hope and charity

Day 175 Whanganui

Decided to stay put today and relax a bit. Went into town, had something to eat and watched the film Lion. I really enjoyed it, it’s about a Indian boy who takes a train and gets lost in Calcutta where he lived on the streets. After visiting the Future Hope charity for street children in Calcutta when I was there, it really hit a chord. Anyway, it’s a good one, but take a hanky!

I came back to the camp and rented out a canoe, they drove me 8K up river and I paddled back. The upper half of my body has only been used to hang on to the handlebars and steer. So it felt like a decent workout. I didn’t fall in, so that’s a bonus and probably a first!

Back on the bike tomorrow and heading towards the big lake.

My favourite non verbal moments of xmas day:

  1. Liv & Robert feels
  2. Little show hop Robert
  3. Shoulder bump funny
  4. Liv’s wink and Aaron’s reaction
  5. The ‘Shove over’ kick
  6. Fluffy Alfie
  7. Charity’s Blah!
  8. ‘Oh yay Charades…’ Aaron
  9. Marlon’s moves to the Adele line “why are you so shy?”
  10. Merr Cas!

Thought it would save spam to put them together

Merr Cas everybody x

BTS And Big Hit Entertainment Make Generous Donation To Families Of Sewol Ferry Victims

Via Soompi:

“BTS and Big Hit Entertainment were recently found to have donated 100 million won (approximately $85,000) to the Sewol Ferry Disaster 416 Family Council. Each of the seven members contributed 10 million won (approximately $8,500) and the agency added 30 million won (approximately $25,500) to the total.

Their donation is especially meaningful as it was recently uncovered that there exists a government blacklist on figures in the arts and culture industry. Supporting the families affected by the Sewol Ferry disaster was one of the reasons why people were placed on the list and discriminated against.

This is not the first time BTS have been involved in providing aid for the Sewol Ferry disaster. Back in 2014, BTS’s fans donated relief goods to families right after the incident occurred.

A representative of Big Hit Entertainment confirmed that the donation had been made, but stated that they hadn’t originally had any plans to make it public. They said, “From what I know, they planned to keep the donation private because they believe that you don’t make donations so that you can tell people about it. The members of BTS made the decision [to make the donation] and because we see this is a personal matter, we don’t think it’s right for us to speak on the matter in depth.”

Can we just talk about how Mark up and donated $1,000 to Hope for Paws in his Don’t Smile Challenge just because he’s such a loving person and he just can? Like, he could’ve just donated the 5 or 10 dollars that the organization asked for in their video, but he went way up and beyond that and I can guarantee that that money will change a poor animal’s life. Coming from someone who works at a veterinary office, procedure costs can damage an animal’s chance at life and that money could cover the costs of any hospitalization for illness, vaccinations, and even an orthopedic or general anesthesia surgery if needed. He’s just so great and I just wish I could hug him and thank him for everything he does for the world around us.

Today’s adventure was amazing! Got to see Mark, Tyler and Ethan was again and it was great meeting Amy, Bob and Wade for the first time! These six individuals have managed to come into my life one way or another, and I just want to say thanks. Thanks for getting me through tough times either in school or personal problems. I subscribed to Mark back in October 2014 and if it wasn’t for his channel, I would have never known any of you and gotten to meet you today. I appreciate everything you guys do for your fans and others and I hope you keep doing charity live streams for a long time. I believe in you guys and I’m glad that I was able to meet the whole gang! (One day I will meet @therealjacksepticeye !) All I have left to say is you are caring and loving human beings that keep us fans happy with whatever projects, videos and sketches you create. I’m glad I was able to meet you all and I hope I see you again! Love you all! ❤️ @markiplier @lordminion @crankgameplays

Pennsylvania Dutch Hex Signs.

The Pennsylvania Dutch were actually Germans. Their “hex signs” were painted on barns, carved into furniture, and hammered on to utensils. They were thought to bring luck, love, and abundance. and ward off misfortune such as fire and lightening. Hex signs were originally called “sech circles,” because the first ones all included six-pointed star in a circle. The Pennsylvania Dutch call them “Hexerie” or “Jinks”. They are usually painted in bright colors. These designs are just a few.

The Unicorn Hex:  Strength and courage to strive for your goals; virtue; love; faith, hope and charity.
The Six-Pointed Lobe Hex: All the kinds of love, and protection of them.
The Lucky Star Hex: Each color symbolizes luck, in many things: lucky in love, lucky in fortune, lucky in friendship, lucky in your job, etc. Also protection against fire.
The Oak Leaf Hex: Strength in body, mind, and character. The scalloped border represents smooth sailing in life.
The Health Hex: Protection of your health from all disease. The various diseases are represented by different colors in the rosette.
The Distlefink Hex: Good Luck, love, and happiness. Often put on new houses: insures a happy household, especially if it has a blue background. The tulips mean faith, hope, and charity.
The Triple, Five-Pointed Star of Luck, Love, and Happiness Hex: Also strong protection against fires.

Notice Mary Magdalene with her three children at the bottom of this picture, flanked by two women of the Jerusalem Church, representing the sacred feminine in the forefront of Jachin and Boaz, with dozens of masonic symbols, including the beehive, square and compass, spring of acacia, plumb, level, scythe, Jacob’s ladder, lamb, rough and smooth ashlars, point within a circle, anchor, cable-tow, ark of the covenant, lost key, past master symbol, noah’s ark, trowel, vitruvian base, venus (pentalpha/pentagram), mercury/alchemy star (star of David/Jewish star),  The Hierophant Tau Cross, mosaic pavement, three steps (degrees), the Sun, and the Divine Shekhinah in the center of the Holy of Holies, the inner chamber of Solomon’s Temple; this represents the Venus/Mercury conjunction with the Sun.  There are more symbols here, but these are just off the top of my head and what I can recognize. One of my favorite paintings, for various reasons.
