honno

“The time is now, the fifth month when the rain falls.” -Akechi Mitsuhide, which may be translated as "Toki (clan) shall now rule the realm under the sky"

June 21, 1582- The Honnō-ji Incident, wherein Oda Nubunaga was betrayed by one of his most prominent generals, Akechi Mitsuhide. While Nobunaga rested at Honnō-ji temple in Kyoto, Mitsuhide brought his forces into the city, pretended that Nobunaga had ordered a military procession. With Nobunaga’s forces occupied in other provinces, Mitsuhide’s men quickly overwhelmed the small group of men at Honnō-ji. Nobunaga committed suicide after realizing all was lost, though his body was never found. Mitsuhide would rule in Kyoto for 13 days before Toyotomi Hideyoshi defeated him in the Battle of Yamazaki and Mitsuhide was killed by bandits after fleeing.

Archer (Oda Nobunaga)

The son of a daimyo and one of the Three Unifiers of Japan, Oda was one of the most successful Japanese warlords, conquering over a third of the country before his death in 1582.

He was also a master of warfare tactics and at the Battle of Okehazama, his 3000 men would defeat an army of 25,000. He would also change the economic system of Japan as well as revolutionizing fire-arms.

Oda was also a ruthless and brutal man, burning Buddhist temples that had slandered him, slaughtering all men, women and children that lived in them. Some people believed that Oda was so evil, that he had made a deal with a demon to gain power and thus he called himself ‘Demon King of the Sixth Heaven’.

His loyal retainer Akechi Mitsuhide would betray Nobunaga as he was a stout Buddhist and could not bear to see his fellows die. His mother would also die in a hostage situation and he lost all faith in Oda.

He would attack Honno Temple killing both Oda and his son along with several bodyguards and Mori Ranmaru.

P4 Official Design Works Records: Take-Mikazuchi & Rokuten Maoh

With two anime programs related to Oda Nobunaga having been released recently, I thought it was as good a time as any for these excerpts concerning Kanji Tatsumi’s Personas; one of which was based on the infamous warlord himself. Also, Kanji geeking out over his own Personas is fun in itself.

“Take-Mikazuchi is the god of lightning, so the Persona’s arms are massive generators. The skeleton paint job is there to match him up with Kanji’s shirt and general preference, but also because seeing flashes of a person’s skeleton is a common effect when someone is hit by lighting. Of course, some people point out that, because Take-Mikazuchi is the one who looks like a skeleton, it’s him who’s getting struck by lightning, not the one who’s striking others with it. (laughs) I guess you could say I added a bit of a comical touch to his design to match that of Kanji’s. I picture Kanji being all, ‘Look! He’s a skeleton! How cool is that!?’

I have this personal rule that states, 'a Persona must be a humanoid on the inside.’ I know Take-Mikazuchi looks like a robot, but he’s really not. If you look closely at his joints, you will see that they are quite organic.”

-Soejima

“Rokuten Maoh’s design was based on Nobunaga Oda, with the pointy bits on his face meant to represent Nobunaga’s mustache, and the round piece on his head meant to represent Nobunaga’s helmet. The flame decals all over his body were supposed to match Kanji’s tank top, and I imagined him being all happy about it, saying, 'That looks so American! My Persona is badass!’ But once again, some people pointed out that this may be taken as a joke about how Nobunaga was burned to death within Honno-ji. (laughs)”

This scene in Aoi Honno actually happened in real life.

From The Notenki Memoirs: Studio Gainax and the men who created Evangelion writtenby Yasuhiro Takeda:

Okada was by far the biggest troublemaker on the set. One day, he was having it out with the rest of the anime staff, arguing about a scene in the climax. A signal fire is coming from a Powered Suit, and the smoke from the fire is supposed to turn into the Ide Gauge. But Okada didn’t like it.

“The Ide Gauge is just weak!” he exclaimed. “It’s got no impact, We should definitely have it form, like, a stylized version of a girl’s pussy! Now that would be impact! We need to do something that’s never been done before - otherwise, there’s no point in doing this at all!

He started going off about this and just wouldn’t back down. The rest of the staff turned to Kazumi (this was before she married Okada, so she was still Kazumi Amano at the time) and begged her to say something to make him stop. Even then, she was famous for her ability to control him.

Well, if you really wanna do something no one’s ever done before”, she began, “why don’t you have a shit-eating contest instead? You want impact? That’s impact.”

Okada didn’t say another word, and the “pussy proposal” was thankfully laid to rest. That, however, wouldn’t be the last time Okada chimed in with some insane suggestion. After that, every one of his wild ideas was answered with the chant, “Shit-eating contest… Shit-eating contest…”

This is for everyone who says things like ‘why didn’t Ryuko care more!?’, because here are a few things to consider:

  • Honno Town was completely demolished and replaced with a regular Japanese city before Ryuko ever went on her date with Mako. Do you realize how much time would have passed for this to happen? A year would be a very, very, very low estimate, but hey, it’s anime.
  • So, what do you think happened in that period of time? My guess…Ryuko probably was in mourning. Ignoring texts, staying locked away, and missing her Sunday Best.
  • On a day where she appeared legitimately happy, with her sister and her best friend, she became introspective and alone, stopped what the fuck she was doing, and thought of Senketsu.

Tell me again how she didn’t care enough.

kitchenkind  asked:

Dave/Tavros, DJ lessons.

Whoops this is unedited and written from my phone while half asleep. Enjoy.

You very nearly wince when Tavros’ clawed hands fumble over your turntables, and you’re behind him in and instant, grabbing his wrists to stop him.

When you caught him earlier, you knew immediately he had some talent. He had an ear for the music. But as soon as he realized your presence, he deteriorated into a bundle of awkward nerves. You decided then and there you’d teach him the finer skills of being a dj.

That was an hour ago. He really was a quick learner, but he’d do so much better if he wasn’t so worried about what you thought. Tavros would shoot furtive glances your way, eyes begging for some sort of signal that he was doing well, but more often than not your pokerface remained in place.

But you finally couldn’t take it anymore, you had to do something to break him out of his worried little state of mind.

“You gotta feel the music, man” you whisper, having to lean up on your toes slightly to rest your chin on his shoulder. He’s practically stiff as a board in front of you, sucking in a deep breath and tilting his head away so you don’t bump into his horns. He opens his mouth to stutter a reply but you don’t hear it at all.

You release his wrists, moving your hands over the turntables with practiced ease. You don’t even have to look at him to realize how awestruck he is. For a few moments the entire wolrd outside could have stopped and neither of you would have noticed. It’s just you and Tavros, and the music. And as cliche as it sounds, it feels like the most damn intimate thing you’ve ever done.

“Don’t worry about what the fuck other people think.” Your voice breaks both of you out of a trance. “All that matters is you and the music. Nothing else.” You’re whispering right into his ear now, hands falling still on the tables disrupting the beat. He shivers and practically melts to relaxed against you and he nods.

You let him take over again, stepping back. He still has a lot of improvement to make but damn if he isn’t impressing you already.

Oh my god. I swear I’ll make it a plot device that I send you porn during serious situations. “HANNAH I AM DYING.” “Gally reblog this JohnDave for me.”

Yes good.

Btw before it comes up, my strife specibus is (Riding) crop kind (that covers whips two B) hehe)
