holding onto this quote for dear life

Dear future child
If it’s 3am and you find yourself in a world of complete despair
Please do not turn to strangers on the internet for solace as I did
Please climb onto my bed
And I will hold you until the demons sleep
If it is Thursday morning and you are too sad to move
I won’t force you
I will buy ice cream and we will watch your favourite tv show and I will remind you of your importance
If you feel as if you have no purpose
I will remind you that you were created entirely with love and every pain you feel, I feel too
When you’re sure you can’t go on anymore
I will tell you that when I was 21 I searched for peace at the bottom of a vodka bottle chased by a bottle of pain killers
But that five years later
When you were placed in my arms in the delivery room
I realised that you were why I had been holding on
Without realising it, you saved me, do you know how amazing that is?
So if you ever feel like grabbing that vodka bottle, put it down, we will get in the car and I will drive until the sky turns magenta
I will show you how the sun rises every morning to encourage you to rise too
Sweetheart I refuse to be unaware of your sufferings
As my mother was to mine.

This has always been my favorite especially now since I can relate to it so much more

TAG someone who might need to be encouraged with this this summer!

Day 3 of 7 of this week’s theme: Exploring God’s plan

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. -John 3:16

My dear sister,

Through Jesus Christ, God has established a plan your life. He has established a plan for you to be with Him, for you to KNOW Him…a plan for you to be loved. This summer, hold onto this plan more than you hold onto anything else. Hold onto it when:

1. your plans for the summer are not turning out like you thought they would
2. your mission trip might not happen if you don’t get the funding
3. you’re scrolling through IG thinking about the places you wish you were or the person you wish you were with
4. you’re looking at your paycheck and it was far less than you expected
5. you’re opening your mailbox just praying for good news from the college of your choice
6. you’re waiting around all day for a text from a guy you know isn’t serious about you
7. the internship or job you applied for doesn’t look like it’s going to work out

I list these things because I know someone might be faced with one of these things this summer. If that’s you, know that now is not the time for you to brush over it and say “it’s not that big of a deal.” It’s also not the time to dwell on them day-in and day-out. It’s time to take those things that keep you up at night and have you feeling insecure and got to God, asking Him to lead you back to the love of Jesus this summer.

There is no need to wait around all summer, hoping for tomorrow when you can fully embrace what He has given to you through Christ Jesus today. In Romans 8, there is absolutely nothing can separate us from Christ’s love–not our insecurities, our doubts, our failed relationships, or failed plans.

Wake up EVERY morning this summer ready to dig into God’s word, ready to go spread love into your community and live for Him so much that you forget about your failed plans! Let His love carry you–it is stronger than any summer love and it is greater than any summer plan.
