How to quickly add PSDs to your icons

Or– create an action that’ll automatically do all the work for you.

After making 400+ icons, I tend to dread individually applying each PSD to each one– making the switch between PSDs or errors in ones I already used extremely annoying, so I figured out a way to do it without doing it.

hi, i've been looking through icon borders and i've noticed that you guys have a few circle and/or other shaped borders available for download, and i've been trying to figure out how to use those on gifs, so if one of you could make a tutorial on that, that'd be great! i know i figured it out a while ago but i tried again and i can't seem to get it, so it's sort of driving me crazy. thanks!

Under the cut is how to make something like this:

For this tutorial, you need to have:

  • Photoshop (I’m using CS5 Extended)
  • The timeline option (but it might work without as well).

PSD is shared at the bottom as per usual.

did you finish your icon tutorial yet? no rush just curious! :)

Yes I did!!! I’m so so so so sorry for the long wait. I wanted to have a few friends look at it before I published it to make sure everything was well explained and easy to understand!

Requirements for this tutorial:

  • Adobe Photoshop CC 2015 (what I will be using in this tutorial)
  • Time and patience (pretty important tbh)
  • I recommend using a wireless/wired mouse as it will be far easier to use one than using a trackpad
  • HQ Screencaps

In this tutorial I will be showing you how I made a 100x100 icon from my Halloween Icon Pack | You can see more of my icons on my icons page

New Header Tutorial :)

Okay today I am going to teach you how to make a header something like this :

or this

I will try to show you to my best abilities to teach you how to make this, I got bored so I wanted to do this  but anyways the first thing you do is

1. Open up PhotoShop it doesn’t matter which version but in my case I am using (CS5)

2. Press Ctrl +N = New imagine. and make the size 500x167 like so

3. Then you go to your PNG’s or Tumblr PNG’s what ever floats your boat but if you don’t have any I am going to put where I got my pngs from here  x

I am going to use Bart cause he is one of favorites.

Okay so once you open up your png you change your header background color to any color you desire but I prefer the gray look that you see in the picture I first posted above.

I put the color number inside of the pic.. but anyways once you add your color to you header, add your png to you header and position it the way you want it.

This is how mine came out and I didn’t even add a psd yet. I love it like that but we are not done yet.

Make sure you sharpen it, and add Topaz to this to make it look more neat.

Then add Topaz ( Note: Of you don’t have topaz labs then just look around tumblr “Topaz tutorial” )

Once you add your topaz just add your water mark and you are all good to go. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and I’m sorry if I was rambling on but I like to talk a lot. If you have any questions just @ me on twitter @/Journalsjiley or message me on here

Oh and if you want add a psd but I am not, cause I think it looks nice like this.

Send me messages for other tutorials you would like me to do

How does one save PSD and add them to gifs? I have a bunch I want to try out but no clue how to add them when I'm editing. Do you have any suggestions?

I’ll help you out. If you’ve just edited a photo and you like the psd and want to save it and go to “file”. Then rather than clicking in “save for web & devices” like we do when we want to save a gif, you click in “save as…” instead. In the format, save it as “Photoshop (*.PSD; *PDD)”.

If you want to add a PSD you saved to another gif. Just open the PSD file that you saved, select all the layer (except the photo) like this

And then just drag them with your mouse

And place them over the gif you want to add the PSD to and that’s it. Basically you’re kinda just transferring the PSD from one gif to the other. I hope I made it clear. I kinda suck at explaining haha If you have any doubt, let me know and I will try to explain better.

any tips to iconing a live action face claim that's the main character of a few hour movie such as wizard of oz and slimming down the hundred and hundreds of screencaps you'll get of the character?

oh hi sweetie i’ll try to help as much as i can ! well what i did with dorothy is i found screen-caps of the wizard of oz and used my snipping tool ( which should be already on your computer you just have to search for it ) and crop out the pictures of judy from the screencaps and save them into a file ( i have three folders for dorothy icons: 1 ) dorothy 2 ) cartoon dorothy and 3 ) older dorothy. my method of doing things is not the fastest by any means, i use picmonkey to resize mine to 90x90 but i have no idea how to add psd’s or anything like that.

i’m so sorry this is terrible, but my computer is clogged with screencaps tbh so i’m not that great at slimming down but i think focusing on one character does help. and i don’t icon every single moment that dorothy is on screen. i’m still not done making icons actually haha.

how to color photos without lightening skin tones

lately the trend in psds seem to be washed out and pale, and let me tell you, it grinds my gears

not only are these psds made to cater only fair-skinned celebs, but it washes out and lightens darker skin, which is well…terrible for dark skinned celebs

i made the psd “don’t lighten me” which is a very basic psd that can be used to make a nice simple edit, but what if you want to get creative with colors?

i basically made this as a level-up to the psd, it’ll show you that how to add colors to edits without lightening skin
