He was so focused he didn’t notice her until she leaned against the piano, coming into his view. Immediately he froze.
“Oh, hi,” he said, his cheeks flushing red from someone catching him in the auditorium.
“Hey.” She smiled. “Keep going.”
He looked down shyly. “Nah, I, uh, I’m no good in front of people.” This was mostly just an excuse. The girl’s name was Shannon. She was in his music class and he knew how talented she was. There was no way he was going to play in front of her.
“Sounded pretty good to me.”
