try your best. not everyone can get all As, and getting all As does not make you better than everyone else. just do the best you can and be the best person you can be.
don’t sleep in class! i know it seems so so tempting but slept my way through geography last year and i got a C in my exam instead of the expected A so…
Don’t tick off your teacher, follow the rules to an extent, get to class on time, respect your classmates and teachers. you know, just be a decent person.
be positive!!! and not just for the first week or so, keep the positivity going throughout the whole school year. if you don’t believe in yourself then why should anyone else?
“you can do it, wildcat, i believe in u” — something troy bolton said one time probably definitely
Smile and introduce yourself to people- whether you’re sitting next to them or have seen them in more than one of your classes. Everyone likes to make new friends (even if we’re too shy to do it most of the time).
Find which clubs look interesting and go to their first meetings- there’s never an obligation to join, but you might meet a lot of new friends.
Get advice from other students on if your classes/teachers are difficult and figure out which ones you’ll need to work the hardest in.
this or this. it’ll whip your ass into gear. you name a list of websites that distract you, set a timer, and bam. no more hour long study breaks. the best - or worst - part is, it can’t be undone by the application, by deleting the application, or by restarting the computer. you just gotta wait, and if you’re going to wait, you may as well study.
goals. when you sit down to study, write down everything you’re going to do. then do it. aimlessly staring at your books won’t do shit.
something to listen to. i suggest movie scores, song covers by the vitamin string quartet
a queue. if you’re really obsessed with keeping your blog up to date, set aside some time, fatten up your queue, and let your blog run itself for a few days.
breaks. during your breaks, dance, run around, work out, go for a walk, talk to your friends, call your mom. going back on the internet is an easy way to get out of the mood, so i wouldn’t suggest it.
tea and coffee - if not for the caffeine, then for the feeling of cozying up with your text books and feeling studious.
a place to study. it doesn’t matter if it’s in a coffee house, a library, or your kitchen table. as long as your bed’s not in sight and tempting you into a nap, you’re good.

I have just messed up my Photoshop brush (for the lineart) and I have no idea how it was before even though it was the most important one I’m very very sorry. I’m pretty sure it was just some oil pastel preset changed randomly. This is what it shows now:
For flat coloring, the majority of the coloring actually
For hair (bangs or strands sticking out), lips, teeth, eyes and the occasional shading
Rarely ever use this one but it’s for when I feel like painting
Just stumble across your simblr and ohmygod I love it! ❤ uhm, may I ask do you use any reshade presents or what photoshop actions do you use cos holyshet your screenies are eye poppin! So colorful!
Hi, friend! Thank you so much for loving my story!

One thing that bugs me, every pun intended, about Ladybug and Chat’s respective costumes is that his is FULL of careful little details and hers is just … not? He’s got cuffs on his wrists and ankles, the bell and studs, and fake ears and a tail that literally MOVE, just for starters, to say nothing of the hairstyle change. Hell, even his MASK is more interesting than hers–it covers more skin, the shape’s slightly less domino-cliche, and it not only literally changes the shape of his pupils and color of his eyes, it comes with friggin’ OPTIONAL NIGHT VISION. Meanwhile Marinette gets, like … spots and ribbons and slightly bluer hair. Maybe. At MOST. The ribbons don’t even function as damn ANTENNAE ffs COME ON, DESIGNERS HOW DID YOU NOT GO THAT WAY
(so yeah I actually have zero problems with the whole “how the hell does NO ONE recognize the damn PROFESSIONAL MODEL in his own damn HOMETOWN” thing, considering how much more eye-catching his costume is and how drastically a new hairstyle and a posture/behavior change can affect someone’s look, ESPECIALLY without Photoshop all over his face, but I remain eternally baffled as to why NO ONE has pegged Marinette for Marinette yet. SHE’S NOT THAT DIFFERENT, CLASSMATES.)
Basically, Chat Noir’s superhero gear actually looks like someone TRIED to disguise him; Marinette’s looks like Tikki slapped some spots on a discount leotard and called it a day. She couldn’t even be bothered with separate boots or gloves! It’s like I can HEAR Plagg weeping over the fashion disaster that is his eternal partner, my GOD.
tldr; GIVE LADYBUG WINGS AND CUTE NEW HAIR, DAMMIT
Left: I use a square brush.. Minimum spacing is at 1%, but sometimes it lags and I’ll move it to 5% to get rid of the lag. Middle: Pen Pressure for the size, and I very occasionally change the minimum diameter depending on how I want my strokes to look like. Right: I never change these settings.. These are the most important to make sure brush strokes are soft and easier to “blend” in photoshop.
“Hi! I love love the texture of your art, could I ask what brush you use? And do you have any advice for painting in photoshop? I can never get my stuff to blend well enough!”
Hello thank you! You can’t actually blend colors unless you use the mixer brush. I use the regular default brush that requires you to spam the eye dropper (press the alt key) and use several strokes until the colors appear they are blending. The texture is just created from my brush strokes since in the last illustration I didn’t use any other brushes except the speckle/dot brush for the small dots. Thanks for asking..
i think your art is so amazing and you are so talented. I was just wondering if you could give advice on how you personally paint in skin and figure out what tones to use for shadows and stuff like that. thankyou!
Hi! First of all, I’m sorry you had to wait so long for an answer to your ask D; I didn’t want to reply in one sentence bc I was too busy.
now I try to choose colors on my own, without any help of eyedropper tool but i had to learn somewhere so I used colored gifs, photos or fansite pics. i would swatch colors from those color references and then slowly i learned what shadows and highlights work together and now i use color references more as a inspiration for a skin color palette. (usually I don’t use my face ref pictures as colors refs because 1. sometimes i use bad quality references that have bad colors 2. I don’t want to redraw my references completely). before starting a painting i always think about general color palette for example if i want a painting to be in cooler tones or maybe i want something warm. i have a separate folder with color references so i always find there something that matches my concept.
but i didn’t want everything to be that easy so i would change colors a bit during eyedropping. here is the tip -> (x) play with a color wheel. (If you use Photoshop and you don’t have a color wheel, you can download a plug-in called Coolorus.)
Here’s an example how I swatch colors from a reference and adjust them. Let’s take this picture of Jimin:
Colors on his skin are pretty nice here, light cold pinkish I’d say but a bit flat and monotonous.
First, I’d swatch a midtone probably somewhere on the cheek under his eye or on forehead. It would be muddy so I would change saturation a bit but without changing value like this:
Never move the color selector straight to the right because you will also change the value of the color. We want to have a color that is more saturated but has the same value. I always pick more saturated colors as a base because that makes all the colors that I blend with it more saturated as well.
Then I’d swatch that pink shadow that is closer to his collar (and maybe also saturate it a bit as well without changing value) and a highlight. But I never pick white as a base highlight. I might use it as a bit of shine on a skin when a painting is almost finished but almost never at the beginning.
Like I said colors in this picture look a bit flat so I would probably also play with the color wheel just like in the tutorial I linked at the beginning. I’d add more pink shadows around the nose, yellowish/brownish shadows on the jaw or forehead, again something a bit more pink and saturated near cheekbones. Sometimes a bit of pink/purple around eyes.
The point is our skin never has the same color. You’ve probably noticed that the area around nose or ears is more pink and area around eyes can be blueish or brownish. So use observe, zoom in when you look at HD pictures, learn from those photos, use your own face as a reference and play with saturation and hues on the color wheel.
You can see how I pick colors in my speedpainting here. I swatched the midtone from a colored gif and then used the color wheel to adjust shadows, highlights and the rest of midtones. Notice how I picked pink for the nose area and added yellow tones on his cheeks later.
That’s basically how I pick skin colors. I hope it’s a bit helpful! ^^
