Fair warning, this post won’t make sense if you haven’t read my fanfiction, To Live, To Lose, To Love. Basically, the headcanon I’ve been working from spiraled out of control while I was writing the epilogue and I created an entire second generation of characters. Whoops! Ha. For anyone who doesn’t know, in the world of TLTLTL every person’s biology allows them to house babies, so naturally there were gay ships all over the place. We’ve got TsukkiYama children and KageHina children and AsaNoya children, and so forth. I’m not even sorry. The lovelies pictured are the children of a handful of the Haikyuu!! crew. And here’s a bit about each of them:
Kageyama Aito: Passionate and serious, can be very intense and laser-focused on his goals. Very driven and hardworking. Comes off as brooding and unapproachable but is actually very kind. People are often surprised at how gentle he is during interpersonal interactions because it’s so different from how he is when he’s working on anything he cares about. He’s the one who seems like he isn’t paying attention but actually has his finger on the pulse of everything and everyone around him. He tends to be the protector, quick to jump in on behalf of anyone he loves and defend them, even if it means getting into a fist fight. It’s gotten him into trouble before, but nobody can really fault him for it because he never instigates and is always justified.
Kageyama Eiji: 3 years younger than Aito, same age as Hiromi. Exuberant, extroverted, generally fun to be around. Likes to play pranks and tell jokes that may or may not be funny - he’s hit or miss as a comedian but everyone loves him for it. Very physically affectionate, he’s fond of hugs of all varieties, will jump on others in excitement, and basically has two settings: fast and loud. He runs everywhere and talks loudly. He’s popular with just about everyone because he’s basically a ray of sunshine like Shouyou.
Tsukishima Takashi: One year older than Aito and second-eldest of the kids. Sweet-natured and very giving. Passionate about volunteering to serve people in need. Introverted by nature but also very open and quick to befriend others. Soft-spoken and great at soothing tempers, he tends to be the mediator when fights break out between any of the kids. A little impulsive, he sometimes jumps feet-first into things and then has “oh shit” moments when he realizes he’s in over his head. Smart as a whip, but average grades because he often gets distracted by things he’s more interested in.
Tsukishima Hiromi: Almost-but-not-quite 4 years younger than Takashi. Also soft-spoken and introverted; a gentle soul. Not very talkative and tends to be a wallflower but doesn’t feel as awkward about it as other more extroverted people feel around him. He has the best grades in his class and is a really good writer. Carries a journal around with him and can usually be found scrawling ideas, thoughts, and doodles in it. He’s the one everyone talks to when they need an ear to bend or a shoulder to cry on because he’s an excellent listener but doesn’t really get tangled up in other peoples’ problems. He always tags along with the others when they get up to shenanigans even though he doesn’t really care one way or the other about having adventures.
Tanaka Asami: Same age as Eiji and Hiromi. Extroverted, boisterous, fun-loving, and competitive. Not above intimidation, particularly when first meeting any new person. Not the cleverest but far from stupid, she just focuses more on what she’d rather be doing, which is basically anything except for boring responsibilities. When she is focused she’s a force to be reckoned with, but most of the time she’s being a silly dork and trying to get a little recognition as someone cool. Basically a female version of her father.
Kuroo Machi: One year older than Aito. As a genderfluid person she embraces her biological maleness but tends to prefer her feminine side. Soft-spoken, witty, introverted, laid-back, and friendly. Very sharp, she’s good at reading other people’s character and usually has a good feel for other people within one or two conversations. She can take or leave the company of others but will always accept an invitation to hang out. She normally just listens to conversations unless she feels she’s got something to contribute that could improve the conversation or whatever plans are being concocted. Has been known to slyly encourage the others to get up to shenanigans that they probably had better not, but never anything truly worrisome.
Iwaizumi Nariko: Same age as Machi. Aggressively aspirational, enormously talented, effortlessly beautiful, and aware of all of it. Popular by default, sought after by many. Airy personality, very charming, never has anything outright bad to say about others but is a pro at delivering backhanded compliments. All too happy to instigate opponents and takes probably too much pleasure in winning, especially if she wins by a landslide. She’s Tooru’s child through and through.
Nishinoya Hideo: Eldest of all the kids by 3 years. Tall, cheeky, a bit nerdy. Brave like Yuu, but mild-mannered like Asahi. Favors a “wild” appearance like Asahi, giving him a rugged, manly appearance that belies his inner nerdiness. He has a great sense of humor and a lot of energy, and has interests that don’t seem to suit his macho appearance, such as fantasy novels and abstract painting. He’s the keeper of the kids and watches over them with an affectionate, teasing manner.
