how to care for an introvert

I really don’t understand how some people can honestly think that Yoongi is lazy.

Like sure, lethargic maybe, and he definitely seems more introverted than the rest of the group. But he works so damn hard and is such a kind and wonderful person. Quietly taking care of “the kids” and making sure they always have someone to fall back on. He’s the silent supportive pillar of the group, patient and kind. But he also knows how to play around, have a good time, he’s just as much a kid as the rest of the members. He works really hard to show us his bright and energetic side and that must take a lot out of him.

He’s constantly working hard, often going without sleep or only sleeping a couple hours so that he can make amazing music. What really gets me is that he does it all for us. He’s said time and again that he wants to make the type of music that can help people and soothe them, and he’s willing to sacrifice so much to do that.

Min Yoongi is such a hardworking and ambitious man who cares so deeply about all of us and his members. He is constantly doing whatever he can to make sure that he’s putting out the best music he can.

I know that as a fandom we joke about him being a lazy grandpa, but I really hope that that’s not all he’s seen as. He’s so much more than that.

Danny Phantom: Vlad Masters/Plasmius [ENFJ]

OFFICIAL TYPING BY: mysterylover123

Extroverted Feeling (Fe): Vlad is a master at praising others, at telling them what they want to hear and swaying their feelings. However, he’s also rather bad at controlling his own, as his rampant emotions concerning Jack, Maddie and Danny constantly trip him up and cause him to have outbursts that nearly give him away. He acts on his feelings: on his petty hatred for Jack, on his years outdated crush on Maddie, on his desire to be Danny’s surrogate father. He’s a smooth-talker, outwardly friendly and holds up a good facade as such. He’s motivated by the need to hold a place in society - name,y the top of society. He cares a lot about what people think of him.

Introverted Intuition (Ni): He’s a schemer and a chess master, skilled at anticipating how people will behave and putting them into a certain place so they will do so. He utilizes the traditional Fe/Ni combo frequently; he talks about things in symbolism (“That I used two teenage pawns to turn a knight and topple a king? It’s called chess, Daniel.”) He’s very fixated on his main goals and refuses to deviate from them; he still tries to be Maddie’s boyfriend and Danny’s father, regardless of anything and everything against it.

Extroverted Sensing (Se): He exhibits a lot of the traditional (somewhat stereotypical) Tertiary Se characteristics: love of the material, need for physical stimulation, concern over appearances. He has the capacity to think well on his feet in the heat of battle and seize upon the moment when it presents itself. He uses his environment to his advantage, especially in the heat of battle. He’s occasionally impulsive and jeopardizes his plan on what’s going on right now.

Introverted Thinking (Ti): Vlad’s Ti is what often trips him up. He traditionally uses it in a controlling, manipulative fashion; seeing what he can get from others and utilizing that knowledge to control them. He has his pensive moments, his occasions of sitting around pondering what this or that means, but he’s usually too absorbed in bigger plans and too focused on his emotions. Some of his plans have clear logical holes that Danny is able to exploit by appealing to his feelings.

INTJs and Opening Up.

People: You should open up more often.

Me: *deadpan look, in deep thought* I like octopuses.

People: *opens mouth, doesn’t speak* *turns and walks away*

Me: Well, that’s enough socializing for the day.

How to Care for an Introvert

How to Care for an Introvert

1. Respect their need for privacy and to spend time alone.

2. Be careful never to embarrass them in public.

3. When they are in a new situation, allow them to stand back, and watch what’s going on.

4. Allow them time to process what you’re asking or saying. Don’t demand an answer right away.

5. Be patient if they hesitate to find the right words – and never interrupt while they are speaking.

6. If you are going to change or cancel plans, give them plenty of prior notice.

7. Allow them to practice and perfect skills alone.

8. Correct or challenge them privately – never in front of an audience.

9. Don’t force them to hang out with a crowd of people, or expect them to amass a lot of friends. A few good friends is more comfortable for them.

10. Don’t try to turn them into an extrovert. Respect them for being exactly who they are.

Descendants 2

Descendants 2 had a lot of strong points but what this post is going to focus on is the character development in all of the characters.

Mal -

Obviously this movie focused a lot on Mal. She has grown a lot from the first movie but not in a healthy way. She developed some bad habits (spelling things and people) and developed some self image issues. This is a vast difference from our defiant and confident Mal from the first movie. While I don’t like the softer Mal that was shown, even closer to the end of the movie, I like that they explored these identity issues. By the end of the movie Mal has reconnected with her roots, her group and what made her want to change in the first place. I think it leaves us with a strong Mal with more room to grow in the right direction.

Evie -

THIS IS MY GIRL! Gonna be honest, I disliked her in the first movie cause she was a ditz but my girl has come a lonngggg way. Evie grew from a superficial girl into an incredibly smart, talented and confident lady. She has a booming design business and doesn’t take crap from anyone, and right beside her for these changes was her supportive boyfriend Doug. I love the dynamic they have because they are equal to each other, she is the strong one but he will still defend her to princes, he manages her business finances and supports her dreams. BUT she is not a dainty princess and he know he isn’t her “prince” but he is her knight. I will defend this ship with. My. Life. Also, she has a big heart and is fighting for the kids that she grew up with. She is going to be a great advocate for the isle.

Jay -

Jay came a long way from his rule breaking enthusiastic lifestyle. He even obeys the smallest (and more sexist) of rules. We also saw that he became less aggressive than before. It was curious to see him as a responsible captain, and it was very fitting. Through out the rest of the movie we got to see him step up as a leader when Mal was lacking or when something needed to be said. Like when everyone was arguing he calmed them down and when Mal and Evie were chatting about her hair, he took initiative to bring them together. Jay is a born leader and is doing the one thing his father, jafar, could not. Being successful and compassionate in a leadership position. In the end when he forfeits his title as captain to Lonnie(?) so she can join the team that is him doing what is best for the team. She is strong and they needed her. He sacrificed his title for the greater good and I hope that doesn’t go unnoticed.

Carlos -

Our shy boy came a long way as well. Carlos is a more outspoken and confident person. I don’t think he lacked confidence in the first movie but I believe he was more introverted, now we see a more open Carlos who stands his ground. For example, kicking Chad out of his room repeatedly. He is dismissing a prince and gives 0 cares. We also have a slight mention of how he programmed his 3D printer to have really cool hacks and such which references his special abilities with computers. Jay can be physical, Evie can be smart, Mal can be sly and Carlos can hack. This is important. Finally we see our boy finally ask Jane out. Tbh, I didn’t see it. BUT I am not against it. The little dorks make each other happy and they make each other stronger, for Carlos he has someone to protect and for Jane she has someone who makes her feel beautiful which is not to be under-estimated.

Jane -

Jane grew in a few notable ways. She became a more involved and outspoken person than the shy, squeaky girl from the first movie. Now she is coordinating big projects and making sure the schedule is kept to. BUT she is still insecure about herself and you can tell, even the way she thought Carlos wanted to go to the party as friends until he spelled it out for her is a sign of the insecurity. Carlos makes her feel beautiful and while that isn’t the best place to get a confidence boost it is still a wonderful development for a young girls self esteem to have someone like that.

Duke -

well, he/she learned English so that is pretty impressive.

Ben -

Ben was a goodie two-shoes in the first movie. While he developed a wicked streak in the second one, he NEVER abandoned his big heart, which is what truly makes him King Ben. He was trying to tackle the life struggles of ruling a kingdom, dealing with an engagement, helping the project areas and maintaining his grades. We know he had to quit his different sports teams because he didn’t have time, the time he spent with Mal dwindled to near nothing and we know he was overwhelmed. He never complained though. Ben is a strong character who is taking care of business and while he might not be the first to throw a punch he is powerful with words before fists, and he doesn’t let his girlfriend fight all his battles for him. In the end when he still trying to seek peace, preventing what could have been a catastrophic battle, he was doing his duty as a king. He put his life on the line. His biggest development in this movie was seeing the other side of things and understanding just how abused these kids were. It is one thing to hear about it and think you know, but he never really knew.  And Uma abusing his kindness and spelling him didn’t scare him away from continuing to seek justice for these kids. Ben is a good leader.

Lonnie -

In the first movie we never really got to explore her character. We saw that she wasn’t afraid of our lil’ villains and that she was still compassionate towards them but that was it. In this movie she is introduced as a threat. She is powerful and smart just like her mother, and she may be a love interest for Jay which is a perfect math. Talk about power couple, am I right?! I look forward to seeing more of her.

NEW CHARACTERS -

Uma -

You can see the results of abuse and bullying in her personality. All she is looking for is validation. This is the entire point of “Say my name”, she wants to be acknowledged. Her dwarf rats don’t really obey her, they still challenge her constantly and call her “Shrimpy”. While she has issues, there is room for change. I really hope Disney takes the opportunity to properly show kids/people how to interact with someone who comes from that abusive background.

Harry Hook -

Dang.. Uh, not gonna lie, I am so weak to this little out law. I was practically drooling over him, and when he tickled Ben my heart skipped a beat. I could ship that, I wont cause I will be lynched, but I could. I could see him being a bigger problem in the future. He has more of a cutthroat attitude than Uma and it is clear that him and Jay have bad blood. I hope we see much more of that delectable pirate. Gil - I bet you are one that gets to leave the isle. You don’t seem inherently bad, just kinda a dunce. Definitely room for improvement.

One-paragraph appreciation for the introvert types

ISTJs:  I think it’s great that there are so many of you, because ISTJs drive the world, get stuff done, and always seem to know what’s going on. You’re so incredibly reliable and trustworthy and we need people like that. Without your devotion and logical thinking, the world would be nowhere.

ISFJs: You guys are the glue that holds society together. I love how much you care about everyone and how much effort you put in to make sure everyone is okay. Seriously, you deserve more credit for being such great people, and you have both the drive and natural kindness to help a lot of people.

INFJs: Not only do you have other peoples’ best interests in mind, you guys dream big and have bold ideals. You may not think they’ll happen, but because you’re all so gutsy and organized (unlike me) I feel like you can and will accomplish your goals. I wish there were more of you, because you’re brilliant.

INTJs: You nerds are going to change the world. Seriously, you’re all intelligent, knowledgeable, determined and generally great at stuff, and you’re unbound by expectations. You are creators, challengers, improvers, and while you are few, you can have massive effects on the world on your own.

ISTPs: I know none of you are that dependent on the approval of others, but for what it’s worth: you are great. Your cleverness, pragmatism and bravery mean that you can accomplish awesome things that others could only dream of, and your calmness under pressure is something I strive for.

ISFPs: I feel like the world would be so much more peaceful if people adopted your mindset. It’s incredible how well you guys can see the beauty in others and the world around you. Flexible, talented people like you have so much potential, and since you’re all so kind and charming it’s great to be around you.

INFPs: You guys are most interested in deep thoughts and long-term goals and don’t care about shallow things. And that’s a wonderful way to be. I’m so glad that there are people like you: deep thinkers who don’t forget to look after others, altruists who still seek to define themselves. You fit so many great qualities into one incredible personality.

INTPs: My fellow oddities, you are awesome. You have whole worlds inside your heads, and you tend to know the right answers and ask the right questions. Your curiosity and imagination combined are a force to be reckoned with, and you are definitely some of the smartest people in the world.

A/N: I had fun writing this one, I hope y'all enjoy it!

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

His lips smashed onto yours passionately and you kissed back with just as much eagerness. Your hands knotted it’s way in his hair lightly pulling every now and then, while his hands left small bruises from where his fingertips dug into your hips.

You moaned quietly only spurring him on further. His lips left yours and quickly found their way to your jawline. Kissing his way down your neck, leaving his mark on you. But you didn’t care, all you wanted was him.

You pulled him back to your lips where your tongues wrestled for dominance, but you had no chance of winning. Suddenly you heard footsteps and immediately jumped away from each other and tried to make yourselves look like you hadn’t just spent the last 10 minutes heavily making out.

You peered around the corner the both of you had been hiding behind and saw Archie walking down the hall. You pulled out your phone to inspect the marks on your jaw and neck and immediately cursed.

“Fucking hell Jughead, how the hell am I supposed to hide these!?” You exclaimed quietly as you tried to shift your shirt to hide them, but that didn’t work. He pulled off his sweatshirt and offered it to you which you gratefully took, the over sized jacket effectively did the job. You left the corner you both had been occupying first so as not to seem suspicious.

For the entirety of your relationship you both tried to hide the fact that you were dating, not wanting any of the drama that it would bring. “Hey Y/n.” Archie greeted. Jughead appeared from around the corner. “Oh… hey…” Archie greeted him awkwardly before leaving.

“What was all that about?” You asked him as his hand found its way on your hip. “Nothing, don’t worry about it.” He practically spat as he watched Archie walk away. “Whatever you say, now come on, lets go to the lounge, I needed to ask Betty for some notes.” He nodded and the both of you made your way to the said room.

You and Jug walked over to where Betty, Veronica and Kevin were. “Hey Betty, can you lend me those notes for that class I wasn’t able to make it to last week?” “Of course.” She said as she went digging through her backpack. Kevin was the first to notice your sweatshirt. “Hey isn’t that Jughead’s jacket?” He asked as he shot the two of you a look.

“I-I.” “She was cold, I lent it to her.” “Yeah, yep. That’s- yeah I was cold and he let me borrow it.” You winced at your obvious lie but prayed they’d buy it. Kevin gave the both of you another look before deciding to drop the subject, at that moment they all heard Reggie start to speak up, this time it was about Jason Blossom’s death.

“And Sheriff Keller’s grilling me, Mantle the Magnificent. ‘Cause I’d want Blossom dead. When he was, like, the only good quarterback we had.” He looked over at Moose who had been smiling.

“And speaking of offensive tight-ends, I should’ve sent the cops to you, Moose. Because here’s another unsolved mystery. What exactly were you and Kevin doing at the river, huh? Or does being with the sheriff’s son give you a free pass Keller?” Reggie was clearly trying to start something with anyone who’d listen.

"Reggie’s just being a blowhard, Kev.“ You heard Betty tell Kevin. "I don’t care what he says. I mean, let’s think about it. If a kid at Riverdale killed Jason, it’s not gonna be a jock, right? Now, let’s be honest. Isn’t it always some spooky, scrawny, pathetic Internet troll, too busy writing his manifestos to get laid? Some smug, moody, serial killer fanboy freak… like Jughead?"

Everyone looked at Jughead while Reggie laughed. Jughead just glared back in response as he leaned against one of the many counters. "What was it like, Suicide Squad? When you shot Jason? You didn’t do stuff to the body, did you? Like After?” Jughead rolled his eyes.

"It’s called necrophilia, Reggie, can you spell it?“ "Come here, you little-.” Reggie had hopped over one of the couches when Archie came out of nowhere and immediately blocked a blow that was was meant for Jughead’s face. “Hey shut the hell up, Reggie.” “What do you care, Andrews?” Reggie threatened.

"Nothing, just leave him alone.“ "Holy crap. Did you and Donnie Darko kill him together? Was it some sort of pervy, blood brother thing?” You snorted when he said that as you thought about what actually had taken place between you and Jughead on July 4th. “What’s so funny you introverted freak.” Reggie asked as he stared you down.

“Nothing just… I think it’s funny how you are such a dick all the time. I wonder if this stupid massive ego you always use is to make up for something. Are you lacking a little in the size department?” You asked with a cheeky grin. Everyone started laughing while Reggie just started at you with absolute hatred before a thought crossed his mind making him smile evilly.

“Oh, I get it. I bet you were another accomplice in this whole scheme. Which one of you held Jason down while the other killed him, huh?” “I cant say anything for Archie but I know for a fact that Jughead and I were not at all near Sweetwater River during the time of Jason’s death. So go try your little theories somewhere else.” You instantly regretted your words when you realized what you said.

Reggie smirked as everyone else watched with curiosity. “And what’s that supposed to mean dork? What could you two have possibly been doing that could be used as a credible alibi?” He asked with an eyebrow raised. You opened your mouth but no words came out.

"Because we’re dating, and we just happened to be getting more action than you have in your entire life on July 4th, Reggie.“ Jughead replied with a narrowed eyes and a smirk as he pulled you into his side. You along with everyone else in the room gasped. "I thought we weren’t going to tell anyone!?” You whispered loudly.

“Ooooh Reggie got burned!” Someone shouted leading to everyone laughing causing him to storm out of the lounge with a pissed off look. You looked back up at Jughead with awe and confusion all at the same time. “What? I couldn’t let him go off on my girl like that.” He simply stated making you feel all fuzzy inside as you smiled at him widely before kissing him on the cheek making him blush.

the 4th is where the soul is free and true, no limitations. how honest we can be and express ourselves depends on the strength of our inner world, our roots, the foundation from which we grow.

afflictions to 1st, 7th, and 10th must be resolved through the 4th. no tree can grow without taking care of its roots.

sun in the 4th lights up their heart, these types may be equally introverted and extroverted, and are brilliantly creative. they may be known for their sensitive nature, but also a deep desire for comfort- creature comforts are in abundance with these people (think: blankets, stuffed animals, food, collectables, etc). the sign the sun falls in shows how their inner sanctuary is expressed, and how they share this world with others.

moon in the 4th knows the importance of security, and builds walls to protect themselves with each bruise and gash. they have a rich imagination and may live in the past, or in a comforting haze of daydreams. these types know how to endure, and will hide away when life gets too hard, only to resurface once its cleared up. they are in tune to the highest degree with their true wants, needs and self. these types may or may not be introverts, but they certainly do require a large chunk of alone time on a regular basis.

mercury in the 4th can speak from the heart, and can put their emotions into logical thought. these types may ruminate on the past and are likely introverted. they may seem blunt or strange but their words reflect their true self, and might not always make sense logically. keeping a journal or taking up some creative form of communication is likely.

venus in the 4th seeks familiarity in their relationships, and often goes for those who remind them of an ideal, or stick with partners for a very long time. they long to dote on others, and to be cared for in a sweet romantic way. they need to be protected as difficult experiences in love could harden their heart easily. the arts are likely to be a strong interest.

mars in the 4th may be in conflict with themselves, and have a hostile or energetic inner self. inside is a passionate or angry soul, an assertive and emotional nature can be hidden inside, and only burst out under extreme pressure or in private. they can be hard on themselves, workaholics who are always pushing themselves. these types need a reliable stress outlet, as it seems they can only express difficult feelings in private.

jupiter in the 4th is their truest self, and is gifted with an infinite inner home, and outer home as well. these types can retreat inside and find wisdom in their intuition, meditation and divination come naturally to these types. their mind is always wandering, and there is an inner optimism that carries them through any difficulty. the inner sanctuary is vast and these types know themselves and the universe well.

saturn in the 4th may feel like they are never good enough, and are always pushing to change and better themselves. this could easily become repressive and miserable, but these types can also find inside them an inner drive to always be true to themselves- saturn does not tolerate anything but the truth, these people cannot hide from themselves. their failures can be what propels them towards 10th house success, or collapses them into self-induced despair.

2

This was my favorite part of this episode. Here’s why:

So here comes Daesung, trailing after Seungri, hands full with bowls of washed lettuce and whatnot. He’s taking his sweet time and, in typical introvert fashion, complaining about how he isn’t ready to return to camp yet (“I don’t feel like going back”)… but the second he sees TOP tending to the fire his demeanor changes.

He’s all, “Whoa, look at that fire! You okay over there?” There’s a teasing note to it, yes. Because he’s already been on TOP’s case once today about the importance of washing his hands before handling meat that they’re all going to eat, come on, hyung.

But just underneath that there’s genuine concern, too. Because Daesung cares. And TOP is Big Bang’s big baby, after all. Someone’s gotta look after him. Daesung doesn’t call himself his nanny for nothing; one look at TOP dutifully manning the grill and he knows he’s having a hard time.

At Daesung’s voice TOP turns and– finally, someone who will listen to him! “The tongs are too short,” he complains, though by now he’s laughing at himself a little too. He knows his problems are trivial, but he just… he needs to unload on someone. The fire is hot! It hurts his hand! Why won’t anyone acknowledge that he’s struggling?

Poor TOP, the others all shot him down when he made a fuss about the heat from the fire burning his hand: “What do you want! Leave me alone!” They were so done with him right from the start; they had work of their own to do and no patience for his whining. But then along came Daesung, offering him an ear and an opportunity to vent his frustrations a bit. And really, sometimes that’s all TOP needs to keep going: someone who recognizes that, above all, he just wants to be heard.

Daesung is so good to him. 😭 😭 😭

11 THINGS THAT EXPLAIN WHAT IT’S LIKE TO BE AN INTROVERTED EMPATH

If you’re an empath, you probably already know that you see and feel things in a unique way. Empaths have the innate ability to truly understand other people, whether they know them well or not. With their unprecedented abilities to be selfless in a self-serving world, empaths might often feel used by others or out of place. But empaths, I’m here to let you know there are more people like you out there than you think. Upon discovering the term “empath,” it really helped explain a few things about why I am the way I am. There are a lot of ways I can describe my personality: introverted, INFJ, or a highly sensitive person (HSP), but I think being an empath is really at the core of who I am. (What’s your personality type? We recommend this free personality test.)

So, here are 11 things that helped me explain some of the out-of-the-ordinary parts of my personality I didn’t understand before. They may not be true for every introverted empath, but they are definitely true to the empath in me:

1. Empaths walk in other people’s shoes with little effort. One of the easiest things for an empath to do is understand what another person is going through. That is, in essence, the definition of the word “empathy,” which Merriam-Webster describes as “the action of understanding, being aware of, being sensitive to, and vicariously experiencing the feelings, thoughts, and experience of another.” In short, empathy is walking in someone’s shoes even if they’ve walked a completely different path than anything you’ve experienced. Now, this isn’t to say that empaths have a supernatural ability to comprehend any human situation, experience, or feeling — we’re just better at it than most.

2. We feel deeply. I don’t know how else to explain it, but it’s as if my emotions seem to be more heightened than others around me. This can be both a blessing and a curse. On the upside, people will know I care about them without me even having to really say it. However, there are times where a greater tendency towards apathy would make my life easier; it’s tiring to constantly be experiencing strong emotions. For example, when I’m grieving — whether it be the loss of a loved one or a dramatic and unpleasant change in my life — my insomnia worsens, my moods plunge, I listen to a lot of sad music, and it becomes all too easy to choke up and lose myself.

3. We can be brought to tears over seemingly insignificant things. I’ve cried while looking at an exhibit in a museum, reading books, listening to someone tell a story, and especially while watching or reading the news. Tears come easy to me but when they do, I often need to assess where they’re coming from: the empath in me or the HSP. Both aspects of my personality can lead to an emotional response, but it’s important to identify in myself where the emotion is coming from in order to move on from that moment.

4. We are passionate. One reason we may get emotional easily is that we have a large capacity for passion. If there’s a subject, people group, or situation we truly care about helping, we will throw ourselves into the effort. If we believe what we’re doing will truly help someone, we may even be willing to go out of our comfort zones to get it done — even us introverted empaths.

5. We listen because we truly care. It’s against our nature not to care. We go beyond the shallow definition of “people-pleaser” because we not only place a lot of value in how others perceive us but also in that we don’t want to let anyone down. We have a passion for other people, and one thing about people is they love to feel heard. As empaths, we know this and look to offer a listening ear.

6. We love serving. Empaths have servant hearts: It’s hard for us to see suffering and not want to help. When we’re choosing how to spend our time, we often look for activities that have a purpose and meaning behind them. While I’ve been a student, I’ve always been drawn to organizations surrounding volunteer work. Maybe it’s partially nurture — how I was raised — but I think it’s also definitely a part of my nature, linked to the empath I am. Looking after others is also one of the ways we ourselves feel fulfilled because it’s often easier to focus on the struggles of others rather than ourselves.

7. We get other people’s feelings but not always our own. It’s kind of like having the ability to know who is crushing on your friend but being completely oblivious to the possibility that someone likes you. Reading other people’s feelings? For an empath, that’s a piece of cake. Sorting out our own inner turmoil? More often than not, a complete and utter fail. You’d think self-awareness is a fundamental human trait, but for some of us, it’s a bit trickier to figure out. Empaths feel and understand so much that sifting out their own feelings from the feelings of others can be a daunting task — albeit a necessary one.

8. We read people well. Empaths often consider the effect their words will have on the listener, because they want to know that what they’re saying or doing isn’t going to negatively impact someone. This mode of calculated conversation and action can provide empaths with a large store of knowledge as to what makes people tick.

9. We have strong, lasting connections with people we may not have interacted with in years. Once we bond with someone, it can often take on a “till-death-do-us-part” type of existence. Distance, separation, and time may cause our surface level relationship to corrode, but we still feel a strong affinity for the person who meant a lot to us at one point in time, even long after we’ve parted ways.

10. We’re often labeled as being overly sensitive or emotional. Telling someone that an emotional response makes them weak is an argument people have been using against various groups for ages. They may not be singled out in this, but empaths often fall into one or more of the groups under such reproach. Especially if you’re a male empath, people might see your sensitivity and tell you that you need to “man up.” Our culture associates masculinity and power with rationality — as if an emotional response is never the rational one. (Personally, I think there are many scenarios in which it could be construed as highly irrational to lack any emotion.) So empaths, stay strong in your own uniquely sensitive way; the world could use a whole lot more people like you.

11. Empaths are sought after but often underappreciated. Not all empaths are introverts, but the ones that are tend to be affected more by this one. When you’re a genuine, attentive listener who gives good advice, people and their problems tend to flock to you. It doesn’t even matter if they know you hardly at all, but something about empaths makes people decide to bare their souls. It’s not really that much of a shock that this happens if you consider how good at being understanding empaths are, though it can at times become frustrating. We do care immensely about the well-being of others, and that’s why we may bite our tongues and sit down to listen to someone rant about the same things again. However, empaths need to beware of one-sided relationships where they’re giving all of themselves and not receiving anywhere near the same in return.

A Final Note to Empaths

My dear empaths, you were born hard-wired to put others first. Your selfless attitude is both courageous and compassionate. Just don’t forget that it’s important to take care of yourself, too. There will be people who won’t appreciate your sensitivity or will seek to use your empathetic demeanor for their own gain; and these are the people that are not worth anguishing over. Instead, seek out the people and the places that will value you and support you as much as you support them. And don’t let someone convince you that caring for other people isn’t worth it. But then again, I’m sure you know that already.
