bughead fanfiction

Kevin nodded whilst Archie said “Yeah, I think we are”

After that the five started hanging around more. They had two meeting places; Pop’s or Scorpion although having the sheriff’s kid hanging around with a bunch of serpents wasn’t exactly ideal so for the most part, burgers and milkshakes were the choice meal. It’s normally in the evening just before curfew but just after Pop closes up that they manage to sneak in. Jughead being a very loyal customer had managed to convince Pop to keep the diner open on certain days for an hour more after team practice.

What no one had expected was the rain which caused the entire football team and cheerleading squad to tumble in, Veronica, Archie & Betty towards the back with apologetic looks. Jughead had been waiting with his milkshake and a plate of now cold fries and he knew Betty was going to meet him so he waited it out.

When the bell rang he looked up expecting to see his wife and best friends but was instead greeted by a soaking Chuck Clayton & Reggie Mantle as the rest of the team was piling in behind followed by the River Vixens. “Look what we have here” Chuck said walking towards him “our very own serpent traitor.”

Jughead didn’t respond and instead locked eyes with his wife who he could tell was getting angry.

“Come on Jones what you looking at?” Chuck followed his line of sight to Betty “ah yes, the good little Cooper girl. You know Betty, you sure aren’t as much fun as Polly” he’d now turned towards her.

“Leave her alone Chuck, it’s me you have a problem with” Jughead jumped up “or are you too much of a coward you have to pick on girls because you’re not man enough to fight me.”

Still looking at Betty, Chuck continued “Nah come on Cooper. You’re not still dating this southside idiot are you?”

Holding her composure the blonde replied “No Chuck we’re not dating anymore” she looked to Jughead who gave her a slight nod as Veronica (who was standing to her right) held her hand for support “we’re married actually so it’s Cooper-Jones now” she left Veronica’s hand, approached Jughead and kissed him before he handed her back her wedding rings. Putting them on she smiled and held her hand up in the boys now very confused face “so get your facts straight.” Veronica, Archie & Kevin also walked over to where Betty & Jughead were standing.

“Hold up. Your mom actually let you get married? To a serpent?” Chuck asked still trying to understand.

“Well I for one think it’s sweet, don’t you?” Cheryl asked her River Vixens who all agreed. “Chuck maybe you should think about finding a girlfriend too or at least stop harassing my squad and my niece and nephews aunt.” She walked over to the couple and offered her sincere congratulations as some of the other vixens followed.

The rain had started to calm down so people were beginning to leave but Betty stopped Cheryl “Hey, do you wanna join us?”

The redhead looked between the five friends “If you’re all okay with it?” to which everyone nodded. Cheryl slid into a booth next to Veronica and Kevin whilst Archie had pulled up a chair from the opposite table and Jughead & Betty sat opposite, her leaning into him.

Pop’s dropped off six milkshakes and a basket of fries. “A toast” Veronica declared raising her glass up “even though they’ve been married for ages without telling us, I hope you continue to make each other as happy as you do now. May you have a long, healthy and happy marriage. To Betty and Jughead.”

“Betty and Jughead” everyone repeated clinking their glasses together.

To say married life was easy would be a lie but they always managed pulled through.

Despite many arguments both Betty and Jughead had decided to attend college online, Jughead majored in creative writing whilst Betty majored in journalism. With their positions in the Serpents, neither wanted to leave Riverdale so both had looked for jobs they could do from home.

After three months of hunting and thanks to her parents extensive contacts in the journalism industry, Betty had managed to secure a job as a junior writer for an online magazine. Sure it’s not the type of work she thought she’d be writing but her serpent lifestyle was exciting enough that her writing became an escape. As for Jughead, the boy had talent and everyone knew it. He had managed to self publish a book under the name J. C. Jones that had quickly became a bestseller which led to his getting an agent and a hell of a lot more money for this work.

Jackie and Alice were now helping the younger members of the Southside community learn various forms of self defence. The elder serpent was also tutoring the younger children in other subjects something which Betty had encouraged all crew members to take part in and as she had them all wrapped around her finger, they did just that.

The most significant change in their lives happened two years ago, when Betty gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Charlotte ‘Cherry’ Cooper-Jones was born in the early hours of a December morning. She had her mother’s piercing green eyes, father’s raven hair and the entirety of the Cooper’s, Jones’ and Southside Serpents smitten.

It was a rare occasion that everyone got together now. Archie was now a famous singer and was either on tour or recording in LA, Veronica was the head of a global fashion and lifestyle magazine and was engaged to Archie. They had become quite the power couple on social media.
After a couple of years, Kevin was reunited with Joaquin and the two had moved to Sydney to enjoy a less dramatic life. Joaquin was now a chef and owned his own very exclusive restaurant whilst Kevin helped out Veronica with the Australian edition of her magazine. Cheryl had offered to be the head editor in England as a way of starting a new life. She had married a socialite but the two had decided to live in the suburbs so they could give their children the quiet lives they didn’t have.

Every Christmas everyone would fly back to Riverdale where Jughead and Betty would host a Christmas party. Archie had some exciting news that was a surprise for everyone which no one, not even Veronica knew what it was, so as everyone sat round one of the bigger tables in Scorpion, Archie stood up and pulled out his phone. “Something I’ve been wanting to write for a while was a song for you all. My manager just text me letting me know that it’s number one in the Christmas charts so it seems like a good time to share it with you all.” He had connected his phone to the bar’s bluetooth speakers and the sound of a soft guitar started to play.

The chorus and hook echoed through the bar, everyone had memorised the words by the end;

Doesn’t matter who or where you’re from,
The people that stick beside you help you know, oh,
Your family is who you choose,
From the lonely boy to the girl with tattoos,
They’re always there for you…

So bummed after watching SDCC interviews. No Bellarke references anywhere. Nothing about Clarke/Bellamy reunion. Hints at lots of changes in relationships between the six space cadets. I swear if Bellamy has hooked up with Echo I am going to scream. I just want my Bellarke happily ever after, dammit. Last year JR was all: “It’s always been about the relationship between Clarke and Bellamy”. This year nothing. Hoping I just missed something and Bellarke is still the plan.

revolutionarygays' massive homestuck femslash rec list

okay so this actually isn’t even the tip of the iceberg but i wanted to compile a recommendation list of my personal favorite homestuck femslash pieces! i get asked to do this a lot and finally got around to making one. i’m sure i’ll make more!

a few notes:

  1. check all archive warnings before reading! some of this stuff is really heavy
  2. speaking of such, i like heavy/depressing/dysfunctional stuff. sorry! there’s plenty of cute stuff in there too i promise
  3. THIS ENTIRE LIST IS ROSE/KANAYA/VRISKA/TEREZI CENTRIC! a ton of fantastic femslash exists outside of these 4 characters but they are my personal faves so this stuff mostly deals with them

You'll be a hero to your kids if you have this technology in your car

(The Chevy Colorado comes with 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity.General Motors)
As my colleague Cork Gaines discovered, having wifi in your car can be very useful if, among other things, you want to hook up an Amazon Echo.

In-car connectivity isn’t new, but for the past few years, a shift has begun toward turning vehicles into rolling wifi hubs.

I’ve had a front seat (Sorry!) for this because I write about cars, which means that I get to drive a lot of them. Everything from Ferraris to Teslas to Fords.

I also have three kids, which means that they get to ride in a lot of cars.

You might think that, being the children of a guy who writes about cars, they would have a laundry list of features that they enjoy in their vehicles. Infotainment. Comfy seats. Cool colors. Two of my three are boys, and without veering into sexist territory, we do know that boys tend to like their cars. So, for them, stuff like 0-60 mph stats and, I don’t know, top speeds. That kind of thing.

But they do not have a laundry list of features that they like in cars.

In fact, they’re only interested in one thing.

Does the car have Wifi?

It’s the devices, of course. They all have iPad and iPhones. We don’t have a TV, so this is how they watch shows and play games. It is all they know! Obviously, it’s preferable if the data can come through Wi-Fi, especially if you have iPads that are Wi-Fi-only.

Put the kids in a car for two hours, and they’re cut off. It’s not like we can play charming old-school driving games, such as spot the VW bug or find license plates from states that start with “A.” That sort of fun is, for them, from the Age When Dinosaurs Walked The Earth.

So far, the only major carmaker that has across-the-board Wifi on new cars is General Motors. Audi also offers Wifi, but Audi is a luxury brand, where much of what GM sells is aimed at the mass-market. Certain Chryslers have Wifi, Ford is joining the party, and of course some folks simply use their smartphone as a hotspot, or bring a mobile hotspot with them. But when Wifi is built into the car, it makes use of the vehicle’s antennae and power system, so you get a more robust experience.

GM rolled out 4G LTE Wi-Fi a few years ago was the first carmaker to really move strongly into the space; since then, others have followed. For example, the very family-centric new Honda Odyssey minivan has the feature. I first sampled GM’s wifi is a Chevy Colorado pickup truck with the technology, which is piped through the OnStar system. The Canyon was an effort by GM to re-enter the smaller pickup market, which used to be somewhat important to automakers but in the last decade or so has seen the space dominated mainly by Toyota. For GM, the effort has been extremely successful.

Pickups and wifi are a popular combo, as the truck can function as a mobile hotspot for use on job and construction sites (Cork’s vehicle is a pickup, in fact, a Chevy Silverado). As it turned out, the Colorado was actually a nice family car (it was the “crew cab” variation). All three of my kids plus my wife and I all drove from New York City to eastern Long Island and back in the truck.

The Wifi made it completely bearable. And there were no glitches — you can run seven devices, according to GM, on the 4G LTE network. We ran five.

For what it’s worth, we could have been in a much sexier car, but the kids wouldn’t have cared.

We could also have had flip-down entertainment screens and an system to show movies and so on, and wireless headphones. We have enjoyed these features in the past. But the kids are past that now.

They want to use their devices and use their headphones and remained dovetailed with the Internet. This has been a common experience for us on every GM test vehicles we’ve tried.

So this is where it’s at now. If you’re a carmaker and you want customers with kids to be happy, you must add speedy Wifi connectivity to your vehicles.

They care about this more than having Wifi on planes. At least my kids do. They’re fine with, say, JetBlue’s TVs, or the suite of entertainment options that you now get on many flights.

But in the cars, they gotta have Wifi, bottom line.

Echo Cave

I remember watching this episode for the first time. The minute Hook explained what Echo Cave was, I started grinning from ear to ear. Occasionally laughter started to slip out. What else was Hook keeping secret? His magical leather tailor? His magical eyeliner producer? I knew exactly where his secret was going, and it was going to have to come out of his mouth in front of her parents.

You have to applaud his courage. That was a seriously gutsy thing to do, especially knowing there was a small chance it might not work and he would have just revealed the deepest thing in his soul for no apparent reason with her family as an audience

Beyond that, this is Emma we’re talking about. She runs when she gets scared. He’s very aware of that. He might have said more in depth how he was feeling if he wasn’t running the risk that she would bolt just as she did at the top of the beanstalk. After they kissed, she panicked and declared it a “one time thing” and ran. We saw the look on her face after he revealed his secret. She was pretty terrified.

Looking into the future, Hook became more blunt after this. He gave up on much of his sarcasm and flirting in the season two finale when he made the decision to come back and save Emma the town with the bean. But he wasn’t exactly forward in declaring how he felt until after their kiss and Echo Cave. After that he vowed to win her heart. And when she didn’t run, and still constantly looked to him for help, it gave him more and more comfort that she would stay.

After he found her in New York, he knew what it was like to lose her. After that he was even more blunt about his intentions and his thoughts on the matter. And the fact that his bluntness didn’t scare her away showed him at least a part of her heart was in this.

But he always wanted an even playing field. He only wanted her heart if she wanted his in the most honest of ways. Telling her he traded his ship would have been a big enough gesture to finally send her running. Or he would have run the risk that she’d be so appreciative she’d either want to engage in a relationship or feel that she had to because of the gesture. He doesn’t want a relationship based on a gesture. He wants it because he loves her truly and honestly, and he only wants her love if she wants it the same way.

And for all of this, Hook was brave enough to run the risk she would run out of his life for the second time. He was brave enough to state his feelings in front of her parents running the risk it would fail. And the reason he was confessing his love in the first place was so she could save her ex, and the father of her child, who very well could also be in earshot. He lay everything on the line in echo cave. The only bight thing in his life could disappear just like that, but he took a leap of faith.

I really love the layer of their relationship that is this exchange. The exchange between the moments he expresses his feelings and she doesn’t run. She may walk away from the situation, but she always stays hear him. She always looks to him for help and advice. Every time he expresses deep feelings and she stays is another assurance to him that she feels the same way.

And the fact that he is patient and has no problem waiting for her to be ready or express anything back is another layer of just how perfect these two are for each other.

So thank you Echo Cave, for giving Killian the silent assurance that part of Emma’s heart was falling for his the way his was falling for hers.

a/n: i got hit with this late last night and had to get it out. set after 3x17, based on the spoilers of emma and henry arguing outside the diner, and other general spoilers.

He finds her outside the diner, one hand running through her hair and the other fisted against the wall, her knuckles white.

She glances up when she senses him, a soft sigh escaping her lips. “Hey,” she breathes, pushing off from the building.

“The small black box you’ve enchanted informed me you wished to see me?” He replies, waving the cell phone between them before slipping it into his coat pocket.

Her lips twitch. “I need you stay with Henry again,” Emma says quickly, so it all comes out in a jumble. Still, her face is hardened, as if already preparing for battle.

Hook’s face twists into a frown. “You’re going after the witch again."

"I–” Her expression falters, and for a moment, he sees not the savior, but Emma, his Emma, so lost and vulnerable.
