Fights - Josh Dun

“Is there anything you’d like me to cook for dinner?” you asked as you walked past your boyfriend Josh. He was sat down on the couch watching the television. You weren’t sure what program was on, but you knew Josh was tired. He had just gotten back from a few concerts with his band, and immediately he’d headed to the lounge room to relax. You were a bit upset that he didn’t want to spend time with you straight away, but you knew he needed to rest so you ignored it.
“I don’t really care,” he replied. You weren’t sure if it was meant to be rude or not, so you just took it as ‘make whatever you want for dinner’. You walked into the kitchen and began to cook up some left overs, as that was really all you had. You placed it on two plates, even presenting it nicely with a little herb on top to make it look a bit special.
“Here you go,” you said happily, handing the plate to Josh. He didn’t even look at you when you handed the plate to him, so you just sat down beside him. You had just begun to eat when Josh spoke.
“What even is this?” he questioned rudely. You looked over at him with a confused look on your face. “What do you mean?” you asked, holding your fork just above your plate. Josh continued to stare at the plate in his lap with disgust.
“I’ve been here for less than two hours and already you’re treating me like crap…” he mumbled, placing his plate on the coffee table in front of him. You did the same, then sat up and crossed your arms.
“What the hell are you talking about?” you replied, a little more angry than you expected. You knew that Josh was tired but you couldn’t work out why he was being so rude. Josh just rubbed his eyes, then ran his fingers through his pink hair.
“I was expecting a little more when I got home,” Josh said, looking at you sadly. You still had the confused look on your face, but it was beginning to turn into anger. “I’m sorry, you’ve been away for so long I guess I forgot that I was your slave now?” you spat back, making Josh stand up in defense.
“Oh sorry that I’ve been out making money for you and our hopeful future family,” he shouted, his fists clenched by his side. “I love it that you’re out doing what you love, but now that we’re thinking of getting married don’t you think we could do a bit more together?” you screamed, standing up and looking Josh in the face. You could feel your face getting red.
“What do you expect of me?” Josh shouted back. Your rolled your eyes in reply. “What the hell do you expect of me?” you screamed, only inches away from Josh’s face.
“I expect you to respect me, and not be such a bitch!” he shouted, obviously not thinking about what he was saying. Suddenly the anger slipped out of your body, and your heart smashed onto the floor.
Josh had never once called you a bitch. He’d never really sworn at you either. Suddenly you realized you’d never really had a fight this bad, and you freaked out.
As soon as Josh said those words to you you wanted to cry. You stared into his face, tears in your eyes. You could see in his eyes that he immediately regretted what he had said, and his mouth opened to say something. But no words came out.
“I’m going to go stay at Jenna and Tyler’s tonight,” you whispered, trying to hold back your tears. One slid down your cheek, and Josh leant forward to hug you. But you turned your back, and ran up the stairs to pack you bag. You felt heart broken, and you didn’t even look at Josh as you walked out the front door. You could tell that he regretted what he’d said, but you didn’t care. You just wanted to get away.
“Y/n?” Jenna said as she opened the front door. You stood there in a jumper and your bag in your hand, your cheeks stained from tears. You stared at her for a while before you broke down. You began to cry, and Jenna immediately pulled you into a hug. You looked over Jenna’s shoulder to see Tyler running down the stairs and staring at you in confusion.
Jenna led you upstairs to the spare bedroom, and Tyler followed behind not knowing if he could help or not. You sat down on the edge of the bed, and Tyler and Jenna both wrapped their arms around you as you cried.
“We’ve never really fought, I just freaked out. I’m such a bitch,” you whispered, and you could see Jenna looking at Tyler sadly. “No you’re not,” Tyler replied, rubbing your shoulder. “He just wants me to be a good wife,” you said, sobbing.
Eventually they calmed you down, and you fell asleep thinking hard about what had happened that day. You played with your wedding ring on your finger, deep in thought. You only wanted the best for him, and you really loved him. You’d never had a fight, and you felt selfish for the way you had freaked out.
The next morning you woke up to the smell of pancakes. You felt terrible, but you smiled as you walked down the stairs. Tyler was sat down at the table in the kitchen, while Jenna finished plating up fresh pancakes. She was the first to spot you, and immediately she ran over to hug you.
“Hey, how are you?” she asked, and you looked over at Tyler who was smiling at you. “Actually, I’m okay,” you said, a smile plastered on your face. Jenna had a massive grin on her face as she led you over to the table. She sat you down next to Tyler, then looked around the table.
“Oh shoot, I forgot the maple syrup. I’ll just quickly run to the shops and get some,” she said, grabbing her bag and sprinting out the door. As soon as she was gone Tyler turned to you. “Are you actually okay?” he asked, a sad look on his face. You just sighed.
“Of course not. I just want to please Josh, and I feel like shit. But surprisingly I feel better then I thought I would,” you replied, smiling. Tyler just gave you a hug, and grabbed a pancake. It wasn’t long before Jenna returned, and the three of you enjoyed the pancakes.
After breakfast you went upstairs to get changed, and decided to go downstairs and wash up all the plates. It was the least you could do for Jenna and Tyler, and you knew they were busy doing other things. You heard a knock on the door, and you reluctantly walked over as you were the only one around to answer it.
You opened the door to see Josh, a sad smile painted on on his face. He looked at you patiently, waiting for you to say something. You just stood there not having a clue what to do. So you did the first thing that came to your head.
You leaped forward into Josh’s arms and buried your face into his chest. You cried, and you could hear Josh whispering that he was sorry. His arms held you so tightly, and you knew that you were finally happy.
“Y/n, I didn’t mean any of the things I said. I was so tired and not thinking and-” Josh started, but you cut him off. “I know, and I’m sorry too,” you said, leaning up to kiss him. He held onto the back of your neck, and both of you smiled into the kiss. You had missed him so much, and you were so happy he was back.
