how do people not know her

Friendly Reminder

Friendly reminder that Rhysand had a little sister.

Friendly reminder that Cassian probably loved that little girl, because she didn’t know or care that he was a bastard. She just knew him as Cas, as the male who helped her learn how to fly and cheered her up by pranking Rhys and doing whatever he could to make her smile.

Friendly reminder that, as a baby, she would have grown up around Azriel. That while other people might have flinched at his scars and shadows, they would simply have been normal to her. And she would have held his hand with her small fingers and let him make shadow puppets on the walls without using his hands.

Friendly reminder that Rhysand wasn’t her only brother. Friendly reminder that Cassian and Azriel were also her brothers. Friendly reminder that they lost her, too.

part 1 | part 2:

It’s been sixteen hours since Mike walked away from El.

It’s become a habit to count his experiences with El. He counts everything with her, they both do. The 353 days they waited to see each other. Seven years since he told her he loved her, tripping over his feets and words, seven years since she said “I love you” right back. 729 dates. 6 school dances. Hundreds of little notes left in lunches, on the fridge, snuck into pockets of clothes. One little apartment on the edge of Indianapolis. And three massive fights, now four.

Sixteen hours since he’s been with her, kissed her, heard her voice and her laugh, sixteen hours since he’s seen her, her face contorted in painful guilt and shock, her eyes begging him please, please don’t go.

But he had to get out, he had to leave and get away from her as far as he could and as fast he could. He has his keys in his pocket, so he’s on his bike and flying down the highway, driving into the night of city, no intention of going anywhere but away. Driving for what feels like days, thoughts racing through his mind a reminder of the way everything he’s ever known has fallen apart, and that what has never been strong is only destined to break.

24 years of marriage, all a spectacular illusion, a show put on for an audience of a gullible believers. It ends in as it began, one simple mistake after another.

Just how long would it take before he and El were exactly where his Mom and Dad were?

catch up here.

It seemed to be one of the last few tolerable autumn days in London and so Sophia decided her and Josie would spend the afternoon in the park. The sun was shining - well, not overly so and for anyone from outside of the UK it would probably be considered anything but a sunny day - but it wasn‘t too cloudy and not raining so it basically counted as one. Sophia dressed both herself and Josie in layers upon layers so that they‘d be prepared for any kind of weather, packed a few snacks and something to drink, and then they were on their way.

What makes someone your soul mate?

I think too many people nowadays are too hasty to jump to the conclusion that someone may be your soul mate, when in reality they are not, and this person may be simply wrong for you, in a romantic way at least. So, I’d like to clear the air a bit.

I know that sometimes the sayings apply: “different strokes for different folks,” and “opposites attract” but I’m running on a different thing now: soul mates. Even though you can say this is only a “video game” and that these characters “aren’t real” they in fact are because you bump into these types of people throughout your life.

I believe that people are attached to Max Caulfield in part because there were 3 arduous years of waiting for the next video game in the franchise, and partly because the story of “Life is Strange” was shown out of sequence. So, people became attached to this character, and if you had been one of those who shipped Max and Chloe, then you also were attached to them too and probably still are.

However, let me feed this thought into your mind: it was all a lie, and if you try to now play the game in its chronological sequence (this is assuming that the events in LiS actually happened, which, I believe they may have not, or only happened if a certain set of choices were made by Chloe and or Rachel) you would not be able to. Playing “Before the Storm” first and then playing “Life is Strange” will make you cringe and drown in depression. It is almost impossible. Especially knowing how much Max abandoned Chloe and still keeps forgetting her and pushing her aside and not putting her first (though she tries to in the end). I think it’s important to approach this dilemma scientifically and using psychology.

So that, in turn, leads me to my questions:

What do Max and Chloe have in common?

What do Rachel and Chloe have in common?

Whether you’re attached to Max or Rachel, I’m putting this question out there in a serious tone.

The only thing Max and Chloe have in common is their childhood and playing pirates. You simply do not have the same connection with a childhood friend than you do with someone you meet while you are older. You don’t really even get to pick your childhood friends sometimes as this is something that is caused by outside circumstances that pushed you together, such as: living close to each other, or your parents being buddies with their parents. That being said, when Max and Chloe re-united it was only because situations outside their control forced them to bump into each other again.

Furthermore, Max didn’t reach out to Chloe because she wanted to, she reached out to Chloe because the situation forced her to be close to her. Tell me that if you weren’t stuck in an elevator with some people for hours at a time that you wouldn’t unintentionally form some sort of bond between them. Tell me that if you experienced any form of tragedy, whether it be a car accident, a shooting, a natural disaster, a war, etc., that you wouldn’t reach out to people in need and form some sort of bond. I know tragedies do bring the best and also the worst in some people, depending on the person. That’s how you can tell how a person really is, because in moments of ultimate crisis their true personality comes out.

I’ll break it down even more though. To have a good relationship with someone, it doesn’t mean you need to have EVERYTHING in common and like all of the same things, but it’s important to have in common the most important ones, such as values and future goals.

Max vs. Chloe (LiS 1):

- Music: Max: sad, emo indie music VS. Chloe: punk rock

- Movies: Max: foreign horror bloody murder and indie VS. Chloe: the classics like Blade Runner

- Hobbies/past-times/Likes: Max: photography, introspection, playing guitar, pirates VS. Chloe: smoking, walking around, sitting around, going to rock concerts, being spontaneous, writing graffiti, working on junk cars, cats, driving her truck, cars, science, pirates

- Values: Max: photography, being good at someone and needing constant reassurance from others that you are good, finishing school, pleasing her favorite teacher - Mr. Jefferson, being analog, snooping/spying on people, not calling loved ones, helping everyone around her except those closest to her VS. Chloe: family, friends, chilling, having an attitude and being herself, honesty, trust, empathy

- Core Beliefs: Max: I’m nothing, I’m not cool enough, I don’t know who I am, helping everyone even if they don’t ask for help, finding out the truth and punishing the guilty VS. Chloe: the world is out to get me, everyone abandons me, I’m a problem

- Future Goals: Max: fame in photography, self-fulfillment VS. Chloe: getting out of Arcadia Bay, finding Rachel, feeling better, forming a family with the one she loves

- Priorities: Max: being good at something and not being so lame VS. Chloe: finding Rachel and getting out of clinical depression, getting over her dad’s death

- Relationship position (most of the time, sexually and non-sexually): Max: bottom VS. Chloe: a natural bottom but here she must be a top

- Habits (good or bad): Max: dropping her camera, obsessing about selfies, people-pleaser, insecurity, being a wallflower, forgetfulness, flakiness, jealousy VS. Chloe: smoking, drugs, clumsiness, snapping at people

- How they met: childhood friends / Chloe passing by in her car and saves her from being attacked by Nathan

- What brought them together: being in the same town, situations, coincidence, superpowers, the situation of Rachel being missing and finding what happened to Rachel

Rachel VS. Chloe (BtS):

- Music: Rachel: punk rock, rock, indie VS. Chloe: same

- Movies: Rachel: the classics VS. Chloe: same (plus directors cut)

- Hobbies/past-times/Likes: Rachel: being spontaneous, going to rock concerts, listening to music, acting, modeling, school, law, being a good student, being popular, makeup, playing with fire VS. Chloe: smoking, walking around, sitting around, going to rock concerts, being spontaneous, writing graffiti, working on junk cars, cats

- Values: Rachel: being a good friend, trust, empathy, family, caring about those she loves, being attentive to the other person’s needs, helping others, encouraging others, playing games, honesty VS. Chloe: family, friends, chilling, having an attitude and being herself, honesty, trust, empathy, selflessness

- Core Beliefs: Rachel: all my life has been lies, I’m tired of giving so many fucks all the time and living up to the perfect image everyone expects from me VS. Chloe: the world is out to get me, everyone abandons me, I’m a problem

- Future Goals: Rachel: getting out of Arcadia Bay, being with Chloe, becoming an actress (or who knows?), being honest with herself (aka: not giving any fucks, like Chloe), being a free spirit, making Chloe happy VS. Chloe: getting out of Arcadia Bay, finding Rachel, feeling better, forming a family with the one she loves

- Priorities: Rachel: being with Chloe, supporting Chloe, encouraging Chloe, finishing what she started, confronting her problems VS. Chloe: getting in touch with her friend, Max, being with Rachel, supporting Rachel, impressing Rachel, getting over her dad’s death

- Relationship position (most of the time, sexually and non-sexually): Rachel: top VS. Chloe: bottom (though sometimes it’s bottom VS. top - they switch, with is healthy and normal)

- Habits (good or bad): Rachel: getting what she wants, playing games, drinking, being impulsive, possessiveness VS. Chloe: smoking, drugs, clumsiness, snapping at people

- How they met: Rachel liked Chloe so she stalked her (asked others about her, followed her, tried to find out things she liked), at a rock concert, being at the same school

- What brought them together: mutual attraction, Rachel pursued her, they had things in common, the incident at the rock concert where Rachel stepped in to save her, Chloe had experienced loss and became a hard ass for it and Rachel was experiencing being fake to others around her and also was experiencing a hard situation with finding out her dad cheated on her mom, the forest fire (ie: Chloe was an accomplice), Rachel caring about Chloe and wanting what’s best for her, problems at home with their parents (their fathers especially), grief and anger and solace

The early Disney Princesses are more than You give Them Credit for

(Neni’s Advent Calendar, Day 16)

Older Disney Princesses get a bad rep. There’s absolutely nothing to dispute in that statement. As well-regarded and respected their movies are for their technical achievements and beautiful animation alone, whenever you hear people talk about the actual characters appearing in these movies, especially the protagonists, you will rarely find people lose a nice word about them. Accusations of Snow White, Cinderella and Aurora being anti-feminist characters, teaching little children, regardless of gender, harmful lessons and values, are easy to make and thus a dime a dozen. They’ve been parodied, ridiculed and done off as an archetypal relic of the past century’s culture, by everyone and their mothers, including Disney themselves.

Maybe that’s just the reason Disney have been trying so hard to “modernize” these characters, by rewriting their stories and personalities to the point of being non-recognizable in their recent slew of remakes. 2014′s “Maleficent” and the 2015 version of “Cinderella” come to mind. But do we really need remakes like that? Don’t get me wrong, the original films were clearly products of their time, but the way Disney advertises these reimaginings as “updated” and “feminist” makes it rather clear that the only reason they exist is to please the crowd who’s convinced the original versions of these characters are “harmful” or “badly written” by modern standards. And that’s just not a sentiment I can get behind at all.

Two Words

Happy Birthday @poppyssupergirl!!! I hope you are having a fabulous day and that you are getting all the cake and ice cream and whatever else you could so desire <3

Here is a little fic for you, I hope you enjoy!

Cat tapped her fingers along the edge of her desk, lips pursed in a thin line as her eyes skimmed over the fresh new Superman interview splattered across the front page. It was aimed at her, of course. Metropolis hadn’t had a major incident in a while and Lois had conducted so many interviews with the Man of Steel over the years that there could be no other reason for another one now.

Normally, Cat preferred to keep up with The Daily Planet from a distance, going so far as to have her IT Hobbit install special software on all her devices that would allow her to surf the online articles without adding to the click count, but every year on the anniversary of her departure from that paper she walked to the corner store and purchased a hard copy. And every year it felt like a victory; knowing that despite all the ‘Good Old Boys’ had done to keep her down, she had risen above. Cat had never had Lois’ charm, that something quality that let Lois smooth her way through the ranks, and in those days the Planet’s newsroom hadn’t been the place for a woman like Cat to charge ahead. So she had left and charged ahead on her own, and every year on this date she bought the paper to remind herself of just how far she had come.

This year should have been another sweeping victory, only she had had one too many martinis at the awards show last month and let the details of her ritual slip to Lois, and now instead of looking down at some mundane, hacked-together article from one of the usual lesser beings the paper employed, she was faced with this approximation of what Lois clearly thought was a good joke. And it would have been, Cat could admit that, if the players had been reversed. But in the months since Supergirl had surfaced, Cat had only managed to snag one interview with the girl. One, as compared to the three, no four—it was right there in the print, the entire article dedicated to Superman’s remembrances of his first year wearing the cape—interviews Lois had had in that same span of time. Those early months had secured a place for Lois’s name right next to Superman’s for the rest of time. And Cat was falling behind.

I had a really great time at Holiday Matsuri! It was my boyfriend’s first con (I dragged him to it) but I think he really liked it. I mean he’s also a nerd but like…a different flavor of nerd. Anyways I had a lot of fun at my contest like I can’t even believe the judges scored me an 8.5, a 9.5, and 10 respectively like…I don’t even care that I didn’t win.

That score was enough like I’m so proud of myself? I’m so fucking shy I have no idea how that happened? I cannot believe I called a random audience person up and kissed him like….who is this wild bitch…I don’t know her??? (My boyfriend just interjected that I somehow was able to do all that while I wont even let him watch me type this because I get embarrassed when he watches me type.)

I met some really awesome people, got some really cute things, my boyfriend got a pic and autograph from D.Va’s voice actress, he’s like elated over that and now keeps comparing me to her jokingly like “Why don’t you hug me like D.Va, Madison? Why don’t you love me like D.Va??”

Anyways I had a lot of fun, also, sorry for putting gifs of my boobies on all your dashes. I’m done now lmao.

This is actually one of my favorite pictures I’ve taken. The girl in the striped shirt was lying back at her friend, closing her eyes and just peacefully listening to the song, while everyone else was standing there with their phones. I wanted to talk to her but I was to shy so I took a picture instead. Wanted to ask her what she was thinking about during the song ( ILYSB by LANY)
It’s crazy how everyone has someone else on their mind while listening to a song, I wanted to know if she had a special person in mind or if she just closed her eyes to be in a different place. Imagine this ( and I dare everyone to do it net time ) standing in a crowded room full of people, while the artist is on stage performing.
Close your eyes, try to just listen to who ever is singing and be the only person in the room. As if the artist is singing just for you.

i am aware that there`s the meme of tharja being a yandere because of how possessive she is with Robin . at first , i was able to see it and agree with such a thing . but after really looking into her character again , i can`t define Tharja as that type of - dere . to really give light to what kind of person Tharja can be , i`d personally headcanon that my Tharja be given the Kuudere stereotype . she`s rather rude to a lot of people when they first meet her , and how she speaks to those on the camp grounds make it seem like she has a grudge against the people that have joined the Sheperd`s .

in actuality , all tharja wants is to be friend people and she`s very much capable of doing so . she`s just so used to acting rude towards people due to growing up in Plegia . she`s also rather shy and doesn`t know how to be as expressive as others are to her . it`s one of the various reasons why she`s so self conscious about herself .

rose mcgowan is out there naming all the hypocrisy and bullshit, justifiably angry at those she knows were and are complicit and of course now everyone is doing a hot take on how she’s too bitter, too angry, too hostile, too extreme and is dividing the movement and attacking the wrong people and I’m having FLASHBACKS. this is trauma rage, but no one has compassion for that of course. she’s not playing good victim, despite the fact she’s NOT ABLE TO because she’s TRAUMATISED. after years of being betrayed, silenced, blacklisted and generally treated like shit by everyone even remotely associated with her abuser, who went on to make millions more dollars with no censure of power, people are surprised she’s angry? they think her anger is INDISCRIMINATE?? no, every one who has ever been abused within a community and then experienced that community fail them completely in the aftermath knows EXACTLY how rose feels and why she is lashing out the way she is. they CREATED this trauma in her, all of them, and until we have a world where victims of abuse truly matter and are prioritised above their abusers or other people’s sense of comfort, communities will continue to make the trauma of an abuse survivor worse and worse and worse until we are incapable of being palatable and they feel justified in exiling us.anyway, rose mcgowan calling meryl streep a hypocrite made my fucking day cos it’s FUCKING TRUE.

Bring in a small house with the whole family is driving me nuts but I'm trying to be good for everyone, but my sister is being extremely rude to me and I don't know why and I'm trying not to be rude but sometimes I just say 'you need to stop being rude I'm sick of it' and remove myself, but I always get in trouble. I also just heard mum talking to her about me being autistic and it sounds like their demonizing me, how the heck do I deal with it?

If your family is being rude to you, it’s perfectly acceptable to ask them to stop. Unfortunately it’s very common for the parents of autistic people to see us as rude or overreacting because they don’t understand us, but from what you’ve said it sounds like all you’ve done is tried to stop someone from winding you up, and you used your words to do it, therefore it’s unlikely that you’re in the wrong here.

As for dealing with it, if you think you can you could try speaking to your mum/sister about it (or other family member if they’re in the picture) and explain that you’re sensitive to different things/more easily irritated and it isn’t your fault so coud they please be more respectful

Hope this helps

I may be in the minority, but I really like yui. If you can, can you tell us some things you think are really under rated about her, as in things that should be more appreciated about her. Idk how my English is this morning I am very tired I apologise

Blessed Anon, if you say you are part of a minority for liking Yui, then I am part of that minority as well. Because I think there are several things that I think Yui can do that is amazing.

For one, she can rock all colors. But mainly pink and red. I don’t know many people who can do that. And she has fashion sense. Honey, look at that outfit. It may not be the most modest thing, but it is fasionable in my opinion. Look at her outfits! I think that creators did a good job with Yui and her character design.

Second, Yui came back from the dead. Let that sink in, Yui died, and came back. I don’t know about you, that is pretty amazing. It’s not everyday a human can come back from the dead.

Third, Yui is able to take care of herself. She can cook, kick butt and tell people off if needed, and she is good in school even though she was homeschooled her whole life. Which maybe something people push to the side about Yui, despite being raised as a Catholic child, still can live on her own if needed which I think is pretty amazing for her adoptive father to teach jer.

Forth, I believe Yui is symbolism for something. Specifically, hope and change. Throughout the game, I notice sure, the boys might be symbolism for sins of humanity, but Yui seems to walk in and see something in the boys that I know I wouldn’t have seen at first. The boys have this abusive cycle they bring, and Yui breaks that cycle it take time, yes, but she still does it. I have learned a lot through Yui, that it is possible to save everyone but it take time, effort, and patience. Which may sound religious but to be far, that’s one lesson the game taught me.

Kazuki and Mei

I’ve been thinking that I really haven’t shown or explained just how close Kazuki and Mei are. So let’s fix that.

The two are practically family considering their parents are also practically family. To Kazuki, Aoi is his aunt while with Mei, Makoto and Kyoko are her uncle and aunt. So they see themselves as cousins.

Occasionally they do morning jogs together. They frequently study together as well.

And of course they did grow up together and is how they developed such a close bond. If one of them has a problem, they go to the other for advice. If one needs to vent, the other one listens. They know things about one another that many people don’t know.

It’s a bummer that I haven’t been able to showcase their friendship as much. I would like to change that in the future of course.

Kylo's feelings for Rey and his loss of control at the end of TLJ

For being someone who seems to lose his temper so easily, Kylo is incredibly calm when dealing with Rey.

She’s always so aggressive with him, she already tried to shot him twice at first sight, she always calls him horrible names (“monster!” “murderous snake!” “you will pay for what you did!”), but he never reacts. And not because he’s not listening or because her words don’t matter to him, because he still remembered how Rey called him a monster in the forest and he even remembered her eyes when she called him such, so clearly it’s something that deeply affected him. But he doesn’t call her names back or try to hurt her.

That’s even more interesting: he never tries to harm her. In the forest, he was mostly defending himself and he never went for the kill; he keeps saying to other people that he will kill her, but whenever he had Rey in his hands he never tried to do anything like that. He does underline her poor origins, but I don’t even think he realizes how hurtful it can be because as a prince, he really has no idea how to treat people.

The only times he loses his temper is when he knows he’s about to lose her. But don’t get this the wrong way: he doesn’t force her to stay. He just loses his temper because he’s frustrated she doesn’t understand the potential of their joined forces (“you’re still holding on! let go!”). But he doesn’t get violent about it. It’s always Rey who starts the fight and leaves at the end.

Which brings me to the controversial ending of TLJ, which some people considered the end of reylo, of the force bond and everything. I’m talking about Kylo’s behavior from the moment he wakes up in the throne room up to when Luke leaves the battlefield.

The first thing that hit me about those ten (twenty?) minutes of the movie is how dramatically different Kylo acted in comparison to the rest of the movie. He had been mostly calm, collected, silent even during the most tragic moments (attacking Leia), but of all a sudden the “tantrum kid” we saw in TFA comes back at full force and he takes a series of unreasonable decisions, so unreasonable that even Hux side-eyes him with utter confusion more than once. I’m not gonna list them all, but the weirdest one was certainly deciding to fire all the FO weapons against Luke. A single man who was WALKING towards them without protection or anything. Hux’s face was literally a “what the fuck?” for the whole thing.

Why would he do that? There’s more than one reason. In my opinion, Kylo starts losing it the moment Rey refuses his hand. From that moment on, he starts falling back into his hole of isolation and darkness. The only person who seemed to understand him up until then is suddenly turning her back (AGAIN!!) on him and even tries to fight him! He’s back to level 0 and he doesn’t like it.

Plus, he just killed Snoke. He already killed his father and hasn’t recovered from that emotional wound yet (“your soul is split in half” as Snoke tells him). The only other person he looked up to was Snoke and he ended up killing him FOR REY. And then, even Rey, the person he did all of this for, abandons him.

Kylo is no new to betrayal, as we learn throughout the movie. Luke tried to kill him in his sleep. His own uncle tried to kill an innocent kid in his sleep. Is there anything worse? You don’t recover from that kind of trauma that easily.

I think those last minutes of the movie up to Luke disappearance are the result of that. It’s just too much for Kylo. He loses control and Luke seems to know that. That’s why he lets him vent out his frustration on him and at the same time he seems to reassure him (“I will always be with you, just like your father”).

After Luke leaves, Kylo seems to calm down. And that leads us to the last scene we see of him and Rey, where they force bond once again and Rey closes the door of the falcon on him without saying a word, expressing her disappointment in him, and he just lets her go and looks at her with a longing and the knowledge that he’s taken all the wrong choices. (But, in my opinion, also with the knowledge that he can still change path!!)

In conclusion, there’s no reason to think Rey and Kylo went back to the start or that their bond is broken or that Kylo is completely lost. I think that instead, we had a really great character development and this movie laid foundation for what could be the greatest love story in the SW cinematic universe.

Ai Yazawa End-of-Book Notes 1-21

So at the end of every volume of NANA, Ai Yazawa has a brief paragraph about the manga or just some introspection about her life. They give great insight into the series and I think only a few are found on the scans of NANA online, so I thought I’d share them all!

Volume 1

The creator, Ai Yazawa, told us, “I created this story so that it could be enjoyed as a stand-alone and, at the same time, have a complete ending that could be connected to an ongoing series.  I hope you’ll look forward to the future of the two Nanas!”

Volume 2

A note from Ai Yazawa: “I had thought that if the two Nanas met each other, they would probably be constantly fighting, but they seem oddly friendly.  What’s up with that?!  It’s one of me (not so) seven wonders (ha-ha).”

Volume 3

Since childhood, the artists I’ve looked up to haven’t been writers and illustrators, but mostly musicians.  Music provides me the most emotional effect and excitement.  If there was no music, I don’t think my creative juices would boil.  Music is that important to my life.

- Ai Yazawa

Volume 4

I realized one day that there are hit songs with the same names as the main female characters, NANA, JUNKO, and SACHIKO (the kanji for JUNKO is different, though).  It’s not that big a deal, but I sometimes just hum the melodies longingly.

- Ai Yazawa

Volume 5

In the initial drafts, Nana’s band was a rockabilly band like the Stray Cats.  But due to various circumstances, I didn’t keep it that way.  But if they were rockabilly, Ren, Nobu and Shin would have had pompadours.  And Yasu too?

- Ai Yazawa

Volume 6

When I was a child, I used to take piano lessons.  Even after I stopped taking lessons, I bought sheet music I liked and continued playing.  I’ve had my hands full for several years now, but one of these days I’d like to learn how to play jazz piano, which I’ve wanted to do for years now.

- Ai Yazawa

Volume 7

I had an opportunity to interview a group of professional musicians.  I showered them with questions, but they answered willingly, and it was very helpful.  I was having problems balancing the fictional world of manga-like simplicity and gorgeousness with a sense of reality.  But I realized again that what’s important is the humanity of the characters.

- Ai Yazawa

Volume 8

When I was in high school, there was a cool girl in my class who was a lone wolf.  I was really into a foreign New Romantic-type band then, and when she asked me one day, “Do you want to go to their concert together?” I was overwhelmed.  My heart fluttered more than when I was with my boyfriend (☺).  Have you had a Hachiko experience like that?  - Ai Yazawa
