Human-animal hybrids – called “chimeras” – are an ethical problem for the scientific community. Thousands of articles debating the ethics of chimera research appear under Google scholar, using only the free and public medical file search. It is unfathomable how many more debates on its ethical implication might take place in private within the scientific community.
Petition the United States government to restrict and/or ban human-chimera research due to it being unethical, unnecessary, and contrary to the rights given to human life under the Bill of Rights in the constitution, and a violation of human dignity by signing the petition and passing it on.
By signing this petition, you are agreeing to several things:
1. That chimera research and creation has a grave potential to be highly unethical and should be subject to government investigation, if not permanently stopped.
2. That the stated primary needs met by chimera research and creation – organ donation – is closer to being met by 3D printing than by chimera research and creation (CR&C), and therefore CR&C is not a necessary service.
3. That harvesting organs out of “animals” is an unethical principle at the cost of appropriate animal husbandry and even scientific treatment of animals as test subjects.
4. That chimera research and creation violates the essential principle of human dignity that the founding fathers of the America Republic recognized as objective found in human beings, and further conformed to by subsequent leaders of our nation - leaders like Washington and Lincoln, the latter being someone who brought the concept of human dignity to one of the most oppressed group of people in American history.
5. That all chimera research and creation ought to be brought to an immediate halt by the US Government until its ethicality and necessity for the greater good of the human race are both either guaranteed or dismissed. By allowing it to continue unregulated and unreported on, the U.S. Government as a body is potentially allowing abuse of human lives.
Please sign the petition and pass it on. Contact your representatives.

The philosophy behind chimera research has disastrous implications for all peoples, especially marginalized groups.
mark’s video was very disappointing. i understand the initial knee-jerk reaction to defend and stand with your friends, but when your friend fucks up that bad, there’s no shame in calling them out on it. i think mark is blinded by the larger reality of what felix did because it hits so close to home. if it were some random, unknown youtuber who had done the same thing, mark probably wouldn’t be making a video about “respecting others” in defense of their actions.
and about my last tweet–i really hope this starts a movement of people checking themselves when it comes to what they say, especially on a public forum. “freedom of speech” does not translate to “freedom to harm others with your speech.” this culture of “shock humor,” of using hateful speech just to get a reaction, has to stop. that is how we can show respect to others. that is how we will move forward as a species.
@This is the first fic I have ever written.Feedback is SUPER welcome. If people enjoy this, I’ll write a part 2.
I chose the Valentine’s Day prompt from flames-bring-a-ton-of-ash’s 2k Writing Challenge. I did pick the prompt as @asshatry but I’m posting it here on my new side blog.
I want to give a BIG THANK YOU to @my-achilles–heel for not only editing this, but for making me feel so welcome in the thirst squad. <3 You’re the best.

Synopsis: Negan wants to make her his next wife. She’s always turned him down, but now it’s Valentine’s Day and that man can be persistent….
I woke up that morning already in a bad mood. Maybe I had slept funny or was tossing and turning again. I wasn’t really sure. I kicked my legs over the edge of the bed and stretched, hoping the movement of my muscles would cause an overall feeling of relaxation. It did, but the feeling subsided way too quickly and I cursed softly under my breath. It was going to be a long day.
Then I remembered what day it was.
The dreaded, lovey-dovey holiday for all the romantic couples looking to rub it in everyone’s faces that their love is pure and strong. Bleh.
Somehow there was a silver lining to the dead coming back to life because the heart shaped candies and roses were a thing of the past. Now, holidays were a little more toned down, and I kind of preferred that.
I had been living at The Sanctuary for only a few weeks and before that, I hadn’t even known what day it was. Little things like that didn’t matter when it came to survival. But here, in this world…in his world, I could embrace those little things again. The date. The time. Being safe was a luxury that allowed attention to detail.
But there was a reason I was dreading today, and his name was Negan.
Once engaged, and later married, Jack starts unconsciously using his wedding ring as a comfort item. If he’s anxious or stressed he no longer clenches his fists, instead he folds his thumb to run over the smooth band on his ring finger while he takes deep breaths.
I sort of like the idea that General Organa, General Solo and Lieutenant-Commander Skywalker emerged from the war without anything except chests full of medals, the Falcon, a baby, and about 700 credits between the three of them.
I mean, we don’t know what their salary was with the Rebellion, but it probably wasn’t much—the Rebellion as a whole was pretty shit-poor, their tech was outdated astromechs and their x-wings consistently outflown by a jury-rigged piece of junk
historical artifact. The primary defense strategy for their bases seems to have been “don’t be found” and “running away very quickly once found.” They’re a militia more than a military, operating on what is obviously a very limited budget. Which means that they’re probably paying their pilots and soldiers next to nothing—they’re relying on genuine revolutionary feeling to flip people, not the benefits package.
And then after the war is over, the New Republic is happy to mint medals, but they’re not about to start handing out fortunes. Maybe some of the reclaimed Imperial wealth goes towards pensions for the Rebel soldiers, but the Republic needs most of that money for rebuilding. Whatever the trio earned during the war, that’s what they’re walking away with.
What about Alderaan? Well, Alderaan isn’t there anymore. Neither are its banks. And the Bank of the Empire dissolved the insurance policies without beneficiary, given that the policies as stated don’t cover “total obliteration by enormous laser.” (We regret to inform you that all transactions carried out under previous political regimes are final—) There’s no wealth of Alderaan for Leia to inherit.
So there’s just Lando, who probably has a portfolio like the pragmatic businessman who managed Cloud City for the past decade, and maybe can lend them a little money. Leia has friends in high places who don’t mind letting her stay at their summer home on Naboo or their suite on Chandrila. But favors once used up are gone forever, and the Senate hasn’t gotten around to deciding what salaries will be yet, so she’s taking care of a newborn on whatever credits Han can win through illegal ship racing and sabacc, waiting for Luke to comm from whatever freighter has agreed to take him on in exchange for labor—
….all this to say which is that as much as I love the idea of Leia being the consummate high-class politician in the wake of the war, she and Han and newborn Ben were probably all crowded into the Falcon eating protein packs over rice while Luke hitchhiked through the galaxy looking for Jedi artifacts.

i just watched that emma watson buzzfeed interview and reading the comments makes me so uncomfortable. disregarding the ones aimlessly shitting on feminism, so many people are saying stuff along the lines of her being the only “logical”/”intelligent/”classy” feminist and i just????? nothing she has said or done is new???? it’s nothing other women haven’t been saying forever so why do we treat her as some goddess of feminism when hers has been incredibly problematic at times as well? (e.g. un speech where she “formally invited” men to the conversation and acted as if a) they are some necessity to the movement and b) don’t participate in the conversation simply because they haven’t been asked to when in reality it’s because the patriarchy massively benefits them and they don’t actually want to dismantle it)
her heart is in a good place and she is working on it so i genuinely do appreciate what she’s trying to do but let’s not pretend she’s some kind of revolutionary. instead of treating her like some all knowing feminist hero, we should critique especially since her platform is so huge and consequently can be really harmful
