i am emma watson

I admire your blog a lot and since I am only now starting to read the books and just joined the fandom, can I ask why you don't like Emma Watson? I am just curious because growing up, the movies were all I had. It's fine if you don't want to answer, I was just curious. Thank you!

i am very sorry if you took offense to my salt, friend! i really never wanted to make anyone feel uncomfortable or upset or make you feel like something you enjoyed was wrong!

i will explain a bit more about my issues with the movies. because, as i see it, a lot of the problems stem from the portrayal of hermione and emma ( again, as i understand ) played an influential part in shaving off some of the traits i love about her.

there have been a lot of great posts on the subject that i will happily link once i locate them but basically the problem boils down to this - in trying to make hermione a Strong Female the movies robbed her of every trait that made her an interesting character. taking away the negative traits, the weak moments of a person doesn’t manage to make them strong, it ends up dehumanizing them. it especially worked against a major point that i always loved about the dynamic between the trio which is that they NEED each other. they work well as a team because, together, they balance each other out. hermione was given harry’s ability to think quickly, ron’s - well basically his everything. it didn’t leave them with much to be interesting characters on their own.

it’s this idea that she needed to be free of her emotional outbursts, her hyper-logical thinking, and her lack of social grace in order to be strong that i found really irritating. they turned her into supergirl and didn’t realize that all she ever needed to be was hermione granger to be cool as fuck.

Disney’s Beauty and the beast cast Is Gaston a villain or misunderstood?

I see him as the biggest villainous threat in any of the Disney films. He has no special powers. He’s not Jafar, or Ursula, or Maleficent. He’s a human being! He’s an arrogant, narcissistic, bigoted, chauvinistic, self-absorbed man who, once he’s told no, is driven by jealousy and revenge to fuel the fear of quite an idiotic group of villagers to go kill something they’ve never seen before. I mean, it resonates massively to what’s happening in the political climate throughout the world now. Luke Evans

What he says: I’m fine.

What he means:
I was the one who had it all
I was the master of my fate
I never needed anybody in my life
I learned the truth too late

I’ll never shake away the pain
I close my eyes but she’s still there
I let her steal into my melancholy heart
It’s more than I can bear

Now I know she’ll never leave me
Even as she runs away
She will still torment me, calm me, hurt me
Move me, come what may

Wasting in my lonely tower
Waiting by an open door
I’ll fool myself she’ll walk right in
And be with me for evermore

I rage against the trials of love
I curse the fading of the light
Though she’s already flown so far beyond my reach
She’s never out of sight

Now I know she’ll never leave me
Even as she fades from view
She will still inpire me, be a part of
Everything I do

Wasting in my lonely tower
Waiting by an open door
I’ll fool myself she’ll walk right in
And as the long, long nights begin
I’ll think of all that might have been
Waiting here for evermore!

When I go see Beauty and the Beast today...
  • Me: (holing my ticket outside the theater) I want adventure in the great wide somewhere...
  • 6 year old behind me: Excuse me.
  • Me: (more dramatic)I want it more than I can tell!
  • 6 year old: Lady come on, could you move?
  • Me: And for once it might be grand, to have someone understand....
  • 6 year old now pushing by: Freak
and to everyone bitching about belle’s yellow gown:

i get it. i do. but in the words of my father (who was crying like a baby during most of the film): “people who say these things are just looking for something to pick on. there was probably not one person in that theater that could care less about what was wrong with it. they would have all said it was beautiful, and it was.”

  • What she says: I'm fine
  • What she means: I cannot believe the song Evermore (gracing the public's ears for the first in the year of our Lord 2017) even exists. You take a beloved Disney classic like Beauty and the Beast (which was the first animated film to ever be nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars) and attempted a live action, CGI packed (but amazingly well done), musical and not only make it gorgeous and aesthetically pleasing to the eye, stay true to the beloved story while still adding new elements to it, but also giving the other main character a NEW solo song and make it instantly (in my humble opinion) the most favored song on a soundtrack that's already beloved by millions (a majority millennials mind you) perfectly crafting it to fit the amazing Dan tenor looking but is actually a bass Stevens who is truly singing his heart out about losing the only person who's ever really been there for him with such passion that is brought tears to my eyes and oh wOW I👏🏼am👏🏼so👏🏼blessed👏🏼

The Prince and Me!Belle x Adam AU

Crown Prince Adam of Villeneuve, a small country in Western Europe, is known more as a playboy than a competent ruler. He convinces his parents to send him to an American College, to, in his words, experience more of the world. His real goal is to “experience” as many American girls as possible before coming home. So, paired with his butler Lumiere, he travels to attend College as just “Adam,” with out anyone knowing he is a prince. While there he meets Belle, a dedicated Engineering student who spends all of her time on her work. Belle and Adam are made lab partners in their shared Chemistry class and immediately find themselves arguing. When Adam’s parents cut him off after he wastes most of his money, he’s forced to get a job bussing tables at the same restaurant as Belle, and the two learn to tolerate each other. While he may not be the best chemistry student, he does know Shakespeare, which comes in handy for Belles required English course. As the two grow closer, they spend Holidays together, help each other study, and Belle teaches Adam how to do average things like laundry. Things seem to be looking up for the pair, until the two are caught making out in the library by paparazzi and Belle learns Adam’s true identity. She’s stuck with a choice. Follow him to Villeneuve and become his wife for the rest of her life, or live out her goal of becoming an engineer.

Why has the word become such an uncomfortable one? I am from Britain, and I think it is right I am paid the same as my male counterparts. I think it is right that I should be able to make decisions about my own body. I think it is right that women be involved on my behalf in the policies and decisions that will affect my life. I think it is right that socially, I am afforded the same respect as men.
