Authors are subject to error. They may ruin their own creation. Though what Bryke did with LOK is a big example what they did with TLA is also there. But another prime example is Ai No Kusabi author/mangaka Rieko Yoshihara. Yoshihara’s appeal came from the fact that she wrote and connected a very dystopian setting yaoi. And she showed the complications, abusive and raping nature in a relationship between Iason and Riki. She thwarts it later on. But it can only happen when Riki is essentially no longer a “pet” but Riki only starts liking Iason when he realises Iason will not be some stone-deity on a throne but will descend for him and not condescend and erase him anymore. And it turns to love only at the end when Iason protises Guy because Riki respects and loves Guy, who was his ex lover. But in the new novel rewrites Yoshihara obviously tried to only appeal to the seme/uke bullshit that the fans had catered too. In this respect I will say that Miki Aihara did it better allowing another mangaka to rewrite and bring an alternative ending to her stupid ass abusive manga Hot Gimmick with Hot Gimmick S. So, yeah, there is always that. I also think like LOK KS stans Ai no Kusabi Iason stans are pretty much the same. Iason is a jerk ass, untalented, uncreative rapist prick until he realises that he is a genetic freak and should become human. But everyone wants him to “tame Riki” – you know what I loved about Ai No Kusabi OVA remake, that wasn’t continued? It showed how Riki is a depressed person after being SEXUALLY ABUSED yes SEXUALLY ABUSED AND RAPED by Iason. Iason, like any abuser, doesn’t want to admit it. But you can see that his humanity, when it awakens, he is bothered by it. It is hard to write about that so Yoshihara didn’t. But Iason later on tries to make up for it. Probably, he knows he fully can’t and if Yoshihara dared to write it you could see him be like Riki scared and unsure why he was so mean and cruel to someone he was falling in love with. But yes this shows that every author, as a human, has problems in writing. Even fanfic writers like myself can suck and get stuff wrong.
