Yes, everybody I know there are no links! Tumblr updated one day and they just disappeared! Sadly, this was a great master post but that’s the end of that!

So I got the most adorable app the other night.

Plant Nanny lets you pick from a small variety of seedlings to “plant” for your virtual garden. The object of this game is to help maintain or improve your hydration levels.

Every few hours you receive a notification reminding you to give your seedling, and self, a drink of water.
The app allows you to set your weight and height in order to determine the accurate amount of water intake per day.

My favorite thing though is the variety of plants that you can raise and that they come with a little bio and have personalities.

Pictured here is my Devil’s Ivy, Pomona. She was named after Prof Sprout as a nod to her use of Devil’s Snare in book one.

Body and Mind Health Routine

Hey, guys here is a list of things you should be doing every day or that I highly recommend for every day. Hope you enjoy and no this isn't particularly studying stuff but it’s really important reminder or even a checklist you can go through to make sure you can do better in your work and keep your body healthy

1. Brush your teeth twice and floss every day. Just do it, it’s like 5 minutes max

2. Drink drink drink! Keep hydrated try this app called “Plant Nanny” it’s where you grow a plant and every time you need to give it water it reminds you to also drink water

3.  Workout or even walk if you can. yes your a super busy person trying to succeed in life and everything seems overwhelming but if you take at the very lease 10 minutes to go a jog you will thank me

4. Wash your face + moisturize No you don’t have to moisturize but I would highly suggest it. Keep your skin looking young and healthy

5. Eat healthy Yes, healthy food is expensive especially if your in college but try your best because even when I’m eating healthier it motivates me to get shit done not shit in front of the tv munching on some pasta

6.Take a deep breath Have some you time. Just take a few moments to breath do some meditation or yoga or listen to some music. Five minutes won’t cost you what you’ll think it will really help you

7. Don’t stare at the computer screen Every so often get up do some jumping jacks, look out a window, get the blood pumping, rest your eyes.

8. Manage your time wisely If. you. wait. till. the. very. last. moment. you. will. want. to. kill. yourself. I’ve had at least three mental breakdowns due to this and I’m learning from my mistakes. I literally started crying and couldn’t breathe in a classroom because I didn’t understand what was going on and it was due the next day.

9. Drop the negative people Trust me if they don’t hype you up about your amazing test scores, or that you shed a few pounds they are not worth it. Surround yourself with people that have the same interests as you so you can motivate each other

10. Think more positively Don’t complain as much. This one hits right at home with me because I’m always complaining no matter what and I’ve been on a minimal complaining mission. Think about all the things you can do.

 Other things that aren’t necessary but definitely nice and relaxing

1. Paint your nails

2. Take a nice bath you can do so much from relaxing to studying; bath bombs make it even better

3. Shave your legs tell me doesn’t feel amazing to get into bed with soft legs

4. Grow your eyebrows I made a little serum to help me achieve the naturally bushy but amazing eyebrow that are actually natural. Mix a bit of aloe with caster oil and a little bit of oil whether it is almond or coconut just a drop will do the trick. Just make sure it’s okay and good for you and doesn’t have any negative side effects

5. Maracuja oil is a multi-beneficial oil with a whole ton of good stuff for you. Yes, im only 14 and I don’t have wrinkle but I put that stuff all over my face and neck to help me in the future.

6. A tiny bit of makeup can go a long way. You’ve been up later studying or doing whatever or you just have dark circle under your eyes. Take a bit of orange color corrector and pat that into the skin followed by some concealer.

So I’m reaaalllyyy bad for never drinking enough water and this adorable lil app called Plant Nanny (it’s free) lets you grow plants and send reminders to drink water- based on your level of activity and weight. After using this it crazy how my body reacted and I’m feeling so much better! Keep hydrated friends!

    • You literally fill up his water bottle and bring in spare Nirvana ones in case he looks dehydrated and his bottle is empty
      • Every intermission, you tell him to drink water and bring in a chicken
        • The chicken is for the rest of the cast too because you feel guilty for not bringing in one for everyone else

A/N: Word of advice kiddos: If you’re dehydrated, drink at least three bottles of water per day. One way you can keep up is downloading Plant Nanny, which is where you take care of a plant based on the amount of water you drink. You put in your weight, how often you exercise, and what units you go by. I personally have to drink 59 oz per day, which keeps me hydrated. The app is completely free

Also make sure you get protein, iron, and carbohydrates in your body because you can’t function without them! Get good food flowing through your body! You can have gentle snacks like skittles, but eat some protein or have an apple once in a while. ITS NOT FUN TO PASS OUT TAKE IT FROM ME!!!!!!

I found this app called Plant Nanny a few days ago - it reminds you to drink water regularly so that you can nourish your plant. It’s super cute and really useful to keep track of hydration, which I’m usually awful at. Now I’m better hydrated I feel so much more awake and it’s lots easier to concentrate on studying!

Plant nanny does a very good job of reminding me to drink and helps me stay hydrated. It’s a free app, on android for sure. It goes based on body weight and activity levels, and has cute plants to pick from and it has music and it’s just really cute. I have it to remind me every 2 hours at least. I really recommend it for self care, guys. ♡

Hey Artie I am having a really hard time taking care of myself lately. Do you have any advice on how to handle self care during a really stressful time?

ah, I think one of the most important things to remember when you’re struggling with self-care is that no amount of self-care is insignificant. Every little thing you do to care for yourself is important, its never a waste. Just because you don’t accomplish big goals doesn’t mean what you did accomplish isn’t significant and important and 100% worth doing. I know that I can feel discouraged if I don’t meet the goals I set for myself, so keeping this in mind is very important.

You could try getting apps designed to help you with selfcare, like Booster Buddy or Plant Nanny (for hydration), and others. Those apps can sometimes be overwhelming, though, if you can’t meet the goals. If you find they’re not working for you, don’t feel bad about not using them anymore.

I find routines help, trying to follow a schedule makes it less likely you’ll forget to do a thing. Can sometimes feel like a goal, though, so when you miss a step you might give up the whole schedule altogether. If that’s the case, don’t worry too much about adhering to the schedule. Just do some things.

Set alarms! On your phone, on your computer, on whatever you can set alarms on. Pick a few times a day for it to remind you to eat and/or drink, take medication, or do some other task. This should help you by prompting you to remember to do these things.

For hydration, I find a good tactic is to keep a water bottle near you at all times. I don’t do well with water drinking goals, so I just focus on drinking some water throughout the day. When you’re watching TV, keep the water bottle next to you and take a few sips during commercial breaks (or a video is buffering). Maybe find one of those ‘[show] drinking games’ and play that, just substituting water. When you’re playing a video game, take a sip whenever you have to wait for load times. When reading, take a sip when you finish a page or chapter. The idea being you don’t have a goal, you’re just integrating water drinking throughout the day

Eating food > eating 100% healthy. I know that might seem like bad advice, but if its between not eating anything all day and eating something that maybe isn’t the healthiest thing for you, its always better to eat than not eat. Sometimes its very hard to eat food at all, let alone make sure its well balanced. But not eating anything all day is quite bad for you, so just try to make sure you’re eating something throughout the day, even if its just pasta or ramen or whatever (you can deal with improving your nutrition when you’re struggling less with just the entire concept of eating). You can use the same method as described above for hydration, eating a bite of food between other activities.

I find what helps me remember to eat is to plan in advance what I’m going to eat. If its not perishable, I’ll set it out on the counter to make sure I don’t forget. When I have a plan, it feels like I’m looking forward to something. For whatever reason, it makes me far less likely to forget to eat.

For showering/cleaning, I find it helpful to prep the bathroom (this probably isn’t universal, but the working shower is in the smaller bathroom in my house so it can’t hold everyone’s stuff. So I need to take my stuff there every time I want to show, so I often do that several hours beforehand so its there when I’m ready). It also might help for you to not set goals for yourself. Tasks can seem very daunting when you think of ALL you have to do, so you’re more apt to just skip it. So when you go to shower, take it one step at a time. Just get in the shower and get the water running. Then go through each step one at a time, without thinking of the next step until its time to do it. And if you find you can’t will yourself to do a step, that’s OK! Every step is itself a victory, even if its just getting in the shower with the water running. One step at a time is a great way to go about things, even if you just do the first step.

For exercise, its the same deal. Every one step is a victory, so any physical activity you can do is great, even if its small. Just walking out to the mailbox, doing a couple exercises, little things. Even one activity is great. Maybe walk a lap around the room whenever there’s a commercial break or you finish a chapter in a book (maybe you can use that minute or so to think about what just happened in the story and what might happen next). I find it helps sometimes to listen to music, it makes me feel more comfortable moving for some reason.

ah, there’s probably a lot I’m forgetting. But its all the same basic thing. Don’t focus on accomplishing big goals, especially if you get easily discouraged (like I do) if you don’t accomplish them. Just focus on doing little things, one step of all the vitals. Try to incorporate it into your daily activities in small ways. Any small thing you do is significant. You’ll make it out of the woods soon.

GRIMES FRIENDLY REMINDERS FOR NEW YEARS:

  • New Years Eve is fun but there are some things to remember
  • If you drink, do not drive.
  • Do not leave your drink unattended, if you do don’t drink it.
  • Stay with your friends 
  • Put ICE (In Case of Emergency) in front of any phone contacts you would want people to call in an emergency.
  • Do not walk home alone.
  • Do not go off with a stranger you don’t know, or if you do make sure your friends knows exactly where you are and keep in public.
  • If you dont want a baby or an STD in 2016, condoms are your friend.
  • If someone is making you uncomfortable tell security and/or make sure you are surrounded by people. 
  • It’s okay to say no and no means no.
  • Look out for your fellow people, even if they are strangers.
  • Know how you are getting home before going out.
  • Don’t drink on an empty stomach and stay hydrated!.
  • AN APP THAT INFORMS YOUR FAMILY OR FRIENDS YOU MIGHT BE IN DANGER AND ASKS THEM TO CALL YOU
  • Stay Safe!
