hope you don't disappoint me this year

Love Love Lamento Gakuen Translation

In light of the recently released english patch for Lamento, there’s been a renewed interest in the translation I made a couple of years ago of the drama CD “Love Love Lamento Gakuen”.

To make it easier for the new fans (and the old ones too) to locate all the translated tracks in the right order, I decided to compile them all into one single post.

Be aware, before diving headfirst into it, that there are major spoilers for the game in the CD, so if you haven’t played Lamento yet and don’t want to have all the surprises ruined for you, you should probably not listen to the tracks until you do.

Also, this was translated from spanish. There are probably many mistakes and no doubt a lot was lost in translation. It is right-ish and it’s understandable enough, but it is not, in any way, a perfect translation since I am not a native speaker of spanish or japanese (not even english, for that matter).

Well, now that you’ve all been warned, here are the tracks:

I hope you enjoy this drama CD as much I have! Have fun! (ノ´ヮ´)ノ*:・゚✧

Iwaizumi wasn’t straight.

Oikawa’s head was spinning endlessly, running scenarios, reading over the same lines time and time again.

I’m bisexual.’

He’d said it so easily, so freely– Oikawa was almost mad. It had taken him years of subtle hints and disappointed girlfriends before he could let Iwaizumi know he was gay.

Above all, though, Oikawa was hopeful.

This meant he had a chance.

***

Okay, yes, Iwaizumi was bi.

Iwaizumi also went and got himself a Girlfriend, but that was just a small step-back. Oikawa knew they were meant to be together– he could feel it, deep within his soul, echoing endlessly in his mind.

He just had to wait for Iwaizumi to catch on.

***

The months pass– graduation was mucky and emotional and confusing– but Iwaizumi and Girlfriend were still together. Oikawa was almost angry now– couldn’t he see? Isn’t it obvious?

Apparently, it wasn’t.

Apparently, Oikawa had been holding in too much emotion for too long.

Apparently, time didn’t stop when he was crying into Hanamaki’s shoulder at three in the morning that ‘I love him so much’ and ‘why isn’t this working’ and ‘I don’t want to leave’.

Time went on.

***

Iwaizumi and Girlfriend– Fiance, now– were getting married.

Oikawa didn’t care.

(Okay, yes, he cared– but he wasn’t invited to the wedding, and therefore his care went unnoticed. Who stays in touch with their high school friends, anyways? It doesn’t matter if you’d known one another for over a decade!)

Fiance was stunning. Oikawa stared blankly through his laptop screen, his eyes focused on how Iwaizumi’s arm was strong around her shoulders, how radiant their smiles were, and how amazing they looked together.

A couple of months later, they were married. A couple more after that, Wife announced that she was pregnant.

Time went on, but not for Oikawa.

***

Oikawa sucked in a deep, filling breath, the kind that makes your lungs ache afterwards. His eyes flickered down to his phone, where Iwaizumi’s contact was pulled up. He’d managed to wrangle current info out of Hanamaki, who was still in touch with him, somehow.

The divorce.

The divorce was why Oikawa considering calling.

Slowly, he tapped the screen a few times and lifted it to his ear. His hands were shaking– his cigarette fell to the ground.

Hi, you’ve reached Iwaizumi Hajime. Leave me a message and I’ll get back to you when I can.”

Beeeep.

“Hey, Iwa-chan. I, uh…
Shit.
I figured you could use someone to talk to.
I’m really sorry.
I hope you and your son are doing well.
I…
I miss you.”

If you are satisfied with your message, hang up, or dial 9 for more options.

Oikawa hesitated, his eyes watering, before hanging up.

A group of four boys walked by a little ways away, led by a tall, handsome boy of about eighteen. You could see his crown, even though it wasn’t there.

Oikawa smiled grimly. The ironic Gary King-esque of the situation merely caused him more pain.

God, he was so old. How the hell had he managed to crawl into his thirties already?

The group passed. Oikawa let out a heavy breath.

His phone began to ring.

With no trace of reluctance, Oikawa answered it.

“Hello?”

… It’s about time, Shittykawa.”
