Don’t Stop Us Now

@softkent ‘s 14 Days of Love fic-a-thon, day 6: ruined surprises!

It all started because Katya decided to have mercy on Eric and let him take morning classes this semester. WGSS120 was an amazing class, Professor Atley had the coolest stories about how postwar industrialization led to compulsive female domesticity, and his seatmate wasn’t the worst thing to see at 9:30 AM every Tuesday and Thursday. He would have almost been dreamy if he had the slightest knack for small talk. As it was, Eric didn’t even have a name to go on, just intent blue eyes and an ass that even the baggiest of shorts couldn’t mask.

One day, Eric decided to drop a hospitality bomb on the guy and see if he could coax a response out of him. They were both consistently early to class, so Eric budgeted ten minutes for a brief chat before class started and turned to Cute Guy with a winning smile on his face.

“So how about that reading, huh? I thought it was fascinating how cake mix became a prestige thing- everyone in my family bakes, and I don’t think we’ve used a box mix in forty years.”

“Yeah,” the guy said, “I think it had something to do with the scientific advancements they made in food preservation for the troops. Shelf stabilization wouldn’t have been nearly as achievable in earlier years.”

Miraculously, once you got onto a clear subject, Cute Guy was actually a decent conversationalist. Eric found himself losing track of time as they dissected last night’s chapters of Marling.

“And the American National Exhibition anecdote!” he giggled. “Who can even tell the difference between Russian and American Coke?”

“I bet it’s easier with all of the Soviet Union breathing down your back. ‘Da, cola of Mother Russia is vkusno!’”

“Nice accent,” Eric told Cute Guy.

“Really? Thanks, I’ll have to tell Geno. He’s always knocking my Russian. He’s, uh, a friend of my dad’s, and we both play hockey.”

“So that’s what your weird doodles are? Hockey plays?”

“Yeah, I’m captain of the hockey team here. We’re not half bad, if I say so myself.”

“Wow,” Eric enthused, “you must be a pretty good skater, then.”

“Yeah, I guess. I could teach you sometime, if you want. I’m Jack, by the way,’ Cute Guy said.

Hey there! Been a long time ArtRage user that only recently switched to Medibang (thanks to my friends here recommending it,) and already I am loving the program! I just have one question, how do I do metallic paint or at least turn it shiny?

Hi overwatchphoenixoc,

Thank you for using our program.

A tutorial that might help with this question can be found here:

While this one is for spells, the idea of layering your colors from the darkest in the background, to lighter colors in front such as gold, silver, white etc can produce the metallic effect that you’re looking for!

For other questions related to MediBang Paint Pro please see our awesome tutorials!

What do you think about Yuzuru's and Shoma's choice of music for next season?

ride or die, bros that recycle together stay together

i mean, we don’t know what yuzuru’s fs is yet, but i’m not excited for him to bring ballade back for a third season, even if it’s a good program. i think he already did everything he could with it. maybe he could change the music cuts, tweak the choreo…but it’s still the same piece of music and if you’re going to spend time rechoreographing it, why not just make another program to different music instead? but considering that so many other skaters are also recycling old programs for the olympics, it’s…a strategy, i guess. not really a strategy i approve of, but that’s just me. i hope his fs will be new, at least.

shoma picked some of the warhorsiest warhorses, which means he has to work that much harder to overcome my trepidation. four seasons has the potential to be good, i like the little bits we’ve seen of it so far. (it also helps that even though there are 34636354 four seasons programs, i don’t like/remember most of them, so the bar is already set low for me.) i hope he’s going for a darker interpretation, that might be interesting. turandot is…well, he already confirmed it will have new music cuts and new choreo and essentially be a different program from the first, so i’ll wait and see how it goes. not excited about this choice either, but again, it seems to be the prevalent strategy for next season. he says he wants to show how much he’s grown by using it again, but i’m afraid that it might be seen as a step backwards instead.

basically, i’ll give the programs a chance, but i think both skaters are capable of more than this.

Aughhhhh! Okay I’m a little overwhelmed right now with an outpouring of love from all my pals (and more goofy MGS model shenanigans from my main squeeze… more on that later when my actual gift arrives in the mail….) and I just wanted to post my thanks and love for this amazing fandom community that has given me so much over the years. This isn’t a complete list by any means, but I want to give some shout outs while I have the chance. <3

I see you use medibang! I wondered if you could make a quick review for me? I'm interested in making comics and this program is the only free thing that i found. Is it good? love your art btw!

Heyy I’m switching betwen Medibang and Photoshop right now, but I really really recommend Medibang !

Medibang has a ‘cloud’ that you get as soon as you register an account with them (which is free) where they offer brushes, tones, speech bubbles and fonts for you to download and use (for FREE). The cloud is pretty awesome because that way you can switch between PC, phone, tablets, w/other ppl etc and still have all of the stuff for download at the ready and ALSO have your file available on the cloud too. (if you save it there))

I’m slowly weening myself from PS6 to Medibang , but I’ve been switching from one to the other for right now. (Though I’ll probably still stick to Photoshop, I’m just too used to it) MB’s keyboard shortcuts are a little different than photoshop so it’s been a little slow for me to switch my mindset from PS, but it’s still easy to work with.

I’m working on a small 2pager to get used to medibang, and making panels on it is super duper easy (look here)) and you can resize/reshape the speech bubbles they provide to fit your needs.

Here’s something I’m working on.I did the sketch/panels on Medibang, saved it as a PSD and colored/lineart on photoshop, then BACK to Medibang to add tones and speech bubbles/text (though that should of been the first thing to add, Ive never really done comics before)) and Im finishing it up /doing the second page tomorrow. (not showing the whole thing , i dont want to give it away))

Medibang is a super light program so it doesnt boggle down your computer much, and you can totally download and edit any of the brushes you want  (I edited a Thin Pastel brush, it almost feels like Stumpy ) The only thing about MB that I kinda wish they had is that I haven’t been able to make any Masks on my layers. When I switch from PS to MediBang, I lose my masks, and can’t create new ones.

But I highly reccommend MediBang if you want Sai/Fire Alpalca with more features, or if you’re looking for a light, free program to make manga/comics with. It’s really great !! Hope this helps you  !
