hope for animals and their worlds

anonymous asked:

I hope the vegan diet helps your health issues, but it *really* isn't going to save the world. Agriculture is super destructive to whole ecosystems. It destroys habitats, is killing out species of animals and insects, & leads to desertification particularly in poor nations that produce a lot of trendy foods that have been popularised by vegans (I'm looking at you quinoa). If it's a personal moral or health decision, that's cool, but please don't perpetuate the idea it'll save the environment.

Actually, the number one biggest cause of environmental problems is land use for animal feed crops, not for humans.  I highly recommend you watch Cowspiracy as a starting point.  Or hit up Mic the Vegan’s youtube channel.  This video specifically addressing the myth you mentioned: [x]

We all need someone to help us think differently to the rest and you’re the perfect person for the job. You’re curious and interested in others which makes you seem like the social butterfly we all want to tell our life story to. Idealistic, endearing, tolerant and logical - what’s not to love about an Aquarius Rising?

Pisces Rising: Your dreamy, far off gaze makes us wonder what you’re thinking and seeing around you. You so easily adapt to different people, it seems as if you can change your whole personality for each person you come across; a social chameleon. This, of course, means people can’t help but love you and they flock towards your open heart. Some of the most compassionate people we know, you’re always helping other people or animals. We know you’re living in your own little world and we wish you’d show us around; I’m sure it’s beautiful. Your ability to just let things go and move on is admirable to those of us who struggle with forgiveness. Empathetic, open, intuitive and generous - what’s not to love about a Pisces Rising?

Angels walk among us. With crooked halos and shattered wings, they walk among us and try to remember what it felt like to be holy. Stretching out their arms and reminding themselves of what it felt like to soar.

Gods walk among us. Trapped inside too small bodies with nothing but the memories of when they were everything, and dream of the worlds and empires they helped forge. Their hands had once built galaxies, but now seemed so small.

Aliens walk among us. From far away worlds and twinkling stars, they carry on and wonder how they had gotten so far from home. One day they know they’ll traverse this galaxy once again, but until then they must make do with Earth.

Fae walk among us. Who try to remember their people, their customs, their dances, in a world that is convinced that they are children’s tales, and no more. Desperately trying to become themselves again, wondering if it was all simply a prank gone wrong, or something worse.

Forests walk among us. Those who remember their trees, their plants, the animals they kept safe under their canopy. Now they can only hope their small friends stay safe, until they can take care of them all again.

Animals walk among us. Wondering why they were stuck on two legs with none of their fur or feathers, scales or shells. Questioning why their voices suddenly are so wrong, so different from the cries they used to make. Surrounding themselves with whatever they can that reminds them of their home.

Ghosts walk among us. Clothed in flowing white and shadowy blues, wandering through areas that used to be solely theirs. They can no longer phase or float, but they make do. They have to.

Dragons walk among us. On feet without the claws they remember, and with heads held high despite the missing horns and fangs. They clamber forwards, rebuilding their hoard with every step of the way.

Dolls walk among us. Those with faded felt and chipped ceramics alike wondering why they were suddenly flesh. Looking over themselves and realizing their bodies were suddenly softer then they ever were, more sturdy then they ever were.

Galaxies walk among us. Made of star stuff and moonshine, infinitely growing forces trapped in too small bodies. Remembering what it felt like to span light years and wondering who had managed to trap supernovas into flesh and blood.

Monsters walk among us. In every shape and size; they walk; slither; crawl; and remember the days they were feared, and wonder if they really want that back. If they would want it back after finally being treated as a living creature with as much right to exist as anyone else.

Betrayers walk among us. With guilt-ridden hearts and regretful eyes. Who reassure themselves that it was the right thing to do, not quite sure if they believe themselves.

Saviors walk among us. With a shine in their eyes and smiles on their lips, reassuring all they come across that one day the sun will shine and all with be right once again.

Rebels walk among us. Causes long ago forgotten, but with fires still raging in their hearts. Challenging anything and everything. Unrest and revolutions follow them wherever they tread. Chaos and freedom, mixed together.

Survivors walk among us. Soldiers with nothing left to fear, who have instincts as their guide and luck on their side. Walking forward unafraid, because they’ve done this all before.

Immortals walk among us. Souls laden with sorrow, heartbreak slipping through their eyes. They know by now not to get close, but do so anyways because its the only thing that makes them feel anymore.

Soldiers walk among us. Hands itching for weapons they no longer have, tense with instincts they no longer need. Wondering why their body is so unmarred and unbroken. They had always done their best, but now they no longer knew if that was good enough. If it ever was good enough.

Children walk among us. Lost and afraid, they march forward, with the weights of a thousand impossibilities on their shoulders. These children are forgotten, and they would prefer to stay that way.

Cursed-folk walk among us. With cautious eyes and doubtful tones, who know that the world is against them now more than ever. Everything comes with a price, and they wonder if their price was truly worth it.

Mages walk among us. Hands of their magical tools of choice, ready to pull them out if necessary to defend or attack. Scared because this was the land their ancestors were killed in. Courageous because they continue forwards anyways.

Travelers walk among us. Those who took a wrong turn and found themselves in a world that isn’t theirs, hoping to one day find the way back. Strength rings through them, for they know they cannot- will not -stop until they reach their home.

Chosen Ones walk among us. Remembering what it felt like to be The One, The Savior, The Last Hope of their worlds- and wondering why that responsibility was ever thrust on them in the first place. Wondering why they had been abandoned back in their old world after fighting so hard for the one they had made their home.

Spirits walk among us. Spirits who see others like them in the corner of their eyes. Spirits who meet up in quiet secret places and remember, together, what it felt like to be themselves. Reassuring each other that one day they will all go Home.

Unicorns walk among us. Even with their horns no longer there, there is no doubt magic runs through them. They are blessed creatures, and they know it. Stars and sunlight glisten in their eyes, and every step plants flowers.

Demons walk among us. Still feeling the darkness in their blood, and the calls of others like them. Hell fire and brimstone smells dance on the breeze, luring them away. Luring them back home.

Dire Wolves walk among us. Even without their pack, they are fierce. Every step a calculation, every move planned. The hunt is on, and it looks like you are the prey. Get ready to run.

Dinosaurs walk among us. Long gone though they are, the continue forward. With pasts surrounded by mystery and unknowing. They are a varied folk, from carnivores to herbivores and everything in between. Large and small alike they fight on.

Winged Ones walk among us. Backs aching from wings they don’t have- limbs they haven’t had in a long time. The sky calls to them, begging them to come home, but they cannot reply. Stuck on the ground, staring hopefully up at the sky- one day they might go home, but not yet, not today.

Glitches walk among us. Scratches on the disk of reality, blips in the world. Tilt your head, look at them from a wrong angle- they might just be lens flares, might just be tricks of the imagination. The world warps around a being that is not there, that shouldn’t be there.

Hellhounds walk among us. Hellfire sprouts from their paths, infernos blaze just under their skin. Embers burn their paws, soot stains their fur. Wildness stirs in their hearts, urges them forward. Feral creatures, born from fire and darkness.

Vampires walk among us. Fangs stained red with blood that is not theirs. Pale as untouched snow, with hearts as dark as the night they rule. Voids twist around them, cloaking them in their shadows. Look out for too sharp grins at midnight, watch your steps.

Elements walk among us. Raging winds, blazing flames, crushing earth, and surging waters rush together. Combining to make impossible possibilities, incredible worlds, exploding worlds. Elements that made up entire worlds now spinned into bones.

The Undead walk among us. Shuffling and stuttering, wondering if this makes them undead undead. Flesh now whole and bones unbroken, feeling their heartbeat course through their veins once again, feeling the air filling their lungs once again.

Werefolk walk among us. Bodies no longer shifting as they once did, permanently stuck on their two legs, for better or for worse. From all walks of life, they shifted into anything and everything. They do what they can to remind themselves of what if had felt like to themselves again.

Starseeds walk among us. Those that have lived only a few lives and those that have lived hundreds walking together. Taking the same steps they’ve taken who knows how many times before. Memories trickle back to them, small ones and big ones alike replaying in their minds. Doing their best to remember their mission and goals.

Mermaids walk among us. Although, maybe walk would be the wrong word. Figuring out how to walk on separate limbs that used to be one. Feeling most at home when submerged in water, sometimes forgetting their new bodies need oxygen. Strong arms and new legs propelling them through water, making them relearn a skill that they’d known since birth.

Death Omens walk among us. Afraid if their mere presence curses everyone around them. Keeping to themselves, just in case. Wondering how much of their past life carries on to their new life. Afraid that their mere touch could end lives, wondering if its their fault every time catastrophe hits.

Psychopomps walk among us. Remembering their jobs, remembering their duty. Even when they hated it, they remember what that must do. Both an impartial guide and a guardian protector. It was not their job to judge, simply to provide a safe passage from here to whatever lies beyond. Smiling in the face of death, knowing that they are not here for them.

Shadows walk among us. Twisting and shifting, not solid forms but far from intangible. They are everywhere and nowhere all at once, watching on to every act, recording passively that actions of others, while also defending those in need, actively stepping out to protect. They are the night and the stars, and yet also the shifting woods and deadly blades that flash in the shade. They are, and they aren’t.

Prisoners walk among us. Remembering shackles and chains holding them back, holding them down. Forced in cages and cells, forced to repent. But now- now they are free. They are free to walk and speak and run. Every part of their soul sings. Shackles now rusted off, chains now broken- they have no intentions of ever putting them back on.

Robots walk among us. Rusty joints and electricity running through them. Mechanical men, made to work with no need for sustenance. Inorganic beings with artificial intelligence, making themselves better, making themselves evolve. Their jobs are not yet done.

Mountains walk among us. Their strength and fortitude transformed into movable flesh and feeble bones. Eons of near unending life taken away and replaced with a life of hardly a century. Where once they were feared and respected, they are now hardly ever seen.

Winter Sprites walk among us. Ice on their fingers, frost in their hair. Snow falls over their trail, painting the frozen landscape a chilling white. A shiver trails up your spine when they pass, followed by a freezing breeze- winter spirits in their element can freeze the world over, if one could be bothered to do so.

Seers walk among us. They watch, wide eyed and humbled, at the creatures who walk around them. Wings and horns and twisted bits, wandering through crowded streets. Their oddities, invisible to most, show bright and clear to the perceptive eyes of those who watch.

anonymous asked:

Hi! I just wanted to apologize for any crazy fans who harassed you or any of the crew member for the trans marco theory thing. I don't exactly support the theory as well, since I find that 1 guy and 1 girl as protagonist creates a perfect balance that welcome both side of the gender and having 2 girls instead would favor more on the girl side of the demographics. But it's wrong to send hate to the crew or ANYONE over it for that matter. I hope you don't have a bad impression of our fandom :(

Hey! Thanks for writing in! Don’t worry, I don’t have a bad opinion of the fandom–in my experience, every fandom has its own brand of drama, and there are plenty of creators who have experienced much worse than I did.

But I did want to say something on the middle section of your comment! So: it’s totally fine if you aren’t interested in the trans Marco theory and personally prefer shows with one male and one female protagonist. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions! But when you bring up this particular opinion in a conversation about female and LGBT representation, it makes it harder to have these kinds of conversations.

“Balance” sounds super great … in theory! If this show existed in a vacuum, then I would absolutely agree with you that equal gender representation is ideal. But it doesn’t. This show exists in our world, and our world has some pretty lame stuff in it.

For instance, you mentioned that having two female protagonists would favor a female demographic. But here’s the thing: animated shows are functionally not ALLOWED to have a show with two female protagonists. Historically, networks have overwhelmingly favored shows with male protagonists because advertisers who support television networks have preferred to manufacture and market toys and products aimed at young boys.

Every once in a while, networks seek out shows with female protagonists–with the caveat that they be accompanied by a male costar. They don’t want to risk losing their “boys” demographic and, at the end of the day, that means that boys are valued more than girls. So when you see a show with a “balanced” show with a female lead and a male sidekick, remember that that “equal representation” is done to cater to male viewers and is usually mandatory.

And then there’s the trans element.* Trans representation is exponentially rarer than female representation. If you are a trans kid growing up, you will have a very hard time finding your experienced reflected in the media you consume. And when the media you consume–and the culture that creates it–acts like you don’t exist, it’s easy to feel like you yourself don’t exist. That you don’t deserve respect.

While we are seeing better representation of LGBT folks in media, we still have a long way to go. In the meantime, some people are taking matters into their own hands, either by creating their own stories or through fan theories. And that’s ultimately (to my understanding) what the trans marco people are doing: they see the potential for representation and make it their own.

So when people post about the trans marco theory, hoping for representation that they badly need and deserve, it’s probably not a good time to jump in and talk about how having two female protagonists would make the show “unbalanced.” The WORLD is unbalanced. We gotta do something to tip the scales back in the right direction.

And after all, if you wanted male representation, you could easily look to the supporting cast–or any number of animated shows that feature primarily if not exclusively male protagonists. There is really no shortage of them.

Again, I want to stress that if you like the one-boy-one-girl dynamic, that’s fine! But there’s a time and place for that opinion.

*Disclaimer: I am not trans! And I don’t pretend to speak for trans people. Please feel free to correct or add onto this.

Gentle witch little things

Simple things you can do to bring more love and positivity into the world:

  • enchant the bus or train you’re on, so that everybody has a pleasant day or a safe travel home
  • paint protective sigils in the misty windows of buses or shops when it rains, and leave words of encouragement and praise on public bathrooms’ mirrors
  • bless passing ambulances and firefighter trucks with speed and safety for their patients/destination
  • wear an enchanted lipstick/gloss for your smile to brighten the day of everybody you meet
  • enchant your spare change so that it gives luck to the beggars you donate it to; they need it, don’t they?
  • actually, just enchant your money, so that retail and low-wage workers can have a better day when they serve you
  • leave blessed acorns and harmless trinkets in various places like buses or waiting rooms; give other people something to wonder about and make their day, and kids an item to roll in their hands mindlessly
  • bless food and leave it for stray animals; let birds be messangers of hope and miraclous event for everybody that sees them
  • whisper encouragement to trees and grass you pass by; let them know someone cares, someone sees their beauty, and awaits their bloom
  • smile at children and pets; provide them with the positive energy that the world is trying to kill in them
  • leave motivational notes, praise and silly drawings charged with love and hope on post-it notes as you go; they can brighten the day of those that find them

For all who have been asking me, desperate to know about the future of the show… it’s official! We’re coming back for SEASON 2!

And to be frank, the fans have been wonderful. Thank you for your art, your passion, your theories, your trollsonas, and your genuine love for our little animated series. It has truly made these last few years laboring away in total darkness a worthwhile endeavor, and the reception has far surpassed what any of us expected. While working in secrecy, we could only hope that what we were making, something odd and unique, would be embraced by total strangers in a world that many told us wanted the exact opposite of what we were creating. But you all proved them wrong.

From all of us at Team Trollhunters… thanks.

what i want in a sinnoh remake: a very long list of unreasonable demands

- diamond and pearl opening- bring back being attacked by starly. c’mon. that as a fully animated cutscene would be a lot more impactful than platinum’s opening

- and while we’re at lake verity, throw in a mesprit sighting. links the player into the overarching plot much earlier on; when did we first hear about the lake spirits in the originals? celestic town? i cant remember it’s been too long

- speaking of surfing, for the love of Arceus please make surfing faster and reduce the encounter rate for water (and caves while we’re at it- mt. coronet without repels is more of a hell than the distortion world could ever hope to be)

- bidoof is every ride pokemon. need to fly somewhere? tie it to a drifblim. surf? tape it to a floatzel. fight me.

Happy Black History Month!

See the work of Horace Pippin on view in Masterworks from the Hirshhorn Collection

Serving in an African American regiment during World War I in France, self-taught artist Horace Pippin received a wound that partially paralyzed his right arm. Thereafter, Pippin used painting  as a physical therapy, and in 1931 was able to complete his first oil painting. Although his earliest works are somber depictions of his wartime experiences, his later scenes are hopeful and imbued with religious faith. “Holy Mountain III” (1945) is based on the biblical passage Isaiah 11:6-9, a prophecy that describes a peaceful world in which predatory animals live in harmony with their prey. A dense forest is suggested behind the flowered field, in which small, shadowy figures threaten to disturb the utopia.

Walt Disney World Happily Ever After Animator Interview | Disney

One final promo for Happily Ever After. They interviewed the animators (just the 3 of us). I’m the awkward, fidgety one on the right. The show opens today. Hope you all get a chance to go see it.

DR. FLUG ES BEIEZAAA <3 Y TAMBIEN BLACK HAT! <3 ENSERIO AMO ESTO

They do not know how happy they made me see this news!
If I had been shown this series before and they would have told me that I was Mexican the truth would not have believed them. It is a great achievement for the Mexican animation, that not only know us by anima studios and his endless chavo animated (?, this will be more than what we have seen. We already have Huevocartoon that opened the doors to the world, unfortunately for me not I was sure that this series will not be one more of a bunch. It is attractive, with very good characters, great design, and I hope you have a great premise behind it.This will motivate more Young people and animators that their work is worth and that they can go far .. I recently wondered if they were getting an animation for Mexican CN, what would it be ?, What would it be? And I could never answer that because it always fell in the same way that we We would fill stereotypes. I like how this project is developing and I hope it will help as a platform for many more.
It’s other news .. DR. FLUG IS BEIEZAAA <3 AND ALSO BLACK HAT! <3  I LOVE THIS

anonymous asked:

Can you give us more insight into what it's like making a season of Miraculous? I would love to hear more about how you guys make an episode!

Sure! :)

Everything starts in the writers’ room, where the writing team is working on one, three, or more scripts at a time. They take a long time during this part, because story is one of the most important things in making a show. Thomas and team are amazing storytellers, and put lots of love and care into writing Miraculous.

Each script is revised, approved, and sent off to the storyboarding team! They storyboard the episode, and then make the final animatic, which is like the animated version of the episode. (you can see an example of one here!) After that, the episode is dubbed, animated, edited, and then completed. And then, the finished product is sent off to other teams around the world to dub it in their respective languages.

Multiple episodes are being worked on at the same time – in fact, season three is being written right now while Season 2 is being completed. Our team is doing our best to bring you an amazing show, and we hope this helps you understand the process! Thank you for being so patient, and we can’t wait to share season 2 with you. It’s going to be AWESOME!

Using Creatures From Native American Beliefs

I have been working on a fantasy series and my world has 9 nations of people, each with somewhat loose real-world influences. Each nation has its own kind of… guardian animal I guess (I formerly called them totem animals but have recently thought I should avoid that word since it specifically originated from Ojibwe culture) and while most of them are animals I have made up, a few of them are taken from real world mythologies and legends. One is the Wyvern, which doesn’t have any significant purpose in its origin so I think should be fine to use, but the others are the wakinyan (Lakota - thunderbird) and the amarok (Inuit) which were significantly more important to their originating cultures.

The wakinyan is the guardian animal of the nation influenced by some Native American cultures, where the Amarok is similarly the guardian of the nation influenced by Inuit cultures. I hoped this would give representation to those cultures and their mythologies but have worried that in reality it might just be disrespectful. I was hoping you could give me some feedback on whether this use is problematic or appropriative. Thank you! (PS I love this blog, it has taught me a lot, so thank you!)

I’d caution you to make sure that the “Native American” cultures you’re pulling from all use the Thunderbird, because it is specific to a few tribes. It would feel very off to have a culture that didn’t have the Thunderbird at all suddenly have it be incorporated. I’d prefer it if it was one specific tribe, but if you’re pulling from closely-knit nations who have a common history as allies then you’ll run into a lot less raised eyebrows for mixing a few together. I should note that a shared language family does not indicate a shared ally history; the Huron and Iroquois both shared a language family, but they’re traditionally enemies. They had periods of allyship, but that wasn’t the norm.

Other than that, this doesn’t look appropriative to me because you’re pulling from the entirety of the culture when selecting those animal protectors. The key to at least beginning to respect a culture’s religion (another caution is calling Native American religions “mythologies"— we’re still alive and practicing our traditions!) is to take the whole of it, not just the “cool” or pretty parts.

Of course, the usual cautions of sensitivity readers and making sure you’re not relying on the white versions of our beliefs apply. But as a general rule, if there’s the culture to go along with the creature, you have solid representation.

Sterek fandom, please gather around me. I have to talk to you about something extremely important.

Because today my friends, I discovered that something called the “Teddy bear hospital” exists.

And it’s even more adorable than you can imagine.

(It’s actually a French association, where parents bring their kids, who then have to find with the doctor what’s wrong with their favorite toy, check all the boxes on a chart with different diseases, then bring the teddy bear to the dentist, the radiologist, the surgery…

It’s mainly to teach kids not to be afraid of doctors and hospitals, and help kids that have to spend a lot of time in hospital understand what really happens there. The doctors are all medicine students, and like my sister, mainly dying inside from the cute)

Now can you imagine Sterek in that?

Stiles pushing the stretcher with the little bear on it, one paw wrapped in bandages because they suspect broken bones. Stiles following a little girl with really clear eyes and actual pigtails, smiling like a crazy person because of how cute the kid is, pointing decidedly at the different doors for her teddy bear’s next appointment.

And on the other side of the stretcher, Derek, the uncle/single dad, slowly melting in a puddle of besotted goo because of this guy in his doctor blouse, with the moles, and the smiles, and listening to freaking teddy bear’s heartbeat.

Or.

Stiles and Derek, the medical students that meet during the event. Derek being the surgeon (because he’s kind of worried about handling kids) (and of course he’s amazing and the kid adore him but he worries anyway because he’s big and scary and Laura told him he has too much eyebrow for one person).

Stiles being the charming radiologist, that comes into Derek’s surgery room clearly to torture him. Because he comes in with the most radiant smiles (and Derek always smiles back, even if they have seen each other thirty times already and even if he still doesn’t know the guy’s name) and a kid clutching at his hand, before helping them into little surgeon outfits. Derek can’t even look at him directly; it’s that stunning a view. He doesn’t understand how someone that must spend 23 hours a day studying and leaving on junk food can glow so much.

Or.

Stiles and Derek are single parents that bring their kids to the Teddy bear hospital, and both get promptly sent to the waiting room by their independent four and five years old.

They both meet in the waiting room, where they are the only one not enjoying these few moments of freedom, but pacing all over the place like trapped animals. Both of them have really bad memories of hospitals, and they bond ver it after  buying their fourth coffee in the vain hope of distracting themselves.

They get caught making out in a supply closet by a nurse. Both of their kids give them very disappointed looks.

Or.

Laura bringing Derek there without any explanation. Because she’s 6 months pregnant, and Derek will be there to see his nephew coming into the world, hospital phobia or not.

So Stiles raises his eyes from his planning to find that the little Derek is in fact one big, strong ball of muscles, pale eyes and blushing cheek, and closer to thirty than 3. Stiles immediately decides to forgets the “only kids from 3 to 8″ rules and calls dibs (because he saw Jeanine’s greedy eyes).

Derek may well be a weirdo, but he’s a beautiful one. Who mumbles when his sister kisses him on the cheek and actually resists for a few seconds before handing Stiles the teddy bear. It’s absolutely adorable.

Then Stiles starts the list of fake diseases and diagnoses a bad burn on the bear, when he catches Derek’s expression. The man looks completely broken and sad, and trying very hard and badly to hide it.

So Stiles backpedals so hard he physically gets back, hands in the air, and changes his diagnosis to a sprained paw and a bellyache. For the hour long visit, all of Stiles’ colleagues look at them both with bewildered eyes. Derek looks hounded, head hunched and either fixed on his shoes, between embarassement and real anxiety. He stay close to Stiles, and Stiles looks at his beautiful face and marvels. Sometimes, Derek even takes notes.

Stiles is madly in love after forty five minutes.

I don’t know I don’t have the time to write this, but if someone feels like it, please, pleeeease tag me in it.

I need it. For reasons.
