I showed my invitation to the enormous bouncer who was standing in front of the immense house of the Beckham family. The man nodded and let me in with a straight face. You could hear the loud music outside and now that I was standing inside I was already being deaf. I looked around and some maid-servant came toward me with a tired smile on her face.

“Let me take your coat, miss,” she mumbled tiredly, trying make herself audible above the loud music. She had her arm stuck in front of her, ready to take my coat.

I smiled and shook my head. “No, thanks. I know it here, I can bring it to the closet myself.”

“No, miss. It’s my job for tonight, let me take it,” the girl smiled.

I smiled back and grabbed my purse out of the pocket of my jacket to give the girl some tip. Yeah, having rich parents can be in my profit sometimes. The girl smiled grateful to me before she took my jacket and and I walked to the reception-room. I looked around, looking for some familiar faces. Unfortunately I didn’t found any and I headed to the bar to get myself a drink.

“Can I have one Sprite, please?” I yelled above the music. The bartender nodded friendly at me and sent me a gesture that he was going to get me the drink and not much later I looked around, sipping from my Sprite. I took the cold glass in one hand while holding my phone in the other. I decided to walk around, looking for the birthday boy.

“Hey, (Y/N)!” A friend of Brooklyn and mine appeared next to me and I smiled at him.

“Hey,” I smiled back.

“You’re looking for Brooklyn, aren’t you?” he grinned. I rolled my eyes and nodded while I was still laughing at him. “Lucky you, he’s right over there.” Kyle pointed at the DJ set and I saw Brooklyn looking at the DJ with a fascinated look on his face. Cute.

“Thanks, Kyle,” I thanked the guy. He nodded and walked a bit with me until he got stopped by some other friends himself.

I creeped carefully along the DJ set and stood silently behind Brooklyn. I dropped my Sprite somewhere on a table and had my phone stuck in my jean pocket so I had both of my hands free. I put my hands before his eyes and grinned while I giggled in his ear,

“Guess who.”

I let my gaze slide over his face from the side and saw him grinning.

“Jordan?”

The bright smile on my face faded away and I let my hands drop.

Brooklyn turned around and looked at me with sparkling eyes. “Just kidding. Of course I knew it was you.” He pulled me in a hug and I hugged him back.

“Happy birthday, Beckham Boy,” I laughed, knowing he hated the nickname I created for him a few years ago.

“Thanks, London Girl.” He gave me a soft push against my shoulder and leaned with his hands against the table behind him.

“But now about Jordan,” I began.

A loud laugh left my best friend’s mouth. “There’s nothing about Jordan. Like I said, I knew it was you. I was joking.”

“Sure.” I rolled fake annoyed with my eyes and crossed my arms insubordinately.

“I mean it, (Y/N).” Though there was something in his eyes that told me he was hiding something from me.

“Brooks!”

A familiar voice was giggling and I clenched my jaw in annoyance while I sent Brooklyn a meaningful look. ‘Seriously,’ I mimed.

He bit his lip, looking guilty. He shrugged and gave Jordan a hug.

“(Y/N).” Jordan looked at me from head to toe with a pretentious look and then smiled at me with the fakest smile I’ve ever seen.

“Jordan,” I groaned, not attempting to smile back at her.

Brooklyn looked awkwardly at us before his girlfriend poured herself on him and kissed him roughly on his lips.

“I can’t wait for you to open my present!” Jordan coed. “You’re gonna love it.” She sent me a mean look. I just rolled my eyes in response.

“I’m gonna go for a walk, if you don’t mind,” I said to Brooklyn. He gave me a guilty look again, but I smiled it away.

“Yeah, we don’t mind, do we?” Jordan grinned.

I inhaled deeply to hold myself back from attacking the girl and turned around.

“Hey!“

For the second time tonight, someone held me up.

“Dinah!” I hugged the girl firmly. “How are you? We haven’t talked for years!”

“Oh please,” laughed Dinah, “we spoke to each other a few months ago. And I’m fine. How are you?”

“I’m okay, I guess,” I smiled weakly.

“Come, we’re gonna get a drink.” Dinah pulled me out of the crowed of dancing people toward the bar. We settled ourselves down on the bar stools and asked for a drink.

“So, how are you and Brooklyn?”

I raised an eyebrow and took a sip of my soda. “Dinah, you know Brooklyn and I aren’t a thing, right?”

Dinah just shrugged. “I don’t care, I ship you two and I know once you’ll be the item. Now, tell me.”

“He’s still with Jordan.” I rolled my eyes indifferently and looked at my nails, bored.

“Seriously,” Dinah mumbled.

“Can everyone be silent for a moment?” the DJ spoke through a microphone. I looked at Dinah and she shrugged again. “Brooklyn Beckham, come here, please.” Brooklyn stepped on the podium and everybody instantly began clapping and cheering. “Let’s sing him a nice birthday song, guys!” Everybody began singing ‘Happy Birthday, Brooklyn’ to him and Brooklyn just looked around with a listless smile on his face.

“What’s wrong with him?” Dinah yelled in my ear.

I shrugged. “I don’t know.”

Brooklyn stepped off the podium after thanking everybody for the great night and gifts and I lost him out of my sight. Dinah and I continued our conversation and nothing special happened.

#

“There you are!” Two strong arms were wrapped around my waist and a kiss was pressed against my cheek.

I was surprised by the gesture and turned around. I could already guess who it was by the look on Dinah’s face.

“Hey,” I chuckled, still confused by Brooklyn’s action. “Still enjoying the party?”

He shrugged his shoulders somewhat sheepishly. “Yeah, kinda.”

“What do you mean, ‘kinda’.”

“I broke up with Jordan,” he spoke in my ear. He had to raise his voice to make himself more audible for me to hear, though he was still inaudible for Dinah.

He shrugged sheepishly. “Yeah, kinda.”

“What, why?” I asked, surprised again. Though I didn’t like Jordan, I adjudged him all the luck in the world and if he thought Jordan could give him that luck, I supported him.

He shrugged again. “I just don’t love her,” he answered lightly, “I don’t think I ever did.”

I raised my eyebrows at him. “Wow, that’s kinda random, but okay. What makes you think that?”

“You,” Brooklyn grinned. I raised my eyebrows again, but before I could say anything he had his lips pressed against mine.

“Brooklyn,” I said, surprised again. I looked next to me and saw Dinah grinning surprisingly.

‘Told ya so,’ mimed the girl.

I rolled my eyes at her and established myself back to Brooklyn.

“Wanna be my girlfriend?” He looked at me, kinda unsure.

“Isn’t this somewhat early? You just broke up with Jordan,” I answered.

He shut his eyes down. “Yeah, I guess so.” He wanted to turn around but I pulled him back on his arm.

“No, it’s not that I don’t want to be your girlfriend, but I just think that it’s a little too early for that. You just broke up with your ex.”

“Yeah, you’re probably right.” He turned around again and walked away. I jumped off the bar stool and pulled him toward me again, this time to press my lips against his.

“Yes,” I grinned. Brooklyn looked at me with a confused expression on his face. “Yes, I want to be your girlfriend.”

A big smirk appeared on his face and he wrapped his arms around my waist. “Finally.“

I woke up to my phone ringing. I was even more confused when I saw who was calling me. It was my ex Brooklyn. We could never see each other so we decided to break up but here he was almost a month later calling me.

“Hello?” I answered.

“Hey, (y/n)” Brooklyn said,“ I’m sorry to bug you, but Harper really misses you and wants to know if you’ll come see her today.”

“Awe, tell Harper I miss her too and I’ll see what I can do.”

“Alright thanks a lot.”

I hung up with him and rolled over in bed. I loved Harper, she was adorable and actually how I met Brookyln. Her parents needed a sitter one day because Brooklyn was leaving too and I had ran into him on his way out.

I looked at the time, almost eleven. I decided to get up and get ready. By 12:30 I was on my way to the Beckham house.

As I pulled in I saw the curtain pull back revealing a little Harper and then her disappearing. By the time I was getting out of my car she had ran out the front door to me with Brooklyn standing in the door way. I picked her up when she got to me.

“(Y/n!)” Harper called excitedly. “I miss you so much.” She hugged my neck tightly.

“I missed my little angel.” I said as i started to walk towards the house. “Hey Brooklyn.”

“Morning (y/n)” he said following us back inside.

At some point during the day Harper disappeared leaving us alone. At first there was awkward silence but soon we got back into the hang of things.

“Can I be honest for a second ?” He suddenly asked.

The words that came out of his mouth kind of worried me but I nodded so he would continue.

“I miss you so much. I want you back. I’ll make it work this time. we’ll hang out at least once every week.” He babbled on.

“Sh, Brooklyn! Breathe…” I waited until he took a breath and stopped talking. “I’d love to give us another chance.”

Before he could even open his mouth to talk Harper was back in the room clapping. “yay!! I missed brother talking to you!”

Both of us laughed, “Harper was this your plan the whole time?” I asked.

She clasped her hands behind her back and swayed. “Maybeeee” she said in a sing-songy voice.

“Well thank you,” Brooklyn said holding his arms open for a hug. Instead though she ran to hug me.
