how i discovered feminism

Hello! My name is Abbie. I am one of Jess’ housemates in Sheffield, I also study Creative Writing at the same uni and I like to pull funny faces.

Sometimes I’m scared to consider myself a feminist because I feel like I don’t know enough about the subject. However over the past few months I have learnt so much through Jess, she’s my little fountain of knowledge, and also through this blog! I even found myself on a feminist march with her at the end of last year - something that I have never done before. Since I really first thought about the idea of being a feminist, I’ve found myself wanting to know more; I suppose it’s all about getting involved! Little by little I am becoming comfortable not only in this, but also in myself.

This is my body. I’m 21 years old, I am 5 ft 7" last time I checked and I rarely weigh myself - but I don’t mind. Let’s face it, fat rolls are not the worst thing to happen to anyone ever. I think the Body Positive Week is a wonderful idea; beauty does not have to be defined by what we see in the media today, because there are all different kinds of beauty out there! Bodies should be celebrated no matter what shape or size.

So yeah, that’s me!

Hi! I’m Loki and my URL is liketheashesofflags. I am a feminist because I believe no one should have to strive or fight for equality. Feminism is important to me because as I become more aware of the ingrained imbalances in society through how my friends talk and act, it makes me act and call them out on their bullshit. I am trying to make sure I am aware of things I considered normal, but am now aware are not normal or fair at all!
