10 years you’d been stuck as a useless bloodletting knife, 10 years you’d been unable to roam about the castle grounds exploring the many crooks and crannies, and finally, those 10 years were up, thanks so a rather beautiful young lady named Belle.

Lena had never met her dad.

It was a plain fact. Her mother had told her he’d had to go on some sort of trip, and that he hadn’t come back.

She’d seen a picture of him, of course. She’d memorised every detail of it.

Though she swore she saw him that night. The night her mother had reportedly died in a car crash. They’d never been close, so Lena didn’t really know what to feel.

Her dad, though - she’d always wanted to meet him. Just because he was a complete mystery to her - mom had always said he was nice, but he never thought about things he was about to do.

But she saw him. She swore she saw him. And she woke up in the middle of the night to a map and a lot - and it really was a lot - of money to help her get by. No note or anything, but a map with a route stencilled in glowing ink to a circled location in the wilderness with no name.

He had to have left that for her, right?

She had to go. What if that place on the map was where he was? Where he’d been hiding for the 15-and-364-days of her life?

She’d be 16 by the time she’d arrive. It was an odd thought, one that sent a shiver down her spine.

And so, she started her journey. And it took her a hell of a long time to arrive. She wasn’t even sure if this was the place, but something kept telling her this was what she’d been looking for. She was just anxious as hell about entering the thick forest.

Well, only one way to find out.

It took her several hours to fight her way through the forest, and she squinted against the light as she came out into a clearing. It was certainly more inviting than most clearings she’d seen in her life - there were houses! Though she probably didn’t quite look as nice herself. Her clothes were torn from the long trek (so many bloody thorns) and she was covered in dirt from falling over a few times.

But still. She hoped to find her dad here, and if not - she hoped that this was where he’d wanted to send her.
