human body as medium

The Fire Signs - Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius

The spirit of a Fire body conjures the elixir of pure magic,
a fire dance of dream weaving, apparition, revelation, and divine dust that bursts in fireballs of crackling intuition. Aries spins a lucid Alice in Wonderland
imagination into a live playground, spiraling down the chorus of cosmos and reaching new heights in captivating flight,
flinging into the universe headfirst without hesitation or hindrance. Leo is ripe and ready to revel in the celebration of life and being, the eternal
cosmic spectacle that fire twirls under the sun and spins under the spotlight
of stars. Everything is grand, beautiful, and coated in a reverent inferno. The Sagittarius mind is ablaze with philosophical riches and colourful
worldly wisdom. Their enchanted bow and arrow is shot into the
golden radiance of heaven, and as they ride, they fly, rolling through the
musings of the moon and the thoughts of the sky Gods and angels

The Earth Signs - Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn

Sensuality nourishes the mind, body, and spirit with earth. As we return to the gentle rhythms of the seasons, earth grounds us with simplicity, to breathe in the fresh country air, to feel the moisture of the ocean kissing your skin, to manage the equilibrium that always returns to stability.
Earthy individuals are aligned with time, detail, and consolidation. They process stimulus logically and with a sort of naturalistic poetry. Often there is an introverted and internalized quality about earth people. Taurus is the music of mother earth, Virgo is the embroidery of natural perfection, and Capricorn is the soul of earthly wisdom.
They are withdrawing, focused, and intelligent, in touch with the physical body and typically responsive to its needs. This is why earthy people can go on binges and detoxes naturally, they just listen to the voice of their body

The Air Signs - Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius

Air is the essence that travels through every body and
every spirit. It is the medium that human beings speak and communicate through. Air exists within all of us, this invisible and translucent quality that you can’t grab a hold of for a minute. Thoughts
are invisible and opaque too
this is why Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius people can float through life in an air bubble, cushioned by veiled words and puzzles
The Air signs play the pan flute of the cosmos, inspires the breeze of everyone, breathing in the thoughts and musings of every man
and they swirl in the mind like a spectacular orchestra, the Air sign person inhales language and words, decorates and designs
and like exhaling through the panflute, they turn words into music, they turn thoughts into a melody, poetry, a tactile bliss of sensory delight

The Water Signs - Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces

The water signs symbolize the elements of historical feminine healing; witches, midwives, and nurses. They are the fundamental forces of life, their creative ether is sourced through the womb of the goddess. Music of the invisible world plays a loud orchestra in their ears and emotions are
experienced on a more extensive and intense resonance. Sleep offers a momentary solace, but even dream life tends to be vivid and potent. There is very often an internal demand to retreat in solitude, hideaway from the clamor of the world, conceal themselves within their sanctuary.
Water is the dissolute mirror, where the flap of a butterfly wing seems to send
a whirlpool through the impression; and yet here lies the liquid force so
powerful it holds up whole vessels

Oskar Schlemmer’s Triadic Ballet

In 1922 Oskar Schlemmer, famed Bauhaus artist and choreographer, premiered the Triadic Ballet, an avant-garde dance performance that toured Europe in the 1920s. Inspired by his own experience in the First World War, Schlemmer constructed the performance around the idea that the human body could be a new artistic medium. These costumes, designed by Schlemmer, had the effect of restricting the body, and thus helping to determine the ballet’s choreography. By limiting the participants’ freedom of movement due to the weight of the materials they are made from, their forms, and the masks worn, Schlemmer’s dancers are architectural structures forced to move as comic actors; dancing both playfully and clumsily across the stage.

Thomas Houseago is vanguard in his approach to sculpture’s original subject, the human body. Utilizing mediums associated with classical and modernist sculpture—such as carved wood, clay, plaster, and bronze—as well as less traditional materials like rebar and hemp, Houseago builds monumental figures rife with the traces of their making.

Happy Birthday to artist Thomas Houseago born today, April 12th in Leeds, England.

The heart is one of the most important organs in the human body, because it is one of the main mediums for connecting us to each other and the Universe. Conventional science has taught us that the main role of the heart is to pump blood to all the systems of our body. This definition of the heart is not very accurate. Besides pumping blood, the heart also has an intelligence of its own.

According to neurocardiologists, 60 to 65 percent of heart cells are neuron cells, not muscle cells. This discovery has helped them develop experiments that have proved the heart works similar to the brain and in some ways is even superior to the brain. This may be the reason that the heart is the first organ to function after conception. Within about 20 days after conception, the heart starts to function, but the brain does not function until after roughly 90 days. This information tells us that the brain is secondary to the heart.

Obviously I’m plus size. This is my life. I don’t hide it, and find it comforting to be part of a loving community of other curvy babes sporting fatkinis and thunder thighs in public without giving a fuck what anyone thinks.

However, when we ask for something we expect to get it like everyone else. When it comes to food, why is it that my order changes from the moment I request it to when it comes back to me?

I’m in a restaurant and I order a Pepsi but I’m brought a Diet Pepsi. I ask for a bagel with cream cheese, and I’m given reduced-fat cream cheese. Everyone gets a slice of cake during a celebration except me, and I’ve had waiters take back the table bread because: “Let’s not let this tempt you.”

So, let me get this straight. I am a larger person so I’m clearly on a diet, and you need to make my food choices for me. Got it.

Is it okay if I ask what your favorite dress at the Met Ball was? Or at least one that made you go "wow"? Thank-you for being so nice to your asks and being a sweet down-to-earth tumblr user:)

I loved Liu Wen and Arizona Muse in Zac Posen. I felt they were the most “theme appropriate” and looked stunning.

I also loved Mary Kate and Ashley and Dakota Johnson (in Jason Wu) as well.

Personally I’m much more intrigued by the gowns that will be on display inside the exhibit. They are of iconic and revolutionary shape with uniquely artistic textiles and perspective of the 1940’s and onward.

So here’s my entry for this week’s Compixellated!

Body Type: Medium, Heavy

Clothing: Robotic Armor

Head Type: Human Male, Young

Weapon/Accessory: Crown

Way I figured it, why have the Crown only be an accessory when it could also be the weapon? And the armor? And pretty much the entire design, really?

(I rerolled a bunch of times until I got something with robotic armor. I like mechas, sue me.)

(Also, maybe I should consider posting up my pixelart as text posts with added images instead of photo posts. Tumblr absolutely destroys the resolution of pixelart when I upload it as a photo.)

Now, I’m not offended by the pregnancy comments. I am a little concerned that there isn’t more awareness surrounding the differences between a belly and a pregnant, convex silhouette. However, this is not the issue.

The problem is that the world seems to believe that the only reason a female-bodied individual could possibly have a larger stomach is because of pregnancy. Walking around with a fat stomach is apparently so abnormal that the only explanation for committing such a crime is to be pregnant. Fatness justified.
No, I’m not on a diet. No, I don’t want to be skinny. No, I don’t feel uncomfortable wearing a short skirt. No, my chest isn’t big because I’m breastfeeding. No, I don’t stick out my ass to get attention — it’s just formed that way. No, I don’t want to sit down. No, I don’t need help picking up that that piece of paper.

We are truly incapable of considering the journey we all take with our bodies. It’s a vessel that literally carries us through this world, and all we can say about it is how we are going to make it ready for bikini season.
