how they argued about if her character is dead or not

PLEASE TELL THE CHILDREN THE STORY OF MS. STUBELS

Grace fuck, why would you invoke her name like that???

Okay, fine, gather round children, buckle up because we’re going on a bumpy ride back to everyone’s collective least favorite place: 7th grade.

Some background: I went to a very small Catholic school. One class per grade (we were the largest with 19 kids), everyone knew each other whether they wanted to or not. Despite basically every teacher and faculty members insistence that we were The Best And Most Special Class In The School and that everyone loved having us, the longstanding 7th grade teacher Mrs. O’Hara decided to retire in the summer of 2008, meaning the school had to find us a new teacher for the upcoming year. This would be like, the first new teacher in the school in a while, and as she was getting the ‘best class’, it was viewed as a Big Deal. Somewhere in like July or August we got a letter announcing Mrs. Stubel, and it came with a list of books to pick for the summer reading, and that was basically all the information we had.

So…the first day of class. She seems nice enough. Very…ditsy, I guess? It was very easy for her to get herself off topic while talking. She constantly paced around the room, never staying in one spot for longer than a second, complaining she has restless leg syndrome. Which like, I’m sure she did, but she was in the middle of introducing herself and then went on a 20 minute tangent about restless leg syndrome without anyone prompting her. It was almost like you could see her scattered thoughts flying around her head.

So anyone, she eventually gives somewhat of an introduction- she had only taught in public schools before, and kept worrying she ‘didn’t know’ how to teach in a Catholic school despite the entire class insisting literally nothing was different, you just teach the curriculum, twice a week we have religion class with Sister Mary King, that’s literally it (she still talked over us in worry), she told us about her kids, she told us about her obsession with Emily Dickinson, stuff like that.

And then she hands us this worksheet.

She’s like, “Oh, these are just some basic questions for you to answer! Just so I can get to know you guys better!” like in lieu of an icebreaker game, which is fine, but…the questions. The questions were all “What is your most haunting fear?”, “What is your deepest regret?”, “Have you ever experienced the pain of loss?”, “What was your worst injury?”, “What was your worst nightmare?”, all questions like that, and then on the back she wanted us to draw a gravestone and write out what we wanted our epitaph to be.

We were twelve year olds, mind you.

Oh my God and one girl missed the first day because of her grandmother’s funeral, so when she came the next day and saw what the teacher was insisting she do for homework, she almost had a panic attack? And the lady still made her do it? Literally who wants to think about death anymore at a time like that omfg.

Okay, so then we get to the summer reading book reports, right? Now, she had given a list of maybe, 20 books that you could pick from, read it, and then present an oral report on it. You had to have notecards and you had to be able to answer questions from the class at the end. All in all, I’ve had worse projects.

So, on this list, she apparently put Madeleine L’Engle’s entire book series on the list…only she did not make it known that this was a series and not multiple stand alone books, so when reports started up it caused mass-panic of kids trying to put together plot points and make connections on what the hell they had read.

I was the only kid in the class who had chosen to read “A Wrinkle In Time”, and that has since lead to a series of events that…really actually scares me, I’m still incredibly freaked out, I’m not going to get into it right now because it’ll take away from the current story, but just know that I’m not above wondering if it only happened because I read the book for Stubel.

Anyway, so like, I got through the report okay. The class asking questions about it was fine, but the teacher kept asking questions that didn’t make sense, like, at all. My friend Angie has always had super neat handwriting and Mrs. Stubel got like, obsessed with her notecards and asked if she could borrow them for something. When we got our grades back a few weeks later, Angie had points taken off for not having notecards.

And then her teaching just…didn’t happen. She’d never stay on a topic, she’d always get herself distracted! We were not learning anything. And like, this wasn’t a class of advanced smart kids that loved to learn. By all accounts we should’ve been thrilled. But it got out of hand. It got to points where we had to start teaching lessons to ourselves, asking teacher from other grades for help, always coming home in tears, complaining constantly to our parents and the principal because this woman wasn’t teaching us anything. There were two kids who asked her multiple times for extra help, and she told them each time to ‘talk to me after school’, but then she’d leave immediately after school so they wouldn’t be able to talk to her. They finally brought up the issue in the middle of class and she had a breakdown, yelling about how nobody ever thinks that maybe the teacher has a lot of work to do, and maybe she’s entitled to taking off early, but when we tried to argue she shouldn’t schedule meetings and then break them off in the name of relaxation, she stormed out of the room and tried to get the principal to give us detention. (Which, like, our school didn’t even do, and she was the only one in the wrong during this situation) We are still in September at this point, and already at least ten kids have parents considering transferring them to another school. (And remember, there was only 19 of us, and most of the class had been together since preschool, so that was a big deal).

Then, she starts coming in with all the weird bruises. All the Moms™ immediately started gossiping that her husband had to be beating her, and that’s why she was so screwy in the head. But the way she talked about her husband made it seem like he *might* be dead, and we actually did witness her fall and smack her head into a doorknob once, so no one really knew what to believe. (Also, I’m not trying to imply that abuse would make someone crazy or ‘damaged’ or anything, this is just what was being said. I think they were trying to turn her into a more sympathetic character, because if you feel sorry for her you don’t have to hate her for frustrating your kids so much, and Hate Is A Bad Emotion.)

Also…this woman and Emily Dickinson.

She talked about Emily Dickinson every chance she could get. None of us knew who Emily Dickinson really was before she got there and you could see in her mind it was a capitol offense. She found out the curriculum didn’t have room to cover her (because like, we had a text book), and was way too upset about it. She started reading her poems whenever she found the time (usually somewhere in history class), and always gave us very detailed accounts about her dressing up as Emily and reading her poetry at the library.

Now, two things to note here:

  1. The library did not hire her to do this. She would literally just get in the mood, put on an Emily Dickinson costume that she made by herself, drive to different libraries, and just read poetry out loud to everyone there until someone eventually asked her to leave.
  2. The way she described these events…her tone, the look on her face, her posture…you could just tell that she was getting some sort of sexual gratification out of this? Like dressing up as Emily Dickinson in public and reading her sad poems is really what got this lady’s jollies rocking? Got her all hot and bothered? Which is…a lot, but why would you tell a bunch of seventh graders about it holy shit. What about that sounds like a good idea! What about that turns you back on!

So anyway, we learned a lot about Emily Dickinson against our will.

One of the Davids™ was reading a book for pleasure- which shouldn’t have been a shocker, a lot of kids always had books on them, but Stubel got really interested and asked if she could borrow it from him. He was like ‘sure, after I finish it?’ but she took it that day. He asked her for it back for like five weeks straight.

And…the strudels.

Okay, so the school was trying some dorky thing to promote ~togetherness~ or some virtue or something, I don’t remember the specifics of why, but each class had to make a huge themed poster and hang it on the wall outside the classroom. Which was like, whatever, not the most thrilling project but at least it allowed us to be productive vs just sitting there as the teacher runs about the room rambling about her family vacation from four years ago. Mrs. Stubel decided we needed a quirky nickname and after like three days of deliberation we were christened “Stubel’s Special Strudels”!

(points for alliteration or whatever, but no one actually voted for that and what exactly do strudels have to do with Catholicism? It became a big running joke amongst the kids)

Also, in case you were wondering, she didn’t explain the assignment correctly to us- so every other class had like these beautiful, artistic, well-themed and put together posters, while ours was just…literally a bunch of shit thrown together on paper. Nothing fit with each other, it was literally embarrassing to look at.

But then…she wouldn’t drop the strudel thing. Like she kept bringing it up. She got really into strudels and would just tell us random shit about them. Finally, someone jokes that we should get strudels one day for a party (like instead of a pizza party), and she’s Freaking Out and On Board. She really wants to buy us strudels and have a breakfast party now. She talked about it for like two days straight.

So like… you know in school when you would have a pizza party, usually the teacher would buy it? That’s how they always happened in my experience (not counting the last day of 10th grade when some kid had pizza delivered to the school for lunch but it didn’t get there until math class lol). But especially in grade school? Like if it wasn’t a PTA made party that’s super organized, the school would buy the food, right? Right?

Yeah, so she was like, if this is happening you guys need to give me the money. Just give me the money and then I’ll pick them up on my way to work!! And after some arguing some kids are on board. Strudels should only cost a couple dollars right?

And she’s like, oh no, I’m gonna get them from this high end bakery near my house so it’ll be special, but they’re not cheap and it’ll be a big order! I’m gonna need like fifteen dollars from each of you!

And at this point I’m just like…lady. Come on.

But she keeps insisting. She’s not gonna go until every student in class pays up.

And I’m like…I’m poor. I don’t even like strudel.  And some of the less-naïve kids are siding with me.

And then she pulls that “you guys are just spoiling all the fun for your classmates” shit, like the naïve kids who already paid up, so it gets to the point where we just gotta cave and give her the money.

(I ended up stealing it out of my Crazy Bitch Aunt’s wallet so it’s whatever, I guess.)

And then of course, shockingly enough, every morning she was met with “where are the strudels?” and every morning she went wide eyed, slapped her forehead and yelled in embarrassed horror “I totally forgot! Tomorrow, guys, I promise!”

Honestly, with how scatterbrained and confused she always was…like to this day I can’t tell you with 100% certainty whether she hustled us or was just actually forgetting about the damn pastries, I choose to lean towards the hustled us side because that’s just the type of people I’m used to, but if I found out it was innocent forgetfulness I wouldn’t exactly be surprised.

She couldn’t handle more than one person talking at a time. Like, we’d have break periods, or group work, or something and all the talking made her go wide-eyed and batty. She’d look overworked and anxious and would be darting around the room trying to do work or something but she couldn’t focus and she’d yell at anyone who tried to talk to her directly. I remember one time she was using this boys desk for something so he asked “where am I supposed to sit?” and she snapped “Sit on the ceiling for all I care!”. And this kid was the Class Clown™ , so he immediately grabbed a chair in one hand and started climbing the bookcase to try and reach the ceiling. She’s standing right next to this and doesn’t even notice. He got all four chair legs planted on the ceiling and was trying to somehow maneuver his way into the chair (I really don’t know what the plan was exactly- he was really tall and it was a small building, so I think he probably had the idea that if he can get his body upside down and in the chair, and stretch out his arms like a hand-stand to hold onto bookcase, he could arguably sit on the ceiling.) but he slipped. Crashed into my desk and the two desks next to me, knocked over the book case, broke the chair in half and hit the desks with enough force to knock them down lower. It was hilarious. Everyone was loosing their shit cracking up (he was fine) and it still took Stubel like five minutes to notice his lying out across the desks right in front of her eyes. She was pissed but how did she miss any of it in the first place? She was barely being helpful in whatever it was she was trying to do.

This was the year the Phillies were going to the World Series, and all the grades were having a Phillies Rally in the cafeteria so a news crew was coming to the school and each class was supposed to come up with fun little cheers for them to broadcast. Multiple cheer ideas were presented to her and she vetoed all of them, someone even suggested just singing the damn eagles theme song with replaced words and calling it a day but she vetoed that too, she was very adamant that she could come up with a cheer all by herself and it’ll be the best one (whoever had the best cheer was winning like an ice cream day or something idk). And then like…literally five minutes before the rally she just hands us signs with the letters and was like ‘we’re just gonna spell out Phillies it will be cute won’t it my strudels???’. We were the weakest class there, predictably. I think we lost to the kindergarteners. There might still be a video online of me yelling “ i “ passionately at the top of my lungs. It was online bc our cheer was so bland the news crew cut it out of the broadcast.

I literally can’t say enough about how she never taught us anything. She’d be going on some tangent about how she doesn’t understand the science behind skiing, and I’d be like “Okay yes but please can you just tell me where Romania is on a map???” And she’d start fights whenever someone actually wanted to learn. It was so easy to get her angry but so hard for her to stay on topic. Kids started teaching the class themselves! Like seriously, she’d be rambling and one of us would just go up to the podium, open the teacher’s guide textbook and just start reading out loud and talking over her. By the time she noticed we’d be halfway through a lesson. And we understood it better than when she tried! You know something’s wrong when pre-teens are more qualified for a job than an adult who supposedly went to school for this.

We were in the church having run-throughs for our upcoming Confirmation and she almost set the church on fire…fifteen different times. In less than half an hour. How hard is it to hold a candle?

Okay, and here’s when stuff starts kicking up. It was October 28th, a Tuesday, and it was our last day of school that week because they were having parent-teacher conferences the rest of the week. So we were just hanging out, watching movies in class and reading (lord knows we weren’t learning), and Stubel calls me over to her desk.

So like, she had given everyone little bags with candy for Halloween, but I get up there and she hands me an extra one. And she’s like “Molly I know your birthday is tomorrow and I bought you a present but I left it on my coffee table this morning by accident! So just have the candy for now!”

And I’m like….”Ma’am I’m like, the sixth birthday this year. You didn’t give anyone else presents?”

And she goes “Oh, I know but this is a special secret surprise. I just know you’re gonna love it! Do you wanna stop by my house later this week to pick it up or should I just give it to you Monday after school?”

And like…In writing this sounds like a non-threatening exchange, and like, it was, but I felt so uncomfortable holy shit. I’m looking over my shoulder and shooting my friends SOS signals. Something about this felt so weird in my gut omfg. I told her thanks and I’d just see her Monday.

So we flash forward to Wednesday- my 13th birthday, the day the Phillies won the world series, and also the day my mother innocently strolled into the school for her meeting only to be met with screaming, the sound of heavy destruction, and the school secretary Mrs. Daily running at her in a panic, waving her arms and yelling “YOUR MEETING IS CANCELLED YOUR MEETING IS CANCELLED GET IN MY OFFICE NOW!”

So my poor mother, who thought she could handle this whole meeting in a few minutes and barely be an hour late for work, is now barricaded in the front office with the school secretary, as the noises from down the hall get louder and louder. The woman explains that they had gotten so many complaints about Mrs. Stubel that this morning, when she got to the school, the principal Sister Patricia called her in and said “Listen, we need you to be professional and still have the parent conferences, but we have to let you go. We just don’t think you fit in well here, and the kids need to come first and feel comfortable in their school.” and like, I’m paraphrasing because I wasn’t there, but we all know she was very polite and professional about it.

Mrs. Stubel, however…was not.

She flipped her chair and stormed out of the office, and locks herself in the seventh grade classroom. She started wrecking the shit out of that place, screaming obscenities and the top of her lungs, they had to call the cops on her! She was locked in there for almost an hour! And let me just give you a nice little list of everything she did in that classroom:

  • Smashed three windows.
  • Threw everything off her desk and carved swear words all over it.
  • Got cleaning fluid that she knew would damage the chalk boards, smeared it all over.
  • Cracked the chalk boards by repeatedly smashing chairs against them.
  • Wrote swear words all over the walls and on desks
  • Went into students desks, ripped up their books.
  • Stole my glasses. (which were in my desk bc I only used them in class at the time)
  • Threw some desks around.
  • Carved swear words into the boards. (there was so much carving I’m assuming she just had a knife on her person, which has to lead to the question, did she have a knife on her while she was in class with us?)
  • Physically ripped the hooks to hang backpacks on out of the wall.
  • Knocked the closet door off it’s hinges.
  • Ripped up all the books in the bookcases and threw their pages all around the room.
  • Wrote lewd phrases inside student’s desks.
  • Broke multiple chairs.
  • Used her podium as a battering ram against the wall that’s in front of where the backpacks go. (the wall won but Damage Was Inflicted)
  • Set a fire in the trash can.
  • When the principal and other teachers started trying to get in, she tossed her rolling chair at the door to scare them off.
  • She was screaming curse words at the top of her lungs the entire time, and cursing the school and the kids and the principal and the church in general, and the school building was small, so all the parents and the smaller children that had to come to the meetings (who were locked in their respective classrooms in fear) heard everything.
  • So much more? But it’s 4:30 in this morning and this list is already long.

So my mom is in the front office and deadass the

entire police force

shows up, running down the hallway to the classroom yelling at her to stop, and it takes a while for them to get her out holy shit. They knocked down the door and she tried to escape out of one of the broken windows! But they got her and dragged her out.

So of course, in such a small school with very involved parents this shit spread like wildfire. The entire town knew within the day. The poor principal called the newly retired old-seventh grade teacher and was like “So we…need some help” and the lady was like “I already heard I’ll be there Monday” omfg. I remember I got a text from one of my classmates saying “if your birthday wish was for us to be set free from the beast I love you” omfg.

So, we eventually go back to school on Monday and everyone’s buzzing. The principal has us go to the cafeteria and she ‘delicately’ explains the situation, and that the old teacher is coming out of retirement for us, the school has a restraining order against Mrs. Stubel now and that she’s sorry we had to deal with this mess. Our classroom had to go under some heavy reconstruction before we could be let back in there, so for like two weeks we alternated between the cafeteria and the preschooler’s classroom, we had no books or anything, just provided loose-leaf paper and pens. It was like, surreal, but everyone was just so happy to be rid of her and to be in the presence of a competent teacher omfg. We eventually were able to get back into our usual classroom.

  1. It took a while for things to go completely back to normal, though. After the big spectacle she made, for weeks after she was fired we were all very scared of the possibility of Mrs. Stubel returning to the school with a gun in hand. It was always a topic we whispered about at lunch with wide eyes and shivers. Like…genuine nightmare scenario.
  2. About two weeks after she was fired, a boy in the back of the classroom gasped loudly during SSR, and when we all looked at him, he whispered in anger “She never gave us our freakin’ strudels!”
  3. About three months after she was fired, we were lined up at the door to go to Library when a few of us looked through the windows and saw something darting through the trees. It was fast and we couldn’t make anything out, so we let it drop. When the class and teacher returned half and hour later, the book she had borrowed months before from one of the boys was sitting on his desk. It was just laying there, the room was silent, nothing had been disturbed…but I have never seen a book look so threatening. People were freaking out. Someone kept insisting that she turned the book into a bomb. No one figure out how she got in the school, and no one could figure out how she got it on the right desk, as we had switched the seating arrangement since she had last been there.
  4. A full six months after she had left, it was nearing the end of the school year and our class was dicking around during our last computer class. Someone found a website (that we weren’t allowed to be on) that pulls up any police records attached to whoever’s name you enter, so someone decided to search Mrs. Stubel as a joke. We ended up finding out she had like six DUI’s.

Aaaaand that’s the story of the horrendous teacher I had for two months in 7th grade. One of my favorite party stories but tbh she still haunts me™ .

Truth: Arrow 5x20 Review (Underneath)

Arrow isn’t a perfect television show. To be fair, I don’t know one that is, but I never needed Arrow to be perfect.  All I need from Arrow is a good story.  My frustrations with Oliver and Felicity’s break up, and the Baby Mama storyline, aren’t a secret. I found their break up to be wildly problematic on multiple levels. However, the one caveat I always held to was if Arrow can piece together some interesting character growth for Oliver and Felicity it would go a long way of easing my ruffled feathers. We’ve been dealing with the ramifications of Oliver’s lie about William since 4x08. That’s 35 episodes. We’ve waited a long time for Oliver and Felicity’s individual arcs to come to fruition.

The wait was worth it. At least for me.

Our perceptions of “good story” vary as widely as our perceptions of “perfect” but “Underneath” is a good story for me.  It’s almost perfect. 35 episodes. This road was long. It was hard but, in the end, I feel like I understand. It connects all the dots that need to be connected (and some I didn’t expect) while delivering some real character development that feels earned.

In the midst of the crazy world of arrows, masks, Mirakuru soldiers, 15 different canaries and Barry Allen resides the relationships between Oliver and Felicity

and Original Team Arrow.

These characters, and the love they have for one another, is the sanity in all the madness. It’s the real in the fiction. Oliver, Felicity and Diggle are the beating heart of Arrow for a reason. The love we have for these characters is the reason we watch and “Underneath” returns Arrow to center. It focuses on the love stories that made us fall in love with the show. In particularly, it brings Oliver and Felicity’s individual arcs to fruition and FINALLY merges their roads into one again.

Trust. Honesty. Forgiveness. Compassion. Humility. These aren’t always popular concepts in our society, but they are the building blocks to any relationship. You lose one, the whole house can come down on you. Love feels like it has its own inertia, like it chooses you and not the other way around. And maybe that’s true. Maybe we can’t choose who we love.  However, we can choose how we love.

If you are either Team Felicity or Team Oliver in the break-up- Baby-Mama-drama then there’s probably things about “Underneath” you didn’t like. As for me, I believe there are things both Oliver and Felicity need to learn from the breakup and “Underneath” addresses those things. But more than anything, I am ready for Arrow to rebuild what they broke. I am ready for Arrow to fix it. Are you?

Buckle up. This is, by far, my longest review. We’re going all the way back to the pilot and discuss about five different episodes. This took me about 22 hours to write. No need to comment on how long it is. I am well are.

Let’s dig in…

The Eternal Problem: A Meditation on Mortality in Sherlock S4

When asked about S4 during the promotional lead-up, Moftiss repeatedly said this new series would be about one thing: consequences.  Now that we stand on the other side of S4, what do we think they meant?  It obviously wasn’t legal consequences for shooting Magnussen, or physical consequences of overdosing on drugs.

In this meta, I argue that TAB and S4 are above all about the moral, metaphysical, and narrative consequences of Sherlock faking his death during the Reichenbach Fall—an act which continues to reverberate through the story two series later, both for the characters and, significantly, for the writers.

"Go then!! Leave!! See if I care!!" scenario between RFA members + MC :)

(i legit cracked my knuckles before starting to write bc I just KNOW this is going to be a long wall of text filled with angst boiiiii… ALSO this has a sorta happy ish ending bc…… my mood is too high up to write pure angst???? crushes can destroy a person rip)

((also I didn’t write V?? because I love him and honestly I can’t… squeeze my brain to get a clear image of what he’d do??? if I find a good and actually logical reaction, I’ll add him later on- but this is already super long and all-sorry!))

Yoosung

  • it’s hard for Yoosung to express his anger in a healthy way
  • he’d usually just play LOLOL and beat up monsters until he felt calm, but…
  • he can’t quite do that
  • MC had told him clearly:
  • he’s spending so much time on the game, it feels like MC is living alone
  • deep in his heart, he knows it’s true
  • with the increasing difficulty of classes, he just… naturally dove deeper and deeper into LOLOL
  • when he counted back, how much time had he spent with MC…?
  • had he even spent time with them in the past month?
  • it’s just when MC asks him for what seems like the hundredth time if he’s going to turn off the computer
  • it’s that what just sets off the stress
  • he really hates the anger he can feel bubbling up in him, but he can’t even avoid it
    • “Will you shut up?! I’ve answered you before! No! How hard can it be to understand?!”
  • it’s hard to tell who’s more shocked
  • him or MC
  • “What- what the fuck, Yoosung?! I’m just trying to spend some time with m boyfriend! Is it that wrong?! Would you rather just me leave?!”
  • he replies without thinking too much
  • his head is too full of anger led by stress
    • “Nothing is stopping you! The door is there for you to leave!”
  • he wasn’t shocked when MC ran out the room
  • he…. knew he’d acted like an asshole
  • what shocks him is the sound of the front door being slammed shut
  • he suddenly feels all the guilt washing up on him and he calls MC
  • no answer
  • he sits by the door for hours, but they don’t come
  • a week passes
  • every time he enters the chat they leave
  • his grades are dropping, he’s gaming for longer, and he can’t remember the last time he even ate a proper meal
  • he could have probably collapsed when the second week rolled around
  • living off cereal and random energy drinks he bought and gaming all day
  • it gets his mind off the trouble
  • when MC finally comes back, it’s more for concern about his health
  • at first he thinks he’s reached his limit. he’s hallucinating- stared too much at a screen and fried his brain. it can’t be. it can’t be MC. it’s a prank
  • MC scolds him- how could he let it get this bad? he could literally collapse and probably even die!- and also hugs him
  • both feel guilty, and Yoosung can’t even stop crying and apologizing as he hugs MC

Jaehee

  • little by little her stress builds up
  • this recipe didn’t come out like she wanted
  • too much work
  • her CD player broke
  • small things add up and up and don’t ever go down
  • it probably takes a full month before she’s at the limit
  • and it’s like a delicate sculpture- even the smallest touch could shatter her patience at this point
  • and that little touch just so happens to be delivered by MC
  • it’s a small mistake
  • just washing the dishes and accidentally breaking off a mug’s handle
    • “Gosh, sorry love, I’ll put this in the trash before one of us accidentally cuts themselves with the jagged end-”
  • Jaehee hears nothing
  • this has been the most stressful and tense month of her life AND NOW THIS HAPPENS, AT HOME, WHERE HER CALMNESS IS SUPPOSED TO BE-
    • “Are you stupid? How could you just break it like that?!”
  • She speaks oddly calmly for someone who was holding back stress and let it all loose at once
  • and it puts MC off
    • “I- it was an accident, Jahee- you’ve, this has happened to you before too,”
  • that just makes things worse
    • “Now it’s my fault?! I didn’t even touch the mug- stop shifting the blame onto me, specially if it was caused by your own clumsiness! Get ou- just, out!”
  • jaehee doesn’t know what she herself means with out
  • she half expects MC to get angry and shut themselves in the bedroom
  • or maybe shut themselves in the bathroom
  • she just needs to be alone and MC is in the kitchen- out, out out!
  • what she didn’t expect was for them to literally go out
  • they rush to the bedroom, and a few minutes later the front door creaks open and
  • they’re gone
  • MC is gone
  • jaehee purses her lips once she realizes this, but she tries to stand strong
  • she was mean, and if MC need time alone too, that’s ok, right?
  • a day passes
  • two days
  • a week
  • MC is clearly alive- sometimes entering the chat to deliver an important message or so, but leaving quickly without even acknowledging her
  • for some reason, she can’t seem to throw herself into her work to avoid thinking- that’s how distressed she is
  • her work becomes slow and sluggish, and she can’t even seem to concentrate on basic tasks
  • it’s hard, but for one time- after so many tries- MC picks up the phone
  • after two weeks, she’s hearing their voice again
  • apologies are flying all over when MC walks in- she’s prepared food, MC’s favourite drink, and she fixed the mug with some superglue she found on the store
  • she can’t even express how much she needs MC, and fully accepts the fault for the situation, while asking MC to maybe… stay….

Zen

  • always a rumor going around about him
  • he knows it can’t be helped, but it bothers him
  • MC says they’re ok! it’s bound to happen!
  • but each time a new fake rumor springs up MC becomes…
  • more distant
  • one day in the couch, Zen feels so alone
  • when was the last time he and MC kissed? or even held hands??
  • why is MC like this?
  • upon asking, MC just seems to feel awkward and shrinks into the couch
    • “I trust you and love you, but… It’s just… Those rumors, they bring up so many evidence, and I… I feel… No, it’s rude to say it, sorry, I’ll… Go to bed now.”
  • is that
  • is MC implying they actually believe he’d cheat?
  • and usually this would prompt to him reassuring MC that he loves them, that he’d never do that
  • but it’s just… those tabloids and news have brought him and his manager so much stress lately, so much problems-
  • and now MC believes them?
  • he feels like he’s been punched in the stomach
    • “Wow, you trust those kinds of people more than me? Your actual boyfriend?”
  • MC turns around at this, and quickly tries to clean up what they said
  • they didn’t mean it like that
  • but seriously, the uncomfortable feeling that built up with each news article seems to lead up to MC spitting out another comment
    • “No, it’s just, I trust you! I… I guess those fishy news outlets and crappy tabloids are just simply amazing at photoshop and can make a photo where you’re kissing someone else that easy, huh?”
  • what the fuck
  • what the fuck
  • his blood is heating up, and he sucks in his breath
  • MC is accusing him of cheating
  • he hasn’t done anything to deserve this
  • to be fair, he did have some beers before, and earlier practice was crappy and his day had been pretty stressful- he did have a fair amount of stress on his shoulders that caused him to snap
    • “Well! With that amount of trust we’ve got here, maybe you’re the one smooching others when you’re out- because you clearly share so much trust, huh?!”
  • MC raises their voice to his level- somewhat shakier- but standing firm
    • “I’m trying so hard to trust you! So, so hard! But we can’t even hold hands in public- I can’t switch from being completely cold with you to being lovey dovey at home- I’m a human! Guess what?! That and those pictures do bother me! It’s actually! Kind of stressful!”
  • that’s his last straw
  • nothing in MC’s words particularly sets him off- maybe it’s the whole thing, maybe it’s nothing
    • “Get out of my sight! If you’re going to be like that, I’d rather be alone in this house!”
  • cue dead silence
  • both of them are clearly regretting their words- maybe not as much as they should, due to the boiling-hot blood pumping through their bodies
  • which probably causes MC to utter “fine” and slam the door as they leave
  • the first two days are hell, but Zen’s pride keeps him from trying to reach MC in the groupchat where they show up sometimes
  • a call they don’t answer, a message left in seen… his efforts to try and be level-headed are failing when it comes to apologizing
  • the second week, he’s desperate
  • he has received the worst critiques in his life about his acting by now- too stiff, out of character, spacing out in the middle of acting
  • and it’s that what prompts MC to go back after Jaehee worriedly begs them too
  • at first, when they unlock the door and go to where he’s sitting on the couch, it’s hard to find words
  • he hugs them out of reflex- god he missed them- and it’s time for MC and Zen to properly apologize before spending an hour on the couch muttering about how lonely and miserable they were without the other

  • The argument is small at first
  • it’s about a little thing, nothing too big, and honestly, he can’t even remember what it was

  • he can’t really tell when the small argument became an actual argument

  • a big sigh cuts him off
  • Jaehee can’t even understand what her boss is saying
  • his words are so fast and filled with panic they become a blur of sound
    • “MC is with me, Mr. Han. They seemed incredibly upset yesterday, and asked if they could stay. I… Have no business in asking you this sir, so I won’t, but if you and MC had a fight, it might be best to let them cool off for a while.”
  • those words feel somewhat like nails being laid on a coffin
  • he tries to communicate with MC to no avail- asking Jaehee to please relay a message to them is the only way to get anything to them, and even then, no reply comes
  • his work becomes a complete mess
  • his handwriting is incomprehensible, he shows up late to work, and his documents are full of errors
  • it’s so bad even Zen feels worried- which is a lot
  • the second the week ends, Jaehee knows this can’t go on and arranges for Jumin to meet MC at her place
  • even though he feels awkward and out of  place in his employee’s house (and probably so does Jaehee), the chance to talk and see MC is a certain yes
  • he brings so many gifts as apologies- anything and everything he saw that reminded him of MC, from clothes to electronics- and it almost is too overwhelming for them
  • apologizing isn’t that hard when he is pouring out words without a filter- a consequence of being away from MC so much and finally seeing them again

  • Work, work, work, work, emotional stress, work, work, becoming cold, work, isolating himself, work, work, more work-
  • if MC had to make a list of what Seven has done the past days, it’d be that
  • completely enveloped in his work, not taking care of himself, letting his mental state fall down to the trash
  • even when trying, MC can’t help-
  • everything they do puts him off and he acts colder
  • it feels like back then, huh…
  • it’s too hard to brush it off
  • Seven’s usually odd but quirky humour wasn’t permanent- MC knew so much, and they loved even the somewhat cold and depression-riddled person Seven became
  • but… even this was a bit too hard
  • it wasn’t just being cold- it was plain rudeness sometimes, to downright ignoring MC
    • “Am I bothering you now…?”
  • MC knew the answer they’d receive- cleaning up the trash around Seven, being in the room; all that probably bothered him in his mood
    • “Yes. Get out.”
  • pressing their lips firmly, they stood up and packed some bags
  • was it petty? … probably.
  • but maybe it was for the best- a couple weeks alone would probably be what Seven wanted, right? and maybe going out and taking their mind off things would be good for them too, no?
  • the first day, Seven has already riddled their phone with calls, begging for an answer
  • he’s regretting it. he’s feeling like shit
  • but MC can’t just return yet- even if they feel bad for Seven, they have feelings to, y’know? they need some time too
  • so turning off the phone, days fly by and the small wounds on MC’s soul heal up
  • but the overwhelming guilt of leaving Seven for so long is unbearable
  • it’s not that it was even planned, but Seven can easily find them, and finally decides to show up to the restaurant where MC was planning on eating that day
  • he looks… better, but also worse
  • he showered and dressed in fresh clothes, and that’s an improvement
  • but the circles under his eyes are darker than ever, and he looks so lost and sad that it hurts
  • it takes all his strenght to not simply hug MC then and there, and cry
  • at first, MC fears they made it worse- now that they left, Seven will be colder than ever, he’ll hate them-
  • but it’s not… that bad
  • he feels like crap, too; for making MC feel so alone like that, and for acting like a stranger- he gladly assumes part of the fault and hopes to keep going on with the relationship

Dear Norman

(an open letter)

I have to congratulate you on your performance in New Best Friends, as it truly was exemplary. Every scene had such perfect nuance and beats. From the frustration and growing rage with Richard, to the thoughtful determination with Morgan, to the heartbreak and restrained emotion with Carol - it was all beautifully performed.

However, in describing the heart-stopping, and heart-breaking moment when Carol opens her door to see Daryl standing there you used the analogy that Daryl’s emotions were like a kid whose mom had left him - and this caused a furor.

Now, I think I get what you were trying to say. It wasn’t about anger, it was about Daryl being vulnerable and emotional. It was about the fact that Carol is Daryl’s home, his rock, his constant. And when she left, she left HIM, and he was devastated and adrift.

To me, that’s totally accurate for how Daryl would feel. It shows that Carol leaving was deeply personal to him, and he felt like he’d lost the most important person in the world to him - like a mom is to a kid.

Normally no one would argue that was a good description that showed you understand the character and their dynamics well. However, the problem is that in media in general - and in the Walking Dead fandom particularly - the word “mom” carries a whole lot of negative baggage with it.

You can’t see a single article, blog or tweet about Daryl and Carol’s relationship without someone commenting and dismissing the connection between these characters by using the “mother and son” descriptor. Carol is Daryl’s surrogate mother; Carol mothers Daryl; it would be gross if they were romantic cos Carol’s like Daryl’s mother. It’s inescapable whenever they are mentioned together.

For women over 40 in the media, being seen as something besides “the mom” is tough. Thankfully, we have Carol. Here we have a woman, with grey hair who IS a mother and yet is still so, so much more than that. Yet for so many in the fandom, there is an INSISTENCE of “reducing” her to just “a mom”.

I say “reducing” in such a way becuase obviously being a Mom is huge and vital, however in our culture there is a prevailing undercurrent that says that being just a mom is somehow lesser. And, most significantly, that being a mom excludes you from being sexy and sexual.

And that’s where the problem in the “mom and kid” analogy comes. It’s not a shipping thing (though obviously it is a part of it). It’s about how damaging it is for a woman aged 51 to be called mom to a man aged 47. The “mom” descriptor is used to desex Carol.

And as a woman over 40, it’s so offensive that a woman a handful of years older than a man can be seen as a mother figure. It’s sexist and ageist beyond belief, because we rarely see it mentioned the other way round.

Despite the fact Andrew is four years older than Danai, I’ve never seen comments that Rick’s like a father to Michonne.

When Daryl and Beth were paired up the media was filled with talk of a potential romance, and you yourself added to that with comments such as there being a hint of romance in the air. But there was VERY little mention by anyone that Daryl was a “father figure” to Beth, despite the fact he was 20 years older than her. At best, they may have speculated he was a big brother to her. Why was there no mention of a paternal type relationship when Daryl was taking on a protective role over her, in the aftermath of the death of her own father?

It’s just not something that happens in media, that a man with a close bond with a slightly younger woman will be seen as her father figure. Yet, when it’s a woman who’s older its rampant.

Of course, some people will explain away the “mom” term as simply being a way to describe the fact that Carol is nurturing - to everyone, but especially to Daryl. But why are only mom’s nurturing, why aren’t men who nurture fatherly? Why isn’t Rick’s role to Daryl “fatherly”? The way Daryl looks to him for approval and the hug they had in Hearts Still beating could have been seen as the “prodigal son”, but that comparison isn’t made.

Sadly, so much of media falls prey to the mother/whore complex, and sadly so many viewers of TWD have put Carol in the “mother” box, where they feel no one should see her as a sexual being. Thankfully, the show is going out of it’s way to diminish that - with Tobin and Ezekiel desperate to win her hand. But it’s not enough.

You have a HUGE power in this fandom, and your words hold so much weight. As a woman over 40 and a huge fan of Carol and Melissa, I LONG for you to speak about Carol the way you’ve spoken about other female characters.

I don’t mean to suggest in any way you’ve spoken negatively about either Melissa or Carol - your adoration for both is evident in everything you say. I just long to be in a place where you are HELPING the world see Carol - and by extension,  all mature women - as a sexual being who is a PEER of Daryl’s, not a “mother figure”.

It’s not about shipping and demanding you say Daryl is sexually attracted to Carol. It’s about YOU as a person giving more power to the stunning actress and beautiful character by making sure the audience knows how YOU see Carol as Daryl’s peer and as a sexy, sexual woman. And giving power to us fans to argue against those who are using the word “mom” to diminish that.

Give us the tools and we’ll defend Carol’s worth to the death, instead of feeling we constantly have to defend YOU.

Please, all I ask is in future, give your words a strong analysis before you use them, so they can’t be used as a tool to beat fans of Carol and Melissa with.

This for @winchester-writes Birthday Drinking Challenge.  I chose Four Roses Bourbon and the prompt: “Can you help me take a shower?” (I played with the wording slightly.

 HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ROSE!

“Happy birthday to me,” you say with a sigh as you sit on the edge of the bed and flip through the shitty basic cable programming on the motel TV.

The knock at the door pulls you out of your pity party. Cautiously, you pull back the curtain. As soon as you see who is at the door, you pull back the deadbolt and throw it wide open.

“DEAN!” You throw yourself into his arms. The elder Winchester laughs as he wraps his arms around you tightly. Pulling back from his embrace, you tilt your head to look up at him. “What are you doing here?”

“Did you think I’d forget your twenty-first birthday?” he says.

God, it’s good to see Dean. Really fucking good. Until you saw, you’d hadn’t realized just how much you’d missed him. You peer around his shoulder, looking expectantly for his brother.

“Sorry, kid. It’s just me,” he says apologetically.

“What? No, I’m so glad you’re here! Come in,” you say, stepping back. Dean steps in, surveying your current digs.

“Are you hunting alone?” Dean asks with concern, you can hear it in his voice.

“I can handle myself,” you retort, automatically falling back into the role of younger kid, Dean was always the oldest. He was the one who told you and Sammy what to do, how to do it, and when to do it. You were the one that argued with him, the defiant one, the one who questioned his orders.

“No, hey,” Dean replies. “I know you can. Let’s not - I’m here to celebrate. Whaddya say we grab some dinner and I buy you your first legal drink?”

“I’d say it’s fitting, since you’re the one who gave me my first illegal drink,” you tease.

Dean laughs. “Oh yeah, that’s right. You still a lightweight?”

“Let’s find out,” you say, throwing him a wink.

How I'd Personally Rewrite all The Characters

Steven is basically his season 1 self: Naive but wise, a sweet boy who’s doing his best to understand all these complex things but sometimes oversimplifies things and fails miserably at his task. He doesn’t get a handle on his powers so quickly and he learns that there’s no shame in asking for help.

Garnet is also her season one self, but instead of being super stone cold, she tries her best to hide her emotions but sometimes breaks down. She’s trying to be everyone’s rock and keep the group together, but she forgets that she has her weaknesses too and sometimes just needs to be comforted. Ruby and Sapphire have better personalities outside of Small Angry™ and Cold Elegant™. Ruby is actually the more empathetic one who is really very sweet, and Sapphire is sweet too but she has trouble understanding how people might feel (as seen in Keystone Motel).

Amethyst is mostly the same, but she has issues outside of being defective. She feels left out among the gems because she wasn’t there for the war, she joined everyone really late and doesn’t know much about being a gem. She misses the bond she could have had with her fellow rebels, and as soon as she meets the Famethyst, she argues that they should take them back to Earth. (Plus her sloppiness is taken down a notch or two– having the fat character be extremely lazy and disorganized while the skinny characters are elegant and pretty is fatphobic)

Bismuth is exactly the same; she’s really well written and I love her. I made a post before about how she’s unbubbled immediately and goes to travel earth for awhile to think about what happened and try to calm down. That’s her story and maybe she gets a spinoff about her adventures.

Pearl is less abusive, more like a mother who tries her best to be a good mom but is often misguided because she doesn’t know what she’s doing and Garnet and Ame usually step in to help. She misses Rose but she has issues outside of her dead pink girlfriend and/or being just a pearl. She has problems with perfectionism and will absolutely push herself to be perfect and not allow herself to mess up. (Give me Pearl with OCD, honestly).

Peridot is a mixture of her pre-redemption self and redemption arc self. She’s brilliant and can be stone cold but is also very easily flustered. She can be very tactless and say things that come off as rude, but it’s not out of maliciousness. She’s curious and speaks her mind often. She has a quick temper but it’s not played for laughs– instead it’s more heartbreaking because she’ll tear up in frustration over not being able to understand. She wants to understand and know things because she wants to be good, but certain concepts are hard for her to grasp.

Lapis is… Well, let’s be real, there’s not much to start with. I’d make her super humorous and silly, but also melodramatic with a persecution complex. She constantly thinks gems are out to get her and takes things very personally. It takes her awhile to learn to trust others, and let go of some unhealthy coping mechanisms. She eventually learns to let loose and especially bonds with Amethyst over their shared sense of humor.

Jasper’s personality would be the same as her canon self, but her story would be different. Instead of Lapis dragging her to the ocean and her being tortured, she tells Lapis that the crystal gems are probably just going to bubble them both and that they’ll never be free. That they can only do this together. Lapis believes her, they fuse, but instead of fighting them, Lapis takes control and they fly away. Both dislike each other, but are too afraid of being hurt to unfuse. It’s a toxic relationship but not really an abusive one (they’re not the same thing. You need a power imbalance for there to be an abuser, and there can only be one abuser in a relationship). Jasper and Lapis both feel like they’re stronger together, and despite not getting along, they both make the decision to fight the crystal gems. During the Malachite arc, there’s a fight with Alexandrite and it’s a stalemate, and Steven actually convinces Lapis to unfuse, reaching her through Malachite. Lapis unfuses with Jasper and Jasper runs off. Her arc mostly plays out the same way, but Steven fights to heal her during the corruption scene. She gives up on fighting them, but doesn’t join them either and instead occasionally shows up to help with a monster or something, sort of being an anti-hero. She’s good at calming the corruptions down and knows how to reach out to them since she worked with them in her army. Maybe she and Bismuth even meet up for an episode and work together to help some monsters.

The Ruby squad doesn’t change much, but instead of rotting in space they show up as Team Rocket-esque villains who torment the Crystal Gems with a kinda, punch first, ask questions later personality. The CGs have no idea what they want until they reveal they’re looking for Jasper and when they’re told that the CGs don’t know, they give up and search for Jasper on their own. They get some cute episodes about their quests.

Yellow and Blue diamond aren’t really leaders– they’re just puppets for white diamond. Blue is devastated after the rebellion and the loss of Pink, and thinks that they need to go against White (who is kind of their abusive mom). Blue is also less pissy with Ruby and Sapphire– they’re brought in front of WD and she demands the shattering. Yellow is more terrified of what would happen if they went against WD and “what’s the use in feeling blue” is more about convincing her to stop her insubordination. WD hates PD and sees her as a failure, so she wants evidence that she existed to be eradicated.

Idk just thoughts

When you woke up, you felt oddly warm. A sense of safety flushed through you and you couldn’t quite figure out why. There was a body next to yours, and as you blinked in the brightness of the sun that surrounded the cave and blinked away the blurriness, you began to try and move only to find you couldn’t.

Strong arms wrapped around your waist, tight and protective to the point you couldn’t move. You furrowed your brows, still slightly asleep as you tried to pin who exactly was with you. You hadn’t had anyone on ground and you definitely wouldn’t sleep with someone on a… one.. night stand.

“You wouldn’t be just a one night stand.”

Bellamy’s words echoed through, the memories of last night flashing through as you became wide awake. You snapped up, forcefully ripping Bellamy’s arms of from around you. You heard him moan in shock as he too woke up. Shy and bashful, you hugged yourself as Bellamy groaned awake and sat up next to you.

What would you say? Everything that had happened last night was something you’d never expected. And despite how hard you tried to push down the secret feelings you’d developed for the boy, they were there and they only increased after the events of last night. But there was no way Bellamy would like you back, which was why you’d never acted on those feelings.

“You wouldn’t be just a one night stand.”

Or would he?

“Uh, good morning.”  Bellamy’s deep voice echoed around you and you felt your muscles tense. Was he going to act like none of this had ever happened? But, maybe that would be best. You didn’t think you’d be able to confront him or your feelings, so maybe acting as if none of it happened would be okay.

Standing up, you murmured a good morning. Ignoring the feel of his eyes lingering on you as you walked to the opening of the cave and stepped out. You let your eyes wander over the sunshine that no shun brightly and the warmth you could now bask in. Turning back into the cave you quickly began packing up your things. “The fogs gone, we should head back to camp. People are probably starting to worry.”

Bellamy said nothing but let his gaze linger on you a moment longer, before he too began to pack up. The walk back to camp was silent, and long. Even after an hour, which felt like you should’ve reached camp by now, you were still an hours walk away. And the silence was agonizingly painful as well as awkward. It almost felt as if you were alone, because of the dead silence, if you could miss the awkward stares and bumps of the shoulders.

Eventually, a short half n hour later (so they were only a half n hour away) you’d gotten tired of walking and leaned against a tree. Huffing in tiredness, and rubbing your feet in pain. Normally you wouldn’t be so whiny, but you hadn’t had to walk this long in a long time, seeing as before this you’d never been allowed out of camp.

You heard a huff of annoyance from behind you, but you chose to ignore it. Figuring Bellamy had been just as tired as you, and was annoyed by it. But you were hugely mistaken, when he began speaking. “Really, Y/N?” He snapped.

With narrowed eyes, you looked over at him shaking your head. “Really what?”

“You need to stop right now. We are almost back to camp and the sooner the better.”

Your jaw opened in bafflement and with a huff, you let your foot fall and you slipped back on your shoe. You turned to him, crossing your arms over your chest as you glared at him. “Yeah, I did need to stop. I wasn’t the one who asked you to come on this damn mission, that had been an absolute fail by the way. And i’m tired, and i’m sick of being near you.” Suddenly, all your pent up feelings came pouring out at his complete ignorance to your side of things. You tried to tell yourself to remain calm, and reason things out, but your irrational side got the better of you.

“You should know by now that I take whatever lead I get and that when we go out, we do what needs to be done and get back. There isn’t time for resting!” He practically yelled.

“No, actually, I wouldn’t know.” You reprimanded. “I wouldn’t because ever since we landed down here, you haven’t let me step one foot out of that camp. God knows why.”

He stayed silent for a while, both of you wondering what had started this fight and why it’d become so tense. It was a stupid thing to argue over, and the both of you knew, but for some reason every angry thought came to your mind, whether it had to do with Bellamy or not, and you couldn’t control yourself.

“Sorry for caring.” Bellamy spat.

Your eyes widened and you let out a dry laugh, “care? Since we landed you’ve been treating me as if i’m an annoyance. Why care about a pestering princess right?”

“You are an annoyance!” He yelled, despite himself. And with shock, you took a step back. Not quite expecting such harsh words to come out of his mouth, you opened your mouth to say something but came out empty. You picked up your backpack, not quite sure what to do. “Wait, Y/N…” Bellamy tried but you interrupted him.

“No, uh, it’s okay.” You whispered, staring at the ground. “I get it. I don’t know why I ever thought that… we… no, sorry.” You let the words slip out before you ran off. Your feet carrying you faster than you ever thought they could, and before you knew it you’d ran so far that you didn’t know where you were. You’d never been in these woods before and without a tracker, you found yourself lost. The world spun around you as you tried to figure out where you were.

“Hey!”

Bellamy huffed, after walking around searching for you, and not able to find you, he figured you’d gone back home. He was worried and regretted all the words he said, because in the moment he hadn’t meant any of it. He’d just been frustrated that the two of you hadn’t discussed what had happened the night before.

You’d been ignoring his advances and gazes, he’d become frustrated with you to the point he became irrational.

Letting out a deep breath, he signalled to be let in and walked through. His eyes already searching for you, and expecting to see you walk up to him with a stomp to your step. Only you never came, and instead in your place Clarke came up. Seemingly relieved to see Bellamy standing there.

Her eyes searched around him, and he blinked in confusion. “Bellamy! I’m so glad you’re okay!” She said once she reached him, smiling up him. Bellamy smiled at her shortly, his eyes going past her for you. His heart began to race when you never showed up.

“Where’s Y/N?” Immediately, Bellamy snapped his eyes down to Clarke. His heart picking up in fear as he stared baffled down at Clarke.

“What do you mean where is she? She’s not here?” Bellamy asked in a panicked rush.

Clarke furrowed her brows, shaking her head. “No, the last time she was here was when she left with you yesterday.” She explained, her face contorting in concern. “What happened Bellamy? Where is Y/N?”

At the frantic mention of your name, a crowd of your friends had gathered. All staring at Bellamy expectantly as he stared at the ground in pure fear. How could he had been so stupid? Letting you go over a stupid fight like that.

“Bellamy, where’s Y/N?” Jasper piped up, coming to stand next to Bellamy.

“We were out, but then I got in such a stupid fight with her.” He said, his voice deep as he blamed himself. “She ran off, and I searched for her but I figured she’d headed off back here.”

Clarke’s eyes widened with realization. “Bellamy she’s never been out of-”

“Out of camp before.” He finished, nodding. “I know.” Nodding to himself, he grabbed his gun and began marching towards the gates.

“Where are you going?” Clarke yelled.

“Going to find her.”

Lottie!!! Do you have any feelings about the accents of various Harry Potter characters?? I would love to hear about it bc I for one am very passionate about Sirius Black occasionally sounding EXTREMELY posh and feeling a bit embarrassed about it

I… have… SO MANY FEELINGS ABOUT THE ACCENTS OF VARIOUS HARRY POTTER CHARACTERS!!!!!!!!!!

and by ‘the accents of various Harry Potter characters’ I mean the LACK THEREOF and the Overwhelming amount of Posh Wankers in this series. I MEAN. it winds me up MASSIVELY, and it also opens a can of wooorrrmmmss re: the wizarding population around the British Isles. like… We Need To Talk About Wales. caveat: this is all coming from a Northerner, so as far as I’m concerned the Midlands are in the South, but I’m going to try to be geographical instead of Northern about this.

SO, for those who can’t tell the difference between various UK accents/didn’t realise there were accents in England other than The Benedict Cumberbatch (which, if you’re going from these movies, is understandable), let me break down the film accents for you: McGonagall, Cho Chang and Oliver Wood are Scottish, Seamus Finnegan, Mad-Eye Moody and Luna Lovegood are Irish (Evanna Lynch is from the border region so her accent sounds slightly Northern Irish), Neville Longbottom has a Yorkshire accent (Yorkshire is a county in the North of England), Hagrid is from the West Country (which, despite how it sounds, is The South), and literally every other character sounds like they grew up below the Watford Gap. discounting the ones I’ve just mentioned, everyone else is Generic Southern or straight up Good Old Boy RP (Received Pronunciation, which is like standard BBC English that you hear on the telly/out of the gob of pretty much every HP character).

(I mean, in fairness, this wasn’t really a Movie decision. in the books the Midlands and the North are just places the Hogwarts Express has to pass through to get to Scotland. Harry is from Surrey, the Weasleys are from Devon, it never really says where Hermione’s from but judging by how her dialogue reads I’m guessing it’s The South, Sirius grew up walking distance from King’s Cross, Godric’s Hollow is in the West Country somewhere, Malfoy Manor is in Wiltshire, and even though the footy team you support doesn’t always indicate where you’re from we’ll ignore that in this case and say that Dean Thomas is from Stratford, East London. and those are just the characters I can remember off the top of my head. that’s a lot of southerners. like, Pureblood wizards seem to be mostly very old aristocracy (I remember reading that the Malfoys came over from France with William the Conquerer in 1066), so you could argue that, like, they all had wizard babies in/around the capital and they’re slowly but surely spreading outwards hence the CLUMP of southern wizards (not to mention they tend to stick together in communities like Ottery St Catchpole and Godric’s Hollow) but a) that is a stupid, reaching theory and I seriously doubt it, and b) even if it WAS true, MUGGLEBORNS EXIST! why aren’t there wizards popping up in, like, Liverpool or Salford or Birmingham? why is EVERYONE so goddamn WELL-SPOKEN???)

I do think about the accents thing a lot. and I get mad about the movies a lot. I mean, Hagrid’s accent reads as Yorkshire. he says ‘summat’! he’s the most Yorkshire thing ever!! and Dean has a Generic Nice Southern accent, not an East London accent! he should sound like Alfie bloody Moon!!! also, considering Godric’s Hollow is in the West Country, DUMBLEDORE SHOULD HAVE HAGRID’S ACCENT!!!!! I JUST DIE OVER THE TERRIBLE ACCENT CHOICES FOR THESE FILMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY WOULD YOU LET MICHAEL ‘I DON’T NEED TO READ THE BOOKS’ GAMBON DO A WEIRD DRUNKEN IRISH LILT WHEN HE COULD HAVE BEEN HAGRIDDING EVERYWHERE!!!!!! (also if Voldemort hadn’t ruined everything and Harry had been raised in Godric’s Hollow he would also have a Hagrid-ish accent. amazing.) AND, according to the HP wiki, Little Hangleton is in the North somewhere, which means Gaunt cottage is in the North somewhere, which means VOLDEMORT IS NORTHERN. LOL. take a moment for that one. let it sink in. Voldemort is my past, present and fookin’ future, innit.

BUT YEAH. ANYWAY.

so if we’re going by the books there’s literally one Scottish person and one Irish person that we know of at Hogwarts (AND one of them is a teacher, AND I don’t think either of them were ever SPECIFICALLY said to have a Scottish/Irish accent). which begs the question: where the fuck is everyone who isn’t middle class English going to school??? what the hell is going on here???? as far as we know there is one (1) Irish student and this school and no (0) Scottish students. which… is wild. especially because the entire Irish quidditch team must have passed through the hallowed halls of Hogwarts in the preceding 10 years, but suddenly: a dearth. AND THERE’S NO WELSH STUDENTS! WHERE ARE THE WELSH? obviously the Holyhead Harpies are a Welsh team, and the common Welsh Green is a Welsh dragon, and Dai Llewellyn who had a ward in St Mungo’s named after him sounds Welsh, and I’m pretty sure Helga Hufflepuff was from Wales*, SO WHERE ARE THEIR SPROGS AT?

*IIRC aren’t the four founders all from different countries? I’m sure it’s at least implied by the Sorting Hat at one point. like ‘Gryffindor from wild moor’** = Dartmoor, I assume, as Godric’s Hollow is in the West Country = England, Ravenclaw’s from ‘glen’ = Scotland, I’m sure there are glens in other places but SCOTLAND, Hufflepuff is something something valley? again, valleys are everywhere, but whenever someone says ‘valley’ my brain immediately puts on a Daffyd Thomas voice and goes ‘IN THE VALLEEEEYYYSS’ which it certainly doesn’t do for any other country, so = Wales, and SLYTHERIN = FEN = Ireland has a shitload of bogs and fens and stuff. plus Slytherin is green, Ireland is the Emerald Isle, I’m just REALLY GLAD SLYTHERIN’S IRISH HAHA ÉIRE GO BRÁCH LOSERS

**FOR THE RECORD the HP wiki told me Godric’s Hollow is in the West Country, and that seems very likely as the North of England doesn’t seem to exist in the HP canon, HOWEVER I PERSONALLY choose to believe that the ‘wild moor’ is in fact THE YORKSHIRE MOORS and that Godric Gryffindor, like Tom Marvolo Riddle, is a top lad innit mate.

but back to The Absent Welsh: I like to think that maybe they’ve set up their own school. it’s a weekly boarding. everyone speaks Cymraeg. all the Irish and Scottish students go there too because they fucking hate the English. it would certainly explain the lack of Scottish, Irish and Welsh students at Hogwarts. they’re all just getting on with it in Wales somewhere. probably Anglesey. or maybe there are actually wizarding schools that are just normal day schools and Hogwarts is just the famous one because it’s a big, old, prestigious boarding school. considering Harry apparently had his name down since birth… MAYBE HOGWARTS IS THE ETON COLLEGE OF MAGIC! THIS IS MAKING SO MUCH SENSE!!! all the middle class English lot are like ‘oh darling, you simply must go to the Eton College of magic!!’ meanwhile muggleborn Gary ‘Gazza’ Bloggs from the Wirral is like ‘nah mate I’ll just go t’ t’ local like.’

(SPEAKING OF ETON COLLEGE, Justin Finch-Fletchley had his name down for it, which is aaaaabsolutely hilarious. Eton is an independent all-boys boarding school which costs roughly £37,000 ($48,000) per academic year. if Justin hadn’t been a surprise wizard he probably would have gone to Eton, gone to Oxford, joined an elite drinking club, burned money in front of homeless people, rattled a dead pig and then become Prime Minister. but instead of doing all of that he has to go to a PUBLIC SCHOOL with negligible rules, very little uniform, girls, AND he can’t even tell any of his posh little mates about it when he goes home to MUMMY for the VAC. to top it all off he’s gone from being a Good Old Boy Top Shelf Jolly Hockey Sticks Young Chap on the path to upper class glory and the Houses of Parliament to being a MUGGLEBORN HUFFLEPUFF i.e. the bottom of the Wizarding world/Hogwarts food chain. but never mind, eh, he seems pleased enough. bet he has a CORKING accent, what!)

even though my Average Joe Wizard High School idea is definitely not true, I definitely 100% feel like Ireland should have its own wizarding school. the Republic of Ireland’s relationship with The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is so long and arduous that even I, who has an Irish mother, can’t keep it all straight in my head, but basically Ireland is not part of ~the UK~ or ~Great Britain~ even though it is part of the British Isles, so they really need their own school. (tbh I’m low key offending myself by talking about this like they Should have their own school rather than They Have Their Own School, Obviously, but… whatever.) THEY ALSO SHOULD HAVE THEIR OWN MINISTRY OF MAGIC! they might have! we just don’t know! why didn’t Harry make better friends with Seamus!!! UNLESS, of course, wizards don’t trifle themselves with Muggle Affairs and didn’t get involved with the Irish revolution and the Troubles etc. (although considering how the Order of the Phoenix being founded/the war really kicking into high gear coincided with the Winter of Discontent/widespread right wing sympathy across the UK… I doubt it), and so Irish wizards are still being governed from ~Westminster. but again, if that’s the case, WHY ARE NONE OF ‘EM GOIN’ HOGWARTS??????? WHY IS SEAMUS FINNEGAN THE LONE IRISH DIASPORA AT WIZARD SCHOOL????

I… literally cannot believe how Away from me this has Gotten.

accents. okay.

yes, Sirius Black accidentally being EXTREMELY POSH is something I am very passionate about also. he tries to mask it by being all rebellious and Landaaaannn about everything but fails miserably because every so often he’ll say ‘one’, and when he’s tired or excited he’s just like… the Queen on steds. arrived at Hogwarts fluent in French and passable in Latin. knows how to use so many forks. a prank goes right and he’s like ‘YESSSS TOP SHELF, BOYS! ABSOLUTELY BANG ON!’ James is also posh but posh in the rich, big old farmhouse, Barbour jackets and Hunter wellies way, so he gets away with it because he’s never been to a cotillion and doesn’t sometimes slip and say ‘spiffing’. meanwhile Remus is from the Midlands in my heart (maybe Shropshire)*** and is just very normal and not at all impressed by these posh knobs he has to share a bedroom with. Peter is probably from somewhere with an accent that grates on you after a while, like Birmingham. (no offence @Brummies.) according to the HP wiki (it’s teaching me SO MUCH but literally where tf are they getting this info) Snape is from the Midlands, which means that surely Lily is from the Midlands, because they met when they were playing out as kids!!! this Excites Me! also imagining Snape with a Wolverhampton accent is just… exquisite.

***I know a lot of people are All About Scottish Remus and while that is second in my heart to Midlands Remus it is certainly In My Heart.

I love and support Neville Longbottom having a Yorkshire accent because I, too, have a Yorkshire accent, and his in the films means SO MUCH TO ME!! he’s OUR BOY!!! GO ON, LADDDD!!!!!! etc. I really want Lee Jordan to have a Limmy-esque Glaswegian accent, because IMAGINE him doing the quidditch commentary and just getting more and more incomprehensibly Scottish, and McGonagall keeps yelling at him because she can actually understand what he’s saying whereas everyone else can just manage to catch ‘Slytherin’ and ‘cheating’ and ‘10 points’ so they’re just like ‘???!!!!! ! !! ? !!’ also I’m a big fan of Bristolian Lavender Brown, for no other reason than I just thought of her greeting Ron by saying ALRIGHT MY LUVVER and nearly died.

in conclusion, you could say that I do indeed have feelings about the accents of various Harry Potter characters and I hope you weren’t lying when you said you’d love to hear about it.

Armin Reiss

This theory could easily be wrong of course, it’s called a THEORY for a reason, but it’s fun to write about these things. This one is about the famous theory that Armin is royalty, that he is Armin Reiss(or Fritz). No, this is not based on the fact that him and Historia look alike, this goes much deeper.

Let’s begin with the very start, before Armin was even born. Who were his parents? We know nothing about them, but what’s strange is that we know everybody’s parents except for his. We’ve seen the parents of jean, connie, eren, mikasa, levi, erwin, annie, Sasha, historia, grisha and so on, which makes it weird that Armin has been left out since he is a main character. But we do know his grandfather well and I found something interesting about them, please look at Armin and the grandfather well and tell me what they have in common… Go Google them and then come back to this… Take your time, look at them well. Got an idea? Cuz I don’t. They look nothing alike! Armin is blonde and has blue eyes and the grandfather has brown eyes and hair. This might just be a genetic thing, but from a writer’s point of view, it could mean something. But the grandfather himself is very odd. We know that he was the one who named Armin and was with him until the very end and even gave him the outside world book, but I’ll back to that later. All this made me realize that Armin was closer to him than he was with his parents. To be honest, I think they didn’t care for him at all. He was constantly bullied but they did nothing at all, they left him behind, they even allowed him to go out with the book that could get him in trouble and even Armin spoke about them harshly, saying “You’ll die in a stupid way like my mom and dad,” Which is not a good way to speak about the dead! Especially about your parents! You may argue that his parents died differently in the manga, but don’t forget that every change done in the anime was by isayama himself, so that can’t be used as an argument. So about the book, where did it come from? Shiganshina is the poorest place in the walls, so how could they get their hands on the book about the outside world? Remember who else had books about the outside world? Grisha, and where was he from? Far from the walls. That’s a hint, but a little one. Speaking of, Grisha was told by Dina (royal blood) that her kind is hiding somewhere, that royal blooded people are lost, so maybe we could use that info too to explain why Armin’s parents ended up there. (ps: those couple in ch55 aren’t his parents, because there were no confirmations). Where would his parents go? I’m sure hey knew that the world outside was full of titans! Were they idiots? Leaving their son to die? Maybe they’re alive, or dead as we were told. Not sure. They left before the attack, did they run? But why the hell would they ever encourage their kid to want to leave the walls where hell is waiting? I wish I knew. About the similarities between Historia and Armin are many, besides their looks, the main one being childhood. Other kids beat them up daily, their parents abandoned them and yes, they look alike, so alike that Armin once even was mistaken for her and kidnapped, remember that? I do! That scene couldn’t be there for no reason! Every scene in aot is a hint to the future events (or isayama just wanted to draw armin in drag lol)

Another argument I hear often is “But Historia makes Eren remember things when she touches him,” And yes, that is true, and so does Armin. It’s very silent, but once you notice, you’ll understand why I’m taking this so seriously. First, we know that if they make skin contact, Eren remembers things, so let’s begin with episode 5, where Eren grabs Armin’s wrist to save him. Eren remembered nothing there, why? Because when he grabbed Armin’s arm, he grabbed his sleeve. It’s a tiny detail that could be missed, but they didn’t touch skin. Next ep where they did was the ending of ep 8, where Armin holds Eren’s hand. How does the next ep start? Eren remembering being inside the titan which he forgets when Armin lets go. Next is ep 13. People ignore the fact that Armin woke up Eren! He entered in consciousness and woke him up, which only a Reiss could do. Then in the manga when they once again hold hands, the panel is drawn as if their hands are glowing (he didn’t remember anything cuz right before Historia already helped him remember his past), crazy right? It all fits, or I’m just overthinking. How come nobody ever talks about the fact that Armin freaking heard his titan talk in ch 85?? That has never happened before and we’ve seen every other shifter talking about how their titans work, but this has not once happened!!! That scene creeped me out! The titan cried too! Some said that it might be Bertholdt, but even if that’s true, we’ve never seen Eren talking to Grisha(the previous owner)!! It’s like something only royal blood can do, because nobody else did it in the entire story. And don’t forget that the Owl said to find Armin and Mikasa! so there’s something more the world needs from him, because rn the war/attack is starting (maeley vs eldians) and it’ll be a bloodbath. Armin rn is the colossal titan! Imagine if he’s royalty too. They could win the war. But why am I fighting so hard for this theory? Because of what isayama said about ch 89,  This is so important!

See how in ch 89 he corrected his writing from “eating royal blood,” to “Touching the royal titan” and right after that scene, the panel shows Armin looking at Eren zoomed in. (so to activate the coordinate, eren must touch a royal titan, not a human) I wonder who that titan could be that eren could use for the coordinate… Nothing can save the main characters rn, except maybe this. IF Armin ends up actually being royalty, then it means that they can use titans to fight against the Marley and actually survive and even win. Armin could save them all, because nothing else can. This is the only hope I have left to see my characters win against the world, because them alone is not enough for the war they’re in. and don’t forget that the story is ending, we’re reading the finale arc, so something like this could bring the story to the big climax, the main one being ”freeing the wall titans” as armin said would one day happen. That WILL happen and this theory is how I think it’ll be. Armin and eren working as one. We know zeke wouldn’t be the one to do it because the marley are afraid of the walls being broken down and the titans escaping, and can zeke even control the titans? Probably. But so can eren, but not without the help of a royal titan. These hints were dropped for a reason. Look at how his titan looks just like the other reiss titan we’ve seen. Isayama never had unnecessary details in his story. All we can do is wait and see what will happen next.

anonymous asked:

What proof do we have that Eris is abusive, other than that characters have said he is? Most held a similar opinion of Rhys, what's the difference? That we have a first person narrator who is privy to the backstory of one but not the other? I'm not trying to be aggressive but I want to know your thoughts. I thought showing was more important than telling in storytelling.

Okay then, like, what ‘proof’ have we got for literally 90% of the things in this series???? Feyre is a 19 year old human girl in a world full of immortal fae. You want an eye witness account for everything in this thing, do you?

How do I know the war happened the way they said it did? Feyre never saw it, she’s only had characters tell her about it. How do I know Rhys actually hated what he did with Amarantha and didn’t just swap sides right at the end? How do I know Rhys’ dad sucked but his mother was a good person, I’ve only heard him tell me about her, I’ve seen it. How do I know Tamlin’s brothers were awful? Never seen them either. How do I know Beron is really that awful either, I mean maybe he’s wearing a mask too and all the characters are just wrong. How do I know Mor is queer? I’ve never seen her with a girl before, I just have her word for it, maybe she lied. How do I know literally anything in this entire series because WE GET TOLD MOST THINGS NOT SHOWN THEM.

This is what happens when you have a limited first person pov. The character HAS to get told things in order to tell us things like ???? A little bit of common sense please, do you want me to like, historically fact check Prythian for everything that Feyre tells us about it???

And tbh SJM has a pretty crappy habit of doing the whole ‘telling over showing’ thing anyway. See: the entirety of the Throne of Glass series, Mor’s powers in ACOTAR (she’s awesome, really, we promise, we just haven’t actually SEEN her do anything), the assertions that Rhys and co are ~the most powerful ever~ have I actually SEEN that? Can I actually see that? No.  Do I really question these things? No. Because I understand that this is the only way I can actually get some information out of this story and if I only went with what I ‘saw’ and disbelieved everything else I’d have literally nothing??

And when it comes to the whole Eris thing, like, dude, it’s not just a couple of characters who’ve said he’s abysmal it’s like, wait let me make a list:

Tamlin: “His father had her put down. Executed, in front of Lucien, as his two eldest brothers held him and made him watch.” That would be Eris. So at best you’ve got conflicting statements here.

Lucien: “Lucien crossed his arms, leaning against the back of the couch. “I have to agree with Cassian. Eris is a snake.M, yes, Eris, HIS OWN BROTHER. If anyone was going to know Eris was ~not a bad person~ it’d be Lucien. Lucien who lived in that court. Who knew him. Who Eris apparently cared enough to protect/save, according to him. Eris who apparently cares so much about his mother (as we have seen Lucien does SEEN that is SEEN with our own two eyes) Why the hell would Lucien not know Eris was ‘wearing a mask’. Or maybe…Eris really does suck.

Rhys: “Eris refused to marry her. Said she’d been sullied by a bastard-born lesser faerie, and he’d now sooner fuck a sow. […]Rhys said with soft wrath, “Eris left her for dead in the middle of their woods.” Idgaf how he tries to spin it later, this is what happened.

Cassian: “You’re working with that prick,” Cassian cut in, whatever catching-up now over, apparently. He moved to Mor’s side, a hand on her back. He shook his head at Azriel and Rhys, disgust curling his lip. “You should have spiked Eris’s fucking head to the front gates.”

Amren: “Your whole family is despicable,” Amren said to Lucien.

Mor: At Mor, whose face went white with dread. […]Or at Eris, heir to the Autumn Court, as he strolled into the room.

[…]

And I had the terrible sense that Mor had gone somewhere far, far away as Eris set down his goblet and said, “You look well, Mor.”

The sight of him triggers actual real panic attacks and flashbacks that we can literally see from Feyre’s POV. Five hundred years after the fact and Mor is still traumatised enough by what he did to her to react like this even after all that time.

Then we have Feyre’s POV herself. Through her we’ve seen Eris laughing alongside his other brothers as Lucien was tortured and nearly killed.

“I don’t suppose your handsome brothers know, Lucien,” she purred.

“If we did, Lady, we would be the first to tell you,” said the tallest. He was lean, well dressed, every inch of him a court-trained bastard. Probably the eldest, given the way even the ones who looked like born warriors stared at him with deference and calculation—and fear.

Ah, yes, that would be Eris actively promising help to Amarantha in order to damn Feyre and continue her reign. Then there’s the way Eris hunts down Lucien and Feyre in the Winter Court, actively harms them both. So that’s like…Basically every single main character in this book who’s told you Eris sucks.

What’s the basis for believing that he doesn’t, out of interest? I mean what ‘evidence’ do you have that he is actually wearing a mask, what do you have that’s so strong it goes against the testimony of multiple characters? Oh I know! You have Eris’ word for it and that’s it. Wow. So unbiased. So convincing. Eris tells us he’s not really a bad guy and that outweighs the half a dozen people who tells us he is! That’s just. Damn. What logic. Can’t argue with that.

Also, like, I’m sorry, but Rhys’ arc was done properly, Rhys’ redemption wasn’t a retcon it was a followed-through on plan. There were hints UtM that Rhys was not as black as he was painted (He killed the Summer Court faerie outright rather than leaving him to suffer, he repeatedly came to visit Feyre in her cell when no-one else would, he was honest with Feyre about the treatment he received at Amarantha’s hands (a vulnerability on his part), he told her why he was making her dance every night as well as the steps he put in place to protect her, he sent music to her and saved her life, he saved her life and Tamlin’s with the kiss (which Feyre is aware of), he tried to save Feyre’s life while Amarantha was torturing her)

Rhys was a complex, morally grey character UtM and it’s possible to show a different side to him and a ‘mask’ because there were always hints of him wearing one. What if Ianthe told Feyre she was actually a secret agent working for Prythian but she was forced to act the way she did to keep her cover? What if Amarantha said she’d only dominated Prythian that way to save it from something worse and she too was wearing a mask and working for the greater good? What if Hybern said there was a bigger threat facing them and he had an ulterior motive to this war (and also, I mean, how do you really know Hybern is that awful, we’ve only ever had people tell us about him, maybe he’s misunderstood too!!!!)  @valamerys wrote this out far better than I could in this post, read it too.

My thoughts are pretty simple, tbh: SJM decided to “”””””redeem”””””” Eris, likely to have him set-up to take over Autumn, now Lucien isn’t an option for that before what with the whole dramatic lost son of Day thing and she did a crap job of it. Like this isn’t some grand morality based character debate that’s going on here, SJM just handled this poorly. In order to make him seem not so bad she had to undo all of the canon that she’d set in place before hand and offer ‘alternative’ explanations for what happened that we’ve never heard about.

If she planned this all beforehand, if Eris was always wearing a mask why weren’t there hints of it before? Why didn’t she have Tamlin tell Feyre he got an anonymous tip-off the day he saved Lucien’s life from his brothers (which is what Eris claimed). Why wouldn’t Lucien defend him a little, say at least he cared about their mother/was sometimes kinder to him than the others? Why wouldn’t Rhys say that in the arranged marriage that petrified Mor, Eris was as unwilling as she was, that he argued against it? (Eris would have gone through with this marriage regardless of what it did to Mor if she hadn’t slept with Cassian) Why wouldn’t Eris stay quiet UtM or not show up to watch Lucien’s torture (which he does repeatedly)? Why, why, why, why, why would SJM not do something to show us that there might be more to Eris? Unless this was just a sloppy, last minute retcon to redeem a gross, abusive character who still to do this day petrifies his victim?

Like, if you consider showing to be of more importance than telling in stories….You’ve picked a mighty weird hill to die on here with Eris. Because this is literally the worst example of telling not showing in this entire series. There is no basis for anything that happens with Eris’ character in ACOWAR and the only thing we have stacked against the evidence of two and a half books is what Eris says and how he personally spins the story like ????

Idk dude, we can have a convoluted, let’s bend over backwards to redeem this guy and show he was misunderstood and has been wearing a mask so convincing it’s never ever ever cracked even once this entire time, to anyone! Even people who’ve known him for centuries….Or we go with the simpler: SJM really didn’t plan or execute this story very well at all. Which seems more reasonable?

Warnings: fluff, Y/N and Jughead are out of high school my dudes so it’s cute

A/N: I really liked this request, someone requested I do one where they are out of high school. I’m pretty sure they wanted them to have kids and such but hey, what’s the rush. I made them right out of high school and I think it’s adorable

Light poured into the room through the curtains and shined on the bed, illuminating Jughead and Y/Ns faces. Jughead groaned, tightening his hold on Y/Ns waist, pulling her closer to him. She slowly opened her eyes, stretching slightly and looked around for her phone to check the time. When it was no where to be found, she relaxed back into the bed. Judging by the orangey tones of light lighting up the room, she assumed it must have been early in the morning.

“Juggie?” Y/Ns voice softly sang, trying to wake the raven haired boy next to her. He took his hand that was wrapped around her waist and slowly started running his fingers through her hair.

“Are you trying to put me back to sleep?” Y/N giggled, and Jughead opened one eye, a small smirk taking shape on his face.

“Depends, is it working?” he asked, his voice low and raspy. Y/N rolled her eyes and cupped his cheek.

“Nope. Sorry Jones.” she teased, and his eyes fluttered shut once more. His hand flew from her hair back to her waist and he pulled her into him once again.

“Well you should go back to sleep.” he mumbled, sleep slowly taking him away from the conscious world once again. “Or at least lay in bed with me.”

“We have things we have to do today, there’s no time to just lay in bed.” she murmured, doing her best not to let sleep take her too. Between the cozy white sheets that were drowning her and Jughead, the lack of sleep she had gotten that night, and the warmth and closeness of Jugheads body that she adored so much, she almost fell asleep right then and there, but the responsibilities of that day were nagging her.

“Come on Juggie, let’s get up.” she said, sitting up and throwing the covers off them. Jughead grabbed hold of her arm and pulled her down onto the mattress again, she bounced against it with a laugh. Before she could get up and escape, he quickly climbed on top of her, and laid on her.

“Juggie! Get off of me!” she laughed, trying her best to move him.

“Not until you agree to lay in bed with me…” he said, and she sighed.

“We can’t though, trust me I wish we could.” she whispered, drawing lazy circles on his back. “But you’ve got your interview for your new novel today-”

“I can do it another time.” Jughead interrupted, dead set on laying in bed with Y/N for the rest of the day.

“No you can’t.” she chuckled. “You’re a big time writer now, you’ve got to get used to these interviews and such. We aren’t in high school anymore, our days of laying in bed, watching old movies all day every day are behind us.”

“We graduated a few months ago, I don’t think we have to jump right into adulthood.” he teasingly argued, lifting his head to look at Y/N.

“Oh I definitely agree, one hundred percent.” she giggled, nodding her head. “I don’t think I’ll ever be ready to fully jump into adulthood, all I’m saying is that we’ve got some responsibilities to take care of today, and then after wards we can lay in bed and watch movies all we want.” she smiled up at the messy haired boy beaming down at her, and he rolled his eyes and kissed her.

“Fine. Will you be coming to my interview?” he asked. “I mean you are a very important character in my novel, being the narrators love interest and all.” he said, leaning his forehead against hers.

“Id love to, but-” she was cut off by a kiss, and when Jughead pulled away, she was met with pleading eyes.

“No buts, please come watch. I’d feel a lot better if you’d come, I mean you helped me through all of this. You were the only one who totally believed in me.” he begged, and Y/N sighed.

“I’ll have to call Betty and Veronica and ask if I can switch our brunch plans to just normal lunch plans.” she said, and Jugheads face lit up.

“Anyways won’t it be fun to see your man brag about how he solved the Jason Blossom murder case and wrote a book all at the same time.” he whispered in her ear, earning a giggle from Y/N.

“Oh definitely, and then I can swoop in and tell them that all the actual solving of the case was done by me.” she joked, grabbing his face and pulling him down for another kiss.

“So not true though,” he said in between kisses, one hand on the bed next to her head to stabilize himself and the other running through her hair. She pulled away and stared lovingly up into his eyes.

“A little true, it was like half and half.” she said and he rolled his eyes. “Oh come on, you know that’s true! You even wrote it in your book.” she laughed.

“Okay okay, you got me there.” he said, laying back down next to her. She turned on her side so she was facing him, and she stared up at the boy she loved so much.

“I can’t believe high school is over.” she whispered, and he looked down at her.

“Yeah, its crazy. I mean, we both decided college was a no go, which means, we are done with school. We are now adults…” he trailed off, staring at the ceiling. For a few minutes, they sat in silence, thinking and enjoying each others company. “We moved out, and we are starting a new chapter of our life.” he said.

“There’s no one Id rather start my new chapter with.” Y/N said softly, and Jughead pulled her up so her head was laying on his chest.

“There’s no one I’d rather start with either. As long as I have you, I know that I can get through anything that life throws at me. I mean hell, look at what you’ve helped me with already. I was a misunderstood, bullied, homeless, damages kid, and then you came around and you did things no one else would. You loved me, you took care of me, you stood up for me, you believed in me, and now I have a published book, a book tour, a house….” he trailed off again, holding Y/N tighter. “I have a life I’m proud of, and I owe it to you.” he whispered, and Y/N sat up and kissed him.

“You’ve helped me too, Juggie. In more ways than you know. I love you.” she said, pulling away. Jughead opened his his mouth to respond, but just then Y/Ns phone went off, making them both jump. Y/N scrambled to the edge of the bed, and reached under it patting around until she touched cold glass. She pulled it up, and realized it was just an alarm. She turned it off, and looked at the time, jumping out of bed.

“Oh god, Juggie, you’re going to be late! It’s 8:30 and you’re supposed to be there in an hour!” she yelled, running to the closet to look for something to wear.

“So, we have an hour.” he said, dragging himself out of bed.

“It takes about 45 minutes to get there, plus it’s downtown so we have to find parking!” She ran out of the closet with a white button up and a tie, and she threw them at him. “Get dressed.” she yelled as she started back for the closet. Jughead grabbed her wrist and pulled her to him, and kissed her head.

“Relax, if I miss this one then so be it.” he smiled. “There’s no need to rush, we’ve still got the rest of our lives.”

Title: Now, What Do We Have Here?

@laymetorest77 requested: Hey there! Would it be too much trouble to request a smutty (as fuck) one-shot of Simon & Negan walking in on the reader masturbating, then it leads to a (possible) 3-some?

Character(s): Negan, Reader, Simon
Summary: You have been living in the Sanctuary for two months now and neither men showed any interest towards you. Though, it is a good thing that you’ve got a vivid imagination and after a long day at work, you decide to let out some steam.
Word Count: 3,979
Warning: SMUT! LIKE TONS OF SMUT! DIRTY TALK, TOO!
Author’s Note: Okay, I’ll take any reason to write more of Negan x Reader x Simon stories. So, thank you @laymetorest77 for requesting this! I hope it was okay, and very very smutty ;-)

I quit writing Homestuck meta a long time ago, but I guess the pre-4/13 fervor is infectious, because this popped into my head and wouldn’t go away. So here’s some musings on Homestuck, the ending, and its portrayal (or rather, erasure) of character identity and agency.

Let’s rewind back several years and a few subsubacts, to the meteor and battleship crews’ not so triumphant arrival in the combined session. Two of the kids’ number have been mind-controlled and forced to work for the Empress. Two have been thrown in prison. One has been banished to the outer reaches of space. The rest have been divvied up and placed on various Lands, given different tasks to be completed for the Empress. Even in beating SBURB and winning the game they have no escape, because she intends to rule the new universe they create… until it spawns Lord English and is destroyed.

Things look bleak. And things look even bleaker when Game Over rolls around, and most of the cast gets exterminated. But wait! John Egbert, Heir of Breath and leader of the Beta session, has gotten his hands on a miraculous artifact supposedly useful as a weapon against Lord English. He now has the ability to travel throughout time and space and to change things that usually cannot be changed. While his friends get wiped out, he fights the “tyrannous author” figure who has been telling their story wrong and wins. Surely with his newfound abilities, he will set things right and lead them to freedom.

Except.  Not really.

Oh sure, John “saves the day”. He uses his retcon abilities to create a new timeline where everyone lives and wins the game. But is it a victory? And did everyone really live?

I’m going to argue that the ending of Homestuck is a tragedy where characters’ identities are frequently ignored or overwritten in order to serve the utilitarian aims of the narrative (and Skaia). I do not make this argument believing Hussie intended it. I think the dip in quality and coherency at the end of Homestuck was the product of an author who was tired of his project, had lost track of a bunch of plot points and characters, and just wanted to be finished. But I do think its treatment of identity is drastically different from the rest of the work and sends some disturbing messages about how “happy” that ending really is.

For God sake Elena didn't lose anything with Damon . She was happy with Damon . Damon helped her in every way even Stefan said so . Elena never really loved Stefan she didn't even knew him properly she fell madly in love with Damon . You wanna ship se do but don't say Elena was puppet in de relationship . Stefan was just the chapter in her life the same way Elena was the chapter in Stefan life .

And if you want to ship DE then go ahead but stop being so willfully ignorant about your ship, anon.

I have multiple posts about the inflation of DE:

http://zalrb.tumblr.com/post/149414909030/it-was-stefans-love-who-healed-her-broken-heart

http://zalrb.tumblr.com/post/149396624855/love-isnt-a-choice-if-it-were-elena-would-have

http://zalrb.tumblr.com/post/154739617890/it-really-bugs-me-when-people-complain-about

http://zalrb.tumblr.com/post/139498020585/what-about-stelena-makes-them-superior-to-delena

http://zalrb.tumblr.com/post/156101914470/delena-is-about-acceptance-learning-and-growing

But you guys seem adamant on making me repeat myself.

“Elena never really loved Stefan”

Where is the proof of this? I mean next to the fact that she consistently declares her love for Stefan

These declarations of love are earned by how ride or die Elena was for Stefan.

Like you don’t face werewolves and go into vervain/snake-filled wells and run into a house full of tomb vampires and risk coming face to face with the supernatural monster trying to kill you if you don’t “really” love someone. This type of devotion is not bred from obligation, anon.

she didn’t even knew him properly

Elena knew Stefan so implicitly that she knew he was on the other line when he didn’t even say anything:

Elena’s emotional and spiritual knowledge of Stefan (which I speak about here: http://zalrb.tumblr.com/post/158674534265/can-you-show-examples-of-stelena-knowing-each) is unparalleled and that knowledge and that connection actually, and not DE-actually, but actually actually made Stefan a better person:

We started this season with Stefan drinking Elena’s blood. Is that going to come back to haunt him or haunt them as he drinks more human blood?
Julie Plec: Not at the moment. I think that in its own way, it was a smart choice. He’s come to terms with all his demons from last year and all the guilt that lead him down that road and Stefan’s issues with blood were psychological and emotional. And drinking small tiny amounts every day with the trust and the commitment of your one true love to build up the strength so that you never have to worry about becoming that guy, I think we want to see if we can deliver on that. (source)

And this declaration to Rebekah (and Julie’s quote about Stefan) is earned in action and not simply dialogue. It’s earned in action because pretty much whenever Elena came face to face with Stefan’s demons, his lust for blood, his voracious vampirism, her presence, her emotional knowledge of Stefan would make it subside. It begins in 1x10 because she’s actually seeing past his vampirism, embracing it and accepting it, seeing to the man:

which allows for this to happen:

and that type of connection doesn’t go away because in 5x04 it’s repeated:

And in 5x06 it’s reiterated how much Elena brings Stefan back to life:

And in 6x16, Elena is directly related, yet again, to bringing Stefan back to his humanity, narratively, she is directly related to him being the best version of himself:

she fell madly in love with Damon

I guess we’re ignoring the fact that Elena literally had to die and then be emotionally entrapped by a bond that gives her the illusion of free will to make DE happen. I talk about that here: http://zalrb.tumblr.com/post/156287220175/i-really-liked-your-toxic-relationship-post-but but the highlights are these:

“The bottom line is that Elena as a human made a very, very, very clear choice that she would love Stefan always and forever,” she says. “But then her entire life turned upside down, and any feelings she originally had for Damon were still there, and of course magnified. There was always going to be a little bit of a confusion there for her — but not enough confusion for her to be over Stefan. It would take a lot to rip Elena away from loving Stefan. It would take years and seasons. We’d be eighty, if we followed the natural progression of that relationship.”

Damon helped her in every way even Stefan said so

H O W?

I have asked this many times and no DEr has been able to give me a legitimate answer, all you guys give me is what you think happened, it’s conjecture based on unearned dialogue. I want to know what he’s actually done that has propelled Elena’s character development because from what I recall, it’s Stefan who’s the one who always helps her:

but don’t say Elena was puppet in de relationship

Except that she is though. Because the DE relationship is inherently Damon-focused, Elena is his plot line so she actually just has to be there, it’s not about the both of them unlike SE:

Julie Plec: I can only say that it’s a show predicated on a girl coming back to life and her development of love for one brother who then, because of who she is, changes the life of the other brother and that’s our show […] (source)

Even the 6x22 goodbye scene is inherently about Damon:

“ It’s our way of the characters having sex in like a beautiful way, so it made perfect sense on the road, which is symbolic of Damon’s journey as a vampire[…]”

as opposed to the SE goodbye which is inherently about Elena and their knowledge of each other:

“That’s where she admitted she never wanted to lose her humanity, she didn’t want to be a vampire, and so he found it fitting for them to revisit that environment,” Dries said.

The sire bond … Elena isn’t given any complicated feelings about the fact that she’s emotionally enslaved to someone else, all she has to do is believe that she loves him:

I think the takeaway, ultimately, is that Elena believes it so fundamentally that in that moment, it’s enough for Damon to let himself believe too.

and it’s Damon who gets the “character” exploration of struggling with something and letting himself believe it’s real or not real, they make it inherently about how Damon feels when it’s Elena that this is happening to:

And it’s gonna continue to eat at Damon for the next few episodes […] Just letting himself allow it to be real for one small moment is enough for Damon.

At least with Stefan and Elena, she’s allowed to have complicated feelings which actually enrich their relationship because she goes through a multitude of emotions:

Plec assures that this storyline will be a big deal for the Stefan/Elena relationship, especially as Elena struggles “with her desire to help rescue this person that she loved very purely and very deeply, but also learning the lesson that you can’t necessarily let yourself be consumed in your life by saving someone else’s.”

Even their first meeting is solely for the benefit of Damon:

It was us wanting to give Damon something to fight for. Ric is unbeatable, a jillion times stronger than Damon. Damon was a dead man, and Ric was relishing beating him, and Damon had nothing left to live for, having been passed over once again. It was just that slight little thing that she said to him, when she was just trying to take the sting off: “Hey, maybe if you and I had met first.” She was just trying to soften the blow. But in reality, he had this memory that gave him the will to fight back. I love that moment, where Ric’s about to drive the stake into him, and he’s like “You know what? I’m not ready to die today.”

And with SE, it’s about how they save each other:

Julie Plec: In my mind, Elena’s parents are dead. It was a human accident, and a human tragedy, and as we know, the night that Stefan pulled her out of the water and saved her life. That was kind of the beginning of their love story. (source)

She isn’t just this symbol to be reacted to.

Even when Nina talks about SE, it’s about the individualism of Elena in relation to the love of SE:

Nina: But Elena — it’s not about that for her. She cares about Stefan. And he’s important to her and she has this connection with him, but she will put her friends and her family and the safety of her town before anything else, and she’s not going to swoon over the fact that he’s a vampire and ask her to bite him right away and all that. (source)

and you see that in their relationship. She doesn’t realize she can be with Stefan until after he saves Bonnie’s life in 1x09, she doesn’t get back with Stefan in season 2 until after he sacrifices his freedom to get with Jeremy out of the tomb, they take care of the people around them together, whether it’s saving Matt or taking care of Caroline after being tortured or helping Bonnie when it comes to Emily, where is any of that with Damon? They can’t even meet Bonnie halfway in the Prison World because they’re too busy arguing about their relationship. She doesn’t know what’s going on with Jeremy because she’s too caught up sleeping with Damon, she isn’t even paying attention to the parent-teacher interviews, she doesn’t care that he killed Aaron and kidnapped Jeremy again and the show doesn’t actually explore the psychological battle of loving someone who does these terrible things, she makes one comment about bending her morals and that’s it, that fundamentally reduces her character.

In season 8, the show very rarely (if ever) talks about Elena as an individual person or about her significance to the other characters, it’s all about how if Elena was there then Damon wouldn’t go off the rails, if Elena was there she would be able to get through to Damon, I wish Elena was here so Damon wouldn’t be the way he is, there are like four times in the season when Elena is spoken about outside the context of what she can do for Damon. When Elena wakes up, she realizes that Stefan is gone and she and Bonnie briefly share in that grief and then instead of asking about Bonnie, it’s “where is he?”

It’s only when Damon is gone that Elena actually is the person she’s supposed to be because the show gives her other focuses like bringing Stefan back or bringing Bonnie back to life or setting Caroline up or getting everyone together to do shots so they can hang out, when Damon is back in the picture, the show just shackles her to him.

Stefan was just the chapter in her life the same way Elena was the chapter in Stefan life .

Except not? Their connection exists throughout the series and it’s proven repeatedly that they depend on each other and are tied to each other more than they’re tied to other people. Like Elena could break compulsion for Stefan but she couldn’t do the same for Damon.

In season 8, Bonnie tells Stefan to find his hope and what he does right after is write to Elena:

In the finale Elena is found sitting at the Salvatore crypt, writing about how she owes her life to Stefan:

[and I talk about how this is different than Matt here: http://zalrb.tumblr.com/post/158520624145/elena-wrote-in-her-journal-that-she-owed-her-epic]

In season 7, Caroline talks about how she’s been waiting for the day Stefan could love her the way he loved Elena

Not to mention the natural intimacy of SE and the romantic undertones of their scenes:

Like their narrative, their action, seeps through everything, DE has the dialogue, we have what actually matters.

Things KPOP/K Hip-hop Fans Need to Stop Doing:

Being homophobic - To say that idols can’t be anything than heterosexual is ridiculous. You have hundreds of idols of different backgrounds and experiences, to say that none of them could be queer is just small minded and downright ignorant. But this also implies to fans who only want an idol to be gay “so their ship can come true”. Or say “As long as their gay for the person I ship them with I’m happy if their gay”. Guess what? You’re just as small minded and ignorant as the person who doesn’t want to believe in queer idols.

• Shaming Female Idols - Don’t start calling female idols/celebrities “sluts” because she came two feet within your male fav or did a sexy dance that you’d go crazy if a male idol did it. Female idols work just as hard as male idols, if not even harder. Misogyny is rampant in the entertainment industry. They deserve the same respect as male idols.

Fatphobia - Some idols have hinted/talked about suffering from a eating disorders and people still call them fat. Idols have even talked about living on “water diets”. Idols are force to starve themselves to be the “prefect” or “desired” weight. So please don’t say “____ should lose weight” or “____ is hotter now since they lost weight”. BTS’s Jimin debuted with abs, and since then, anytime he doesn’t have the exact rock hard abs he did years ago, fans have either said he’s “not has hot” or even dropped him completely. Enough with this.

Using AAVE incorrectly - Stop making posts saying an idol is “bae as fuck”. You look like a damn fool. If you aren’t 100% sure what a word means don’t use it. For God’s sake those “Are you [Idol name] af?” were so bad. With that being said don’t make fake subs of an idol saying the n-word. No nonblack person should be saying n-word in the first damn place. And if you are not black you have no right to tell black people they shouldn’t say n-word either. That is our word to reclaim.

Anti-Blackness - Y'all ain’t slick. Anytime an idol gets within 2 feet of a Black person some of you start singing “I hope Oppa is safe” or “Those girls need to back up”. But when they’re near a Korean girl or white girl it’s always ‘I’m so jealous!“. When BTS was in L.A that was majority of the comments. Always telling black fans that we’re being overly sensitive when an idol does/says something offensive towards black people. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being critical of something as you enjoy it. So stop telling people to “stop listening to kpop then!”. No, stop with the blatant anti-blackness.

“Pedonoona” - This isn’t funny. If you are a grown woman, stop lusting after an idol under 18. Nothing is cute or quirky about a 20+ year old woman wanting to have sex with a person who’s still in high-school or barely 18. You are NOT “admiring” them nor is the age of consent law your friend, so don’t try use those as an excuse when you get called out.  Counting down the days an idol turns 18 so you can writing your nasty smut about them is beyond terrible. As much as ANY male fans get dragged for making sexual comments about younger female celebrities, female fans doing it should be no different. I’m honestly disgusted by the amount of fans trying to defend their pedophilia and see nothing wrong their gross behavior.

Leaving gross comments on idol’s SNS - Again, this isn’t funny. A man telling a woman he hardly knows “how hard I am” or to “suck my dick” is the exact same thing when a woman tells a man she hardly knows “how wet I am” or to “eat me out”. If you can’t message an idol to have a decent conversation, don’t do it at all.

“That’s just how Korea is!” - Stop. Don’t you dare clump all 50 million people together when your 1 bias fucks up. That’s not how Korea is, that’s how YOUR fav is. Korean fans have said time and time again to stop saying this. Why? Because it’s a racist generalization of their culture. When Korean fans can admit that an idol fucked up then international fans need to do the same.

Ignoring What Korean Fans Have to Say About Their Own Culture - Time and time again, Korean fans have said to stop doing certain things but many non-Korean fans continue to do it and even argue with them. A Korean fan breaks down word for word what problematic thing and idol said and y’all seriously argue with them, with your 2 month knowledge of the Korean language. Or if an idol does something that is disrespectful in Korean culture, y’all will insist that it isn’t. Korean fans have said it’s very offensive to say an idol looks like a lizard or is a rat because there is a long history behind them but y’all still do it for the sake of a joke. And the most infamous, ignoring Korean fans who say to stop accessorizing their language by putting random Hangul in your description or saying random Korean words when you talk.  If you can’t respect Korean people, then don’t you dare you say you their culture.

Sending Death threats - Listen, I understand how frustrating it can be when your fav fucks up. We’ve all been there. But there is NO excuse to send ANYONE death threats. That is crossing the line. Yes, problematic idols need to be called out but making bomb threats to their concert? Absolutely not and just straight up revolting. Hell, I’ve heard of fans calling idols anti-Asian slurs after they fucked up. Threats of violence or insulting their idol’s skills and talents is just disgusting. And it’s honestly awful that this really needs to be be said. That is not you express your anger. That is how you show you have no respect for other human beings.

Whitewashing - Honestly, it’s like beating a dead horse at this point. It’s already been proven that it is possible to make a picture brighter without touching an idol’s skin tone. A simple Google search will get you hundreds of tutorials on how to not alter a person’s skin. You’re just being lazy and refuse to learn how to make better edits if you claim it’s impossible to not bleach an idol in an edit. Vixx’s N gets bullied by his own members for his beautiful skin, and some y’all refuse to acknowledge it. You claim to love everything about an idol but constantly make their skin lighter?

Defending EYK - Just don’t. People have stated so many times why these people are nothing but gross racists. Everything down to their refusal to improve their butchered Korean, only to make fun of idols’ English to their “Gender Guessing” game. Do I even need to go into detail on why referring to a human being as “it” is just downright dehumanizing. Not to mention just how transphobic the entire game is to assume a person’s gender just because they have feminine or masculine features. Just stop defending them.

Groping Idols/Invading their privacy - Do I really have to explain why touching a person you don’t know inappropriately is wrong? I know it’s exciting seeing your bias up close in person but don’t put your hands on them. How many videos/pictures of fans getting hit by idol’s bodyguards or managers will it take for some of y’all to get this. Public figures deserve their privacy too.

Making fun idols’ “Engrish” - If you expect a person who grew up in Korea their entire life to speak perfect English is just astounding. If you can barely say ‘hello’ in Korean don’t you dare poke fun at their English. Idols are not obligated to learn English, or any other language other than their own. But they do it anyway because they want to communicate with their many fans, can y’all just tear them apart for getting one word wrong. Never forget B.A.P’s Hurricane had to be re-done because y’all never shut up about Himchan saying ‘loof’ instead of ‘roof’ and even followed them around New York City screaming it at him. Y’all need to stop doing this, like yesterday.

D*rp/R*tard jokes - Ableism isn’t funny. Mental illnesses are nothing that needs to be made fun of. You’re not showing your quirky way of showing love to someone. And don’t say these words are not directly making fun of people with neurological disorders. Because where do you think these word came from? It shouldn’t be hard to take these words out of your vocabulary and edits.

Inappropriate Gifts - Stop giving idols your panties, menstrual blood, sex toys, or OTP fanart/fanfics. Why would you think that shit is cute in the first place?

Transphobia - Idols like F(x) Amber and Nu'est Ren have talked about how much it hurts them when fans misgender them. Amber has been in tears discussing how much it hurts when fans call her oppa. And Ren has spoken about being harassed in men’s restrooms because of his appearance. Just don’t do it. Respect and use the pronouns people tell you to use.

“Oppa/Unni didn’t mean it!” - Yeah, just because a person’s intentions weren’t harmful doesn’t mean the end result wasn’t. We’ve all done problematic things but we all get called out on it. When we get called out we learn from it and know not to do it again. Cradling your fav when they do something offensive isn’t helping them learn. Ignoring something doesn’t make it go away. If anything, ignoring the problematic behavior will only lead to the person repeating it. If you were not personally offended an idol does something offensive don’t tell others they shouldn’t be. Because 9/10 if you weren’t offended by it, it’s not something that effects you.

Fetishing - You don’t “have a thing” for Koreans.  You just like some Korean idols. Enough with the “These Korean men ruined my life”. “Loving Asian men” or “sexy Asian men” is not a compliment. And by Asian you really just mean East Asian. Again clumping some million people together is a racist generalization. So don’t date East Asian men and women only because they remind you of your fav. Don’t hold these men and women on a higher pedestal than any other race solely because you watched a kdrama and you think Korean people are like your favorite character. Just don’t.

Taking down about American Hip-Hop - There’s no way in Hell that people who adopted a genre are better at it than the people who created it. K Hip-hop lyrics are no different from American lyrics. To make claim that K Hip-hop artists have “better lyrics” American rap is just amazing. What makes your fav any different? Korean rappers are always saying their biggest inspiration was in fact an American rapper. If it weren’t for Black Americans creating yet another genre of music your Korean fav wouldn’t be where they are today.

Revenge

Characters: Dean, Sam, reader, John

Warnings: swearing, arguing, angst

Word count: 4241

Summary: your childhood is taken away from you when three hunters decide to take your father. When you decide it’s time to get your revenge, you learn that maybe not everything is what you believed it was.

A/N: this is for @mamaredd123 birthday writing challenge. I’ve used quotes from the TV show I was given (Revenge) and they are highlighted in bold ((If anyone wants a part 2 to this just let me know because there’s a bit of a cliffhanger ending))

Three years old. That’s all you were.

It was only you and your father because your mother had left you both when you were born. He never explained why she did it but you wanted to forget about her, all that mattered to you was him. He was a single father raising the child of the women he loved that had left him. You thought that any other man would have just left their child at a foster home and took off. That’s why you adored your father so much; he stayed even when it wasn’t the easy option.

It was a normal day, or so you thought. You called out for your father when you heard a noise come from the living room. You were in your room when you heard a cry from downstairs. Although your father had previously had a talk with you about what to do in situations like this, just locking the door and waiting for him to come and get you seemed pointless. You were three years old, but you were brave.

"He Could Have Pie, He Just Won't Eat It Though...": On the Absence of Pie in Season 12 and the Demystification of Mary Winchester

I am prefacing this by saying that I haven’t watched the most recent episode yet, so if Dean and Co. happen to eat pie in 12x13 “Family Feud” I had no way of knowing it. :)

That said, in the end, even if Dean did enjoy a slice in this week’s episode, it really wouldn’t change a whole lot, because so far we have seen Dean very rarely eat one of his favorite types of food in S12: pie. Sure enough, the reason why we may see Dean not indulge in eating as much pie may be entirely be explained by things outside of the show - like maybe Jensen saying “man, please no more sweet stuff” ;) - still within the context of a show the absence of pie his season feels very telling. Especially so as pie for Dean definitely was a typ of comfort food and held a good deal of connotations and associations that all circled round notions of family, home, safety and love.

In the 12 seasons of Supernatural Dean’s love for pie has become just as infamous as his love for his baby. Even more so Dean’s eating habits as such have been used as an indicator for his emotional state of mind, his longings and wishes and especially over the course of the “Mark of Cain”-arc Dean’s hunger or lack thereof was drawn attention to as it revealed a lot about his emotional struggles (I have written lot on this topic, I’d insert links but as I am typing this on my phone I can’t) as well as the fight he faced within between human and demon. After all, little else is such a direct example of basic human necessities: the need to eat and drink to survive. That entire plot with Dean edging away from being human to becoming a demon was exemplified heaviest when Dean “left that cheeseburger uneaten” as Crowley reminisces before raising Dean as a demon in 9x23 “Do You Believe in Miracles”. Dean’s arc was contrasted with Castiel’s, who as a human for the very first time experienced hunger and thirst as two real necessities to be able to function.

The topic of hunger and food as indicators for humanity therefore have been very directly written into Dean’s personal story arcs from S8 onwards. Given this focus of recent seasons paired with the shows adamancy of inserting Dean’s love for pie as a recurring stylistic device over 12 seasons of the show in general, it feels very striking that Dean seems to have lost his taste or love for pie in S12 almost completely - the season in which he sees his mother returning from the dead.

As mentioned above Dean’s love for pie seems to be to a good extent directly connected to the memory and love of his mother. In fact, 5x16 “Dark Side of the Moon” even gives the audience as much of a “starting point” as to how Dean’s love for pie came to be in the first place when we see one of Dean’s memories play out in which we (as much as Sam) learn that the Winchesters’ “marriage was never perfect until after Mary died” and that Dean comforted his mother when his father had moved out for a couple of days after a bad fight (one now has to wonder if maybe that could have been due to Mary disappearing and hunting), told her that “daddy still loves her” and offered emotional support to his mother when he was a mere 4 years old. It’s that memory standing out clearest in relation to Deans love for pie as Mary not much later after she calls Dean “her little angel” offers him some pie. It’s by no means a truly happy memory imo, especially as it does kind of showcase how Mary tries to lighten the mood with the offer of pie. It’s this action really that frames and explains Dean using pie as “comfort food” in the most literal sense of the term. So of course this will sound somewhat over the top, but one could argue that every time Dean enjoyed a slice of pie in his life he remembered this moment with his mom. A moment nonetheless in which he again acted almost like an adult rather than a child (and yes, that is suppose will just always remain the tragedy of Dean Winchester: his lost childhood, that, as the show progresses, it seems was lost much earlier than when his mother died…

Keeping all of this in mind I think it is interesting to take a look at S12. The season of Mary Winchesters return. The undoing of the past. But for sure not the erasure of old wounds, scars or traumas, but rather the start to add a few new on top. Amara giving Dean “what he needed most” was his mother. She gave the Winchesters a chance to re-write their story, because maybe she wished her and her brother could do the same. What Amara wanted - and there is not a single doubt in my mind, because even though Dabb seems to have forgotten what he himself wrote at the end of last season, Amara wasn’t cruel just cause - was for Dean to be happy and find peace. Little did she know that bringing back the Winchesters’ mom would hardly bring that for him.

Now, as I have written about multiple times at the end of last season and prior the beginning of this season with Mary’s return we aren’t just loosely following the possible re-write of the Winchesters’ story (though much of this season to me feels sadly like “same old same old” and plain repeat), most of all we see the demystification of Mary Winchester - and that may actually be one of the most painful ones for the Winchesters and Dean especially as it seems countless times he is proven that his mother really is nothing like he remembered her to be. Of course there are few characters that have had such a “cult” surrounding them on the show as Mary Winchester. Her own children never really got to know her as a person as they simply were way too small for that to be the case, yet over time Mary was stylized, idealized and turned into a symbol that had very little in common with the very real Mary Winchester - as this season explores.

Not a single episode this season didn’t feature some sort of deconstruction of Mary Winchester as a person and character or a realization of who she is opposed to how she was imagined to be. It’s vital to see things for what they are, but there’s no denying it’s tough and eliminates foundations that provided at least some sense of stability - and so far we have not seen any kind of building new ground together for a stronger and more mature foundation. In the first episodes Dean learns that Mary “never cooked” or “continued hunting even when she was already married” and that many of his memories are unveiled to have been “false”. Getting to know their mother really is a constant progression of disillusionment for the Winchesters (and for Dean much more than for Sam since he doesn’t have any memories that could be rendered untrue or incomplete or downright “wrong”) and while I firmly believe that Mary does somehow care about her grown up sons, true emotion and connection doesn’t seem to be there. And one can’t really blame anyone for that because of course for Mary suddenly being alive is hard and she never learnt how to have grown up kids, because well… she never lived to have them in a natural progression.

Still, I think it is fairly well portrayed how much Mary struggles to form a meaningful connection with Sam and Dean. A relationship that could build into becoming the loving relationship that meant safety and home and everything being okay for Dean for example as seen in his memories - and one memory in particular featuring pie. Coming back to the symbolic meaning of pie again I think it’s valid to analyze the absence of it in S12 (I truly only remember Dean eating pie in 2nd episode when all was still fairly “okay” and happiness prevailing over Mary being back rather than the start reality setting in) in relation to the demystification of Mary as a symbol and mother figure. Pie may simply not provide the comfort and safety it once did for Dean, because like so much of his past and memories regarding his mother have been overturned and corrected, but not in a very healing - or worded differently - comforting way.

So in a way this season exemplifies imo rather perfectly the saying “You can’t have your pie and eat it too”, which describes you can’t have two good things at the same time, which seems awfully fitting to the whole Mary Winchester arc. And in that regard I think it is indeed very revealing how now that Mary is back “Dean could have pie”, but we don’t see him eat it…
