i actually should do the request

for @cobains-apologies, who requested “sad iwa with oikawa cheering him up”.

iwaoi after the match vs karasuno. After seeing this request, I thought that, “ah, Oikawa doesn’t actually need to make a grand gesture to show Iwa he cares, right?” Hand holding from Oikawa is easily enough to cheer Iwaizumi up.

I should’ve made this sadder (sad Iwa??!!), but I was already feeling devastated today because my seijoh boys finally made a reappearance in this week’s manga chapter but the third years weren’t there anymore!!!! why do this to me ( ; ω ; )

here is where you can send me art requests! (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜

How I turned pro with Tarot Readings (but I still have a lot to learn!) 👌

Divination is a complex art, even though sometimes it doesn’t look like it. As you all know, I do tarot readings and I noticed how this particular method of clairvoyance gets the same reaction as a piece of contemporary art: people look at me and say I could have done it myself, or something along the lines, to which it’s hard not to reply with a Fuck off, why don’t you do it then?

I must admit that when I first got into tarot reading, doubting my abilities was somehow legit, since I kept using just a single tarot spread to answer whatever question I got and the answers didn’t always stick to what I needed to know. Luckily, in the last few years I’ve improved my technique. But how did I reach my level of expertise?

I changed my perspective on tarots. This was really the first step. At the beginning of my practice the idea I had on tarot reading was completely different. The questions I usually asked all regarded my future, so I made readings whenever I had no idea about how things would turn. Don’t get me wrong, that is still divination, there is nothing wrong in it. But at the point tarot readings to me were just a game I’d like to play when I was bored and all alone or during sleepovers with my friends. Let’s see if he is gonna kiss me this weekend, and I was all ready to throw a tarot spread. It took a lot of years to understand that in tarots there is more than that. When you ask something to tarot cards what you are actually doing is asking for a consult, as if you were in a therapist’s office or talking with a helpline. Tarots gives advice. Which means you have to talk to them heart-to-heart and listen to their words accordingly.

I made tarot readings personal. Whenever a friend asked me for a consult, I wanted to give them the most accurate response there could possibly be. And in order to do that, I couldn’t just use that one and only tarot spread I knew, but I had to choose a spread that was specific to the case. So I decided it was time to start creating them all by myself and it turned out it wasn’t as hard as it seemed to be as long as you keep in mind these simple rules:

🔮 You need to understand where the Consultant mentally is, what they are facing in that moment, where does the question actually come from. Even when people say they just want to investigate their future, their desire probably comes out of something that buggers them.
🔮 You have to turn the Consultant’s request into a series of simple questions, that can help you get the hang of the situation. If the Consultant can’t find a job, I don’t ask the tarots the when’s and the if’s. Instead, I ask why they are blocked in the situation and what they can do to overcome the problem.
🔮 You should choose a layout that helps you get into the right mindset. Avoiding banalities (a heart-shaped layout for a spread about love can be a little too cliche), you can choose a shape that reminds you of the things you are inquiring on, like a Cupid’s bow if you’re asking about new love interests.

I turned off my rationality. As I said before divination really is an art form and, as most of the art forms, it’s easier to understand it if you don’t look at it through the eye of intellect. It might seems illogical, but that is the best way to let the meaning of the cards gets to you. No prejudice, no preconceptions. Sometimes the response could be hard to accept and that’s why I avoid to do readings about controversial or sensible matters.

Did I really become a pro in tarot readings? There aren’t any tips or tricks to be brilliant at it. It takes time and exercise, and even after decades of practice you’ll find you still have a lot to learn. Some people have a natural inclination, other requires more effort instead. But if you’re receptive enough, tarots will disclose their secrets to you without a hitch.

Book Recommendation: House of Leaves

by Mark Z. Danielewski

If you are looking for a great horror (some argue that its actually a love story) book I highly recommend this one. It’s my favorite book of all time. It has a very unconventional format and it’s one of those books that gets better with every read through.

I don’t want to give too much of the story away but the book is about a man doing a documentary on a strange house and strange things within the house.

We will be doing more book recommendations due to high requests, if you have books that you think we should share, please inbox us!

Open Letter to the Clique from Mark

Dear Skeleton Clique,

We are slipping.

Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun use their many talents to send a message of hope and community to those who feel hopeless and alone. The band’s mission is for this message to reach those who struggle (usually with depression, since this is the struggle they (specifically Tyler) understand best), in hopes that it will also help the listener overcome the obstacles they share. They do send other messages, but this is the most immediate and by far the most important.

When a fan base selflessly rallies around this kind of mission and message for the sake of helping others to stay alive, it’s unspeakably beautiful and actually lifesaving. When that same fan base selfishly rearranges its priorities to put fan-status ahead of the mission, it’s unspeakably ugly and detrimental to everything it stood for to begin with. It isolates the message from those who genuinely need it most. It’s an ego-driven, life-threatening mentality.

If there wasn’t so much at stake, I wouldn’t care enough to write a single word about this. The reality, however, is that a truly lifesaving message is getting heavy pushback from many who claim to believe and live out these truths – all in the name of self-glorification. When that happens, we withhold goodness from so many people. Again, we withhold aid from those who need it, and I refuse to just sit here and watch that happen.

I’m not just assuming this negativity and selfishness exists, but rather watching it unfold firsthand. Furthermore, I’m not just assuming that people could really benefit from the message. How many times have you read “Your music saved my life” in the comments? Has it saved yours? Would you want it kept from you?

Let’s take a look at some (paraphrased) attitudes we constantly see:

1) “I’ve been a fan since [album title/year]”
I completely understand why somebody would be proud to have watched a band grow from the beginning. In that case, there would be few who could claim to have seen what you’ve seen, and that’s special in and of itself.

However, it’s not meant to be a trophy for you to shove in anybody’s face. The most likely reason somebody would do this is so that others might acknowledge and validate some high-level of fandom that they possess. Instead of seeking this approval for no good reason, acknowledge your fandom to yourself and move on. Validate your fandom by being a fan. Support the band and its mission.

Honestly, you’d be hard-pressed to find more than one legitimate instance in which you should bring up how long you’ve been a fan. The only one I can think of (and it’s rare as hell) is if somebody asked you directly, but even then, just tell them and move on. Somebody was a fan before you, and there’s likely a band you’ll love that – through no fault of your own – you haven’t even discovered yet.

Boasting the number of years you’ve served in the clique doesn’t drive any of your points home. Not a one. Instead, it divides us, which is foundationally against the message and mission of the band to come together and stay alive.

2) “I hate that they’re getting famous.”
If that’s the case, you simply don’t love or support this band. Let me clarify.

There are only two cases (that I am aware of) in which it makes ANY sense to be upset about your favorite band getting famous: 1) They did so by way of “selling out.” In other words, they sacrificed their mission and message and abandoned what they once stood for as a means to an end (but even in this case, you’d be more upset about the means (selling out) than the end (fame)). 2) Their concert tickets are now much more expensive, which makes it more difficult for you to see them live. In these two cases, absolutely be mad.

The reality you need to accept is that if you love this band, it should bring you unspeakable joy when fame allows their message to reach more people. Otherwise, you’re pushing back against the mission of the band, likely because you just don’t want to share, which brings me to my next point…

3) “This is my band.”
I believe the “this is my band” mentality is responsible for a lot of the issues I’m discussing. When you link your personal identity so heavily with something that is fundamentally meant to be shared, you will inevitably forfeit your identity to the public when it actually becomes shared. You will lose yourself entirely.

4) “I hate how people call themselves fans but they only know Stressed Out/Tear in my Heart/House of Gold/Car Radio.”
Show me even one person who claims to be a Twenty One Pilots fan while simultaneously admitting to only knowing one or a handful of song(s). Seriously, if you see somebody do both at the same time, comment it below. Let’s see how many actually exist.

In other words, those who are upset about self-proclaimed fans only knowing one song likely have no way of proving that the person actually only knows the one song. Rather, they assume the worst of a stranger based solely on whichever song they listed as their favorite. If it’s a radio hit, they often call out the poor soul who simply said they like Stressed Out. Even if they do admit to only knowing the one song, in most (if not all) cases, it’s paired with something like, “…but I love this band,” suggesting they expect to dig further into the discography based off of how much they love what little they’ve heard.

The truth is that these songs are powerful enough for one of them alone to move somebody. If you’re not willing to accept that truth because you feel somebody isn’t doing the entire catalog justice, you don’t even understand these songs, let alone support the mission they drive. No matter how ideal it would be for someone to know the whole catalog, no matter how cohesive and intentional each album is as a whole, that can’t possibly diminish the fact that each song can speak volumes by itself. It’s no crime for somebody to recognize that. In fact, it strengthens this community and allows it to grow.

5) “It’s ‘Twenty One Pilots,’ not ’21p’ or ‘TOP'”
I actually agree that we should spell out the band’s name. They requested that we do so out of respect. However, we need to realize something.

Those who abbreviate the band name are almost never doing so to diminish what Twenty One Pilots is. Abbreviating is common with band names, and people are usually just being people. If you’re seeking to invite the person to understand the spelling-out of the band name, do so kindly and in a way that fosters community. This is usually the route the clique takes, and I’m grateful for that. This is just a friendly reminder.

Again, this is no time to take people’s innocent ignorance personally (see point 3). There is never a need to prove how much you know just for proof’s sake. That divides the fan base and pushes back against the band’s mission and message.

EDIT: Since this article was posted, Twenty One Pilots has released official merchandise with their band name abbreviated in nearly every way imaginable (2NTY ØNE PLTS, TØP, etc), which I have to imagine was their decision. Do what you will and remain inviting.

6) “Vessel is not their first album”
Again, those who suggest Vessel is the band’s first album almost never do so just to get under your skin. Don’t let it anger you. Instead, realize that it actually makes a lot of sense for someone to believe Vessel is their first album considering the difference between independent releases and label releases (some of their work isn’t actually allowed by law to be sold commercially or publicly). Be welcoming and kind. Nurture the clique. Let it grow.

7) “Twenty One Pilots is not indie/rock/pop/rap/whatever.”
The lines separating genres have become so blurred at this point that it’s almost pointless to even try to assign one to a band anymore. There’s no reason to get upset if you think Twenty One Pilots has been misrepresented by genre. That being said, by all means have a discussion about what you think it might be. But don’t get upset. That just doesn’t make any sense.

For the record, they’re self-declared as “Schizoid-Pop” and I have no idea what that’s even supposed to mean. Discuss.

SO.
Being a part of the skeleton clique should make you feel proud. We are the foot soldiers in places the band can’t reach alone. By spreading this message, you help the band help others, and that’s all they want. That, and to see the clique grow.

If somebody flat-out disrespects the mission and message of Twenty One Pilots, by all means fight back. Don’t be rude, just be real. Defend the truth with more truth.

In that same vein, spreading this message is crucial. Let it through. Do not keep it for yourself. This band is not yours, it’s ours. Not everyone in the clique is guilty of this selfish mentality. In fact, I’d say the vast majority is still on track. However, I say again, we are slipping. Let’s find our footing.

Stay alive, friends. |-/

Yuri on Ice BD choreography commentary translation - Volume 3

I’m alive… There were too many things this month, I can’t believe we’re already halfway through. Anyway, finally, here’s the full translation of the choreography commentary from the BD/DVD vol.3. The commentary is by Kenji Miyamoto & Mitsurou Kubo, as usual. This time it’s Minami’s FS, Phichit’s SP, Leo’s SP and Chris’ SP. More programs so of course it’s longer than usual.

Notes:
-It’s two people talking, not a written interview, so expect them to hop from one subject to another within the same sentence… Even if it sounds a bit unconnected at times, that’s how they said it.
-I still arranged it a little to make it easier to understand as written material, by removing lots of “ehm” “uuhm” “you know” “yes” (I especially removed all instances where someone says “yes” in the middle of the other speaking) and fumbled words.
-Amusingly enough both their initials are KM/MK, but I used the surname initials so M is Miyamoto and K is Kubo.
-I put (LOL) when they’re laughing because otherwise some lines might sound serious while they’re actually joking.

***VERY IMPORTANT***
Do NOT use this translation for subtitles, in ANY way.
I don’t support the upload of bonuses contained in BDs/DVDs, as they are meant to be (as the word says) bonuses for the people who spent money to purchase them. If you like a series so much that you absolutely need to watch the bonus contents, please buy the BDs/DVDs.

Translation under the cut since it’s twice the usual length.

Commenting on Fanfic: A how-to guide for not being an asshole. Even unintentionally.

You’ve just read a fanfic that has left an indelible impression, and the siren song of the comment box is calling your name. It begs for you to send your opinion to the author… but should you? Are your thoughts really helpful or encouraging or even all that important?

Well… lets break it down! What do you want to say, and should you say it? And if you should, what should you say?

***

I want to flail at them because their writing is amazing! My comment would be nothing but effuse praise and adulation.

Full speed ahead, captain! By all means! You post that comment! Write for days! There is not enough positive feedback in all the world if you’re a fanfic author. We drink that shit up like it’s the blood of the innocent.

And if you feel awkward about commenting on explicit fic, don’t fret. We’ve all been there. Don’t do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable, but if you want to say something positive about an explicit work, go for it! We wrote explicit fic. We know why you’re here.

Something to consider: While, “THIS IS AMAZING! FLAILING FOREVER! THANK YOU!” is an awesome compliment to receive, it isn’t the same as positive feedback. If you’d like to have a bigger impact on an author that you really enjoy, comment with something specific about their writing and how it moved you.

- “I liked the way you decribed <specific thing here>. It made me feel like I was part of the story.”

- “Your word choice here was amazing!”

- “ *cut and paste a small section of dialogue or action* This was my favorite part.”

This is not necessary by any means. Flail-comments are still the greatest thing ever, and are the best part of any writer’s day. It’s not a matter of one being better than the other. It’s about what sort of impact you want to have on the writer. Praise and flailing are ego and mood boosters and are sure to help us keep writing, and writing more of what you like. Specific positive feedback is a great way to help a writer find and improve their voice when writing.

And “thank you” is always nice. It’s good to acknowledge that fic writers do this on their free time, and let them know that you appreciate it.

***

This fic is amazing and I want to encourage updates or ask when it will be updated!

Tread carefully here. While on one hand, you could simply be meaning to encourage a writer to keep writing, but I know a lot of writers (particularly who start publishing before they are finished) that get anxious over requests for updates. Be mindful of your wording, and be sure you tell the author that you’re enjoying the work. Keep it positive and encouraging.

Remember that fanfic authors have lives outside of writing fic. There may be some real world obstacles in the way of their fic writing, and guilting them about updates will not help. And in fact, it may hinder their ability to write. Not everyone responds well under pressure when it comes to creative outlets.

Something to consider: Pair your request with compliments! And avoid outright demands for updates.

Do: “This story is so amazing. I really love your pacing throughout the chapters. The suspense is amazing. I can’t wait for more! Thank you so much for writing!”

Don’t: “When are you updating? I’m dying here!” or “Update soon !!!”

***

Eeek! This fic I really love has a typo/grammatical error! Can I tell the author in a comment?

Pause for a moment! We are now treading into the dangerous land of uninvited criticism. While your intentions are no doubt good, this could very very easily be taken the wrong way. Or just flat unwanted for whatever reason. This is criticism that is coming quite possibly from a total stranger. There are a few things to consider.

First, check the author’s notes on the fic itself. Do they state that it’s unbetaed and invite corrections? Some do! Myself included when I publish something that has been edited by no one but myself. I know I miss things. When this is the case, I always put an invitation for corrections in my author’s notes, and many other fic writers do the same. Or they put it in their author bio on their main page.

If you see no explicit invitation for corrections, do not do it. It’s as simple as that. I don’t care how egregious the errors are. It is quite simply not your place.

If you do see an invitation for corrections, a few steps are advised. First, go leave a comment on the fic. Make no mention of the corrections there. Just let them know you enjoyed it and thank them for their work. Then, send them a private message, not anonymously, with a gentle wording of the correction. Don’t do this in a comment that everyone can see. There’s no need to be exhaustive if you’ve caught a lot of errors. Sometimes just one or two corrections are enough to make an author go back through with a fine-toothed comb themselves. Then, thank them again in the private message and lay on a compliment or two there as well.  Again… this is not their day job, nor are you their writing professor.

Do: In a private message, “Hi AmazingAuthorPerson! I absolutely loved your fic “Fic from the Pairing X.” You invited spelling corrections in your author notes, and I wanted to let you know that this word was mispelled here.” *copy/paste line where mispelling takes place* “Your work is incredible. Thank you so much for taking the time to write and share with us! Sincerely, PoliteReaderPerson.”

Don’t: In a public comment, “I found errors X, Y, Z, AA, BB, and CC.”

Something to do instead: If you’ve got a good eye for editing, and you’re really interested in helping out fanfiction writers, consider becoming a beta reader. I see requests for beta readers all the time, particularly from people writing in their second/third/fiftyseventh language, and some of the more established fandoms have lists of beta readers. Just know that this can sometimes mean forming a relationship with a writer that goes beyond just comments on their work. Part of what makes unsolicited corrections icky is that they’re coming from total strangers.

***

The author did not appropriately tag something! Can I tell them?

This is a similar situation to the above scenario with corrections. Even though you may not feel like it be careful, especially with your wording.

First, consider if there’s something seriously misleading going on? Is the maturity rating wrong? Did they fail to tag triggering material that would have been important to you to know about for safety reasons?

If it truly is something serious, especially regarding triggering material, very gently tell them using the same method as for corrections. And remember that even though you might be upset, aiming that negativity at the author for what might be an honest mistake or just flat ignorance about tagging is not helpful in the long run.

Do:  “Hi AmazingAuthorPerson! I really appreciate that you take the time to write fanfiction for our fandom. In your fic, “Character Has a Bad Day” there is a scene that contains XYZ triggering material, but the fic is not tagged as containing XYZ material. Would you please update your tags so that your readers can be aware if they need to be? Thank you again for your work! Sincerely, PoliteReaderPerson.”

Don’t: Flame or even shame them in a public comment. Or be rude or angry in the private message.

Regardless of what the author’s response is, move on with your life. You’re not the fandom police.

***

Oh no! I just read a fic and I didn’t like the pairing/ending/a plot twist! I with they had done something else! I need to tell the author!

No, you don’t.

It’s as simple as that so let me repeat it.

No, you don’t.

Here is where we get into the most valuable tool in a fic-reader’s commenting arsenal.

Not Commenting.

Yes, it’s true! The option exists to just not comment. You can read something, not like it, and then move on with your life!

Odds are good the author chose to write what they did for a reason that is personal to them. The idea of changing canon, keeping to canon, shipping a pair, not shipping a pair, or whatever it was spoke to them and they wanted to explore it. Or it was a request from a friend! Regardless, let them do so in peace.

Or go write your take on the same pairing and write it how you think it should be done. I’ll be honest, I’ve read some fanfic where I’ve gone… “Yeah, I don’t know that I like that. I think I would like this better.” And then I go write it! Or at least bat the idea around awhile until it’s out of my system. Hell… isn’t that what fix-it-fics and non-canon-compliant actually is?

Do: Click the little “x” window. Go read a favorite fic you do like. Leave another positive comment for that author.

Don’t: Leave negative comments.

***

That’s the ultimate takeaway here folks. Negative comments are not helpful to fic writers. Full stop. If you feel the author needs to know you didn’t like something, particularly if it has to do with what they chose to write about, or how they chose to portray a character/pairing, I would ask you this:

Why does the author need to know?

Why does the author need to know about your personal tastes in fandom/fanfiction? Especially if it doesn’t include what they are writing. They aren’t here to cater to you and your personal tastes. That is what fic commissioning is for. That’s what tagging is for. So we all can find what we want to enjoy.

So enjoy things. And let other people enjoy things. And most importantly, let authors enjoy writing the things they feel moved to write about.

This has been a public service announcement.

*vanishes in a puff of feathers and caffeine.*

Harry Styles - Harry Styles - A lil review

Meet Me in the Hallway: 2, 3, 4… Love the soft, strumming guitar and Harry’s longing and haunting vocals. Just the way his voice breaks on the word “hallway”… So helpless-sounding and heartfelt. Ugh. Love that as the song nears its end, the instruments are stripped away one by one, and in the end there’s just one guitar and Harry’s voice, and then there’s just Harry’s voice holding that last note. Damn good, and a very clever choice. This song could last an hour long and I still would have to press “replay” over and over again.

Stand-out lyrics: “We don’t talk about it, it’s something we don’t do. ‘Cause once you do without it, nothing else will do.”

“Hoping you’ll come around, just let me know, I’ll be on the floor.”

Sign of the Times: Full-on-flush. I’ve talked about my love for this song many a time since it came out, so I’m moving on. (But I think it’s absolutely gorgeous and one of my faves.)

Carolina: This song feels so old-school and cool. I was immediately struck by that thick bass throughout this song, LOVE it. Love the falsetto parts. Love the oh-yeah parts. Mayyyybe my least fave song on the album, but it’s still SOLID.

Stand-out lyric: “There’s not a drink that could sink her, how would I tell her that she’s all I think about? Well I guess she just found out”

Two Ghosts: Right away, the melody and harmonies… so lush. The acoustic guitar is so lovely, and I love the tone of the electric guitar on top - it almost sounds like it’s crying. This song gives me CNSY and Ryan Adams vibes, which I love, like it just breathes and moves in a really similar and nice way. Cool lil detail: The way he enunciates the ‘t’ in heartbeat at the end.

Stand-out lyric: “We’re just two ghosts swimming in a glass half empty. Trying to remember how it feels to have a heartbeat.”

Sweet Creature: A little Beatles-esque gem of a tune. This is such a soothing and flowy song, and his vocals match the tone perfectly. It’s warm-sounding and simple, and I love that he’s left a little air in this one. It feels organic and just sweeeet. And I love sweet.

Stand-out lyrics: “I always think about you and how we don’t speak enough. “
“Running through the garden, where nothing bothered us.”

Only Angel: Love the calming opening, which drags you into this really eerie and calming musical landscape. You’re ready to set up camp and hang out for a bit, and then Harry’s scream just rips you the fuck out of it. WAY to start a song, haha. Heavy guitar, the screams, the clapping, the background vocals, love it all. Such a colorful song. It’s red and blue at the same time. Tall and short at the same time. It’s pulsing, the beat is sick and his deep timbre gives me shivers..

Stand-out lyrics: “Couldn’t take you home to mother in a skirt that short, but I think that’s what I like about it.”

“Broke a finger knocking on your bedroom door.”

“I must admit I thought about making you mine.”

Kiwi: I’m so here for these drums, and heavy guitars!! GOD. The attitude he has on this song?? It’s like he’s grabbing you by the collar, bringing you close and going “Nope, it’s just you and me”… *fans self* It’s edgy and very 70′s Brit rock, he’s belting out those notes with fierceness.
Love the “ding” after he sings “I’m gonna pay for it”, those little details are so cool and add so much to the complexity imo. And the gritty guitar solo is tasty as hell. You know when the shower is almost too hot to take? That sweet-spot, that’s what this song feels like.

Stand-out lyrics: “And now she’s all over me, it’s like I paid for it, I’m gonna pay for this.”
“I think she said ‘I’m having your baby, it’s none of your business.’”

Ever Since New York: So magical and soft. A big contrast after Kiwi, but fitting as the album cools down again. Love the drumming, there’s so much going on in this song. It’s intricate and subtle. Love that he matches his vocals to the tone and the sentiment of each track. With this song, he never tries too hard. He’s just singing like it’s the most effortless thing for him. And the stacked vocals on the chorus is a beautiful touch. Loved when he changed up the notes on this on SNL, and I wish he’d done that on the recorded version as well, but that’s a small complaint.

Stand-out lyrics: “Choose your words, ‘cause there’s no antidote.”
“I understand I’m talking to the walls.”

Woman: Love this. His vocals are just stunning, (AGAIN) just the way he drags out the word “know” in that first line -AH! This song is so funky, so dope. It’s simple, but hella catchy. With this song, I feel like everything comes together. Like the lyrical idea feels good and goes perfectly with the sonic recording which goes great with the melody and groove. And the background vocals that start around 3:03 adds a really alluring element to the song.

Stand-out lyric: “I hope you can see the shape that I am in. While he’s touching your skin, he’s right where I should be”.

From the Dining Table: From the second you hear his lips part in this, you’re drawn in. He’s singing in a conversational way, which makes it sound really earnest and vulnerable. And that moment when the strings entered floored me the first time I heard it, it was so unexpected. A beautiful explosion of sounds. To me, this song feels like this scenario: It’s raining. You’re in bed, half asleep, there’s a candle about to smoke out, and it’s making the dozens of shadows in the room dance around..

Stand-out lyrics: “Comfortable silence is so overrated. Why won’t you ever say what you want to say.”
“Maybe one day you’ll call me and tell me that you’re sorry too,”

That last one just hit you right in the gut, because it feels so damn authentic and sincere, and that’s something that runs through the whole album imo. It feels exactly like what he should be doing. It’s so him. It never feels contrived or fake. There’s so much heart in it and you can tell that there’s a lot of hard work behind it. There’s not one stand-out weak song, I start playing the first song and I just let it run until it’s done, and that’s rare for me. So THANK YOU more than I could ever explain, Harry. I’m obsessed with this record and I needed it. ❤️

Long Way Home

Dude this one was so fun to write. Hopefully everyone likes reading it as much as I liked writing it! I honestly wouldn’t be opposed to making this into a series, but I don’t know how realistic that would be. (Also AYEEE ROSIE FIGURED OUT HOW TO ADD GIFS)

Request: can you write something where cal is a nerd, and you’re kinda popular?? lots fluff and just have fun with it !! // Anon! Thanks so much for this one. I hope you love it :)

Title: Long Way Home

Summary: Calum’s been crushing on you for as long as he can remember, but your differences in social status have proven to be a bit of a roadblock. However, things start to change when you approach Calum with a simple proposition.

Words: 2k (WOW this got away from me)

Warnings: None? Maybe a tiny bit of language?

You looked great today. Your hair was impeccable, your outfit was put together perfectly, and as you laughed with your friends across the courtyard, Calum couldn’t help but stare. It sucked, honestly.

He’d been practically in love with you ever since you moved into his neighborhood when you guys were ten. You two were best friends for a while, until middle school, anyway. The problem that presented itself at that point was the fact that you were the cool new girl from another country, causing your popularity to skyrocket. And unfortunately, Calum and his friends were a bit lower on the social pyramid, making any chance of a relationship with you almost unattainable.

“-right, Cal?”

“Huh?” Calum turned to face Michael, blinking out of his reverie. “I mean, uh. Right. Yeah, I agree.”

Michael grinned. “You agree that Mr. Peters is a total babe?”

“What!”

Michael, Luke, and Ashton all burst out laughing, causing Calum’s face and neck to heat up.

“Pay attention to the conversation next time,” said Ashton around his laughter, “instead of staring at Y/N all day like a creeper.”

“Shut up,” Calum muttered. “What were you asking, anyway?”

“We were asking when you were planning on actually talking to Y/N,” said Luke, and Calum elbowed him.

“Very funny.”

“No, in reality we were just asking if we were on for rehearsal tonight,” Ashton explained. “I asked if we were still all set to have it at your house.”

“Oh, yeah,” Calum nodded. “Sure.”

Suddenly Ashton and Michael, who were seated across from Calum and Luke, went quiet, focusing on something behind them. Calum frowned at his friends. “What—”

Michael suddenly began coughing and Ashton smiled at whatever it was behind Calum. “Hey, Y/N!” Calum’s eyes widened and Michael waggled his eyebrows.

“Hey, Ashton,” came the sound of your voice, and Calum almost groaned in annoyance. Just the sound of your voice gave him butterflies.

“How’s your day been?” Michael asked casually, and you stood at the end of the table so that you could see all of them, pressing your palms to the surface and leaning forward slightly.

“Pretty good, thanks, yours?”

Michael replied with a “Good, thanks,” before you turned to Calum.

“Do you wanna walk home today?”

Calum tried to contain his surprise, simultaneously trying to force a blush from creeping up onto his face. “I… what?” He turned around to glance at your friends, to see if they were staring over here and it was all some sort of prank, but they were all laughing or doing homework as if nothing was off.

You laughed, and once again, Calum’s heart lurched. “Yeah, um, I finished all of my homework and I don’t have soccer today so I figured I’d just head home. I was wondering if you wanted to walk together since we’re neighbors and all.”

“Y-yeah,” Calum stuttered, then cleared his throat. He could feel his friends’ gazes on the two of them, like vultures. “Yeah, I don’t see why not. When were you planning on leaving?”

“Oh, whenever works for you!” you said with another dazzling smile. “I’m up for whenever, but I don’t want to rush you or anything.”

“Actually, we were just finishing up,” Luke chimed in, closing his textbook. The other guys followed his action, packing up their things and clearing the table. Calum wanted to strangle each and every one of them right the and there.

“Perfect,” you said. “I’ll go grab my stuff. Meet you at the main entrance, Cal?” The use of your nickname for him almost made Calum visibly freak out. He was already pretty sure you could hear his heart beating from where you stood.

“Yeah, sounds good,” he said as calmly as possible, and with that, you nodded, flashing another smile and saying goodbye to the other guys, and turned to head back to your table. Calum watched your retreating figure before turning back to his friends.

“Guys, what the fuck.”

“What?” asked Michael innocently.

“‘Just finishing up?’” Calum mocked.

“We were helping you out!” protested Ashton.

“Yeah, you’ve been in love with Y/N for how long now?” Luke added.

“You guys suck,” Calum groaned, packing his own things. “You legitimately suck balls.”

“Only on Tuesdays,” Michael retorted. Calum flipped him off.

“I’ll see you guys later, or something,” he said, heading toward the courtyard exit.

“No detours, Cal-Pal!” Ashton called and Calum shook his head, ignoring his friends and heading toward the school’s entrance to meet you. It was a short walk, so he found you almost immediately. Unfortunately, you were talking with a few of your friends, who were also pretty popular. In all honesty, Calum almost marched straight back into the courtyard because he was afraid he would embarrass you in front of your friends if he tried to talk to you. For all he knew, you were talking to them about how you had to walk home with him and how annoyed you were!

Then Calum’s logic told him that no, you had asked him to walk home together, and you actually weren’t a bitch like some of your friends. So, Calum came to a brilliant solution to his dilemma: ignorance.

Shouldering his backpack and taking a deep breath, he started walking toward the doors, walking straight past you and the people you were talking to. He figured he could act as if he didn’t see you, instead heading outside to wait. And sure enough, almost immediately after he stepped outside into the October air, he heard you call out.

“Cal, wait!”

He turned around to see you rushing in his direction, finally slowing down when you reached him. “Sorry, I didn’t see you,” he said, and you shrugged.

“No worries. I was talking to a few friends so I got caught up, sorry.”

“No worries,” Calum repeated, and you looked up at him with a smile that made his heart flutter.

“So,” you said, “shall we go?”

“We shall,” Calum replied, causing you to giggle, and suddenly he felt bit more confident. This wasn’t so bad. The two of you began walking, and a comfortable silence settled until you broke it.

“Hey, why don’t you play soccer?” you asked randomly, and Calum shrugged.

“You mean football?” he teased, and you rolled your eye, smiling nonetheless. “Dunno,” he continued. “Not my thing, I guess.”

“Um, I cry bullshit,” you replied, and Calum’s eyebrows shot up as he turned to look at you.

“What?”

“I’ve seen you play, Calum. You’d fit in really well with varsity, trust me. Plus, you were always great when we played as kids.”

“I just didn’t want to, I guess,” he insisted. He didn’t want to admit that he was too shy to try out, considering the boys’ football team was full of pigheaded morons who already probably hated his guts.

You only shook your head, shrugging. “Your choice, I guess. I really shouldn’t be criticizing you for a choice you made.”

“It’s okay.”

Another silence settled, and Calum took the time to look around. A lot of cars were on the street, full of people coming home from day jobs.

“Um, thank you,” you suddenly said. “For walking with me, I mean. I don’t usually walk and you were in the courtyard too, so I just wanted to ask. For old times’ sake, you know?”

Calum smiled at that one. That was one of the reasons he liked you so much; you didn’t care about popularity. You didn’t try to forget or ignore the fact that you two were best friends several years ago. Calum was grateful for that.

“I get it,” Calum said.

“I do wish we talked a bit more,” you continued, and Calum found himself in shock yet again. You wanted to talk to him?

“Me too,” he said honestly. “You friends kinda hate me though, I think.”

“What! No way,” you protested. “They just… they don’t know you, that’s all. You aren’t close with them.”

“It’s alright,” said Calum with a shrug. “I know I’m kind of a dork. I’ve got my friends though, so I’m happy.”

You smiled at that, and it made Calum’s knees weak. “That’s a good way to look at things.”

The two of you continued to walk and talk with one another, and Calum genuinely enjoyed your company. It wasn’t awkward like he thought it would be, and you weren’t patronizing him like he had dreaded you would.

He realized with a start that you guys had almost reached your neighborhood, so he turned left as opposed to right, opting to take the long way instead. Hey, he wanted to spend as much time with you as possible. He wasn’t sure when this would ever happen again.

At that point, the sun was getting lower in the sky. As you pointed out a couple of birds, smiling and laughing as you did so, Calum noticed that you were literally glowing in the fading sunlight. The orange light outlined you like some ethereal halo, illuminating your features and giving your eyes an even more vibrant look than usual. His breath hitched a bit as he marveled at how beautiful you were, but when you turned back to face him, he acted as nonchalant as he could.

Shit, he was so screwed.

Eventually you had reached the neighborhood where you lived, and Calum was both sad and relieved. Sad because his time with you was ending, but relieved for the same reason. He didn’t want to fall for you even more when you were so untouchable and, quite frankly, out of his league. Like, way out of his league.

“Thanks so much, Cal,” you said when you reached the foot of your driveway. “I had a really good time.”

“Yeah, me too,” he said with a smile, a genuine smile. He was ecstatic to hear that you actually enjoyed the time you spent together.

“We should do this again sometime,” you suggested, and Calum had to physically stop himself from jumping for joy.

“Totally,” he agreed. “It was fun.”

“I’ll let you know when the soc-football season ends,” you told him, smiling as you corrected yourself. “We’ll make more of a habit out of this. For old times’ sake, right?”

“I like that idea,” Calum said honestly, and you nodded.

“Well, I’m gonna head inside. Thanks again, Calum, really,” you said, placing a hand on his arm and squeezing a bit before smiling and turning to walk up to your house.

Calum ran a hand down his face, letting it linger over his mouth and jaw. Holy shit, he thought as he watched you enter your house. His hand then found its way into his hair, disheveling the dark curls. Holy shit.

He slowly turned to walk back to his own house, almost directly across the street. He couldn’t wait to shove in his friends’ faces the fact that things went so exceptionally well.

Unbeknownst to Calum, you had made your way up to your bedroom. You watched from the window as your neighbor headed home, and you couldn’t help but smile widely, heart still beating rapidly. So okay, maybe you did have practice today, but the coach loved you and you figured you could just tell her you didn’t feel too well.

And fine, maybe you were kinda, sorta, maybe crushing on Calum.

You could only hope he felt the same way.

“The Language of Love”  Negan x Reader

Word Count: 2,225

Negan x Reader

Request: Can I request a Negan one? Where the reader grew up in France but moved to the US when she was young, but kept her French accent/French as her first language. And she gets taken as prisoner by Negan, but he treats her really well because he’s attracted to her. But one day he just pisses the reader off and she starts to cuss him out in French, and it turns Negan on a lot. And it leads to smut?

Warnings: Smut (oral receiving and giving, no actual penetration), swearing, language kink, I think Negan in general should just be a warning, dom! Negan

a/n: this was a request from someone who messaged me, and I told them I would do it, but I just wanted to point out that I do not speak French. This is all from google translate so I sincerely apologize if anything is not correct!

Growing up in a country that you were not born in was not the easiest of tasks you have ever had to do. You were originally born in France in a small town just outside Paris, and you lived there until you were thirteen. You loved it there, and once your parents told you that you were moving to the United States (Georgia, in particular), you were not pleased.

You grew to enjoy living here, and everyone was nice to you. The only real problem was the language barrier. You knew minimal English at first, and your French accent was thick. Of course, the other students loved it, but it made it hard for them to understand you, especially when you only knew a few basic words.

As you got older, English became second nature to you, and you barely spoke French anymore. Especially now that it was the apocalypse, none of your French-speaking family was alive anymore, and no one in your group could speak it. You tended to keep that side of you separate from your life now. Life now was different, and you treated it that way. You wanted to put your old self behind and become someone who would survive out here, and dwelling on the past wouldn’t help that.

The only time that you ever spoke French was when you were mad. Oh, man, when you were mad, it came out without you being able to control.

Baisez-vous, je ne vous dis rien!” You spit at the man in front of you. He calls himself Negan, although you’re sure that can’t be his real name. You figure it’s probably a fake name, like what the Governor used. He’s attractive, you’ll admit. The way he carries himself, his beard, just in face in general… Damn. But he was not a good guy. You’ll never let his attractiveness get to you. “Éloigne-toi de moi!”

My Arcanine and Houndoom can't get along. They're both males, I raised them both from pups, and they're both total sweethearts individually, but they constantly bark and growl at each other and fight whenever they can. Is this normal? Have I raised them wrong?

I doubt it.

The part about raising social Pokémon is that…well…they fight. Wild Pokémon fight, tame Pokémon fight, herd animals fight, pack animals fight. Heck, even people fight. Whenever you get more than two individuals together, there is always a chance that they will not get along. Fighting Pokémon do not necessarily mean you have done something wrong or bad. Sometimes it’s just instinct/personality/bad luck.

So do not feel guilty about it. Do, however, get help.

Unfortunately, I am ill-prepared to suggest Pokémon training tips, particularly for social interaction, but your local Pokémon Center should have contact information for trainers, training clubs, classes, and Pokémon psychologists. They will be able to guide you through this.

“I’ll see you around Y/N”

That simple sentence had been replaying in your head ever since he left that day and you couldn’t wait to hear his sweet voice again. Whenever Jimin spoke, his words flowed beautifully out of his mouth like a river.

This event itself felt like a dream. What was Jimin doing outside your apartment, in the rain, at five in the morning? He was dressed beautifully, wearing a long black coat with black jeans to match. He also had a mask covering the bottom half of his face for an unknown reason.

“Y/N? What are you doing? Come here.” His river like voice cascades smoothly through your ears as he gestures you to take shelter under the same black umbrella from before.
