how can you not root for them

Across the Swamp

It is the roots from all the trees that have died
out here, that’s how you can walk
safely over the soft places.
Roots like these keep their firmness, it’s possible
they’ve lain here centuries.
And there are still some dark remains
of them under the moss.
They are still in the world and hold
you up so you can make it over.
And when you push out into the mountain lake, high
up, you feel how the memory
of that cold person
who drowned himself here one day
helps hold up your frail boat.
He, really crazy, trusted his life
to water and eternity.

Dear people who are considering buying plants:

There is no such thing as a “no care” plant. They ALL require at least SOME effort on your part to make sure they don’t die.

Air plants do not survive on air. They survive on humidity. Your house is likely not humid enough for them. You’re gonna need to help a plant out sometimes.

“Drought tolerant” plants and “low water” plants are not “NO water” plants. Water them deeply and space the waterings out to encourage deep root growth. That’s right, you’re gonna need to help a plant out sometimes.

Any plant can develop disease or pest problems. Check ‘em out from time to time and make note of anything unusual. The fixes for plant problems are usually pretty inexpensive if you catch them early (or do your research on how to care for them in the first place, but yes, you’re gonna need to help a plant out sometimes.

SHOOT Reunion Panel

Sarah and Amy had lunch together a couple weeks ago - they are good friends and they have a lot in common so keeping in touch is fun.

Sarah’s favorite things about Shaw: her eating food with knives.
She also says Shaw’s foreplay would have been cutting each other and punching each other and biting.
Shaw was masculine and always equal to the boys - never portrayed otherwise. That was her most favorite part - how tough and violent.

Amy’s favorite part about Root? “I think Sarah should answer.”
Amy loved getting to flirt with and annoy Shaw, because Sarah is good at portraying the anger. “But I knew she loved me.”
“Both the characters kind of ran things - the girls in charge” - Amy on Shoot

Sarah’s fave ep was 6741!
Sarah took the role because it went to dark places you don’t get to go to on TV.
Sarah’s fave scene: end of 6741 by the carousel! It was very challenging but will always be the 1st thing she thinks of when thinking of POI
Sarah says “I only look good because Amy makes me look good.”

Amy says she liked the part (in 6741) “was when Sarah was biting me”
Amy says she loves their first meeting - the iron and all the sexual tension.
“Was this relationship always meant to happen?” Sarah: (shouting) YES! F**K YEAH!!

“How do you prepare to do a different version of the character, like in 6741?” SARAH: Acting is a lot of human psychology and we are all more than just one thing. With actors you find the closest part of you to the character; she tried to tap into herself there.
Sarah: “There were plenty of times when I was playing Shaw that I didn’t know if I was doing a good job.”
Sarah: I wasn’t supposed to emote much, but we aren’t like robots.

SS: “Kissing Amy is like biting into the most succulent peach. It’s sweet & juicy & just a little wet. It’s better than your dream, sister.”

Someone asked them to improve a scene and Amy says “Hasn’t someone here written some fanfic? … We’ll do a stage reading of anyone’s fic.”
Sarah and Amy acting out Root coming back alive.
“Root.”
“Did you miss me?”
“Is that you?”
“Are you ready for this?”
“I’ve never been more ready”
“Look behind you”
(They [fake] kiss)

Someone asked about SHOOT kinks and Amy just said “we’re gonna keep things ziptied.”

Sarah says Shaw definitely realized she loved Root back in s4; that at the beginning she didn’t have a thing for Root & took her by surprise
“In an alternate universe the two of them were together and made little SHOOT babies.” - Sarah
Sarah says in s4 the flirtations started working, like when Root picked her up on the bike & when Shaw realized she needed Root to help her
Sarah says 6,741 was a result of the fans feedback on Twitter.

Amy says that Root got her hacker skills from playing Oregon Trail.

Sarah said kissing your friend is like kissing your sister.

Amy says the weird part is the audience of the cast and crew when shooting, but she was glad Sarah was there.
Amy also said that there’s not a person she’d rather have that experience with than Sarah. (About shooting 6741)

Amy says Root made the decision in s5 she did because if she chose Shaw, there would be no world anyway.
Amy also says that being The Machine was the closest Root could get to having both.

Sarah likes doing films because you can take more chances and move at a slower pace.
Amy likes TV because you gain a family in the crew & the characters get to evolve and change. “But I guess shows can be cancelled.”

“In canon we see Shaw has a PD, and Root probably does as well, how does that change the way you approach the characters?”
Amy says that’s where you got a lot of quirks of the characters, but you just play them as truthful to what’s on the page.
Sarah says she remembers she had to look up Axis II disorders to learn how to play things accurate.

Sarah loved working w/Bear b/c the takes were different because you had to work w/what he wanted to do. “You’re not gonna out cute the dog”
Amy telling a story about how they were shooting outside and it was SO COLD they were both getting frostbite but they had to keep shooting. But then the animal handler came & had to take Bear because it was too cold for him, so she was jealous.

When asked, “Did Root have a crush on Hannah?” Amy said, “She was before your time, you don’t have to be jealous.” To Sarah.

Talking about new projects- Sarah: It’s kind of like a TV version of Inception. She goes into people’s subconscious to help them.
Sarah also did an Amazon pilot called “Halfway House” where she plays a meth addict.

Amy says she’s afraid to talk about her new project.

Sarah closes the panel by acknowledging the support of fans and is thankful because they’re why they are where they are.

Thank you to starrymag

Eight rules for writing fiction:

1) Use the time of a total stranger in such a way that he or she will not feel the time was wasted.

2) Give the reader at least one character he or she can root for.

3) Every character should want something, even if it is only a glass of water.

4) Every sentence must do one of two things — reveal character or advance the action.

5) Start as close to the end as possible.

6) Be a sadist. Now matter how sweet and innocent your leading characters, make awful things happen to them — in order that the reader may see what they are made of.

7) Write to please just one person. If you open a window and make love to the world, so to speak, your story will get pneumonia.

8) Give your readers as much information as possible as soon as possible. To heck with suspense. Readers should have such complete understanding of what is going on, where and why, that they could finish the story themselves, should cockroaches eat the last few pages.

Scorpio: Why Does Everything Always Happen So Much

Whenever a Scorpio feels something, anything, it hurts.

Think of the strange, compelling, almost-frightening pleasure-pain of sex. It hurts, but it’s good, but it’s too much. You want it to stop. You never want it to end. You feel like it could kill you; you think you might die without it.

Dramatic? Yes.

But it’s not an exaggeration.

That’s what emotion is to a Scorpio. It’s choking, burning, drowning everything. Happiness, sorrow, love, anger, fear- it’s always Too Fucking Much. Life, for a Scorpio who as not yet learned to control emotions, is an intense, interesting sort of hell.

Cancer is so weak that a gentle breeze might as well be a hurricane. Pisces actively seeks out or creates excessive emotions to deal with boredom.

Scorpio is a different story. This is a sign that can know, accept, and even embrace powerful emotions, despite being strong and without actively seeking such experiences.

This is the root of Scorpio’s secrecy: they don’t want anyone else to know how much every little thing, good or bad, hurts. They’re frightened by how intensely they can focus, how long they can obsess, how deeply they feel. If you knew, you’d be frightened too.

They feel too much, and they also see everything.

Say a wife is cheating on her husband, has been for some time, but no one, including the husband, notices. An evolved Scorpio can see, with a single glance, exactly what is happening and why. A mature Scorpio knows that it’s best to let them figure it out themselves.

It can take people years to see what is painfully obvious to a Scorpio in an instant, which is another reason Scorpios prefer to keep quiet: they’re afraid they’re wrong. They feel like they’re crazy for seeing what no one else can. Even if they speak out and are right, people may deny the truth and stick to more comfortable lies.

So… There you have it.

For Scorpios, Everything Always Happens So Much and it is Literally The Fucking Worst. Please try to understand.

[also applies to pluto dominants; can apply to anyone with significant scorpio energy in the natal chart; does not necessarily apply to all scorpios, because a good number shut that part of themselves away and refuse to/can’t access it.]

Creating Likeable Characters

Sometimes it’s difficult to make your characters likeable as they are tested and are pushed to further and further lengths. Sometimes they have to make hard decisions, and sometimes the pressure gets to them and they mess up, hurt another character or an innocent bystander. How can you keep them likeable throughout the whole plotline?

- Keep their motivations pure.
It almost always comes back to the heart – if their heart is pure, and that’s established early-on, the audience is more likely to root for them.

- Give them flaws – make them human.
Not every character has to have some huge problem, like an addiction or a traumatic past or a disability – if your entire cast does, it’s no problem, but it’s not necessary. But every character has to have some flaw(s), whether it’s cheating at card games because he can’t stand to lose or being too-closed minded or closing off when she gets too emotional. If your character doesn’t have a flaw, they start to come off as too perfect, too angelic, pretentious.

- Give them permission to mess up.
This ties in with flaws – if your character is inclined to make a bad decision at any point in the plot, don’t steer him away from it because “oh no he’s my protagonist and he must be Good and Whole and Pure and All-Knowing”. Let him walk into that ambush despite the sick feeling in his stomach and get half his army killed; let her rush into a confrontation with a bully and get into a fight with another girl who has a switchblade. Let your characters mess up – it shows that they’re human.

- But if your character messes up, let them own up to it eventually.
The general who killed half his army by ignoring the unease in the back of his mind might cry over their makeshift graves long after the rest of the platoon is asleep; the girl sitting in the infirmary might feel remorse for knocking her opponent’s block off. Or your characters might argue and might be stubborn and might not apologize for weeks. But let them apologize eventually. This goes back to the heart, and what the character knows is right.

- Relationships with other characters are vital.
That’s not to say a loner character can’t be likeable – but the audience’s perception of a loner character is determined by the thoughts/words of other characters. Characters all color each other and define parts of each other, just like people do to each other in real life. If your character is a jerk to other characters and other characters don’t like him (especially if the characters who dislike him are likeable), the audience won’t like him either. The character’s image depends not just on himself, but on his supporting cast.

Hope this helps! - @authors-haven

How to save a succulent with no roots:

After beheading it and letting the cut callous, rest it on a container with a little water inside. Just a bit will do, and don’t let the succulent stem touch the water ! After a few days new roots will appear (very pale pink in the second and third photos) and you can pot it up with dry soil, and water it gently :)

I’ve found this works wonders on stubborn succulents, and I like to see fresh roots growing so I know they won’t rot when I water them.

Good Things to Research When You Don't Know What to Research

They don’t exactly teach this stuff in schools. This list is designed for the beginner witch, who keeps hearing the advice “Research!” but wants some better specifics on what exactly that means.

Now, you don’t have to be a complete expert on all of these or even most of these! You don’t even have to incorporate all of them into your practice. They’re just some stuff it’s good to have a basic working knowledge of in the Craft.

🌻Planetary Correspondences- Even if cosmic witchcraft isn’t your thing, a lot (and I mean a LOTTTT) of correspondences in any other category are going to eventually lead back to the planets. Having a basic understanding of what each planet governs is extremely helpful when learning the correspondences of basically anything else.

🌻Herb Correspondences- Herbs and spices are incredibly useful! They’re probably one of the most versatile of the “big categories” since they can be used in herbalism and kitchen witchery, as well as a great add-on to any other variation of witchcraft. It’s good to have a working knowledge of what herbs you can use in a pinch, especially the stuff you already have in your kitchen. When an emergency calls, it’s good to know how that chili powder can help you.

🌻Crystal Correspondences- This is another great add on! Crystals can often be used to enhance and focus the energy of a spell, as well as cleanse any ritual tools you have. Besides, who doesn’t like pretty rocks? Crystals can be particularly great for the witch who has a tactile mind, and likes to have things they can feel and roll around in their hand.

🌻Days of the Week- Knowing the right time to cast a spell can be very important! Casting a love spell on a Friday gives it an added boost, or at the very least creates a path of least resistance. Besides, there’s only seven of them, so it’s easy to learn quickly. You get a lot of bang for your buck!

🌻Phases of the Moon- We have a really big collective crush on the moon, it seems. And for good reason! The moon is a great source of power and mystery even in a completely mundane setting! Understanding the phases of the moon and how it can affect your craft is extremely important. (Hint: you can cast spells even when it isn’t the Full Moon.)

🌻Basic Mythology and Lore- This is an absolute must if you plan on going into any type of spirit work. Even if that isn’t your thing, it’s good to know a little bit. Firstly, because you may draw unwanted attention from spirits, and it’s good to know how to deal with them if it happens. Secondly, because if you draw from a path with any history behind it, it’s good to know how the rules go down on their turf.

🌻Basic Divination- Not everyone has the money or the time to pick up and learn how to read a 78-card Tarot deck, but things like scrying and pendulums are pretty easy to figure out quickly. What’s more, they can be done on little to no budget. Divination’s a useful tool to have on your utility belt, and who wants to pay someone to use a pendulum for them when you can learn it yourself?

🌻Anthropology of different cultures/religions- You don’t have to be a religious witch at all, but witchcraft still has its roots as a religious practice! Lot’s of practices have a cultural context as well, which can be important to know in order to fully understand the action you’re performing. A lot of correspondences, traditions, and rites come from cultural or religious roots. It’s good to know not only what people did, but why they did it! Does X tool have some symbolic meaning or was it just what was available at the time? What was simply a product of the culture around them?

🌻Science- It’s a HUGE category, and I left it that way on purpose. If something interests you, look at the mundane side of it as well! Do you like kitchen witchery? Read up on food chemistry and how different nutrients affect the brain. Into crystals? Learn about how they’re formed! Read about gardening or psychology, anything that can help enhance your path.

Happy researching!

Ecstatic Witchcraft

This is a post a long time in the making, as it is something I’ve wanted to share for a while now, just because it is such an important part of my own craft. There is something truly magical about it and is, for me, something both very humbling and very empowering; as such, it is something that I think is worth sharing.

Foremost, the question to address is: What is ecstatic witchcraft? And one not so easily answered, as there cannot be any one way in which it is performed. It can (I think) be described as a form of trance magic, though its expression is not wholly tied to trance in the traditional sense. In essence, it is a surrendering of self and its simultaneous expression. It is a temporary shedding of the façade one erects to survive, Freud called it the superego and without it, so too falls away the ego. The goal of ecstatic witchcraft – if it can be called a goal – is to allow the id to manifest unencumbered, a means of channeling the primality. Of course, this manifests in innumerable ways and no two sessions would ever be the same, hence why it can be so tricky to pin down precisely.

I’ve found that – and it continues still – that the witchcraft community (predominately) has long perpetuated the notion of control as being paramount to success, and while this may be true to some extent, I believe the converse must also be explored. There is law and there is rigidity, there is correspondence memorization and a lot of book work: and this makes sense! For the last century (and in times before), this has been the main means of information acquisition. While it is not uncommon for witches to join groups, covens, etc., I’m willing to bet that most practicing witches were indoctrinated through solitary study. Again, there is nothing wrong with this, and I, myself, am contributing to this reservoir of written information as I type! But, as I mentioned, while I did my fair share of book work and memorization, the heart of my Craft has always been exploration. Tradition is important, but it’s never been enough for me. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: the best way to learn is to do. There will be mistakes; you will come to conclusions only to find things that defy them; you will learn to correct; you will learn to be skeptical, but not judgmental. You will learn there are a thousand purported ‘right’ ways, and then you will find your own. Nothing is static.

How does this relate then, to ecstatic witchcraft? It is a means by which to connect to that instinct: that intuition that drives us – shedding preconceived notions and allowing the opportunity for exploration through action. And action, I feel, is the root of ecstatic magic.

How To Perform Ecstatic Witchcraft

As I mentioned previously, there is no right way and I can only provide to you a number of facets of expression that are conducive to ecstatic witchcraft. These are by no means the only facets, and as always, I encourage you to explore what works for you.

  • Speak – It may seem counterintuitive to what I have said, for is speech not a construct? It is, but there is power in vocalization, even if speaking unintelligibly. This is an extension of opaque language – or language spoken ceremonially as a means of excluding those who are not privy to the religious tongue – and moves into the realm of glossolalia. Rarely do I include verbal scripts to be read in the things I post, as I find that they detract from the working themselves, instead encouraging those performing to speak what comes. This is a more controlled form of ecstatic witchcraft – bound by intention, time, and often language itself. Here, let all that fall away and simply: Speak.
  • Move – Ecstatic witchcraft, for me, is all about energy: movement, especially. It is best not to go into it with any plan, simply follow where your body takes you. If it says run, run; if it says dance, dance; if it says squat and howl like a wolf, by gods do it! It is for this and many reasons that ecstatic magic should be done in a controlled setting, normally somewhere safe – but I should mention, this need not be done alone! Ecstatic witchcraft can just as easily be done in groups, though it can get a little more dangerous, considering the id is often noted as being the seat of sexuality and aggression. I also recommend putting sharp objects away – you never know what the hype might bring – but hey, sometimes you just really need to throw a knife; perform responsibly.
  • Draw/Write – Admittedly, some of my coolest and most profound sigils have come from ecstatic sessions! There is something in me that always wants to take chalk and just go to town on every surface around – overtaken by mania. Automatic writing is related, in some ways, though often it is used with intent: channeling a specific spirit, deity, etc. Ecstatic magic requires no such formalities, bending to the whims of all and none, the witch is then but an instrument of the spirit: of the cosmos.
  • Laugh – Laughter is powerful.
  • Instruments – If you have at your disposal some musical instruments (I prefer maracas and tambourines), bring them in! And forget what you think you know about music, just roll with it. Hell, if you want to continuously shake a maraca and scream with one foot in the air, do it. Again, it’s all about energy, and instruments bring their own, unique vibes to the table.

Entheogens – *at your own risk; use responsibly* Sure, they might compromise some of the safety, but they also bring an entirely new level of exploration. For some. My use of entheogens in the past have always been hit-or-miss; sometimes they are conducive and other times they are hampering. Know what works for you, and be careful: you don’t want to show up at the nearest E.R. naked, tripping on an unknown substance with a painted face and defiantly shaking a maraca.

Sex – This harkens back to what I said about working in groups, sometimes there is a power in it, and the same can be said for adding sex in. When working with others, always plan for the possibility of sex! Especially with who you invite in, and in regards to safety. I don’t know the last time it was used, but the “It was for ecstatic witchcraft” excuse will not hold up: while it may sound like a damper, J.I.C. consent agreements and activity do’s and don’t’s should always be agreed upon beforehand, and should always be open to amendment. If you really want to, draw a circle: anyone who leaves it is has removed themselves from the session and should not be addressed until they reenter of their own accord.

With that, I hope it is becoming clear what ecstatic witchcraft is (or can be), its benefits and how it isn’t really all that new a concept. It is, for me, a profound experience every time – I come out feeling energized, powerful, but also with a new frame of mind, having shed societal constriction and attuned with both the divine and animalistic parts of myself – if even for a moment. In that it is humbling, and it is empowering.

Why Phichit is my Favorite Character

In honor of reaching 500 followers, I decided it was about time I made a post that shows that this blog is actually what it sounds like. This is going to be a long ride full of incoherent rambling, so hold on tight. Yes I am listening to Shall We Skate and Terra Incognita on repeat while writing this

Lets start from the beginning. The first time we see Phichit, we see him for only a few seconds, where he only says one line of dialogue, ¨Yuuri!¨, which was preceded by a giggle. We don’t see him again for the rest of the episode, or the next. Or the next. There is nothing that you can glean from this character at first glance.

But that was the moment I fell in love with the character that is Phichit Chulanont.

See, It wasn’t his first official appearance that made me fall in love with him. The reason I liked this character so much was because I understood he was close to Yuuri and cared about him. Now, for those of you who don’t know, I became invested in Yuri!!! on ICE because of Yuuri and the premise + figure skating. Not victuuri, although that was wonderful because!!! Representation!!! I was just glad there was a main character I, and many others, could deeply relate to. But this post isn’t about Yuuri. Its about Phichit. And because I could see he cared for Yuuri, I got interested.

So I watched the scene again to figure out what I could. And here is what I was able to come up with.

He lives in Thailand, but has just arrived home after being somewhere else, or is leaving. More likely the former. He is cheerful, and invested somewhat in social media. He is close friends with Yuuri, or at least acquainted, and is likely a figure skater.

I looked him up after that, and my love only grew.

Also, we had this picture in the ending

God I love him

The next time we see Phichit, we see him in a video call with Yuuri in episode 4. His first appearances are all very Yuuri-centered.

But boy did this scene deliver a BIG LOAD of information.

I had been right about quite a few things from my first guesses about Phichit. He just arrived back in Thailand and likes social media, as seen by the literal touchscreen gloves and multiple IG posts. He is also very close with Yuuri. VERY CLOSE. I damn near cried over how comfortable and happy Yuuri became when he was talking with Phichit. And how comfortable PHICHIT looked when he was talking to Yuuri.

They had clearly been friends for a long time, Yuuri even knew phrases in Phichits native language, and I have no doubts that Phichit knows phrases in Japanese.

This sort of familiarity and calm interaction is something we only really see Yuuri take part in when he is with his family, +the Nishigori’s, at least at the beginning of the series.

When Yuuri starts talking about composer girl, Phichit is able to immediately understand what Yuuri needs without even having to hear Yuuri say it. That is the kind of friendship some can only dream of.

We already know Phichit is a wonderful, reliable friend from less than a minute of interaction. Less than a minute. I counted. I have seen dozens of shows where it takes multiple WHOLE EPISODES to understand the relationship between two characters, but with Yuri on Ice it takes less than a minute. This is a result of good writing and good, rounded characters.

Which leads to my next topic of discussion.

Phichit is such a well-rounded character holy shit

There are no lingering doubts about Phichit’s character. There isn’t a scene where you are left wondering, “Why did Phichit do this” or “What is Phichit thinking” because we know, at least in my case. As long as you understand Phichit as a character you can understand the motivations behind his actions.

Episode 6 is a beautiful Phichitfest and I was having a good ol’ time.

Now, for reference, episode 6 is when I really got into Yuri on Ice as a show. Characters I didn’t really like were starting to have more appeal, like Viktor, and characters I loved got better, somehow.

Bonus points for fashion goddamn

HE CALLS CELESTINO CIAO CIAO. CIAO CIAO. HE IS SO PRECIOUS

His constant need to document everything on social media is also much appreciated.

also this

Captain of the #victuuri ship honestly same Phichit

So,as I’m watching this episode I’m just waiting and thinking

when do i get to see Phichit skate?? when??

I find out Phichit skates first and Im !!!!

then he skates.

AND BOY DOES HE EVER FUCKING SKATE

Phichit steps out onto that rink in his princely attire and I am gone then and there.

Shall We Skate? is such a masterpiece and I LOVE IT

You can say what you want about Phichit, but if you cant see how much Phichit adores skating through his performance than you clearly haven’t watched the series.

I have a record of crying every time I watch Phichit skate when I watched the episodes he was in for the first time. Every time. This one is no exception.

The fact that the audience is shown to get very caught up in Phichit’s performance made me so happy? These people, who are all there to support the more popular skaters, are getting caught up in the dance of a skater who hadn’t even been on their radar.

JUST

LOOK AT HIM

HES SO PROUD!!

what a good friend fukc i love him

What I wouldn’t give to have a friend like Phichit

Ok.

Terra Incognita.

me too ciao ciao

This performance showed how much you can glean from a person while watching them skate. And yes. I cried.

Just.

His motivation for skating is so fucking clear.

He wants to make his country proud.

And he does.

The audience is rooting for Phichit, he gets the crowd hyped up and he delivers.

He worked his ass off for this performance and it pays off

He nails all of his components and scores higher than he ever has

He is so confident that hes won and he WINS

HE FUCKING WINS

HE BEATS YUURI AND CHRIS AND LEO ALL OF WHOM WERE MAJOR CONTENDERS FOR THE GRAND PRIX

HE WINS HIS FIRST GOLD MEDAL

AND AFTER THE ROSTELECOM CUP BECOMES THE FIRST THAI SKATER TO ADVANCE TO THE GRAND PRIX FINAL

HE??? IS SO GOOD

And that’s why it made me so mad when he lost the Grand Prix Final.

Sixth. Place.

I love the other skaters. I really do. But JJ did not deserve a bronze medal. He was way over scored and should have gotten last place. Phichit scored about as high as the previous years third place winner. JJ.

His Shall We Skate made me hella emotional and sob along with him at the end. He is SUCH A GOOD SKATER.

I never cried as hard during the entirety of YOI as I did during Phichit’s Terra Incognita performance. He was so happy to just be performing. Even after he messed up one jump he continued to smile.

That is what makes a performer.

Phichit entertains the audience. He holds their attention and gets them hyped up and on the edge of their seats.

He has fun while he skates and just genuinely loves his sport.

This gif sums it up pretty well

and I may be really salty about his loss but i am SO PROUD OF HIM

I am going to quote something I said when I first made this blog.

“Just by qualifying for the Grand Prix Finals, Phichit won. He may not have won a medal, but he achieved not only one of his dreams, skating “Shall We Skate” in a major competition, but also made history by becoming the first Thai skater to compete in the Grand Prix Finals. WE should all be extremely proud of him, and hopefully watch him continue to made his dreams reality in the next season!”

I stand by this statement fully and wholeheartedly. Yes, Phichit deserved to be placed higher, and yes, it was completely unfair. But lets be proud of what he did achieve, and appreciate him for the amazing character he is.

tldr; Phichit is a wonderful character and I love him. Thanks for 500 followers!

Hey so since dandelions are springing up everywhere I was wondering if is any magical way I could use em

Eat them! Drink them in tea! Don’t pick the flowers right away because they are great for bees!

I don’t have my correspondence book with me so I am doing this from the top of my head, so I may miss a few things. You can google “Dandelion magical correspondence” for probably a lot more thorough information. I just love dandelions, they are so useful. And great to have around other plants as well too!

Anyway, I am totally serious about eating them! The whole plant is edible! The leaves are great in salads, and are PACKED with Vitamin A and Vitamin K! If I remember correctly 1 cup of fresh dandelion leaves has 110% of your daily intake of Vitamin A, and over 500% daily recommended intake of Vitamin K? The flowers can be made into juice, tea, wine… toss them into your salad with the leaves for color… whatever you fancy! And the roots are the best part! You can make the roots into a substitute for coffee if thats your thing, or dry them out for tea! Did I mention how healthy they are for you? Yea?! Well.. they are also SUPER good for your kidney and liver, as it can help flush them (its a diuretic). Dandelion tea can also help clear skin issues like acne up because its flushing all those toxins and garbage out of your system.

Dandelion is pretty awesome right?!

Don’t worry, I am not done yet.

I mentioned a bit that its great for bees at the beginning, and it is! Its one of the first things that blooms in the spring that attracts bees and other pollinating insects to help the earth! On top of that, dandelions have a long taproot, which helps bring nutrients up to the top soil so that other shallow rooting plants have more nutrients. They help out their neighboring plants, by bringing up more minerals and nitrogen making everything else around them super happy! So don’t yank them up! They are there to help!

As far as correspondences for magical use goes, it can be used for luck and wish spells! You can also drink the leaves & flowers in tea to help increase psychic abilities. Its also good for cleansing and purifying and banishing negativity! Its naturally protective and healing (see how it helps its shallow rooted neighbors?!).

I also want to add: make sure you are looking at a dandelion! There are lot of plants that are very similar to a dandelion, so make sure you are identifying properly, because the others that look like it aren’t always safe to eat! Also if you are on any medications check with your doctor before adding dandelion to your diet as it is a diuretic!

Ok that was a lot of information. I went a little crazy. Dandelions are just cool plants.

How U.S. Health Care Became Big Business

Health care is a trillion-dollar industry in America, but are we getting what we pay for? Journalist Dr. Elisabeth Rosenthal warns that the existing system too often focuses on financial incentives over health or science.

“We’ve trusted a lot of our health care to for-profit businesses and it’s their job, frankly, to make profit,” Rosenthal says. “You can’ t expect them to act like Mother Teresas.”

Rosenthal’s new book, An American Sickness, examines the deeply rooted problems of the existing health-care system and also offers suggestions for a way forward. She notes that under the current system, it’s far more lucrative to provide a lifetime of treatments instead of a cure.

“One expert in the book joked to me … that if we relied on the current medical market to deal with polio, we would never have a polio vaccine,” Rosenthal says. “Instead we would have iron lungs in seven colors with iPhone apps."

Magic Stiles/Emissary Stiles Sterek Fics (by request)

1. There Are Monsters At Home by calrissian18

“How did you get past the wards?” Derek had put them up, with Peter’s grudging assistance, after the Alpha pack had made themselves at home a few times too many.

The guy pulled a face. “You mean the wards a five-year-old girl with the mental ability of a goldfish could deconstruct?” He blinked wide eyes at Derek. “Gee, I don’t know. It’s bound to go down as one of life’s great mysteries.”

Derek despised him.

2. Strut on a Line, it’s Discord and Rhyme by xiaq

“Carry me,” Stiles says.

“No.”

“But I’m injured.”

“You have a rash,” Derek says. “On your arm. Your feet work just fine.”

“Please?”

“No. You weigh almost as much as I do. And you ate a pound of chicken at lunch.”

“Well, yeah, but I pooped like an hour ago, so.”

“You’re disgusting.”

“Don’t play, you love me.”

I do, Derek thinks, relatively horrified. I really do.

3. If the ley lines you should follow by InTheArmsofaThief

And Derek just stood there, staring at Stiles like he was a ghost.

“Dude, I know it’s been a while but you don’t have to look at me like you’re that surprised I’m hung over in the woods. It’s practically a tradition at this point.”

“Stiles?” Derek whispered, the name falling from his lips like a punch to the gut. Stiles watched, confused, as Derek took a deep breath in and took a shaky step forward then back again. “You’re not- you can’t be. Who are you?”

4. A Little Lost by exclamation

A magical accident sends Stiles back in time. Now he’s stuck in New York, living with Derek and Laura, and the only way to get back to his own time is to learn to use magic. Meanwhile, he must figure out how much he can tell them about their future. Can he warn them about the dangers they face? Can he change his own past?

And can he trust the creature known as Bookworm, who seems to know him better than he knows himself?

5. sanctuary where i stand by ceserabeau

"We’re happy to have you, Stiles,” Laura says, and nudges Derek hard, “Aren’t we?”
“Of course,” Derek says through gritted teeth.
When he looks at Stiles, the kid has a smug grin on his face. What a little shit.

AU where Stiles is sent to the Hale pack to be their emissary.

Grounding, a quick how-to

i like to think of grounding as the magical equivalent of a jogger stretching their legs before and after a run. it focuses you and gets you ready to get stuff done. grounding is the process of ridding yourself of negative/stale/stagnant energies, and pulling in new, fresh, powerful energies, and connecting with the energies around us.

here is a short list of ways/options of how to do it.

physically

literally shake it out. stretch, crack your knuckles, etc. breathe, roll your neck around, clench your fists and  then stretch them wide open.

visualization / the tree method

imagine tree roots growing out of your feet and into the ground, and branches growing out of your arms/head into the sky. pull energy into yourself through the roots/branches

others

you can invent your own ways to ground. as long as it involves pulling energy into you (from whatever source, it doesn’t just have to be the earth) and connecting with the sources around you.

yoongi; let’s talk about it over dinner

❝yoongi had been excited to finally join you for dinner but let’s just say, apart from the great smell of home, it’s a bit overwhelming (literally)
►1373 words // scenario
♡ bc i’m seeing all these pics of yoongi with @kookingramyun and this boi is getting slimmer and slimmer so i just wanted to write this out o.k
p.s. in no way am i saying this is how things are but, i wanted to write a little something that’s fluffy and not to be taken seriously

Yoongi had been more than just excited when he’s granted a leave with the rest of the boys because you’ve been working your asses off, go home. So said boy jumps on his phone and texts you in a rushed sentence, filled with typos that autocorrect helps him and a smile stretched across his face to the point his cheekbones would kill him because it’s starting to hurt but no. Yoongi was feeling some type of way, too high up in the clouds to float down that he remains having this curve on his face, some special force keeping his lips tugged upwards.

Oh, but then Yoongi comes home to… a banquet than what he had hoped for the moment he read the text ‘come home for dinner’ as a reply to his ‘BUY A DAMNED LOTTERY TICKET, Y/N. I’M FREE FOR THE NIGHT’. Of course, he had pictured something a little fancy since it’s been a while he had your cooking (passing up Seokjin’s and bidding yours to be the best after his mother’s, shh, never tell Seokjin that) but this… this is some next level shit.

“…are we feeding everyone in the building?”

But you don't know Benedict.

Ah, now this is a topic I’ve been lucky enough to discuss with some dear mutuals over the years, so let me see if I can do an answer justice.

Of course, we can never know the man, not truly; that is only for the very lucky few that are a part of his life, his world.  But there is so much we can deduce of him, based upon his work, his words, his public deeds and behavior.

If you look at his work alone, you see incredible natural talent that he has refined through dedication & physical and mental discipline; you see a love of the written & spoken word; and most especially you see a keen & compassionate understanding of the human condition–for how else could he bring such breathtaking truth to all of his characters?  Even the wicked ones, like Khan & Richard III–he makes us feel that even they have reasons for the things they do, often rooted in emotional/psychological pain.  Though the evil they do is no less evil, we can sympathize to some degree, with what brought them to that place.  In my lifetime I have seen no player more truly & more lovingly—in Shakespeare’s words—hold the mirror up to nature.

In interviews & public appearances, you find a humble, self-effacing man, a bright wit, & sense of humor generous enough to make himself as likely a target of jesting as anyone or anything else.  He values home, hearth, family, the environment, although he could easily give over to hedonism on his bank account. How many times do we see him wearing the same clothes, carrying that same blue water bottle on set, even brown bagging his lunches at times?Choices, I’m sure, that reflect his commitment to simplicity and to reduce his carbon footprint. Benedict’s charitable works have been well-recorded on this site, so I’m not going to research it, but when I run across a post about it, I’ll be sure to reblog for info’s sake.

I won’t speak at length about his personal relationships, except to say that’s a man who loves his wife thoroughly. It would frankly break my heart to learn he had the same feet of clay of so many other public figures & celebrities in this regard—what I see tells me he and Sophie have the real thing. And that he guards his little family’s privacy so jealously is further testament to that.

In short, (though this runs long) I trust my eyes & ears, and they tell me to trust in the public image that is clearly on view.  I see a man who gives as much positive energy to the world as he can, and embraces life with complete joie de vivre.  And as I believe in the human soul, I see a most spectacular one that shines luminously, not only enhancing his unique physical beauty, but reminding me that true good is possible in a world that is often quite selfish & mean.

I could probably go on with dozens of more examples, but let me just finish with one of my favorite photos of him, which for me reflects (I hope) a bit of what I’ve written here.

Thank you for your ask–it was a delight to answer! ❤❤❤
