s got a job to do. And she doesn’t care about Killian Jones, captain of the New York Rangers. At all.

He’s done. One more season and he’s a free agent and he’s out. It’s win or nothing for Killian. He’s going to win a Stanley Cup and then he’s going to stop being the face of the franchise and he’s going to go play for some other garbage team where his name won’t be used as puns in New York Post headlines. That’s the plan. And Emma Swan, director of New York Rangers community relations isn’t going to change that. At all.

They are both horrible liars.

MissMatched.com, @lenfaz

In a world where every dating site swears by their algorithms and databases to find the most accurate match with a high percentage of compatibility, a new site is giving them all a run for their money.

Emma Swan is hired to investigate if there’s a fraud involved with the site’s claim of not using any type of statistics. That path leads her right into the hands of Missmatched.com founder, Killian Jones, who promises her that he’ll prove he’s worth his salt by finding Emma her perfect match without any data or algorithms involved.

But what will be the price for changing the past, and is it one they’re willing to pay?

Not In The Game Plan@onthecyberseas

Emma Nolan moves back home to Tampa and goes back to work for her parents, the owners of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Helping star quarterback Killian Jones lead the Buccaneers to a Super Bowl title proves to be a challenge, especially as their relationship grows on and off the field.

Part of the Narrative, @emmaswanchoosesyou

Emma Swan just wants to write the follow-up to her bestselling debut novel, that’s all. But when she gets off to a rough start with her new editor, Killian Jones, she knows it’s not going according to plan. Then, an unexpected figure from Emma’s past reappears and life begins to mirror the crime thriller she’s penning. Suspicion and secrets abound–but love might too. Writer/editor AU with a thriller twist.

Drowning is Too Late to Learn, @accio-ambition

Walk Beside Me, @beardetective

Hi. I love the fics where Louis and Harry start out hating each other and have really hot hate sex but end up falling in love along the way. Do you have some recommendations? Thanks!

- You Drive Me Round The Bend In which Louis is a spoilt rich kid who’s always on the phone while he drives and Harry is a struggling musician making his way down the mountain. It’s just a matter of time before they crash and burn.(77k)

- Three French Hems : In which Louis is a designer at Burberry and Harry spends December wearing Lanvin… and Lanvin… and Lanvin. 19k

- Reeling Through The Fall :They hate each other. Except for when they don’t.  40k.

- Up To No Good : Harry doesn’t think of himself as a womanizer, not at all. Sure, he enjoys sex, enjoys how women feel underneath him, and by some people’s standards he has sex with quite a lot of people, but that’s no reason to tell him that he can’t have a female PA anymore. It’s especially no excuse for giving him a male PA who’s possibly the most gorgeous boy in the world who won’t even let Harry look at him for too long.Sometimes Harry hates his life.   22k

- Search and Rescue Me : Louis never really paid attention to Harry until they get stuck in the locker room together. Larry High School AU (17k)

- Love Is A Rebellious Bird   : Louis is the concertmaster of the London Symphony Orchestra, Harry is the New! and Exciting! interim conductor/ex-cello prodigy who “has made Mozart cool again” according to Esquire Magazine (Louis hates him immediately, which is definitely why he internet stalked him in his dark bedroom late at night that one time), and Niall is the best.  Zayn and Liam are around too. (134k)

- Learning to breathe : He’s playing football at one of the top universities in England and he should love everything about his life right now, but instead he’s moving backwards. How does your past fit into your present? Louis is still figuring it out.  (110k) .

- Our blood is boiling : “I can’t believe you’re making me this angry when it’s almost midnight and I’m not even drunk. You know what? I could take you down right here, right now—”“You’re red.” Harry interrupts, his lips curving up into a smug grin. “Am I making you red?”Louis purses his lips and absentmindedly brings a hand up to feel his cheek. It’s definitely warm. God, how can he even come back from this? [Louis meets indie singer Harry Styles, otherwise known as the bane of his existence, at a pub.] (6.5k)

it's called football (miniminter)

prompt: (in honour of the sidemen match i thought i would try something football related.) in which y/n pesters simon with questions during a football game.

warnings: be prepared to be appalled by my ‘football’ knowledge, i am clearly an AFL fan
___________________________________________

you were an aussie girl born and bred, but you were currently midway through your exchange program in england.

months prior to this very moment, you had signed yourself up for a two year program at the university of london where you would study psychology in some of the greatest facilities.

you never expected to enrich yourself in the life of the english as much as you had, and you definitely didn’t expect to make the friends that you had. one night you had been out at a bar and came in contact with a group of well known youtubers called the sidemen along with some of their friends, and ultimately you clicked. sarah had taken a particular liking to you and vowed to take you under her wing whilst you were here in her home country.

she wasn’t the only one you grew close to, simon expressed an interest in you that was somewhat different to everyone else’s. you couldn’t quite tell if you were best friends, or something more. either way, you both took enjoyment in annoying the absolute shit out of each other.

which leads us to right now. “i just don’t get it, why can’t the ball just touch your hand accidentally?” you question to simon as he watches intently on the television set in front of him.

simon was taking a day off from editing to sit down and watch the leeds game, and had invited you around to help ‘educate’ yourself on the world of british football before the annual charity match. it was fair to say, he was beginning to regret his decision.

“i’ll explain this once more. it’s called football, if it was suppose to touch your hand - whether it be an accident, or not - it would be called handball” he replied with a slight huff.

“but soccer-”

“football,” he corrects.

“whatever it’s called, it’s still such a low scoring game! don’t you get bored? at this rate you’d be lucky to even hit the score board!” you whine, as you too regret agreeing to simon’s offer.

simon laughs, tilting his head back while he shakes his head. he too agrees that leeds would be lucky ‘to hit the scoreboard at this rate’, but he doesn’t make the effort to comment so.

you had never taken much interest in the whole soccer fiasco. back home the ‘APL’ was nothing in comparison to the likes of the 'AFL’, you had been raised to be a footy fan and that’s the way it always would be.

“i think it’s a bit unfair that you don’t get a point or something for hitting the crossbar or even the post” you comment after watching it be hit for what seems like the 5th time.

“y/n, it’s called a goal. you don’t get points” he explains whilst rolling his eyes. it’s clear by now that simon is getting a little bit agitated with all the questions.

“well i think it’s silly, in our ends if you hit the post you get a point, if it goes through you get a goal earning you 6 points. it’s like a reward either way” you remark, leaning back into the sofa.

“look, miss 'i own a kangaroo,’ that’s not how it works around here-” simon says before he cuts his sentence short, standing up from his seat and begin yelling excessively at the ref’s decision.

after some time he finally accepts that the decision is final and returns to the sofa next to you. you roll your eyes at his overdramatic behaviour before speaking again. “for your information i do not, and never have owned a kangaroo. australia isn’t as backwards as you claim it is.”

“yeah, yeah” he waves his hand at you to be quiet as his eyes skim over the screen, reading the stats displayed on the side.

you tried your very best to focus, but you couldn’t help but get bored. it was a 0-0 game after all. at this point in a game of footy there would have been about 7 or 8 goals scored by now.

you knew simon was trying to concentrate, but your need to ask a question was strong, no matter how hard you tried to suppress it.

“i don’t understand how you can be offside if there is no line there to tell you…” you wonder out loud.

simon was losing his patience. he was hoping you would just sit there quietly even if he would never dare to say so. he runs a hand through his hair simply stating, “the halfway line is your indication of being off side. if you are in your attacking half and you receive the ball with no defending player in front you are off side.”

“yeah but i still don’t-”

“y/n, please,” his voice, begging. “can we discuss this at half time? i’ll explain all the questions you have after the game.”

you nod in response not wanting to utter another word to anger simon further.

you sit in silence. occasionally fidgeting with the strings of the sidemen hoodie you were wearing every time the urge to comment, question or insult simon’s favourite sport cropped up.

finally half time arrived, taking its sweet ass time to do so.

“so?” simon asks in a voice kinder than the last time he spoke. “any dire questions you got before second half?”

you take a moment to think, you didn’t really pay attention past the point of simon getting frustrated at you. “no i don’t think so” you tell him shaking your head.

“oh?” he sounds surprised.

“i actually think i might go find vik and see if he wanted to go out somewhere,” you say moving from the couch.

“wait!” he grabs your wrist stopping you from going any further. “you don’t have to go, i’m sorry for snapping at you” he says sincerely.

“no, that’s okay. i was being annoying asking all those questions while you were just trying to enjoy your day off. i’m not mad i promise” you smile back at him to show you’re being genuine. “i’d rather you watch your game in peace, than me having to watch it all.”

he pulls you back towards his lap, with a grin plastered onto his face from your honesty. “i know, but that was no reason for me to get frustrated at you. i did invite you over to watch the game.”

“and this is me uninviting myself and salvaging the rest of my afternoon by asking vik to come get some ice cream with me,” you reply trying to escape his tight grip.

“how about this,” he responds putting an ultimatum in place. “you go hang out with vik upstairs until the game ends, and then when it’s over i’ll take you out for a nice dinner somewhere?”

“is this the simon minter, asking me out on a date? just so he can get rid of me?” you mock being appalled.

“i’m not trying to get rid of you, i was trying to save you of some boredom. i was planning on asking you out either way,” he adds with a wink.

shaking his hand, you agree; “you have yourself a deal minter.”

you remove yourself from his lap, unable to stop the smile spreading from your face at the very thought of yours and simon’s first date.

you make your way over to the bottom of the stairs just as the half time break comes to an end. “oh and simon, i still think you should get a point for hitting the crossbar.”

“how’s about i take you out one day and teach you how to play. you can give yourself as many points as you like?”

you laugh and shrug your shoulders, it’s not a bad idea.

“depends if i get fouled for being offside of that stupid fake line or not first!”

he laughs as well, “that’s cute, that you think you could get it past me in the first place for it to be in your attacking half!”

it can’t even be denied, because he’s right. but you fake being hurt anyways.

“i’m going to go spend time with someone who appreciates me,” you joke, making your way up the stairs.

“whatever you say. be ready in an hour’s time to leave!” he calls after you his laugh following you up the stairs.

you smile to yourself, knowing you’re no where ready to return home in a year’s time.

Caspian x Reader - Won’t Miss This Chance

Request: Caspian x reader where they meet when she & the Pevensies return and he falls in love with her. She has to go back to our world, but comes back with Lucy and Ed on the Dawn Treader. He finally confesses his feelings, she stays and they get married :)

Caspian x Reader - Won’t Miss This Chance
Setting: PC then VDT
Contains: Variations of PC and VDT so it doesn’t follow the movie exactly. That way, it doesn’t end up being like those fanfictions where the main character (or the reader in this case) takes the best lines. Cus personally, those ff got super boring whenever I read them.
Word Count: 1782

Enjoy! I got sorta lazy/didn’t know how to write the ending so I hope you guys are fine with all of this.

Your name: submit What is this?

“Is this… Narnia?” (Y/n) asked as she looked at her surroundings on the beach. The Pevensies stopped splashing water around and looked at their friend who entered Narnia for the first time. Susan had told her of the stories and the others told theirs. (Y/n) was honored that they had picked her to tell the stories. Lucky them, she believed it. Of course, (Y/n) will always believe Susan, she was her best friend after all.

“It should be,” Peter replied. (Y/n) slowly started to grin then she jumped into the water with the Pevensies.

“This is great! I never thought I would make it to Narnia with you guys,” (Y/n) started to splash her friends.

“Well, if that’s the case that means Aslan needs us here,” Lucy told her. (Y/n) looked at her. She heard all about Aslan and each and every time they mentioned him all her worries disappeared. She felt like how she did when she found out she was going to study abroad at England. But ten times better.

“But why?” Edmund asked.

“I think we’ll found out sooner or later, look.” Susan pointed up on top of the hill where ruins were.

“Were there ruins in Narnia?” Edmund looked at his siblings. They all exchanged a look and then got out of the water to go explore and discover where they were in Narnia.

“I am Prince Caspian the Tenth,” the long haired boy spoke out proudly. “Who are you?”

“Peter, High King Peter of Narnia,” Peter answered. Caspian was taken aback. The horn had called the Kings and Queens of Old. He looked at them all but grew confused when he saw someone he didn’t recognize from the stories. Yet, at that moment he grew attracted to her.

“But who are you? I only remember two Kings and two Queens,” Caspian motioned towards (Y/n). He would have remembered someone as beautiful as her in the stories.

“(Y/n). (Y/n) (L/n) friend of the Kings and Queens,” (Y/n) answered. Caspian was completely transfixed by her voice. It was loud yet graceful. Commanding yet gentle. Almost everything about her was the definition of beauty. He just couldn’t wait to get to know her.

Time seems to go by really fast when you’re having fun. And that’s what (Y/n) was having, fun! With the Narnian air working on her the moment she entered Narnia, a lot like the Pevensies, she grew much braver, stronger, and skillful in fighting. Which certainly caught the eyes of a certain Prince.

But of course, all good things must come to an end and that was what happened, an end.

“I’m afraid this is where we leave,” Peter said to all of us. He looked at the tree that teleported three people not that long ago then back at us. “Back to England.”

“What?” (Y/n) was barely able to breath out. “But, the stories you told me. Can’t we stay a bit longer?” Her eyes started to water a bit.

“Would we ever come back?” Lucy asked.

“You guys are,” Peter motioned to (Y/n), Lucy, and Edmund.

“We’re not,” Susan finished. She had the saddest smile on her face. Right when she got used to living in Narnia once more, it got snatched away.

“But, I’m the same age as you Susan, why do I get to come back?” (Y/n) questioned. Aslan, who was sitting down and facing them, spoke up.

“It is because you still have a lot to learn, they have learned what they can here in Narnia. Now it’s time they learn things in your world.” (Y/n) nodded in understanding. It was in that moment when they all went to say their goodbyes. (Y/n) walked up to Caspian and they stood in front of each other before enveloping each other in a hug.

The five started to walk towards the tree and Caspian finally mustered up all the courage he could gather.

“Wait- (Y/n)!” He tried to reach out towards (Y/n) but it was too late. They were long gone.

Aslan walked up beside Caspian and looked up at him, “Don’t fret, dear one. You will see her again.” A lonely tear ran down Caspian’s face before he quickly wiped it away.

Three years passed in Narnia. Only one had passed for (Y/n). Edmund and Lucy were at their cousin’s house for the summer in Cambridge. (Y/n) lived with her family. Though, one day (Y/n)’s family decided to pop into Cambridge for some family matters. (Y/n) took this chance to go visit Edmund and Lucy.

“Uncle Harold, I bought all of what we could but they didn’t have carrots again,” Lucy carried the bag into the house with Edmund and (Y/n) following from behind. “I also hope you don’t mind that a friend of ours can come over for a bit.” (Y/n) stood there awkwardly staring at the man who was reading a newspaper but didn’t pay any attention towards the three kids. Edmund, who disliked his cousin, Eustace, and Aunt and Uncle strongly, stuck out his tongue at him.

“Father, Edmund’s making faces at you!” A voice from the stairs yelled. (Y/n) spun around and before she knew it, Edmund chased the poor kid. (Y/n) stared at Eustace then looked back at Lucy.

“I’m sorry,” Lucy said then she went off to start putting the groceries away. “You can stay in my room a bit, up the stairs and the third door on the right.”

“Thanks, Lu,” (Y/n) went up the stairs and then walked into Lu’s room. She saw a painting hanging on the wall and she slowly walked up towards it.

“It’s very Narnian looking isn’t it?” (Y/n) jumped but realized it was just Edmund.

“Yes… I miss it a lot,” (Y/n) reached out towards the painting and stroked the ship that was drawn on it.

“Edmund, (Y/n)! We got a letter from Susan!” Lucy ran into the room and then sat on her bed. Edmund sat down next to it. The two Pevensies continued to read it but (Y/n) continued to stare at the picture thinking about Caspian.

“When do you think we’ll get back?” (Y/n) turned around to face her friends. “To Narnia, I mean.”

“There was once three kids who wasted their time believing in old Narnia nursery rhymes,” Eustace came in from the door. (Y/n) ended up glaring at him, she barely knew him for an hour and she disliked him already.

“Please let me hit him,” Edmund took a step towards Eustace but Lucy held him back. Eustace, who was obviously scared, tried to seem tough but had taken a step back. Then when he realized Lucy wouldn’t let Edmund hit him he walked towards the painting, lightly shoving (Y/n).

“What’s so fascinating about this painting anyways? It’s hideous,” Eustace stared at the painting then looked back at the three.

“If you dislike it so much, why don’t you get out of here,” Edmund spat back.

“It’s my house, I do as I please,” Eustace said proudly. (Y/n) and Lucy were staring at the picture and they both started to notice that the water is moving. They looked at each other.

“I-It’s moving!” They both said at the same time. The two tried to get Edmund’s attention but he spent his time going on about how he licked Eustace’s candy. Then finally when the two noticed what was going on, Eustace tried to smash the painting.

“Aslan is that your country?” Reepicheep asked. Lucy, Edmund, Eustace, Caspian, Aslan, Reepicheep, and last of all (Y/n) stared into the wave that seemed to stay still.

“Yes, it is,” Aslan answered.

“Well, if that’s the case,” Reep took out his sword and planted it into the ground, “if you may, I’ll lay down my sword and ask if I can enter into your country. It had been my dream to enter your country and see it with my own eyes.” Aslan chuckled and smiled.

“My country was made for noble hearts like yours,” Aslan looked back towards his country and a small boat made for someone the size of Reep sat at the shore. Reepicheep looked up at the magnificent Lion and then back at his dear friends.

“Your majesty,” Reepicheep bowed towards Lucy. She walked forward and knelt down onto her knees.

“May I?” (Y/n) smiled. Lucy was asking for a hug, something she always wanted to do since she met Reep.

“I-I suppose. Just this once-oof!” Lucy already bent down to hug him and Reepicheep melted into it. Reep went off to say his goodbyes to Eustace and then went off into Aslan’s Country.

“It’s time to go home, isn’t it?” Lucy sniffled. “This is our last time here, too.”

Aslan looked at Lucy sadly and nodded, “By knowing me a little bit here, I hope you learn me a bit more in your world.”

“Then you’ll come visit us, won’t you?” Lucy asked.

“I’ll be watching over you, always,” Aslan replied. Lucy gave Aslan a hug.

“It’s time to go Lu,” Edmund tugged on Lucy’s sleeve. Eustace walked up to Aslan and the same with (Y/n).

“What of me?” Eustace questioned.

“Narnia may have need of you yet,” Aslan answered. “And you, (Y/n), must stay. Caspian?” Aslan looked over at Caspian and he immediately walked over towards (Y/n).

“I’m not going to miss my chance like I did last time, stay here with me in Narnia and be my queen,” Caspian almost demanded. (Y/n) had tears start to run down her face and she looked over at her friends. They smiled but their eyes showed sadness. They nodded, telling her to stay.

“Yes, I-I’ll stay with you,” Caspian immediately kissed her there and then. When they broke apart they all said their goodbyes towards each other.

“Tell Susan and Peter goodbye for me. And that I love all of you,” (Y/n) was sobbing as she hugged Lucy, Edmund, and Eustace in one group hug.

“We will,” Lucy too was also crying. They walked into the wave and it closed.

“Aslan, how will my family react?” (Y/n) still looked over at the wave that took her friends back to England.

“For now, they won’t remember you.” (Y/n) nodded then looked up at Caspian. “It’s time to head back now.”

(Y/n) grabbed Caspian’s hand and they went back onto the boat. Aslan gave them a current to go back towards the Dawn Treader. When they looked back, he was gone.

Alexander Hamilton to John Laurens, April 1779: Close Reading and Analysis

After posting the original and edited versions of this letter, I wanted to do a thorough analysis of it to cover the many innuendos and implications contained within.  Again, this reading is my own (though it has been driven by suggestions from others) and is a subjective interpretation of the data we have.  I encourage you to read the letter for yourself to draw your own conclusions and add to the discussion.

I shall only tell you that ’till you bade us Adieu, I hardly knew the value you had taught my heart to set upon you. Indeed, my friend, it was not well done. You know the opinion I entertain of mankind, and how much it is my desire to preserve myself free from particular attachments, and to keep my happiness independent on the caprice of others. You should not have taken advantage of my sensibility to steal into my affections without my consent. But as you have done it and as we are generally indulgent to those we love, I shall not scruple to pardon the fraud you have committed, on condition that for my sake, if not for your own, you will always continue to merit the partiality, which you have so artfully instilled into me.
I have received your two letters one from Philadelphia the other from Chester. I am pleased with your success, so far, and I hope the favourable omens, that precede your application to the Assembly may have as favourable an issue, provided the situation of affairs should require it which I fear will be the case. But both for your country’s sake and for my own I wish the enemy may be gone from Georgia before you arrive and that you may be obliged to return and share the fortunes of your old friends. In respect to the Commission, which you received from Congress, all the world must think your conduct perfectly right. Indeed your ideas upon this occasion seem not to have their wonted accuracy; and you have had scruples, in a great measure, without foundation. By your appointment as Aide De Camp to the Commander in Chief, you had as much the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, as any officer in the line your receiving a commission as Lieutenant Colonel from the date of that appointment, does not in the least injure or interfere with one of them; unless by virtue of it you are introduced into a particular regiment in violation of the right of succession; which is not the case at present neither is it a necessary consequence. As you were going to command a batalion, it was proper you should have a commission; and if this commission had been dated posterior to your appointment as Aide De Camp, I should have considered it as derogatory to your former rank, to mine, and to that of the whole corps. The only thing I see wrong in the affair is this—Congress by their conduct, both on the former and present occasion, appear to have intended to confer a privilege, an honor, a mark of distinction, a something upon you; which they withold from other Gentlemen in the family. This carries with it an air of preference, which, though we can all truly say, we love your character, and admire your military merit, cannot fail to give some of us uneasy sensations. But in this, my Dear J I wish you to understand me well. The blame, if there is any, falls wholly upon Congress. I repeat it, your conduct has been perfectly right and even laudable; you rejected the offer when you ought to have rejected it; and you accepted it when you ought to have accepted it; and let me add with a degree of overscrupulous delicacy. It was necessary to your project; your project was the public good; and I should have done the same. In hesitating, you have refined upon the refinements of generosity.
There is a total stagnation of news here, political and military. Gates has refused the Indian command Sullivan is come to take it. The former has lately given a fresh proof of his impudence, his folly and his rascality ’Tis no great matter; but a peculiarity in the case prevents my saying what.
I anticipate by sympathy the pleasure you must feel from the sweet converse of your dearer self in the inclosed letters. I hope they may be recent. They were brought out of New York by General Thompson delivered to him there by a Mrs. Moore not long from England, soi-disante parente de Madame votre épouse. She speaks of a daughter of yours, well when she left England, perhaps ⟨– – –⟩.
And Now my Dear as we are upon the subject of wife, I empower and command you to get me one in Carolina. Such a wife as I want will, I know, be difficult to be found, but if you succeed, it will be the stronger proof of your zeal and dexterity. Take her description—She must be young, handsome (I lay most stress upon a good shape) sensible (a little learning will do), well bred (but she must have an aversion to the word ton) chaste and tender (I am an enthusiast in my notions of fidelity and fondness) of some good nature, a great deal of generosity (she must neither love money nor scolding, for I dislike equally a termagent and an œconomist). In politics, I am indifferent what side she may be of; I think I have arguments that will easily convert her to mine. As to religion a moderate stock will satisfy me. She must believe in god and hate a saint. But as to fortune, the larger stock of that the better. You know my temper and circumstances and will therefore pay special attention to this article in the treaty. Though I run no risk of going to Purgatory for my avarice; yet as money is an essential ingredient to happiness in this world—as I have not much of my own and as I am very little calculated to get more either by my address or industry; it must needs be, that my wife, if I get one, bring at least a sufficiency to administer to her own extravagancies. You will be pleased to recollect in your negotiations that I have no invincible antipathy to the maidenly beauties & that I am willing to take the trouble of them upon myself.
If you should not readily meet with a lady that you think answers my description you can only advertise in the public papers and doubt less you will hear of many competitors for most of the qualifications required, who will be glad to become candidates for such a prize as I am. To excite their emulation, it will be necessary for you to give an account of the lover—his size, make, quality of mind and body, achievements, expectations, fortune, &c. In drawing my picture, you will no doubt be civil to your friend; mind you do justice to the length of my nose and don’t forget, that I ⟨– – – – –⟩.
After reviewing what I have written, I am ready to ask myself what could have put it into my head to hazard this Jeu de follie. Do I want a wife? No—I have plagues enough without desiring to add to the number that greatest of all; and if I were silly enough to do it, I should take care how I employ a proxy. Did I mean to show my wit? If I did, I am sure I have missed my aim. Did I only intend to frisk? In this I have succeeded, but I have done more. I have gratified my feelings, by lengthening out the only kind of intercourse now in my power with my friend. Adieu
Yours.
A Hamilton

A Medical Emergency Pt.2

Howdy friends! It’s wee bairn Marlo, coming to you live from a family holiday to Montreal. So many of you asked for a second part to my prompt surrounding doctor Claire and patient Jamie, which I have since dubbed A Medical Emergency (which you can read here). And, considering how angsty the last few TSS fics have been (blame Kaitlyn and Mikayla), I figured it was time to deliver some fluff for your amusement!

As always, a major thank you to my Kilt Kult buddies and fellow TSS mods for keeping me on track and reassuring me that my writing isn’t trash. Also, I owe all of you a major shout out as well, as I would never have written this fic without your overwhelming positive response. So, thank you thank you thank you from the very bottom of my heart!

Enjoy!

It was two weeks before Claire could stomach facing Jamie again. The surgery had been a success, and Claire had meticulously mended the shattered bones of Jamie’s hand. She hadn’t counted on the infection that set in, keeping him bedridden and feverish for nearly a week. Claire couldn’t help but feel responsible.

“It happens all the time LJ. I wouldn’t worry about it.” said Joe Abernathy, Claire’s fellow doctor and hospital confidante. She knew that there was nothing she could have done, that infections happen and it was out of her control, but the thought of seeing Jamie in more pain, with even the smallest chance of it being by her hand, was too much to bear. She didn’t know what is was about this Scot: his bull-headedness, the way his nose crinkled when he smiled at her as she was wheeling him into surgery, or how peaceful and innocent he looked under anesthesia, the softness of his face making him look like a child. Whatever it was, Claire found herself experiencing feelings she had never felt before, and it left her simultaneously terrified and exhilarated.

It was a Tuesday afternoon, and Claire had just finished a run of the mill appendectomy. Granted with a brief reprieve, she quickly cleaned herself off before heading to the on-call room, eager to take a quick rest before her pager summoned her again. Unfortunately, she found herself having to cross through the recovery wing, where Jamie lay behind the closed door of room 263. Claire had continued to follow his case, coercing nurses into providing valuable intel on his condition and moral.

“Yes, he is eating.”

“No. He doesn’t have a fever.”

“If you’re so interested Doctor, why don’t you go ask him yourself?”

Still, Claire refused to step foot in that room. The nagging guilt in her stomach surrounding his prolonged hospitalization, coupled with the more puzzling stirrings deep in the pit of her stomach, wouldn’t allow her to walk down the white tile hall leading up to his room. Unfortunately, she currently had no other option.

i love you (and i like you)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, @ive-always-been-a-pirate!!! I hope you have an absolutely fantastic, amazing day, because you are one of the sweetest peeps out there and deserve it. Here’s a quick little Parks & Rec AU to celebrate!! (because the only thing possibly more perfect than CS is Ben & Leslie) HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY!

Nothing infuriated Emma Swan more than Killian Jones.

She hated him the minute he waltzed into her department, announcing that Storybrooke was basically bankrupt and that he and his friend were there to make sure that didn’t happen. Which, in hindsight, sounds like a good thing, but not when doing so meant slashing half of the parks department’s budget. As Director of said department, how could she be okay with that?

“It’s not just us, Emma, it’s everyone,” her deputy, David, reminded her.

She groaned in response.

“Would you rather the city went broke?”

“Yes.”

She hated that sinful British accent of his, and the way his dark hair sometimes fell in his blue eyes, and how that scruff-covered jaw was just begging for someone to run a thumb across it. Those were the things she noticed when he took her out for a drink in an attempt to assuage her regarding the coming changes.

And that he was annoyingly charming, and funny, and flirtatious, and unfortunately, he too wanted to do the most good for the most people.

“Why is it you went into parks, Swan? Someone as fierce as you seems more fit for politics.”

She snorted, then shrugged. “I mean, I’ve thought about it. Running for office. I’d love to. But then I had my son, and I really wanted to make sure that he always had a safe place to play and have adventures. So this was kind of logical.”

He took a sip of his rum, swallowed, then looked up at her. “No, that’s not all, is it?”

“Beg your pardon?”

(This was when she learned she hated how well he could read her.)

Goodbye, Eleanor & Where is Madi? Black Sails Episode Six

John Steinberg, the co-creator for Black Sails, stated before season four started that Madi and Eleanor’s stories were parallel arcs. The first five episodes laid the foundation for that, but it wasn’t until Episode six that we even saw the two former friends/sisters onscreen together to absorb what the true meaning of that statement meant.

Madi and Eleanor started off the episode trading barbs at the beach while Flint filled Jack in on what the hell was going on. Eleanor, being typical Eleanor, tried to get into Madi’s head

~ You trust him? Flint? You cast your lost with him. Before this war begin. Before everyone’s roles changed. Your father mistrusted Flint as much as anyone in Nassau did. I assume you were in some contact with him all that time. I’m surprised  that his feelings didn’t influence you~ Eleanor Rogers

Madi, being typical Madi, didn’t let Eleanor’s attempts at “getting to her” go unanswered. In much the same way that she had with Silver and Flint in prior  conversations, she turned Eleanor’s words back on her.

~ You were my sister. There is very little I remember from when I was young, but I remember this. You were older. You were beautiful. I revered you. When you were told that my mother and I were dead, I have to believe that it affected you. You had just lost your mother. But if things were as I remembered, my mother and I were your family too. And yet for all the years thereafter that my father cared for you, counseled you, labored for you he never told you that I was alive. It would have been so easy to lessen your suffering by divulging the secret and yet he never did. Have you yet asked yourself why that is? My father didn’t mistrust Flint. My father mistrusted all of you. ~ Queen Madi Scott

What a way to reintroduce two former childhood friends who were once so close, but yet are now on completely opposite sides of this civil war. How hard it must be to stare into the face of the “enemy” who is someone that you once loved as a sister.

Later on in the episode, as Flint, Eleanor, Madi and their entourage are making their way back to Nassau, they encounter Spanish soldiers and realize that shit has hit the fan. Flint leads them to a safe haven, which wait for it…..  is Miranda’s house. That’s how I knew someone was going to die. Miranda’s house is ceremoniously the “house of hope and pain”.

While Flint and the men are chasing down Spanish soldiers, Madi and Eleanor are holed up in the “house of hope and pain” being guarded by one of Madi’s Queens Guard and one of Roger’s soldiers. As Madi sits reading one of Flint’s books, Eleanor stands at the window clearly worried about the war going on outside. She takes the moment to start over……

~ It did affect me. When Mr. Scott. When your father told me that you and your mother had died, it affected me a great deal. It must have been hard to live hidden away for so long. ~ Eleanor

~ It was hard to be away from him. The rest of it. My mother did the best she could with the rest of it~ Madi

~ She must have did well. I find myself thinking about it. Walking away from Nassau, England, Civilization. One can be happy that way can’t they? A life of isolation, uncertainty as long as it is lived with someone you love, who loves you back? It is possible isn’t it? ~ Eleanor

~ It is. ~ Madi

Remember those parallels that Steinberg talked about? Those last couple of questions that Eleanor asked Madi displayed them beautifully. Here you have two women that have both fell in love. Eleanor with the Governor of Nassau and Madi with the Pirate King. While, Woodes Rogers has started this massacre by telling the Spanish general “I simply ask that you burn it all to the ground.“  Silver is telling Ruth at the Underhill Plantation that he understands the slaves anger and ” that’s why I came here to make it right.“

Look at those parallels… While Eleanor is looking out that window, trying to convince herself that Woodes didn’t start this war, Madi is sitting at that table reading, knowing that John is doing the right thing.

Remember, John discussed his plan with Madi or more to the point… this was their plan. They conceived it together as true partners. Eleanor on the other hand, came up with a plan to save herself, her husband and Nassau. Yet it wasn’t their plan. I would go so far as to say, the two of them have never had a plan. It has always been Woode’s agenda with Eleanor trying to love and support him in spite of it.

It was such a special moment between sisters. With the younger sister offering some solace and hope to the older, but remember this is the "house of hope and pain” so that moment of peace couldn’t last forever. Unbeknownst to Madi and Eleanor, one of the Spanish soldiers isn’t dead and he’s killed the guards and made his way into the house. Both Eleanor and Madi try to fight him off, but Madi is knocked out leaving Eleanor to try and save both of them. She fights fiercely and eventually sets the bastard on fire and the villa, as well. Yet injured, she isn’t strong enough to pull Madi from the burning house. Flint later returns to find a dying Eleanor in the front yard and the villa engulfed in flames. Eleanor’s final words are “I tried to save her.”

Damnit, I wasn’t ready for this fucked up outcome. I felt like Flint staring up at those flames. This is just horrifying. Eleanor and her child are dead because her husband refused to lose. Innocent people are being killed in the streets of Nassau because her husband refused to lose and now Queen Madi is presumed dead because this foine motherfucker refused to lose. Why didn’t Luke Roberts just continue to guard Jon Snow’s mama on GOT? He was not needed here. I am not feeling any of this. And to make matters worse, now Flint has to go tell his best friend, that his “tether” is dead. Lord be a prayer circle around Captain Ginger. Long John already warned him.

So the moment we’ve been waiting for happens… Flint along with Obi and a few soldiers make it to the Underhill Plantation. Silver is all feeling himself because he and badass Julius, the Leader of the Revolting Slaves, have fucked up the Spanish. He’s feeling good and then realizes his Queen is missing

~ Where is Madi? ~ Long John Silver

Flint is speechless. He doesn’t say a word. He doesn’t have too. Que, Silver collapsing like the broken man that he is. Remember, episode five when he looked devastated at even the thought of Madi’s demise? Well, this ain’t a drill folks and John can’t even speak because the grief is too strong. He eventually musters up the strength to say “it’s over”. Meaning, my love is dead, so fuck all ya’ll. Silver the con artist, the thief, the consummate survivor is shattered and has totally given up. Eventually, after everyone makes it back to the Walrus, Flint apologizes and Silver tells him it isn’t his fault. Well, damn! I didn’t see that coming. Now let’s see if the Queen Mother will be quite as forgiving. Somehow, I doubt it.

So the two sisters with the parallel stories “ died” together. Eleanor died being reassured by Flint (lied to) that her husband loved her and didn’t cause her death. Madi, however, was secure in the knowledge that she was John’s world.

While Eleanor and Madi were at Miranda’s villa, Eleanor asked Madi if one could be happy with a life of isolation with the one you love, Madi responded with a smile, “yes”. In that moment, I think that Madi realized that her love for Silver really is enough. She looked at her “sister” who was standing their struggling to have faith in her man and she recognized that she didn’t share those doubts. If they had to walk away from this war, a life with John in isolation or in a tavern in Bristol, would simply “be enough”. Let’s just hope she lives to tell him that.

And yes, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. That very much looks like Queen Madi Scott in chains. They got the Queen in chains ya’ll. Madi Scott of The Maroons. First of her Name, the Unbothered, Queen of the Freed Slaves, Ruler of the People of the Sun, Breaker of Chains and Love of the Pirate King. Yes, that Queen! To quote the devil himself Woode Rogers, Long John Silver is about to burn this shit to the ground ya’ll.

Speaking of parallels…. Five episodes ago, John Silver went into the sea, cut off his chains (ropes), saved himself and was reborn as Long John Silver. Now we find his Queen in the exact same situation. After her rebirth, who will she be?

R.I.P. Eleanor . May your next life be better than this one.

ur blog title's hilarious considering how obviously u're frothing at the mouth while trying to sound intellectual and cool; sadly 4 u, cheap (btw,do u steal all ur arguments from opposing sides, then hit 'project'? the nh fandom came up with 'clique' and 'Sak the self-insert' YEARS ago, lmao),vulgar trash still smells and looks the part no matter how hard u try to mask it-haven't u learned that from looking in th mirror? u rly are a great reflection of ur toxic, abusive otp. stay pathetic, bye : )

Can a mother fucker learn how to type properly and use the space bar when they decide to bring their nasty unwashed ass into my asks? My blog title is a reference to harry styles dumbass. I’m not trying to sound like anything but if you caught cool and intellectual then thanks im almost flattered since I still don’t want to hear it from a person who can’t read a children’s comic properly. Good for you, England, you once had the world until people became woke. Maybe the better side just took over, it’s called development, not that I expect a naruhina to know anything about it. Maybe they are fandom terms that my ass has been seeing in the 1d fandom since 2011 because bitch you ain’t shit, your boring ass, makes no sense otp should tell you that already. I am a great reflection. tbh I like how I look and that’s not a sin is it, I don’t expect insecure self inserters who felt the need to send this message to feel the same however.

My otp? you mean this?

Thanks man!

anyways guys, don’t you love this scene

Look at her go wow she is OUT there. My favourite naruhina moment is when naruto did not ask her if she was okay and ignored her confession for years.

I also love how she was stuck here for 7+ years

and is still stuck here years into her marriage

before insulting me over your shitty otp and crappy fav, try to remember they both ain’t shit.

That being said, here is the narusaku hug scene, naruto’s first ever hug.

And, here is a page from the databook to get on your tit
