So I read STFF last night...

Amazon is freaking amazing. I got my copy a day early and spent all of last night reading it. Despite some poor reviews and negative reactions to the advanced copies, I actually really enjoyed this book. I read a ton of fanfic and books. When I enjoy a story, I get sucked in and will read non-stop to finish it (time/life permitting). Other than dinner and watching Dustin Lance Black’s “When We Rise” last night, I read STFF. I was compelled to take notes throughout. I ended up with three pages of notes.

If you’re the general audience, I think you will enjoy this book. It’s funny, raw, tender, and heartbreaking. Coming from a fandom perspective, you’ll get it. You may see yourselves in it. The character development for the 4 teenagers could have been better, he devoted a chapter to each one and further glimpses into them as the story went on, but for the most part, not enough. I think my fave depiction of one of the kids was the trans kid, Sam - that’s going to help a lot of kids out there. Maybe he was trying to keep the book shorter (it’s 295 pages) to keep the average teens attention span, but tbh, these kids are reading Harry Potter and other much longer novels so I think he could have expanded that more.

If you’re not a Chris Colfer fan who’s paid attention to his life, you may not get any of the autobiographical nature of this book. However, make no mistake, he pulls directly from his life and life experiences and it’s blatant. I definitely have a clearer perspective on Chris and the way he views life, his Glee years, and fandom. He’s screaming to be heard and understood. Please don’t read into this thinking he hates his fans, that’s just not true. He loves and appreciates his fans, however, certain fans and fandom culture scares the hell out of him. He’s never quite understood us. I don’t take it with malicious intent, it just is what it is. Obviously we cannot empathize unless we’ve been in his shoes, but we get a better understanding through this book.

Chris wrote this as an exercise of “plausible deniability” just like when he wrote the Rachel/PR bits into his episode. Of course he’s going to claim this is all fiction and has very little basis in reality, we know better. Definitely go buy it and check it out.

There are many obnoxious things I found within, you may or may not agree with me, but do not come hatin’ into my inbox. I won’t be entertaining you today.

Under the cut (slight spoilers ahead, but I do not mention Cash’s secret) are the things that stood out for me:

Photos at the Movies Bill Skarsgård x Reader

Bill Skarsgård x Reader

Requester: michelleloc17

Hi, I love your Bill Skarsgard x Reader stories. I was wondering if you can do one where Bill is at a premier of a movie of some sort and the reader is a photographer and they somehow end up TOGETHER! I’ll leave you to think of how the rest will continue because I trust it’ll be great! Thank you so much! :)

Warning: None

Note: Movie Theaters are awesome to work at cuz you get to enjoy free movies during your breaks. I was planning at working at one but then I decided not to cuz I’d rather not come home smelling like buttered popcorn thanx.

I mean I LOVE popcorn but to have that smell all over you but no popcorn is like torture cuz then you’d be constantly craving popcorn. Don’t think I’ve said popcorn enough.

“Because they pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop!” One of the most CUTEST scenes with Georgie’s giggle.

I’m sorry I love Georgie he’s just the cutest little thing ever X3!!!

Okay enjoy! :D!

(OH MY GOSH THIS FOX GIF IS CUTE!!!! X3!!!!!!!!!)

You were so excited as you started your job at the local movie theater in Hollywood, California. You worked at the local movie theater but you were also a photographer, a writer, and a little bit of an artist.

Well your boss had heard about your photography skills and how you had won 15 blue ribbons and at least 5 trophies due to your photography skills. You had a natural born talent for it from your grandmother who had first taught you how to take good photos at a young age when you used a small plastic camera.

Ever since then you gradually blossomed until you had won a ton of contests and trophies and prizes. Well a new movie called IT was such a highly anticipated movie that the theater was sold out on tickets for a whole week.

So your manager thought it was a brilliant idea to set up a 3D-cardboard scene with a life size cut out of Pennywise standing there with his pointed grin and a handful of bright red balloons.

He was standing in the sewers with Georgie just barely noticeable in the background. You had set up a tripod to take pictures with the incredibly life size and detailed cut out.

It was $5 for a picture and your manager said you’d get half of whatever the total amount was. Well you were sure you were going to be able to buy a yacht at the end. Crowds, upon crowds came in some dressed as clowns and even if they weren’t going to see the IT movie they still took pictures with the scene.

Eventually you heard cheering and screaming and your heart raced when you saw the main cast of IT including the directors were walking your way.

“Hey there.” Andi greeted, “Do you mind if we take a picture?”

“Uh. Yeah totally.” You replied.

You took a picture of the directors with the Pennywise, the Losers club with Georgie, the Bowers gang, and then the killer clown himself.

Bill Skarsgård.

Genre: Fluff

Pairing: Jungkook X reader

Fandom: BTS

Summary: You’re bored, exhausted and just plain tired of working especially since you got stuck with nightshift. It feels as though you’ll never end up going home until someone walking in catches your eye. Jungkook offers to keep you occupied but also tries to avoid getting you in trouble.

(A/N: Literally a experience I’ve had from some guy while on night shift. All of which was awkward and terrible but if you add in Jungkook it makes it seem….romantic? Weird. *ididntendupgivinghimmynumber*)

The woman and her young daughter smiled at you politely as you took the cash from her hands and started to put it into the register. The mom takes a quick glance around the mostly abandoned store and what looks like at something behind you. She leans in looking concerned.

“I can’t believe they have you working out here this late at night all alone. Please be careful.”

Knowing the danger yourself you had no choice but to agree, trying to not panic yourself with the thought. You gave the woman a reassuring smile.

“Yes Ma’am. I’ll be careful.”

She gave a small one back, nodding her head.

“Have a good night then.”

“You too!” You called after her as the two of them walked away.

You let out a long sigh, already completely drained from the long hours you had been receiving. Taking a glance outside the glass doors you notice how dark it was outside, seeing only a few cars under the dimly lit parking lot. You wondered why people would even come into the clothing store so late at night during the week but settled on assuming they needed something badly for the next day.

As you turn around you see a boy around your age, awkwardly walking back and forth in the aisles near your register. You recognized him from earlier when you greeted his group of friends from entering the store so it was odd to you that he was now all alone. His tall figure was hard to miss along with his perfectly light brown hair and attractively cute brown eyes to match. You couldn’t help but keep looking over at him as you attempted to stay busy, wondering why he wouldn’t just come over already if he was planning to do so.

Curiosity caused you to look over in his direction for far too long when he quickly glanced at you during the same time. At first he continued at what he was looking at before taking a second look back over to you when he realized you had made eye contact. Like it was second nature you whipped your head in the other direction, already feeling the blood rushing to your cheeks.

“Damn it..” You whispered to yourself.

It didn’t take too long afterwards to hear a set of footsteps coming closer to you and the handsome boy now stood in front of you.

“Oh, uh. Hi-…Did you find everything okay?” You asked, mentally beating yourself up from the nervous tone you couldn’t hide.

Jungkook’s nose crinkled, revealing his smile all at the same time. You saw his eyes scanning your name tag.

“Yeah, everything was fine. How was work today? Slow, Y/N?”

“Kinda. It wasn’t too bad earlier but now i’m lucky if a customer comes in once every hour. You didn’t notice this place was a ghost town when you came in?” You said with a slight laugh in your voice.

Jungkook shrugged, leaning on the counter across from you as he easily made eye contact for the third time.

“Maybe a lot of them just carpooled.” He joked.

“What about you? How come you’re in here so late? I would have been home asleep already but it seems like you guys are in some real need of jeans if you’re coming in here at 12:30.”

“Oh, It was their idea. One of my friends has a thing to go to and we just got off work so there wasn’t really much time to go out before. The 3 of us all just moved here. ”

Your eyes widened in shock as you crossed your arms over your chest, relaxing a lot more than you were before.

“What? Really? Why would you ever move here?” You teased, knowing this place wasn’t all that exciting.

“Work, it wasn’t much of a choice. But seriously, what do you guys do for fun around here?” He giggled.

Even the sound of his laugh sounded sweet. The oddly empty store, the casual conversation, and just seeing him leaned up against the countertop wearing his grey, oversized hoodie along with the tight black jeans, all worked together in a strangely romantic atmosphere. It looked like a scene out of a movie to anyone else just watching. You didn’t feel scared like you usually would have when the store was just you and one other person. It felt nice in the sense he didn’t seem to have bad intentions.

“Here? Absolutely nothing. We have a movie theater, which is easy to get sick of, and the mall that has maybe 2 good stores in it. I mean, if you’re with someone else then anything can be fun, you know? Me and my friends have just resorted to hanging out at home talking about when we can move out of here.”

Jungkook scoffed.

“Why don’t you move out then?”

You gave him a “Do I look like I can afford to just move out” look to which he laughed and apologized.

“We’ll for starters we’re all in college so we definitely can’t afford to just up and move.”

“Understandable, so how about making the most of it? I heard you guys have a skating rink around here.”

You covered your mouth with you hand, not being able to hold back your laughter.

“Yeah but I went there all the time in middle school. I’m not exactly the target age for that place.”

“Didn’t you just say anything is fun with someone else?”

“Yeah and which one of my friends do you think will even agree to something as childish as rollerskating? The place is packed with children.”

Jungkook fiddled with his phone, suddenly acting shy. You tilted your head only slightly out of confusion. The somewhat cocky boy was now the same one cowering behind the electronic device in his hands.

“Why is it?” You asked, watching his face for a reaction.

“Do you maybe wanna go sometime?”

Before you could even think about answering you heard the rest of his friends coming over, one putting his arm around him. You greeted the one who came over first, watching him set his stuff down in front of you. Yugyeom smiled at you.

“Was Jungkook bothering you? He’s not the best with talking to girls he thinks are pretty.”

You mentally took down his name, hearing it for the first time. Jungkook looked annoyed but didn’t say anything, actually wanting to hear your answer.

“Not really, i’m glad he came over. I was bored out of my mind.” You answered, cooly.

You couldn’t help but notice the small smile Jungkook got afterwards, making you smile as well. You started to ring everything up, scanning each item perfectly. You had been doing this all day but it felt pressuring when you could feel Jungkook’s gaze on you. It started to make you think just how long before you noticed him was he watching you for and if you had done anything stupid in the meantime.

“Alright, that’ll be $93.67.”

Jungkook stepped up from behind Yugyeom, handing you his card.

“I got it.” He stated.

You pointed over to the card reader, trying to tell him he had to swipe his card instead. He embarrassingly started to blush, fumbling with the card as he realized his mistake. It was hard not to think about how adorable he was even when he was trying to show off.

“Fine, you can bring it to the car then. We’ll wait outside, okay?” Yugyeom suggested as he started to walk out with the third friend.

Jungkook nodded.

“Yeah, I’ll be there in a sec.”

He watched as the two of them left the store before turning back to you. You pulled the receipt out of the machine, attempting to hand it over to him but he only took a look at it before saying, “I know this is really forward and you probably get this all the time but…do you think you could write your number on the receipt?”

It did happen occasionally so you were almost positive he was bound to ask but actually hearing him say it filled you up with happiness, feeling a strange feeling in your chest. You were now the one blushing, scribbling your number down quickly as if he would have changed his mind if you wrote it down too slow.

“You better not stand me up on that skating rink offer.” You joked, smiling at him as you handed back the receipt.

Jungkook’s face lit up in front of you as he took it from your hand, accidentally grazing yours.

“Have a good night, Y/N.”

You nodded. “Yeah, you too.”

As he walked out of the store you heard Yugyeom from the parking lot yell.

“Did you get her number?”

“Hell yeah, I did!”

Instantly as the door shut behind him you ended up bursting out laughing at how childish they were and for the rest of the night, work didn’t seem too bad. The only thing that seemed difficult was wiping the smile off of your face as you kept thinking back on what just happened.

kitten-or-cat  asked:

Could I please ask for a Dean scenario? (preferably fluff)😊

Bonnie and Clyde

Pairing: Reader x Dean

Genre: Fluff

Word Count: 1140

Summary: You promised to meet Dean at the drive in theater for your first date, but you forgot you had another boring commitment that same night. You tend to have a dramatic way of going about things.

Here I am… Sitting here with a blind date I completely forgot about until he called, instead of doing what I hoped to be doing tonight, with the person I hoped to be with.

It was my best friend’s idea to get me a blind date, and it was my date’s idea to invite his snooty friends. So here I am in a casual green cotton dress and adidas, while these people are sitting across from me in designer shoe, suits and dresses…

They talk about things incomprehensible to me; not for them being too complicated, but rather too boring. They brag about their most recent car, or gossip about the most recent celebrity scandal.

I would much rather be with him right now…

Hyuk and I had been playing a long back and forth game of flirting with each other, so I was quite surprised when he straight up asked me out.

“I-I…. I’m sorry Hyukie I must’ve not heard you right? What was that?”

He flushes slightly but still keeps his chill composure. “I asked if you wanted to go see a movie with me? At the drive in theatre? They’re doing a showing of old movies, and “Bonnie and Clyde” is playing at 10:00 pm… So..”

I giggle a bit. He’s so frickin cute, does he even realize it? “Hmm, “Bonnie and Clyde” eh?  I think that sounds doable.”

“Yeah?” He says with a relieved smile.

“Yeah.” I say back with a smile, and we lock eyes. His gaze is so comforting…

“A-Alright then,” He looks away smiling harder and grabs his stuff. “I’ll see you there then?”

“Yes Hyukie, you can count on it.” I say with a confident smile.” He gives a bright eye smile and takes off.

Yet, It’s 9:57 pm. And I’m sitting here not even participating in the conversation. I completely forgot about this commitment in the first place, so that goes to show you how ‘excited’ I was about it. They’re not even looking at me…

What… What am I doing here exactly? The drive in theatre is only walking distance from here…

I have the most perfect guy waiting for me at a drive in theatre, and I’m sitting here with a bunch of snooty strangers in a stuffy restaurant.

What would Hyuk say if he saw me right now? Sitting here, so out of place…

Suddenly I start to hear the tune of Hyuk’s “Bonnie and Clyde” playing in my head, and it grows louder, and louder, until all of the boring small talk surrounding me is drowned out.

I want us to be more than friends… So again… What I am I doing sitting here…?

I stand up and the napkin lying on my lap slides down and to the  floor. I look down at them and see for the first time this night, they’re actually looking my way. “I’m leaving.” I state boldly.

My blind date’s friend speaks lowly but loud enough that I can hear him, “She’s the rebellious kind, hm? Don’t worry, not your type anyway.” I see my blind date look a little annoyed but not hurt.

I start to run out of the restaurant, but I turn around and run back a little. I’m technically ditching him without any explanation, so I feel the need to say something more. I look him in the eye and can only think of one appropriate comment.

“I’m sorry.” I quietly tell him. But all the while I can’t stop the anxious grin from spreading across my face. Nah, I’m not sorry.

I’m going to make it Hyuk.

I run out and onto the street, happy I wore comfortable shoes. I giddily run up the evening street, passing underneath street lamps, and bypassing small business neon signs. I can’t stop smiling, and jubilant little laughs escape my mouth. Just the thought of getting to see him has me acting on such childish impulses, and brimming with innocent joy.

I see the corner need to make it to the drive in theatre, and I cut the corner sharply trying to make good time. I see it, and I run even faster, knowing I’ll have to take a moment when I get there to catch my breath. It seems as though the movie has only just started, but there are so many cars pulled into the theatre. I feel like crying out in frustration.

Then I get a crazy idea. Kind of dramatic too I might add.

I run through all of the cars, and step up on the stage. Not feeling any fear at all, only focusing on finding Hyuk, I step in front of the giant projection screen. Although I’m not big enough to block a good portion of the film, I am noticed, and people start to yell. All I can do is rapidly dart my eyes around though, trying to make sure the one person I want to see me does.

Almost dead ahead I see someone else stand up, and hear more yelling from the cars behind them. When a lighter scene starts to play behind me on the screen than the previous one, I break out into a goofy smile. It’s Hyuk, and he’s chuckling to himself.

I run ahead to his car, and bear hug him. “I almost didn’t make it, but I’m here!” I quietly exclaim.

He laughs and shyly hugs me back. “Y’know Y/N, you certainly have a flair for the dramatic.”

I pull away and sit in the passenger side of the car, and Hyuk follows suit getting in the driver’s side. “Who me? That doesn’t sound right.” I say and give him a sarcastic smirk. “I just have a different way of doing things. You saw me right? And I saw you. That’s all I really cared about honestly.”

He laughs heartily yet quietly, and looks at me with a gentleness that I always find alluring. He interlaces our fingers, and I look up to find we’re both blushing. “I’m glad you’re here..” He says and caresses my cheek.

I look down shyly smiling, and place my free hand on top of his. “I am too… Hyukkie?”

   “Mmm?” He hums contently.

“What are we…? Are we… More than friends?” I ask a little nervous.

I look up and Hyuk looks vulnerable for a moment. His eyes were wide, and his cheeks flushed. He looks down at our interlaced fingers, and brings our hands up to kiss the back of mine. “We’re whatever you wanna be baby.”

My heart leaps at the new endearment, and I leave it at that knowing I have nothing to worry about. I lay my head down upon his shoulder and look up at the screen to see the old movie playing in front of us, as the stars gleam above us.

I hoped you liked it!!  This was my first time officially writing for this angel, and seeing as how you’re a Dean stan I was scared of ruining this lol… So I’m sorry if he seems ooc! I was inspired to do this kind of dramatic scene after watching La La Land <3 (I have an issue with putting a bunch of song references in my writing as you can see XD)

Could I request the guys with an S/O who’s a big fan of Broadway musicals and their reactions when she asks them to go with her when she finds out her favorite show will be performing?

Let’s see how many of them end up as broadway fans themselves, shall we?

Korekiyo Shinguuji

  • You were nuts for Les Misérables, so when you heard it would be performed, you freaked
  • Of course, you had to see it, so you immediately asked your boyfriend Shinguuji to come with you
  • It did not take much convincing
  • You wouldn’t think of him as a musical guy, but he loves humans. What’s more beautiful than seeing them working their hardest to tell a story through such a memorable medium?
  • And boy were you glad you went to see it with him
  • You didn’t often get to see your boyfriend show his emotions so clearly but
  • It was like this musical bared open his soul
  • He was enraptured, and so were you
  • The actor’s voices filled the entire room with their feelings
  • When Fantine sang her iconic song, he had his hand up to cover his mouth even though he was wearing his mask as per usual
  • During the suspenseful scenes, his hand was clutched tightly around yours, and his eyes were focused intently on the stage
  • And finally, during the last song when the voices enveloped everyone in a bittersweet ending, there were tears running down both of your faces
  • Shinguuji was extremely grateful he got to see such a moving display with you. It was something he’d never forget.

Rantarou Amami

  • After a few minutes of cajoling, Amami agreed to go see Mamma Mia with you
  • He didn’t really know anything about it, but if you wanted to see a live performance so badly, who was he to refuse?
  • Plus, he liked that you described it as a “feel good musical”
  • So, off you went to the theater.
  • He even dressed up for the occasion and took off some of his jewelry!
  • What a cute dork
  • And, what do you know, he enjoyed himself very much!
  • He thought it was hilarious that sophie invited all three of her potential dads to her wedding
  • And he visibly cringed when her mom found out they were all there
  • But he loved the whole thing
  • And somehow during the course of the show
  • He memorized like, three of the songs
  • So he was singing them on the way home
  • And when you got home, he downloaded the Mamma Mia soundtrack
  • Oh dear
  • But to be honest, you were singing along with him too

Kokichi Okuma

  • Ouma did not want to go see a musical with you
  • He thought the were boring and he did not want to have anything to do with boring things
  • But finally, finally, you convinced him to go see Little Shop of Horrors with you
  • He agreed primarily because of the title
  • “As an evil supreme leader, how can I not be interested in a shop of horrors?”
  • You were just glad he agreed to go
  • Of course, when you actually arrived at the theater, you started getting nervous because what if he doesn’t like it?
  • You’ve always loved Broadway, so it would kind of stink if the person you loved didn’t want to have anything to do with it!
  • As you sat down, he winked at you, though, as if to say “you have nothing to worry about”
  • That turned out to be true!
  • He loved it.
  • He loved the giant plant, he loved the dentist’s death, he loved the ending especially.
  • He even loved the love blooming between Audrey and Seymour. He said he didn’t and that it was boring, but you could tell he was lying.
  • When the curtain rose for curtain call, he was the first person to stand up and cheer!
  • It was nice to be able to grin at him and say, “I told you so”.

Shuuichi Sahara

  • You’ve always been a huge fan of broadway, and Into the Woods was an old favorite of yours
  • After seeing Bernadette Peter’s Witch, you became hooked on theatre and musicals especially!
  • So, when you heard it would be playing nearby, you thought it would be perfect as a date for yourself and Saihara!
  • After all, you’d been wanting to share some shows with him, and what better way than to go to a live performance?
  • Plus, Into the woods seemed like a show he would enjoy. It was funny, clever, and unpredictable, but it was also sad and thought-provoking. He’d get the full experience!
  • He agreed to go with you. Why not? He was always willing to spend time with you, and he wanted to know more about the things you loved.
  • He was not prepared.
  • During the first act, he laughed along with everyone, and told you how fun the show seemed to be during the intermission!
  • And then the second act started
  • Halfway through, he whispered to you, “Is this the same show or…?
  • When the narrator died, he gave you a look as if to say, “Are they serious??”
  • It was actually pretty funny
  • He applauded enthusiastically when it ended, though
  • And he told you that even though it went in some… unexpected directions, he’d love to watch more shows with you!

Kaito Momota

  • Annie had been your favorite musical since you were a little kid
  • When you heard that there was a possibility you’d be able to see it, you begged Momota to go with you
  • He was a bit apprehensive, since he’d never actually gone to see a show before!
  • But it only took “It’s a Hard-Knock Life” and he was hooked.
  • When Annie met Sandy for the first time, he audibly gasped out loud.
  • And when she got her happy ending with Warbucks? He was sniffling like a kid with tears streaming down his face
  • What a softie
  • But you were glad. Now he understood your love for shows!
  • He wouldn’t stop talking about the show when you were on your way home
  • And he asked to watch the movie versions with you as soon as he found out there were three
  • Oh, dear
  • Well, at least he’s having fun

  • Kiibo’ll go see a musical, sure!
  • Robots can do normal things like see musicals
  • Just watch and see!! He’ll prove it!!
  • Kiibo, calm down
  • You talk to him about the general plot of the one you want to see, Hairspray
  • He’s very interested!
  • Even though he’s not black, and there aren’t enough robots for there to be institutionalized roboticism, he can identify with some of the characters’ struggles
  • And he feels sympathetic for the other struggles they deal with
  • During the show, he doesn’t really look too into it
  • But when it’s over, he’s really enthusiastic about applauding and cheering for it!
  • Then, he has a thorough discussion with you about the whole thing!
  • He even compares you to Penny, since, well. You’re dating him, despite how others see him!
  • If all musicals are as thought-provoking as this one, he’s happy to see more with you!

Gonta Gokuhara

  • Gonta didn’t even know what a musical was
  • The boy spent ten years in a forest, it’s not his fault
  • But watching people sing and dance sounded like fun! Of course Gonta wanted to see that!
  • Well, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown was being performed nearby, so you dragged him off to see it!
  • He adored it
  • He was like a kid in a candy store
  • Of course, some of the jokes flew right over his head
  • But for the most part, he was enraptured
  • He loved Snoopy a lot
  • And Sally
  • And he loved the songs
  • And the dances
  • And the scenery!
  • And the costumes!!
  • Gonta loved the whole thing!!!!!
  • He thanks you for taking him to see something so amazing!!
  • And he’s excited to see more!
  • Just wait until he finds out about the musical with giant talking bugs…

Ryouma Hoshi

  • Wicked is showing nearby
  • You see the news online and immediately turn to your boyfriend
  • “Hoshi. We’re going to see Wicked.”
  • “Um-”
  • “We’re going.”
  • “Well, okay”
  • He doesn’t even know what it is until you actually get to the theater
  • Aaaaand maybe he feels like it isn’t his thing
  • But he really doesn’t mind being there
  • After all, it’s not like it’s bad
  • And he really likes how happy you are to be there
  • Heck, if that’s how much you love them? He’ll go see them with you every day.
  • Anything for you.

  • Do not watch a movie with Ennoshita unless you want an essay on what the actors/directors/producers have done previously, facts about the way particular scenes were shot and where they were shot and how certain special effects are actually done.
  • Yachi continues to keep in contact with the graduating third years and then the second years when they eventually graduate, updating them on practices and when match times are if they wish to attend.
  • Daichi and the other third years have a trivia team for trivia nights
  • Kiyoko and Tsukishima often recommend music to each other, swapping CD’s and USB’s.
  •  Asahi and Yachi like to discuss artists they like. Sometimes they get a group together to go to the art gallery.
  • Tsukishima and Tanaka often end up trashing movies when they watch them with the rest of the team.
  • Nishinoya on occasion skateboards into school. Sometimes he pushes Hinata and Tanaka around on it. It doesn’t always end well.
  • Kinnoshita often brings in baked goods when its someones birthday.
  • Sugawara often makes obscure theater references and more often than not Ennoshita and Yamaguchi are the only ones who get them.
  • Everyone is surprised when they find out that Narita is super good with computers and technology, he’s often the one that does a lot of filming editing for Ennoshita’s projects.
  • Surprisingly Kageyama and Tsukishima are the two who get along with Natsu the best. (Next to Sugawara of course)
  • Yamaguchi is quite well read and pulls out book quotes left right and centre in conversation.
  • Yamaguchi is the best at videogames out of all the first years and Kageyama is the worst.

ok I’m still dead tired but I gotta do some sort of reaction post before I forget everything that made an impression on me. If i can find it, I’ll watch it again tomorrow, and think about it more carefully. It’ll be more relaxing to watch with subs. I plan to have a Sushi & Kyousei night in :D But I had such a good time at the theater so I gotta put something down before I go to bed.

First of all, I think getting to see it in the theater improved my reaction to it. Kyousei is mostly battle, when you get down to it. The first half is so fun, has that crazy “on the run from the government with aliens!” shtick that is so popular, I kept thinking how Digimon could easily have been X-men or the like and it’s probably to our advantage that Adventure is nothing like that. Makes Kyousei more interesting. But the second almost half is a reeeeally long battle scene. An epic, awesome battle, but in the end all one scene with a lot going on. In the theater, the sound is just so impressive, the emotion in the characters’ voices so loud and powerful… Idk, I have enjoyed all the Tri movies I’ve seen in the theater much better than when I only saw them online. So there’s something to be said for that.

Trying to remember and compile my thoughts but this is a very random stream.

  • I really enjoyed the opening scenes in the digital world with the landscape constantly changing! It was scary and hilarious at the same time.
  • I was really happy that we were SHOWN Meiko getting a new pair of glasses! I wear glasses and it always bugs me how cartoon characters whose glasses get smashed, or even just covered in rain, seem to have no trouble getting around without them. I cannot see a blessed thing without mine. If I don’t have an umbrella when it rains, I will walk into a wall. So i just really appreciated that detail xD
  • Maki is so creepy, she really seems like she’s broken inside, and she probably didn’t intentionally end up in the dark ocean… I’m curious to see what her fate is. I am certain she and Bakumon will be reunited in some fashion, but I’m kind of hoping it’s bittersweet rather than just sweet. And I want to see Daigo meet his partner again.
  • Speaking of Daigo… he was kind of hot in Kyousei. o.o I haven’t felt that way towards him before even though he’s voiced by Namikawa Daisuke xD
  • One reason to think Wizardmon is connected to Maki’s Bakumon is they both appear in similar semi-hidden positions on their respective posters. Now that I think of it, that seems very suggestive. But I’m most intrigued by the possibility I mentioned in this post.
  • In the poster for Bokura no Mirai, Hikari appears to be clinging to Taichi’s arm. Could mean nothing. They are falling after all. But given how Kyousei ended, I think it’s a hint that Hikari’s story is far from done, so those of you who were disappointed about how she was handled, I get it, and I think you should expect to see much more developments with her in movie 6. Think of movie 5 as a red herring. Of course, I can’t guarantee you’ll like her developments…
  • In addition… was anyone else creeped out by the way Hikari said “I have to be with my brother”? Or however they translated it? Why? Why does she need to do that? I would expect her to express love and need for Taichi, sure… but the way it goes down here is… creepy. Aside from what actually happens to her. Is it possible… this is going out on a limb, but is it possible that all the way back in the very first Digimon movie, Homeostasis imprinted Hikari with something and Taichi either was chosen as or became simply by virtue of being close to her a seal that kept a lid on it? Yet another sort of symbiotic relationship? Total speculation based solely on hikari’s creepiness.
  • I really did love the battle, to my surprise. It was long but I was so into it. Seraphimon was hella cool in it, as were the others.
  • Takeru was hysterical in the ghost stories scene. Yamato was too, but Takeru… he was just killin it. Also enjoyed how Yamato didn’t want to take the phone from Takeru… clearly he still has issues with his mom.
  • The scene where the Digimon watch Taichi talk to Meiko and get all gossipy!! That was so cute and ridiculous. I love how they’ve all become such huge fans of their newfound partners.
  • The fact that the Digimon have lost their memories had no bearing on this movie. That was weird. It ought to matter. In particular, I had predicted it would matter a lot for Tailmon, but nope. Nothing. Maybe next movie? That and lack of development for Hikari were my complaints for this movie, along with the pace being a little off but unfortunately that’s what is to be expected with an anime movie budget at this point in the storyline.
  • Raguelmon’s design was meh to me at first, but after a while I got into it. The Evangelion-wannabe that appeared at the end was not at all what I was expecting and majorly cool. I know it leaves us with a lot of questions, but I love that, it drives me up the wall wanting to know, and I am so looking forward to movie 6. I don’t mind at all that in the end Ophanimon didn’t do much :P
  • Loved every teeny scene with Jou and Mimi! and Takeru and Hikari! Was thirsting for more Koushirou though.
  • Meiko’s emotional crisis really moved me. I felt like she became a team member at last. Really contrasts with how Takeru worried about her being such a “normal girl” in the previous movie.
  • Taichi is so good in a crisis. So fricking good.
  • And the way he comforted Meiko. The questions he struggles with. His realism. His banter with his mom. Right before saying that they should kill Meicoomon as Meiko said, he thought about overhearing her express sadly and brokenly how much she loves Meicoomon. And yet he made that decision. The reason? He knew it was not made lightly, and that Meiko and Meicoomon’s suffering was extremely deep. He tried his best to take her every feeling into account to be sure she could accept this reality.
  • On that note, though. I really think the reason Meiko ran off like that at the end was because she intended to die with Meicoomon. Yamato being the quick protective type he is immediately rushed after her. Taichi, being more goal-oriented, took a beat to follow. I can easily believe that Yamato would be the one to key in to Meiko’s distress, while Taichi would key into her resolve.
  • The ending went very fast. I was on the edge of my seat in the theater. As soon as the ground split between Yamato and Taichi, I knew it was time for the foreshadowed “Death” XD I’m sure none of us believe Taichi is really dead, but I’m so psyched to see where he is and what will go down between him and Daigo. And Taichi sending Omegamon to save Yamato and Meiko was so cool. And Yamato deciding his role now is to see Taichi’s goals through and taking his goggles was amazing. It was all too fast and not as nicely animated as I would have liked (though the Taichi running on falling rocks scene reminding me of Legolas in Battle of the Five Armies xP). But it was awesome.

I am incredibly excited for the last movie, though it will be bittersweet because I’ve enjoyed Tri to pieces these past couple years. Digimon is such a gift.

Same, Cas. Same.

Lizbob was laughing at me earlier because I’m in the middle of this seemingly long stretch of episodes that involve Major Fandom Disagreements. And this is one of them. Because of this ^^

“ I managed to walk off the roof by accident ”

dear all of you who feel like love will never find you, or that it’s doomed to fail, or that you are undeserving, or anything along these lines,

i want to tell you a story. this story is mine. it’s a little long,  it starts about 7 years ago with a high schooler, just 14, with her first “boyfriend.” this boy asked her out at lunch, she said yes! there was no kissing. they “dated” at school only. he broke up with her the first day after winter break. she cried in the next class to a close friend.

4 months later, she met a boy at a friend’s bat mitzvah and he was really interested. he asked her on her first date! it was to the movies. they watched “water for elephants” in theaters and when he reached for her hand, she felt butterflies like she’d never known. he was her first kiss. (tbh, it was sloppy, but it counts..) he went to a school 45 minutes away, so they were “long distance.” he went a soccer camp for 3 weeks and didn’t text her. she wasn’t hurt by this at all and decided because she wasn’t missing him she shouldn’t waste his time and they decided to be friends. that friendship never really happened. she knows he’s doing well though, and that is plenty.

another few months pass and she really likes a boy. he’s a little more popular so she knows it won’t go anywhere. then he asks her in november. they date, like actual dates! she never meets his parents but he meets hers. she thought this one meant something, until he dumped her at lunch that january. she cried. a lot. she started to notice that boys just don’t really stay, do they?

now it’s october. her best guy friend asks her out with flowers. she agrees. two weeks in she confesses to her friends she thinks she made a mistake..they tell her, “hold out a little longer!” she does. she catches feelings and everything is wonderful, or so she thinks. you see, this girl was very innocent. this boy pushed her to her very limits and took most of her innocence away, leaving her a very battered, physically traumatised 17 year old. then the emotional abuse began. he wasn’t mean, or violent, just neglectful. gaslighting was his common tactic. she lost a lot of weight stress-starving, crying every day, afraid to lose him as he slowly “vanished”. the last month she watched him flirt with what would be his next girlfriend, in front of her in classes! she dumped him two weeks after prom, after about 7 months. he mocked her during that conversation and she slapped him. she cried and cried for days but by two months later, she really didn’t miss him anymore. but that was another boy, down the drain, taking much of her body with him. she vowed no boy would take the last thing she had left, she wouldn’t sleep with them.

she then dates his best friend. unintentionally a heartless move, it didn’t last long. he broke up with her after about two months. it’s okay, it only hurt her for another two or so, but this is what, 5 boys? she’s really feeling awful about her chances with guys. her friends joke sometimes that she doesn’t pick very well. that really sticks with her, and she starts to believe it herself.

her friend tries to set her up in senior year with a cute football player from another school, but when he found out she was abstinent, he said it wouldn’t work. she didn’t blame him. they stayed friends. in fact, she’s friends with the last 3 that didn’t work out. it’s always easier to forgive, she’s discovered, as she fights her own shame every day.

right before graduating another boy comes on the scene, becomes her prom date, and starts a summer fling. she sneaks over to his house a few times and stays the night. one time they got caught, but his dad honestly thought it was so funny they didn’t get in trouble. they went on dates. she had a car now, they could go places. it was a fun summer. she was going to a college 2 states away though, 400 miles/650km. he promised to come see her at 5am before she left for school. he didn’t show. she cried herself to sleep in the car. he broke up with her over twitter DMs a few days later. she pined for him for 5 months.

by this time she decided she was done with boys. the first 18 months of college she didn’t date, just made friends, rejected any advances. it was good for her, it gave her time for herself to grow. she decided to study abroad, something she wouldn’t have done if she had a boyfriend or was dating someone.

she went to australia from the usa, almost 10,000 miles, for 4.5 months. she made new friends, she drunkenly kissed several boys in her dorm, but she lived. she stopped looking at intimacy as something to be ashamed of. and, for the first time, she fell in crazy, wild love with a boy from that dorm, a boy who lived in that country, and he fell in love with her too. she gave herself to him, fully, and for once, she wasn’t scared, or ashamed, and she had no regret. the last night she was in that country he confessed how he felt, and they cried, thinking there was no way, no possible way they could make it work across the planet. she flew home, distraught, and he remained, heartbroken. they kept talking, over facebook, flirting. they started calling, and videochatting, every day, sometimes twice, for hours. two days after she returned home he found out that he could afford a trip to see her. ten days after she left, he dropped nearly two thousand dollars to fly across the planet, to a country he’d never been to, to stay with her. she cried, but for once, it was tears of joy. one month after she left, he asked her to be his girlfriend. she accepted.

4.5 months later he landed at an airport in her city and they spent two glorious months together with her family and friends. he brought her a birthday present, a promise ring with their names and birthstones. they celebrated their six month anniversary a few days before he had to go home. two weeks after he left, she bought her roundtrip to see him.

i leave for that trip in 25 days. we’ve been together over 10 months. we’ll be celebrating our one year anniversary together, right before i leave to return to the USA. and next february, i’m returning, for good, for graduate school. we’re planning to move in together. we both talk about the future together, and can’t imagine it without each other. don’t get me wrong, it’s hard. some days we cry on the phone because distance hurts like nothing i’ve ever known. but it’s worth it, because true love waits, in the fullest sense of the word.

if there’s anything to learn from this story, it’s that love will find you. somehow, some way, oftentimes in the most unexpected way. for me, it took me across the entire world to find my soulmate. don’t give up just because one, five, fifteen boys don’t work out. love finds you. i promise.

- someone who had nearly lost hope, but now believes in miracles

I saw this on Reddit, thought it was pretty interesting! They were in the theatre when James Holmes started shooting. A pretty scary vision of what it was like to be there during the shooting. RIP to all of the victims.

“I survived a mass shooting at a movie theater.”

“It was the summer of 2012. My longtime boyfriend and I had recently gotten married. Even though we were dirt poor college students and lived in a dinky apartment, we were having a blast. That particular summer we gathered with our friends at the local movie theater almost every weekend. There was one just down the street from our apartment that had really cheap movie tickets. A night out that was under $10 was certainly within our budget! Anyway, one Thursday night I received a call from this group of friends inviting us to watch the midnight premiere of the newest Batman movie. I had just finished working a 12 hour shift and was pretty tired. I almost refused the invitation and thought of crashing in my apartment instead. However, I didn’t want to miss out on the fun, and it was a movie I’d wanted to see for a while anyway. Certainly it wouldn’t do any harm to stay up later than usual and miss a few hours of sleep, right?

At 10:30 PM we met at the theater. We passed large cardboard cut-outs of Catwoman and Batman as we walked inside, greeted by the smell of buttery popcorn and the chatter of excited movie goers. The ticket booth was to the right of the entrance, and just above that was an electronic list of movies being played. The 12:00 AM showing of the Dark Knight Rises was displayed up there in bright red letters. Being paranoid that the tickets would sell out quickly, one of my friends swung by earlier that day and purchased tickets for all of us. We bypassed the ticket line and went straight to the ticket taker. She smiled at us and kindly directed us to Theater 9, which was on the right side of the lobby.

If only I had known what I do now. That among the crowds a killer was lurking. That as I walked across that tacky red and purple carpet towards Theater 9, I could have been walking to my death. I would have turned around in that instant and gone home. I would never have gone to see the movie at all. But, of course, I had no way of knowing what was about to happen. Oblivious to the peril I was putting myself in; I pushed open the doors for Theater 9 without giving it a second thought.

The hallway in this theater was shaped like a U and you could go either right or left. Theater 9 was the largest screening room in the building, perfect for accommodating the crowds that midnight premieres brought in. The screen was motionless and gray; not even the previews had started yet because there was still a good hour and a half to go until the movie actually started. We entered on the right side, so all of the seats were to our left. I remember being surprised at just how packed the theater already was. Just about every seat was filled, much to our dismay. At first it seemed like we wouldn’t find a spot to sit together. Now, the way this theater was set up, there was a section of seats right in front of the screen. This area was flat, and there were about five rows of seating in this section. A lot of seats in that section were empty, but sitting right in front of the movie screen sucks and none of us wanted to sit there. One of my friends then spotted a row with five empty seats all next to each other, perfect for the amount of people we had. These seats were about 3-4 rows up from where the seating rows start to elevate. We ran up the stairs before someone could take the seats and filed in. My husband, Brock, sat in the 5th seat. I sat next to him, and my friend Samantha sat next to me on my right side. Her boyfriend, Tommy, sat next to her, and another friend named Leo sat in the aisle seat.

We spent the next several minutes casually chatting, joking around, and laughing. After a while my three friends went to the lobby to buy drinks and that addicting movie theater popcorn. While they were gone, Brock and I passed the time by people watching. The theater was bright since the lights weren’t dimmed yet, and I could see everyone clearly. There were a lot of people dressed in Batman T-shirts and hoodies. One person even had a mask and one of those shirts with an attached cape. There were a lot of kids in attendance as well, which wasn’t surprising because, even though it was a Thursday night, it was summer vacation so that meant no school the next day. Of all the people I saw, the person I will never forget was the little girl sitting in our same row a few chairs away. She was really cute, blond with blue eyes, and passed us several times on her way to the lobby, each time coming back with various snacks and popcorn. Overall, people seemed very excited to see the movie, and the room was filled with energy and laughter.

After what seemed like an eternity of waiting, the lights started to dim and the previews began. Just like every movie I’ve seen before, a quick animation flashed across the screen reminding us to get refreshments from the lobby (we were already devouring that popcorn like ravenous animals), to silence our cell phones, and to make sure we know where the emergency exits are. The animation had this ugly CGI cat in a tuxedo that was sitting in a movie theater. I casually glanced at the bright green emergency exit signs that were on the left and right sides of the movie screen. I didn’t think much of the reminder, like usual. After that, I only remember one preview for the Man of Steel, the others I’m not sure what they were about. When the movie started the theater erupted into cheering and clapping. The title of the movie, The Dark Knight Rises, exploded onto the screen. This was followed by the scene where Bane is hijacking a plane. I thought this scene was pretty cool and it caught my interest right away. Only when the movie started to get a little less interesting did I remember just how tired I was. I decided I would close my eyes at the more boring parts to get a little bit of rest. I had been awake for 20 hours at that point, so I was rightfully sleepy. My eyes were closed for most of the duration of Batman and Catwoman’s encounter. I don’t really remember what was going on in that part of the movie (perhaps some of you have seen it and know what I’m talking about.) Anyway, when I opened my eyes again Bruce Wayne was on his computer digging up information on Catwoman. This is the last scene I saw. I never got to watch the rest of the movie.

All of a sudden, a loud BANG erupted from the left side of the theater. I sort of screamed a little because it startled me. A strange smell started to fill the auditorium. It was like the smell of a firework, so I thought it was a cherry bomb or something similar. Had someone thrown fireworks into the crowd as a prank? Then, down near the right sight of the movie screen, the dark silhouette of a person caught my attention. They were just a black frame against the bright movie screen. A series of flashing lights was coming from this person. It was a weird moment where time literally slowed down and everything went strangely quiet. I was completely frozen, unable to move and really unable to think at all. It was like my brain had stopped working entirely.

Brock caught on immediately to what was happening and he grabbed me. He pulled me to the ground and lay on top of me, shielding me with his own body. At this point time and sound returned to me. I could hear the gunshots ringing out across the theater. People were screaming. The movie was still playing on top of it all, creating a chaotic explosion of sound. I realized the flashing lights I had seen were bullets flying out of a gun barrel. An instant sensation of adrenaline flooded my body. There was absolutely nothing I could do except lay there and hope to God that the bullets I heard ripping through seats and walls wouldn’t go through me, too. At one point shrapnel hit my head, cutting off a good chunk of my hair, and as I reached for the spot to make sure it wasn’t bleeding hot pieces of metal fell into my hand.

I was lying face up, so I could see everything that was happening. The lights from a still-playing movie danced across the ceiling and walls. My friends were on the floor with me. Our unfinished bucket of popcorn was spilled all across the floor. Leo had his legs sticking out into the aisle because there wasn’t enough room for him to hide completely behind the seats. At some point Samantha’s water bottle, which had been in the cup holder between our seats, exploded. Water splashed all over my face. The smell of gun smoke was overwhelming. Riot grade tear gas made me cry and caused me to cough uncontrollably. There was another smell, too; the horrible metallic smell of blood that I’ll never forget. I remember my lower body feeling wet all of a sudden. For some reason I thought this came from the leaking water bottle, but I soon realized this wasn’t the case.

All of a sudden things went strangely quiet. The bullets had stopped for some reason. Tommy shouted “LET’S GET OUT OF HERE!” We took advantage of the opportunity and made a run for it. We ran down the stairs, across the front of the screen towards a bright green EXIT sign. We crammed into a small, closet-like space where the door was. It was so dark we had a hard time finding it. We were screaming and slamming on the walls to find the door, blinded by the tear gas and dumbfounded by shock. Then, finally, my hands felt the metal door handle and I pushed against it with all my strength. The door flew open and the light of a nearby streetlight flooded our eyes. We pushed against the door so hard that we all fell over onto the concrete. Samantha lost her pink flip flops just outside this doorway.

As I scrambled to my feet and literally ran for my life, I realized my legs were red; absolutely soaked with blood. It was like I dipped my legs into a bath tub full of it. I checked my body all over and realized I wasn’t injured at all. Where had this blood come from? I looked behind me and realized that the blood was my husband’s. He had been shot in the leg. A massive, gaping hole had ripped through the lower half of Brock’s right leg. His foot was barely hanging on and dangled lifelessly. Leo and a young man I didn’t recognize were carrying Brock because, after falling outside the door, he lost all his strength and he couldn’t walk. I was completely shocked. I had no idea he had been injured, especially since he was right behind me the whole time and managed to escape the theater all by himself. How he did it on one foot, I’ll never know.

At this point I screamed. My scream was so loud that it alerted nearby construction workers. At the back of the theater there was a narrow parking lot, followed by a grassy lawn and then the street beyond that. The construction workers were doing road repair on this street, but as soon as they heard my scream and saw us running they stopped working and watched what was going on. I’m not sure why this is such a vivid part of my memory. Anyway, they carried Brock along the back sidewalk all the way to the end, where the corner of the building is. This was quite a distance, several dozen feet. My husband then collapsed from exhaustion and pain, saying he couldn’t move anymore. He lay down and a puddle of blood started to form beneath him. I looked back, and realized we had left a trail of blood leading from the door all the way to our current position.

I was trembling. I knelt beside Brock and glanced around to see who else was injured. Tommy had been shot in the knee and the hip, and was further away in the parking lot. The teenager who helped my husband was also injured. His dad and mom were with him; his mom was sitting against the wall and looked like she was going to pass out. She was bleeding from several places. That family escaped at the same time we did. I guess they heard the bullets stop and decided to make a run for it, too. We were all lucky, because the shooting was still going on inside.

I had to take off my shirt and use it to stop the bleeding. I’ll never forget how lifeless and limp his leg felt, and I imagined that’s what a dead body must feel like. I got blood all over my hands and arms. The police showed up really, really fast. I’d say we were only outside for a minute or two before the red and blue sirens filled the night and rushed to our location (we were literally a block away from the police station). A female officer stood by us the whole time until paramedics arrived, which took a very long time.

Brock was one of the last to be taken to a hospital. He was bleeding out for almost twenty minutes before an ambulance pulled up on the same street with the road work. At this point he had become almost unresponsive and was on the verge of unconsciousness. Several massive guys rushed across the grass with a stretcher, loaded him onto it, and then ran with him back to the waiting ambulance. I wasn’t able to go with him because there was another injured person in the ambulance, and it was too crowded. I wandered around to the front of the theater alone, unsure of where my friends had went. My blood stained shirt and a pool of blood were left behind on the corner of that sidewalk.

Walking through the crowds felt like a dream. I couldn’t believe what just happened. People were in hysterics and crying. A lot of people such as me were covered in blood. And, like me, I’m pretty sure the blood staining their skin and clothes wasn’t their own. A lot of people seemed to notice how lonely and dazed I looked, so they kept me company and even offered me a ride to different hospitals to find Brock, because I hadn’t been told what hospital he was taken to. I hung around these people for a while as police swarmed the area and asked us what we saw inside the theater. The whole parking lot was on lockdown, and we weren’t going to be allowed to leave any time soon. It was around 2:00 AM, so it was very dark outside still (and I was pretty cold, wearing only an undershirt and shorts). The flashing red and blue lights of what seemed like 100 police cars were blinding. I remember seeing a big police vehicle pull up that said something like “Crime Scene Investigation Unit” on it. I think that’s when it really sank in and hit me. I started to get sick to my stomach and wanted to vomit, but somehow I was able to hold it back.

Eventually, police started letting people leave. I jumped into my truck and booked it out of there. I was going 90-100 MPH through red lights and residential areas without even slowing down. Stupid, I know, but I was desperate to learn the fates of Brock and Tommy. I was in such a panic that I didn’t even think to go back to my apartment, grab my cell phone (which I had forgotten) and call my parents or someone else to help me! I was angry, upset, scared, and most of all still in a state of shock. Was I really going to lose Brock only a month shy of our first wedding anniversary because of some psychopath with a gun? Thankfully, by the time dawn rolled around I found the hospital he was treated in. This was in the next city over, maybe 45 minutes from the theater if you’re going the speed limit. I was so happy to be there, and the hospital staff were all so welcoming and understanding. After making sure I wasn’t injured as well, they let me wait in the ICU room that Brock would be placed in when he was done recovering from surgery. I was so glad he was alive. Brock and Tommy both had survived, though many others weren’t so lucky.

I found out the following day (after some much needed sleep on a hospital couch) that 12 people were killed in this shooting and over 70 were injured (I remember they first thought 15 people were killed, but the real number was 12). The little blond girl sitting in my row did not survive. She died in the theater no more than a few feet from us. She had been shot multiple times. A heart broken police officer, who cried during his court testimony, tried unsuccessfully to save her by carrying her out of the theater and having her sent to a hospital. Tommy was rushed to a different hospital in the back of a police car. He underwent surgery and made a full recovery. The bullet missed his hip bone and narrowly missed his urinary tract and bladder. According to the surgeons, my husband lost almost half his blood. Brock made it to the hospital just in time; any later and he would have died. He underwent several blood transfusions and was in the hospital for 21 days. The wound to his leg was severe enough that they had to amputate it after trying unsuccessfully to save it.

It’s been so long since the shooting happened that my husband, friends, and I have been able to recover from it somewhat. The event was pretty horrifying and has left us scarred for sure. I wouldn’t consider that part of the story to be creepy, though. No, the creepy part is the shooter himself. I later learned much about him from the murder trial that would follow in the coming years. Though my encounter with this man was very brief, he has affected my life greatly. Just to know that people like this exist…is disturbing. He is certainly one twisted individual that I never want to see again.

I learned everything from watching the televised trial that took place in early 2015. This guy was going to school for neuroscience or something in California. I guess he was a pretty smart guy. However, for some reason he had an obsession with killing people and had a stalker mentality. After dropping out of his university, he moved to my state and chose my local theater to commit a mass shooting. Before that, he was planning on hiding along remote hiking trails up in the mountains, jumping people, pulling them into the woods and killing them there, though he never went through with that idea. He stalked my theater for months and had this shooting all planned out for the night of July 20th. Though I never saw him before this, its unnerving to think this guy could have been watching us every time we went to the theater, and we would have never known it. We were completely unaware of what he had planned against us. This completely ruined my sense of security, because who knows what the stranger next to you is planning on doing to you.

I came very close to the shooter, but I never actually saw his face in person until I was forced to testify in court. Of course I saw his mug shots on television, but while in the theater I only saw him as a dark silhouette in the shadows, like a demonic figure rendered from the darkest and most sinister nightmare. He was even in the hallway that we passed upon running for the emergency exit. The only thing stopping him from killing us there and then was his jammed assault rifle. To commit this crime, he ordered a few thousand rounds of ammunition, riot gear and armor, tear gas, an assault rifle, and a shotgun. He took pictures of himself, which were shown in court, wearing all of this gear like some sick trophy and holding up these weapons with a menacing smile. He dyed his hair orange and put in these creepy black contacts while making devilish faces into his camera, something that made me sick just looking at. Before driving to the theater with all of this gear in his car, he booby trapped his entire apartment and set it to explode if anyone opened the door. Then, once at the theater, he posed as a movie goer and even bought a ticket for the movie. I think his ticket had Theater 8 on it, which was next door, but Theater 9 had more people in it so he went into number 9 instead. He was in the few front rows. I must have passed him several times in the lobby while he was there. Maybe he had seen me, too. At some point during the movie, he got up and went through the side exit (which didn’t have an alarm for some reason), kept it propped open with something, then went to his car to put on all his armor and grabbed his weapons. Then, he came back inside and started shooting. When we escaped the theater, we ran past his white car which was parked right at the exit. We didn’t even notice it. At some point he came outside, and he would have seen us there on the concrete. I don’t know what stopped him from shooting people that were outside, too, but he could have easily ended us there and then if he wanted to.”

This GIF is mine. I made it based off of this scenario series.

It was noon. You decided that this time was the best time to try and call Jungkook. You chose this time because chances were, he was taking a break and is probably about to eat. You type the phone number in, but before you press “talk” you take a deep breath and try to collect yourself before coming of as a nervous idiot.

You called the number and after 3 dial tones a guy pick up. It sounded like Jungkook! When you hear him ask “Hello?”, out of nerves you respond with, “Hello? Who is this?”. He responds with, “This is Jungkook… Who are you and how did you get this number?”

You hold your breath again and try to not scream into the phone. You did your best to speak again without sounding weird. “Um, Hi. This is Y/n. I met you at the fan signing. I had seen a number on the back of my poster and I decided to call it… I’m sorry if this is weird! I don’t want to freak you out. I’ll just let you go.”

“Wait!”, he let out a nervous laugh. Don’t worry, you aren’t freaking me out. I’m really happy you called! I was really nervous that you weren’t going to see what I wrote on the back of the poster. Then I got a bit scared that if you did see it, you weren’t going to call because you thought the number was fake… or that you didn’t want to talk to me.”

After getting past the awkward introduction, he tells you he actually got the afternoon off from practice. You two begin talking, like in actual conversation!  You start talking about how your days are going so far and some other superficial stuff. After about an hour and a half of talking Jungkook asks you out on a date, so you two can talk in person. Obviously you say yes! He’s your ultimate bias for crying out loud!

“Really?!? You’ll go on a date with me?!?” he asked in disbelief. “but I have to warn you. we would have to meet really late at night and on a weekday… if you still want to meet it would also be best that you hide your face when we meet. Like, wear a beanie and a scarf or something…”

Despite all this, you still agreed to go on the date with him. He decided on you two going on a movie date because there will be less of a chance for you two to be seen.

For your date with Jungkook you wore your cutest dress and a matching pair of shoes. You debated on whether to not you should go all out with your make-up or keep things simple, because he wasn’t really going to see much of your face anyway. You took a look at the clock. You were already running late! You took too long choosing an outfit that you were forced to go with a simpler make-up. Then you grabbed a scarf and a beanie like he advised.

You met Jungkook behind the theater, where he told you he’d be waiting. As you walked closer to him you could see he was wearing a jean jacket, black jeans, a beanie and was covering his face with a mask. He happened to look over in your direction. When he saw you he pulled his mask down and he gave you a, “Hello Beautiful!”, along with that cute smile of his. He kind of blushed and he got nervous when he realized what he just said, but then he quickly tried to regain himself. You couldn’t help but blush and try and hide your face from him again.

“Aww, you look so cute when you get shy like that, but please don’t cover your face!” he said gently moving your hands away from your face. “I’m glad you could meet me! But I feel bad that we have to meet like this… I’m sorry, but you’re gonna have to go buy us the tickets and the popcorn. I don’t want anybody to recognize me. Don’t worry I pay for everything!” he said, handing you the money.

“Don’t worry about it! I figured that things would be this way. The last thing I want is for you to get in trouble with your company or with armies. I just surprised that we are actually meeting in a public place… or actually meeting at all…” you said reassuringly.

When you bought the tickets you ran back and gave him his and told his to save a spot for you in the theater. You went off to get in line to buy the food. After getting the food, you ran to the theater and looked out for his beanie. You spotted him way in the back, right under the projector. When you got to him, he apologized again about things being this way. Once again, you reassured him you were okay with everything.

The movie in general was great. But being with Jungkook was amazing! He was really cute throughout the whole date. He would find excuses to hold your hand and would whisper little comments to you throughout the whole movie. Things like, “You know ‘so and so’ actor was in ‘so and so’ movie.”, “I bet if Rap Monster was in this movie, he would have dropped the bomb by now!”, “Is it just me or are you way prettier than the actresses in the movie?”

After the movie he told you, “I had a lot of fun seeing you, Y/n! Um, originally I wanted us to go out to eat, but it seems pretty late already.” He sounded a bit disappointed. It was already past midnight at this point. His phone buzzed and he said it was a text from his manager, that he was already here to pick him up. You were surprised to hear his manager was here. You thought maybe they would not have let him even go on a date with you, let alone bring him to the date!

You gave him a small bye as you saw him step away from you and go towards the parking lot. You turned around to head home, but he called you before you could take another step. “Um, Y/n… Considering how this date went, would you want to go on another date?”. Immediately you said yes! “ha, that’s great! But I was thinking the next date should be a bit different. If it’s okay with you, would you want to have a date with me at the BTS dorm? I’m sacred fans will see us if we go out in public again. If you still want to come, you’d have to arrive with your face covered again. Don’t worry, the other members shouldn’t be there. It’ll just be you and me, we could just watch movies and play video games…”

You didn’t answer him right away. You weren’t too excited about the whole thing. You were relieved that the other members wouldn’t be there, but you were even more nervous about it for the same reason. You looked up at him and he stood anxiously, waiting for your answer. You gave him a smile, “How can I say ‘no’ to Jungkook?”. A smile grew on his face and gave you a small hug out of excitement. Then you two said your good-byes. You walked away, you looked back to wave bye and watched as he headed to the manager’s car.

Over the next few days, you both texted back and forth regularly whenever Jungkook had free time. The more you two talked, the more of a flirt he was with you. He was still cute, but he was coming off as more of a flirt.

On the day of the dorm date, he texted you the address to his dorm and told you to show up at around 11. When you arrived at the door, you knocked and were greeted by a grinning Kookie. He gave you a quick hug and pulled you in the dorm as if he were smuggling something in.

You couldn’t help but feel awkward as you entered the BTS dorm. It was weird that it was just you two. You didn’t really know what to say. You took a quick look around the dorm as Jungkook helped you take off your jacket. “Wow! This place is huge!” you said.

The living room was twice that size of yours. The kitchen and living room were separate by a breakfast bar. The kitchen was beautiful and just as spacious as the living room. There was enough space for them to have a large table in there too.

“Yeah, this place is pretty big. It wasn’t like this a few years ago. Before, this was a regular apartment and we all had to share rooms. Then the company had enough money and they bought out the apartment next door. We used that one to make one big apartment. So now we each have our own rooms.”

He brought you over to the couch and started putting the movie on. As the intro was playing he turned off the lights and went into the kitchen to go bring some snacks. When he came back, he sat right next to you.

You asked him what movie it was and he said it was a scary movie. Unfortunately, you weren’t a lover of horror films and never heard of the movie before. This made you more scared because you didn’t know what to expect.

As the movie intensified and you grew more and more scared. You were too engulfed in the movie to notice that Jungkook moved himself closer and closer to you. At one point you slightly took noticed and he claimed he can “protect you”, but then you got distracted by a jump scare and hid yourself in his arms. Halfway into the movie he already had one arm wrapped around you and the other hand on your thigh.

At the most intense part of the movie, the door to the dorm swung open. You automatically let out a really loud scream. Someone turned on the lights, revealing the rest of the BTS members bunched up at the entrance. They were all staring awkwardly at you and Jungkook.

Jungkook immediately paused the movie and you jumped off the couch. Jungkook stood up in front of you and introduced you to the rest of the members. They still looked confused and you further introduce yourself, “Um, hi! You might not remember me, but I was at the fan meeting a few weeks ago at your last concert…”.  They all looked back at Jungkook, then back at you and said “oh okay” and they all dispersed to their respective rooms.

Jin and V gave you a cute little wave as they passed you. Suga gave you a sleepy head nod as he stumbled to his room. Rap monster and Jhope were too busy whispering to each other to acknowledge you. Jimin was subtly glaring at you. He was scanning you up and down as he walked past you and to his room.

After that embarrassing and awkward introduction, Jungkook led you back to the couch to see the rest of the movie. You two didn’t exactly go back into the same position you were previously. It took almost the rest of the movie for Jungkook to get back to having his arm around you. With the guys now over, you were pretty paranoid and you felt really awkward about it now. You felt more aware of everything now that the rest of BTS was back at the dorm.

At the end of the movie you told Jungkook that you were really sleepy and thought that it was time you go back home. He said “Fine, I guess I’ll let you go home now, but you have to let me go with you to the first floor. I want to see you as much as I can before you have to leave!”

You blushed again and agreed to his proposition. He helped you gather your things and fixed your scarf to cover enough of your face. Then, he walked with you to the elevator with his arm wrapped around you.

When the elevator doors opened, he pulled you to one of the corners, so that he was able to lean at the corner and hug you from behind. At this point you were basically a dead fangirl. You were already holding your breath from the entire walk from his door to the elevator, now you were just dead from all the feelings. You were relieved that he couldn’t see how red your face was getting.

Since the BTS dorm was on the highest floor, the elevator ride lasted a good while. Every second was heaven to you. Half way down, Jungkook whispered into your ear, “You smell really nice!”. You froze. How was all this even possible? This was a dream come true. Never in a million years did you think you’d go to a BTS concert, meet your bias, go on a date with your bias, go on a second date at the dorm, and be getting a back hug from him. This was all too good to be true.

“So, um, Y/n. Next week we are going to have a party to celebrate the tour being over. It’s going to be here in the dorm. Do you want to come?”, he whispered into your ear.  You were still in shock over this whole situation. It took you a while to process what was going on and it took you even longer to decide whether you wanted to come over again after you embarrassed yourself in front of the other guys. You were also scared that the guys all got a bad impression from you, especially Jimin. Plus, your place was pretty far away from the dorm.

Jungkook noticed you taking your time to answer him again. He soon became impatient and playfully said, “If you don’t give me an answer by the time we get to the first floor, this invitation will be revoked!”

You gave a little gasp and said, “YES! I’ll come for the party. Don’t you remember that I can’t say no to you!”. Out of excitement he gave you a quick squeeze.

When to elevator finally reached the first floor, he turned you around, pulled down your scarf, and gave you a kiss. You were so in beyond in shock, you just stood there looking up at him and blushing extra hard. He pinched your cheeks and told you it was time to get off. You still didn’t move, so he ever so gently pushed you towards the doors saying “Goodnight, I can’t wait to see you next week Y/N”

About half an hour later, you were back at your place. You honestly had no idea how you got yourself home. You were on too much of a love high to process what was going on. You still can’t believe that any of that actually happened. You were to in shock to fall asleep. All you did was replay everything in your head.

I will try posting the next part tomorrow.

Kollywood Rec List

I keep seeing people’s lists and everyone has such different tastes!

Personally, I fall hard for the stereotypical average audience-geared action/romance/comedies, but occasionally those films with an artistic touch pull me in, so this list is a balance of both.

Also, most of the movies on this list are newer, so I guess it’s good for starters or just people wanting a general taste. However I did include some “iconic” films so all those references make sense :)

Shoutout to the anon! I’m barely scratching the surface here.

Updated June 26 2017

Smart Action

Thupakki: just because a military man is on holiday, doesn’t mean he takes a break off work.

Thaandavam: a blind man’s revenge (the only revenge movie/arranged marriage movie I care about)

Arima Nambi: what happens when your average guy (as average as heroes can get, at least) finds out a politician is up to no good

Ko: one of my favourite movies, basically centers on the responsibility of a journalist and how the world sees itself through his camera

Kaththi: the film that really brought the plight of our farmers to light. Action with heart.

Thought Provoking

Vaayai Moodi Pesavum: you listen more to the people in your life when you can’t talk

Kadhalil Sothupuvathu Eppadi: same director as VMP, this one has a focus on romantic relationships
Nanban*: remake of the Bollywood film 3 Idiots, almost scene-to-scene identical.
Kaaka Muttai: finally, a movie about slums & poverty that isn’t white-saviour porn. It’s a cute and happy film about two slum kids who want to buy a pizza. This later won an award at TIFF.

Mariyaan: only here just to prove our cinema’s technical/artist talent, one of the most visually appealing films out there
Raja Rani: the only other arranged marriage movie I care about
O Kadhal Kanmani: a very tactfully done movie on the mystery that is a live-in relationship - especially in India.

A tip for Kollywood films: if it’s called an “epic romance”, everybody’s going to die and you’ll be sad.

Historical Fiction

Madrasapattinam: romance between a clothes washer and the daughter of a British governor.
Kaaviyathalaivan: follows the tales of two men in a theater troupe in British India. It’s sad. Very sad.
Raavanan (inspired by the epic Ramayanam

and of course, Baahubali parts 1 & 2, the pride and joy of South Indian Cinema (a fictional story inspired by various aspects of history & mythology, basically if you want a feel for what historical fiction is like without having to know anything this is a good movie. It also has the structure of a masala telugu film which is interesting).

Please for the love of god avoid all these random horror movies that have cropped up recently, the only good one is Pizza because of the plot twist at the end, and Maya since it’s a heroine-driven film.

Classics (now some of you will yell at me for putting post-2010 films on here but it’s mostly about the actors)

Vijay: Ghilli (good example of a masala film, everyone’s favourite), Kushi (romance - the kind where you’re yelling JUST TALK IT OUT ALREADY), Sachein (just.. watch it and smile), Thullatha Manamum Thullum (the title means ‘even the heart that doesn’t jump will jump’ and it’s a perfect title because it will make you cry and put you back together)

Kamal Haasan: Dasavatharam (it’s about biowar with the backdrop of religion), Vishwaroopam (the only film about muslims and terrorism I actually care about, really well done), Uttamavillain (basically the concept of the artist being mortal while the art itself is immortal), Anbe Sivam (watch watch watch), Vasool Raja MBBS (since all of these are so serious, this one’s a comedy)

Rajinikanth: just watch everything? tbh? this man is like the Beyonce of music  or Chuck Norris of hollywood action or whatever cultural epic icon you can think of. But Padayappa for sure since it has one of the most iconic villains of all time.

Suriya: Ghajini (later remade in Hindi, it’s a revenge movie about a businessman with memory loss), Silinu Oru Kaadhal (romance between an arranged couple and one later finds out he had a previous love, the lead couple got married right after this film was released and they’re the power couple of our industry tbh)

So, as I said after Jump Fiesta there was a rumor that Naruto’s VA silenced Kishimoto when he was talking about Sakura and Hinata and people weren’t sure if it was real or not so the only understandable way to find out was to ask people from Japan who went to JF if it’s true. After they confirmed I asked one fan for details and she sent me pictures from the event one from which was from the Hinata and Naruto’s cosplayers and fans actually ignoring them or even silencing Naruto when he was saying “Never give up” occasionally. Then I asked Airi-san ( the person from twitter) if she had seen the movie and thankfully she was nice enough to tell me about her whole experience and the atmosphere and people’s reactions while watching the movie. The best part is that she watched Road to Ninja at theaters and she even pointed out the differences between them and how the viewers felt. There were a lot of messages we sent to each other so instead of posting it as a dialogue I decided to make a full text of her answers and correct some mistakes with her English (even though she did great).

  • These questions were asked shortly after Jump Fiesta 2015
  • Naruto Gaiden wasn’t out yet so there is nothing about the Boruto generation except her opinion on it and the general reaction to it.

“One thing is for sure - this movie was everywhere. There were posters all around the city, commercials and a lot, A LOT of merchandise. Surprisingly it didn’t end after the premiere of the movie but actually got even worse (or better, depends on your views on it). The hype was real, fans were really excited and every fan talked about this movie because we had a lot of hope in it. Most of us, if not all, were expecting a Team 7 central so we can see our favorite team fighting together once again. Many people actually laughed at Naruto’s older design but we assumed it made him look more mature and the bandages around his arm gave a sense of mystery to it. We also knew the ending was near so we looked forward to that as well. But we didn’t expect what would happen, eventually. When the final 2 chapters were released there wasn’t the satisfaction, the pleasure and the sense of pride we expected and it wasn’t  conclusion either. Instead of answering our questions the final chapter raised even more of them. Everything was suggesting to “watch the movie to understand” which is what Kishimoto sensei wanted so we did. Most of us thought that this was the Infinite Tskuyomi because everything seemed too unreal to be true. Another thing was that Naruto: The Last was promoted with Road to Ninja which we knew was for the IT and it lead us to think that it was that way.

The problems didn’t start with chapter 699-700 mostly but with the pre-sales. Thankfully I wasn’t patient enough to wait so much and decided to watch it later (not the premiere) because there was a crowd that would take at least 3 hours to get the tickets. I felt said because the tickets came with extra stuff with Kakashi, Naruto and Sasuke and everyone, of course, wanted to have them. I wasn’t lucky and patient enough for that but some of my friends did get them. After some time more and more commercials were shown and after the 30 minute special (she is talking about the time when they picked only some people and showed them 30 mintes of the movie) it was clear that this clearly wasn’t what we expected. The way that they promoted it was weird. They used Kakashi as a Hokage and there was a lot from Sasuke, we found out that Hanabi was in the movie so came to the conclusion that this is why Hinata plays a role in it. My friend is a big Naruto and Sasuke fan (talking about Narusasu, as a pairing, her friend shipped them) and all she wanted to see was action and Team 7. “The Last story is the First Love” line came out and everyone was thinking it was about Naruto and Sakura. The way they introduced Sakura in one of the commercials (talking about the “That beauty..ah yes, Sakura. For Sakura whose womanhood has increased Naruto surely is…” ) and since Naruto and Sakura were linked to Naruto’s parents, Minato and Kushina, we all thought we were going to see them of some sort. They even included that scarf that was between Hinata and Sakura but absolutely no one thought it was a Naruto and Hinata movie in the beginning. We didn’t even thought so much about the romance in the movie, most of us just wanted a good movie, that’s all. But then it became worse.
